The 7 week class is very intense but if you go to class it isnt bad. Tests are fair but the paper is rough. If you have any problems in the class go to her. She wants to help you
Best Professor at GW. For such dry and complex subject matter, she makes it clear and easy. Class time goes by quickly, she keeps students engaged in the topics. Wonderful Professor!
Rehman is awesome! her lectures are so interesting and she is very knowledgable on the subject. There is a group project but its not that bad. A lot of work for it, but dont get intimidated. She is awesome. probably one of the better professors I have had here at GW. EXCELLENT CLASS!
Awesome lectures. Lots of work and a little stressful, but she curves the grades and most people end up very happy.
Prof. Rehman is probably one of the best professors I've had at GW. This is a challenging course but she will help you and you will learn a lot, plus she curves! The lectures are very interesting and she is very knowledgeable in the subject. If you have to take the class, take it w/her.
Excellent professor. I wish the course were longer! Project is intense and tests are hard but she's a fair grader and you really feel like you learn alot.
tough class, but Prof. Rehman is one of the best professors at GW. Very fair grader and you'll get alot out this class.
She is the best professor!!! I wish I could take another class with her. Iam the type of person that tends to dream during class lectures but her lecture had my attention the whole time!!! She is a smooth speaker and very knowledgeable about her stuff...she is the director of EU! so she can hook u up with an internship too... I miss her class...
A terrible professor who does not care at all about students. Grading seemed arbitrary.
Amazing professor! - You will learn a lot from her class. Her quizzes are hard, but she curves them, so getting a B in her class is not hard.
Rushes through every class, does not discuss subjects fully, but you must attend. You also have to read all the chapters she assigns thoroughly in order to do well in her class. Interesting business topics. 20-Point CURVE!
Amazing professor! I loved her class and learned so much. The quizzes and project are tough, and attendance is mandatory, but the project is all about applying concepts to explain graphs and charts, that's it, and the curve is HUGE! I highly recommend this class.
She knows how to teach, but do not care about her students. Very hard tests and huge project. The course is rushed. Very hard to get good grade.
I love her...but there is just FAR too much work for a 1.5 credit class. The group project is a KILLER. And It's due the week of the final. Which I'm sure is just as bad. Curves but I just don't think it's worth taking unless you are genuinely interested in International Finance.
Professor Rehman is by far the greatest professor I've ever had. She knows her****. You will learn a TON about international business. The class is definitely a lot of work, but it is completely applicable to any business student. You're an idiot if you don't take it with her. Also...she curves every assignment, and then curves the final grade!
TAKE HER CLASS! By far the best professor. You learn a ton, but she keeps it fast paced, exciting and interesting. It is definitely a lot of work, but it is completely applicable for any business student. I can't wait to take more of her classes. AND...she curves every assignment and then curves the final grades! Take the class!
Rehman is one of the better profs at GW. The class involved two rather laborious projects, but it was worth it for the lectures.
Professor Rehman is interesting at times as she knows quite a bit about world economy but she is not dedicated to teaching. She does not seem to care about students. Her lectures are unorganized and exams are unfair as she says she is going to test you on something and she doesn't.
Must take. Hard, but she knows a lot. You will gain from this class even if you do poorly. My favorite professor at GW.
Not sure what to tell you. She is kinda weird, but in general she all right. Wouldnt say she is teh best professor at GWU. I wouldnt take her again.
Pretty hard. Long group project and very tricky quizzes. Her lectures are 60+ slides and she expects you to know way too much for a 1.5 credit course
Lectures were a little boring but Rehman is extremely knowledgeable about the subject. Tests were pretty hard but the curve at the end of the semester helps out a lot.
Most knowledgeable professor in International Finance I've had at GW. Material comes from handouts and powerpoint presentations. Very informative and real world applicable. Highly recommended.
Rehman is a very engaging and smart professor who knows what she is talking about. The problem is that there is so much material, she seems to rush through everything. Exams are challenging, group paper is an absolute nightmare - my group's was pushing 50 pages. This class needs to be the whole semester. Good class, but not worth the stress.
(International Financial Environment) Best Prof at GW. Knows her**** and has the hook up all over DC. Get an A in your class and you get an internship. It is a lot of work but not as hard as everyone says. Just pay attention in class and read the book. Massive curve on everything. I strongly recommend
Rehman is very knowledgeable and wants to teach you! It's important to go to class because so much information is covered and she talks about the most current issues in the global economy. Study for the tests, but know the curve is generous.
She was a good professor, but with a very liberal slant - if you can cope with that you are fine! Her TA, Anoma, does most of the work, but both are helpful. Exams not to tough (didn't study, got a B) and final paper is long, but not to hard if you don't leave it until the last min. Recommended.
Professor Rehman is the "Best" Professor at GW. Her teaching syle is unmatched and she wants her students to be knowlegable in many areas. She challenge the students with tough assignments to make them better. As a student you will not forget her.
BEST professor at GW. she is one of the most respected people in her industry and has been on Colbert Report/the news many times. You really have to put in effort to do well in her class, but the reward of doing well will prove the hard work paid off. Her TA Anoma does most of the grading. 55 page group paper due. Hard exams, but study hard!!!
This was the first year BADM 1004 was offered and it was not the best class. Professor Rehman is amazing and is obviously knowledgable. She has been on the Colbert Report twice and knows what she is talking about. She is very approachable and a nice person, can be a little arrogant at times but she's an extremely impressive person.
Professor Rehman knows what she is talking about, but most students find it hard to follow. The quizzes were mostly random questions taken from readings and powerpoints, so it's difficult to know what to study specifically. Group project guarantees that you won't get an A because she bases part of the grade on how many views you get on your video.
I loved having Rehman as a professor, she made it known from the start the class was going to make you read a lot, some interesting others not. The quiz format changed a lot, and the youtube project was worth almost half her section grade. Overall she is an interesting lady and I wouldn't mind sitting through another lecture.
Pretty solid professor. Would take her again for sure. Very helpful. Willing to meet outside of class time for help/scheduling conflicts. Known to be tough, but a top professor that definitely pushes you.
Don't take Age of Globalization with her. She's an interesting woman who is respected in the International affairs community but I don't know why she was teaching this course. The course is actually awful and was co-taught with another professor. Grading criteria was unclear and class was just all over the place. Unfortunatley BADM1004 is mandatory
God she's an awful professor. I got an A in the class honestly would have preferred to take it in the spring if I had known what an arbitrary sort of person she is with assignments. A good grade literally comes down to who gets the most youtubes hits on a video. This class teaches you nothing until the second half when she is not the professor.
Scheherezade Rehman is one of those teachers who does not care about her students and doesn't want them to succeed. The quizzes are so hard and are just memorization. She is not a good teacher and not a nice person. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. She is very smart, but is an awful teacher and has no heart.
I really enjoyed going to her lectures. She's very knowledgeable and very funny. Her Global Financial Environment class wasn't overly demanding. We had 5 quizzes (one is dropped), live currency trading simulation and a group essay. No final exam.
Prof. Rehman is a real gem to the GWSB. She is perhaps the most interesting lecturer that I've had at GW thus far and kept me engaged throughout the whole semester. I'd 100% recommend taking Age of Globalization with her. The material is interesting and the lectures are insightful.
she's an interesting person herself but her class was just meh. I didn't understand what the class was about and she goes off tangents. there's soooo much reading and none of them are related to the lecture.
Rehman is an incredibly accomplished person in her own life. Look her up and you'll see. However, her lectures are somewhat disjointed and there is no clear direction to them, they are interesting to listen to though. With so much random material the quizzes are very hard to study for but there is a curve at the end of the year.
Professor Rehman tries really hard to make the class engaging, which is admirable. While I think it is very difficult for a first-year business course, you will be proud of the projects you do. The quizzes are very hard and most people don't do well, but between projects, extra credit, and a curve, you'll get a good grade in the class.
Prof. Rehman is an amazing lecturer. Maybe it's because I am into all the subjects she discusses, but I am in awe everytime she talks. She is very accomplished professionally and practices everything she preaches. Also, she curves your grade at the end! Thought I was getting a B or B+ but surprisingly got an A-. 100% recommend.
She's an ok professor. I wouldn't recommend her nor would I say that I hate her. The coursework is interesting but she assigns so much homework. Usually the homework isn't even related to the lectures. She curves all quizzes based on what the highest grade was in the class. Her youtube video was ridiculous, part of it is based on youtube hits.
Terrible terrible terrible teacher. She is by far the worst teacher ive ever had. She reads off the slides, is very unorganized with hw, gives a LOT of reading (very repetitive and random readings) and honestly doesn't know how to teach. Quizzes are based purely on memorization of minute details. 10/10 would not recommend.
Loved her as a teacher, she is very upfront and tells you what she expects from you. There is a bit of reading but its worth it and relevant. When you take her test you're just have to base them off slides she reads so they aren't that bad.
Why not improve the PowerPoint instead of taking attendance in various ways?
Amazing professor. There are no midterms or finals. However, you do have 5 relatively big quizzes throughout the semester and 2 group projects. Overall, a solid choice for you Age of Globe requirement.
Terrible teacher. She was my worst nightmare. She gives extremely long, unnecessary readings and she is the worst lecturer. The quizzes are a complete joke. They are purely memorization, so if you're not ready to read tons and memorize, then don't take this class.
Great professor, really knows what she is talking about and wants students to learn. Quizzes were difficult, manageable if you studied. Lots of reading, articles, textbook, videos, fast-paced lectures. Was very vague with projects and didn't help much, but still learned a lot. TopHat for attendance. Amazing guest lecturers. 10/10 recommend
One of the most interesting classes I've ever taken: you'll learn so much on a variety of subjects. However her grading is irrational: TA's grade everything and can mess up your grade so talk to them. Everyone fails the quizzes bc they're the most specific & out of the blue but big curve at the end. You probably won't get an A but def worth it.
If you want to know a teacher who likes double standards, then I highly recommend choosing her
Rehman is a cool prof: she has a lot to say about global business. Quizzes are intense, so STUDY, but there aren't tests. One big Shark Tank group project and a stocks project due in late Nov. Quizzes are curved at the end, GO TO OFFICE HOURS if you quiz grades aren't great, she keeps track and it'll help your individual curve in the end.
Old school professor with EGO. The content is old and some slides are 1998 version! The exams are all test banks, but be careful, you need to make some intentional mistake so she doesnt caught you (online exams). There are tons of instructions and BOLD that will cause you a headache. Even youre post-grad student, she considers you as high school.
This class was the most difficult one I took my freshman year. She assigns two projects, one of which was a large group project with no adjustments during COVID. She is a harsh grader as well and doesn't provide much feedback. This is a lecture-heavy course and there are some interestng speakers but you will feel invisible.
I really liked the topics in this class and I think Professor Rehman is very experienced. She gave us the opportunity to attend some amazing lectures with great guest speakers! The only thing I didn't like is that there are two major assignments that are worth a big percent of the final grade and she didn't really give us much explanation on them.
Hey, so you are probably confused after reading all those mixed reviews. To be honest she is an amazing professor but her testing methods are horrific and horrendous. They are kind of unattainable most of the time. The questions are always very specific. Its not that you cant do it, it's just that how much effort you put in bc its alot of material.
I would not recommend this professor. Doing well largely requires academic dishonesty. Quizzes are absurd. Tested on chapter readings (20+ pages), Lectures, and Articles (2 min - 4/5 max) per quiz. Quizzes are 50% of the grade. Questions come from all three categories and each has different information so you must study all. Not worth the stress!
There is no amount of explanation I could provide as to how inconsiderate this class is compared to others. ZERO feedback on anything. She protects the quizzes is if it's life or death. We got graded on everything but there is NO feedback on why u got that grade. A freshman class should not be of this rigor absolutely disgusted! Tbh take Maurer.
I took her freshman level class as a sophomore and it was harder than most of my classes this semester. She is a rude and inconsiderate teacher. She gives the hardest quizzes once every few weeks and even showed the class who got the highest and lowest grades. ( Yes, with our names). The group projects were not fun either!
This professor I have a lot of mixed feelings about. She is very experienced and knows what she's talking about. However, your grade will be HEAVILY based on your quiz grades, a group shark tank project, and an individual stock project. My biggest advice would be to be on top of your stock project, in the end, that's what really helped my grade.
This is the first time I am writing a review here because I feel obligated to help people avoid her. She is rude and inconsiderate. Tests are ridicilous pure memorization and require an insane amount of work or cheating to do well. Everyone cheated. Most lectures are about useless topics. You should avoid her and they should fire her.
I am not a business major but I took this class as an elective and I would not really recommend anyone this class. There is a lot of reading, more reading than any of my other classes, and the quizzes are almost every 2 weeks. The professor is very knowledgeable, but this class is hard.
DO NOT TAKE REHMAN. She assigns SO much reading and then quizzes you on the small details of it. It was way too heavy of a workload for a 3 credit hour class. Please save yourself the pain. This class made me absolutely miserable. Exams/ Quizzes were really difficult.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Sure, the lectures are not that boring, but her quizzes are the most ridiculous things I have even taken. She asks the most specific and random assortment of questions based on her lectures and the textbook reading. The class is interesting, but the level of difficulty of the quizzes does not make it worth taking. Avoid her class!
Dr. Rehman is inspiring but an extremely difficult & unfair professor. She grades you based off so called quizzes(actually exams w/ very specific questions) & a group project that only includes elements you do not learn in the course(econ, entrepreneurship). Requires a lot of reading & effort that goes unnoticed. Do not recommend, tanked my GPA.
Professor Rehman is very knowledgeable, and I learned a lot from her. There are no tests, but instead quizzes with very specific questions from the readings/lectures. Most of the grades are from two projects, a stock contest and a shark tank project. My favorite part was the amazing guest speakers and the opportunity to visit the World Bank.
Great professor, very knowledgeable. Quizzes are tough but do the readings and you will be fine.
Overall, this class was challenging but enjoyable. Her lectures, while long, can be interesting, and the guest speakers/World Bank visit was cool. The quizzes are tough, but you can help your grade with the Shark Tank and Stock project. TA's were also super helpful and improved my grade in the class.
She exudes awesomeness and knowledge while covering many interesting topics in her class. Her class is very interesting, though some subjects feel less relevant. Beware that her quizzes are specific, a single word on the slideshow specific, but her quizzes are curved at the end of the course, and if you study enough, you should be fine.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST professor I have ever taken at my time at GW. SO UNFAIR with grading, does not have clear grading criteria and is horrible at giving lectures. 50% of your grade is from the quizzes but nothing you actually learn in the lectures is on them. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! I'm surprised she doesn't get 10000 reports from students.
Professor is knowledgeable. However, quizzes make the course more difficult than it needs to be. Quizzes are strictly based on the textbook (60 pages) and her lectures (50+ slides) which we are then tested on the most obscure parts. Quiz average was close to 60-70%. Do well on the group project/stock game. Challenging for an "intro" level course.
Her lectures were very interesting but way too fast. Quizzes are frequent and absolutely ridiculous but the curve helps a lot. You have a semester-long group project that she gives little to no instruction for, but if you see the TA they're very helpful and will walk you through it. Just really follow her instructions and you'll do fine.
Rehman is a nice teacher but the class itself is challenging for an intro course. Quizzes are very hard and the questions are super specific, (asks a lot about percentages from the book) be prepared to study for those because they're 50% of the grade.
Overall, Professor Rehman was a good teacher. However, her quizzes did not make sense as they relied purely on textbook memorization. Additionally, the TAs were disorganized when tracking attendance, so make sure your attendance is properly recorded
Useless lectures, doesn't have clear grading criteria, quizzes are 50% closed book and ask you specific questions from 50 pages of reading. Avoid taking this class, she is not a very good professor.
She has good connections but all of her exams are generated and corrected by AI. Her only advice on studying for her extremely frequent quizzes is ask ChatGPT to help you which I did and still did terrible and got no peronalized help from her. Would not take again. Paying thousands of dollars for a class just to have AI teach it to me is insane.
She's honestly not bad at all. I was so scared to take her initially because of the reviews but do the readings and eventually by the third quiz you'll jsut know the types fo questions she asks. also being buddy buddy with the TA definitely helps.
She is super nice and a really good teacher. Lecture heavy and lots of readings, we had 7 quizses over the semester and two projects, no final.
The course changed a lot this semester. Almost weekly quizzes that are SO SPECIFIC its basically impossible to study for. A major group project, just hope you get a good group and you will be fine. Curve at the end is good.
Very engaging, can be intense about how the world is changing but clear she's knowledgeable. There's a period of 7 weekly quizzes, but 2 get dropped and if you put in effort and study you'll get decent grades. No final, big group project but I was more worried than I needed to be.
Faced paced but manageable lectures, we were done with all work before thanksgiving break and there was no final which was clutch.
This class was hard at first but once you get the hang of it it's not bad. There's 7 quizzes and the best way to study for them is having chatgpt make practice tests because that's how she makes them. Fully done with content by thanksgiving, there is no midterm or final. Hope you get a good group for the final project because its 40% of the grade.
Huge part of the grade is quizzes and one group project. The quizzes are fairly difficult and they're based on lectures and the numerous articles she gave us to read. The "curve" she promised to give us was non-existent and overall she made the class so much harder than it should be. She has good connections in the industry though.
