Dr. Brown rambles too much about things that aren't important at all. He never really answers questions and he thinks he's a badass. I wouldn't take this guy if I were you.
Dr. Brown is very interesting. His frequent renditions of Eminem songs are quite amusing as well. He's a hottie!
He wears turbans in class. Do visual aids get any better than that? Likes to say "Mickey D's" a lot and likes to belt out Eminem tunes..."two trailer park girls go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside..."

Good class, Dr. Brown is funny, but don't ****him off. You'll do well on the test if you just take notes.
Dr. Brown gets off topic two much. He doesn't really answer your question. You basically have to read the book to get a good understanding, his test are also VERY long.Only take Dr. Brown if you are up for a challenge.
Great professor and a fun guy. He relates to his students and is very helpful. He is confidant with the material. I highly reccomend study abroad with him as it will be insightful and a blast.
Easy class...but very boring.
HELLO NAP TIME. This class is so totally boring I want to hang myself with my shoelaces from the ceiling. He gets way off topic and talks about coasta rica all the time. tests could be easy if you really study.
Very easy professor. Tests come from notes and reading, but key is to know his study guide (ask him for one). Doesn't take any crap from stupid frat guys. If you can get him excited about an issue, he will have to drop stuff he didn't get to from the test
I love Dr. Brown! He's great!
Best professor in the entire geography department. I tell anyone who asks about geography professors to take his class. Is really a totally hot babe...Too bad he's taken..

His class is by no means easy, but he's a fabulous instructor. It means a lot when you have someone teaching you that cares. Dr. Brown is that type of teacher. Keep up the good work!

great teacher, class can be a little boring, but tests aren't that hard
After i was so bored in geography i wanted to strangle myself with the map in the class room, why did i not wise up and take antrhopology with this guy. I have more fun watching paint dry.
Sure, he rambles a bit. And yes, the subject material isn't the most interesting in the world. But overall, Dr. Brown's a fantastic teacher. He's willing to help you outside the classroom and he's great!
dr. brown is a great teacher. it's so obvious he knows what he's talking about. as long as you study your notes, the tests are easy. the map quizzes are a little difficult, but most map quizzes are. i would definitely take him again!
dr. brown, are you rating yourself? come on man..half our class dropped for a reason! it's so boring even the hyper kid with ADD fell asleep
If you don't have fun people in the class drop, i passed with a C, and that's only because we had great classmates. All i can say is Study, Study, and do more Studying. He is better than Locklyer.
dr. brown's class can be boring but it's not that bad. you do current events every other week that are easy A's. he does get off subject easily so it takes a while to get to quizes and tests
Dr. Brown is a nice guy, but he is very boring. The work isn't too hard so that should take up the slack.

*snores* BORING!!!
He is an odd teacher, but he was an easy teahcer. He gave us a two weeks to complete our assignments. He was a good man, I recommend everybody taken him for University Life 101
boring! you will never get out early. map tests are a killer. current events help your grade
BORING. He is the most boring professor I have had at FMU so far. On the other hand it's an easy A, the map quizzes are not as hard as people make them sound. The current event reports are a no brainer, I dont even think he reads them, just's check to make sure everything is there. Take him he's easy
Yes it's boring. Gets off topic. 3 tests(w/final), map quizzes (easy), current events (easy). Gives a study guide. Tests are basically common sense. Uses powerpoint. Hard to take notes. If you listen during class, should be alright.
real jerk when my fater passed away
You should be fine if you make decent grades on the map quizzes, tests, and current events. Do not skip class a lot, even though it's boring, he looks highly on those who have not missed many days. Other than that, the class is OK, not exactly Club Carolina but what class at FMU is?
Is it me, or does this guy twitch alot? Other than that, he's pretty cool.
It's a long class. It's pretty easy. Shouldnt have a problem doing well.
I don't think his class is so easy. The study guides for the test is not much help at all, and the tests barely covers what he discusses in class.
You have to go to class to take notes & read the book. He's a good guy & knows his stuff. He's also willing to help in any way possible. The current events help your grade. You just have to stay on top of your notes & know your stuff. The map tests are a pain, so know the maps and you'll be fine. He's a good guy & the class was boring though.
Most boring class ever.
This class was easy enough, a lot of notes and reading. He really knows his stuff so it makes it easier to follow. Study sessions help a little, but he only mentions a few things that could be on the test(s), so those are pretty optional.
He yelled at me for no reason when the girls around me where causing trouble..he asked me a question in class that i did my best to answer but i did not understand his question instead of helping me understand he made the comment that i should pay attention ( excuse me for not knowing the answer )
Perhaps the most boring prof ever, but a very easy class. Consists of 4 map quizzes (easy if you study the countries, capitals, and features he points out), 4 easy current event reports, and two exams. The exams pretty much come from his lectures. So, if you take good notes in class, you can do well and probably won't even need the book.
Worst teacher I have had at FMU. Extremely boring and every class is a repeat of the last. You may spend the entire class on one power point slide while he rambles on and on. Only positive is that it is an easy class - however you will want to strangle yourself with the map before it is all over.
Absolutely the most boring, useless class I've ever taken. He never really teaches you anything. The only thing that helps you do good are the current events (easy), and the map quizzes which you can get like ten extra points on. The tests have questions about stuff he maybe mentioned for like a millisecond. Don't take him, SUPER BORING.
Great teacher. Knows the subject and does not BS his way through it.
plain and simple easy class but....he's a burner
Boring! It was extremely a waste of time. He jus rambles and the things he talks about isn't even on the test! His powerpoint slides are just pictures and maps. I hated the class there is no need to attend class jus memorize the chapters, turn in current events, and show up 4 test and quizes.
He's a really nice guy, but his class is unbearably boring most of the time. He rambles on and on about things we don't even need to know. I found him to be an easy teacher, but I can see why people think he's hard. Some of the material on the test, he doesn't even cover during lecture and isn't even in the book.
I barely learned anything in his class. He talks on and on about information thats not important. I learned nothing in his class. The current events are easy and map quizzes are okay. Even though he gives a study guide for the test his notes will not help. Make sure you read the book for whats on the study guide. Do not take his class!!!!!
Most of the info on tests are from the book. He throws in bits from lecture, but most can be gotten from the text. He is kind of boring but is very accomodating if you have issues that come up.
This teacher is horrible. I think he is a smart guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. He will put up a powepoint and stay on it for 25 minutes and not explain anything that is relevant to what's on the powerpoint. This is the worse teacher I've ever had. You can't take notes in his class because he just rambles on about unrelevant info.
Easy. He is a nice guy and loves sharing about his experiences traveling around the world. PARTICIPATE, class goes quicker. Anything he repeats is on the test.
Dr. Brown is an excellent professor. He is not a very good public speaker. But he does get his point across. If you take his class, see how many times he says the word right!!!
He was a nice person, but a bad teacher. Most of the time he's monotone and you never leave class early. The power points information was of little use on the test, and yet that's all he talks about in class.
The power points were useless information about places he has been to, and he never talks about the book. I read the book and was still lost, but it's the only reason I made a C. However, the geo majors in the class thought it was pretty easy, but I'm not a geo major. He's a nice teacher, but I didn't think he could teach.
Good teacher. This class is extremely easy if you study the power points (which come directly from the book) and do the weekly current event reports, which only have to be a couple of pages long. I never made less than an A on anything in the class. He does tend to ramble and it is boring at times, but that's okay bc it is an easy course!!!
The lectures are 100% power points and get boring and seem to last forever if the topic doesn't interest you. The powerpoints come straight from the textbook, so you really just have to skim over the chapters. The tests are multiple choice and matching with bonus essay, and easy if you study. The current events are easy 100s. I would take it again.
He was not a good teacher I did not learn anything and he would stay on one topic almost the entire class and not teach anything !
Dr. Brown is not my favorite professor. He rambles a lot and his lectures are boring. His tests are hard and don't always reflect the material covered in class or even the book. His grading isn't consistent and he is really just all over the place. He loves what he does, but I can't handle his disorganization. I would not take him again.
I struggled for the A I got in this class. Dr. Brown tends to ramble and the class is quite boring. The test are extremely hard.
Dr brown class was a bit challenging he does gives study guide but sometimes everything on the study is not the same as the test. I probably will be passing his class with a C or B only because I stayed aggravating him everyday about what will be on the test.
I had Dr. Brown for GEOG 101 in the Fall semester of 2015. His tests are probably difficult if you don't study, but he's willing to work with you. Clearly knows what he's talking about and is passionate about his subject. Would definitely recommend.
Brown is awful. Half way through the semester you are barely in chapter 2. He talks about stuff not related and the test are super heavy on stuff he never he taught because he was too busy running his mouth. The only thing keeping me afloat are current events and map quizzes (which are hard, too).
The class was very easy. The current events were simple. The map quizzes were easy to study for. His lectures were horrible. Never seemed to get anything over a 85 on the test.
Dr. Brown is lecture heavy. He will post a study guide which is exactly like your test on blackboard. The book is no help. He suggest you read it but most information for the study guides can be found in the powerpoints he post or google. Current events are easy. I turned in the same ones twice and I got 100s on all of them.
Dr. Brown is one of my favorite professors, but I love geography and everything that goes with it. His lectures are long, lumbering, and difficult to follow if you don't know what's going on. Read the textbook, read the PowerPoints, don't interrupt him. He'll ramble, but you'll learn in every class he teaches. Study, but don't overwork yourself.
This class was a struggle. His test were so hard they were even multiple choice. He gives a study guide but the study guide has nothing to do with the test. He stays on a topic way to long. He knows his stuff but isn't good at teaching it. The only thing that keep me doing ok was current events and map quizzes.
The study guides are useless. Current events were easy, map quizzes were okay as long as you studied. Tests were horrible, never made over a C on them. He goes on and on about useless information in lectures alot and the book is completely useless for the class.
The only way you don't pass this class is if you don't put in the effort. He will look over your study guide during office hours and offers 10 extra credit points on each test. The test are just like the study guides so if you study those there is no way you can't do good.
If you pay attention in class and do the work you will have no problem with Dr. Brown. Some students were disruptive in class which he does not tolerate, which I appreciated. Loved doing current event papers and map quizzes. Made an A.
Gives map quizzes online, assigns current event reports, and gives out study guides. The map quizzes are fine. Current events must be PERFECT. The study guides cover everything, but neither the guides nor the ppts will help you on the awful tests. Everyone fails. He will lock you out, even if you're a minute late. Even at the final. GL if u get him
Dr. Scott was an all around nice guy! He made jokes sometimes in class, but they were few and far between. I already taken world geography in high school, but this class was nothing like that. He is extremely lecture heavy, and he is very hard to follow. He rambles extremely bad, and if you lose focus, good luck. If you work hard, you'll be good!
He is a terrible teacher. He is hard to follow and treats students like they are in elementary school. His study guides are no help for tests. Map quizzes have random cities and not capitals. Overall the worst professor Ive had at FMU
Dr. Brown is a very nice guy he even brought us dounuts on the last day. He is very passionate about georgraphy and has travled the world. If you show up to class and do all what he recommends especally taking notes during class you will be fine. Just make sure to study and pay attention in class. All assignments are online.
I made an A in class but I had to work hard for it. He actually called me disrespectful for not wanting to take a lower grade because my paper was turned in on time but submitted through a wrong system but he still got it. I advise to take someone else if possible
Professor Brown's online course was alright. All his assignments are related to the textbook and his powerpoints. There's a good bit of test given every month. He hates plagiarism of any sort (even if it's accidental). Beware of your choice of words on discussion posts and current events, he checks for accuracy. Follow the rules and you'll do fine.
Very easy, read the section of the current chapter and state your opinion on it with the facts. And youll be set on that class.
Not a good lecturer. He tends to ramble and not cover topics that will be on the test. Still good to attend for participation points. In order to learn what will be on the test, just read the chapter and look over the power points and you should be fine. Overall very easy class to pass, especially because all tests are online.
Not very hard to learn from, the curriculum was easy and wasn't a lot of work. Explained everything very well, he wasn't complicated. He does use the textbook but never the Atlas that he recommends for his online class. The atlas was a waste of money since I never used it. Overall he was pretty straightforward and simple and a good professor.
He is an easy class. With his online class, he mostly just left everything up to us. He gave us PowerPoints than quizzes and tests were based off those. I only took it to graduate. Okay professor, easy class.
Hes an okay teacher, very bouncy, back and forth, lecture heavy, exams are from the study guides but very few are actually from lecture in my experience
This teacher was very horrible, hes very boring, he made everyone in my class fall asleep literally! I tried my best to stay awake but he is flat out horrible. Some of the questions on his test not even on the study, and then some of the questions on his study guide isnt even on his PowerPoint lecture. Plus he is not understanding at all.
Dr. Brown rambles on and on and routinely forgets to change slides and will talk about things that have nothing to do with the slide that is up. Half the things on the exam study guides had never been discussed in class and only make sense if you spend the hours reading or going through the 60+ slides in his powerpoints. Would never recommend.
His work is easy to do, map quizzes, some tests and small papers. He doesn't let you make up anything even if you have an excuse so try to do it before its due. He is extremely bias and opinionated just try to ignore it and get the work done, I had to learn the hard way that my opinions, even as a primary source doesn't matter. Otherwise easy class
Regularly forgets to change the powerpoint slides and spends most of class rambling about things not relevant to the lecture. He gives study guides, but half of what's on the study guides isn't taught in class or on the powerpoint. Also extremely boring, I wouldn't recommend.
Always reminds you when an assignment is due. That's really good.
I would absolutely recommend staying away from any of Scott Browns classes unless you thoroughly enjoy being taught lies and insane bias. I would sit in class and google the stuff he was teaching us and he was so far off so many times it seemed intentional. If I could recommend anything, it would be for FMU to fire him. Also insanely boring class
Such an ungodly boring class. He spends four days going on the same slides and other time's just skips by stuff with a few remarks and tells you its on the study guide. The map quizes and homework are both easy with just basic knowledge so don't worry if you know your geography.
Spends most of the lecture time talking about irrelevant stuff. Lectures are nothing like the study guides or tests... The study guides were not helpful so expect to do research on your own to teach yourself. I highly recommend not taking this class.
