Mr Adamson is great, has a wonderfulcurve, and is projects are a blast. Calc 2 was very easy to understand.
He is awesome and everyone should rush to try and get him. He makes math fun and totally will help you out if you want it.
Awesome teacher! He's very enthusiastic about his subject and genuinely loves his job.
He is an awesome teacher...if you don't understand something though, make sure you speak up...he's always happy to explain a problem in different ways, and uses projects that apply the subject to real life...I wouldn't take Calculus with anyone else, and I
Scott was one of the best math teachers I have ever taken. Loves what he does, and does a excellent job at teaching, and makes class very interesting and fun. I would recommend him to anyone! He will do anything to help you understand the material. Just Excellent All Around! :)
Scott is by far the best math teacher i have ever had in college. This guys is in love with two things his family and his job. I thank him for getting me by, your awesome!!
This guy is a pretty good teacher. He know what he's teaching and know how to get it across to the students. He'll help out with problems most of the time. He'll pretty much give you all the information you need to know to solve the problems. He doesn't like to baby his students, as he knows it's important for us to learn on our own.
Scott is an awesome teacher who has an excellent way of teaching the material. His jokes were great and so were his songs and skits.
Take Adamson for any class, he is a great teacher who cares about his students learning.
for a math teacher he was great! very nice when it came to grading...take him and it will be an easy A or B
the best teacher you can take for these classes tests can be a bit hard, but everything else makes up for it. take him!
You will never hear a negative comment about this teacher. He is the best teacher anyone could have for a college professor. Very very funny, and very caring about his students, and making sure they succeed. If you have the chance to take him you will love him. TAKE HIM! He will be the best teacher you have ever had. Trust me!!
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. Enthusiastic, patient, and finds ways to explain things different vice repeating the same story. He has a different math teaching style than you're probably used to so come in with an open mind and stick it out and you'll know the material without ever having to memorize a thing.
Dr. Adamson is a great teacher. He makes class enjoyable and explains the material very well. He's understanding and gives you plenty of time to get homework and projects done. Definitely recommended!
Scott Adamson is a very knowledgeable math professor. He definitely knows his calculus, and he and Trey Cox have formed a very immersive math program for the students. His methods might be considered unnecessarily difficult by some, because he randomly grades homework and makes sure you know your stuff, but he just wants the students to learn.
It is a self taught Class. He will go whole class periods with the class making mistakes and at the end tells us how to do it. He is disorganized when it comes to assigning and collecting homework. He doesn't refrence any book so if you want to learn the material you better take alot of good notes.
He is awesome! He explains things so well..he can get a little off track, but that lets you know he is human and that messing up is ok
Talks to only like 2 students. knows his stuff rather well but i would prefer if he didn't think he has discovered a new way of teaching and have students explain complex mathematical concepts and rather taught them himself. He literally will cram a whole class period into 10 min because he wasted the other time experimenting with his teaching
If you like math and want to learn it too, then take his classes.
He's an awesome and very efficient teacher. He takes new mathematical concepts, and has you try and figure it out before he explains it, and then when he tells you it makes that much more sense because you've already been thinking about the concept. People that don't like his methods are anal perfectionists and might as well read the entire text.
he is really nice, and teaches you everything you would expect in pre calculus. i took his combo class (121-151) and it is very helpful.
Simply put. Dr. Adamson is the best. I had him for Calc 1-3 and diff. eq, and I enjoyed his class a lot. He's a great guy and absolutely loves what he does; he'll go way out of his way to help you understand the concepts. He does not cover quite as much as traditional teachers might because he focuses on understanding not repeating the process.
He does a great job explaining concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand. Class time was spent doing things that actually helped teach the concepts, so he assigned barely any mandatory homework. There's "homework" problems available if you want to do them, but they're not mandatory or graded. He's really helpful in and out of class, too!
Professor Adamson has a unique and unconventional philosphy in regards to the way he teaches. If you can get past that and let go of your previous perception of the subject you will enjoy the experience. He is an exceptional teacher and truly wants he students to succeed.
Scott Adamson is an excellent teacher. He makes all of the concepts clear and shows you how to reason and understand topics, not just memorize steps. He stretches your knowledge and makes you think. He does his best to make sure everyone understands the topics before moving on. I HIGHLY recommend taking math classes from him.
Great teacher! Genuinely seems to enjoy teaching. I would love to take another class with him in the future.
Pretty good teacher! He made me kinda like math. :-)
Best math teacher I've had! Funny and nice guy. He teaches in a way that you learn to think for yourself. It's not just formula based teaching - you learn what the formula does, how it applies to the real world and how to use it. I'm so bad at math and Scott made it so much better for me. Take him for all your math!
He can make a monkey understand algebra. Take his class!
Wonderful teacher! Very clear and helpful. Calculus 2 is not an easy class, but with Dr. Adamson he made it very easy to understand. His tests and math projects are harder but he will help you as much as he can. Nothing will be unexpected. Take his class while you can!!!!
Brilliant professor, *almost* made me want to major in math, and I hate math! Best math professor I've ever had, very highly recommended.
He was the first instructor I had at Chandler Gilbert. I am so glad I took him for Calculus as he explained everything in detail. Now, his classes aren't easy, but he walks you through EVERYTHING. Homework plays only a supplemental role and the class focuses on group work on problems and a few group projects. Excellent professor, take him now!
He doesn't use a textbook, even though he wrote one. He is quite comical and makes it as fun as it can be. If you want to pass then you need to practice on your own....self discipline. Only thing I think is negative is his "favorites"....everyone else gets pushed to the way side.
Excellent instructor. Several books used for class, relevant paperbacks on teaching math. This is not a lecture class, heavy on classroom discussion and participation. Class moves quickly and if you're absent you have missed a lot. Enjoyed it immensely and I always disliked math--like it now!
Would take him again in a heartbeat! Class time flew by as it's active, filled with movement and conceptual learning. He inspires, he creates value with the student and learning. You will learn the "whys" behind procedural math and teach math in a new way! He uses multiple resources for his material and you put it to practice in class!!
Hands down, best professor I've ever had. He has found the perfect balance of humor and teaching, which he executes flawlessly each and every class period. Super fun class, learned a lot and had THE best time in his class. I actually looked forward to going to math class at 730 am because of him! Highly, highly recommended for any level of math!
Although he didn't even touch the textbook, his explanations were detailed and thorough. You do have to study quite a bit on your own, but you are given a great opportunity to succeed. His grading is pretty consistent, and his projects require structured work and diligence; but overall the class was WELL worth my time, and easily recommended!
He's an amazing professor. He really cares about his students and makes class periods very interesting. His sense of humor makes his longer classes a lot easier to cope with.
I have had Scott for the past two semesters and have enjoyed his class so much! He is hands down my favorite professor ever! He cares for his students, makes class fun, and at the end, you realize that you learned a lot! I would highly recommend him!
Confusing! I thought I was in an educational babble class.
I had Adamson for 4 semesters of math at CGCC, he is the best at teaching calculus, his class is fun, interactive, and educational. But when it comes to DiffEQ, dont waste your time in his class, DiffEQ is not his thing, and the format of the class is worse than his calc classes, and harder!
Dr. Adamson is the BEST professor I have ever had!! He knows how to teach and truly wants the best for his students. His tests and projects are VERY fair. I wish he would teach every class I need to take! Seriously... if you have the chance to take from him... DO IT!!!! You wont regret it. I took CALC 2, CALC3, and Modern DIFF EQ from him.
Dr. Adamson is possibly the best professor I've ever had. He's a lot of fun, engaging, and understanding. His primary goal is for his students to understand the subjects he teaches, and that goal shines through in everything he does. I would recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Adamson was able to teach at a level that made me excited for Calculus(2). A feat that I thought never could happen. I have made it a point to finish my math out with him as he makes math fun!
He is a nice guy but I definitely wasn't ready for the next class. I love how active and engaging he is, but the problem is we don't get enough done in class because we spend all class on a one problem. It makes more sense but it is not practical in the time constraints. This is why I don't feel ready for my next class with a different instructor.
WOW!! I can't say enough great things about this man. i hated math until i took him. he cares about student success and doesn't make you feel like your dumb and he is the genius. very personable. you don't really need the book you can get it from the tutoring center. 5 test they are all take home and test 3 you can take 3 times. you will love him!
He is animated and passionate. He makes it his ultimate goal to make sure you understand. He is great! My favorite math teacher on campus!
Scott is an amazing teacher he is extremely clear and concise when he gives a lecture. home work is optional but can be put towards your test grade if done. i wouldn't even think of taking anyone else for calculus
Excellent Teacher. Loves his job. Teaches the material very well in an interesting manner. If you have to take calc 1-3 and diff EQ, and you can get into his class before it fills up, TAKE IT! It will be the best choice you ever made, with respect to upper level math courses.
Dr. Adamson is a great educator in general. He knows how to break the material down to the bare bones then work up from there. His tests are everything he does in class, and he asks for explanations, which he gives partial credit for everything you do know. Am taking him for Calc 2 and 3 for sure.
He overdoes the "thinking" to the point of getting confusing. His way or no way. I wonder if he knows we lose sight of applications and use of the subject in my physics and engineering.
This professor is very overrated.
Math has never been my strong suit, but Scott Adamson came highly recommended to me by other faculty, and they did not lead me astray. I feel that I really learned the material without having to sell my soul to do it. Extremely helpful and available in and out of class time to help. If I take mire math classes I will build my schedule around him
Nice guy who has a lot of cheesy jokes. He is not an easy teacher but really wants you to understand the material. Lots of group work. Goes super into depth on problems during class . Surprise questions on tests. He is testing understanding, not memorization. He likes to try and blow your mind so you will get confused sometimes.
He is the best Math teacher I have ever had. Makes you understand everything in a fun and easy way. I would so take him again Not a lot of homework and quizzes are okay
I love love loved this class. By far one of my favorites. He makes sure you understand the math almost through the eyes of a 4th grader (because all good things happen in 4th grade) (class inside joke you'll understand if you ever take his class). Adamson was a bomb teacher that cares about your wellbeing and your success. He is 100% there to help.
Great teacher!
Professor Adamson is an amazing professor and really cares about you and your grades. He makes the class enjoyable and fun to where students love showing up and learning from him. We have fun in class and become really close throughout the semester. I really recommend taking his class because he will make the class a place you want to come back to.
He was very helpful anytime you needed it he is there. He is a very picky grader, but he makes you understand what your learning rather than just solving. Be prepared to be frustrated on some topics. He will guide you through them.
I'm not a math person. And if you aren't either than Mr. Adamson is the guy for you. His class is really easy and opens your mind to things you would have never thought about in math. Just show up to class and you'll pass. Oh and since the class is only a 5 week period you are graded on like 9 assignments just do the work and your good.
Scott Adamson was a very good math teacher. the math i took was super easy and he made it fun even though math is hard to be that way. there are reading assignments every week with the textbook, but besides that he is a great teacher.
Dr. Adamson is very funny. He loves to teach math. He creates bonds with his students unlike other instructors. He is very helpful in office hours. He wants to develop understanding as well as computational skills. This is a man who knows what he's doing.
Mr. Adamson is the best math teacher I've had period. He's literally opened my eyes to so many things I've never even thought about with math. His teaching technique is to make the student understand the steps visually and mentally behind why we do a math problem the way we do it. He's probably the first math teach that I've had that I've enjoyed.
He is amazing. By far the best math teacher I have ever had. He really challenges you to think and figure things out but he helps you make sense of things and actually understand. I hope everyone gets a chance to take him.
So far my favorite teacher he makes everything so understanding he connects with his students makes sure you fully understand takes his time to explain everything If you need help he helps right away!
Genuinely cares about the success of his student. Teaches in a very easy to understand manor. I wish he could teach all my future math classes. its been the first time i enjoy doing math
He is a great teacher. He helps you understand the real meaning behind the mathematics!
Hes an awesome professor, super understanding if you just talk to him. You can really tell he wants everyone to succeed in his class. Hes always willing to help.
Has you do a ton of group work, including quizes and big out of class group projects. Has you and your group present how you solved your problem to the class. Super easy grader. Accepts test corrections. Nearly all quiz questions are word for word from the homework. Extremely energetic/motivated. Overall one of the best math teachers I've ever had.
Awesome professor. Really explains stuff making the "hard stuff" easy. Comes down to the level of the student to explain things and is good at answering questions fully. Enjoyed his lectures. He makes math fun. Must put some effort into this class to get an A. Fair grader, motivational, and willing to change grade if shown that there is an error.
Adamson is honestly great. I took Calc III the summer between senior year (hs) and freshman year (ASU). He is a very energetic personality and explains things really well. His analogies can be a bit weird, but his class is memorable to say the least. He's been at CGCC teaching for more years than I know. Quality guy.
AMAZING teacher! He even teaches teachers! Horrible at math all my life and I could actually learn and understand. You can tell he's passionate about his job, the class is fun and he makes dad jokes along with inside jokes for the class about triangular boxes and handwriting. Just beware 3 group projects and HW counts for extra points on exams!
I recommend this professor bc he explains it well better than a textbook or anyone
Greatest teacher I have EVER HAD!!!!!
One of the best calc teachers I've had. Clear, concise, resourceful, and provides great and quick feedback. Best option for taking a calc class.
I loved Professor Adamson! Best Math Professor ever. Makes the challenges easier with his teaching methods. Always open to help out and provide help in every way he can. 4 group assignments and 4 exams. Homework is easy its from the textbook so do it and get a 100. The exams are tough but hes testing what you learned. Study and youll do well!
Worst professor I've ever had. He changed the format of his class this semester and gave us Youtube vids to watch of other professors, when I could have easily taken the class with those professors instead. Exams were nothing like the lectures. Beyond difficult exams. VERY picky grader. Take any other professor than Adamson. This dude is just lazy.
Professor Adamson is a great teacher. I had him for both Calculus 2 and 3 and I was very glad to take him. The class is pretty tough, but he does a good job at teaching the subject and always gives good feedback to answer any questions in a timely manner.
(I took his condensed summer course) Dr. Adamson is awesome! He's dedicated and he really focuses on getting the concepts down rather than brute memorization. I even found it easier than Calc I, but you also have to put in an equal amount of work. It's by no means an easy class, but he was always quick and thorough at answering any questions.
I loved this prof!! He was so fun and DEFINITELY valued the student's learning. He promoted both students & student-teacher connections and provided helpful feedback on almost every assignment. I found the lectures he included to always be good, and the online class very easy to navigate. Wanted his students to feel comfortable. Such a gem!!!!
He is a great Professor, and it will make you work hard to earn a good grade. He gives four exams and many quizzes, jamboard, textbook assignments. The exams are not easy by any means. He is super helpful and provides excellent feedback on any project. He is beyond incredible, Professor.
This guy single-handedly revived my faith in my ability to do calculus. He obviously cares a LOT about what he does and is by far the greatest teacher that I have ever gotten the pleasure of learning from.
Adamson is a great professor. Learning tasks and tests relate directly to the lectures and exams. Expect to dedicate a lot of time to this class but if you do all the work, you can get an A. He will make a video walkthrough to any question you have if it's not already available.
I read the reviews before taking this class and i was excited but now that i have taken it im not too sure. I think he has changed his teaching style from the previous semesters. All he does is have us stand at the board the ENTIRE class working on problems. I dont mind working on the bored but i prefer to be taught something first.
He is one of my favorite professors I've had. He makes the material accessible, fun, and engaging. Time flies by really fast for his class, and if you miss class, the videos he makes are really helpful. He also gives great feedback and is pretty lenient on exams, letting you use calculator apps, a notes sheet, and listen to music during the final.
He's the greatest teacher I've ever had. Awesome lectures, he actually gets you up on the whiteboards and working to figure things out. Where most teachers will lecture on a subject, he keeps that to a minimum, although his recorded vids are always there as an aid out of class.Instead, you are working the problem out with your peers, learning more.
Very overhyped. The learning style is cool, but ultimately did not work so well for me. It is somewhat excessive how we are always working on problems in groups. Would recommend taking this class in the summer or so when you have time to focus on it and nothing else.
Amazing teacher!! His way of teaching is definitely different from other teachers. Every single day we would get out of our seat and do problems around the room. For the most part, that way of teaching wasn't too bad, but he would never have structured notes. You just write whatever you need. Overall was pretty good and a super nice and funny guy.
If you are not one of his favorite students then his class will suck for you, hes a picky grader, provides vague or very little feedback, and just generally make your experience really bad.
BEST TEACHER EVER. I can 100% guarantee you won't be disappointed if you see this comment. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had and does not grade hard. His workload can be a lot every once in a while, which is doable.
Professor Adamson has restored my hope on my calculus abilities. He gives great feedback and cares for his students. He's passionate and energetic when teaching. It is a test heavy class, but You will be successful on them when you participate well during class and take the time to understand homework on discussion boards.
The course was thrilling for most of the part when he made class assignments with contexts that were hilarious and mathematically used them to know our learning about calculus and what it does daily. The professor is funny and very caring if any issues are going on outside of class; he will make arrangements to help you more throughout the course.
I did not prefer this teaching style. Some of the ways he taught things were confusing, and I had to go and look it up on Youtube or something to get a clear grasp on it. I came to expect that he will not help or give good feedback when you ask for it. Expect exams to be more difficult than what you do in class.
Professor Adamson is so insanely good at teaching math, that I hope he's available for all my future math courses. It took me a class or two to warm up to his teaching style but it all paid off, you just have to trust the process. His class works you towards new concepts based on previous knowledge. Awesome teaching style.
Professor Adamson's teaching style takes some getting used to, but it really helps reinforce the material. The whiteboard activities and video lectures are super helpful. Unstuckstudy and the textbook make a great study combo.
OUTSTANDING; I've taken his courses from Calculus 1 up to Diff EQ (I wish he taught at ASU). He is genuinely the best professor I've had, and an all-around fun guy to be around. You won't sit in class; you will be actively going over the material in class, and with his style of teaching, it will help you learn and understand it. He deserves awards.
I took this prof from calc1-diffEq. Loved him! This class is very group oriented, not standard sit and take notes. Participation is part of his teaching style. It will take a while to get used to but be patient. I learned so much from him. He is funny and engaging, I was never bored. He is extremely thorough and expects that from students as well.
