Not bad, just make sure you do all your homework and take all the quizzes

I have been at the UofA for four years, and he is one of the top five worst teachers I have ever had!!! There are other teachers in the math department who are so much better.
Good teacher, just show up, do the homework, and the tests are pretty fair too.

I have heard horror stories about other teachers. He is pretty good, and his tests are a sinch. He usually has the highest number of A's out of all other Calc 1 classes. I think last year he said it was like 10 out of 30 students receieved ans A. The only negative is that the hw problems are difficult.
He's a great teacher just not a super easy class, do the hw and you'll be fine
hmmm, although hes all right during class, i missed 1 class the semester, turned in all the hw assignments, scheduled meetings with the teacher after class which sometimes he showed up and did tutoring labs. I got about 50% in the class. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me. Something isnt right with the way the class is run

kind of a space cadet, but nice outside of class. not always fair though.
He's very helpful and willing to help students outsid of class. He's very fair and he's so nice. He WANTS you to pass his class! =)
this class was fairly easy, he covers the material very well. If you do the homework and show up to class it isn't difficult. He covers the topics well. I was able to get a 100% on the final without really studying and I'm not very gifted at math either
He's helpful outside class, but he sucks in class. Unless you're willing to attend his office hours on a regular basis, you cannot count on his mediocre teaching ability.
Very helpful outside of class. Not a bad teacher but not the worse. you could do better but you could do much worse
Great teacher and very nice guy. At first he seemed very serious but every once in a while he'll crack a joke, and it is ten times funnier coming from such a straight-laced man. You're lucky to get him as your teacher.
Terrible class. The department in general is ridiculous. Very disappointed in Clark as a professor. I'm an A student, but ended up with a 79% in the class; I couldn't get a break for the life of me. I shouldn't have dropped Calc 2 to take what I thought was the easier BusMath sections. Do yourself a favor: take up to Calc 2 to get into Eller.
Clark did a great job helping me understand the material. His lectures are informative, and he goes through things step by step. However, he grades hard. He takes off points if you forget to italicize a few variables in the homeworks! He gives partial credit, which is great, on tests and quizzes. This class is lots of work but he makes it painless.
Professor Clark is a tough teacher, and not at all fair. We recieved a D on a project we workd on for 6 weeks simply because we came to the wrong conclusion, but not noting the 25 hours of work we did for the rest of it. He only reads off the powerpoint, and is only helpful if you go to office hours. There are tons of online quizzes and 3 tests.
This class is very hard and it doesn't help that Scott is the hardest math 115a teacher. He is unfair in grading. This semester he gave everyone in my class a C on the project.
Hardest grader I've ever had. I spent 3 days straight on a 26 paper project that received a C. I got A's on all the tests and still received a C in the class. DONT GET HIM.
Extremely difficult class to get an A or B in. I am a very diligent student and in this Pre-Calculus class (which I got an A in High School) I received a D despite missing only a few classes, spending at least 4 hours Mr. Clark outside of class, and studying. He is helpful, but then everyone still does HORRIBLE on his exams. Avoid him!
This class killed my gpa. KILLED IT. Math tends to be one of my strong points, but i worked pretty hard and barely got a C.basically, the amount of useless work you'll do, will replace any actual math you want to learn. He is helpful, but SUCH a tough grader!!! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS, i am not some slacker trying to give him a bad rep, DONT TAKE IT!
This class is for people who suck at math and cannot handle the regular math classes. So if you suck at math you can take this class and get by at University of Arizona. If you can't get a decent grade in 115 then you are mathematically illiterate.
HARDEST GRADER TO WALK THIS PLANET.
HE CLEARLY HAS NO FRIENDS.... STILL HAS PROBLEMS FROM HIGH SCHOOL...HE IS THE WORST GRADER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE... HE SITS AT HOME ON A FRIDAY NIGHT TO GRADE OUR PAPERS...DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!THANK YOU SCOTT FOR A GREAT SUMMER 1.
To sum everything up Scott is a GOOD teacher who grades REALLY harshly and teaches the WORST class at the u of a. I'm not sure how much of this class is Scott's fault and how much is the math departments.
The class is kind of boring at times but if you tuff it out it should be an easy A. I dont understand why everyone struggles in this class the test are just like the D2L quizzes and he tells you step by step how to do the projects. Mr. clark is a great teacher and he is not the one to blame for your inability to listen to directions.
Scott is a great teacher and makes this horribly boring class bearable. However he is an extreemly harsh grader and is not always fair with the grading. Math 115A is the worst class i have ever had to take. But if you have to take it then i suggest you take it with Scott Clark.
He really, truly is the WORST teacher. He doesn't care about his students at all, and gives them poor grades to feel better about himself. He knows how to teach the material, but grades WAY too harshly. It's his way or no way. I do NOT recommend him.
When you come to the UofA everyone will tell you to not take math on campus. I didn't listen to them and it was the biggest mistake. The math department at the University of Arizona is terrible. I have never seen any organization run so unorganized and useless in my life. And Scott could care less if every student failed. Careless and rude teache
if your life isn't all about math 112, to scott, you don't have a will to live. no matter how hard i try i still cant pass a single test and i got mostly B's in math in high school. scott told me after he knew how hard i was trying "tough luck, i don't know what to tell you." Hes made me despise this school. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Mr. Clark is definitely knowledgeable in his subject area, however he's a big pain. He is not very helpful, condescending, and frankly loves to fail kids. I got a high B in this class but his teaching style is not for me. I'd suggest finding a different algebra teacher.
He is a really hard homework grader, but most of the tests are easier then the homework. He never stops talking, so it's hard to determine when he's teaching or just blabbing. However, he is literally in his office ALL the time and encourages students to come in for help.
Honestly, Mr. Clark is an amazing teacher!! He was often available and sooo helpful. Even when I went on to other math teachers at the UA I still went into his office hours because he truly cared and explains things clearly. TAKE HIM! don't listen to the other people...if you're not lazy you'll do fine.
Scott is a great instructor. Sarcastic at times, but very direct and to the point. Is ALWAYS available for tutoring unless he specifically says so (and always well in advance). If youre not lazy and attend class regularly, you will be fine.
Not an easy class. If you try to learn the material and actually review it you will end up doing well and possibly an A. The one thing that sucks about this class is that his exams (multiple choice section) is heavily weighted about 5 to 6 points per question.
I think he is a stellar teacher but the material is generally hard to grasp if you already suck at math. Study his powerpoints, do well on the projects and then pray that you don't mess up on tests and you could* end up with an A but not very likely.
If you enrolled in math to give several presentations, take extremely hard tests, have written homeworks due every week that are about 5 pages on microsoft word, and write up presentations over 20 pages in length, sign yourself up and enjoy this class. Scott is a good teacher, but he makes this class way harder than it has to be.
I had Professor Clark for Math 112. So far, he's pretty good at teaching. The written homeworks are pretty hard but the rest of the assignments are online and those are pretty easy to cheat on. Algebra is easy to me so this class isn't difficult. He is a funny guy but his class is boring. half of the class is usually testing.
Professor Scott is a great professor. I already suck at math but he gives you all the tools you need for success. Study guides are almost similar to exams, just value changes. ATTEND HIS STUDY SESSIONS. Got a C but I already suck at math. Got C's and B's on exam cause I did study sessions and asked him for help. Take him!
Professor Clark is one of the best teachers I have had. This class definitely takes handwork, but if you do well on all the assignments (he drops twelve of them!!) you can get a pretty good grade. Tests are hard but Clark has no problem spending hours in his office working each problem through.
The Scott Clark was one of the bests teachers I have ever had. Although I rated the class as very easy, it was still hard work, but that is where Mr. Clark comes in. His lectures are clear and easy to follow, and he can explain concepts very well. He wrote the tests and finals himself, and can help you with the concepts on the test.
Scott Clark was overall a really great teacher. Super nice during his office hours and definitely helps when you need clarification of a subject and concisely works out the problem. Notes are all printed out and you basically follow along with examples which allows you to really focus on the material. I would take him again if I could!
Math 112 is a very difficult course for most people. Scott Clark is the head of the math 112 department so if you have w to take the class make sure you get him. I got a C but he's still the best math teacher i've had. Take advantage of office hours. Don't fall behind because the workload for the course is heavy.
Math sucks, but Scott was a great teacher. He really made sure everyone understood it before moving on. Generally a nice guy and is super helpful if you need to go to office hours. He will go over your entire project line by line to make sure everything is correct. If you have to take math, take it with Scott.
He has a very clear formula for class which makes it easier if you struggle with math. He goes over all the notes and walks you through each step. He is very helpful during office hours, and that was one of the things that really helped my grade when I was struggling. He is a really nice guy and he likes telling dad jokes during his lectures.
Do not take this class. You will fail. Doesnt matter how smart you are or what you do to try and pass, you will fail. Scott Clark knows little to nothing and its evident. He lacks care for what he does/his students. Save yourself, do not take this class with him. You will cry constantly.
He is the kind of professor that you can tell that he knows what he's talking about and wants everyone to understand perfectly every topic, he's considerate and always gives us the best tools to prepare for the exams that are actually a little hard but if you do his practice tests you'll do fine. Also, he is always available to help with hw
Alright so hes a great teacher that takes time explaining problems and shows he knows what hes talking about. As for the negative reviews. Most are from basic math classes. So the people taking these classes are more than likely pretty dumb to be taking these classes at all so guess what? Dumb people suck at math not matter the teacher quality
A great guy, but this semester I felt like I had to teach myself most of the time. He showed pre-recorded lectures during class time & that was it. Quiz/Test/Assignments are all due relatively close to each other and frequently. Not a lot of time on Quizzes (proctored). Class should be easy, but hard to learn this way by myself. No makeups at all.
He is really good at teaching but is not forgiving of late homework and missed quizzes.
He knows what he is talking about for sure, but there is very little lenience on homework, missing a quiz, etc. The class is not difficult but you have to pay attention to do well. The tests are a very accurate representation of what we have learned, but are worth 65% of the final grade. He also makes himself very available outside of class.
By far the absolute worst class that I have ever taken. This man should be your last choice.
Good professor but it feels like he is grading really harshly considering we are still in a global pandemic. Every homework has taken me at least 2 hours and I have failed each one of them despite asking for help on each of them, also can feel too lecture heavy and disorganized over zoom... not cool.
His lecture videos make zero sense and his grading makes no sense at all.
I recommend taking Scott for math 112. he goes over his pre-recorded videos of example problems getting solved and posts them in d2l to go back to on your own time. from what I've heard, other professors don't offer this tool, which is very unexpected considering how much I used the videos. this class was easier than expected with Scott.
I loved Scott as a professor! Just listen to his lectures and go to class! He is a super nice guy and he makes his grading very clear that there is no extra credit and late homework. It wasnt that bad with those rules because if you go to his office hours, he will help you with everything on your homework or any questions you have in general.
Though he is a good teacher and very accessible outside of class, which is very nice, he grades very very hard and is very picky about what he likes. 100% need the class notes and to attend class even though it isn't mandatory.
Prof. Clark is an incredible teacher. He explains things clearly and answers any/all questions. He genuinely cares and knows his students by name. Attendance is optional, but I highly suggest you go bc if you don't, you probably will not pass the tests. Also, he kinda gives Arwin from Suite Life of Zack and Cody vibes in the best possible way.
Class can be pretty dull but Clark teaches the material well and clearly knows the course. He's clear about expectations (NO EXTRA CREDIT) but is very receptive to helping students who try.
I took this class with about 30 people total. He is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. Key word there was "teacher." Other than that, don't bother trying to get on his good side. He gives 0 extra credit and makes no exceptions. He is extremely organized both in class and outside. NOTHING IS ON D2L. Beware of the hw turn-in process.
Math 112 is already hard enough, and with no extra credit opportunities this class is impossible. Professor talked about covid for 10 out of 50 minutes of each class, which took away from learning. This class you just have to get lucky with, and i did not.
Professor Clark is a great instructor. Very knowledgeable, and always available to help outside of class if necessary. Math 112 has a lot of homework and frequent tests, but you can do it if you study diligently. I have a wonderful quote I'd like to share from class before I finish my review. "Put away all cell phones, remove earbuds"
An okay teacher but the class is designed to screw you. The homework has a tedious process involving printing every single assignment and the homework is due at 5:00 PM which makes it easy to forget (no d2l posts either so either remember or rip). He also schedules quizzes and tests around days where students are likely to miss such as Thanksgiving
Scott is a good teacher, kinda quirky personality, but the class itself is hard. He is fair grader but absolutely no extra credit and yes there will be class, HW and/or quizzes right before or after a break. Grades are pretty much dependent on 3 tests and final exam. Study guides for tests aren't great but Scott is a good teacher nonetheless.
Clark was kind and easy to ask for help, and very good at teaching. Attendance isn't mandatory but I recommend going! His course is also clearly laid out at the beginning of the semester w/ clear guidelines. No extra credit and the majority of your grade is exam based but he teaches the material really well you just have to be willing to learn.
He was so willing to work with you and help you with whatever you needed. You can tell he really cares. The pace of the class is fairly slow. I would 100% take him again. No extra credit, if you put in the work you will do good.
His teaching style worked great for me. I found him funny. He talks a lot but really super nice and smart. Absolutely recommend!
Runs a very well organized class, gives you basically every material you could possibly need to succeed. I remember on the first day of class he said that we were lucky he was our professor and I thought he was gonna be awful, but honestly he was right. He knows this class like the back of his hand.
His teaching style didn't work for me. You take notes and listen to him lecture for the majority of the semester. He doesn't go into detail about the basic concepts you NEED to understand in order to be successful for the rest of the class. The exams are hard and worth the majority of your grade, so if you struggle w/ math, I don't recommend him.
He is a COVID freak. Very liberal and political, he will spend the first 20 minutes of class discussing his views on public health...
Mr. Clark spends the first 20 minutes of each class going over all the assignments due that week and then proceeds to spend the rest of the 30 minutes explaining each definition of each word in a math problem, without even showing us how to solve the problem. Each day, I have to teach myself how to solve the problem on ALEKS.
Lots of HW on paper at 6 PM deadlines. Hw on aleks+ paper. Quizes and homework does nothing for your grade. Tests and finals are all that matter.
Im taking Mr Clark now and he is such a good teacher, I have struggled with Math forever and even though the class itself is a lot, he makes it easy for the students and makes the questions that we ask be answered in a very clear way, he makes topics clear and is very funny! Im glad I got a nice and understanding professor for this class.
Scott's class can get a little tedious, as he spends most of it talking about things that aren't math, but he's a really great teacher when he's actually doing it. 75% of your grade is 4 tests, which is annoying, but Scott does a great job of teaching the material so it's not as stressful - a good class, and he wants you to succeed
Class with him is a confusing lecture, just note-taking. He has no humor, and irrelevant rants about random things. The material's tough without prior knowledge. The tests take up most of your grade, and are very hard. He also says he thinks this website is stupid because his reviews are negative.
Nice guy but all written hw must be done printed out and by hand and grades these super hard. In class, the first 15 mins every day will be spent looking at the schedule and you might get through 4 problems in a class because he takes all day. Exams matter so much. Sometimes will assign 40+ aleks topics without saying anything..... no fun
His teaching style ruined my GPA. He yaps about nonsense and rants all the time about things that aren't related to math. Do not recommend taking this course.
Overall, Scott is a nice and caring guy, but he spends a lot of time talking about random things and often goes off topic. He doesn't give any extra credit and the written/aleks homeworks have a solid deadline and are worth basically nothing of your grade, so you really only have to put all of your energy into the 3 major exams and the final.
If you are not great at math, do not take his class. Honestly if you aren't Einstein, don't take it either. I was average at math in high school, got all As. This professor made me go home and wonder how math is even a thing. The class is straight up horrible and you are not going to learn anything. He tests heavy, no extra credit. Good luck.
Mr. Clark was a great teacher who seemed to actually care about his student's understanding of the criteria and their success. Attendance is absolutely mandatory and quiz makeups are rare and classes are never cancelled. Great teacher but if you don't plan on showing up to class often, this is not for you. Homework is heavy but some get dropped.
He's a caring guy; always mentions his office hours, will work with you through a problem after class and has his students' best interests in mind. Definitely a homework heavy class, and test/quizzes make up most of the grade, but if you put in the work it's worth it. Forewarning: no extensions on anything and no late work is graded.
Most of his lectures is him skimming through a problem and instead of explaining he will say "because Scott says so". Every Friday the last ten minutes of class you will have a quiz or a worksheet that is used for your attendance (none of my friends professors do this in math 112.) I would not take this class again ever.
Scott has some cheesy jokes and is very empathetic and caring towards students. Yes, there can be a lot of homework but considering he's been here teaching this class for a while, it's because he knows what to expect and wants his students to do well. At least this semester, some homework and quizzes were dropped so just do your work and show up.
Scott is the only teacher I have had that made me want to do math. He explains every concept and topic simply and always makes time to help his students. The dude also makes the funniest jokes in class. The only downside is the course itself is graded almost solely on exams, homework counts for almost nothing
You will only pass with an A if you get 100's on all three exams and score good on the final. The rest of the material in the course is not worth a lot and will barely count in your final grade. Teacher is alright at explaining the practice problems...a lot of group work and Aleks. Would be best if you're familiar with some of the Math 112 concepts
Mr. Clark was a great math teacher that explained everything in detail and helped prepare his students well for the tests. He knows exactly what to focus on and makes it very easy to succeed in his class. There are in class quizzes and group activities each week that reinforce the topics and let students know what they need to work on.
Absolutely despised this man. All he does is notes and constantly talk and it literally doesn't teach me anything.
He was a good professor and he helped me out when I went to office hours. However, during class he spent a lot of time trying to make jokes instead of teaching. He also explained some concepts in a long and confusing way that made it even less clear. Going to office hours helped a bit, but his explanations were still a little confusing.
I can't speak for in person courses, but for online this professor is horrific. tons of homework, hours and hours that only amount to only 10% of your grade. ridiculously picky grader. Frankly, he didn't teach a thing. simply assigned mountains of homework and outdated videos. Also, very very snarky with students.
