Dr. Caplan was the best thing about this class. He was funny, energetic, intriguing. He made the class fun and interesting. I'm extremely glad I took this class. He's an amazing teacher, and I certainly plan on taking him again. No student has a complete life at UDEL if they have no taken him! He's incredible, and his teaching skills are fantastic!

This man is basically the best prof on campus. I wish there was a higher setting for helpfulness, because 5 doesn't do him justice. I asked him for help many times, and he made resloving the problem very easy. He has a screenname that he gives to students, and it is possibly the best way to contact him. 350 charracters are not enough for him.

caplan is the MAN! his class was the most informative and interesting class i took all semester. it's a lecture, so attendance isn't required, but you really should go. don't rely on the text, although he will touch upon it on the exams, but just barely. i'm taking him again next semester. definitely take one of his classes!

Professor Caplan is probably one of the greatest ones I will ever have. What is so great about him is he talks to you like he's your friend, not a student knows less than him. AMAZING professor. he is very helpful and available to students. you will definitely use the textbooks and he puts all of his slides in a booklet you buy so its a lot easier to pay attention in class since you arent trying to just copy everything down. definitely take him, hes great.

Anyone who says Caplan is hard was lazy and didn't go to class or do any work. Caplan's test are by no means easy, but he really is a great teacher. He knows so much about communications and keeps class very interesting. STUDY for tests though they're pretty hard. I def recommend Caplan for any COMM class.

Pretty funny, laid back guy. Tests can be tricky of you don't do the readings outside of class as 30% of them are based on the book. Fairly easy concepts - ask questions. He's a good adviser to have as well.

There are only three exams and they are strictly multiple choice questions. The first exam is the worst and even though he says only 30% of the material is from the books, that is not true. You have to read all the chapters and take notes. Just studying the class notes is not enough! He is a nice teacher and lectures we're pretty interesting

Topics discussed are very relevant to students' lives and interesting. Take Caplan, attend class, and do the readings and you'll have an enjoyable and pretty easy A.

I took this class over winter and I am in Comm Interest major. I really enjoyed this class...Caplan is super nice and really laid back. If you need to take it over winter it is not bad at all just make sure you read and go to class. I spent a lot of time reading but it was worth it because I got an A. Great professor!

READ THE BOOKS. Especially the little things you would think are not important. That's where test questions come from. Take detailed notes and study a LOT for exams. Materials seems easy but there is a LOT of it and much of it is similar. Really know you're information.

Caplan is straight up awesome! I took this as an upper level breadth for engineering and it was worth my time. He will teach you about life in this class and you will never see people the same way again. COMM 330 is all tests so make sure you take them all seriously. I got a B cause i screwed my first one. Textbook use high (30% of tests). DO IT!!!

Straight up awesome. Best professor at UD. I don't think I would've survived the semester (relationships-wise) without this class. It's basically a group therapy session that everyone enjoys. Reading is recommended and helps during tests. Come to class, study, and read, and you'll be fine. I got an A so it can't be too bad ;)

I took this over winter session and it was definitely a great decision. Such a chill guy that really makes the class interesting and go by quickly. For the love of god, DO THE READINGS. They're really not that bad and it's the only way to get an A. Would recommend to anybody, even non-majors.

Best proff. yet I'm taking another one of his classes in fall he has me obsessed!!!! he knows his stuff tells some great stories and makes insane comments that will make you laugh and become intrigued and interested in the topic you could pass the class without attending but this will be a class you look forward to going to everyday!!!

3rd class I've had with caplan. One of the best professors UD has seen. Knows his stuff ridiculously well and is one of the nicest guys out there. Gotta put some effort in to get a good grade in any of his classes but it's interesting and the way he presents it plus his passion for it makes it easy to understand

I enjoyed comm330; the class material was pretty interesting. I did poorly in the class because I did poorly on the first exam. There's only 3 exams, no extra credit and no other assignments. Don't study the night before an exam. Read ALL textbook pages and notes and throughly understand it all if you want to do well. Generally pretty cool guy.

I absolutely loved this class. The lectures make you question the world as you know it, and really make you think about society and reality. It's great for people like me who are interested in that and like to question everyday life. The tests are average, some questions are harder than others. Your grade is only based on the three exams.

I hated this class. Half of it was the subject, the other half his teaching style. IP is dumb and unnecessary. He talks to you like you are child, not a college student. only take this if you have to. I got an A- only bc i blew off studying for this final for a harder class

Dr. Caplan is absolutely amazing. He keeps your attention throughout the entire semester, and really gives you skills to use in your personal life (especially in your relationships.) Tests are based mostly off of lecture notes, with a few questions from the book. He is very funny and can relate to students well. One of the best professors.

Not a comm major took COMM227 as easy elective. Only had 3 exams the whole semester with no other graded work. As long as you pay attention in class the material is not difficult at all and lectures are actually really interesting. Explains topics clearly and gives lots of examples. Gives extra credit for taking surveys online. Got 90s on all exams

Get ready to read, especially if you want to pass the tests. There are 3 exams and that's it. I would highly recommend buying the course packet, because that's what will be on the exams, plus additional info from the readings. Positives: he's extremely helpful & accommodating, he gives a few opportunities for extra credit, and he makes class fun.

This is my second time taking a class with him and he is an absolutely amazing professor. He makes the class so fun and interesting that you actually want to go. professor caplan is the sweetest guy and genuinely cares about what he is teaching and his students. I loved him so much i am taking him again next semester! He was super energetic and really invested in the topics that he was talking about. I loved listening to his lectures because they were super interesting. He was an awesome professor to have and really wanted to see his students succeed. He did make the class tough but it was always fair.

Caplan is such a sweet professor! His material was super straightforward. He records his lectures through Course Capture so going to class isn't always necessary but he was so entertaining I didn't mind going. Study from notes or packets and you should do well. Also, textbook isn't completely necessary but some terms from text shows up on exams.

I learned so much in the class but the grade I received doesn't reflect how much I learned. 3 exams (worth 38%, 38%, and 24% of grade) 40 MC each. Wish there were other assignments for the grade in the class.

I loved this man! Even though I took his class online, I still learned a lot and was even inspired by what I learned from him! It was condensed since it's summer so there was a lot of reading (book needed) and lectures, 3 exams but no papers in 5 weeks. I recommend purchasing the course packet to help with notes.

I really liked taking Dr. Caplan's class. Three exams, 5-7 textbook readings per exam plus lecture material w/ lots of overlap between the two. Most of the material was common sense and/or just really interesting so it wasn't that difficult. Lectures are posted on UD Capture but most people usually went to class anyway.

I loved this class and learned a lot from it. The class is based on only 3 exams (one of them was 41% of our grade) but it is easy/interesting to study, kind of common sense, but he is a good and interesting professor. He uses course capture so you don't need to go everyday and he def uses his textbook. I recommend the class but the grading sucks

I don't know why this man doesn't have a 5/5. He is the best. His lectures were so light and interesting, and I loved every moment of them. Exams are easy if you do the (super short) readings and take notes in class.

Dr. Caplan is awesome! His lectures are interesting and he's really funny/relatable. The total grade was based on four exams which is kinda scary but he offered 5 points of extra credit after both of the first two exams. Get the course packet and take notes directly on it! Study the packet/your notes and read the textbook, you'll get an A no prob.

Professor Caplan is a great Professor. This class was asynchronous but the lectures were amazing. They were full of important information. This is one of the only classes where I have learned important life skills and I think it helps that he as a professor is really engaging. Overall, I definitely would take again and definitely would recommend.

Amazing Professor cares about students and can relate with them on a personal level. Cracks good jokes and has lots of personal experience to go off of for learning material. Love Caplan would take again.

Dr. Caplan is a really easygoing instructor. He records the lectures. The only grade for the class is 4 quizzes online and then he offers 4 points of extra credit. He does put a lot on the quizzes from the readings.

Prof. Caplan is great! His lectures are so interesting and he keeps all of his students engaged. As long as you go to class and take good notes in the workbook, the exams are easy. He also offers extra credit two times during the semester which is great.

He's so funny and makes class entertaining. Only 4 online open-note tests and 2 chances for extra credit. He has a book with all of his slides that you can buy and I 100% recommend that. Tests are super easy if you take good notes and the textbook is never really used. Would definitely recommend because you learn a lot with an awesome teacher.

The class is all lectures. If you suck at taking tests like I do, I wouldn't recommend this class as it is 4 test grades. there are 4 points for extra credit but no homework. If you buy the note packet and take notes based of stuff he says, you will be fine.

I really liked the hands on content of his class. It is difficult to take notes because he uses a lot of personal stories/examples. Start studying a week before exams. Graded on practically 4 exams so make them count. Some classes are mind numbingly boring but sometimes they're not. 50/50 chance.

Grades by 4 exams, but are relatively easy if you go to class and take good notes. I didn't purchase the slides he recommends, but so far am doing well (A). Opportunity for 4 extra credit points as well. I would love to take another class with him, lectures are interesting and applicable to daily life. 100% recommend Prof. Caplan!!

He was very funny and engaging during lectures. Only downside is that the course is graded by only 4 quizzes which can either make or break your grade. However, he does offer extra credit that can boost your grade by 4 percent.

Caplan is super nice and his lectures are interesting. He gives a notes packet which makes taking notes easier that is just the slides he uses printed out. He sets you up for success well, and the class overall isn't very hard. You have a textbook and there are questions about it on the exam, but if you don't, you can still scrape a 95.

Professor Caplan is the best teacher I have had in years. The classes are always entertaining and he puts a lot of detail into his work. He genuinely cares about his students, makes small talk, and cracks jokes with us often. I recommend this class to everyone I know and genuinely want to say that you have nothing to worry about. Great man! Dr. Caplan is one of the nicest, most helpful guys I've ever met. He's really passionate about his class and wants everyone to do well. Grades only come from exams and extra credit. Lectures are recorded so attendance isn't mandatory but I still went. Exams are online but make sure you actually read the textbook before the exams!

TAKE COMM230!! Professor Caplan is hilarious and made the class fun! I found the 4 exams to be very straightforward if you knew the material. I would say that while attendance isn't mandatory I would recommend going to class. The lectures are posted via UD Capture, but if you pay attention in class and take notes you should do well on the exams.

He's awesome I love his energy. He's so bubbly and practical and it helps a TON. The tests are kind of hard and I got B's on most of them. Make sure you read for exams because some of the info on the exam isn't in the lectures.
