WARNING: Absolutely does not care about teaching. She is busy with her own priorities and has a complete lack of consideration for her students. Doesnt respond to emails or even show up to office hours.
Not the easiest for comp--will make you work and revise to do a good paper, but very cool and interesting. She's a GA, so she knows what it's like to be working hard as a student. I had her for two semesters and would suggest her if you want to IMPROVE writing, not just breeze your way through.
This teacher has a lot of heart. She met with us, one on one, three times throughout the semestre. She isn't an easy grader, but she makes comp fun.

She is a little funky to look at but so is her personality. She will make you work but you really improve on writing. She never made class boring and she always smiled. She is hard so don't get mad if you don't try and she gives you a C or worse. If you show her that you've tried at least, she'll be lenient. She always pushed papers back. Shes cool
Awesome professor, great teaching style. Always made class fun - she cares, is understanding, and works with you to do well in her class (**she is a hard grader, but she gives you everything you need to do well - just need to work hard). A+++ Would take another Eng. class w/ her any day!

Ver nice lady. I like her teching stlye she makes it fun rather than how most english teachers are which is booring and you dread going to class. Had her during the summer and thaught she was hard but came to the conclusion that she was not. Found this out by having a hard as anyting prof as hard and want to take her again in the Spring 2006 term.
Very EASY class....and she is ALWAYS willing to help you...if you want an easy A....take this class!
She was an AWESOME professor. One of the greatest Ive ever had. Really willing to help. Tries to make the subject interesting, she knows not everyone is an english major. Some of the books are pretty lame, but she really does try to spice them up. You can pick your own topics for the papers. Very flexible. definitely take her.
She is an excellent professor. Her class is NOT easy, but if you do the work (it's a lot of work), you'll get an A. She provides good feedback. Really good teacher. I would take her again!!
She is o.k. But she is not an easy A, so if your not good at writing you can still pass but don't expect to get a B or A, there are easier professors out there so is up to you. She gives alot of work!!
Inter. of Drama...She's 90% of the time late to class. Her handwriting is illegible and incomplete, don't even bother. She's very unorganized, and her assignments are vague. Her grading is late, and grades don't go up till the end of the year. HOWEVER, she's very willing to help and listen to your problem. Overall good experience :)
She's a fun teacher but grades the essays very hard.
If you are the kind of person who really wants to learn how to write take Scarlett. She is a very tough grader but only because she wants you to learn. I got a 78 on my first paper and by the end I got 2 A's. I learned how to write and think like a college student. Also perk is 4 papers instead of 6. I struggled but in the end it was soo worth it.
Nice Professor, though very hard grader. If you are not a good writer then don't take her.

If you want to get a good grade in enc 1101 DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! shes an extremely hard grader and wont help you with your grade if you need it. I tried as hard as i could and i got a D+ in the class and in high school i was always getting A's in english. The bottom line is shes a terrible teacher and will make ur first semester a nighmare.
interpretation of fiction.. save yourselves. her class requires three novels, 3 journals (3 pages long each) and 3 papers (5 pages long each)... PLUS about 3 presentations and 2 scene performances. Yes SCENE PERFORMANCES. plus two midterms to top it off.If you dontlike to participate in discussions then skip this womans class.
hard grader. you must read and pay attention and participate and read and etc. and etc. and etc. she clearly is inspired by her work, but the scattered topics make it hard to find a theme.

I loved her! Really fun and enjoyable class. The grading was tough at times, but she grades you on how well you improve so if you try, you should leave with a good grade. She's a little unorganized but so easy going. She always made class fun and interesting. I did best in this class last sem and I looked forward to going. Not a HUGE amount of work
Teacher is not clear at all with any assignments and does not explain anything that needs to be done for any assignments.
This proffesor grades very harshly and yells alot for no reason she also assigns three essays a week
I think she was great, and I'm not only saying that because I got an A. Sure, she's pretty disorganized and vague at times. But she more than made up for that with her enthusiasm and desire for us to succeed and actually learn something. Her upbeat attitude and jokes made class fun. She only gave 2 easy quizzes so dont worry too much about the book

If you want an easy class she isn't it. She makes you work hard and she wants you to grow as a writer. If you're not a good writer but you try your best to improve she will give you a good grade at the end of the semester. I love her and have grown a lot as a writer because of her. Take the class seriously and shewill take your gade seriously.

One of the better teachers on campus. She's very easy going and yet very passionate about the whichever subject she teaches. Very easy to approach and relate to on the personal level. If you want that A though, you're going to have to work for it. Would highly recommend this professor, as for the subject itself, you have to somewhat appreciate it.
Had her for two classes already. She's easy, funny and really down to Earth. Extremely approachable and understanding. For my last class, she gave us a choice for 20% of our grade; it was either go to the Everglades or write a 5 page research paper with 10 sources. We all know what the class picked. lol
Looooooved her!! She was super easy and taught in a way that everyone could understand. She never got impatient if you didn't understand something. The only thing I had a problem with is when she would explain something it wouldn't always make sense... Definitely taking her again though
She's awesome! I'm a science major, but I love to write, and I fit right into class. I'd recommend her a million times over. There is quite a bit of work, but if you spend an honest amount of time on it, your writing will improve greatly in her class. She honestly cares about her students and our learning and has a personality that makes class fun!
Ms. Rooney is amazing and truly helps you become a better writer. She teaches the students to think outside the box... She definitely looks for depth when grading papers. She is helpful and will answer any questions. Best part of all she understands you and will work with you to ensure you have all the information you need to succeed!
Professor Rooney was the best professor I ever had! I got an A in this class and I am so happy I was able to have her as my professor! I would take her for every class if I was able to! I RECOMMEND taking her if you can! Her work is very easy and she is very interesting!! Definitely cares for her students!! BEST PROFESSOR EVER
Professor Rooney cares about her students if you are willing to put in the time. Always available to help. She does grade a little tough, but that is because she is pushing all of her students to do well. Recommended
Overall her class is VERY easy, easy A. I literally didn't do much in her class and I got an A. You have to do two presentations, but they only have to be 5-10 mins long and they are on the books you read. She never comes to class and she doesn't reply to emails. Its hard understanding her and what she wants though in her papers.

She is always late, never shows up to classes (and announces it when you're already seated). Her grading is absolutely false and preferential, handwriting ENTIRELY illegible (you wont understand anything). AND she doesn't give a hoot.
Overall, a very unprofessional professor. She missed class multiple times throughout the semester, and told us at the very last minute she was doing so through e-mail. She cuts the classes short and talks about personal issues during class. Barely helps you with your rough drafts; she only goes through the first page. Arrives late to class.
Extremely unorganized, arriving very late to almost every class and cancelling last minute, a real inconvenience for us commuters. Don't take in summer. She'll assign a reading, but will expect you to read and know random poems in a book of hundreds. Tough grader on papers. Waste of my time, really. I didn't learn a single thing about poetry.
Took her during the summer for creative writing - one of my favorite classes ever! She was incredibly helpful and very knowledgeable with different texts and genres. Incredibly approachable. She is an easy grader as long as you make an effort. Peer workshop was very helpful. Only cancelled one class and was always on time. Very funny too!
Overall, She's pretty nice. I really like her. She makes jokes here and there but it's because she's not a prude. If you do all her papers and homework according to the rubric then you'll pass. She's always willing to help out if necessary. She's super understanding and will listen to your needs. I'm taking her again for Poetry. No txtbk required.
I love this professor. Her course structure may be a little hard to get used to for some people, but she is a great teacher. By this I mean that she is sometimes late, cancels class last minute sometimes, and it may be hard to understand what she is looking for. But I have taken her twice and would take her class again. Analyze A LOT for papers.
Worst teacher i've ever taken. Didn't have class for the first 2 weeks of school because she canceled every single class minutes before it would start. Consistently late. Fools around in class. Not able to understand handwriting. Therefore feedback on papers suck. Doesn't know how to explain things. Terrible just terrible. Would not recommend.
She is probably the worst professor I've taken so far. She cannot stay on topic, she had us read multiple books within only a few days, and she doesn't even know when the end of the semester is coming. She freaked out and condensed the rest of the work we had. She's cool as a person, but NEVER again will I ever take ANY class with her.
Absolutely hilarious. Terrible handwriting, but will always explain what you did wrong and need to fix. Really does care about your grades. Super sweet. Took her for special topics, taking again for interpretation of lit. Wouldn't take anyone else, she loves her students.
Just run and do NOT look back. Unorganized, very. The poor organization and cancellations stresses you more than an Engineering Calculus class.
She doesn't post your grades online. I didn't know my grade for midterms and I don't know my grade now and the semester is over. She's very confusing when she explains the prompt for essays, everyone does badly. She cancels class a lot. She's canceled at least ten classes in the semester. When she doesn't cancel, she comes in late. Avoid her!

Unorganized. Late. Convoluted. Cancelled 8 classes so it's confusing as to what is going on. Class is an easy C+. Very hard grader on resume project. No way for you to work hard in class when there is no class. If you want a do nothing class for a C+ this is the class for you. She is nice though.
Rooney cancels class a lot but we never get behind. We did only two papers in the semester while other classes do like four. She really cares about our critical thinking development. I learned a lot from her.

Awesome professor! Cancels class a lot but let you leave early if there isnt anything to do so dont worry about busy work. Explains how to fix your papers and is willing to talk to you about your work. Very few assignments though. Overall nice person.
there is no where to see your grades and i dont know if she even really keeps track. you will have no idea what your grade is at all the entire semester and im pretty sure she just makes it up at the end. one of the worst

If you want a teacher that is off topic all the time and never posts grades the whole semester this is the professor for you! She bribes students into bringing dunkin donuts every class for "extra credit" or so she says just because she's lazy and hungry. Didn't post a single grade all semester so you have no idea how youre doing.
Was a very nice teacher. Cancelled so many classes sometimes wouldnt even show up. Brings her dog to class sometimes but made you do papers that were difficult to write about. She grades ok, very hard to read her writing and its a chill class you can take but is an easy C+ - B if u try. Attendance is mandatory
Despite what most people say, Id still recommend this instructor to anyone looking to take this course. Great person to be around to be honest, and if I had the option Id choose her as an instructor for all of my classes.

Nice professor but very unorganized. Always 5-10 min late. Does not give clear instructions on assignments. Extra credit is given on quizzes. Beware of presentations (one group/individual). You will pass, just work hard and do well on the papers.
The class was easy she does quizzes in each class over what you were supposed to read for homework. Although she was easy she would come to the class late and loses her notebook where she writes the grades for the class (affected my grade at end of the semester). You have to write papers and she grades them very tough go to the writing center!!
Professor Rooney was an excellent instructor in my most recent creative writing class. She has the soul of poet and is charming and caring to her students. I am better off having had met her than not. If you are looking for an easy elective, your a ding dong. Creative writing is in everything human.
Loved her as a person but extremely unorganized as a teacher. Very hard to keep track of what was due and everything was extremely vague. Easy class if you do all the reading but cannot slack off because there are only a few grades and they are all worth a lot of points.
All other reviews are true. What they don't say are how many papers/easy they are. The only problem I had was following the prompt clearly, but had good evidence and story line though. I would take again for a literature if it was online and if she was accessable outside of class more often. Other than that, every day is something random.....
The class was enjoyable, she's hip and relatable. 4 papers (2-3 pages long) done for the summer term and 3 pop quizzes. 2 movies to watch and had discussions about it before we wrote our papers. Get extra credit easily and the only downside is the work cannot be submitted online (summer term).
She was a nice professor. She is well known for cancelling class and has done so before because she overslept. She is not much of an organized person but, she is passionate about the subject and knows her literature. PARTICIPATION matters! Her instructions on how to write a paper are vague but give her something to work with and she'll help.
No clear grading criteria, syllabus was posted a month after classes begun, which she never followed, classes were very disorganized, you never know what is required. She was 30mins late everyday & cancelled more than half of the classes as a result we completed 1 paper in the first 4 months & 3 papers in the last 5weeks. No useful feedback.

She is an incredibly kind and special professor! She did an amazing job transitioning in the middle of the semester to our live WebEx meetings. Our class had an intimate connection, filled with vulnerability, especially in our shared writings. Professor Rooney gave insightful and direct criticism on papers and expected you to push yourself!
Terrible teacher! Unclear grading criteria, unhelpful, unfair grader, poor communication skills. Would NOT recommend! You will regret taking her class. Would have been a fun class with a different teachers because the books aren't bad.
Professor Rooney is a decent professor, giving feedback when needed. However, her workload is too much and is not clear in deadlines. She can randomly post something and have it due the next day. Beware of this, it has happened multiple times without any prior notice. Her grading criteria is also not very clear, as you do not know what she wants.

She truly cares about her students and wants to help you. Attendance is not mandatory but you get extra credit. Mainly just discussion posts and a few papers but they are not hard. She basically tells you exactly what to do. In lectures, she basically talks about the papers and the discussion posts.
If you want an easy A, this wont work for you, however if you truly desire to elevate your writing, this is the class to take. Kind, yet blunt, intelligent yet down to earth - Scarlett is truly a woman full of spunky, bombastic personality. Show interest in her class, youll quickly find her become one of the most dependable professors in miles.
Additional to all of the stress that comes with the unorganized dynamic of her teaching style, no concession for grading is made to compensate for this. I received the first C paper in my collegiate career in this course, which was the last General Education requirement needed to graduate. This course destroyed my upperclassmen GPA. DO NOT TAKE.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I ignored the previous ratings and regret it! This is the first class in my college career where I have received a 50% on an English assignment. The class average for all discussion posts is 60%. She's unclear about what she wants from her students and refuses any guidance. She also ignores all her emails!
The class itself is not hard; however, she's the most unorganized professor I've ever had. Her instructions aren't clear and she picks and chooses when she wants to respond to emails. Late grader too. I've never had to review a professor before but Rooney's class is frustrating. If you can avoid this professor, do so and save yourself the trouble.
Loves what she does and loves to talk in class. However, is very disorganized and is a tough grader. Is always unclear about what she wants. Also, she's strict about plagiarism, even if it's an accident. She has reported many students so cite EVERYTHING. Is a fun professor but check canvas everyday because there are always surprise assignments.
I took her for the summer term for ENC1102 and being brutally honest she can be all over the place when it comes to assignments but she is very understanding so just make sure to voice your concerns to her and she will explain it throughly. This professor is extremely disorganized and is all over the place, she made my life and the students in my class's lives extremely stressful as she puts assignments on canvas the night before it is due and doesn't give you a grade till after the class is over.
I have emailed her countless times and still have not gotten a response, everything about this class is an unorganized mess. Nothing is clear and unless you write like Shakespeare you're going to be graded extremely harshly. I've never gotten below a B on any writing assignment in my entire 15 years of schooling until taking this class. DONT TAKE
She's genuinely a great professor and her lectures are always fun! If you actually want to learn, then she's the right professor for you. Just prepare to put in a LOT of effort and time because she's a tough grader. You're also allowed to use open notes/books on the final exam. Professor Rooney is a critical and expressive teacher. Her style of lecture is interactive and exciting. Any issues with grading or assignments can be resolved through an after-class discussion.
She is a very sensitive grader, like if you miss one word or something you already lose a whole letter grade off than assignment. Her course is also very messy because her assignments are all over the place. Overall she is a very nice teacher and it is best to message her a lot because she cares a lot for her students. Gives tons of extra credit.
Easy class made up of just some discussion boards and essays. Quantity over quality for discussion boards. I usually spent 2 hours per essay and never got lower than a 97. Her standards are really low, and if you actually want to learn, I wouldn't recommend her. She doesn't really give good feedback and she barely goes over writing in class.

One of the most aggravating classes i've had. She is so disorganized and all over the place, making the work very stressful. Lots of reading, pop quizzes, discussion boards, and documentary discussions. She can be a strict grader and she doesn't allow phones or laptops in class. She was nice but so so frustrating.
She is very nice and a good person, but the class is very unorganized. Assignments are all over the place with random text annotations, discussion boards, as well as seminars and heavy papers. The papers are the most intense requiring a lot of effort and sources, & I've asked around, this class has 10x more work than all other ENC 1102 classes.
She's a lovely woman, although a very unorganized, messy professor. She's very unprofessional in the worst way possible. Attendance is required, and her policy is very strict, although if you communicate with her, she's very understanding, but she NEVER answers emails. She's also a very tough grader, so make sure to meet with her frequently.
I took her over the summer for a 6 week course. The discussion boards were generally easy besides the fact that some of the texts were very long and boring. She was an easy grader but I found her assignments to be very tedious and boring.
College Writing 2 required a lot of work. Professor Rooney is a tough grader and gives little to no feedback, with most feedback coming from other students. The class structure felt poor, and the teaching style didn't help me grow.
I wouldn't take her ever again. She's a very tough grader and does not give clear instructions. She expects you to do exactly what she thinks is right. She's very unorganized; her canvas setup is a nightmare. This is for GEB 3213
Although she is an interesting woman, she is a bad professor. She is very disorganized. Even after clarification, I was constantly confused on the assignments & I couldn't rely on the syllabus. You have to be a good writer to pass this class, and there are constant time consuming assignments. You need to go to every class and participate to pass.
