Useful and interesting finance course. He has real professional experience and knows a lot. He expects a lot of work but he works too. Online lecture notes are a plus.

The class is extremely hard with lots of Math. Homework every week so you need to work. If you don't want to code think again but if you do the work you will learn a lot.

Prof. Mane is almost always available to answer your questions and really provides students with good feedback to help them understand the topic better. The lectures contained practical topics as well as practical techniques. I really enjoyed his class.

I took his class because no other elective was open. I was a lucky. True the class is very hard with math and coding work. But he is fair and grades on homework and take home tests. The course is interesting and useful Queens College need more profs like him for CS electives.

this course material is hard since this course required CS major student to know financial concept, but what you learn from professor is really usefully. It will trained you as financial engineer, which is required when for your future career. Professor is responsible, reply email quick and help you goes through concept, you will eventually get it.

He has great online notes, and gives take home exams. He doesn't grade the homeworks, but will give you feedback if you do them. Exams are very similar to the homeworks. He gives feedback on exams as well. He really wants his students to get a good grade. Material can get dry, but is very relevant in the industry. I highly recommend this professor.

The class itself was fine. There was a section where we had to do Differential Equations, and it was my first time doing a topic with differential equations, where I struggled. If you ask him for help he will reply quickly via email. He will give due date extensions if students need more time to understand the topic or simply there are other tests.

Tough class but If you do the homework you will do very well. Exams are based on the HW (mostly). Email him if you're having problems with the HW, very helpful and responds superfast to your emails. Second half of the semester was tougher, with differential equations.

Clear grading criteria, 70%midterm 30%final. Take home exams only for this semester which wasn't really a plus cuz exams were long AF/ tedious. Enjoyable professor to exchange emails with. Concepts are so difficult but the lecture notes are so damn clear. You won't find anything useful online to help. All code is in C++ which is such a drag. Quick and witty email replies. The guy below is right. If you get lower than A in this class, then you're incapable of doing your own hard work and do not belong in CS.

To take this class you better to have good c++ coding skills, otherwise you might face a lot difficulty. He is a good professor, very patient and understandable. You have to put your hard work, study for the concepts and do he work. You don't need a textbook, he will provide you everything you need. He is also a generous grader.

The class was heavy, and somehow boring. But the professor was very patient with questions. He replied emails very fast, we were kind of like "chat". We discussed hw and exam questions email like more than hundred emails, and all of them were good feedback. Very helpful and reachable outside of office hours.

CS361 was pretty easy. CS365 was a bit harder, mostly because I don't pay attention in class. But you can read his SUPER CLEAR lecture notes online. Please respect Him!

Amazing professor! This class is not for you if you are looking for an easy class. He is an amazing lecturer and gives really good feedbacks on every single problem. If you don't get at least A- for this class, it is clear that it is your fault. Tips: make sure to do the homework; they will definitely show up on the exams.

Overall, would recommend. Prof. is passionate about the material, responds quickly to questions. His lectures are not always clear (which I would say is the area where he could improve the most), but he has very thorough online notes which make up for that. Homework optional but if you want to do well on the exams you should do at least some of it.

He is a nice guy. if you pay attention and do the homework's regularly you will be fine. He has two midterms and a final. I found the class material to be pretty difficult, however he is only there to help you. He provides you with lecture notes that you can use for all of his take home tests, and he responds to emails almost instantly. Nothing but fair, always willing to help, and a great teacher.

Very different from your usual class. Has notes well written with examples available online, something very few professors provide. By no means an unreasonable person; not picky about little errors and deadline technicalities. If anything, he is overly fair. Do not mistake as an easy class however. You still have to put in a fair amount of work.

So, he cought 25 people cheating and failed them. This called being fair. All these years I have seen people are cheating and getting better grade than me. while I was working so hard. All the other professors knew they were copying/ cheating but didn't take any stand to avoid drama. I know these people even cant pass 212 by themselves.

Professor is very helpful. Always replies fast. Class can be hard if you don't go to the class. By take home exams I was able to learn more materials and it takes off a lot of pressure to perform well in the exam. Taught us a lot of useful and interesting techniques to code efficiently.

Work hard and do your work and he is more than fair. Cheat and he will catch and fail you. All CS courses should work this way. Take him if you can but if you are a cheater run somewhere else.

Overall Profit good professor - other bad professors given that other bad professors is < good professor. Professor's teaching is > than the number of other professors in school so we are in the money and I would go long/buy the class. The topic is challenging. BUT if you read the lectures posted online, you can finish the exams and find every question's clue in them. And the professor was an experienced programmer in the big company, so everything he shared is really helpful.

Professor Mane is really one of a kind. All of the exams are take home but it does not make it easy by any means. The material gets much difficult after the second midterm. Make sure to do all the optional homework and he will give you feedback. Hard work will pay off A; being lazy, try to be smart or even think about cheating F.

Professor Mane Sateesh is a GREAT professor. He will do everything he can to help you succeed in his class. This is the first time I grade one professor here, but professor Sateesh deserves it. He is one of best professor of Queens College, he treats each alumn as an adult professional person, assigning you responsibilities and examples of work as in real life. This professor has a ton of experience that wants to teach you and he cares that you learn.

With another professor this would be impossible. It is a very hard class. Prof Mane makes it possible. He will spend any time in person or by email to help any student. Do the homework and get his help to understand it. After that you can do the exams. Prof Mane is the best prof I have seen at Queens College.

Hands down smartest professor in QC. He treated me like an adult and I treated him like he was one of the dumb professors we have in QC. He caught me and 24 other cheating out of 75 students he was teaching. 33% of his class failed for plagiarizing final from previous semester. He also tagged chairman in the email. I am proud to fail and retake.

Personally i never went to class but that didnt matter. Professor mane always took the time to evaluate my work through email. I would read the textbook or online notes ask questions and he would answer. Class is freakin tough and I feel like I know more than most finance students. I also cheated and failed the final but passed the class!

The class is hard if you don't have the financial background. The professor replies your email very fast. And you need to do all the homework if you want to get a good grade in the midterm or finals. Final is much harder the midterm exams. The professor is a good grader and his lecture notes are very detail and clear. You should read. Good luck!

Even though I ended up with a very low grade, he is very interesting professor. He knows his material. Gets confusing at times but if you put work into the class you should pass the class without any difficulties.

Professor Mane is very intelligent and he is there to help you as much as he can. All coding is done in C++, but he gives you 90% of the code (and describes what the last 10% should be). Don't cheat and put in the effort. The weight of the questions are all different, but the biggest weight comes from the effort you put into the class.

Computational Finance was an interesting class. The professor gave real life examples and practical walkthroughs. He was able to present both the fundamental Math portion along with the c++ coding component all intertwined seamlessly. The course is challenging, so dont expect to get an essay A just because youre good at coding. Thread lightly.

If you really want to learn, I would strongly recommend to take his course. 211 is an very important fundamental class, I never see anyone could teach 211 so deep and detail. But the class is hard, take it only if you have the ability to handle with it. You definitely will learn a lot from his material. He has every lecture material on his website.

Make the effort and you'll be fine. He gave out a lot of homework and lecture notes, it was all very helpful. He responds fast and gives good feedback. His class is in the summer so deadlines are going to be compressed compared to the regular semesters. The lectures can be a bit all over the place but the lecture notes more than make up for it.

Dr. Mane is the best computer science professor so far in my CS major. He provides excellent lecture notes, feedback in homework and is very fair in his grading. Queens College is very lucky to have such a fantastic professor teach this fundamental course and strengthen our foundation in coding. I feel much more confident in my ability to code now.

Dr. Mane cares a great deal about you learning the material. He goes out of his way to upload Lectures and other helpful materials online. He is very active in terms of responding to emails. Yes he does call you out for stupid coding but he means well. If you complain about his teaching then computer science is not for you. I'm no CS genius btw.

He is a SUPERB instructor! He has excellent teaching skills which makes it enjoyable and easy even though his questions are often challanging (but practically very useful in everyday life). He is very fair in grading. If you put all your effort (even if you are not the most intellegent person) you can still earn an A.

I Had Him for CS365,he is so nice, caring helpful . he is very clear but he doesn't seem like he prepares before the class. he just kind of wings it which takes a little time to get the lesson going. But overall he is really great and you'll learn a lot and even gives advanced work if you're moving faster than the class. he never rushes anyone

Amazing lecture notes online coupled wth hw to practice the mayerials. Projects are very well written too. Although he gives extra long midterm exams for no good reason. Dont overwhelm the students into writing bad codes during exam with a lengthy exam you know nobody can finish. Great guy nonetheless and replies to emails quick even at 3am.

I see a lot of students being salty over here. This professor teaches you in great details and if you just read the lecture notes you won't even have to pay attention to lectures. He wanders off during lectures but he makes up for it by all the support he provides through notes. His hw is not graded but if you do all the hw you are set. The Best!

Dr Mane is the definition of a professor who actually cares about his students. As long as you are willing to try and work hard he is someone you can depend upon to help you. Have a question? Took him for 361 and 365 together for my last semester. Some of the toughest classes taken at QC. He makes u work for every point in exams or quizzes. Very knowledgable person. You have to do the HW and read his lecture notes and be on your toes everytime u walk into the class. It is worth taking. Do and HW and read lectures and u can do his exams!

He will help you as long as you are willing to be someone who wants to be helped. He replies back right away, doesnt make you spend money on an expensive text book and provides his own lecture notes which are of great quality and its quite detailed . Dr. Mane is passionate about teaching the material, and teaching you. He told us about when and how he's used the things he's teaching us in his career, and that's invaluable. The material is hard, and requires outside the box thinking. Like he stated many times, the purpose of computation is insight, not numbers. And this course is proof of that!

One of the best QC professors. His notes are well written and help you if you are confused in lecture. Homework relates to real life computer science practices. Overall if put some effort you will do good.

He's a pretty great professor. It's tough class but you shouldn't expect it to be easy, it's OOB in C++. I almost always came in really late to the lectures but I was able to catch up thanks to his amazing notes that he posts online. Overall, the only way you could fail in this class by this professor is if you make a willing effort to do so.

I was lucky to take Dr. Mane this summer. I have learned so much about C++, that i feel confidence about coding in c++ now(still i have a long way to do). His lectures notes on his website are much better than his in-class lectures. I stopped going to his lecture after the first midterm because the examples he was using on the board was too difficult for me to understand. Just take a good lab professor and this course should be very easy.

Professor Mane made his point very clear, put in the effort to do well and you will succeed. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but it is the effort to show up that mattered. Homework wasn't mandatory, but it was the effort to practice that mattered. He can come off as rude, but he cares enough to challenge students in order to help them succeed.

The class is based on Projects and Assignments. You are given plenty of time for the projects about a month plus random extensions to work on them. Professor Mane overall is a great person, he communicates and teaches a lot through email. He definitely is a great Professor to have.

Course was pretty easy. We did like 5 projects but only 3 of them were big. In class he will just look at your progress of the project. He is not going to teach you anything fancy but its upto you if you want to add anything fancy in your work. You can work in a group(4 max). He is always there for you and sometimes he shares his code as example.

I took 3 classes with him and got A/A+ in all of them cause I just simply put on the work. He gives feedbacks very quick. You can find all the answers in his online lectures so no need to wasting time on the internet. Sometimes people try to get the answers out of him without doing any work and then he gets mad. He curved and used the hw as bonus.

Despite what some of the reviews say, I think Dr. Mane is a great professor. You have to spend a lot of time understanding the concepts. He does make funny jokes in class which makes the class interesting. He is the best professor to teach Numerical Methods. "The purpose of computing is insight, not numbers" and it is evidenced in his exams and hw.

Dr. Mane is one of the best faculty at Queens College. He assigns projects beforehand and gives you plenty of time to complete them. His projects are individual projects but he provides helpful feedback to his students. He is very patient and but strict with due dates. Any submission after the due date receives an F.

If you're looking for an easy A, keep looking because this is not it. Don't take this class if you are not confident in your ability to put out a working product. Your grade relies solely on your skill. You will not be able to wing this class. If you cannot be serious and dedicated, don't waste your time or his.

He used to give the best lecture notes and homework assignments. Unfortunately that privilege was lost because of the students in this school. Its not the professor's fault. Know the prerequisites for the course well and understand material. He is a sweet professor and he cares. Grades may not be evidence of solely hard work, but you learn. I did.

CS365 was a really good course at the start of the semester. People should've done well at the beginning. Quizzes/Exams were open book. Everything needed was on his lecture notes. Unfortunately, lawsuit happened after 2-3 weeks and the lectures started going downhill. All online notes were taken down. I would take him again if online notes are back

Passionate professor. I think he deserves a chance. He might seem intimidating and curt at first. But he will take the time to tutor and explain codes. He is one of the few professors that is all about his students. He offers personal tutoring because theres no CS tutoring during the summer. Hands down, my favorite CS professor of all time! He is so caring and you can see how much he really wants his students to do better and be honest. His tests are pretty tricky but nothing out of the blue. His online notes are very detailed and easy to learn from. Read through the notes, play around with the code he provides and you should be fine.

Mane is one of the best CS Professor in QC. Caring and also willing to help after class if needed. If you are willing to put effort and study you'll do fine. I always recommend my friends to take him if possible.

In my opinion, I would say Dr. Sateesh Mane is an excellent professor here at QC even though I did not receive a good grade. If you guys want to learn OOP then you need to take him. He is a great professor and he teaches his students very well.

This class will be worth taking it, you will learn so many materials in 6 weeks. keep up with the materials by reading the lecture notes every day before class. His tests are really long. They aren't hard though, it's all standard class mockup (CSCI 211). Just insanely tedious to write. Especially if you have a coding style that looks neat on an IDE, but written, becomes a master's paper.

He may seem like a tough professor and uninterested but if you listen carefully you will realize the tests are exactly what he goes over in class. Complete the project and then you can literally get a 100 on the final. Final is running the program with what ever requirements he gives.

It is clear that he knows what he is doing. He can always explain if needed. Grading is fair. The concepts are easy to grasp but understanding how they work can be difficult. He expects students to be ready in class - bring a laptop and code up the material as you go or else you'll get swamped. Tests are based on your own code- make sure they work.

Okay. Hes not what people make him out to be. You can tell he cares about his students and he wants them to learn. Hes not the best math teacher by any means but he still wants his students to pass. His classes are more stressful than difficult though so I wouldnt take him again but if given the opportunity, dont be scared to take him.

One of the best professors out there, if you're willing to learn. He is not afraid to tell you that your code is trash, but that is just cold hard truth. He is one of the best debuggers out there. He will read and understand every line of your sphagetti code and give proper feedback even at 3am at night. Seek help and he will have your back.

Professor Mane wants all of his students to succeed but he will make you work for it. He offers challenging yet rewarding projects that will make you think and learn a lot from. Always responds quickly to emails and questions if you're unsure about something or looking for a code review He will forever be Cash Mane.

Straight forward person, will tell you how it is even if you don't want to hear it but will work with you if you are willing to put in the work. He may come off wrong but he does that to get rid of the weak/uninterested. If you stick through it and do the work His class is really easy since its open book just ask him what to do and do it.

He is the professor who truly cares about his students. If you want to learn something, let him know, he will help you. He gives the logical and clear knowledge about finance. He also focuses on his students attitude on his class more than their grade. When you email him questions, you will understand how enthusiastic he is. He is the good best.

Sateesh R. Mane is a real gem of CS dept. Some of the student from last semester tried to dig the gem and trick him , due to which I think he has changed his attitude towards student. He knowns how he is behaving, but he doesnt care. But, he is one of the professor who is ready to explain student after classes, through emails and any way.

The professor is very responsible. You can ask every question you have.

Dr. Sateesh Mane made the transiton to online learning great and worked hard to make the lectures engaging with student participation. He wrote excellent quality online lecture notes. He teaches us real world applications of the concepts we learn. Any university would be lucky to have this brilliant educator as a faculty member.

Professor manes class was interesting, he is respected by all his students. The questions comes from the review. There are bonus questions in the exam , so it makes easy to get good grades

Professor Mane is one of the smartest yet caring professor I have had the privilege to meet. if you try your best on exams , participate in his lectures and email him any questions you may have , then you are guaranteed to pass the class. He also takes his time to make notes for his students to review. Highly recommend him.

Professor Mane is hands down BY FAR the best professor at QC CS dptmnt. Follow his lectures, show that you care and you are willing to learn and you will be guaranteed to pass. Do nothing and you will be GUARANTEED TO FAIL. I have taken 4 classes with him and it sparked my interest to learn more about the topics. Wish he would stay longer at QC

One of the best professors at Queens College. His classes are no-nonsense practical classes. He wants the students to think about the real-world implementation of everything we learn which I think is the best part. You won't regret taking his classes.

Course topic: Linear Operator. Two exams. Each one weighs 50% of the final grade. Dr. Mane's online class seems like an ASMR channel with full of humor and interactions. The course is not easy, but Dr. Mane provides many lecture notes and assigns exams early to give his students enough time to do.

There are many good professors in queens college, but this one is a gem. He is more focused on skills that you will need once you finish your degree rather than textbook stuff. His projects will be based on the real-life scenario, projects are hard but he will answer your question even at 2 am. He cares about students.

Professor Mane is one of the few CS professors in QC who actually felt sincere and wasnt simply reading off a textbook. I could tell he actually cared about what he was teaching and the students he was teaching to. I was worried he was tough based on stories - and he was - but I could tell he did it because he CARED. I heard some pretty bad things about him coming in, but honestly he was a good teacher overall. Fair homework and exams, good feedback and criticism, and fantastic lecture notes.. He is also accessible via email at literally any hour and responds back fast. However, he is very rude whenever someone makes a mistake and will call them out.

He can be kinda abrasive but he truly does care about his students, and I respect that. Hes also accesible by email and will respond literally no matter what day or time.

He always emails the class with tips and extra information. Exams were fair. If you understand what you're doing on the homework, you'll do well on tests.

Offers you an abundance of resources online, and his lectures are great. Make sure to practice, attend class, and keep up with the online sources, and you'll be perfectly fine. Professor Mane was always returning emails quickly, and with thoughtful feedback. Honestly a gem to study under.

Professor Mane may come off a bit harsh at times but he is a very intelligent and passionate professor. He also offers deep insight into the language of C++ since he actually worked as a software engineer for a financial institution. His lectures were great and he even recorded them plus his lecture notes posted online are the best I have ever seen

Great professor, especially for online class. Lecture notes are KEY! Probably the only resource you will need to complete all homework, and do well on test. Took him for his online Summer C++ class. He is really passionate and strict about what he is teaching and cares that his students understand the material. If you closely read and understand his lecture notes, you don't have to attend lecture, although it is helpful. Do every HW and ask him relevant questions you might have and you'll do well.

Professor Mane is one of the best CS professors Ive had. His lectures are very helpful and he always emails additional notes or explanations. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. Homework is step by step so for those who understand its not too difficult, same for exams.

Professor teaches us patiently and well respected by all his students. He likes when we ask him questions. He will repeat a topic if its not clear to the students. His grading policy and exam is also fair.

Fair and smart prof, no none-sense, an accessible out of class. If QC loses this guy they are really screwing up, half the dept sucks and the other half is either smart but not good prof or good profs but not smart. Mane is one of the only profs who is smart, good at teaching, and patient.

Took for CS 361 Numerical Methods He spent most the lectures just doing examples and basically forced us to participate or he would do nothing. But there was also very little you actually needed to learn, you were encouraged to write a program to take the tests for you. Dude is clearly checked out but he if you participate he will give you an A.

Not a tough grader. 1 individual project. 1 group project. 3 exams and 1 final. All of them are textbook questions or at least similar. No need to buy a textbook. There is a free PDF version.

Took his summer class for CS211. Even when class was over, he's email us tips and tricks about the course to, not only shine some light on cloudy subjects, but also give us an edge over the rest of the students. Will give you every opportunity to pass the class. Would crack the occasional joke. 10/10 would retake. No Mane, No Gain.

Prof Mane is a one of the best CS professors I've taken at QC. He really knows the material he's teaching and teaches us in a very practical manner. His lectures are VERY useful and while his homework and tests are tough, he is a generous grader and gives amazing feedback.

Hes a real gem to QC and it sucks that hes leaving. He was one of the only great CS professors who helped out their students and who made sure that we all knew what was going on. His lectures are clear and if you dont understand anything, hell give in depth explanations. Hes a great professor and the homeworks were fun to do

I took his online course in the summer. He had no problem with online classes. He expects a lot of work but also puts in a lot himself. He replies instantly to any email at any time and is always helpful. He expects students to work and can be rude to students that don't. If you are willing to work he is the best choice for this course.

I took a different professor for 111 (not Ryba) and hated C++. I was about to drop out of CS as a major. After taking 211 with Professor Mane I ended up liking the language a lot. Professor Mane teaches the concepts short and to the point. He did the online class really well. Highly recommend.

Professor Mane is so caring. I wasn't sure how this 211 course would go but I'm so thankful I took him. He taught me more C++ and good design than I ever expected to learn. The course ended weeks ago and he still sends us emails for our knowledge. He's so smart and has a cool way to teach CS classes. I'd take him for more higher level classes.

Sometimes I feel during lecture Professor Mane can be a little confusing but his notes more than make up for it. And he recorded the lectures so if we had any specific questions he's always helpful. He cares that you learn and he'll put the effort to make the class fun. He's hilarious too. Can't get better than that.

Professor Mane has a soft voice so it can be easy to doze off. He does explain the concepts short and simple. Super funny. Learnt a lot. Wish he stayed at Queens College. He is a unique professor, cares about his students, respects people who do their work honestly. Don't play games with him.

I took this professor few years ago. His class is by far one of the hardest I've took. But I can vouch that this professor has a kind heart and he genuinely does care for his students who want to try their best. A lot of us students at QC really miss him. I remember how he would send encouraging emails to us, and send us code exercises to solve.
