I wonder if this guy ever had a statistics course...does not seem so
He is not one of the easiest teachers, but he is very helpful if approached. In fact, as long as he knows that a student cares, he will take all the time a student needs to explain things over and over.
this guy is a computer nerd if you have time to syudy at the cod labs take him if you don't have time to study math on campus kiss you good grade good bye. I did not like his teaching style because I only had time to study at home.
He's a Power point kinda guy. Take him if you like that.
The worst professor in my career at COD. Never explains a damn thing. Doesn't have the art of conveying knowledge to his students. An absolute power point kind of guy !! Not recommended at all!!!. Find a better guy if you can to teach this course.

Excellent teacher, but please don't take the class unless you have the time to invest in learning, otherwise you will regret it and get a W or a BAD grade. Very interesting class though.
He sucks!!!!! he doesn't care to help you when you are stuck. his tests were hard and he doesn't teach anything. the worst teacher at COD.
if you like typing take him, if not then don`t
The worse teacher ever
he is a nice guy, but his teaching sucks. he tries to make math fun but ends up making it boring. he does everything on powerpoint which sucks. is you are little slow with computers then i would not suggest you to take his class.
if u want 2 get good grade.never take him
really nice, quiet but cool
This guy sucks! He is the worst ever. I only has 30 kids in the class at the start and now there is only 5 people. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY FOR MATH!
he sucks.not recomended 4 pharmacy students
Mr Albert is a good stats teacher. People complain that he is boring, but when is math not? I would highly recommend him for stats, as it is all computer based...and half-way through the quarter he lets use use notes for the tests! He is the only one I know that teaches Stats strictly by computer
He walked in the room the first day and I thought he was richard Dreyfuss. The class is boring, not too hard if you pay attention though. His dry sense of humor is hilarious if you can laugh at silly things. not a bad class.
very very very hard teacher, stay on top of things or you'll be in trouble. Very hard tests too, he would give us problems and make us write programs to solve them, the twist was some of the problems were totally unlike anything we went over in class, you had to basically figure it out as you went.
he was great he gave little quizes here and there to bring your grade up and the projects he gave were not bad at all
very good and thorough for the adult learner
Very hard teacher. I wouldn't recommend him.
well....let me just tell u....he does not open the book even ONCE. he hasnt used the math book he gave us all semester. he bases his teaching skills off of whats in his head. when he teaches you problems, he skips a lot of steps so you get confused. so...overall ... no thanks. if you want a challenge, be my guest and take him
I would not recommend this teacher, he never opens the book and does not go by it. His test are impossible. He does not explain very well skips a lot steps and expects you to know things only he knows. i would not recommend him. take your chances
He expects you to do an unreasonable amount of work for his internet course and his tests are very hard. Avoid taking his course!
I highly recommend Scott over any other prof for stats. Most instructors teach stats using books and writing out problems by hand. Scott teaches it all on computer in the lab which makes it much easier. I took the old fashion stats at COD first and got a D...then retook it with Scott and scored a high B.
This is one of the worst teachers to take, too bad he's the only one that teaches this course
All i can say is wow, hardest class i've ever taken at cod by far, you'll definetly know your c++ after your finished. Out of 25 or so original students there were 6 of us that finished. There's no prerequisite but if you don't have any experience be prepared to spend lots of time and frustration. You have to be very dedicated to make it through.
Every morning he starts the class by saying "any questions" Already knowing everone in the damn class has a question. But when you ask him somthing he degrates you like your stupid and you did not do the required work. He awalys grades hard on the tests. If you make a simple error he will mark you down the board say. the answer to this teacher isshi
Professor Albert is a great professor, considering what he is teaching. It is a difficult class, but Albert tries to make it fun with jokes. He let our class use our notes on the final, and I ended up getting an "A." College is about work, and if you can't do it, then learn how to flip some burgers.
Wow... math was always easy for me until this class. He goes very fast, and has a high expectation bar. Will answer any question, but quizzes are hard. Definetly have to go to every class of his, and do the book problems for your own benefit. Dry hunor. Wished he better prepared us for his tests. only recommend him if your very strong w/alegebra
So far I thought he's been a very fair teacher, he trys his best to make a rather boring subject interesting.I'll admit the quizzes are hard, but it's a hard subject. Overall I'd take a class with him again
i loved mr. albert. i took him my first year at cod and i loved his class. im usually bad at math but for some reason i did well in his class. once youve been with him for a while he warms up and tries to crack jokes. very good teacher!!!
Not exactly very good. Really hard to say about this guy. I went to every class, and honestly, I still cant say I thought he was a decent guy. nice, and lots of jokes. Goes way too fast (WATCH OUT!). We had a class of 30 at start, and at the end only 13 final students. Says something right for Bus. Calc?
He knows what he is talking about. But if you dont know what you're doing, you have to ask alot of questions to understand. He doesnt assign homework. You are graded on quizzes and tests.
His class is hard. I should say that attendance is mandatory because if you miss a class, you will sink. He doesn't use the book or assign homework, which is great, but the tests are hard and the quizzes are numerous. If you don't have to get an A, you will probably be fine. Class average was 71% at the end.
I don't know how anyone had any problem with the class, aside from if they completely blew off paying any attention while he was teaching. We did countless practice problems to drill concepts and problem solving methods, after each one he asks the same question: "are there any questions?" If you have a question, you should ask. It will help!
I'm in the online statistics class right now. DONT TAKE IT!!! especially if you're not good at math, like me. Everything is due on saturdays, but one assignment will take me from 3-6 hours to finish. There are 3 PROJECTS, quizzes every other week, and crazy hard tests. He expects way too much work for an online class and it sucks. Very hard grader!
IDK Y THE PPL BEFORE SAID HE WAS A GOOD TEACHER...LETS JST SAY...WRONG!!!!!!! HE DONT EXPLAIN A THING THROUGHLY...ALL THE CLASS IN DONE IN A COMPUTER LAB WERE HE TELLS YOU WHAT TO INPUT INTO THE NOTE AND DOES NOT TELL YOU WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT MEANS, NOTHING....SO BOTTOM LINE DONT TAKE HIM HORRIBLE TEACHER...
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!...MORE THEN HALF OF THE CLASS IS LOST AND ONCE YOU ASK FOR HELP HE WILL SAY...BRING YOUR RESOURCES TOGETHER, READ THE BOOK, INSTEAD OF DOING THE JOB WHICH IS MAKE THINGS CLEAR FOR YOU...SO BASICALLY ITS A CLASS WITH AN INTRUCTOR BUT WHEN TAKEN IT BECOMES AN INDEPENDENT STUDY SINCE HE'S TOO LAZY TO DO WHAT HE'S SUPPOSE TO DO...
The class is based only on computers. The teacher just sits in the front of the class and types his notes and expects us to understand what is being taught. When there is a question there is not much explaination afterwords. I learned nothing from this class other than not to take it again.
He's a good teacher, if you have questions during class always ask, he will answer the questions. Everything is on the computer which is nice, no hand writing. He does his job and it's done well
He is a decent teacher. Just make sure you attend class regularly. I only missed 2 days the whole semester and I got behind and didn't understand some of the materials. He is funny and make sure you ask questions when you don't understand something. he goes very fast. i don't why a lot of students dropped his class
Horrid!! In 1220 he doesnt use the book AT ALL. He "mirrors" stuff, but doesnt teach. The book explains stuff. First week it seems easy as pie. DONT BE FOOLED!! YES MathCAD solves stuff but don't expect him to help you outside of the notes you can use on exams and are barely helpful. I dropped it and am taking it via the CIL. MUCH easier projects.
Wow tha worst professor ever in life.
I took this class online. HORRID! When I asked him questions he responded with one word answers that were useless. He gave so much work. I studied about 8 hours a day. I'm usually an A student but because of the crazy final, he went out of his way to make sure I got a C (.21) points away from a B. Unless if you like pain, do not take him!
dont even think of taking this prof in ur dreams. worst of all . i wasted my 300 bucks taking his claSS. u wont understand a single word in his class. he teaches for the sake of teaching . dont even care about students. he is totally ridiculous. thats all i can say.
He can't teach, the stuff he does in class is very loosely related to the book, and the programs and labs he expects you to write have to be flawless to get even a C. His quizzes require full programs to be written on a piece of paper, and he nit picks as much points off as he can. Wait till you transfer to take this class. AVOID if new to C++.
Ew why did I take this class?!?Oh, why?? He is a nice guy when taken out of his environment. I'm a psych major and realized right away he didn't even introduce himself in the beg. of the semester.Lacks personality when teaching. Boring class, learned nothing! All about computers, no book, just so hard and not understandable. Boo.
Don't take C++ if you are new to it. He won't help at all. He expects the class to already know the basics if programming. His lectures are boring, mostly you wouldn't understand a word he says. But personally he night be a good person.
He deserves all zeros. I'm all for computer-based learning, but the dude doesn't get his message across. Given, he spends half the class explaining how to use shortcuts, but still. F-
Albert has no passion for teaching. He sounds like a book on tape.Everything is on done on the computer so beware if you cannot type quickly. He will show u 6 different ways to solve a problem:find one that works for u and stick with it MATHCAD is better than MINITAB trust me.Ask plenty of questions and get his office number. It's the ONLY way 2 learn
Very good professor. Statistics can be a very boring course to take, but Albert attempts to lighten the mood of the class, including a little bit of humor throughout the lectures. Don't expect to have fun in this class, but if you have to take Statistics, take it from him.
Scott is a nice guy, but he is a poor teacher. his classes consist of typing what he types on the board without an explanation of the mechanics behind your code. the book is little more help. if you are transferring take at UNI not COD. will help if he can see your trying. 14+ hours of work a week for a 3 hour class is not an acceptable amount.
Took him online and I do not recommend him. If you get a question wrong, he says it wrong but does not tell you what is wrong or give you the right answer to try and fix it. If you do a project there may be 3 different spots to make sure you found all the requirements in the project. Also, does not post answers when hw is complete to check other
Honestly, he was one of the worst teachers I've had in my entire school life. I've always excelled in math--even after taking some college-level classes at COD, but his teaching style is TERRIBLE! He gives you a weekly quiz on the material you JUST covered and those quizzes count for 20% of your grade. The rest is all tests. Don't take his class!
Personality: great. Teaching: ...not so much. Not trying to bash him but unless you have a good background in c++ I wouldn't recommend taking him. Tests and quizzes are very difficult. He was nice enough to throw us some extra points our way to keep some of us from having to drop or fail the class toward the end of the semester.
He is a good teacher. If you go to class and take notes you will do fine in the class. These lower math classes are not that hard you just have to study for quiz's and test's. No extra credit or homework.
HE GAVE ME SO MANY A+ I LEARNED SO HARD
Good teacher. He doesn't take attendance, but you need to show up for class, because the book is pretty bad and his explanations help a lot. If you do the problems for each chapter and attend you should be fine.
This was an internet course so not alot of interaction but he responded to email inquiries within 2 hours and graded HW and quizzes within two days. Good on line tutorials and lab notes. Overall, provided quick feedback and good course material for an internet class.
I just finished this course... and did not pass... I'm an excellent A student & this teacher is AWFUL! Do NOT take this course with him. It's impossible for a basic stats class. I mean I had 300 to 400 level classes that were easier than that! He grades on what's correct, not effort. I'd spend HOURS and get awful grades and the tests are impossible
I've taken both 1533 and 1635 on line. I love math it's my major and these are the first math classes I have to try in. He is a very hard grader, my answer to one question rounded wrong to the hundredths and I received a 50% on it. He doesn't explain how he wants it done and then marks you down. Tests, quizzes and Projects are very hard.
Completely unhelpful. Asked for help on numerous occasions and it was ridiculous on how he responded. One of the worse teachers I've ever had. It was like pulling teeth trying to get him to do his job.
Really struggles to explain basic statistics concepts. He offers no valuable practice work, and the problems in the book do not math the format of the problems on the quizzes and tests.
Highly dissatisfied, just dropped course. Professor does not teach, he only uploads powerpoint slides published by the authors of the book. Professor does not respond well to emails, you are lucky if an explanation is longer than 3 sentences. Professor shows little concern to help students understand confusing topics. DO NOT TAKE!
He's a pretty cool dude. He was helpful, and had a wonderful personality, would recommend
Waste of money to purchase a textbook, was never used. hes the kind of teacher who expects you to understand the things hes teaching even though he doesn't explain them very well. so if u ask a question, be prepared to feel like an idiot. everything is on the computer so the program takes some getting used to. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THIS CLASS
It's a class where you teach yourself. He does not explain anything and is unhelpful even if you ask questions. MATHCAD is garbage because he does not teach you WHY you use the codes, he just says do it. He sits at a desk and types up the notes without explanations. Textbook was never used and unhelpful (not the same formatting as teacher).
He could not teach you statistics if his life depended on it. Your future depends on choosing a good/mediocre professor and albert falls well below this line, almost to the level of a student. He may understand the concepts, but he has absolutely no way of relating these ideas to the students.
I've always been pretty good at math and I'm also a hard worker. I thought I would do fine taking my first online math. Grading: hw, quizzes, projects(watch out!), tests. Tests are challenging but the projects are just insane. He wants you to do a book report on a math scenario/problem. This isnt english class! I ended up dropping
Horrendous teacher. Extremely hard merciless grader, incredibly lazy. Responds to emails with unhelpful snippets of poor grammar/spelling/punctuation with no useful details. Tests are very hard. Project instructions are vague. His "lectures" are merely ppt slides from the textbook. Expect to teach yourself and get punished for the tiniest mistakes.
Took the online class. First disclaimer - it's an online class, you learn on your own. I barely had any contact with the teacher, this was on my end. He did adjust test scores where it was marked wrong because of rounding or not using proper answer format. This is a hard class, so don't expect to breeze through it. Everything is in MyMathLab.
This is an online course that is run on MyMathLab. If you are a responsible and resourceful person you will have no issue with the format. Lots of homework(20%) and quizzes(20%) and 2 tests(60%). I never once contacted the teacher for anything, but he is irrelevant to the online course. It is completely dependent on you. Everything is crystal clear
I took two math courses in one semester. Both by him. This one & Calc. This one is pretty easy, tests weren't bad - though everything is timed, no second attempts. However, in Calc. was aweful! Hardest tests, tons of hw, tons of practice work. I would recommend him for this class specifically, but not as a teacher to take in general.
This class was brutal! It was a TON of work! Everything had time limits that weren't a lot of time. The hw was constant. No second attempts on anything. Deadlines were FINAL. had to complete extra pratice work that was not extra credit. Tests are at the COD test center. I would prepare to dedicate a lot of time if taking him for the course.
Professor Albert is a very nice teacher. He will answer any questions you have about the material and he asks if everyone understands each concept as he lectures. The syllabus for the class is very clear on grading and dates, there are no surprises. If you pay attention during lectures and do the practice problems you will do fine.
I'm not done with the class, but he does not teach too well. He does not explain what he is doing if someone doesn't ask, which someone has to do about every 5 minutes. Tests are a lot to remember because everything is similar to each other, but you only go over it once, so study a lot. He is a nice guy but as a teacher I've had better.
I greatly enjoyed this class. I didn't care much for any math prior to the class, but his teaching really pulled me into the material and I love math now. He is very old, tells terrible jokes, and has no tolerance for class disruptions. However, he grades things fast, he offers helpful feedback if you seek it, and is always consistent.
Took his finite math class online, very difficult. He makes you go to COD to take the exams and you can only use a calculator and excel for the exam, no formula cards or anything, so make sure you know the material.
The teacher is awesome. I received excellent feedback and the tests were easy. If you study just a bit, an A is feasible.
I took his statistics class spring 2015... At first I thought I'd be ok and get an A per usual in my math classes, but little did I know that the whole class is on the computer. This was the down fall in his class. I'm pretty ok with math if its written, but the whole class was all on the computer. I wish in the course description said that.
I took this teacher for finite math online. I've always been good at math but this class was difficult because it was online and when we took the tests on campus we could only use excel and a calculator. I would spend hours on the tests and still get an awful grade because I couldn't memorize all the formulas. He doesn't offer any extra credit.
I took calculus online and it has to be the hardest class I have ever taken! if you are not good with math I don't recommend taking it online. You have to go to COD and take the exams there, which is so inconvenient since you are only allowed to use a calculator and need to memorize all the formulas, other than that the professor is helpful sort of
This was the hardest class I have ever taken, and the only one I've ever failed in my life, your homework and quizzes are basically not worth much towards your final grade, you have to pass the exams you have to take in the testing center and are only allowed to use a calculator, you must learn all formulas and final exam is accumulative.
Hard class, you pretty much have to teach yourself.
All stats are done solely through 2 math programs... learn how to use them because if your good with them the class is way easier. A is possible if the work is put in. Also didn't use the textbook once.
Lectures sufficiently covered the material so that I never even need to buy the textbook. He did his best to explain concepts in a different way if someone wasn't understanding them. All work was done on two computer programs. He is sometimes funny but not because he's actually funny, instead because he tries too hard to be funny.

He was a good prof, the class was just difficult. Hes not as bad as his reviews say. If you actually do your work & study you can get an A. He makes lame math jokes a lot but hes still funny. Didn't use the book much but you need to go to his lectures. Asked him questions a few times & he explained them to me in a way that I understood. Fair grader
I'm not sure were to start with him. He's a good guy but when it comes to teaching he gets lost. Professor Albert is unclear and he really doesn't not care much for his students. I asked a question in class about the test and he just laughed. He's extremely boring and does not give out homework grades to help bring up your grade. DoNotTa
This class was a struggle for me. It was done using two computer programs which made it really difficult for me to do practice problems because I didn't have the programs. I would recommend going to the computer lab to do practice problems weekly if you want an A/B. He also never posted his office hours, so it was a little difficult to get help.
If you are considering taking an online course with him, please don't. Very confusing, no help, and doesn't prepare you for his tests. Be warned!
You are expected to have a basic understanding of math when you come to this class. Do not expect to be babied and start from scratch. All of the material builds off of what you learned in high school. You will cover two sections each class and have a quiz every other week. There are four exams as well. Pay attention and take good notes.
I took this professor this semester, spring 2016 online and honestly I thought it was going to be a challenge but professor albert made it tolerable. You have to keep up with it and have to be ahead or you won't have enough time. He gives back points for tests. Make sure you study for the tests because they are extremely hard, but he helps you.
DO NOT TAKE. Hardest class Ive ever taken. The ONLY thing you're graded on is tests and exams. Theres not a lot either. He will explain how to do a problem then do an example and move on to something completely new. Once it comes time for the tests there is no review on what you learned a week ago. Also no HW is assigned so if you have him make HW
one of the hardest classes I've ever had to take. Not because of the content but because of the teacher. He barley teaches the class and MAKES MISTAKES! grades are only based on tests and quizzes. So good luck. No homework but you'd wish you had it. Only study his notes
Absolutely ridiculous. Don't make the mistake I did. Always had A's in math and now I'm struggling to keep a C. He rushes through an example and explains nothing unless someone speaks up. And even then he makes you feel stupid for asking. Not to mention the homework which he does not explain at all.
I took online stats and it is difficult but doable. You will have to teach yourself from the textbook, which I find to be very boring but I did'y have the option to take this class in person. If you are not great at math I would highly recommend to take statistics in person. If you are strong in math and have a good work ethic you can make it work.
Shows how to do examples for specific problems but does not tell you how or why you are using such methods. Tests are very hard and lecture style is VERY confusing. When you ask a question do not expect it to be answered, expect to feel stupid for not knowing.
He doesn't bother to respond to emails in a timely manner and instead of offering help when asked, he directs us to the math assistance area. He doesn't have office hours, and grading is ridiculous. I'm not bad at math but I've exhausted all resources on this class and still doing pretty poorly. Save yourself the stress, take someone else.
This was the single most difficult class I have ever taken. There were only two exams and they were worth 70% of the grade for the class. He rarely responded to emails and when he did it was not timely. The only reason he got a rating of 1 was because the site won't let me select 0. Seriously, don't waste your time or money. Pick someone else.
Took this online over the summer. Two tests were worth 70% of the grade. Quizzes and homework were worth 15% each. Gives a curve after the tests. I don't recommend taking stats online over the summer, as the timeframe felt much tighter than other classes.
Didn't really have to contact the professor for any help. Curves were given after each test. Just watch the videos for the chapters, do the homework, and then do the homework again before the tests to remind yourself of the formulas, etc.
I took Professor Albert for Spring 18 on campus after trying it online. If you pay attention and participate in his class. You WILL pass. We used two programs which made things so much easier than online. If you ask questions he explains well. he has a sense of humor and he CARES about his students. Just practice everything and you pass. Take HIM!
The whole course is run through the Pearson online book. HE DOESN'T DO A THING. Its unclear what the quiz or homework assignment covers. You have to go through the book and teach yourself what everything is and how to plug it into your calculator. Im so glad this class is over and I look forward to never to never taking it again!!
Worst class I have ever taken. Homework and quizzes are worth 15% each. There was only one exam and the final and they were both worth 35%. Albert is very short with email responses and when you ask for help you're directed to Math Assistance. The course in run through WebAssign which is single-handedly the worst platform ever. I don't recommend
This was the most difficult class I have ever taken
There is not guidance in this class. You read the text book and then do your homework and take tests. There is not teacher feedback whatsoever for homework or tests. Do not take this class if you are not strong in math.
There is no help in this online class. I don't know why he bothers taking on an online class if he is just going to ignore it. You are pretty much teaching yourself and if you need help you have to find it yourself.
Online Stats class was 100% learn by yourself. I never heard from the teacher. Everything is through Pearson. Tests are proctored and take over 2 hours, sometimes 3. Good parts are that the (3) tests really did mirror the homework and quizzes, the tests are not timed so you can go slow and careful without feeling the clock. 3 tests 75% of grade.
How can COD have students pay 700 dollars for a course, not including books and online access code, only for a do it yourself experience. Scot Albert has no teacher to student interaction and it is crazy that COD accepts it.
Very bad professor. He thought I was cheating so he would stand next to me during all the quizzes and exams watching my calculator gave me huge anxiety.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! I've never had a more off-hands professor EVER. Literally gives you assignments and the pages to read. Homework doesn't give you ANY hints so unless you have Chegg you're screwed. Don't expect an e-mail response within 24 hours. Helpful hint: quizzes are literally homework questions just different numbers.
I took this online class through COD and had Mr. Albert as my professor. I would highly discourage anyone looking into taking this class. He is an unnecessarily hard grader, unresponsive, unhelpful, and the university offers no resources to help. The videos provided for each problem usually don't even pertain to what you need to do for the problem.
Professor Scott does not provide any help or any compassion to his students. The two tests provided are difficult and are not organized in sections. The fact test are not organized in sections causes a lot of confusion on which chapter you are being tested on. The homework and quizzes are not worth much. Your grade is based on tests only.
He was the worst teacher I ever had. I would not recommend him .
