Really interesting class. Lots of examples, analogies and stories. No need to take notes though, and that might mean sleeping time. But if you memorize his notes, you'll get 100%. One of the best profs I've met.

want the A+??, do one thing; MEMORIZE his lecture notes and ur GUARANTEED the A+. Ps, throw the text out for his half!

The BEST prof at U of W! Hilarious and very intelligent; he tells funny stories of his kids that somehow relate to biology! YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIS COURSE! Study the notes and you'll get an A+!

Extremely funny, charismatic and open to students. You have to buy the lecture notes to take his class,they're only 6 bucks:reasonable. Very clear, concise, and has an excellent sense of humour. Once he learns your name you can drop by years later and you're still his friend. Exams are easy if you study a little. Willing to help students any time!

Very good professor that is very funny. He is always availabe if you need help and he goes out of his way to make sure that everyone understands the lecture material. Would recomment to anyone who wants to have a fair chance at a biology course. Hope to get him for higher level biology in the future.

Loves to joke around, keeps you awake and interested during lecture. EXTREMELY dedicated to the subject. His lecture notes are AWESOME, a great study guide! Very helpful, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Seriously, Q and T.... just don' do it. There were 15 people in the class, and 15 people who didn't know what the heck was going on. Studying for the final was a joke because we really didn't learn anything. How can you learn stats without actually doing Stats? This question still confuses me.

great prof! if you read his notes, and go to lecture the exams are soooo easy. textbook use isnt needed. posts sample questions before exams and they are on the exam. HIGHLY recommended

Fantastic prof. Especially having him in a small class was great, it felt more like we were all talking about the subjects. We learned a lot, and the exams were fair and easy if you read the powerpoints and textbook. Evolutionary Biology was a great course and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in Biology.

Don't really need the textbook. Just study the slides.. It was really hard to pay attention during lectures. Most of the time I'd just fall asleep..

The best teacher i have ever had, and probably ever will, he is really funny and interesting to listen to, has plenty of knowledge and really cool stories to tell. I recommend this teacher to everyone.

Good professor! He tells some interesting stories but his lectures are often fairly dull. Don't need a textbook as you only need to know what's in his slides. He provides a lot of resources and gives very fair exams.

I reaaaaally like him as a person, I didn't enjoy the lectures though. He talks SO fast and not everything he says is necessary to the exam. However, I found his exams easy and fair. I suggest taking his class.

He was a great teacher. He's always hinting about what his favourite questions are on exams and tells rather funny stories during lecture. He was by far the best professors I've had and recommend everyone take his class because its pretty easy. You dont need a textbook at all, you can just learn off his slides.

Best prof I have had. Great sense of humor and wants everyone to do good. Relates complicated concepts to real life. Will tell you exactly what will be on the exam and what is not important. His power points are awesome so you barely have to refer to the textbook. Definitely reccmend him.

He makes this biology course interesting to go to! Super easy and clear expectations with very fair multiple choice tests. The best professor I have encountered at my years at U of W. By far the most interesting biology course I've taken, the material is extremely easy to comprehend. His notes and the textbook material are identical.

Hilarious prof, very relatable and always telling stories that relate to the lecture material! Exams weren't difficult, and the exams had many questions taken off the practice exams he gave us! Made very dry material as interesting as he could. I would definitely take another class with him! Don't bother buying textbook, just study his powerpoints

Absolutely awesome prof. Probably the best prof I've had in my first two years here. Funny, wants students to succeed. Lectures are not mandatory, neither is textbook, just read his slides that he posts on nexus. Will definitely be taking whatever class I can with him!!

i'm not gonna lie and say 2451 was a breeze. each concept alone was easy, but there were so many that it may be difficult to organize all the animals/theories in your head. if that's your thing, then take it! there were some tricky questions on the exams, but totally doable. i studied about 2 days for each midterm and a weekend for the final.

His tests are fair, however you do need to work hard and study, as there is so much material that is covered. His tests are straight forward, the questions are all very clear what they're asking for. He gives hints about what will be on the exam in class, but going isn't mandatory. He sometimes makes funny jokes

-awesome, funny, engaging! -no txtbook needed, his clear pwrpoint notes are sufficient. -Lectures can be long cause my class is 75 min (he will talk nonstop for that long & can be tiring, sometimes he will show funny educational videos) - fair test questions. gave 0.5 marks for some, gave bonus marks, makes sure you get every mark you deserve.

He's a great prof! Especially for the marking. For the midterm, he gave half marks for any questions that could've been answered with another choice from the mulitple choice. Hes super helpful and makes his lectures and exams fun!

Dr. Forbes is a natural speaker, conveying information in a fluent, concise and clear manner. He knows the material well and is a very forgiving marker. He has a great sense of humour, though I didn't find him as personable 1 on 1. Loves what he does and is very active in field work. Overall, an excellent, polished prof.

Dr Forbes was the BEST biology prof. He made bio 1116 into a class I actually enjoyed attending. His test are very detailed, so it is important to study the material in depth, but as long as you put in the time and effort, you can do extremely well! He also handed back our midterm exams to us, so we could see and learn from the mistakes we made :)

His exams may seem easy because you will see questions that are on the practice test. But some questions are in depth, or random sentences from his powerpoint that you particularly won't remember but have read a few times.

Great prof! Knows how to make long lectures interesting and really seems to love what he does. There is a lot of material but as long as you study the lectures, the midterm and final you will be fine because they have all you need to know.

Scott is one of the best profs ive ever had. He was my instructor for a first year bio course and when a lot of his students were struggling with the lab component, he raised the marks becuase he said he hates it when people do badly. His lectures are full of jokes, and the way he talks makes it easy to remember all the little details.

The most reasonable and accommodating prof I've ever had. He wants his students to succeed and gives them every opportunity and resource to do so. All notes and info on Nexus and lectures are clear, interesting and funny. Uses short videos and personal anecdotes to supplement lectures. Relevant examples and current research included. The best 10/10

Dr. Forbes is very passionate and knowledgable about what he is teaching. He wants his students to do well. He has lots of interesting and funny stories that make the class enjoyable. He showed some funny videos and also ones that were helpful for understanding the material. As long as you pay attention and study you'll do well in the course.

I took his bio during my first year of university and honestly its set my standards for the rest of my time here. I love him so much he is by far the best teacher ive ever had. try going to every class cause there are things he talks about that isnt in the slides(not much tho). Also he makes it fun so why would you even want to skip!?

He is a hilarious professor, makes coming to class interesting! He also tells you during your lectures what will be on exams, so if you simply pay attention he gives hints to what kind of questions you will be tested on. I wasn't a fan of the class because of the topics but he made it way more enjoyable. 100% recommend.

Dr. Forbes is a fun professor to have, he always enjoys sharing his own stories that relate with the lecture topic and shows plenty of informative videos. The class lectures are lots of fun and his inappropriate/childish humour mixed in with personal opinions gathered from his studies was always interesting and made coming to class very exciting.

Dr. Forbes is really considerate of his students. He makes the lectures, tests, and exam really easy because of the fact that the lab sucks. I've never used my textbook either because he only tests you on things based on his slides. His lectures are interesting to read and his stories are a fantastic way to learn! Take BIOL116 with him!!

Dr Forbes is a great lecturer, keeps it interesting and funny plus the man just has a fantastic speaking voice. The lecture portion of the course isn't too hard, but the lab portion is very detailed and requires a good amount of studying to get a decent mark.

Has amazing lectures. Always makes an effort to make every session interesting. Very considerate. He knows students are getting a lower mark in the lab portion so he tries to help students as much as he can. Really caring. he wants his students to succeed.

Super nice guy that actually cares about his students. Even when classes moved online, he did his best to make online video lectures to help us out. He gives very fair exams, and is very funny too. 10/10 would take again.

Dr. Forbes is the best at what he does. It is evident that his primary goal is to deliver high-quality lectures 100% of the time, which he does. He was also extremely empathetic towards us students during the COVID-19 pandemic, and did everything he could to ensure we weren't affected negatively by it. He loves it when students do well!!!!

It is a content-heavy class, but his lectures/slides are very thorough and he does a good job of explaining everything. Really caring and accommodating; wants all of his students to succeed. Everything you need for the tests are on the slides. To study, read through the slides VERY THOROUGHLY. Memorize the concepts AND specific species examples.

Dr. Forbes was an awesome prof. He kept lectures interesting and always reminds you that he has your back when it comes to grading and grade distribution. He responds to emails promptly, and during the COVID-19 pandemic he gracefully transitioned to online classes with informative narrated lectures. No complaints.

Great prof! Probably the most interesting lecture i have ever had. Dr. Forbes knows an obscene amount. Any question asked and he seems to know the answer layers deeper than you expect. So many interesting examples and components to this course. Very clear about tests as well, you will be ready. But come to class, don't miss out!

Dr. Forbes is clearly passionate about the subject, but I find his lectures are sometimes a bit dry and disorganized. He is incredibly knowledgeable, though. His exams are INCREDIBLY easy, almost no studying required for the online course, as he makes the tests open book. He adjusts the grades if many students did poorly. Easiest professor ever.

Forbes is the model that all other profs should follow. His lectures were engaging, personal, clear and easy to follow. I am in uni to be a teacher and I will absolutely be using some of his own teaching practices in my classroom. you can not go wrong with this prof!

I took Forbes class last year for BIOL 1116 and am now in his Intro to Animal Behaviour Class. For both of them being online classes the lectures are always engaging and fun. The tests are always fair. I did not need the textbooks

One of the best professors I've had. His lectures are organized and interesting and he is extremely kind. The course is graded by very few things, only two midterms and a final exam, but each test is super fair and you will do well as long as you watch the lectures and study. I would highly recommend taking any course with him, especially this one!

Entertaining prof, posts all the slides, and will often mention things that will be tested. Very easy class, but lab is very difficult, so Scott is a good lecturer to have to balance your grade out.

Professor Forbes was one of my fav profs ever. This was an online course, and tests and exams are weighted high, and had both easy and thinking questions. Great lectures, and this course was one of the more easy biology courses. Would take every course with him given the chance!

best professor, lectures are always engaging and fun to listen to. his exams are extremely easy and he gives alternative options and dates for midterms and finals if you arent prepared or cant make it. the lab for this course on the other hand is insanely hard so having a good lecture prof is good!

The lab is rough, so I rec taking Forbes for the lecture to boost your grade. Tests are exactly what he says in class. Lecture slides were helpful. Can get boring but he tries to keep it engaging. Very laid-back + chill guy. Only MC lecture tests. Go to class / watch his online videos of lectures. He tells you exactly what will be tested.

His exams follow his lecture slides very closely, but I still recommend reading the txtbook for additional info. He only grades on three things; 2 midterms + final exam. Tests are open book though!
