AWESOME TEACHER, you don't need a tutor, all you need to do is read the lecture notes and do the homework problems. He basically puts the learning completely in your hands which is what i like. Tests are very easy and straight foward! TAKE HIS CLASS.

It's true, his English is hard to understand...but you don't have to go to class, buy a book or study for the tests. If do the online practice questions and homework, you'll get an "A" on the tests.

Mandal can't speak English! I didn't learn anything because he has online notes that don't explain anything at all! They are in a different language I think! I did just well enough and did just enough homework to get a B. The TAs and Mandal were never in their office hours either. If you want to learn something take it from someone else.

I needed a stats class and was not very interested. Mandel is a bit hard to understand, but if you go to class he gives you the equations and then just plug in the numbers from your homework to get the answers. The exams are open note (don't need to buy a book!!!) and the quizes you can take as many times as you want.

This class was beyond easy. I finished the class with an A three weeks before the semester ended, as his final was optional. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Pretty easy 20 min quizzes. 2 semi-easy tests and an optional final. He even allowed me to make up a quizzes up until the last day of school. And no homework.

Every Friday there are quizes instead of homework throughout the week. The quizes aren't too bad but the tests are extremely easy. The final was optional too.

This guy is the easiest teacher ever. All the homework and his notes are online. Everything is easy. The tests are >10 multiple choice questions. All you need to do to get an A is go to class the week before the test and listen to the review because he covers it all in a day or two. I highly recommend this class if you need a math to graduate.

this might be the easiest class that I have ever taken.... and i mean in my life, which by the way I could have gotten an A on this as a Fresh in highschool. this guy is a great example of why language barriers suck, but god he def makes up for it by basically giving everyone an A.

Yes, his pronounciation needs some work, but I think he was awesome! No attendance, he helps you if you ask, online homework for which he extends deadlines, and an optional final! The lectures were a bit tedious but he was a nice teacher and explained things well.

I absolutly hate math. I took math 105 with Mandal... and by far the EASIEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN. EVERYONE MUST TAKE THIS CLASS. Homework is all online (FILL IN THE BLANK UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT NO WORK NECESSARY), no attendance points, tests are 8-10 questions MULTIPLE CHOICE NO WORK NECESSARY. I passed with a 99.5 because i missed 1 test Q.

By far the easiest math class at KU. You don't even have to go to class because all the lecture notes are online. All of the homework is online, and he always extends due dates. Tests are no more than 10 mulitiple choice questions....a must take

It is definently an easy A class if you do any studying (I didn't...and I still have a B) His homework is all online and you get to keep trying until you get the right answers. The tests are multiple choice and just like the homework. You can take this instead of calculus for the math requirment!! (For some majors) Take this easy class!!!!!

The easiest class you will ever take. Period. I came in a month late, and they were learning how to average numbers. Needless to say, I went to class 4 times (for the tests) and pulled off the easiest A of my life. TAKE THIS CLASS FOR THE MATH REQUIREMENT!

i went to class a total of four times, each were for the tests. the tests are multiple choice 7 or 8 questions and it's almost too easy to cheat. a 600 person lecture class and only one teacher and a couple of TA's. all the homework is online so no need to go to class. easiest A i've ever received.

Easiest A I've ever gotten. I went to class 4 times. Everything is online, and cheating is the way everyone rolls. Don't bother going to class because he is hard to understand.

He is an awesome teacher. He helps you if you are interested in the class. He always says he does not believe in tricky or difficult questions (I agree on that one) He have a lot of info on the Internet, which is awesome because if you want to teach yourself, teach yourself. Very easy class and it only takes about a week to get used to his accent.

It is an easy class but Prof. Mandal's English is EXTREMELY hard to understand through his accent. Sadly most of us do have to cheat. But then, when you're teaching yourself a class that you have to pay for, who wouldn't...

This class is perfect for majors that you don't need much math for! It's difficult to understand him because of his accent but you don't need to attend class- its all online! Test days are the only days to come. As far as the math skills needed, very minimal.

There are a total of 350 points in the class, and 300 of which are from tests. The homework felt like a complete waste of time. He's not the nicest guy...in fact, he told everyone he would get "fired" for giving any extra credit. I think the language barrier was a really big problem. However, I still got an A and only went to class 4 times!

He is VERY hard to understand due to his thick accent. He is not eager to help with questions or offer any leniency. The online homework is a waste of time and if you do not understand it good luck with the the tests. His lectures do not pertain to the homework or test material.

the only good thing to say about this class is that you dont have to go. hes difficult to understand, and absolutely everything is online. the tests were worth 100 pts each but were only 9 questions, mult choice. very easy to get an a on the test w/o having any idea what youre doing, or the other way around. just go over the hw & show up for tests.

Accent is difficult to understand, and if you mess up he's not going to give you a special way to make up the grade. That being said, he's not a bad teacher. My fatal (B) mistake was never going to class. Homework is online, answer as many times as you want. You can use all notes on the test. Tests are only 10 questions, so get them all right.

Professor Mandal's first language is not English and it is difficult to understand him when he teaches. Honestly everything is online going to class is completely unnecessary, do the homework online and show up for class on exam days.

Easiest class I've ever had. Impossible to understand though to him. All the HW and Lecture Notes are online. Lecture Notes can be used on the 3 tests so it's like cheating. Going to class is useless.

Basically an online class. All the notes and HW are online. Tests are in class and open note. EASY, EASY A!! Attended the first class then only went to take the tests and received an A.

You won't understand what he's saying but THIS CLASS IS AN EASY A. Homework is online and you get as many chances as you need. There are 3 easy tests that are 9 questions each that you can basically talk to your neighbor about and he wont look up. EASY A

The class was very difficult because the instructor was impossible to understand and made no effort to offer any help. Essentially we were learning how to use a calculator. Worst teacher I have ever had.

all of his notes are online and he makes everything easy to understand with his notes and teaches how to use the calculator. He puts practice questions on the notes so it is easy to figure out the online homework. Tests are straight forward and he allowed us to bring his notes from online, nice guy, tried to make it as easy as he could

I went to class mainly because I felt bad cause no one else went but EASY A! He also offered extra credit for attendance which further boosted my already high A. One benefit from him going over his notes in class though (which are all posted online) is that some steps MAY be confusing and he points out exactly how to do them. Tests are the homework

Don't understand why his ratings are low. He is a sweet man, who knows math. Use notes (or anything) on test. Notes on line are AWESOME. He started giving E.C. for attendence, but you really don't have to know if you make sure when your tests are because he changes them. He will help you if you have questions and his notes are very clear. EASY A.

This is such an easy class! Satya gives you easy to read online notes with tons of examples in a step-by-step format. It is basically handed to you. The homework is easy, all you have to do is read his online notes. The only bad thing about Satya is he is hard to understand. EASY A!!!

Class was a joke. Students email all the answers to each other. Teacher was completely incomprehensible. Nobody went because nobody understood what he said. People cheat during the tests constantly because TAs are texting. Horrible class, easy A.

The class and tests are extremely easy if you understand the homeworks. He didn't require attendance so I would just drop off my homework and leave...eventually he caught on and threatened to require attendance but it was too late in the semester. His lectures are useless

Really nice guy. Very thick Indian accent and misspells a lot of words. Replies to emails right away. Lectures are incredibly boring. Only need to show up to class for the tests because everything else is online. If you are good at teaching yourself math from online lecture notes you will do fine.

Only one test and it pretty much determines if you get an A. But show good participation and homework and you can get the B+ in this course. Definitely easier than 790.

I don't know why everyone is complaining about this class. It's extremely easy. If you need help, go see the TA. You don't even have to show up to class. There are only two tests (second testthe final) and you get to use notes. Easy A.

He uses an odd grading scale which makes it difficult to get a really good grade but almost impossible to fail the class. About 85% of your grade comes from three exams, and the rest comes from homework. He posts his notes online which have lots of examples. If you understand the homework and make a good note sheet, the exams are really simple.

Difficult to understand through accent. Puts all lecture notes on his website and in-class lecture is just him walking through the steps. Not very good at explaining concepts. Likes proofs, but only shows steps and gives little/no explanation. Grades easy and allows a page of notes on test, though.

He made this class as easy as possible. There was no final, which was awesome. There was no book, just his online notes. A two sided cheat sheet was allowed on all 3 tests. It really is up to you how well you do in this class. If you take the time to go through his notes, learn the material, and do the homework from it, you'll be completely fine.

Terribly hard to understand, plus he mumbles. Lecture is just him pointing at slides with a laser pointer and reading them to you word-for-word. Very uninvolved... He will literally bore you to tears. After the 1st week, nobody went to class except to take a test or turn homework in. Had homework once a week and it was always ridiculously long.

Hard to get an A, hard to get anything less than a B+. Expect to teach yourself everything, not a good teacher. The bulk of the points are from tests, & the bulk of the test points are from the take home portion, which you can use on the test. First and second tests are easy, but the third is a bit harder. Problems similar to homework on the exams.

He has very boring lectures and constantly goes on tangents that are unimportant to the class. His excuse for these distractions were that, "knowing jargon is helpful." Although, this class is very easy! As well, he has all of the material online to help you out by not needing to buy a text book. However, I would not reccomend him as a professor.

Prof. Mandal is very smart but he is not good at explaining the essence of linear algebra to students. He only lectures off of poorly put together slides he makes for each lecture and posts to his own website. He grades homework and the tests incredibly generously so the class is easy but you won't learn much.

Doesn't explain anything and gives no feedback. Told our class that he is taking points off of everyone's exams because no one is attending class where he just talks about random things and uses poor slides that are available on his website. Very hard to get an A, but also very hard to get anything below a B+. Do not take.

Professor Mandal's course (MATH 290) is mostly teaching yourself the material. However, this professor provides detailed notes (in form of slides) that will help you with your homework and tests. Overall, I think it is hard to get below a B in this class because there are only 2 exams and most of the work is homework.

Mandal is by far the worst professor I have ever experienced. His lectures are almost impossible to understand, he is extremely unwilling to give feedback, and even more unwilling to admit when he is wrong and a student is right. I had to teach myself everything. I got an A- but learned absolutely nothing from him, steer clear at ALL COSTS.

One of my frustrations with Professor Mandal was the lack of effort put forth. There are many errors in the homework he posts online, and when going to visit him in office hours, he said "Anyone who comes to class should've known this". It's frustrating to be put down when simply trying to understand the course content he slopped through in class.

He grades based on homework and tests, but if your test grade is lower than your homework grade, he excludes the homework grade. In other words, you want to do well enough on the homework (which there is a lot of) just so that it won't count and pull down your grade. That aside, his lectures are useless; no one can understand him.

Genuinely the laziest prof I have ever seen. Gives busy work for homework and will give you a 100% on them no matter what. You can honestly stop showing up 2 weeks in, and you will be successful and still end up with an A.
