This class isn't too bad, but with Ivanov it sucks! All we do is examples then homework using MyMathLab on the internet. It seems like the only way to have a good grade is either be really good at math or go to tutoring because Ivanov doesn't teach, only gives examples.
Do not take this class if you dont have to. SO BORING, does not teach at all. Only goes over homework and examples.. does not respond to emails and does not let you make up work. Does not use book! homework is all online on mymathlab. HATED this class so much barely passed.
I <3 taking Sash. Its a boring class but that's math. The homework & quizzes r online. He usually gives a little under a week 2do the quizzes & u can do the quiz 3x's to increase your score. If u get a problem wrong on the hw u can do a similar problem 2still get the credit. & Test r mainly multiple choice.
Teaches pretty well & in response to previous comments, there isnt a reason students should need to make up work because he gives us 3 weeks before HW is due. And the professor is suppose to teach students the steps to solve equations. and the only way to do that is to show by example so of course we do a lot of examples
My first attempt at Calculus was in high school and I ended up dropping it. But taking it with professor Ivanov was a much better experience. Homework and Lectures are optional but if you go to class and do the home work there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. He's a very good professor and made business calc easy for me.
Hes the best math teacher I've ever had. Very clear, and if you come to class, he's much more willing to help. Holds plenty of office hours for you to come and do work with him. His tests are mostly multiple choice, and he doesnt use the text book, but uses mymathlab
He's awesome. He takes the time to make sure you understand. He actually teaches you. You miss one of his classes and you're screwed. Very patient, kind and helpful. Some may think he's boring and that the classes are slow but the point is you understand. He doesn't race, he takes time.
He can boring as hell but you will actually learn the material. He knows his stuff and is very helpful when you ask questions.
I really liked his teaching style, took examples straight from the textbook, posted online hw assignments that reviewed class work. His accent is a little difficult to understand but other than that, he's good. I would recommend going to class.
Very kind and helpful professor. Very willing to go over everything multiple times if you are confused. I am horrible at math and I got an A. Accent is a little thick but it was never a problem for me. Gives extra credit and prepares you very well for the test. Best math professor I had.
Good professor, a little hard to understand. Hwk is really easy all online along with the quizzes and we do a project at the end of the year.
Loved this professor! Yes, he can be a little boring at times, but I mean what Math class isnt? I went to his office hours multiple times and he is ALWAYS more then willing to help! He gives hw and quizzes online, tests in class. I was horriable at Math but he made me understand it and I passed with a AB! If I can pass Math, anyone can!
His accent is very thick so it is hard to understand at times. If you are great at math you will be fine, but if thats not a strong subject for you, dont take him. He is boring as well.
His accent is semi hard to understand, like others said. However, it is a very easy class. Test corrections if you come to class means you can get an A or B on every exam. The final project took 10 minutes to complete & homework/quizzes are online. Very easy class.
Has a thick accent, you'll get used to it. If you took basic algebra in high school it will be an easy class. The quizzes and homework are online, very easy. Tests aren't hard if you go to review the day before. He practically gives you the same problems. Don't bother buying the book unless if you want it for reference. Just buy the access code.
Super thick accent and some of the things that he would pronounce would make the class laugh at times. He is super nice and very helpful. One of the nicest teachers I have had at UT.
Super nice, very patient and very helpful. Helped me out a lot! I would recommend him to anybody.
His class is really easy and he's a nice guy. Always gives a review before tests that explains exactly what you need to know. If you somehow get a bad grade on the test, you can do corrections. It's completely fair and straightforward. People get 100-110% all the time on his tests.
he is a great teacher, very helpful. all of the homework and quizzes are online so you can do them as many times as you want until you get the grade you want. only like 4 tests all year. i would take him again. the only downside is his thick accent, its sometimes hard to understand him and it makes it harder for him to explain things easily.
great guy if you get to know him. you get used to his awesome accent (nothing better than him saying logarithm). If you go to class you will do fine, online homework before every exam, you get half points for all missed questions on exam if you do corrections, only way to get below A is if you don't try
Ive always been bad at math i failed math throughout highschool. He really explais and gives test corrections. all homework is online and so are the quizes. If you go to class and pay attention there is almost no way you can fail
Professor Ivanov has a very strong accent (possibly Russian, not really sure) but he's a really great guy and teaches the subject (college algebra) well. If you show up to class and do all the homework you'll get an A. He doesn't want to see anyone fail or do poorly so if you're having an issue he's very accommodating.
Hate math.. but sash is soo nice and is always willing to help... gives u soo much opportunity to make up for bad grades. love him! wud recommend to any one. also, he gives review packet, follow and ull get an A.
Sasha is a great teacher, and a great guy. The class is straightforward and he gives many opportunities to succeed. Would certainly recommend.
Sash has a heavy accent and is sometimes hard to understand. However, the homework is online and he gives you unlimited attempts, so thats an easy 100. He gives you three attempts on all quizzes and you can correct test questions for some points back on tests. He cares more about students actually learning the material than the grades.
Very understanding and helpful. Participate in his class, he sometimes gives extra credit to the one's that participate. Gives homework and quizzes but all are online and easy. Study as you would for any class and you'll be good.
he sometimes isn't clear in class and goes too fast
I had him for college algebra, and I liked him so much I tried getting into his precalculus class but it was full. He goes over each problem piece by piece and will work hard to answer any questions. When you do the online homework if you work to get a 100, it will help for tests. Overall easy and highly recommend.
He is one of the best professors I ever had
He's an amazing professor, so much so that I registered for the higher-level class he teaches.
He is a really good teacher. He helps a lot the students and explains clear. He is open and flexible.
He is truly one of the best professors I have ever had . He breaks down information and makes material easy to understand .He is extremely nice and always offers to help
He did an amazing job helping me with first year seminar . He is so down to earth and helpful .
math is a hard class in general but he helps as much as he can and goes really slow. pretty easy class and lets you do test corrections which helps alot. gives a lot of homework online
Professor Ivanov tells you day 1 and around final week of what to expect. His class has a simple grading style and he allows you to correct tests. Attendance isn't required, but recommended to learn the material since we never used a text book. Most of his homework is online and there is one project that is easy at the end of the year.
Awesome professor, helps you as much as he can. His tests are exactly like the review sheets, and gives you an opportunity to do test corrections on every exam. Attendance isnt mandatory but you might get lost.
Great Professor. If you pay attention in class it's an easy A. Anyone who says he is a bad professor simply does not try.
Best teacher I've had at UT. Easy class, easy tests (same as review). Lets you correct exams to get 50% of lost points back, (so if you get 50 on a test, you get 75 after correcting it). Easy homeworks that prepare you for the tests. Easy paper at the end. Extra credit on exams. Great guy that tries to help you as much as possible. TAKE HIM.
Professor Ivanov cares about his students. His class is not difficult but he still understands that he has a wide range of students who are at different levels when it comes to math. Participate in his class and he will appreciate you so much. I would advise people who had a hard time with math in high school to take him!
Really nice, good teacher. If you don't go to class and actually pay attention/take note, you won't pass. Not too much HW but his homework is basically practice for the tests. Gives maple tests before giving the real one. He's always willing to help and really notices you when you go to his office hours.
Best college algebra professor on campus, definitely recommend his class. He makes everything clear and easy to understand.
I think he is an absolutely amazing professor, if u are to taking any math classes .. it's should be with him ! He makes the material as easy as possible considering it is math ! I sucked at math let alone calculus for business and I passed that class only because of him! Take him for all ur math classes !!!!!!
The best Math professor ever . Very knowledgable, and very pleaseant . Definitely an excellent professor , and a great person as well
Definitely an amazing professor. He is so helpful, and always willing to help you anytime you have a question. He's honestly such a good person as well.
He is a really good professor! If you listen his lectures you can get an easy A.
Good teacher knows what hes talking about, and will explain if you are confused
He is the best teacher ever! He really takes his time to explain each new skill and makes sure to give plenty of examples. You don't need to buy the book!! Show effort and he might change a test grade or open a test or homework for you thats past the deadline! Go to his office hours if you need help. Easy A class 10/10 teacher !!!
I loved this professor, first time i actually learned in a math class, he emails you the exam sample the weekend before the exam, the homework and quizzes are easy & you can retake them if you do bad the first time. Attendance isnt mandatory but its math so i suggest you show up. Amazing professor & laid back. Take him if you can!
Ivanov is so sweet. He wants you to do well and is willing to help you if you don't understand. Go to his office hours for more help. Gives extra credit on tests and test correction can help your test grades a lot where you earn back half of the points you missed. Online H/W every week but you have 3 attempts. Easy A. Ivanov has a nice accent too.
He was my best and he is. This professor wants his students to pass, he cares about your grades and he tried all his ways to make his lectures more understanding . I will never like anyone like him. I appreciate all his work and his time with us.
Best teacher ever!!! I recommend him 100%. Took with him Intro Algebra and College Algebra and got A+!!!! Gives sample tests before exams and lets you correct your exams giving you extra points!!
Professor Ivanov was the best math professor Ive ever had. He gives in depth explanations, and made students prepared for exams. He gave 3 exams and every one had a "Sample Test" beforehand which was nearly identical to the actual exam. He was always available outside of class and genuinely wants to help students. I can't speak highly enough of him
He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see them do well. On top of that he is just excellent at teaching the material. I've always struggled with math but he made it my easiest class this semester
Ive always hated math until I had sasko. He makes it so easy by starting off slowand gradually making it more difficult. The homework and quizzes on mymathlab were super easy. And he gives sample tests with the answers before the actual test so if you just practice those you'll get an A. 10/10 recommend for any math class.
Amazing teacher, very good at explaining concepts.
Sasko was the best math professor I've ever had. If you show up to class you will do very well. His lectures were so clear and was amazing at explaining things. He would always give practice tests before the exam that were very similar to the actual test. His class structure was great as well. He is the BEST!!!!!!!!
BEST MATH PROFESSOR!!! I absolutely LOVE him. He goes over everything very throughly and reviews everything every time you are in class.. very accessible outside of class. Very approachable!!!
amazing person snd professor
One of the better math professors I've had. He is very considerate and doesn't try to "jip" or trick you on tests, homework and other expectations. Plenty of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade and ensures you get a good grade in the class. He is great answering any of your questions inside or outside class.
He is very clear and very helpful if you need help
He is very nice and understanding and always willing to help. he gives out test corrections and there are unlimited attempts to the homework assignments. Quizzes you get three attempts for and he sometimes gives extra credit at the end of the semester. While his accent is hard to understand, he is very good at helping students out
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! he really wants you to understand and feel confident in your math skills. I have never had a teacher who explains math so detailed. He makes it easy to understand and literally gives you a pre test with the same order questions of the test. I have never understood math more.
he gives you practice tests that are basically the same for the real exams. He'll explain something over and over in however many ways it takes for you to understand it. such a nice guy too
Every single second of class is used. very boring. hard to follow.
Probably the best professor I've ever had and will ever have. Thankful I had the opportunity to have someone like him for MAT 150/160. He does test corrections which you won't find many professors doing. He WANTS YOU TO DO WELL AND SUCCEED!! Show up to class and show you're trying. If you don't care well thats too bad.
Sometimes he is very rude .Furthermore, he said that there was no penalty for missing class, but he assigned 100 participation points that he never discussed with the class , and you can lose them if you dont attend to participate . Overall I had a negative experience with him.
Ivanov is a good teacher but is very lecture heavy. I took precalc in high school before this and would've been lost without it. He has a thick accent which is confusing at first but you get used to. There is a lot of homework but it's good practice. He gives out practice tests which are identical to the actual test and help a lot - DO THEM!!
Sasko was a great professor, his lectures were long but if you do the homework and practice tests (exactly like the actual tests) you will be fine. And he allows tests corrections for each test which helps your grade. He is very approachable and willing to help if you have any questions.
Mr. Ivanov was great. He really took his time to explain the material. Never be afraid to ask him to re-explain something if you are not grasping the topic or go to office hours for more help!
I loved Prof. Ivanov's class. It's very lecture heavy, but he's super nice and has a good rapport with his students, so class wasn't horrible. If you do the online homework and the practice tests, which are exactly like the real tests, you'll do great in his class!
A good professor. He will teach you the material needed, and he allows for test corrections. The class was boring, and there was little to no interaction between classmates. Standard lecture style class, but he does care and he does want everyone to pass. Class is important to attend, but the homework is the better teacher.
Professor Sasko Ivanov is one of my favorite professors at UT. I had him for two semesters in a row. He is so nice, and very helpful inside and outside of the classroom. The course load is light and as long as you complete the work he assigns you are guaranteed to do well. I definitely recommend taking him.
This guy is a legend.
I mean it when I say Sasko is one of the kindest, most caring teachers I have had throughout high school and college. I just finished my second semester with him as I took him for 2 classes. With classes switching to Zoom mid-semester, my grades tanked and I failed two tests. He was happy to meet with me on Zoom and help me out. Live. Love. Sasko.
This was the second semester I had him as a professor. For sure one of the best professors I have had at UT. The textbook isnt needed, a lot of the work is online. Show up to class, if you participate there is 100 points right there. He is always available for office hours which is helpful as well.
Very nice guy. Im terrible at math and my grade is really good. The homework is on MyLab which helps a lot because you have the examples to look at. He lets you do test corrections to earn some points back on exams.
Professor Ivanov is one of the nicest people I've come by, honestly a true gem! he genuinely wants everyone to do well and he teachers with such great spirit he doesn't mind repeating things and math being a pretty dreaded subject for many he makes it all worthwhile! Be sure to take him if you wanna enjoy math!
I have never gotten an A in math until I took Ivanov's class. He is seriously one of the best math teachers ever and he is so kind and considerate. He will explain a concept as many times as needed until you are able to understand it clearly. He also gives test corrections to bring your exam grades up. Hes a true gem and I 100% recommend his class.
Great professor, he really cares and is super flexible and understanding. He will always help you and if you do the notes and show up on review day, you will pass his tests and class.
Genuinely wants to see you do great and does everything he can to make sure you pass, extremely reasonable but make sure you go to class because he does move quickly ! Kinda homework heavy and the only thing you have to buy is an access code
Hes an awesome professor, very easy to get in contact with and homework is nothing too crazy. Quizzes are done online and you get 3 attempts. Tests are in class but we have review days and he walks through everything you need to know step by step. Overall take him, he's a great guy and cares about his students doing well.
Seriously amazing prof. He truly wants everyone to pass and is super flexible, homework is annoying but easy grade booster. He allows test corrections which is a godsend for people like me who are horrible with math. You can tell he wants everyone to succeed and will go over a topic 100 times if you need him to. Seriously amazing 10/10.
Prof Ivanov is a great teacher if you aren't great at math, and if you are his class is a breeze. He will go over something as many times as you need and is accommodating for makeup tests. Allows test corrections for 1/3 points back. Lots of online homework but helpful to study for tests. Class is not mandatory if you do well on tests.
Great prof, he really cares for his students and will stay after class to answer and explain any questions you have, His accent really isn't as bad as many say. The HW is easy and the tests are straightforward. If you aren't a math person he is a good prof for explaining things. No textbook use just printed notes
This professor is probably my favorite professor I have taken at this University. MyMathLab is self-explanatory and the assignments matter, however, there easy. He gives study guides prior to the exam that resemble what is on the test. I would definitely try taking this class in the morning. You're more awake and focused. His examples are great!
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. He gives sample tests that are almost identical to the tests, allows you to make test corrections , and if you get below a 70 on the test he gives another extra credit opportunity. Attendance is not mandatory, there are quizzes at the beginning of class but they play a minimal role in your grade.
Professor Sasko is a great and super nice professor. As long as you do your homework, show up to class, and ask questions you should do well in the class. The material could be hard but as long as you pay attention and put effort into understanding the material. He does give a lot of homework and his class can be boring!
If you do the homework, pay attention in class, you will get a 100%. This teacher is literally the best!!!
Sasko is such a caring and great professor! I took him for college algebra and he was very helpful whenever I had a concern. Overall he is one of the kindness professors I've had so far and the fact that he wants everyone to succeed shows that he cares for his students! 10/10 would recommend taking him!
Honestly, a nice guy...but the class was super hard. Thank god he lets us redo tests because I would have failed otherwise. Had to get a tutor for at least 4 hours a week. I've heard he's one of the better profs for college algebra, but if math isn't your thing id take someone else
Sasko seems sweet but hard to understand and isn't that understanding himself. I explained to him that I was having trouble in his class and was told he would send me external resources he never did. I always had a hard time with math and upon turning in my test, he said to me that I should have, "Just withdrawn from his class" Thanks a lot, sir!
Super nice guy. Makes class about how to get acclimated to UT. Shows you super helpful things, especially about registration.
A really nice professor. Exams can be a little hard but if you review the practice exams a few times you should be fine. He allows you to make up a third of missed points on the exams which helps! He truly does his best to stop and explain if you don't understand. Homework on Pearson every weekend so don't wait last min to complete.
Prof Ivanov, is a great guy and truly cares about his students he just isn't the best at explaining. If you are not good at math i would recommend him, as he gives a lot of extra opportunities and tries his best to help. Weekly pearsons and tests are HEAVY, but overall if you need a math class i would recommend taking him!
great professor and i liked his teaching style. honestly my grade in this class reflected my own abilities as i just have never been good at math. he explains everything super well and does test corrections for a third of the missed points which honestly saved my grade. lots of homework every week but they don't take too long. definitely recommend!
I absolutely love this man.
sasko is the best. he explains everything in class so well and is open to any questions in or out of class. his tests are hard but theyre super similar to the test review he gives you. he lets you do test corrections though to get some points back which helps alot. you get 2 attempts on the hw quizzes and unlimited on the actual homeworks. love him
I loved this professor. I do not like math at all but he was always willing to help out with anything I needed and he also let us do test corrections. He was very clear in what he expected and was very understanding and genuinely cares about his students.
Professor Ivanov has a slight accent but is easy to understand. If you struggle with math he may not be for you but overall he is very good at explaining concepts. Some of his real world examples aren't great. He tells you what types of problems will be on the upcoming tests and mistakes to be careful of which is super helpful.
Best math professor of all time, If your struggling in the class go to his office hours and he will gladly help you and even stay extra time past his office hour times to make sure you understand it. He stays after class everyday as well talking to students that have questions. Also, a very nice teacher.
He is so nice, he lets us do the test corrections to get better grades on the tests. Unlike other MAT-170 professors, you have to take the final exam it's not optional in his class.
The best math professor. Goes very slow and will stay after class with you if you need extra help or have questions. Office hours are EXTREMELY helpful and he has spent hours with me walking me though problems and concepts. As someone who struggles with math I highly recommend him.
Very kind professor. Makes sure the class always understands everything. He is so thorough and makes sure you are fully prepared before every test. We also have test corrections after the test and he replaces your lowest test grade with your final exam score!
Sasko is the best prof. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. He is really understanding; We had 4 tests; one of them was online, and the final. Online quizzes and homework every Sunday. But after each test, he lets you do test corrections, which helps u A LOT.
Math is difficult in general, but I loved Sasko. He lectures the whole class, but super helpful and kind. Tests are difficult, but super similar to the review and allows test corrections. Definitely recommend taking him!!!
One of the best professors UT has! Amazing guy who genuinely cares about the well-being of his students. Test corrections are offered after every test. He is super understanding and is willing to help you through any problems you face during the class.
Offers test corrections, probably an easy class if youre good at math. Test grades not worth a significant amount in overall grade
Absolute legend. Most excellent professor I think I've ever had. He gives lots of extra credit and test corrections and is fantastic at lecturing. It also has perfect office hours, and it is straightforward to understand the curriculum because of this professor.
It is easy to get your grade back even if you do badly on exams. But It was difficult to learn from him during class, so if I wanted to do well on a test, I taught it to myself.
He was a very nice professor and very lenient when it came to extensions. He does give a lot of homework, but it is manageable. He allows for test corrections, which is super helpful. I would take him again.
Hard to understand and lecutres all class. Assigns lots of homework and quizzes. will change the due dates of homework and quizzes and not tell the students, ducts 10% every day an assignment is late. You have to buy person to do the homework. Person is not a great cite, the grading on their is very difficult and annoying, escpically with graphs.
If you have the chance to take class with Professor Ivanov do it! He is the best teacher ever. I never liked math ever in my life and struggled with it, but after I had him I started to understand the concepts better. He is so sweet and very generous with his work.
I loved MAT160 with Professor Sasko! He was very understanding and let me reschedule tests without any trouble. He did repeat things a lot but it helped the concepts stick, and he always stayed after class to answer questions. He gives SO many extra credit opportunities. It's an easy A, I've never liked math and I ended with an 99. TAKE HIM!!
God bless this man. I am absolutely horrible at math and he was still so kind to me. Math is literally like another language to me, but I somehow passed with a BC which might not sound great but I've never done that well in a math class. The class was a bit repetitive, but I needed that because I understood very little. Definitely recommend!
Professor Ivanov is a kind and caring instructor. While math can be challenging, his office hours and extra support are super helpful. Unstuck AI made studying easier too.
He is a great professor but calc is no joke. you have to be prepared and he talks a lot about his algebra classes. but i never took college algebra. the class isn't taught like a business calc class its more hardcore and other teachers are more slow paced. but overall he is so nice and cares
He is a very sweet guy and he wants his students to do well and succeed. Sometimes he would cancel class before exams so people who needed extra support could come in if needed. This class was very easy for me because it's the same algebra I learned in high school, but if you do the work and do your best you should not have a hard time.
He is a very caring and good teacher. He knows how to teach and if you pay attention you will pass his class. He allows corrections for tests as long as you attend his class and is very flexible. He also has practice tests that are very similar if not the same as the tests. you should definitely take him!!
Professor Ivanov is the best. He really just wants his students to succeed. Super easy homeworks, and lectures are understandable. TAKE HIM!
Prof. Ivanov is a great professor but his accent makes it a little difficult to follow along. He uses the Final to replace your worst exam grade. He is super helpful and wants you to learn, but it is a difficult class.
He's great. I am pretty bad at math but if you apply yourself in this class you will do just fine. He's very helpful and if you study with the practice tests you'll do well on the exams. Not super homework heavy. He wants his students to succeed. You can do test makeups if you've missed 3 or less classes too.
Sasko Ivanov offers many opportunities for credit in his class, and wants you to succeed and do well at heart. On the other hand he does not speak English well at all and is extremely messy at writing on the board. He always talks about a different math problem instead of covering everything in the first one. His language truly ruins the class.
Professor Ivanov is a very caring professor. I took him in Spring 2022 and he's very good at teaching the material. Taking notes and reviewing his practice tests will ensure success in his class.
I have not taken a math class in 7 years, because I was away in the navy, but he is such a good professor that he caught me up on everything in a split second. You cannot fail this class and he is by far the best math teacher in UT.
I took professor Ivanov for both College Algebra and Calc for Business, I've always struggled a lot with numbers but he would help me a lot and was accessible all the time, he cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to do well, show up and do your part and you'll do just fine!
He is such a sweet guy. Thick accent, but you get used to it after a few classes. Sit in the front, he will love you. More of a calculus class than business clac. Offers test corrections for 1/3 points back. Usually get out 10 mins early. He lets us use 3 cheat sheets from each test for the final.
This professor actually makes math bearable. People saying they can't understand him probably just aren't used to accents, because I get everything he says and his explanations make total sense. He does tons of practice problems in class, which really helps. If I could take him for every math class I have to take, I totally would.
He is the best!!! He lets you do test corrections on every test and at the end of the semester he replaces your worst test grade with the grade you get on the final if you do better. The homework and quizzes are all online/pearson so they really help your grade. He also lets you use notes on the final. Best teacher ever and so caring and helpful.
Hands down the best math professor I've ever had. He takes the time to explain why things work the way they do, encourages extra help, and offers extra credit. I have taken two of his classes and did the best i've ever done in math. If you actually do the homework and practices, you will learn so so much. Highly recommend him!!
One of the best professors I've had. Super flexible. Offers extra credit. Material is hard, but he will help you through it. He really explains things in simple terms and will go above and beyond to help everyone pass and actually learn. 10/10.
I absolutely loved him! Math is a subject where you NEED a good professor and he was great. He thoroughly explained every aspect of every lesson and allowed us to use our test notes for the final. Also, gave us points back on exams after doing test corrections. Overall one of the best math teachers I've ever had.
He allows test corrections his lectures made sense and was overall a great proffesor
