Terrible at lecturing, provides practice midterms and tests that are faulty (many questions don't have a correct answer), and releases answer keys where he solves the problems incorrectly. Assignments are pretty much made by the TAs, although he does give extensions. Makes tests the day before we take them, pasting his code with missing parts.

Genuinely a great and understanding professor. Other people are probably upset because the class itself can be hard, but Ghani did everything in his power to help us succeed, giving us practice tests almost exactly like midterms & extensions on almost all assignments. His lectures can be boring but the slides are helpful and he IS a good prof.

Ghani is a nice guy, and he definitely tried to be helpful and accommodating when he could be. As others will mention, there are some rough edges to smooth out, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt because it was his first semester teaching 210. Lectures were a little bland sometimes, but he does post the slides and recording, which is cool.

Professor Ghani was a caring professor, but made things complicated with preventable errors that could simply be a product of his first semester teaching at UNC. Errors/incorrect answers were very common on practice exams and in lectures. The homework assignments were also very difficult if you didn't come in with a baseline understanding of java.

Clearly his first semester teaching. Accommodating to student needs/often granted extensions. Some assignments were unnecessarily difficult, and his lecture pacing was poor. Some lectures focused the entire class on 1 simple topic, but the final lecture introduced 3+ new challenging concepts that we were expected to know for the final 2 days later.

Very obviously new to teaching. Had nothing due for months and then 7 assignments crammed into the space of like 4 weeks - and these assignments were hard. Midterms are similar to practice ones, but answer keys had mistakes, so it was hard to understand topics and grading criteria. Dr. Ghani is a very unorganized professor, but is very "fair" with his extensions on assignments. absolute snoozer class, but easy tests and homework if you understand the concepts/research them independently

Ghani teaches 210 fantastically. The first half of the class is definitely a snoozer, and the second half rather difficult, but he provides you with so many resources, makes exams extremely fair, and is very good when it comes to grading. Absolutely great, every lecturer should record their lectures like Ghani, they were so useful. Great prof.

While lectures can be a little boring at times, he makes up for this in his caring personality and plethora of resources (videos, practice questions, etc). Ghani and his TAs were always available for questions, and it is undeniable that Professor Ghani is a king in the comp sci department.

Lectures are extremely boring, all he does is read his slides. Homework assignments are not very hard and don't take long. Exams are fairly easy as long as you study the content in the slides.

Good. Very passionate but he's just got an ASMR voice so it's hard to stay awake (I have never fallen asleep in a class, I came close in COMP 210). Kind of a very theoretically heavy class, so for projects you don't really know *how* to do anything. But there's like 700000 TAs so just go to one of the many office hours and they're super helpful.

Ghani is a nice guy, but his lectures are incredibly boring. He records all lectures and puts slides on Canvas. Like 110, coding assignments are autograded but are decently harder. He does not explain Java well as the class is focused on learning Data Structures with Java as opposed to the other way around. He drops the lowest of 2 midterms.

Wish all my classes were taught by ghani. recorded lectures made learning easy. he drops a midterm, extends hws, and does so much more to allow you to succeed than any other profs. coding hws can be tough but office hours are THE best. sure lecture is boring, but watch the recordings at your own pace and you'll see how well he explains concepts.

Pretty enjoyable/interesting class at times, but it was definitely some of the most BORING lectures I've been to. The lectures are recorded though and the assignments have extensions. He also dropped one midterm and coding assignment.

Lectures are super boring but not his fault it's data structures and attendance isn't mandatory. All lectures are recorded so you can go back, drops one out of two midterms. Overall wasn't a bad class and he's good at explaining concepts.

drops one of two midterms so that *can* be nice - try harder on the first as it is way easier than the second. don't cheat on the homework, and you'll do great! he doesn't do a great job explaining many concepts - went to office hours and he just walked through it with no real explanations. try not to fall asleep in class

Ghani has lenient deadlines on hw and is very helpful when you ask him questions, but going to class is a waste of time. Lectures are posted, so I learned by watching in 2x speed before midterms and I did fine. Just beware that they don't teach you java so coding hw can be difficult if you have no experience. TA office hours were helpful though.

Lectures are recorded so you don't have to go to class, but it was kind of weird because the material on midterms was nothing like our assignments, so you have to read the slides and listen carefully to lecture to do well on the tests. 1 homework and 1 midterm are dropped. Class is super boring at first but gets more interesting towards the end.

Dr. Ghani is awesome. Lectures got significantly more interesting as the semester continued. Midterms and the final are largely based on the lectures, so attending them will help you do well. Extremely lenient with due dates, and practice exams are very similar to the actual tests. Ghani even drops 1 midterm.

Professor Ghani is very knowledgeable. It is honestly better to just not go to lecture and watch his videos on 2x speed because he is very monotone and boring. I found myself sleeping in his class a couple times and I went back to watch the vids anyway. Midterms (one dropped) and Finals are weighted heavy so make sure you prepare for those.

I loved 210 with Dr. Ghani. His lectures may seem boring but I urge evryone to actually go to class because it makes it so much better and interesting! My grade in the course is not the best but that was due to other personal reasons, otherwise I think Dr. Ghani really sets you up to succeed! Really chill, wholesome guy!

There is no attendance grade and all lectures are recorded, which is nice. But content of the class is just kinda boring. Dr. Ghani speaks monotone throughout the lecture, but honestly who can blame him? At least the exams are not bad. You just have to watch the lectures closely, and he gives generous deadlines for the homework assignments.

It could be a hard course if you really want to understand everything in this course (for people with no much foundation for data structure in general). However, Dr.Ghani made it easier through lecture videos and very detailed powerpoints (which cover EVERTHING on exams). It's a bless that tests are not hard! Just make sure to read materials.

Professor Ghani was excellent at teaching data structures but I felt that the material covering algorithms was lacking. Overall it was a good class and the lectures were available online.
