She is a great teacher, explains what she wants very well. For a summer class not too much work, many ways to earn extra credit!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Dr. Collins is extraordinary as a professor, dept. chair, friend and person. She CARES about people, loves what she does, and it shows. YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO KNOW HER EVEN IF YOU DON'T TAKE HER CLASSES.

Sweet teacher. Definately enjoys teaching and it shows. I have a class @ 8:30 am and she wakes me up. Tests are slightly hard but so far, they are all open book.. We are a lucky class!

Really comical person, great attitude and cares for teaching. Really kind person who explains the subject material very well and thorough. One project, four tests with lowest grade being dropped. Tests were open book. Went to only eight classes got an A.

Dr. Collins is awesome - nothing I did for 2 years at MSU tops the privelege of knowing her, and having her as a friend and mentor. She's tough, but she's fair...and while some say otherwise, there's always 2 sides to every story. Seek her out!!!

Dr. Collins speaks the truth about what blacks have been through. Many people are intimidated by that truth. Deal with it. Every thing she is teaching in class has been stated by well known figures with actual written proof. So YES you can take this material out and share it cause it is the TRUTH.

Accurate and interesting info combined with her comical stories. Some people get upset when she states facts that have already been proven by BLACK and WHITE scientists and historians. Fun class just have to stay on top of the material

If she is wrong then why did you spell HISTORY without a T? I am not black and I haven't received a bad vibe from Dr. Collins at all. Don't be mad if she is not another lazy professor that gives away A's. Some people are just surprised to hear that Africa was not always a destitue 3rd world country.

Hands down this is the realest Black professor that you will ever meet. No doubt-The workload is rough but I managed an A,keep on top of things you can 2. She doesn't take late papers,attendance is a must, class participation req.Tests mult.choice. She even got a black panther to speak-lady's 4real

If u prove u know your stuff, u will be rewarded. Our class got an open book test Y'all!!! so do your work and u will be alright.

Interesting course. 4 fifty questions tests and a lengthy paper are required. Sometimes cancels class or sends aide to play a video. profssor and student aide are cool and informative.

Very interesting, and she is so in depth in her way of teaching. Lots of extra credit through out the semester that you can do to help your grade. Her work isn't hard at all you just have to show up for class and show her you are interested in what she is saying.

I took Prof. Collins for 2 courses and they were both great and I got a solid A in both .She is very intelligent, high energy and NO push-over. Her in-your-face teaching style was excellent. She always kept my interest and if she catches you sleeping the ENTIRE class will know..lol (Effort=GRADE)

Dr. Collins is so awesome, she teaches with such passion for the subject and i recomment taking her if you want to know the real truth about the history of African-Americans.Do your work and start on the critical thinking project on time. she givees class points and extra credit, do all of them. Ask questions and always come to class. Also study!

Dr Collins is a good prof. take her class b/c she is exciting. I was out of school for 15 yrs and she got me going very good. You can learn a lot with her shared knowledge and she nice. She is not one of the prof. looking to see how they can ruin your day.....her best interest is educating the students. Blessing

dr. collins is a great prof. she is willin to help as long as u are willin to help urself. she keeps u interested and the class is exciting. u cant falls asleep in this class and i wouldnt advise you do that either. watch out for the hot seat bc if she see u any where she will get u. on campus or in the supermarket.

I cant even begin to explain how much this woman taught me. She opened my eyes to so many things that I never knew about. The test are easy. The critical thinking project is the toughtest thing but she gives it to you a month or more in advance so start early. I finished the class with an A-. Take her you'll learn a lot and get an A.

The class was easy...and Dr Collins is really nice and interesting to listen to. My only complaint is that she seems to be open-minded on only what she wants to be. Say something that she doesn't agree with and she'll chew you up and spit you out.

Dr. Collins replaced my professor mid semester so the class was not set up the way she would have liked it to be, which is not her fault. She did a good job stepping in and made it easy for everybody to get good grades.

Great professor watch out for the hot seat she will catch you in class or around campus ex. Student Center and ask you questions for points so make sure you read and know material just in case I got an A so stay focus and make your own study guide for each chapter and you'll do fine

I don't agree with any of these ratings. She made me want to pay attention. She was funny and she taught with a lot of enthusiasm also gave good notes for tests. Be prepared in class know at least some of the things that she went over in case she asks you a question. Great teacher I would totally recommend.

im taking her now and everyone told me that she was the hardest professor and expects a lot. however, i found out that she is a great professor and really knows her stuff and really gets the class interested in what is being taught. yes there is a lot of note taking and yes if you do not study you wont do too well on the test but this is college

Very interesting class, she's an engaging and entertaining professor. But most importantly she knows her stuff. You might not need the book if you catch on quick, there's a lot of EC one research paper and 4 tests throughout. You have to study but the class is enjoyable.

By far my favorite professor. Her tests are hard so do your reading. Don't take her classes if you're not serious about the subject, you won't do well and you'll be on here complaining about her teaching methods. I took this class IN THE SUMMER, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! She tries to be funny and open so the students can stay awake and interested. The tests were easy, but ONLY if you studied on a daily basis. She was very flexible with the grading (she didn't want us to fail a summer class). I understood everything she taught us and was very interested.

Dr. Collins is inspirational, fair, hardworking, and an overall amazing person and professor. If you want an easy A, stay away. She makes you WORK. And make sure you don't have a heavy or new schedule when taking Psych, it is a really interesting class but take the time to enjoy it and study.

GREAT PROFESSOR ! Its really up to you as the student to do your part. She DOES NOT ALLOW electronics in her class but she allows extra credit. Study guide and test correlate. Pay attention to the class and study guide and you shall pass. Also take notes, she doesn't take attendance but thats why its important to be in class to not miss notes.

dr. collins is one of the sweetest people i have ever met. genuinely cares for her students. makes a point of learning everyone's names. very strict, attendance is mandatory, and absolutely NO electronics in her classroom. has passion for what she does, and will help as long as you ask. not an easy A, but she makes you think. her class is worth it.

Professor Collins was a delight to have as my PSYC 101 class. You are not allowed any devices in class to take notes or anything along those lines. Professor Collins wants all her students to take hand written notes. I realized that attending her lectures was so interesting that I might consider to declare a minor in Psychology.

Dr. Collins provided a lot of good material, readings and videos, and extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. The grade is based on 4 exams but if you do the extra credit, read the textbook and pay attention to your notes then you won't have a problem with the class. She does speed up lectures so do a lot of reading on your own.

TAKE THIS CLASS. Honestly my favorite teacher. She is so funny. You don't need to buy the book. You take 4 quizzes which determine your overall grade. They are online. A lot of note-taking but it wasn't too bad. She doesn't take attendance but I loved her class so much I kept coming. She is a character. Never a dull class day!

She gives few quizzes per semester and gives plenty of extra credit to bring your grade up. There's no mandatory attendance and she's so caring and funny. Test were very hard but this professor was VERY lenient. Throughout the semester we only had 4 assignments (which were test). Once the entire class felt the first test she allowed us to take the 2nd & 3rd one at home with open notes, and the 4th test in class using our notes. I feel like she was more than fair

I did not have this professor in person, I took her for PCOM391 for my internship. She is pretty clear about the rules and expectations for the project and paper. I would reccomend taking her for PCOM instead of an in person class because she can come off as moody and uninterested. We had 1 in person meeting and examples to use as a guideline.

She is strict in the classroom, but not unbearably strict. She is also a very funny professor and there is absolutely NO WAY to fail in her class. Despite going at a fast pace with note-giving, she makes sure all her students get all the information they need to be prepared to take her quizzes/tests. You will learn and think a lot. I loved it!

This is the second time I have taken this professor and she remains amazing! Although she is *very* fast when showing notes for us to take, she give many extra credit opportunities. Some advice for anyone thinking about taking this class - if you feel like you're not doing too well, complete *all* of the extra credit. Lastly, you will learn a lot!!

I see so many white students talk about her being dismissive of white students but the truth is many of them are taking classes, which she teaches, that hits them with reality that being white is a massive social advantage and psychology itself had stem from racism in America. As a white student myself, I had no problems. Amazing professor.

She's great! She's old school in the sense where you have to use a notebook and no phones, but honestly some students need that. I don't get why some people complain. Only thing is, she moves fast in her lectures, so ask a classmate for notes you miss since they will definitely be in the quiz. Little to no homework, offers extra credit, DO IT!
