He's real sweet and explains everything perfectly. He's also cute with a cute little accent. Do the work, take notes, and don't be lazy and this class will be easy.
This guy is rude, not respectable & confusing. I went into the class eager to learn and motivated to study. on our third lab he got mad at me for reading ahead, he is unorganized and gets annoyed when he has to explain something to you more than once. HE READS OFF HIS SLIDES i could do that at home. sure he's cute but at what cost.
Your avg. chem class. He's a little rude but he's also no fully aware of it so it's not too bothersome. He'll help when he can but mainly it's your avg. chem class. And he's like really super cute, so that also helps a lot
this class is your basic chem class, the prof is also very basic. he makes small jokes here and there. he has a cute voice and even cuter face. he's pretty straight forward about everything. as long as you follow the criteria and the textbook you'll be fine. just try not to miss any class time.
This professor is great at giving examples of problems, and using real world scenarios to make chemistry relatable, fun, and understandable, even for students who may not have a background in science. He challenges students to use their critical thinking skills when solving problems, and apply that critical thinking to the lab environment.
Took Mr. Christian on a blind, because he didn't have any reviews when I started Spring 2017 semester. Couldn't be happier with him and his class, lectures are paced and explained really well, gives examples to help people understand, provides tutoring after class and good reviews for you to pass his test. He is comprehensive and caring. Total win.
Tests and quizzes are way too long for the time given and he will stop you even if half the class isnt done. Dont schedule classes right after this class in a 15 minute window because he goes over class time a lot and if you leave early you're missing out on test material. Labs are easy and one of the only things to hold your grade up.
Okay guys, LISTEN UP! Tests and quizzes are all open-ended questions. The reviews are not very helpful and the exams are HARD. The last exam he said was the easiest one, I studied, and seriously?! He finds a way of making the easiest things seem complicated and confusing. You do need the textbook because he gives homework every single class.
Nice guy, but not that great of a teacher, he teaches from sample problems that come straight from his PowerPoints and uses those problems on exams and quizzes, downside is that the hw has little to no problems like the1s tht he coverd in class. He is unorganized and forgets to cover material that he uses in the exams.
Prof. Christian is the only best professor of CHEM at SAC. Very responsive, great and caring. He wants his student to succeed.
He is helpful but can come across as rude although I don't think he realizes it. Jokes a lot sometimes goes to far, if you can't handle sarcastic people do not take his class, but he is a good teacher and I would take his class again
Currently taking his class, he's a decent professor could be better but he's good compared to others. He actually works problems on the board with the class gives good notes to go back to! He makes reviews for the exams and they're pretty fair. I didn't purchase the book and have a B . Study and don't miss class! He makes online hw that are useful
He's an okay professor but expects TOO much. He gives out no chances or any extra credit so do the best in the assignments given. On his test, he makes the simplest things more difficult. I don't recommend him especially if you work full time.
Professor Christians lectures are excellent. He doesnt read the PPTs at you, instead he provides many example problems in class. If you read the material before class, the lecture helps you make the connections and solidifies your understanding. If youre looking for an easy class this is not it and you should probably not be in nursing.
not a good professor. did not really use the book. goes based of ppt's.
He DOES NOT give extra credit I repeat NO EXTRA CREDIT. He himself said I like to keep as many points possible and he only offered TWO extra points on an exam for completing the survey? Hes a tough grader and when shown to other professors what we are learning we are going way too much into depth (more like advanced instead of intro).
Didn't like being in class after awhile. He has no patience. I get his sarcasm, but it gets annoying. Expects a little too much. Had to learn a lot outside of class to get stuff. Got a B, I'm thankful for that. Study hard, Chem spot & Khan Academy it up!
Solid professor. He clearly explains anything you might be confused about & he's pretty lenient on grading. However, he is kind of rude & frequently leaves during the lab so if you have a question you have to wait or go look for him. That being said, you have to speak up when you need help, and you have to actually work. Chemistry isn't an easy A.
Not a terrible teacher, gives lots of examples in lecture, but I've learned more on my own than what he's taught. Quizzes are way too long for the time given. Helpful when you ask questions.
You must be willing to spend a lot of your time reviewing lectures, reading the book and doing practice problems. He is a good professor. Extra credit is basically 5 extra points on each exam and probably 3 extra points on the final. He drops one quiz, one report, and one exam. There is no make up exam or quizzes. YOU MUST KNOW THE MATERIAL!
You have to be willing to make this class your priority he isn't the nicest professor and is very sarcastic. He doesn't really help you if you are struggling so you'll be using the chem spot a lot! You have to study, study, and do practice problems in the book. Exams can be pretty long and open ended questions. Good luck you'll need it!
Don't take him. He is super sarcastic and doesn't really care if people are passing or failing. His lectures are problems from the book on the board and his tests are brutal and open ended. The majority of the class failed the exams and by the end half the class dropped the class.
Hes not a good professor, I dont know if he doesnt care or just doesnt want to help. Hes no help. Will not really explain anything, kind of just throws the topics at you and expects you to grasp.
I took him in the summer. He's so sarcastic and really plays favorites. He was helpful for the first couple of weeks. After that, he was tired of us and we were tired of him. He graded small things & wasn't helpful in lab. Organic chemistry is a lot, and he expects you to know information already. Just read as much as you can & get through.
I wouldn't reccomend anyone to take him,RUN. He is not helpful, sits in lab on his phone. Puts homework and quizzes together. Not the best.
This dude is definitely not the professor you want. lol. You're better off reading the book than going to his lectures. his homework and quizzes are online, You'll NEED to do those in order to keep your grade afloat. His labs are really easy so those will help you pass. his exams are terrible, but study as much as possible from the book.
His class was the absolute worst. I've never had a teacher in which I learned absolutely nothing. His lectures did not help and his study guides didn't do anything. I understand that fact that we had to work for our grade, but when the whole class' average on every test is a failing grade, that should say something. Word of advice: don't take him!
He doesn't care if you get the material or not. Worst chemistry teacher i've ever had. He is horrible at explaining things and doesnt pay attention during labs. Makes horrible study guides and doesnt prepare you for any exam.
The class was fine. I got the credit I needed, but I had to work for it. Tests are mostly free response questions, so it's hard to check yourself. Homework, quizzes, and labs kept me afloat.
I was a little bit skeptical about taking Professor Christian but after a semester with him I know that he is a good teacher and makes a good effort to help students learn. You just need to meet him half way and hell do the same for you. If you dont, I truly believe your view of him wont be as great as it should.
He definitely plays favorites and if you're not one of them he'll dismiss you and even be rude to you. All the homework and quizzes are on the McGraw-Hill Connect and each homework is about 24 questions but it takes at least an hour to complete. He changes the due dates around so casually like it will not take a good chunck of your day to complete
This is a class you have to stay on top of with Professor Christian. if you miss a lecture, you'll fall behind quickly, especially after chapter 3. TAKE NOTES! he gives plenty of examples so you can pass your homework and quizzes. Exams are pretty difficult. Labs are shorter than expected and he lets you work in pairs.
THIS IS A WARNING. *** DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH PROFESSOR CHRISTIAN*** you will end up learning everything on your own.
Chemistry is hard but he makes it harder. He stands around during labs and scorns you if you mess up or not doing it fast enough. His lectures are based on the McGraw-Hill slides and are not helpful. His study guides for tests are not helpful and he writes his own tests. The highest grade in our final was 82 and the average was 53.
As someone whos taken chem twice, Ive learned every chem teacher will teach the same. Unfortunately it depends on who is the LEAST worse and who is the BEST worse. Professor Christian was decent. Although he uses the same HW every semester and gives you labs that you havent been prepped for YET, so its challenging. The test are hard written too
Professor Christian loves chemistry and you can tell that he is incredibly knowledgable. However, his class is HARD. A lot of my classmates struggled and we all had many sleepless nights. Take only two other classes while taking his class because he assigns lots of homework. READ THE BOOK! The exams are brutal and you HAVE to study or else you fail
WORST TEACHER TO TAKE EVER!TOOK IT MAYMESTER & STUDIED ALL DAY LONG. I DID H/W JUST TO FAIL AT QUIZ'S. I WAS EXPECTED TO DO THIS EVERYDAY H/W, MODULES, QUIZS, & READ FROM BOOK. I REALLY WISH HE WOULD HONESTLY PUT HIMSELF BACK IN COLLEGE AND TAKE HIS CLASS SO HE CAN SEE HOW AWFUL HE IS AT BEIN REALISTIC. IM AN A STUDENT WITH A HIGH GPA BTW.
He is very smart and diligent at teaching. Is Chem 1411 hard? Yes. Does Professor Christian explain the material very well? Yes. Most of these negative comments/reviews are from folks who didnt bother to study outside of class. If you arent willing to study after hours then dont take ANY science courses. Reality check...
Professor Christian can be intimidating and impatient. The tests were not too bad, but the online labs were horrible. I didn't use the book and maybe that could have helped. Lectures are hard to follow and overwhelming at times. There's a good amount of homework and this helps cushion your grade. He doesn't like to repeat himself.
Unpopular opinion: he is REALLY helpful. Sac has LOTs of good chem profs who are unordinarily easy to approach. He's as good as them at teaching but not as easy for approaching because of his NY city attitude AT FIRST. After tho, he is so chill. He'll even let u make fun of him, but dont be surprised if he jokes back. Key to himopen mindedness
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! It feels like I am teaching myself for a class I paid for. The test review he gave us did not answer keys up until exam 3, which only happened because a student asked him to. As a result, doing the review was useless because I had no way of knowing if I had answered the question right. There are so many more but it cant fit.
I took this professor 2 semesters ago & boy do I wish I took a diff gen chem 1 prof for a solid foundation :/. His attitude was my main problem, he made negative comments often and would make you feel dumb sometimes. Reviews weren't helpful. Teaching style not terrible, didn't like to repeat. STUDY! Thou, I didn't receive an A, I think it's doable.
No exam curves. Exams are hard and on 4 chapters. Need to read the book. Attend lectures.
I would not recommend this teacher. I have a 3.8 GPA and I failed his exams! His assignments have nothing to do with his exams and even his notes don't reflect the material on the exams. I know this class is hard but he doesn't explain very well. After speaking to the class the average grade is a C which to me is a reflection on the teacher!
This professor was largely absent where my online statistics professor sent us regular updates and encouragement and responded to us as soon as he could. Prof Christian was the opposite. And his exam reviews weren't helpful either. They would not cover the same materials as his exams. Just avoid his online class like it was a new strain of COVID.
Professor Christian is clearly a nice guy, but his lectures were often rushed and felt incomplete. Several chapters had whole sections cut just because we were running behind, labs were frequently being performed before we had learned the requisite lecture material, and we were unable to have a real final review because of how behind we were.
Super unhelpful with technology issues, lack of communication, and unhelpful to students when answering questions. Tries to be humorous but just ends up downright rude. Sarcasm comes off as condescending.
I really enjoyed his class. It was a hybrid course so we had to review the material/online lectures our selves then we would attend the lab. He spent an hour or more before we went to the lab going over text material or any questions we had. He also went over what would be on exams and had study guides. He was always prompt and kind.
One of the worst professors Ive ever had, he goes over the exams but taking the exam has nothing to do with his reviews. Is the worst at explaining material, had classmates question his lecture and he wont clarify his answer just avoids it by trying a different question. If I could have taken a different professor I definitely would.
This was a tough class. A lot of reading involved. If you don't have time to read and take notes from the textbook, you will likely not pass. Luckily, I have notes for sale on Stuvia, Studypool, and Documerit. All at reasonable prices. These will cover all the needed materials for the all the textbook chapters.
He was okay. He can be sarcastic and condescending. He is not very approachable and a bit intimidating to ask questions to. Although he has a rugged personality I can honestly say he is a good teacher. I didn't think I would ever be able to understand Chem but I learned a lot. So if you want to learn Chem, he will ensure you know the material.
I don't think he enjoys teaching or likes his students. The material is dry. I was nervous about Chemistry because it can be hard, but he did a good job of explaining the material. If you put in the effort to understand chem and you want to learn, he will make sure you know the material.Sarcastic and tries to be funny. laughs at his own jokes often
Chem is tough but if you, do the homework, read the chapter, and listen to his LONG lectures filled with sarcasm and terrible jokes you'll probably do alright. Is it torturous - borderline but will you come out of his class a little smarter- most likely.
TAKE HIM!!!His pace is amazing and he is understanding about extensions if you are having any issues like with internet. He will put in the time to help you understand it, and he won't move on if you are struggling. He assigns homework once a week, and 2 quizzes around every other week and has great exam prep reviews.Very organized. TAKE HIM!!
Professor Christian is very good at explaining the material, and he lets you ask questions during class. If you need more help, he's always willing to meet in office hours. The workload is very minimal, and you have multiple opportunities to get full credit. The lectures are the easiest way to learn the material, just be engaged and you cant fail.
He is very impatient if you need help understanding new material. He makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. I had him a few semesters ago and will never retake him. I read a previous review where someone mentioned he plays favorites, and I can attest to that. I would NOT recommend him to someone who has trouble learning chemistry/ science.
After a failed attempt as a trained organic chemist, he resorted to teaching. He tries to be funny, but he is not. Stand-up is not in his near future. I would tell him to stick to his day job, but he is also terrible at it. Not available outside of class.
I agree with whoever wrote on here that he plays favorites. He acts like everyone is beneath him and is very condescending. His behavior towards his students is degrading. If Saumil is your only choice for a professor, wait a semester. Eventually, SAC will catch on, realize how terrible he is, and fire him.
BRUTAL! JUST ALL AROUND A NEGATIVE GUY WHO DOESNT LIKE STUDENTS
Not easy to get in contact with him outside of class. Although many of my classmates said he responded to their emails so he must have just been ignoring mine... needs a new career. If he likes you maybe class will be manageable but if he doesn't choose you as a favorite he will go out of his way to make you miserable.
Unpopular opinion, but this teacher was great. He explained the material well. Of course, you will have to work outside of class, but that should be common knowledge. I had to leave lab early one day, and instead of giving me a zero, he said he would give partial credit. Intimidating, a bit unapproachable, but, overall, a nice guy.
He does not care about his job or students, but you will learn Chemistry, and that's all that matters. He IS A GOOD TEACHER, however, he is not approachable, friendly, caring, or kind. He can be intimidating and will often laugh at his students to belittle them. Don't make eye contact, just try to cruise through the course and make it out alive.
He will laugh at you and make you feel stupid if you have questions or need help understanding the material. The silver lining is that he is a good and thorough teacher, so you won't have many questions. If you do, swallow your pride and let him degrade you. Ask your question, and then move on with your day.
You will come out of his class more competent and prepared for your career, so find a way to get through the torturous material. Chemistry can be dry, but you will learn tons in his class. I wouldn't say he is mean, definitely not outgoingly nice. So ignore his authoritarian sarcastic personality. Pay attention, and you'll learn chemistry.
He was a great teacher! Easy to talk to if you needed help and he always gave the help. He does anything in his power to try to help you pass the class. He gives curves on all his exams. All you have to do is participate and try and you will pass the class.
HE IS AN AMAZING Professor. He was fair, friendly, funny, made class fun, and gave clear lectures ( even with accent). He drops your lowest lab, quiz, homework, and averages the lowest exam grade with the highest and lowest exams. The only thing is the final is 20% of your grade so work really hard to maintain your grade.
He is not always the nicest or even very approachable, but he is a good professor. not friendly but explains the material well. His exams are tough and weighted heavily. His posted exam review guides do not help with the actual exam. Listen to his lectures and re the chapter a couple times and you will do alright.
Prof Christian is on my list as one of my favorites. He is very intelligent and tries hard during the lecture to make sure you understand chemistry. Attendance is key. I missed only 1 day out of the entire semester and I missed a lot. If you put forth your best effort, he will ensure you pass. He has exam reviews and it helps to pass your exams.
His tests are hard, and the exam reviews do not help. I learned a lot of chemistry and if you show up and pay attention it will be hard to fail his class. He is not always nice or approachable but he is good at his job. You may need to find a tutor the material is tough. Do NOT ask him too many questions in class he will get mad. Overall he is ok.
By no means is this class a breeze. It is challenging and you will have to study and read a lot outside of the class. He explains all assignments and tasks in GREAT DETAIL there is no way to mess up. Listen to his lectures and participate in labs and you will do find. He gets annoyed easily so do not ask stupid questions. I would take him again.
He is not friendly, has a short temper, and will talk down to you if you ask questions/do not understand the material. He may even laugh at you. But he is a GREAT professor. He explains everything well and tries to make it applicable to all aspects of life. I WILL take him again. Be quiet, don't talk in his class, just listen, and you will succeed.
If you are planning to major in Chemistry or want to go into a similar field, I suggest that you take Prof Christian. He is very smart and well-versed in his field. He explains the material well to all students, beginners or advanced. Be sure to not make him mad, he will make you feel stupid. listen to his lectures and take in all the information
Sarcastic to his students. He knows he is the smartest person in the room and can sometimes make you feel little. You will LEARN SO MUCH in his class. Don't, pass up the opportunity to thoroughly understand a hard subject like chem because you may be scared of him from previous comments. You will leave VERY prepared for the next level of chem.
Condescending and rude to students. Just all-around mean. Has favorite students. An authoritative strict personality does not have patience when students ask questions. He wants us all to sit silently, be obedient, and listen. Don't try to have fun or enjoy chem; he doesn't allow it.
Tests are weighted heavily. This professor is a bit impatient with students, but he is not as bad as everyone makes him seem. Scowls and scorns at class during labs. He has a tough personality but I will take him for the next section because I will receive a good education, and I value that more then caring about if a professor is nice or not.
All around a rude guy. I have him for a online summer class and he is terrible. Rude, impatient and lazy
Nice professor
I saw his ratings and immediately started to freak out. But really there was no need to. This is a tough class, its a tough subject. Apply yourself, read the chapters, if you have questions ask him, go to his office. He WILL help you, you just need to ask. He is passionate about chemistry, he wants us to understand it and like it too.
Overall a good professor. A bit tough but will help if you ask.
BULLY
Hard to understand. I don't think he cares if his students succeed. I cried twice in gen chem because of him. He plays favorites. Don't plan to pass his class unless you teach yourself.
An excellent professor responds quickly to emails and questions. Tests are weighted heavily, but he gives helpful study guides. He's a little hard to approach and a bit intense, but mostly just nice once you get to know him. Explains material thoroughly.
He is an awesome and intelligent professor, and anyone who disagrees is just a lazy student. He is always there to answer any questions and will break things down to your understanding--for students actually there to learn. If you see this Professor, thank you for teaching me.
He does not grade labs fairly. Probably wrote his own good reviews on here. Rude and snappy towards students. He should consider other jobs.
I took him last semester and did just okay (c grade)I decided to retake him this semester and had to drop this semester because of how terrible of a prof he was. He is mean to students and is belittling. Taking chem with him is not worth the strain on your mental health. Will therapy afterwards.
He made me cry twice, and to top it off I left the class more stupid then before I hade taken it.
All around good professor. He has a genuine passion for teaching. The topics may not be easy to grasp quickly during lecture, but you MUST complete the homework AND do practice problems. If you fail, it is because you did not put in the effort. Also, I loved his jokes. I will be taking more classes with him for sure.
He does not care if students pass or fail, does not offer help, and is not available. He enjoys embarrassing his students and making them feel less than him. I left his class okay, but I laid low and tried not to talk to him, ask questions or make eye contact. If you try to talk to him or ask questions he will laugh at you and mock you.
He easily got annoyed when I asked questions during lab. I did not find him as mean as previous students said he was... but not friendly either. He is somewhat miserable. People told me to avoid him, but I had no other choice but to take him, and honestly, it was okay. He explained the material VERY well. Good teacher, but just hates students lol.
He is okay. He spends most of his time during labs on his phone and not helping students. Often engaged on his phone during regular class times as well. I would not say he is particularly nice, not as terrible as what the other students said. SARCASTIC. He gets annoyed with students easily. Finds it funny to be mean to students.
He did not like me and often would pick on me in front of the class and make an example of me. I think it's because I did not understand chemistry well. It was obvious he didn't care for me and enjoyed bullying me. However, I stopped asking questions, got a tutor, and managed to survive his class. He did explain the material well. Just not nice.
You can tell that he likes to be mean and pick on people. He finds it fun to tease students. GREAT at teaching. weigh the pros and cons before you take his class. Consider that you will leave his class with more knowledge of chemistry but also might get bullied
He does not like students who are on the spectrum or have learning disabilities. Can come across snarky at times.
LAZY
A little sarcastic, and cocky but not as monstrous as people make him out to be.
I am currently taking. He is very knowledgeable but likes to challenge his students. Not overly nice or approachable but not awful either.
He was not the best professor, not very approachable or polite, and sometimes rude, but he was not terrible either. He teased students, sometimes jokingly, sometimes not. He understands if you have a personal problem or need an extension on homework. He replies to emails quickly. He is good at teaching material in a way students can understand.
Short tempered. Mean
He is one of the best professors I've taken at SAC. He is very knowledgeable of the class materials and actually made me understand every topic. He is very responsive with emails and attentive. Can come off as intimidating but is actually quite nice once you get to know him. Get ready to read and practice the material everyday by no means is easy.
He is often on his phone and preoccupied during labs and sometimes in class as well. He has a tough personality, always looks mad, and is not easily approachable. He most likely does not want to be a community college chem professor dealing with students. He is very smart and will make sure to apply the material to real-world examples.
Teaches the concepts well, although I feel he would be better teaching advanced chem students. At times, he can become impatient with intro-beginner students who need help understanding as quickly. He goes over how to do the lab VERY well in class before the actual lab, there is no way to mess up. You can tell he to teach so everyone understands.
I am more than halfway through the semester, and this is what I know is true of Prof. Christian. He is a bit uptight and tough, a bit scary, sometimes a Grinch, but mostly a good person. I truly believe that he wants his students to have a better understanding of chemistry. He wants us to learn the material and not just pass the class.
He is bitter and always seems to be mad about something. He is not personable or easy to approach but, no matter how annoyed he is with his students he will go out of his way to help them with assignments, and explain the material in different ways until they understand better. Answers emails quickly.
Farts loudly in class. It's distracting... which is a shame because his lectures are informative and interesting, but it can be hard to focus because of the smell. Nice guy and helpful. He is respected on campus. He is understanding about technical issues when it comes to completing homework.
Super chill guy, his lectures are interesting and he can be funny at times. You really have to put your work in though. He will go over your lab work during lab so you can actually get 100% each time. He comes off standoffish but he is nice and just wants his students to understand and learn.
He is a little bit stuck up and can be condescending towards students. If you ask for help, he WILL help you; not all chem professors at SAC will help their students understand the material. Not a bad guy just a big EGO. He will probably poke fun at you, but it's not too terrible. Overall he's okay.
He acts like he is better than everyone; you can tell he hates his job. However, he is decent at it and explains the material well to students even though he dislikes most of it. He picks on students often, but he shouldn't because he's weird and smelly, so he shouldn't throw stones. I give him a solid C+ as a teacher.
He claims to be a "trained organic chemist." I don't know, but he hates teaching; it's not his passion, and he has no patience for community college students. However, he makes his labs easy. They are impossible to fail. He teaches the content well. He'll crack a joke now and then, but it's usually towards you, so be ready. Not mean but not nice.
I don't know why this " organic chemist" that he claims to be would teach at community college... but he does so suck it up and bare through his class. He doesn't want to be there any more than you; make it through the material and move on. Indeed, he often farts loudly in class. He is old and grumpy...but wise, so deal with it and learn chemistry.
I didn't think he was as bad as everyone said... He wasn't outgoing or anything, but he wasn't terrible either... he just taught the class. I don't know why everyone is so intimidated by him ?
Talked to me and my peers as if we were incompetent, he also always rushed us in lab. He would make unnecessary remarks instead of helping. Never was to be found in our actual lab, he was always leaving the room to do who knows what. Didnt grade much until the week before school ended. Horrible experience.
He always left lab; you couldn't find him for questions. Sometimes he was gone for a few minutes to fart in the hallway. Other times, he would leave for 1/2 hr or more. He elbowed me because I accidentally stood too close to him when I asked him a question in the lab. For his sake, I hope he learns to be more kind; life is much better that way.
Community College students (not all, but most) typically choose that path because traditional learning/universities challenge them. Learning for his students is on a different level than that of university kids, so I wish he wouldn't have made us feel so stupid, laughed at us, and mocked us when we didn't understand.
SNARKY, MEAN and BELITTLING. He laughed at me for asking questions. I got embarrassed. I felt like I couldn't even ask questions in his class anymore, so I stopped speaking up in his class. Teaching is not his expertise; if you can avoid his class per your schedule, that would be the best choice. Find someone who cares about their students success.
He bullied my lab partner; I tried to lie low, avoid eye contact, and avoid asking questions in his class, which is a shame because we paid to be there, and the professors could at least be polite to the students. SAC is GREAT! The Chemistry professors ( all of them) are AWFUL! For chemistry, go to Northwest Vista or St. Phillips.
SAC allows you to give feedback to the professor towards the end of the semester; I was scared because I didn't want him to figure out what review was mine and treat me differently. I wish I could tell the college how terrible he was after the semester ended, that way, I could be honest and not feel retaliation from him.
WOW! I didn't think he was a bully, but he was definitely not a happy or pleasant person. I, too, did not do the Canvas student survey about the teacher because it had to be submitted before the class was over. Just pray and give it to GOD, and you'll get through the semester.
Do not take Prof. Christian, even if you have to go to another college or wait a semester; it is not worth the strain on your mental and emotional health. A low life who is jealous of happy people. Do yourself a favor and sign up for someone else. If there are nice comments about him on here, he wrote them himself or paid someone to write them.
Not a great prof, not bad either. I reminded myself throughout the semester that he was probably just bullying because he was bullied, but still, it was too much. Unlike in previous comments, I would not say he is despicable, but he could try to be cordial and approachable towards students. Confirming his flatulence problems from previous comments.
He is not great at his trade. He should go back to being a" trained organic chemist," He expects you to grasp concepts quickly or he gets frustrated. He will make fun of your weight and appearance, although he has no room to talk because he is no gem to look at either. I hope he realizes how sloppy and smelly he is so he stops commenting on others.
He gets MAD easily and often raises his voice at his students. He points and shakes his finger in your face as if he is scolding you. He started yelling at me for not understanding a section on specific heat and enthalpy. I held back tears of embarrassment. I should've told him to go out in the hallway and fart about it. Get over yourself, sir.
Doesn't explain the material. He is usually on his phone during lab and class. Couldn't care less if you pass or fail. He is a non-enthusiastic, VERY UPTIGHT; at any minute, you feel as if he is going to explode with screams and farts. This class is like walking on eggshells. You never want to mess up, you don't know how he will react.
O Chem is tough but it is a very interesting class, I always enjoy chem. The worst part of the class is Saumil Christian but he is SAC's only OChem professor. I pray to GOD that he doesn't have children or family that have to put up with him daily. No one deserves a person like Saumil Christian in their lives. Learn patience and acceptance prof!
Unfortunately most of these reviews are accurate. Save yourself now and choose someone else. avoid the need for therapy.
Lord I pray for Saumil. I pray that you heal his heart, so he will not continue to bully, be rude, or tease his students. I pray that he finds patience for students with special needs and learning disabilities. May he find kindness, compassion, and Jesus. Guide him to treat others with respect, and understanding. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Saumil Christian will read from a pre-made PowerPoint, but other than that, he doesn't know how to teach. He is entitled and arrogant. Many students have tried to get him fired due to his constant bullying tactics, but SAC won't listen. Save yourself and find another professor.
If this is the only option you will be teaching yourself, get ready and be prepared. If you have him next fall, start looking now for a private tutor. He does not like his students. He is always on his phone and does not pay attention to students. Most likely he is the DEVIL.
Now that the semester is over and I have had a chance to go to therapy, I can give an honest review. I didn't mind his class. Honestly, I thought he was okay, but that's because I understood the topics easily. I would not have wanted to be my lab partner, who struggled with chem because he was very impatient with him and became frustrated quickly.
He was literally texting on his phone while attempting to give us the lecture. He would say, "Excuse me for one moment." step out in the hallway, FART as loud as can be. We thought he crapped his pants. Most likely disrupted other classes and potentially the whole building. Came back in and expected us to be able to focus...Please fire him.
I tried convincing a friend to take his class because I had a good experience with him. I thought he only would have good reviews on here. DANG! Y'all hate him. Yes, he is stuck up; it comes off as arrogant. He is UPTIGHT but honestly, I thought he was a great teacher. I never got bullied; maybe he just joked towards me, but what's the big deal?
Saumil doesn't know how to teach chemistry. Not only does he not know how to teach chemistry, but he doesn't know anything about chemistry in general. He is not a chemist or professor. He barely does anything except be on his phone during class and will often leave. To top it off, he is cruel to students and enjoys inflicting pain.
This was an online class, so one would assume the professor would at least answer his email....but he didn't, so that was fun to deal with all semester. I understand it was an online class, but still, most professors post video lectures or something; this was one big free-for-all. Save yourself the headache and avoid Saumil Christian.
Things prospective students of Saumil should do -Find new Professor - Mentally prepare -Buy lysol to spray in his class Things Saumil should do to be better at his job -SHOWER -Teach chemistry -Get a boyfriend or get laid so he is not so uptight -Be kind and understanding -Chill out -Pray Jesus forgives him for how cruel he is to students
bruh, get a different job.
Saumil Christian was not a good professor. He would often leave a class unattended for long periods of time without instruction. Especially during lab. He calls his students names. This is ironic considering he is no gem to look at either, so I am unsure why he feels so entitled to be so cruel about others' experiences.
After having him for 1405, I felt it would be best to attend a different college for OChem. For the most part, I agree with the other reviews on here. I can attest that he was rude and would sometimes say things that were hurtful to students. Sarcasm comes so naturally that I am not even sure he knew how mean his words were.
I personally felt that he could have explained the material better. I also found that he was somewhat immature. It was hard to be in the classroom with a 50-something-year-old professor who found it funny to pick at students. Nevertheless, it was only a 16-week class, so it wasn't the end of the world; it was hard to endure, though.
He wasn't as bad as everyone makes it seem. He made jokes a lot and they were actually pretty funny. The labs weren't bad either. He just won't hold your hand during lab because he gives the material needed to be prepared. He is approachable and will answer your questions to help you. The only hard part are the exams.
This professor's teaching style is lazy. He does not want to teach, and it shows. Man, we all don't like our jobs, but he could act a little more enthused to be there since we have paid to take his class. He spends most of the class on his phone; the same goes for the lab.
He needs to explain the material better, he reads from PowerPoint presentations. You will need a tutor to reteach everything he attempted to teach you in class. Not from my personal experience, but seeing another student live through it, he can be relentless and pick at you until you feel ashamed. He will call students names. He is very entitled.
Honestly, I didn't think he was a lousy teacher. I thought he was decent at explaining the material. Does he enjoy teaching or likes students? No, but just go there to learn, and it will be okay. He was smelly, and he did find it amusing to be belittling and demeaning towards students. If you stay out of his way and do the work, it will be fine.
The professor did not teach the class well. He read from PowerPoint and did not give applicable examples. He was often on his phone in class and left many times during lectures. We would just sit in the class and wonder where the professor went. The little time he was in class, he was rude. He has a stand-offish personality. He needs some humility
He did not teach in a practical way. He got easily frustrated while teaching the math portions of chemistry. He laughed at and mocked students. He left the lab MANY times for lengthy periods, and we all had questions. When we did ask questions, he replied snippily and was mad that you spoke to him.
He didn't teach. He barely knew what material he was supposed to lecture about. I don't even think he knew what section of the class he was in. Actually, this was mostly self-taught. When he lectured, none of what he spoke about was on exams, which are weighted heavily. He left the lab a lot and would leave us unattended, not knowing what to do.
The professor does not teach. He will yell some irrelevant information at you that you do not know how to apply to the tests or lab. If you do end up with that evil devil as your professor, do not speak up or ask questions, he will mock you and call you names. This class is self-taught for the most part.
His lectures were long and not beneficial. His exam reviews were not beneficial. He is terrible at teaching. He is terrible at being a decent human being. He smells terrible. He looks terrible. He goes out of his way to make class terrible for his students. Save yourself the trauma get a different teacher.
I didn't see any "bullying" from him. Despite what people are saying, he was decent at explaining things. Overall he was pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in teaching us. The labs are tedious but doable if you come prepared (he requires handwritten reports which is annoying). Beware of poor timing if you take the 8-week summer session.
He was an okay teacher- nothing spectacular. He could be mean and arrogant at times. It was obvious he did not care for students. He was relentless. He didn't like when students talked to him so google your questions. Get a good lab partner and form a study group with classmates and you will do fine.
He is an uptight, controlling, authoritarian micromanager who tyrannizes students. He is widely disliked on campus among students and other faculty.
He is not good at teaching and atrocious towards students.
This teacher was not great at explaining the material, and with the semester about to start take this as a sign to find another professor. Someone who won't mock you.
We had to transcribe all the printed lab notes/instructions to a lab book and basically treat it as if you're writing a paper in English class. There were so many pages of instructions, my fingers hurt. There wasn't any practice problems you could learn from. During the lab he was gone most of the class, and we he was there he didn't check on you.
The professor has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it can work well. Use study tools like Unstuck AI, the free textbook, and attend study sessions to succeed. Overall, the class is manageable if you put in the effort.
He is a tough grader and a rude person. Avoid
He may receive a bad review due to the difficulty of the subject. He offers 2-3 attempts on online homework, reviews tests beforehand, and is lenient on lab grades. He's understanding of life situations, responds quickly, and adjusts to the class pace. Read the chapter beforehand and visit office hours for extra practice.
Amazing, fun instructor! He is so knowledgable & his lectures reflect that. He makes learning a difficult subject easier. He is the most accessible professor I have ever had! He has long office hours & will go over HW & topics you need help with. Labs are long, but fun. Lab write up is LONG, don't wait until the day before lab! Wish he taught 2425.
if you have adhd like me don't take this course, you'll get lost real quick, he doesn't really care about helping the students, his lectures don't make any sense, and he can't teach a class properly, won't even let you take retakes on exam because his reason is "it's not fair for other people"
A genius and a Christian. He knows his material well. Class can be hard for students who have not spent time learning and wasted time on social media. You have to do the work. He Makes sure that student s that are lazy and not interested in learning do not become doctors. It is men like this that will make America great again. Probably an angel.
He gives a lot of homework. Turn it in on time and you will do good
He was just okay. Not overly nice or approachable but not as bad as everyone makes him out to be . He does come off a bit snobbish and rude but once you get to know him he's alright. The material is tough he tries his best at explaining it but sometimes he isn't clear or thorough, he just okay at teaching nothing special
He wasn't my favorite professor he wasn't my least favorite either. The subject can be hard but with focus, self discipline to study often and determination you'll pass and do fine. I thought he explained the labs well.
OMG! He is the worst professor ever. I hated it his class. A lot of homework, heavy on the exam, I would never recommend to anyone.
This class will be easy if you do what he says. At the very start he explains how he grades and what percent the homework, exams, and labs will be worth. If you talk with him he will extend homework dates but not exams. Do things on time and you will pass this class with a good grade.
Took for a flex Chem 1105, SUPER easy just make sure you show up to the labs because attendance is mandatory and there are very few opportunities to make up for a missed lab. He was 10-45 minutes late to the lecture portion of class every week and would constantly be on his phone in the hallway during the lab portion, otherwise would take again.
