Great teacher and was ALWAYS helpful. Really cares for his students. Was always available, in the classroom and out. Wish more teachers were like him.

Hard to understand, but gives lots of extra credit. No doubt he wants you to pass.

Mr. Grunfeld is a little hard to understand but he is nice. He tries his best to help you out as much as he can. I like the fact that his exams is straight from his notes. He is a nice guy agin that cares.

He is hard to understand sometimes. I attended the SI session w/ Adrienne before each class where we reviewed what would be on the test. That definitely helped. He curves each test and your final grade, drops your lowest test and lab, yada yada yada. I think it'd be hard not to get a least a C.

Only tests on material covered, and will go over material as many times as you need. Available before, during and after class for help. Always extra credit, And grades on effort as much as results.

I failed this class twice. Im taking it with Saul and its wonders how easy it is to understand. He is a great teacher all you have to do is listen to his lectures. Tests are only on what is covered in lecture. Labs are soo EASY. Take this prof. if you can.

Sal although has a slight speech impediment does everything he can to help you understand the class. Test are from the lecture notes he provides. If you go to class and study should be no problem getting a A. Would recommend as an instructor. He wants to see you succeed.

Very easy class. He prints out his lecture notes and gives you the formulas on the exam. tests from notes. You dont even need to buy the book.

Took him this winter '08. Really enjoyed his class. Great teacher! If u hate science or r intimidated about taking it in college, please take him. He gives lecture hand outs which is always a plus. If u attend his lecture the test wont be hard, of course you'll have to do ur part. Lab is pretty easy bcause he is there if u need help. Good Luck

Mr. Grunfeld is brilliant, sweet and funny! I am so glad I took the class with him but I am kicking myself for not doing the extra credit at the end-it may have boosted me up around a B!! I got a C. If you show up all the time to lab and class, you'll do fine-he doesn't want anyone to fail-he'll work with you! This coming from an English major!!

He is an absolutely wonderful professor. He is passionate about teaching chemistry and is very helpful. It is like a breath of fresh air having a teacher that actually wants you to do well and teaches well. Study and take good notes, go to every lecture, lab is a piece of cake.

He is such a good teacher. He explains well and has a good sense of humor. Don't be late to class or come back from break late because he almost doesn't tolerate it. Lab quiz notes are given to you prior to lab so there is no excuse for failing it. It's almost word for word. Lecture test examples are also given which I find very helpful.

Mr. Grunfeld is somewhat unorthodox. Pay attention - listen attentively and follow his lecture notes. His test are formulated around the lecture notes. Use the book as back up. Come to class and make an asserted effort and you will do well in his class. I would certainly take him again!!

Saul is a great guy, tests are easy, basically gives you all the answers in lecture notes.... A little hard to understand but will repeat things without question!!! Gives you all of the answers for lab exams so there is no reason you can fail those.... Takes forever to post grades!!! Overall a great teacher who wants you to learn and comprehend

Mr. Grunfeld is a great teacher. He wants you to learn. Show up to class, go to lab, take notes and you'll do fine. Exams are a little tricky, so you have to know the material front and back. You can't BS your way thru a test. Study Instructor big help. Go to sessions. He gives you the answers to the lab exams. Definitely recommend if need CHEM1000

SI Hilda is awesome and material is easy to undertand if u pay attn and do a little homework. You can get an A if you try, tests not bad, lots of xtra crdt opportunities. He enjoys teaching and you will like his class. Tutoring is available and you'd have to try pretty hard to fail this course. I hate chem and enjoyed his class!

Great instructor. Very sweet and helpful if you need it. Somewhat difficult to understand, but he will repeat anything you missed. SI was very helpful. exams were fair, you need to study to do well on them. Not an easy A, but he gives extra credit opportunities and he is very helpful.

BEST CHEM TEACHER EVER! I am not good at chem at all and have very poor math skills. The way he teaches makes everything easy if you put the effort in to understand. Will always answer qustions. I had a problem with my car one day and missed the fist half of class so he stayed over an extra 15 min and explained to me what I missed.

Mr. Grunfeld is a wonderful instructor. His material is straight forward and the book is helpful. Exams can be tricky but reviewing end of chapter questions are very useful. His SI Kaisa was most helpful in explaining difficult and challenging content. You're not only able to understand info for exams but it's helpful in practical application.

Great teacher. Wants you to succeed, and goes out of his way to make sure you understand everything. SI Hilda before tests also extremely helpful. Basically goes over the exam, and gives you hints on what will and wont be on the tests. Labs are super easy and short. Usually only one hour long. Highly reccomment taking his class.

Greatest teacher ever!!! I loved him I took him in the winter of 2010 You have to keep up with the class take advantage of his SI Hilda she is great and helped me tremendously!! You do have to study and don't need the book! Is still a hard class but can get an A, I did without any chemisry background!

Hes a very nice gentle man however I wish he was more easy to contact.Emails+calls do not work with him. It takes a VERY long time to know test results-3weeks on santrons is..?I dont understand.There is no feedback in his class you have to ask him to see your actual test.the test is fair- everything we covered in class:)still would recommend though

I dont know what anyone is talking about here. This guy is awesome. First of all you dont need a book, only his notes that you can buy for 8 dollars. Yes it takes a while for him to grade but who cares thats irrelavent to the class. All you need is his notes if you get that an A is more then possible

I am currently in Mr. Grunfeld's (CHEM 1000)Class and I have an A thus far! If you do not understand anything about CHEM, please take him because he is very passionate and knowledgable about CHEM and he certainly has a quirky sense of humor. He stays after class to answer any questions. I was afraid to take CHEM, but now I'm confident with Mr. G!

Great professor and great SI (Hilda). They both work as a team and make sure that the students understand the material. He even postpones a test if he thinks the class is not ready. Try to find that somewhere ells. I'm taking Chem 1320 and Orgo with him if he teaches it. Don't buy the book and don't talk in class. He demands and deserves respect.

Awesome instructor and SI (Hilda). They both were very helpful and made the class alot easier to understand. Didn't require the book because the instructor has great notes that are very easy to understand. I was a little intimidated by Chemistry before I took this class, but professor Grunfeld made it easier for me. I'm taking him for organic chem.

I took Chemistry 1000 with a different professor at Orchard Ridge campus, and I failed beginning with the first exam! 3 exams into this class with grunfield... I'm averaging a high B! :) he's very helpful, fun, the work is complicated! But he understands that everyone isn't Einstein, and teaches in a way that everyone will understand!

Prof G wears his heart on his sleeve. Very caring instructor and will go the extra mile for his students. You must attend and if you want an A you MUST attend his SI sessions!! SIs are awesome and very supportive. Better than any other Chem instructor at OCC by far, just look at his waitlists. If you have to take chemistry, take Professor G.

Grunfeld has a big heart and good humor. As much as I love him he does get a bit unorganized at times and also has a hard time keeping schedule. We would get out 2 hours early some days which was nice. Love him overall, remember-- Chemistry is not easy. You need to apply yourself. Grundfeld is probably the best option at OCC. Mr. Grunfeld is a very good professor. He pays attention to all the students. Even though English is my second language, I still understand Mr. Grunfeld well. He is an overall good professor, nice, but lacks clarity when explaining concepts much of the time, which is why you MUST attend his supplemental instructor Hilda's review sessions! Just finished chem 1000 with a 99%. I studied quite a bit and went to one SI session per week. Professor Grunfeld loves what he teaches and is such a sweetheart, though is sometimes not easy to follow as he has an accent and talks very fast. I think going to the SI sessions were key to my understanding of the material.

Professor Grunfeld is a very enthusiastic professor. He is very helpful & loves to crack a good chemistry-related joke. He also has a very helpful SI that is there before and after class, & she helps clear up anything you're having trouble with. The only thing I didn't like is that Grunfeld isn't teaching any other chem classes other than CHE 1000!

Professor Grunfield, is the greatest chemistry teacher and Hilda the SI is fantastic. The tests are exactly like the study guide and before each exam Hilda will go over the test right before your exam and she will pre-test you. I will take Grunfield again!!

Dr. Grunfeld is an amazing instructor. However, Organic Chemistry is NOT an easy A. You must attend lecture and you must study. He and his SI Hilda will always be there to help you, but you must be willing to put in the work. Especially at the beginning of the term. Know your material and naming is important. The second half of the term is easier.

Chemistry is one of the worst subjects imaginable for many (me included), but Grunfeld knows this and makes it as easy as possible on his students. Well organized, very clear cut, and a costum made textbook hardly thicker than a pencil, the majority of students are sure to be able to pass his class or get an A.

First of all, I have not taken a chemistry class in 15 years and I wasn't good at it then either. Mr. Grunfeld made this class better than I ever could have imagined. He has a S.I. that goes over the same information after class and it is a good review to make sure that you completely understand everything. I found his humor funny, too.

Grunfeld is a smart guy and really nice, but not very organized. I know he doesn't teach 1510 very often but the course was a bit of a mess. We ran out of notes three weeks before the end of the semester. That being said, I did learn a few things and he and his SI did their best to prepare us for every test, even reviewing RIGHT beforehand. Easy A.

Honestly one of the BEST science professors out there. Mr. Grunfeld cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Definitely considering taking his general chemistry class.

Seriously, one of the most caring teachers! Emails suck, but if you hunt him down before or after class he will sit with you as long as it takes for you to understand it. He is wicked intelligent and knows that this is not the easiest subject to understand, so he helps as much as he can! His SI is the complete opposite of him, however.

While I consider Prof Grunfeld to be a great teacher, the SI Hilda is what really makes this class exceptional. Without her, getting an A in the class would be much harder. She teachers an hour before each lecture. It's not mandatory to attend her sessions, but I would highly recommend it.

go to the si sessions, you wont pass without them let alone get an A. he can get a bit annoying in labs and sometimes in lectures if you ask a question hes already gone over, but for the most part hes nice. he makes the tests as easy as he can to take but you should still try and study to pass the class, all in all id say take him.

Professor Grunfeld is very sweet and really knows his stuff. I would HIGHLY recommend taking this class before CHE 1510. I use all my notes from this class. You get a great foundation in chemistry. *TAKE HIM!!!* Mr. Grunfield is such a gem. Going into this class, I was extremely nervous because I had not taken a Chemistry class since high school. I loved it and actually understood what I was learning. The SI Hilda also made things so much easier (loved her!). Come to class, listen, take notes, and ask questions and you will pass with an A!

One of the best professors I have ever had, lab is mantadory with a quiz a the end of each, which has clear questions. Total or 10 labs and 6 tests one lab and one test is dropped, your worst one. Goes over material until you get it. Lab is short, lecture is short. Show up to this class, pay attention and you pass.

I really enjoyed taking his class because of his clear grading criteria. You get lab quizzes and separate lecture exams. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before you take the exam. He is one of the most amazing teachers Ive ever had at Occ. He knows his material. Wants his students to learn and be successful. Study his notes and his exams are multiple choices only one exam written. 6 exams but you can drop the lowest exam. There is quiz every week, but he goes over whats in quiz exactly. Im so glade I took the class.

Saul Grunfeld is a wonderful instructor, his SI Hilda is helpful but sometimes confusing. CHE1000 is essentially "chemistry for dummies" if you have taken any other science class. After taking BIO1530 I doubt I truly needed CHE1000 before 1500.

Prof. Grunfeld at first is hard to understand, he kind of talks like a baby, but once you get used to it he really knows what he is talking about. He has an SI always with Hilda and she is soooooo helpful. The lab is mandatory with a test after, but if you took a chem class with a lab in high school honestly it is the same thing. 100% recommend!!!!

This is one of the easiest teachers at OCC. you have weekly lab quizzes that he gives the answers for, so you just have to study those. When it comes to testing, he drops one and he literally tells you what is on the test, as you guys are taking notes. I recommend everyone going to the Si Hilda, she helps a lot.

Mr. Grunfeld cares about the success of his students, especially the one's who make it clear that they are trying to learn and to succeed themselves. He is willing to help outside of class, and tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. If you feel he hasn't been clear enough on what will be on the test, just ask him and he will tell you.

Professor Grunfeld is the only professor I have met that has cared sincerely about his students succeeding. He demands respect from his students and he deserves it. OKAY, SO ALOT OF STUDENTS DON'T LIKE HIM DUE TO SUPERFICIAL THINGS. HE DOES HAVE A STRONG ACCENT AND IS OLDER, BUT HE IS A PHENOMENAL PROFESSOR. IF YOU TRY AT THE HW YOU GET 100/100. THE QUIZES FROM LABS ARE EASY AND THE TESTS CAN BE CHALLENGING BUT THE LAST EXAMS ARE A CAKE WALK. TAKE HIS CLASS. I AM A SCIENCE MAJOR AND I LOVED IT!!

Prof Grunfeld's teaching methods are unorthodox to say the least. But he will help you if you ask him questions. His lectures a quite confusing and all over the place. So I suggest teaching the material to yourself at home via youtube and online homework PDF sheets. Also attend Si Hilda's study sessions and pick a good partner for lab work

Grunfeld is a solid all around choice for Chem classes. I will say this is my second time taking Chem 1000 but primarily because the first Professor I had was very poor (Chodan at Highland Lakes). After basically flunking Chem 1000 for the first time, taking Grunfeld completely changed things for me. I passed with an A and I would take him again.

We had a 15 minute quiz during class time BUT he stated in the syllabus we HAVE to be in class time to take quizzes. And 90% of the class did NOT miss it. The prof. is doing his best to teach us, recording videos, explaining, answering questions, etc. DON'T come here to cry. This class is NOT hard and we all know it, don't be lazy. GET OVER IT.

Quizzes are actually easy, and he makes mistakes sometimes but corrects them. He notified about a test 2 days before but you should be studying and be prepared at all times. Especially if you're going to the medical field...I'm not even in this field and I got A's on all tests so far. Don't be lazy and blame professors. This is an intro class,cmon!

Easy class, do your work and study the lecture notes he posts. Also EXTREMELY lenient and nice. Sometimes he doesn't get back to your emails but if you send again he will respond. The tests are pretty easy and you will get a hundred on your homework if you complete it, and doing extra credit guided inquiries will move your grade an entire unit +/-

Professor Grunfeld assigned the perfect about of work per week. In this class you must complete ten quizzes, six exams, and complete sapling homework for each chapter. Professor Grunfeld was always there to answer questions and help you.

Professor Grunfeld deserves every positive remark regarding his teaching because its true. Hes very passionate, knowledgeable, and informative with chemistry. He is also understanding, so just have a zoom session in order to get caught up to speed on any material you dont understand. If you apply yourself, youll do well in his class. Take him.

I was nervous about taking Chemistry and I told professor Grunfeld and he said don't worry I am here to help. Once he said that I felt calm. He cares about his students. He wants you to succeed. Prof. Grunfeld is probably the only science professor that cares about his students. I have never taken a course with a teacher that listened to student feedback and was passionate about teaching and helping students learn the material. Chemistry can be a hard course, but Prof. Grunfeld makes it simple. 100% would take any course offered by him.

Very understanding about personal circumstances. Be attentive and try your hardest and he will recognize your efforts. The class I took was 12 weeks and was graded on 6 tests,10 labs, and about 3 chapters of homework online. There were 8 chapters of homework posted but he later made some extra credit and others not mandatory. Will not fail you.

Professor Grunfeld is a very kind, compassionate teacher. He truly cares about you and takes his time to make sure everyone understands the material. Goes slow and he is a fair grader and your grade is 100% on if you take some time to go through his lecture notes which are easy to understand. Would recommend him to anyone.

Professor Grunfeld is by far the best science professor I have taken throughout my college career. He makes sure the students are understanding the material before he moves on and gives in-depth explanation of his lecture notes. Follow his lecture notes and you'll do well on the exams. Makes lectures/labs enjoyable to go to. 10/10 would take again.

BEST PROFESSOR AT OAKLAND COMM!! This course was by far one of my most difficult courses taken, BUT he was a huge help ALWAYS. Listen to me, I cannot fathom how difficult this class was for me... so if I can pass so can you! UTILIZE HIS OFFICE HOURS. He truly cares for his students and is very kind hearted too! Wish I could take him again:(

Professor Grunfeld is an awesome teacher he really cares about the students, I was scared of failing his class but he assured me that I will pass. He gives credit for effort and even gives out extra credit seminars to help your grade. WILL NOT FAIL YOU, HE WILL PASS YOU.

He assures you that he will not fail you and he is here to help you. his lectures are very clear and easy to understand and doesn't require more hours of studying a week for his exams. Professor Grunfeld is incredibly helpful and makes the material easy to understand. His lectures are engaging, and he provides great support to ensure students succeed. Using unstuckstudy alongside the course materials has been a game-changer for my study prep. Definitely recommend this class!

He is a nice guy and wants you to pass the class, but he is old and makes mistakes in the lectures, doesnt answer any emails, some of his grading seems off and he is difficult to understand at times. He lectures but you will find it very difficult to do well in this class if you are not studying outside of class.

Professor Grunfeld is awesome. He does everything he can to get his students into the programs they want to get into. He is always available during office hours or after class, but I will say he doesn't reply to emails. I was freaking out about taking organic/biochem, but after a couple classes/labs with him I knew I'd be fine.

He is a bit hard to understand at first, but once you get used to it and listen he does know what he is talking about. He cares for his students. He doesn't really follow the syllabus. The textbook is not required and there is no homework. Study what he lectures, it's pretty similar to what is on the exams.

Prof Grunfeld is very sweet and is full of insightful stories. He makes class fun! He does not require a textbook. Study the notes passed out and pay attention to his examples. SI helped at the beginning of class also. Try to form study groups and review with each other.

Professor Grunfeld is a rare type of person and anyone who comes across him is blessed to have met him. Empathetic, caring and provides good feedback, you will have everything you need to do well. If you show interest, show up and do your best, he will believe in you. He genuinely wants to see his students successful.

Professor Grunfeld truly cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. All exams depict exactly what is covered in lecture and in his notes. Participate and ask questions.
