This professor does not follow the material covered in other sections. She does a lot of case studies but doesn't explain any of the material beforehand. She is hard to follow. My class was the first semester is has taught at ISU and we had EXTREMELY low test averages. If you have this professor I suggest you switch out of her section if possible.

she does everything in groups and uses way too many case studies. every couple words out of her mouth is "kay?" and can be extremely distracting. you do quizzes online for every chapter. can be rude toward students when participation does not occur. rethink taking this class with her unless this is the only time you can take it.

Worst teacher I've ever had. Tries to do group work in a class of 300+ and makes everyone bring a name tag. Her notes have no words on them, just pictures that she explains in class (little help later). Test scores average 50's, and she blames her students' learning styles. No control over class, everyone is always talking. I hate her.

Worst professor I have ever had. If you enjoy class averages around 50% she is the professor for you. Spends a lot of lecture time on case studies that she doesn't explain and treats the class like a high school class with her name tags. I would recommend looking for other professors as Kukday is horrible.

SHE IS AWFUL! Test averages are abysmal: studying or not for them never made a difference on the grade received (I believe I failed 3 of 5 tests and got D's on the other 2). I learned almost nothing, and what I did learn was from my tutor. On the bright side, she such an atrocious teacher that the class was curved to the point I ended with an A.

Worst professor I have ever had. Extremely boring to listen to. All of her notes are over case studies. 90% of her tests are over material not cover in class. A T.A. taught the class for a couple classes and he was 10 times better at teaching than she was. Does not know how to relate to students. I would rather die a virgin than retake her class.

She is very poor with communication outside of class. I had a terrible time with my proctor receiving the passwords for tests. The testing center recommended I discuss it with her. She made it seem like my fault even though I had confirmation emails to prove I registered my proctor. I received a 0 on the first test due to this problem.

She is horrible. She gives assigned seats in a 300+ lecture. She doesn't explain anything. The tests are horrible and there is no good way to study, she is also no help in pointing you in the correct direction. She blames the students for poor grades even though everyone is getting them. She is rude and unhelpful. She is a horrible lecturer.

Waste of time. The lectures were boring and didn't make any sense. Everything she talked about had little to no relevance to her exams.

She makes an introductory biology class much more difficult than it needs to be. She tries to have students do group work and group projects in a 300+ lecture class, vague about expectations for projects as well. Had to ASK her to put up example projects bc everyone was receiving poor grades on theirs bc she wasn't clear about what she expected.

Taking this class made me realize why so many people hate learning about science. She did not make learning fun or engaging at all. She taught the class as if we were all had a PHD in biochemistry like her. She needs to learn how to actually teach students, not just read off of a slide. I learned nothing from this class. 2 thumbs down.

I did not like this prof at all. Half of the questions in her exams are NOT in her powerpoint slides. It was hard to stay focus in class since most of the things she says is hard to understand as a student. I do read the textbook and look over her slides but her exams are still confusing to me.

Terrible professor! Should not be allowed to teach undergraduate students!! She doesn't know how to dumb things down for an introductory course and does an unnecessary huge group project that you can easily fail! DON'T take 212 with her if you can help it! I didnt learn a single thing in this class.

Huge group project worth almost 40% of entire grade. Attendance is mandatory (clicker questions). Homework at least once a week, but only for participation and easy to pass. Her lectures are boring, I could never understand what she was saying, tests have NOTHING to do with material. Not interesting. Only good thing was the 10-15% curve at the end.

Class is structured oddly, the groups you are assigned you have to sit with. As long as you go to lecture and get the participation points it should go okay. Make sure you do the Can You.. at the end of each power point since that is what you are tested on.

Her lectures are almost impossible to follow and she purposely writes the tests to confuse you, so you don't really learn, you just end up memorizing some of the random facts she says in lecture. She means well, but is not effective.

She's awful. Nothing in the lectures is covered in the tests, nor anything in the homework. Her study guides never cover anything in the test either, it's like you're expected to know it before you take the class. You try to talk to her and she puts you down. In a bad group for the group project worth most of the grade? Out of luck.

This was by far the most frustrating and difficult class I have taken. I knew Bio 212 would be hard but Professor Kukday exceeded my expectations. She doesn't make study guides for any of her tests. This leaves you with hundreds of lecture notes and txtbook pages to look over. Her tests are impossible and you leave lecture more confused than before

Honestly just a ridiculous way of grading. I have had difficult classes before, and never have I felt this baffled at how unfair and crazy hard the tests are. If you get this class, good luck!

Tests are nothing like learning objectives in lecture slides, reviews that are given are nothing like the tests. If you get this teacher I suggest getting out as soon as you can one of the worse professors Ive had in 3 years of college.

She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She makes us do a semester long project that has nothing to do with the course, she also makes us assigned spots for the lecture so that you're with your group the whole semester. Her tests are extremely hard and they cover things that have never been explained in lecture.

Dr. Kukday knows her stuff, but is unable to bring it down to a level students can understand. Her tests are VERY hard, but you have to chances at the same questions. There is a semester long group project that has nothing to do with the class. She is a very subjective and harsh grader. I will definitely not take a class with her again.

Dr. Kukday is a nice person but a terrible professor. She is not able to explain concepts, yet expects you to know in-depth information for each exam. The exams are full of knowledge application problems so you really need to know your stuff. Be sure to watch the CrashCourse videos she posts online. They were the only reason I did well on exams.

Test questions had nothing to do with the lectures in class. The only way to pass the class is to memorize the test questions because you get 2 attempts. There's a semester long group project that has nothing to do with the course but it really helped my grade. Don't take this class with her unless you have to.

She is a very nice person but a terrible professor. She knows her stuff but she cant explain it the way that student will easily understand. Her exams are also very confusing and poor written. I know she cares and want us to do well but maybe she should talkie it easy, its a 200 lv class for god sake.

I'm taking the online section of this class, and it's so bad. First of all everything is only around 5 points, and then the modules and activities are really long and harshly graded. It's too much to be expected from an intro class. The activities include many parts and it's only worth 6 points. Sincerely, a horrible experience.

I'm a junior in Kinesiology and this is possibly the worst professor i've ever encountered here at ISU. The content is read directly from the slides and is not broken down to a level in which students are able to learn/understand the content. I have to try 10x harder in this low level class than any of my higher level classes combined.

Kukday should not be a professor that instructs any class as she is not focused on teaching students any material. Her activities are tedious and do not help with understanding in the slightest. I now understand why she teaches the class online as she does not want to interact with students.

Dr. Kukday is not at Iowa State to teach, that much is obvious. She rarely responds to emails which makes it seem that she is not concerned with how her students are doing or what questions they have. Her lectures leave more to be desired as they are incredibly boring and unimaginably useless for the exams that she writes. Do not take Dr. Kukday.

Terrible teacher. She has been on probation countless times. So many students fail her tests that she hands out extra credit like it's going out of style. All tests have retakes. She needs to go.

Throws out extra credit like no other. Shes been on probation for awhile now because of a high fail rate for her classes. But now theyre super easy because shes trying to get off probation. You wont learn much though. If you need to take bio and arent a life sciences major take it with her

Do yourself a favor and AVOID KUKDAY AT ALL COSTS. I got a 45/100 on her first test despite the fact that I am a straight A student. She tried to tell me I'm failing because I work full-time, which I've done throughout my entire undergrad career and then went on to say I was blaming her for low performance. It's literally your job to teach me...

Lectures moved too fast and was impossible to keep up in class so I stopped going and did work on my own time. Assignments were easy but exams were IMPOSSIBLE

This class was impossible. Lectures were word for word off slides, and the exams were impossible. 3 of the 4 exams had an average below 60, and the other was 68. There were about 25 points for extra credit, and the homework is really easy, but the exams made no sense.

I'm usually a straight-A student, but her class was impossible. I only got an A on her first test ONLY because it was exactly the same as the practice test, but the other three tests were extremely hard, I got below a 65. All of the questions on her test didn't make sense or were so in-depth. I tried reading the textbook, but it didn't help at all.

Her tests are impossible! You're allowed one page of notes, but no matter what you write down, it won't help. Every question is very tedious and application-based so you really need to know what she's talking about. The problem is, you won't because she reads her slides word for word. You can also get screwed over if you miss her bizarre deadlines.

The exams in this class are extremely hard. We just got done with Exam 1, and I haven't heard of anybody in the class getting over a 60%. These exams seem like 400+ level exams, and it's a 200 level general biology course. I would recommend getting literally any other professor for this course and avoiding any other classes she teaches.

This class was extremely difficult for no reason. The professor does not explain any of the material but instead usually just graded for completion which is the only reason I was able to get a B in this class. If you have the choice do not take any of her classes.

This class with Dr Kukday is tough. The weekly homework is not that hard and relatively easy. But her exams do not represent the content well. They are very hard. I have never gotten about 60%. I have put in so many hours for this class and even got a tutor. However, Dr. Kukday's exams are very hard, and she does not explain the information well.

Other sections of this class were allowed to use cheat sheets but we couldn't. She wouldn't reopen an assignment after I wasn't able to do it because of sickness.

This class was so hard. I struggled to receive above a 75 on the exams. Exam content was miles more complicated than lecture and course material.

Dr. Kukday is nice as a person, but as a professor her lectures are bad. Her slideshows are filled with pictures that she does not explain well, and she talks incredibly slow so she could easily fit more meaningful content into lectures but there isn't time. The test averages are in the low 60s even with 2 tries.

She seems nice, but reading assignments and other grades for class activities are all corrected to be 100% for participation, meaning that OLA (online learning assessments) are the only thing carrying your grade, pretty much. Lectures are useless, as I dont think her tophat is even brought into the grading scale.

She is a nice person but her lectures are so boring and drag on. You aren't prepared for the exams no matter how much you study. I considered skipping class and teaching myself but Top Hat is worth 75 points at the end of the semester. Lots of extra credit and you have to do all of the other assignments and you will get a decent grade. Good luck.
