Great class: he's funny and easy to understand. If you show up to class, there's no need to do any outside reading. Weekly quizzes save your grade. I recommend it even if you aren't interested in architecture.
Funny, makes class interesting and fun.
GREAT Class. Actually learn something by taking this class. Scott Bernhard is extremely hot and very cool. He is funny, logical, and if you go to class you can learn without reading boring books
Easy class if you show up and take notes. Funny guy, it was a fun class
Funny guy even though most of the laughs he receives are sympathy laughs. Makes the class somewhat interesting and really easy as long as u attend classes.
i love this man
good teacher, interesting lectures, he's very cool despite being a **** liberal. Super hot in that nerdy kind of way.
Yeah, I took this guy back in 00' and I'm sure he's on tons of drugs, if not, he's really cool anyways. He's not hot cause his hair is real greasy, but thats not important. What is important is that you could probably smoke a joint with this dude. Less is More... haha
Excellent professor. Equipped with a brilliant wit, he brings life to the class and the material. Quizzes reflect the lecture material and there is no real need to follow in the textbook as long as you attend classes. Mid-term and Final are relatively easy.
I have never laughed so hard in class before in my life. In addition to being hysterical, Scott teaches his material in a way that everyone can understand it. Plus, he is Harry Potter. You cannot go wrong with this class (and his stories about riding the short bus, his childhood, and ...everything!)
This guy knows how to present his material. The class was great. Clear, and in-depth. Loved it.
I loved this class, it was my favorite (and presently is) my favorite. Scott is a great teacher and I felt like I did learn a lot of interesting things that I could be proud of.
Bernhard presents the material in a hilarious way that you'll never get tired of. 5 question quizzes every tuesday on material from the last 2 classes. They are simple and straight-forward, only requiring some note-skimming. I really loved this class and learned about things that actually pertain to me.
Prof B made me laugh so hard that I peed (twice this happened). Great class, and I wasn't even an architecture major.
This was my favorite class this year. Scott has an extremely witty sense of humor and makes lectures interesting and relevant. He is easy to relate to and approachable. I learned a lot, and tests and quizzes were easy because the only studying I had to do was skim through notes to jog my memory. He doesn't try to trick students with his tests.
Scott is great! He really knows his stuff and explains everything in a fun way so that you remember it. He's hilarious and witty too. As long as you go to class you should have no problem getting a good grade.
Scott Berhard- funniest professor alive. I would love to have him as a professor again!
Great class to take, Arch major or not. Ridiculously hilarious. Passionate about the subject. Cares about teaching and students. Kind-hearted, mellow person. Fair grader. Easy A if you pay attention and study regularly (once a week). Otherwise you get a B+ range. Short 5 minute quiz every Tuesday. A midterm and a final. No big deal.
awesome teacher. i took this class for a fine art credit and ended up deciding to minor in architecture. go to class and pay attention (its not hard, his lectures are really interesting and engaging) and you will do well. really funny guy.
Great professor! Interesting class. I'm a non major and had no trouble, just make friends in the architecture programs to teach you how to sketch and you'll do well.
Good professor. Book not necessary, but the extra diagrams and info was helpful. As long as you focus during class, you'll be fine.
My favorite class and professor last semester! He made the class very engaging and truly magnified the passion that I have for architecture. His quizzes are easy, 5 questions every Tuesday. Midterm and the Final are easy too. I recommend this class to everyone, major or non-major.
hilarious guy, his classes are very fun despite being a somewhat boring subject
Good at explaining, keeps lectures interesting.
Everyone in my class was obsessed with him. Literally the nicest guy and so smart. He and his wife are really cool people. Amazing architect and I would take this class again if I could.
Amazing in everyway
Bernhard is an amazing teacher. I wish more professors were like him. He keeps his lectures engaging and has a bunch of funny stories and anecdotes so you'll want to pay attention. If you show up and take decent notes it should be an easy A. Weekly quizzes on the last week's material and one midterm. All of which isn't hard if you pay attention
Great guy, likes what he teaches, engaging, real with you.
Class is just lectures that can get a little dry but he's such a phenomenal lecturer. I absolutely love hearing him speak- so articulate, melodious, and everyone would agree. You have a 5 question quiz every tuesday so you need to go to class but they're easy. dont get the textbook whatsoever.
He is a talented lecturer who is accomplished in his field. The course itself can get repetitive and dry, but he does his best to interject personal experiences and jokes. Quizzes once a week are very fair and account for half your grade. Easy to excel on the midterm and final. Coming to class and lightly reviewing you notes will do the trick.
Show up to class and read over the study guides given and you will be fine. 5 question quizzes given every Tuesday, so don't skip, but they are easy if you pay some attention during lectures. Lectures are boring, but Prof Bernhard tries to keep it entertaining and interesting. Dry subject sometimes, but interesting prof.
Great professor. He makes everything easy to understand. His lectures get boring sometimes, but he has a great personality and does his best to keep them interesting. 5 question quizzes every Tuesday, so going to class is important. He drops the two lowest quiz grades. His class really sparks your interest in architecture.
Scott is an amazing, hilarious guy. Lectures can be hard to pay attention to, but it is hard to do that with intro to architecture, and if you do listen, they are super interesting.
Scott is by far the most fair and amazing teacher to have even if you aren't an architecture major. I enjoyed his class so much
Scott is super easy going and its clear that he is super passionate about Architecture. His lectures can be boring sometimes but overall it is an interesting class that I'm glad I took. There are quizzes every Monday (50% of grade) and a midterm/final (both 25% of grade). Takes attendance every class so show up!
Started cracking down on participation and integrity on quizzes the semester I took him. Lectures can be interesting, but also can drag on forever. Tests & quizzes are so easy if you read study guides. I found this prof to be rather passive aggressive and strongly opinionated. Would say things that were borderline offensive at times.
Bernhard is super funny and gives easy-to-understand lectures. Little to no work outside of class, and the quizzes are easy if you go to lecture. Just study the vocabulary.
This class made me switch to the Architecture School. I am in my freshman year and wanted to explore different subject matters I did not have the opportunity to learn about in high school. Needless to say, I was amazed. There's a quiz at the beginning of class every Tuesday, but his study guides make it virtually impossible to fail. Take his class!
Scott is a great guy and his passion for architecture translates to his lectures. For the most part, lectures are interesting and easy to comprehend but can run on a little long sometimes. Weekly quizzes are pretty simple and the study guides he hands out are actually really useful. As a nonmajor, I would totally recommend the class.
Prof. Bernhard is amazing. He gives weekly quizzes every Tuesday which make up 50% of your grade so attendance is mandatory. However, he gives out amazing study guides and drops the lowest two quizzes. mid term and final were very straightforward.
best teacher. funny. good lectures. interesting. well spoken. if you show up and at least glance over the study guides its very easy to do well.
Prof Bernhard's lectures are extremely dry and boring, making it hard to pay attention. He passes around a sign in sheet for attendance every class, even though I'm not sure how it affects your grades. Be sure to study for all the quizzes, using the study guides, because they quickly add up to 50% of your grade.
His lectures are pretty interesting. He also is pretty funny and easy-going. Quizzes and tests are based on more general ideas than specifics. Great professor and great class
His quizzes are usually pretty easy as long as you came to class and watched the recorded lectures over the weekend. You will have at least 2 videos/lectures to watch every weekend and they can often be 30minute-1hour videos. Sometimes they are shorter. Besides watching these, the course is not much work & can be a nice break from tougher classes
Loved this class. There's only a few grades; 5 point quiz once a week, a midterm and a final. They weren't bad as long as you prepared. Attendance was not mandatory, but I never missed a class because the material was interesting and the guy is funny. Just be prepared to watch a lot of lectures outside of class too (1.5x speed life saver)
Highly recommend this class. The lectures are a little boring, but there is only a 5-question quiz every week and the answers are all on the study guides that Professor Bernhard gives you. He really just wants to share his love for architecture and for his students to do well.
His ARCH1110 class is so so easy. It is completely online. There are weekly quizzes (all online), 1 midterm (online), and a final. He does a zoom poll every class for a small grade. His grading is extremely straightforward because this class is online. You can easily get by without paying attention.
Absolute gem, caring and wants everyone to do well. This class is so straightforward that I don't know how people get the daily poll question wrong. For the love of god please pay attention it makes him sad (and i get secondhand embarrassment) when half of the class answers it wrong and the answer was literally on the lecture slides a minute before
This class sucks because it is online and there too many people. You can't even ask questions in class because the Zoom will break. He knows what he is talking about but is kinda stuck up. He talks about his achievements a lot. The quizzes aren't hard if you pay attention his voice is just so montotone. Easy arts credit but that is about it.
Professor Bernhard is awesome. He is so sweet and wants his students to do well. Class is on zoom and all of the quizzes are online, and the lowest grades are dropped. Class is interesting and easy to follow and the tests and quizzes are extremely straightforward.
Literally the easiest A you will ever get in your life. Lectures are basically architecture ASMR so i just play them in the background while hitting nic and playing subway surfers in my bed. Take this class.
Scott is so freaking cool but has a monotone talkshow radio voice. It's an online course that doesn't allow student participation, and he posts study guides for the weekly quizzes that basically give all the answers. The weekend homework asynch lectures are long, but interesting.
Scott is the GOAT.
Easiest class I've taken so far; good if you just need the credits. Have 13 quizzes, 3 are dropped, and all answers are online. Midterm and final are like quizzes, they have a lockdown browser but no camera. He has study guides already made. Huge online class, so you won't need to participate. Lectures can sometimes be interesting.
This class inspired me to switch my major from chemistry to architecture. Super interesting topics and actually wants his students to enjoy learning.
LOVE SCOTT. He's nice and funny and the class is easy if you listen during the lectures. It's clear he cares a lot about the topic and about his students. I emailed him once with an extra question and he responded quickly with a really thoughtful response.
Very passionate about architecture. Super super easy class because it's all online. Content can be interesting or boring depending on the unit.
Sweet man but I didn't learn anything in this course. The only grades are weekly quizzes that are only available for 20 minutes before class and automatically submit after 10 minutes. you can't go back after answering a question, this is to avoid cheating but a terrible system has zero makeup quizzes/extra cred & doesn't allow accommodations.
there is a 10 minute timer once the quizzes starts, you cant go back after answering a question and he doesn't allow any accommodations. I often ran out of time before I could even see all the questions. no makeup quizzes. he only receives good reviews bc there is no work but I learned nothing, it was a complete waste of my tuition money and time.
Not a very difficult class. Half of the grade is quizzes and the other half is tests. Lectures are interesting and listening to him definitely expanded my vocabulary
Lectures over zoom along with video lectures outside of class. There were weekly quizzes about the video lectures but they were pretty easy. I did not pay attention at all in the class and still did good on the midterm and final. All multiple choice for everything.
Not even a real class. Just a long, boring Zoom lecture with no cameras allowed. Your entire grade is quizzes and exams, which are all multiple choice. Not a fun class, but an easy one worth taking to fill a requirement.
Fully online class so all quizzes and tests were online as well. Don't have to pay attention during lectures although they aren't boring so if you're at least somewhat interested in the material it might be worth a listen. Polls are used in some classes for attendance otherwise they just check zoom attendance
Overall, a good experience! The course was entirely online which could make it hard to stay engaged at times. Very lecture heavy with pop up polls randomly during class to check participation and quizzes every week. Easy to get an A if you pay attention in the lectures and do participation polls. Tries to include interesting content.
Very straight forward. there are quizzes every week, but he provides study guide for every week. There is one midterm and one final. Polling question for attendance every class.
Online course is easy and chill. This is last semester before it is in person. Professor is chill and gives study guides for quizzes which is nice. Weekly quiz and two exams. Graded by little things, but if you do well, you will be good for the semester. His lectures are interesting. Quizzes and exams can be hard to know, but all multiple choice.
Workload = 1 5-question online quiz a week, 13 total and lowest 3 grades get dropped. Plus a final and midterm test and one poll every class to ensure attendance. Easy to leave on in the background and do work for other classes, then take quizzes with friends to ensure high grade. If you focus on the lecture, there's some interesting stuff too.
Class was easy in terms of quizzes, and tests. Attendance is mandatory and polls are conducted to grade attendance and participation. Lectures are very long and kind of boring, but content is easy. Easy class, easy grading, just hard to stay engaged over zoom.
Very kind and passionate about his subject. It is an online course with quizzes at the beganing of every week but the lowest three get dropped. Just read the lecture notes before hand and maybe watch the weekend houses but you should be good otherwise. Tells stories to set up the frame for his lecture which can be funny. Good professor all around.
Pretty easy class, not too much work honestly - a quiz a week, lowest 3 get dropped, plus midterm and final, and most lectures had a poll to ensure attendance. Lectures can be boring but the content isn't hard. Obviously very passionate about his subject which can make it interesting but he has a very monotone voice that kinda puts me to sleep.
Best class at Tulane for the art credit requirement. I've taken 1 credit classes that take more time and effort than intro to arch. It's a 3 credit online course with little to no homework and causes zero stress. I can't count how many people I've referred to take this.
Scott Bernhard is sweet and wants everyone to succeed. The class is online. There are quizzes every week (On Tuesdays) before the lecture. There are only 5 questions, which are not hard as long as you pay attention. Midterm and Final exams are online, but starting in the fall of 2025, a camera will be required to be on.
This is an online course so it's not super intense, but Scott is super passionate and clearly highly educated on architecture/art and super articulate. The class is a bit boring and his voice is kind of monotone. The class has 13 weekly asynchronous quizzes (lowest 3 dropped) and a final and a midterm. There's not any homework. Solid class though.
easy class. not an arch major, wasn't super interesting to me. answers accessible on internet. maybe camera required in the future? hw is weekend house videos & extra lectures (VERY ANNOYING). videos vary in length & are inconvenient. i didnt pay attention, just rewatched lectures in 2x speed before quizzes (he uploads the zooms)
So easy. I was hesitant to take this class because I know nothing about architecture, but it was the best decision for an easy art credit. If you are looking for a sign to take it, this is it.
Easy class to turn on and fall asleep to but there are polls in the middle of class so have a groupchat or something where someone calls when there's a poll. Tests are cheatable.
Easiest class I have ever taken at this university.
All online, counts as some gen eds. Very easy just half pay attention to the zoom to not miss the polls. Would not take if was not online though because its just lecture the whole time.
he is super nice. the class is an easy A. However, if it is not an online class next year don't take it. As an online class it is a really easy class.
This class was super easy. I took it for credits and did well. Prof is a great teacher and cares about his students. It is a super large lecture but its online. quiz once a week, midterm, and final are the only grade put into canvas. I know little about architecture but its perfect if you need these: Aesthetics & Creative Arts, Global Perspectives
Online lectures are boring, but this is the easiest class ever.
LOVE HIM!!! The best class. Fills so many requirements. RECOMMEND THIS CLASS TO EVERYONE. Such a lovely person.
Prof Bernhard is very knowledgeable about architecture. Class is online with polls that count for attendance. If you study and attend lectures, exams are not bad at all. Be respectful in class because he gets interrupted on the Zoom and will kick you out of lectures if you unmute for anything other than asking questions.
Scott's lectures are dryer, but interesting if you pay attention. He does polls for attendance, and honestly he's just a really nice dude. Love his class, not much homework, just don't unmute on zoom because it's annoying and he'll kick you off. Everything on quizzes and tests is in lectures or assigned readings. 10/10 sarcastic king.
Easiest class I've taken. Zoom lectures are super low-stress, and you basically just have to answer one poll each class for credit. No workload, easy A as long as you show up and click the poll.
This class is almost impossible to get below a 90 in. Any review saying otherwise needs to do some serious reflection. Zoom class where your camera must be off and mic must be muted. Online quizzes and exams. Worst 3 quiz grades out of 13 quizzes gets dropped. 0 spacing required. There is a poll every class to make sure youre actually attending.
Easiest class ever. Take it if you want a free A and to sleep in.
