He is very passionate about the material, gives test reviews which comes from the test. Very entertaining, the class went by so quickly. I read some of the textbook and got an A.
Gives test reviews from the test, fun and interesting class. He is very passionate about the material.
He is a great prof. I liked him a lot and he is a very good speaker. Plus he also shows a lot of videos. Sometimes he would let us leave class early. As far as testing goes he gives you study guides and reviews before hand. Study and you can get an A in the class pretty easy. Pretty strict about reading so either google the topics or read before
Best professor I have ever had! I took a Monday night class for 6:00-8:50 pm, class was long but he would let us out early if we covered all the material. His lectures are interesting and he is passionate about what he is teaching. He provides study guides that go along with his lectures and the book. If you do the study guide test are easy!
This guy is loud, clear, and hilarious. I took his tuesday night class and he made it so relaxing. Time flys in the class and the tests are exactly what he teaches in the lectures. I am upset i can't find a 1302 class with him -.-"
The best professor I had so far!
I took Galler for a summer semester and it was great. I'm pretty terrible when at Social Studies classes, but this was pretty easy. We had 4 tests and he gives out reviews for each test. Most of what's on the review is on the test, but sometimes what he says isn't correct. When in doubt for an answer, the textbook is correct.
Best Professor by far. Never opened the book once, but if you go to every class and pay attention you can easily get an A! I wish he taught another class! Highly recommend!
He is a great professor. He makes class interesting and is always available to talk and help if you need to after class. He helped me so much this semester and was so understanding when I had to miss class that he helped me catch up and get what i needed to to pass. I hated history and this is by far my favorite class ive ever taken while in school
Take him!! I wasn't at all strong in this subject matter and got better as the semester went along. SG does everything he can to make the class fun and enjoyable. Not only that he is so personable and just one of the best Prof at ACC. Took him from 1301 and taking him again for 1302. He also wants to see all his students be successful. Great man!
Scott Galler's lectures are something to behold. He does a great job of covering the topic at hand (provided you read the book) while talking about sports. While the reading can be optional, I made a C because I barely even touched the book. If you do the reading, this class is an easy A. He tries to get you to pass instead of failing you.
This class was the best decision of my life. Took a summer session and on the first day he told us he wasn't going to assign an essay since he knew we wouldn't want to write them, and that he'd decided to wrap up the course early and give the last test the day before the session ended. Gives so much extra credit, interesting lectures, overall A++++
I took HIST 1301 and 1302 with Professor Galler. He really makes history interesting and enjoyable with his great sense of humor. He's the best professor I've had and I'm sad this is my last class with him.
Galler's charisma and enthusiasm for history is infectious and it shows when attending his class. This man is very eccentric, but in a refreshingly personable and positive way. He is extremely fair with grading but definitely pay attention to lectures. Be prepared for an energetic, inspired, respectable, and entertaining professor.
Professor Galler really makes history interesting and enjoyable with his great sense of humor. He's a wonderful professor would take him again. I didn't use the book and made an A in the class just pay attention to the lectures. Gives out study guides to help you prepare for the test.
Professor Galler was by far the best professor Ive had. He was awesome! Hes funny and makes history fun. He loves sports. He provides a lot of very good videos on what were covering. He teaches in chronological order and tells you about each year and each presidency. No essays, test are easy if you take notes and pay attention.
I took Mr. Galler for both History 1301 and 1302. He has great lectures and has very interesting discussions. I loved going to his class. His quizzes were tough, because they were very specific and no partial credit. His tests were easier and as long as you did his review and listened to his lectures you could pass. Read the book. Got A's.
Galler spends most of class time making mostly unrelated jokes. Once he went down a bunny trail for 40 minutes. Because he barely covers anything in class, you have to read the textbook to pass the tests. Even if you read the textbook don't think you'll know everything, he's horrific at writing text questions. Once gave 14 pts because he messed up.
The best professor I've had at Austin Community College, he's exceptionally funny and caring too. Makes you want to show up to his class everyday and makes the subject easier. Tests are off the study guide and it's an amazing class. Highly recommend him.
Took him for HIST 1302 and he's by far the best history professor one could ask for. Tests are fairly easy and makes jokes in class to create a fun environment. Allows everyone to participate. If he's super happy he'll give you extra credit for free.
Professor Galler is hilarious, he makes US History really enjoyable. His tests and quizzes are really easy. If he teaches another history class, I would take him for sure.
Took HIST 1301 & 1302 from Galler, and to PFH students and ACC alike, y'all are going to be entertained! At least skim through chapters for quizzes and tests. You won't be bored and he's relatively easy. He keeps lectures engaging and relevant. He doesn't have powerpoints but keeps lectures interactive. Huge Cubs fan as well. Huge.
Mr. Galler is forsure a character. Theres no doubt you wont be entertained. He has a few quizzes but he allows you to use the notes you take on the chapters. Easy A if you read the chapters.
Great Professor
Relatable and genuine
Best professor on campus.
He's a freakin huge fan of the cubs
he's great
Professor Galler was a really good teacher who explained the concepts well and some points he would ask questions and if you got them right, you earn extra credit. I would just say to read the chapters before the lectures are given and take some good notes. These will help you on the quiz. The test matches the study guide questions. No essays!
He's a funny professor. Loves the Chicago Cubs. His lectures are informative and very interesting. Overall class is enjoyable. Easy A. Just go to class, take notes, study, and you're good to go.
I loved this class! I took it in the summer, an 8 week course, once a week. I would definitely recommend taking this class in the summer. You will have to read a lot, but his test reviews are very close to the test. If i had studied harder, i would have gotten an A. He gives open note quizzes, so make sure you take notes!
Professor Galler is super funny and knows history very well. His classes are mainly lecture but they are almost never boring. He jokes around a lot and gets to know his students. The history is easy to understand the way he frames it and there is not a lot of homework. Tests are somewhat easy.
Hes a funny and great teacher, makes class seem easy when it actually requires a ton of work
Great teacher, answers questions when asked, has a great sense of humor. However some days you can tell when he's in a bad mood. And when someone doesn't read the book , he wont call call you out but he'll call you out ya know what i mean? But he's cool nethertheless.
One of the best professors I've ever taken. He manages to make history fun with his humor and lectures. You will have to read a bit to get an A in the class but he has extra credit opportunities, open notes quizzes, and relatively easy tests (if you read of course). I found that looking at the review of each chapter is super helpful!
Amazing teacher who makes all the lectures fun and active. Makes you actually want to go to class just to hear his bad puns and silly jokes. 10/10 would take again
Professor Galler is AMAZING!!!! His lectures are hilarious, and you learn so much! I was never a history person until I took his class. He is also very caring and easy to talk to. You will WANT to go to class every day! 10/10 would recommend.
Makes lectures fun which is rare, I had him for 1301 and 1302 and if I could have him for every class I would. In my once a week class attendance was mandatory, and we had an online textbook which you would have to read to initially pass the tests. Overall though, he makes the learning easy and during the lectures makes sure everyone understands
Galler is awesome. Most of the class is reading the textbook as all quizzes and tests are just straight out of the material. If you can read, take notes, and remember the facts you'll pass.
I would give anything to have him as a professor again. He is hilarious & plays funny videos & interesting songs to help the class better comprehend the material. His lectures arent canned & you will actually feel as if you are absorbing the info, even if you arent typically big on history. I used to dread history class until I took his course.
He's a good person and loves teaching, however, he goes on long tangents that are not relevant to the class. He would monitor how much we read the online textbook for our homework grade, so don't get the paperback version. His teaching methods overall made me feel like I was back in high school, which is extremely discouraging as a college student.
EXTREMELY difficult class. Tests are made with the intention of failing you. Don't like reading? Don't take this class. Extremely funny, but the trade-off is that you don't get enough information in preparation for the test.
Very passionate lecturer. However, the difficulty of his tests make no sense for an entry level course. If we were a class of history majors it wouldn't be so bad, but we're not. Don't take his class if you have a full course load and want an A. 10+ hours studying to receive a B/C on a test is messed up.
Geller is the BEST history teacher/professor that I have ever had. History comes very difficult for me to learn, but Galler made his lectures so much fun. He used a lot of videos that it easier for me to comprehend what was being taught. You have to do the homework, which is reading a short chapter in our online textbook, but they are easy. 10/10!!
Best history professor I've ever had. Go to class, read the chapters and you will find yourself with at least a B. He makes history interesting and fun. You will not regret being in his class. There are quizzes every class but they are open note, so take good notes. I wish all my ACC prof's we as good as he is.
Ms. Faller was a great professor, super interactive and funny. He was very caring and taught in a way that was easy to understand. He let you use notes on quiz and his lectures are fun!
Best professor ever. Period
Galler was awesome. He is very passionate which make learning the material exciting and fun. Yes you have to read but its history? What do you expect? His reviews are actually good just study them and you will get a A on your tests. Its not a hard class its fun. Highly recommend him.
I hate history! But Galler makes it entertaining and easy to relate to. Lots of reading and you want to read the entire chapter before going to class. His lectures are informative and entertaining and covers all the highlights of the assigned chapter for that week. He is an amazing professor. He is so good that I'm taking his HIST-1302 in Spring.
Best one yet!!
If I knew about him prior to now, I'd have taken his class sooner. The class, while only once a week, is entertaining and fun. You'll get reviews for each test one week prior to it. If you get the chance to take him, take him. Huge Baseball fan, specifically the Chicago Cubs.
If you've looking for a US History class that won't make you fall asleep, take Galler! This is the best ACC class I've ever taken. Read a chapter each week from the textbook and then there's a quiz usually the week following. His oral lectures are what he pulls all his quiz questions from, you can use notes on quizzes so be smart about notes!
Galler is the History prof to take, no questions asked! Really fun teacher & always nice to students. Read a chapter each week, a quiz every other week followed by a test of 2-4 chapters the week after. The study guide is the test so make sure to read through that. Notes are IMPORTANT, follow his lectures & you'll pass if you actually try. GO CUBS
Took it online and he such a stingy grader! You can fully answer a discussion board prompt and he will STILL take points off because you didn't go in-depth to the specific area he thought was interesting. If you want an A, brush up on your mind-reading skills. Tests are difficult and worded strangely. Course content is not difficult still got a B+
Be ready to read and not get any productive feedback! He is a very "not my problem" or "that's a personal problem" type of professor. He is very tough on grading Blog posts and any other written responses. No extra credit. All test are timed (90 minutes). Any online learning technical difficulties, he does not care. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Kind professor but the exams are somewhat difficult with complex details that you only know if you live and breath on the textbook from Revel. He definitely makes you work for the grade, but he is willing to provide help with videos (no time) and the blogs are super easy! This only depends on what platform you take the course- I took it online.
He is really good, but you have to read a lot, does not offer extra credit. Tests are 90 min long, but you will learn!
I took this class online with no lectures for 8 weeks. You do 2 chapters of weekly reading where only the end of chapter quizzes are graded / required. Along with that you have 1 discussion board a week with 1 post and 2 responses required (no sourcing required). 1 writing assignment / week. 4 exams (no lockdown browser). Overall great experience.
Galler was nothing but good for his accelerated 8 week semester. He was there when you needed him and made distance learning easy and manageable. Weekly updates with due dates were extremely helpful and course work was fairly easy when instructions were followed. Take his classes if you get the chance.
He is inconsiderate of people's feelings. He goes on rants unrelated to the topics for most of the lecture. The actual content is usually only 30-40 minutes worth. Not worth the time.
Overall a nice teacher! Yes he does go on side tangents, but they always relate to the topic. It was like a brain break for me. Quizzes every week, but they're only 10-13 questions. Super easy; but be prepared to read. In the lectures he doesn't always go EXTREMELY in depth, so you'll get the little tidbits of important info from the textbook.
grade is basically determined by the four 90 minute tests. Tests are strangely worded and irrelevant to the lectures. I would definitely not take another class by him
Very caring and funny, interactive, he will do his best for you to get what you need out of this class. You do need to read a bit, but you actually learn so much, it's so worth it.
One of the best professors I've had, his lectures are very helpful and entertaining. I have never been big on history, but he definitely made the class enjoyable. You will need to read the textbook to do well, but it is pretty easy to stay on top of (even in a short semester - which is what I took). Everyone should take his class!!
The structure and organization of this class were fantastic. All expectations and assignments were detailed at the beginning, and the criteria were clear and easy to follow. The lectures were fun and engaging and created interest in a class I typically dislike. There are some tests and a few essays, but they are easy to get A's on.
Homework consists of reading the textbook and end of chapter quizzes. 3 essays of 750 words. His lectures were fun and engaging. He's fond of telling dad jokes. Overall, great teacher for such a tedious subject.
Galler thr GOAT fr.
Galler will try to make dad jokes to make everyone more engaged and invested in the lectures as he realizes that the content may be bleak and repetitive at points. He teaches you the material very well and clearly expresses his policies regarding the course. However, he gets sidetracked while talking to his students and will wonder across topics.
great lectures, but you will have to read the textbook to do good on exams. do NOT forget the revel quizzes as there are no late grades/retakes.
He is very tough grader, and some might say a a little to hard. For starters give out any 100s for essays. He is always making inappropriate jokes in class that interrupt the class session. You get about 1-2 chapters every, 1 quiz a week, and 1 dq post a week. There are 2 essays in total. He is very short tempered.
Don't even get me started, he's so aggressive and disrespectful. It is impossible to get an A in the class as he does not accept any late work or redo's. Almost everyone in the class is struggling, currently the class average is 75%. His lectures are fully reused information from the reading, but only the unimportant parts that aren't on the test.
This teacher's grading policy is unlike others. For the writing assignments, he makes his stance clear that there is no chance of getting a 100. He made a speech about how to get a 100 on essays, the student would need to b ' a published selling author'. However, expectations are set clearly n upfront, I would just recommend a different professor.
He never shares an essay rubric, making it hard to score full points; even deducts 0.5 to not give full points. Offers clear outlines for exams, answers detailed history questions, but lectures can be lengthy and repetitive. Textbook purchase is necessary for embedded quiz grades; recommended only for those who prefer lecture-based learning.
Don't.
I took accelerated class, so was a little tough but not too tough. Lots of reading long textbook but they are very interesting. Weekly discussion boards that are well graded and two essays that are well graded. Exams are long but contain all the info from the textbooks. kind professor and the class was worth taking it accelerated.
It's just a no for me, don't have fun, don't enjoy lessons, no matter how hard you work it will never be enough, has a clear stance 100's will not be given. Personally not the class for me.
Jokes a lot, gave a few extra credit opportunities, and lectures well enough that you can typically pass without doing much of the reading. Clear and easy grading policy. However, you can never achieve full marks on an essay. He doesn't give them because "no one is a perfect writer". He can be tough, but it's a totally reasonable level.
AMAZING!! He's so funny and makes the lectures easy to understand and easy ways to memorize the material! If you don't show up to class then you'll most likely not do so well. The textbook was also easy to understand! He is also a Cubs fan !! GO CUBS!! YAY CHICAGO!!!
I took an online history course with professor Galler. The course itself required a lot of reading from an online textbook. The coursework was clearly outlined in the syllabus. He gave weekly reminders about deadlines. He's a fair grader. If you read the text, complete assignments on time (no late work is accepted) and don't use AI, you'll do well.
If you don't pay attention to the lectures, you won't pass this class. Same goes for the readings. His lectures are very hard to follow because he often goes off on tangents and doesn't stick to the original point. The tests were hard and hardly matched the study guide. He takes points off on papers simply because "nobody is perfect".
I'm sure he's great in person but a insane amount of reading, 10 min quizzes for 20 questions that you have to have a id and show your desk as well as having a camera on respondus (and you have to set it up for every quiz and test you take which there are a lot), Heavily recommend looking for a different proffesor.
DO NOT take the 5 week Summer class unless you want to be reading and taking notes every waking second of your day. I knew this class was accelerated but this is A LOT! The content itself isn't hard, and I would say he is a fair grader but be prepared to work all day every day for a passing grade.
discussion question+ 2-3 quizzes+ unit test for all 4 units 5 point extra credit in the beginning textbook is basically all u got so read read read i did it in the one month period which was the one month i was traveling, so i did rly bad so i dropped email replies are... yeah... well passable chill if u read the textbook tbh but i didnt so mb
Galler was literally the best. I hated History class growing up but he made class fun and I wanted to learn. 10/10 would take another of his classes. Makes me sad ACC wont give him more at the RR Campus :(
Don't listen to any of the bad ratings, Galler is an absolute saint! I despise US history with my whole being, yet his class was so incredibly fun and genuinely interesting. I learned so much despite rarely taking notes just because of his teaching style, and I absolutely adore him as a person as well. Take him if you can, you won't regret it!
I'm sure he's a fine professor in an actual classroom, but this class was awful online. Everything comes out of the textbook, which is the one thing you're told not to do as an educator if you want comprehension. Every test is locked down, too, and if you're like me and perform terribly under pressure, you WILL struggle.
Little to no feedback on essays or work. All reading came from a textbook which makes me wonder what he was there for. Maybe his in person classes are better but I wouldn't ever recommend taking him online.
This would be an easy course if it were any other professor. You are required to purchase the textbook, and that is the only learning material you get in the entire course. He is unhelpful and vague in the small amount of feedback he gives on the mandatory essay. He also deducts a minimum amount of points on everyone's paper for no reason.
Loved every moment
Galler is hilarious, but do the reading. The reading is essential for tests
Loved him.
Professor Galler is an amazing professor who has amazing methods to keeping his class interesting. It is definitely worth taking his class and paying attention to his lectures, he made it really interesting
Galler is a great Professor. Just do what is assigned, show up for class, and you will succeed. He is very funny and engaging. He cares a lot about his students. 10/10 would take again.
My favorite class by far. Professor Galler is very funny and engaging with the class, and I learned more than i thought I would, especially how relevant History still is today! I would recommend his class to everyone!
Great professor- hilarious and always brought the energy to class. Taught in a way that was easy to follow and understand. Extremely knowledgeable in history and always had time after or before class to talk to students about history or whatever fun thing happened. Cared about the students. All around great class!!
Professor Galler truly loves what he teaches, and it shows. His classes are energetic, funny, and full of great stories that make the material easy to understand and remember. He also focuses on strong study habits that help you succeed beyond his course. One of the most supportive, motivating, and genuinely helpful professors I've had.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. As long as you pay attention to the lectures, apply yourself, and keep up with the work you can definitely accomplish an A. Great person and great teacher, loved his lectures, made coming to class at 7:30pm something I looked forward to and not something I dreaded. 100% recommend one of his classes!
Galler is a very accommodating and helpful teacher. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and history. I have attention and focus issues, but he was very engaging throughout the lectures/reviews that I never got distracted. Not only was he engaging in class, but he would also send updates throughout digitally to keep students informed
Galler is an amazing professor. He is passionate about what he teaches and is very concerned about making sure students are understanding what is going on. He is responsive to emails and doesnt have issues helping students outside of class. He is a hilarious professor and keeps class entertaining. He uses the textbooks a lot so be ready to read!
I was worried about re-entering a school environment after not being in one for several years, but Galler's course was a great introduction to the structure of college. His expectations for students were clear cut and easy to achieve, with several resources to draw upon as supplementary to the course material. I would take a course by him again.
Every single history teacher I've had has been pretty great and Galler is no exception. He's a kind and caring dude that makes history interesting which is pretty damn hard to do. He adds 5 points of extra credit to every single test and there's plenty of others way to earn it too. Great teacher and I wish I could take him again!
I've had a pretty great record of history teachers, and honestly, Galler adds to the list. He was super hilarious and gave his ALL in his lectures, to the point I'd look forward to them. Very accommodating, and his testing procedures are structured and clear throughout. 100% would recommend:) Wish I could've taken him as my 1302 professor!
Tests and quizzes had really weird wording, such a hard grader for an early acc class. Wasn't fair.
Galler makes sure everyone is included and encourages people to participate without fear. His lectures are very informative and entertaining, circling things back to things going on in present times and how the past still affects us today. He is also a very understanding person and easy to talk to and is always willing to help. Highly recommend!!
