Unclear. Confuses students. Too much to remember in such a short no. of lectures
atrocius teaching, good effort at trying to cover lots of material though

what a nice guy....really helpful! great prof in this course
Very clear and straightforward
Hard but fair considering depth of material

Nice guy but didn't understand him in class, but he made up for that in the final!
Sash, u rock!! Finally cell bio doesn't suck so much, ur the best of the 3 profs - everything is straightforward and clear. Very nice and helpful. :)
a good prof
Sash...Sash...Sash...What the hell was that exam? You're killing me man.

Good guy.
Very clear in explanations and a nice guy. Slides are organized and easy to follow.
And Bio 438. Progressively got better, and his final for 338 was fantastically easy. Would have been easy for 438 too, if ppl werent dumb enough to vote against an article based final. Can be kinda a **** sometimes, but adds to his charm. Chopped his finger off, kinda funny. Wait, nevermind
I dunno if ppl are being payed to write good reviews but he was horrible! I mean his slides were packed...his exams were tricky(know every word and read carefully pump/channel...) He's arrogant when he answers questions.
Tells you everything you need to know- there's just tons of it... easy if you study enough.
his attempts to be funny are quite a laugh in themselves. tells u all u need to know for the test.
Mixed Feelings really. He seems nice enough, but he constantly says the wrong things, confuses words and its kind of annoying when you go back to learn it. Sometimes he'll go slow and then other times its just a blur (that's usually the important stuff)
Sash is a good guy. His tests can be difficult if you're at all unsure about any of the material. But then again, he tells you EXACTLY what's going to be on the test, and he sticks to it. Logan the TA emphasizes even more the material that's covered on the test. This course is a lot of memory work, but I thought it was interesting.
Good prof, good course, I recommend it.
You are getting an overview of a lot of critical cell structural proteins. The names are similar, you have to deal with it, that's what science does to you at times. If you know what the proteins covered in class do you can do very well in the course. Very nice guy and goes over the trickier proteins again and again in class to try and help.
Peripherin...**** for pyros? Good times. Good prof...explains concepts clearly and tells you what he will test you on. Great class.
Great prof! Took the same course last year and had to drop it because it was too confusing when taught by Kelly. This year everything made sense and I got a 90 cause Sash actually took the time to explain things in class as well as providing relatively good notes online. His exams reflected his notes and was not too tricky.
Dr. Sash is cool. Lectures were well explained and notes are good; deftly better than Kelly. The avg on his midterm was an A. Way to go Serbia!!
For 282 (cell bio) Sash's average was high only because they needed to balance kelly's low average midterm. Rambles alot in 338, sometimes not sure of what he is really explaining, spent almost half a year explaining gastrulation. Incorrectly uses terms interchangebly which confuses alot of people. Sometimes seems very annoyed.
Not a very responsible professor, made plenty of mistakes (spelling, in class) but never bothered to correct them. i.e. incorrectly told us that the notochord undergoes apoptosis.....c'mon brush up on your skills before you teach!!!
He was the best professor I've had at Western. I wish he taught more than just two courses. He is fun and knows exactly what he's talking about when he's teaching, not a lot of confusion, which is good because there is a lot of potential for confusion with the courses he teaches!
Cellbio is brutal to begin with. There is a ton of stuff to memorize, but Sash tries to make it as easy for his students as possible. He tells you what you need to know, so do your work and you should fair well in the class
Very organized and clear. Everything made sense.
People only seem to like him because he is straightforward in 282...but he is only brought in to keep the average decent because an incompetent kelly teaches the first half. In 3338, the midterms and quizzes are decent but he purposely makes the final hard to drop the average..beware...he rambles so much in 3338 and at many points is not clear of w
OMFG! Great prof. Indepth of knowledge of subject area, plus made hilarious jokes to keep it interesting. Wish we had more bio profs like him. Plus he's hot.
Teaching: similar to 2382; easy to understand. Midterm/quizzes:Format is MC/SA. Overall really easy midterms and quizzes are easy depending on which TA you get (unfortunately TAs rotate every other class so it can be tough, but not worth as much as midterms.) Final exam: harder than midterms, but having ample time to study can still give you an 80.
He tries his best but at the end of the day makes too many mistakes to be allowed to continue teaching in a professional setting. His exams contain just as many errors as his lectures. He also shows no tolerance for feedback. Outside of the classroom he seems like a nice guy, but that's as far as that ball goes. Avoid if possible.
His exams are poorly worded, contain spelling errors and are often too vague. Majority of the questions are easy though. He speaks fast in lecture so it's hard to scribble everything down. Outside of lecture he's personable and awesome, which shows in lecture sometimes.
It really takes until the end of the course to see the logic behind its set-up. Sash is a very good lecturer and shows concern for students that you rarely see in a 500+ class. He acknowledges that some things are not fair, and he fixes them. Sure, he talks quickly and may make the occasional error, but overall he is a great teacher.
Sash is a good guy outside of class but is not a very good professor, which is kind of sad because he has nearly 1000 student lives in his hands. If you attend his lectures prepare for a whirlwind of (mis)information. And he writes his exams in Microsoft Word using autocorrect so there are many typos (eg. 'prophase' changed from 'interphase')
Overall, nice guy, funny in lecture at times..however exam questions can be worded very poorly and can be ambiguous, costing students marks..but after exams he does take it into account. Oh and be prepared to connect all the concepts in the course together by yourself, because they wont do it for you
Good professor. He is a very friendly man and does his best to clearly portray concepts. He actually repeats very important information, which is very useful considering that most professors fail to do that. Very fair exams, and he accepts multiple answers for questions which may have been comprehended subjectively.
He is okay in lecture but when it comes to exams what he does is just type it once in Microsoft Word with autocorrect enabled so a lot of words get changed. This would be okay except that he doesn't always read his exams before handing them to students so there's many typos which cost you marks. Outside of lecture he is personable and approachable.
Probably my favourite prof at Western. Straight forward and interesting. I've had him twice and both have been good experiences.
Great prof, repeats important info very often. Really nice guy
Very good lecturer, talks quickly but repeats important points and goes over complicated slides. He is easy to converse with and explains the processes very well. The MC questions can be very vague, sometimes frustrating and only 35 of them. However, it is a well taught course.
Best prof i've had so far. He goes very slowly, repeats everything a bunch of times, and is crystal clear. He also has a great sense of humour and is overall a great guy. His exams are easy--there are no tricks. I'm not a genius, and I aced the course.
Great prof great humour. Ppl that say it is hard dont know how to study. Very clear and concise.
goes very fast
I HIGHLY recommend you take his developmental biology class. It's interesting and the exams are easy! The exams are written, but they're pretty basic - his questions are all from the lecture material; it's nothing hard and doesn't require a lot of thinking/inquiry. Tutorials are also really easy - you just have to do one presentation!
Really great prof. Knows what he's talking about.
Clear and concise.
Great professor. If you enjoyed his teaching in second year Cell bio, you'll absolutely love this course. I would say in terms of content and easiness, Dev bio is better than Cell bio and slightly less difficult on the memorizing. Exams are writtenMC, but honestly not too bad. I believe both midterms were about 80 avg. Final was tougher, but fair.
Doing well in his course, but some of the things he tests he DOES NOT mention in the course. After studying the material like hell and memorizing every slide, there are still some questions where you are required to put an answer that is is NOT congruent with what he taught in the course....
Excellent course: interesting, straightforward, and easy to do well in provided you study everything he says.
Speaks really quickly so record lectures... but exams are super easy and straight forward! Just study all the material from the slides and you can ace the course.
Honestly probably one of the most clear and fair professors ever. He does speak fast BUT he also repeats himself so its fair
Decent lecturer, but talks really fast and speeds through material. Best advice is to record the lectures and go through them again once you are done class. Pay attention in class and go to lecture lol. Study strictly the slide show and don't really worry about the textbook
Really thought he was a good prof until the final. It's easy to get 90s on the midterms but our final felt as if he took questions out of a hat from previous years and didnt check if it correlated with our information. He screwed all of us over. Such a shame, we all admired him before that.
LOL damjam the final was tricky (and flawed tbh) but you can almost get a 100% on the midterms so its not that bad record lectures, listen through-- he repeats himself 18726 times
Woww, easy midterms, terrible final. Its like he wrote it the day before and didnt even check his spelling. brutal.
Amazing professor. Extremely easy to do well on the midterms provided you study thoroughly, final was much harder but still fair. Great lecturer because he repeats himself a lot which helps you take better notes. Very straight up guy, keeners beware.
He's honestly my favourite professor EVER, his exams are extremely fair and getting above a 90 in his class is completely possible. Some people complained about the final exam but honestly, if you study hard for it, you'll be fine. And yes, there were a few mistakes on his exam like others said, but he removed those questions so he's very fair.
Midterms were easy, but his final was riddled with typos and was a lot more difficult than midterms. He is not very approachable and speaks condescendingly when asked questions, especially when he doesn't have a good answer for the question. Talks clearly in lectures but towards the end of the semester he speeds through content.
This professor is so condescending to students. He is so rude and does not care about students. He acts like his exams are fair, when really they are hard and no matter how hard you study, you just cant get an A. His exams include material that he does not cover in class. He purposely tries to confuse you in the way he writes exam questions.
Took his course three years ago. Why does he even try to get along with these kids haha. You can tell he made half the comments after someone said he reused questions
Dr. Sash is a great prof. He's straightforward, doesn't pretend he's special, and tells you the honest truth. He repeats himself a lot during the lectures, but I think this definitely helps with understanding. He throws in a few jokes here and there, and does a good job explaining the material. The content is heavy, but his exams are fair.
Makes fair questions on exams and repeats important details he teaches during lecture. Does what a prof should do... overall a good experience.
Cell bio was enjoyable because of him. Really liked his lectures more than Cumming's. He repeats important concepts until you're sure you get it. Words things very clearly and concisely. Even if you missed one thing, he'll probably repeat it again if it's anything important or testable.
Sashko is definitely fair. He's funny too! But seriously, BE CAREFUL! His questions can be very easy, and some can be regarding a tiny detail he briefly mentions in the lecture. 100% of your grade is on exams, but a lot of the course is "memorize it, and then regurgitate it back." His questions are fair, and tries to make the material fun too!
He is just a go with the flow kind of guy. Cares about students enough to want them to succeed and isn't trying to trick you. He is a funny guy but the lectures can be kinda dull and easy to tune out so make sure to record them!
Hes a funny prof that cares about the students and lectures very well (repeats things, always reviews the previous lecture) so its easy to absorb. Office hours are really accessible.
He was a great lecturer and although his multiple choice was usually always fair, it sometimes included questions that were not even related to what he taught. Also his makeup exam for cell bio includes short answer that was hard to do at the top of your head. Would not recommend missing any midterms.
Damjam is definitely an excellent prof; he tells you like it is and doesn't try to trick you at all. Sometimes his questions are a bit tricky, but hey; they can't all be easy. If you study hard, it's really easy to do well in the course. Definitely would take a course with him again, he's really funny!
Damjan is not a good teacher and I found he does not treat students as adults. The lectures make no sense and you are left to your own devices when it comes to the exam.
Put an incredible amount of effort into his video lectures. Much respect
He's the best professor I've had at Western so far! His lectures fit the way I learn and study really well, and I was able to enjoy and do well in the course as well!
Professor Damjanovski is the best prof I have had at this school. He cares about his students and he really knows his stuff. He wants you to do well and is fair. Makes the material interesting, also.
Prof Damjanovski cares about us doing well. Do the work and you will be fine, he is always willing to help. Material is dry but his wit makes the classes very bearable. Great guy, Would def recommend.
Very straightforward teacher, quizzes and exams were very fair.
Lectures are engaging and easy to follow although exam questions can be unclear and misguiding
Damjanovski is not a good professor. It is incredibly difficult to follow his lectures and he would jump back and forth between topics which makes note-taking a nightmare. Schedules quizzes and midterms on SUNDAYS--the most inconvenient day for students. Uses Proctortrack for first midterm. Never responds to emails either. Avoid this prof.
Very good prof! he is very clear in his lectures about what we need to focus on for tests, and gets straight to the point.
It was easy to get used to his lecture style and I liked how he repeated some concepts several times in different ways to help students understand. I found that his test questions trickier than Dr. Cumming's and much more application-based but overall a good prof!
The material was boring but the lectures were very clear and easy to understand with no fluff. A bit of a dry, straight to the point teaching style which might rub others the wrong way but is really easy to learn from. Midterm questions were quite hard but quizzes and final are very easy. Easy 90+ if you just pay attention to lectures.
Take 3338 if only to see him place a beanie completely over his head (literally down to his neck) and attempt to explain involution by looking like a serial killer from a bad slasher movie
Damjanovski is truly a good man and a great prof. I was finding Cell Bio extremely difficult, but his clear lectures certainly aided in my understanding of the content. Midterm questions were very reasonable. If you have him as a prof, be sure to pay attention during his lectures - he pauses right after talking about something that will be tested!
Not sure why everyone gives this man glowing reviews. He is a mortifyingly brutal prof. His content is incredibly boring and he nitpicks the most random details. He claims that he is "doing the best he can for our success" when he is doing the absolute bare minimum as a prof. He schedules quizzes on Sundays with only a 2hr window as well. Avoid.
sash if ur reading this just know you have an opp somewhere. this man can't teach and his exams r incomprehensible. save urself and take cell bio in the summer
I liked him, I think he explained concepts well. His exams consist mainly of applied knowledge so you have to know your stuff, but he gives you all the resources and information to do that,
Brutal exam questions. Even if you take the time to read his questions VERY carefully, you'll still be left confused by his ambiguity. He is a good guy and certainly a funny prof at times... but he is NOT a prof you'll want to take, unless he start to improve his questions or curves up the final grades. Otherwise, please avoid and save your sanity
I'm not sure why he teaches... he clearly does not like teaching students, and the animosity he holds when holding office hours is night-and-day compared to Dr. Cumming who actually tries go the extra distance and make you feel interested in the content being taught.
He was a decent profs. His quizzes/exam quesitons were not great tho. There was a question that he gave us for a quiz that most people got wrong because he left out an important detail in lecture that was never touched on. He expected us to know it for the quiz, but then explained it away as our faults for getting it wrong. Total bs
Great prof, clear and delivered with the appropriate amount of sassiness. We must protect him from those students that say they have better things to do than go to your lectures/tutorials. Don't listen to the haters, sash. They just hatin bc they can't be u. #savesash
He is really nice & gives very thorough lectures. I loved his lectures from cell bio 2382 so I decided to take 3338. The course is test-heavy but his questions are fair if you can follow the content well. The content is pretty information dense but with enough preparation and making use of his office hours, I think getting a good mark is feasible.
I enjoy Sashko as a professor. From bio2382 and bio3338 he is very clear about what he wants and not want you to know. A con is he tends to go back and forth between topics often and adds extra information. A lot of people don't really know how to do well in his courses. Understand him on a deeper level, think like the Sashko, be the Sashko.
Very unfair. He will blame YOU for his mistakes and uproot the course syllabus to cover his tracks. We've been using brightspace for a year now, NO EXCUSES for incompetence.
His demeanor is offputting. Instead of recognizing his errors, he blames and (literally) punishes students. He constantly goes on about academic integrity and how its unethical that students use prep101. Maybe students wouldn't HAVE to pay for such expensive resources if your lectures were clear and actually useful???
This professor clearly hates his students and he prays on our downfall. He literally told the class he doesn't want us to get 90s and we should be getting 75s.
Lectures are UNORGANIZED, sometimes repeat his own words in an unorganized pattern. Can be hard to follow sometimes. Blame students for using online/external resources...
Greatest of all time. I will be taking dev bio. I love ECMs and cell migration. Thank you.
Lectures are so unorganized its genuinely embarassing. He loses track of his thoughts, repeats himself constantly. The slideshows are horrible...they don't contain any of the information we need to now, which makes following the lecture very difficult. I just know the final is going to destroy us all. RIP our GPAs
He doesn't care at all about the students, told us that we should not be receiving high grades on his lecture content and doesn't release any feedback to help us improve.
He does a terrible job explaining what he wants us to know for the class. His questions nitpick the most specific parts of lectures. The exam is so difficult so put so much effort into studying for the final. You can do well in the course but it's not because of Sashko, he is a bad prof and it is clear he doesn't want us to do well.
Decent lecturer, but speaks very fast. His part of the course is definitely more engaging. His questions are very hard but fair if you understand and memorize the content thoroughly. I spent more time studying for this class than classes that are considered harder. I liked that he repeated concepts and focused on the bigger picture.
