Financial Accounting is a difficult class, no amazing professor is going to do much to make the material easier. However, Anderson made it his mission to make the material and the class as hard as he could. Calls on people randomly in class and puts them on the spot to answer terminology and problems. avoid or find a math savvy buddy.
This is a great professor! He does call on you on the spot but if you don't know it he just goes on to the next person. If the class tells him were going to fast or to slow he will do what the class needs. He explains each chapter from the bottom and doesn't expect you to know anything coming into the class. Which was helpful. Take him!
I thought he was a jerk in the beginning. So glad I didn't drop the class. He ended up being one of my favorite teachers. Nicest guy!
I thought he was a great professor. The Rhodes project was difficult and time consuming and his tests was hard as well. He calls on people randomly to say definitions for accounting terms. Great person to talk to and had an emphasis of teaching material useful in the workplace. He has a curve where you can have an A points wise but get a B
Comes off as a jerk, but is willing to help his students if you're willing to put in the effort. Its definitely helpful to have the book as a point of clarifying information. His tests are long and you have to memorize a large number of terms, but they aren't very difficult if you keep up with it throughout the semester.
This is one of the most useful classes I have taken at Chapman. He emphasizes "real-life" situations and teaches material that you will continue to use throughout your business courses. His teaching style depends on class participation so be prepared to be called on in class and speak up if you don't understand something - he WILL explain more!
This guy has a great amount of knowledge on this subject. He is very realistic, interesting and a very good teacher. Do the homework, show up to class, and it won't be difficult getting a good grade.
By far the worst professor I have ever taken. Extremely unhelpful and demands way too much of his students. Tests are obscenely long and difficult. Includes concepts from FIN-317 which he has no business doing. Also want to add that the class is essentially a "teach yourself" course. He doesn't explain anything & then expects you to understand it.
Takes attendance and will call on you. Homework due everyday, and tests are fair. Content is inherently dry, so class was sometimes slow. Uses lots of real world examples. Willing to work with you outside of class, just ask. Also willing to go over problems in class, just ask. Expects a lot, but I learned a lot in class. Worth it. Take him.
This is a hard class no doubt but he is a great teacher all around. He really wants you to excel in class and definitely beyond the class. He encourages hard work and doesn't punish for mistakes. Extremely knowledgeable in the subject and wants to share that knowledge. Great overall!
Professor Anderson is an extremely informative and helpful teacher. You could definitely see that he cares about his students and wants everyone in his class to succeed. The tests are very long so manage your time wisely. But there are no surprises on them so just show up to class, do your work, and study and you'll be fine.
Wonderful professor. His class requires work- as almost every class does. His tests are the same level of difficulty as the class work- no surprises! If you are willing to at the very least show up to class, take notes, pay attention, and actually study- you will be fine in class and most importantly- you will learn a lot.

Professor A is one of my all-time favorite professors! His class is NOT a walk in the park, but I guarantee that you will learn the course material and finish the semester feeling smarter. At first he's a bit quiet but he's got a great sense of humor and is more than willing to explain concepts that you're struggling with. Take him if you can!!!
Most awful and unhelpful professor at Chapman. Not only is he condescending, he doesn't know how a grading curve works. The "optional" book report is, in fact, NOT optional at all. It's calculated into the points that make up your entire grade. Which he didn't tell anyone about. He cold calls on people on the spot in class too.
*took class over summer fyi* Class was awesome and small. If he knows ur name ur good. Its all about definitions cuz thats all he calls on u for. Awesome guy.
I really liked him as a professor, but it's all about your style of learning. There is a lot of textbook work and he will randomly call on people in class to answer questions-meaning you need to come to class prepared. If you have questions he has no problem answering. A lot of his tests are definitions, but he tells you what's on the test
This is an awesome professor. The class is hard, but at this point you are an upper level accounting student and should be expecting it. I learned more in this class than I ever have before and the professor was a pivotal reason for it. He has no issue discussing a topic for the whole period so his class understands. He truly wants you to succeed.

Best accounting professor I have had at Chapman! Great class, keeps it engaging with current accounting news. You will learn a lot if you put in the effort. Highly recommend any of Anderson's classes.
Be prepared to teach yourself from the book. No lecture or teaching happens during class.
Lots of participation and lots of reading the book. Not much lecturing going on. Personally did not like the style of teaching, but to each hisher own. Just BS the hw and dammit memorize that vocab packet way before class starts
Just read the book. Do the homework without teach you anything. And no lecture, always homework.
Yes, this class is a lot of work, so you have to be ready to work hard for that A. We had to read the book, do tons of homework, and memorize definitionsterms. My "A" was WORTH that studying! Accounting was the class that I was most afraid to take this semester, but it ended up being my favorite. Anderson also ended up being my favorite prof.!
If you show up & pay attention most of the time, attempt the homework and put in some effort, you will learn a lot! Anderson is a GREAT professor, if you actually try.
The class is very tough, but the professor makes it worth your while. If you work very hard and do what is assigned you will have learned many real life lessons from a man who has done it all. If you are interested in learning, not a grade, take this course.
He was an excellent professor. His tests are very long, but he tells you exactly what to expect and doesn't try to trick you. Memorize the vocabulary as soon as possible because you will be tested on it throughout the class. Go to class, ask questions if you have them, and try to learn the material. If you put in effort all along, you'll be fine.
Anderson is like a good old grandpa that does accounting work. His tests are long (you need to memorize lots of definitions, like 15 pages) and are around 20 pages, so expect a lot of intense writing in his class. Tests are hard but fair if you do the prep work. His personality is great! He cares a lot for his students and makes random funny jokes!
Great professor. Really helps you learn accounting fundamentals. HW every class and he tests you on the definitions.
Very difficult professor. Has you do a lot of stuff that seems pointless. Tests are difficult.
Prof. Anderson is the man. No bs, the guy knows his stuff and works hard to make sure the class is ahead of their peers upon completion. Work hard in this class and you will be rewarded. Life changing class and professor, I fully recommend taking the class if given the chance, once in a while kind of professor who cares.
One of the best professors I have had at Chapman University. He will prepare you for the business world. You will learn real life applications of accounting concepts that are applicable in all fields. Professor Anderson truly cares about his students and wants us to excel in our careers. Take him! You won't be disappointed.
I took 330 and 331 with Professor Anderson. I recently took the FAR section of the CPA and passed with a high score due to a lot of things in this class. It is an astoundingly hard class, but Professor Anderson does a good job guiding you through it and is effective enough to have lessons last into future years. Take him for whatever class you can.
He expects beginner students to already have stuff mastered, and he is very rude.
If you take Anderson for the first time, you're going to hate him in the beginning, as I did. But let me tell you, at the end of the course, I was absolutely grateful for the challenges he gave me. Anderson is by far, one of the hardest professors, but you will learn so much. SO MUCH! Just try your best and do not give up in his class.
Doesn't care about teaching or students actually learning but just expects students to memorize 20 page definition sheet. Will cold call on every student and ask random questions every class. If you don't know the answer he will not help or guide you in the right direction but stare at you and then will call on the next person.
he's hard only because he doesn't actually teach the material he's discouraging
Hardest class I've ever taken. We are expected to memorize vocabulary that isn't from the book, but from his own mind. He hardly uses the books, except for homework, but then the tests are not based off the book. I was confused every single day of that class and my grade sure reflected it. I am never taking an accounting class again.
Greatest professor I've taken at chapman. He prepares you for the real world and gives amazing life lessons. He gives a lot of homework but doesn't grade he just wants to make sure you attempted. He test are long but if you learn his vocabulary that will really help you.
Scott Anderson is by far one of the greatest and most caring professors I have ever had at Chapman. The first week of class he seems really tough, but it's only to weed out the people who aren't going to try hard. After that, he is so sweet, caring, and really funny! He cares that we actually learn the material. Take his class you won't regret it!!
If you're looking for an accounting class that you can breeze your way through, look elsewhere. Having said that, Anderson is a very caring professor and teaches a class that you will remember for the rest of your life. His tests are hard and force you to learn the material. The material he teaches involves REAL WORLD PROBLEMS.
Professor Anderson is by far my favorite accounting prof. and prof. at Chapman University. I have taken his course for 210, 211, and 320. His commitment to helping students truly understand accounting, and how concepts connect to the real world, is evident. Accounting courses all build on one another - his course ensures a solid foundation.
Professor Anderson is one of the best professors at Chapman University. He truly wants to see students succeed and does so through his lectures, availability to help, and course outline of material. Although his class can be challenging, it is worth every second of it. Don't run away from a challenge because that won't help you grow as a person.
Professor Anderson is an outstanding teacher at Chapman. His class prepares you for the real world and that is what makes it worthwhile. Don't run away from a challenging class because that is not how you will grow as a person and student. He is worth taking; clear in his expectations and always there for his students, professionally and personally
A tough, but very rewarding class. In order to get a good grade, you need to be ready to work hard and put a lot into the class. The tests are half definition and half problems. Memorize the definitions because knowing them will give you at least a passing grade on the test. Hard class, but I promise you'll walk out with a lot knowledge!
Professor Anderson is my favorite professor so far at Chapman, despite this class being one of the toughest classes I've taken. He makes you work for your grade, but is very clear in what he is looking for and gives you every opportunity to succeed. I would absolutely take his class again and would highly recommend him to anyone ready to learn.
Anderson's classes are tough for those who have not taken him before. However, after experiencing one with him I would gladly take him again. He teaches a lot about business in general and has good insight into what makes a successful student. I would definitely take Anderson's class again.
This is a challenging course that will prepare you for any career you pursue. The effort you put into the class determines what you will get out of it and your grade. Professor Anderson is good at relating the course concepts to their use outside the classroom. He fosters an environment for great academic growth and he is there to help his students
Anderson is a tough professor, but it comes from a good place. He's dedicated to making sure that he teaches what matters, and well. He quizzes the class verbally (allowing notes) and tests only on what he teaches. The tests are long, but the homework helps a lot with preparation, and the other assignments are good writing exercises for more points
I took Anderson for 210 which gave me a head start for 211, which he runs basically the same way. Anderson is a great professor who really cares if you understand the material, and who wants you to learn. His assignments are numerous but fair, and actually do matter towards the material he tests. Above all, I would describe him as fair and caring.
Professor Anderson is a great guy and truly cares about his students. Be sure to come to class prepared; he will call on you at least once each class to answer a question or give him a definition (learn all the definitions ASAP). This class is challenging, but if you put in the work you will see that you'll come out of it far ahead of your peers.
This was my second time taking professor Anderson for an accounting class. If you have taken him before, this should be no challenge at all. As long as you do all the homework and learn all the definitions, you'll be perfect. The only difference from 210 is a case-study project, but it's manageable. Great guy and a good contact to know.
Professor Anderson is definitely one of the hardest professors at Chapman, but he is absolutely one of the best. His class can be hell at some points, but it all pays off. I have never learned so much in a course before; his class prepared me for upper division business courses and taught me to be a better test taker.
Literally so lost the whole time. His class was so impossible I turned in a blank first midterm 10 min in and promptly withdrew. I suspect he actually is a good prof just not right for me
Here's an honest opinion about Scott. He is not a hard teacher. It is just a lot of material. He gives outlines on what will be on tests which is helpful, but you need to study what he gives you. Vocab is a crucial part of the class, study it. You have to write papers, not too bad. You learn a lot but need to put the work in. Make friends to study
Professor Anderson wants his students to see the bigger picture, to become better individuals, and if you show that you care and you dedicate yourself to understanding the course material beyond its face value, he will certainly reciprocate your energy. You would be a fool to take anyone else for accounting than Mr. Anderson.
Honestly, anderson is a great Professor if you are an ACCOUNTING MAJOR. He does really well w/ giving info, but for an intro to financial accounting class, you shouldnt be tested on things taught in a cost accounting class. Good Professor, only take if youre an accounting major
For an interterm class, be ready to commit to it as if it were your full time job - which is how the course is designed. Professor Anderson expects a lot but he also is priming his students to endure challenges in the real world. Be sure to get the definitions down and practice everything on your own time as well.
The hardest class I've taken at Chapman. Good Luck.
very experienced professor, one of the classes that i really learned stuff, not only knowledge for passing the class but also for life.
I do not recommend Prof Anderson. He knows his material well but does not know how to communicate it effectively. He's not a good teacher at all. If you want a good grade, prepare to neglect your other classes.
My advice: study the definition list BEFORE you start the class, read the book as you go along. Go to the SI sessions before tests, the tests are almost the same as the study guides the SI gives you. When he asks a question say an answer and say it affirmatively or else your participation grade goes down. Practice the definition list DAILY
Professor Anderson was one of the most impactful professors I have ever had. I had him for both Acct 210 and 211 and he really taught me well. I have to say that his class is very hard though and you have to really work for it if you want an A. But I think his class is worth it because he also teaches some really helpful personal finance tips
Anderson is one of my favorite professors at Chapman! Accounting is a difficult course, but its comforting knowing that he provides you with ALL the tools you need to succeed, as well as offers consistent support. This class is not meant for cupcakes, people who give up. But if you put in the work, it WILL pay off . Took both 210 & 211 from him!
Accounting is a different language but Anderson makes sure you are well equipped to succeed in his courses. I have had 2 courses with him but I wish I could take more! He may be a bit intimidating at first, but he really wants you to do well. If you work hard, you'll be fine. No one is just handed a grade in this course!! (and don't be a cupcake)
Anderson is one of my favorite teachers. He seems intimidating but, just work hard and study. This class is beneficial and rewarding. U WILL LEARN A LOT. My piece of advice for current students is to study and know the Definition List because not only is this crucial for the tests, but for the future. You will thank yourself for learning it ASAP.
Anderson throws in occasional jokes at times to lighten the mood(if you understand what you're learning.) He is very knowledgeable about finance/accounting and is willing to help whenever needed. "A fast email responder." The main negative would be he grades on class average and grade is unknown until the end. *Study the definitions/ratios list!
Professor Anderson seems scary and intimidating at first, but you will learn a lot and I would totally take this class again. There were many homework assignments(chegg) that SI would help you with. There's a book report (easy). Two easy Papers. No presentations. His 2 midterms and finals are HUGE, but memorize vocab and review problems word 4word.
Anderson is an amazing professor and he is very knowledgable in what he teaches. Often during class he goes over the attendance sheet and randomly picks people to ask them questions, either about the homework or about definitions. Although he is a bit intimidating at first, he is very caring and does his best to help you succeed in his class.
Anderson punishes his students through his 20+ page tests. He looks for the exact definitions he gives you pretty much word-for-word. He'll grade you off for minor mistakes, insult students who drop by calling them "cupcakes". Maybe he should investigate *why* they drop. Ineffective leader with excessive demands from his victims I mean students.
Scott Anderson cares about his students and sees the potential they have. At first, he may come across as intimidating, but do not worry he has a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart. His cold calling in class, lengthy homework assignments, and difficult tests are well worth it in the long run. Just put in the time and effort and you'll see.
He is a scary guy but I learned a lot in this class!! He calls on you every class but you get used to it bc everyone is just as confused as you are. Loved the class
Anderson is a tough one. He calls on people randomly every day during class and he likes his test answers (for both problems and vocab) to be EXACT. Despite how intimidating this is, he is very understanding so ASK HIM QUESTIONS if you have them. It was tough but I learned a lot about accounting. Also there is a book report, so be ready for that.
For 210/211. Professor Anderson has really tough exams and there is a good amount of work, but it's all worth it. He really cares about students and does his best to set you up for success academically and financially. If you engage with the material, put the work in, and show him you're invested in the class, you'll do just fine.
Professor Anderson is the best professor I have had at Chapman so far. He can seem intimidating at first, but if you do all the work he assigns, STUDY THE VOCAB, and pay attention in class you will be do great. He has so much accounting knowledge and will make concepts easier to understand. I highly recommend taking his class!!
A literal king. Yes he pushes you, but it is tough love. Yes I was scared to death every class, but I learned a lot. Scott!!
Professor Anderson is so caring! He genuinely wants you to succeed in this class and in the world. He tells you exactly what will be on the test, so there are no tricks. If you study vocab, do your homework, and pay attention in class you will get an A. Dont get scared off the first week!
I would highly recommend taking Professor Anderson. He cares about his students and works to explain the material so that everyone understands. His teaching style makes it very easy to absorb the material as we worked through examples for each problem type until it was well understood. He is also very clear about what will be on the tests.
Scott Anderson TRULY wants his students to learn and is an absolute gem. Anderson's class teaches you about the real world and he inspires you to take your education seriously. If you are willing to put in the effort, you will succeed and learn far more than you would taking any other professor. Do your homework, don't fall behind, pay attention.
Scotty is very passionate about accounting, and I appreciate the energy and humor her brings. Study your vocab and stay ahead on homework if you want to do well. The class is a challenge for sure, and if you took him for 210, def take him again. Keep your quizlet tabs open during class and use your SI! Dr. A appreciates student engagement, ask Q's!
I took Andersons class for both financial and managerial accounting. The class is not something you can get through without putting in effort, but you will learn so much. The exams are long, but he will tell you exactly what you need to know. Pay attention in class because he will call on you at random. And memorize the definitions!
Professor Anderson is the GOAT. He gives you EVERYTHING you need to prepare for the exam. It's up to YOU to STUDY HARD and PUT IN THE WORK!! He truly understands the material, has a tone of background, and prepares you for the real world. This is not an easy class so don't expect to breeze through it, YOU GOTTA WORK. He wants you to succeed!!!
An outstanding professor! Very challenging and often comes off as really intimidating at first, but well worth it. Heavy workload, but everything he has us do has a purpose, and if you follow, you will have a solid foundation. Great focus on learning for the future and not just the class. Very understanding and adaptive for online classes.
Anderson is tough but is extremely patient and eager to help his students (as long as you ask questions). Study the definitio/ratio list, do the practice problems, ATTEND THE SI SESSIONS and you'll be okay! Do not be afraid to say the wrong answer when he calls on you, he'll help you understand if you're confused but you have to do the work.
I took him two semesters in a row because I wanted the challenge. He teaches you discipline through learning the definitions and practicing the problems in every class. He's approachable! I was able to ask him personal questions, so he's a great resource! He definitely wants the best for his students so they are ready for the business world.
I took Anderson twice, because he is tough but you can tell he wants the best for his students and wants to help us be prepared for our futures. If you pay attention in class and study the material, you can definitely get a good grade!
Absolute legend
I went into this class with low expectations but Professor Anderson changed how I learned and viewed Accounting. It's not an easy class but I put in the work that he told us to and the outcome is definitely worth it. Professor Anderson makes sure you learn material and is so passionate about what he does, whether it's your major or not.
Anderson was amazing! I took one of his winter classes and he even offered to help us off campus before a big exam! Really explains everything well and doesn't do busy work.
You will need to learn the book. Not just read it. You will need to quote it word for word! Not sure why I need to take his class if I can just read the book myself. He doesn't teach, he tells stories.
worst professor I ever experienced at CU!!! just be an accountant, not a prof!
Most difficult class I have taken in my college career so far. Unbelievably long exams (35 pages), no feedback on prior exams, doesn't keep grades up to date.
He is an amazing teacher. He definitely makes you work for you grade, but as long as you do the homework and participate in class you will be fine. AND KNOW YOUR VOCABULARY!!
Take this class if you hate yourself
Tips to get an A GO TO THE SI SESSIONS pay attention & ask them questions. Same goes for Anderson, ask him to repeat things until you feel confident don't worry about taking up time. Know the Vocab it's usually a third of the exam Never answer his question with a question or nervously answer confidently even if you are wrong IDK is unacceptable. GL
THIS PROFESSOR SHOULD BE FIRED. The first day he told us I will teach you 10% you figure out the 90%. He said 50% of my students will get Cs and 3-4 hours of homework PER CLASS SESSION. Chapman is an AMAZING SCHOOL. For the amount of money I pay for this school, I should not get a teacher like this. DO NOT TAKE! I could go on and on.
Avoid At All Cost We had hours of homework that we had to do. He would made u turn in homework before he would teach the topic. His test are a minimum of 15-30 pages handwritten. He only gives A to 20 % of all 4 sessions, so everyone is against each other The homework is wordy & hard to understand He teaches more then others Definition heavy exam
Took 210 and 211 with him before the pandemic. If you're not good at test taking before this class, you will be after. The rigor prepares you for the rest of upperdivs in the business school. Ended up impressing a recruiter and landing an internship based on what I learned in his classes. Work hard and you'll get a lot out of these classes.
Absolutely hated this class. So so much, and he made it a lot harder. Would 100% recommend literally anybody else. He is old school and requires everything turned in on paper, and not helpful or caring towards struggling students. Retaking with another professor which messed up my class schedules.
Professor is kind of funny and has a good heart, but cares too much about accounting and makes tests significantly too long. Could not even finish them. Also be prepared to get called on every single class
TAKE HIM. it's a hard class and everyone will tell you not to, but it's so worth it. I learned so much from this class. he takes attendance but you can skip a couple times, there's a lot of homework but answers are online. really hard to get an A but honestly I'm not mad with by B because I feel really confident in my accounting skills after this
Worst teacher I have taken in college. Doesnt teach the material well at all, insane amounts of busy work, is rude to students in class, etc. All bad no good.
Took this class for interterm so it was expected to be lots of work but I was doing 6-8 hours of homework each night. He chooses people randomly in class and he's hard on you when you get an answer wrong/don't know. 3 exams, each around 20 pages, all writing. Almost ran out of time for all 3. He tells you exactly what to study for them though.
anderson the goat. took this class during interterm and it was not easy to say the least. Lots of homework but the homework questions are harder then test questions. Only graded by 3 exams so try and put the effort into reading the textbook and doing the homework correctly or you will fail.
DO NOT TAKE!!!! He is an incredibly difficult professor. belittles students and mocks students. Does not teach the lesson and expects you to complete the homework prior to class. His exams are also very long and very tedious. Doesn't give enough time for the exam. The final exam was roughly 28 pages long IN PENCIL. Must memorize 100+ terms and deff
Professor Anderson was a great professor. Accounting is difficult and takes a lot of work. Anderson outlines exactly what will be on the exam, and does not try to trick you. He gives lots of opportunities for extra help and work. If you put in the effort and ask for help, he will help you do well and get an A. Expects work, and will reward it.
Professor Anderson helped me understand accounting on a very deep level. I had no previous knowledge of accounting, but coming out of this course I learned so much and feel very confident in my accounting skills. The class is not easy, but if you put in the time and effort, it pays off and you come out extremely prepared. Would take again!
Very effective, makes you work for your grade. Graded on huge curve and homework graded on completion and takes like only 2-3hrs. You CANNOT "breeze" through the class, but getting an A isn't too difficult if you really shoot for it. Tbh his bad reviews are very exaggerated, students were still forgetting easy defs halfway in the course
Why is he still teaching?! You would learn more if you just take a online class and read the book a few times. That's what he is doing anyways: Read the book, write definition on the paper, grade, repeat. No skills for real life...
DISAPPOINTED! Such a hot-headed teacher. He has a tricky way of teaching, unable to understand whatever he teaches. He takes very lengthy exams within a short time. He imposes a massive burden of homework on students. Not recommended.
pain exams will give arthritis from writing 40 pages in an hour and you get four hours of homework a week.
The most caring professor I've ever had. His definitions helped me get an internship. Yes, you have to work to get the grade. Oh no! Your grade is your effort. He helps you learn how to think for yourself, and I can approach any problem in life because of his class.
He is a good professor and a teacher, but his exams are unecessarily hard. He makes you understand accounting in a practical way. I would recommend him if you are good with memorization, as you will have to memorize 100+ definitions word for word. Will take him for ACTG 211, wish me luck.
this man is the most inconsiderate person EVER even if you're sick & have a documented absence, he has no understanding. he told us he'd collect late HW on the last day, the last day comes and he's like sorry i lied i can't take it! LIKE TF and this man prides himself on "real world experience" in the real world we can go to the bathroom whenever
Great professor, however memorization heavy and tests are rough. Learned a lot from his class and I would take him again
If you take ACTG 211 with Anderson, definitely take his class for ACTG 210 first. There is a lot of memorization and the homework takes multiple hours each night. Has high expectations for students and is fast-paced. Go to SI sessions- tested on everything! One of my favorite professors- while hard he made me want to change my major to Accounting.
Overall, he teaches very well. Get used to getting called on very often, as it is expected that you can answer questions or at least attempt them. His tests are more memorization than anything else but straightforward. Homework took me anywhere from 1-3 hours for every assignment. One thing is that he is old school and set in his ways.
Professor Anderson's class is tough but valuable. I assure you that if you make the class a priority, Anderson will help you succeed. Be prepared to take a stab at the material on your own and master it in class. Take advantage of his office hours and the many SI sessions. Anderson is a great mentor who wants his students to excel post grad.
You have to read the textbook or will 100% fail. Homework every night and tests are 20 pages minimum and half the questions are just memorizing terms and spitting them back out verbatim. I really did learn a lot in this class and his intense teaching is definitely an effective way to get ready for upper div courses but oh my god, I was hard
You know precisely what is expected in the class and what is on the exam. If you work and study hard, you will succeed in the course.
He does not teach anything in class. He expects you to learn everything yourself and know it when you come to class. If you want to get taught the material, you have to go to office hours. He does not post grades on canvas, so you wont know ur grade till after the semester ends. Choose another professor if possible
If you want a professor who doesn't teach this is the professor for you. He is very charismatic-preparing you for the real world. But you have to teach yourself 95% of course material. On exam 1 the sections average was too high for his liking, an 81%. Because of this he made exam 2 harder and longer with the goal of dropping the average score.
If you are willing to work hard in this class you will succeed. Anderson comes off scary at first but after a few weeks class becomes more chill. The people who don't like him are people don't come to class and don't work hard or study. Take Anderson if you want to actually learn accounting.
Really tough class but overall a great professor. He really wants you to succeed but does assign a lot of homework and the tests are super challenging, but if you put in the work you will succeed. 100% go to the SI sessions they are super helpful and definitely saved my grade. If you don't have a strong work ethic I would not suggest.
He is very stuck in his ways and very traditional. expects you to teach everything to yourself which is not the education I am paying for. Exams are extremely difficult and are over 10 pgs long. But everything is memorization so memorize everything! Gets annoyed/frustrated if you don't understand right away and puts you on the spot a lot.
Honestly the only way to pass is not to waste time on the homework and go to the SI sessions. He is hard to understand and is not effectively teaching, and the student instructors will go over everything needed for the exam and ensure you pass.
He gets a lot of hate, but he provides so many resources for students and wants them to succeed. His tests are so similar to the SI sessions so go to them! He does not mind spending the time to go over any concept. The class gets faster paced as it progresses, but if you are willing to put in work you will do okay. You get out what you put in.
Be prepared his class is 75 minutes of cold calling..There are two assignments a week that take 3 hrs each. On top of that, I went to 2 hours of SI sessions a week and still got a C. There is an insane amount of material to learn. If you don't go to SI sessions, you will FAIL. But u know exactly what will be on the test.
Unrealistic expectations including 100+ vocabulary definitions that you have to memorize WORD FOR WORD to receive credit on exams. Prepare to spend 4+ hrs on homework every night. His tests are weighted HEAVILY; 3 exams - 25% each. You might as well not even do the homework and just focus on studying for the tests. His teaching is very outdated.
Initially he will come off as intimidating, uncaring and old fashioned as ever but this man is a GEM. Yes it will take 8+ hours a week outside of class, yes tests are 20 pages yes you will be called on every single class. It takes REAL work ethic. People here LOVE the thought of having what it takes to be successful in business, here it is for you.
He turns you into an ACADEMIC WEAPON he challenges you to become better and I know I've become a much better student from him my work ethic is so much better he changed me into a dual major in accounting.
He did not upload a single grade the entire semester. You are just in the dark about your performance for the entire semester. The laziest teacher I've had in my life. For ACTG 210, you are way better off with a different professor. Avoid if you can.
The hardest teacher for accounting but the best. You learn so much and if you put in effort it is totally possible to do well.
Scott Anderson grows on you trust me. The first weeks of class I absolutely hated him and thought he was completely unreasonable and rude. However, as the semester progressed and I was able to see how my work was being reflected and I was truly understanding the material, I was able to understand his method. Just stick with him, trust me.
if you are a marketing student, do not let him know! you will be called out probably every class. Graded mostly on 3 exams. Exams are LONG! Highly recommend going to SI sessions to properly prepare for exams. If you are on his good side you are set. If you take him for 210 you should take him for 211. Everything transfers and is the same def list.
This class is insanely hard!!! I went to 4 hours of tutoring sessions and still got a C. You have to work insanely hard to survive this class. Prepare for this class to be your hardest one. There is a project in this class that will consume all your time.
Professor Anderson's class is no walk in the park, but if you put in the work, it pays off. The material is tough, but the SI sessions and tools like unstuck AI are lifesavers. Expect a challenge, but you'll come out a better student.
Anderson was my least favorite professor after the first class and my favorite after a few weeks. But this is a hard class. The majority of your grade is 3 exams, half of which are vocab definitions. You don't see your grade in Canvas but have an idea of where you're at. If you make an effort, he will like you. The material itself isn't that hard.
Professor Anderson is my favorite professor. The exams are important and you have to put in the time. I wished I committed more time and I could've finished with an A. I learned so much and feel much more confident in the subject walking out of his class. Take him and take his 211. but DONT take 211 without doing 210.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! probably one of, if not the worst, professor i have ever had. he does not teach and relies on the textbook stuff. i did so poorly on the first exam and when i asked him for help, all he said was that i need to study better. that was the advice i was given. worst professor ever and he needs to be fired ASAP!!
I'll make it simple for yall. If you enjoy super long tests that are basically impossible
Professor Anderson is a sweet and genuine guy who teaches you lessons beyond just academic material. Admittedly, his class is difficult with long tests and smaller assignments/projects, but it trains you to develop better time management skills and work ethic. If you decide to take his class, proceed with a prepared and committed mindset.
I was recommended to take Scott for accounting by a friend because "he's tough but he will genuinely make you a better student". This couldn't be more true, as although his tests are extensive and homework each night takes hours to complete, this forced me to improve on my academic discipline which made studying with classmates honestly really fun.
If you are not prepared to spend 8+ a week on hw the first month, do not take this class! He makes you self-study 95% of the material thru textbook and definitions. However, I respect his teaching style + how he corrects mistakes and guides students when necessary. You really learn accounting from him, and the class is worthwhile!
