Pretty cool guy! Good lectures
He is crazy and fun, definately a relief after bonner was through teaching his section.
I heart gleeson.
he's teaching 100 lev human ecology and hes a botnist. it's so hard! he can't teach the materials, the text is a waste of money b/c he never uses it, everyone fails the tests b/c they are on such a high level than his teaching. he's a good guy in 152 but a sucky 102 teacher.
Let me tell you a little somethin about Scott Gleeson. He's just about the coolest Led Zeppelin lovin tree huggin hippie around, but...... he is so confusing and unclear.
pretty funny, but really confused teacher...i recommend the class, but study the slides he puts online for the tests...and above all else...do not buy the book, you will not use it
I only went to class on the days of the test and got an A. This is the easiest class I've taken here at UK! Everything is online the study guides, assignments, slides, so there is no reason to go to class. Just study the study guide and you'll do fine. Also he gives huge curves on the test.
i loved this class: so easy, all lecture notes are online, no pop quizzes or in-class assignments, attendance isn't mandatory. i went to class most of the time anyway because i loved his sense of humor and teaching style. it's a shame so many of the people in my class had no reading comprehension or study skills, they almost ruined my experience.
easy class, funny guy
Eeek. I wouldn't take this class again. He couldn't keep the attention of very many students. He's excited about the material, but doesn't know how to present it in an engaging manner. Simply hearing his voice will put you to sleep. Tests are pretty difficult.
Wow today was my first day in class and I laughed my ass off. This guy comes to class in a red Hawaiian shirt with a fishing hat and a eukalaelee or however you spell it. He is hilarious and sounds like he'll be an easy teacher! Take him! :)
nice one.
Definitely a relief after Cooper's first half of semester. Gleeson is a nut and his "Plant Dance" is hilarious! GET AHOLD OF HIS OLD EXAMS IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE!!! He never changes the questions from his old tests, he uses the same exact ones, doesn't even change the order of multiple choices! Prolly your best choice if you have to take 152.
Gleeson is very entertaining and tries VERY hard. His tests, however, are worse than biting off your right arm with your own teeth. Weekly homework. He is, however, a very nice professor.
online access to study guides and slides of power points, tests are too difficult, so he curves largely, weekly online tests are open book
I did not like this class. There were 300 people enrolled but only about 20 of us would go to lecture b/c it was so hard to pay attention to him. Internet homework boosted grades. Tests kind of hard. Never answered any of my questions over email. He loves his material but can't really get anyone else to care about his lectures.
He is very knowledgable about the class. However, he has a hard time relaying that information to students. He rambles a lot and drifts to tangets during his lecture material, so it makes it very hard to stay attentive during his class. The tests are pretty challenging. Online tests aren't hard, but they're redudant and annoying.
Well he has ALOT of knowlegde about the topic but has the hardest time in lecture staying on topic. The first 25-30 are just him talking about random subjects and most students fall asleep. After the 1st test less then half of the class attended lecture. Test are really confusing, but the homework helps alot...HE GIVES HUGH CURVES ALWAYS!
He is soo boring. I fall asleep all the time. I went to talk about my exam and he didn't help at all. Very confusing and boring. Yet, he does do weird things like dance in class etc. Take someone else!!
This class has been the worst class i have taken so far at UK. The test are worded so hard that no one can understand them. I would not take this class if i was trying to fulfill a USP, it has just pulled my grade down.
He is my favorite teacher this semester. He really loves what he does and is very knowledgeable. His tests are kind of hard but he gives HUGE curves. There are also weekly online open book tests that only help your grade. He's very easy to work with and is very nice and understanding
Study NOTES!! First test I used textbook and did terrible. Second I only read notes/lecture slides and got an A! NOTES NOTES NOTES!!!
He is an okay teacher for this class if you get him with the right other professor. I would recremend taking him with bonner. He tries to make these test ALOT eaier since they have a herder animal teacher. Whereas if you get him with who he sees as an esier teacher, he tries to balence it out by being the harder teacher. I took with bonner...A!
I don't know about this guy. His lectures are incredibly boring and his personality is a little weird. He's like a really embarassing father. However, he gives curves and omits a few online exams. So, if you can understand Bio, you should get a A/B
Gleeson is enthusiastic but incredibly boring at the same time. If you pay enough attention to take relatively good notes, you should do fine on the tests. He curves quite a bit, and there are extra credit chances along with online tests to cushion your grade. Also sings and plays his ukulele in class, which makes it a little more interesting.
He says to study the slides for tests, but you practically need to memorize them. There are also many of them.
Going to class is not particularly helpful because the test comes straight from the slides. If you want an A, just memorize them and your good. Other than that, he shows enthusiasm about what he teaches and tries to make class interesting which is more than what I can say for Bonner. He should also probably be checked into a psych ward.
He is so random and sometimes will just yell for no apparent reason, but that's probably the only way I stayed awake in the class. He is very enthusiastic about plants and it shows through his lectures. The exams are pretty easy. Just study the slides he gives you and you'll be all set!
We do quizzes over the book but we never talk about the book in class. We go over 100+ notes and slides but he dosent tell us which will be on the test. My advice: do good on the quizzes and try not to stress too bad about the test, theres nothing you can do to prepare. He even said he dosent put questions of the exam he knows everyone will know!
He loves what he teaches and could talk endlessly about biology in the current news. The book is ONLY used on the weekly online tests and the attendance is NOT mandatory. However, he gives many extra credit point(6) for signing your name and ID number. If you know EVERYTHING that is on his Exam Help worksheet you will okay!
Can sometimes embarrass himself, but at least he is entertaining. The exams come straight from the lecture slides and he is very clear as to what information you must know. Old exams are helpful, but certainly not necessary to excel.
Nice man but talks in circles. Gets off on tangents and spends a good portion of class on them. Kind of hard to hear because he likes to teach looking at the slide with his back to the class. Really has a passion for plants and has a good knowledge of them. Funny at times but then again gets boring. Monotone voice but it's not so bad.
Class is basically an online class. He puts the lecture online and class discussions are on a totally different tangent than the lecture. Exams are entirely based on memorization. The question are word for word from the lecture and book activities. Easy 50/50 if you are good at memorizing
He is so nice, and very helpful! Test questions are identical to weekly quiz questions. Judging from past comments, he has clearly changed the class structure from past years. I highly recommend taking his class! If I was a BIO major, I'd take every class taught by Dr. Gleeson!!
I would take ANY class i could of his. He does lectures online. They dont take long to watch & you have 2 assingments due each week. You have a full week to do them and they are EASY. His exams come DIRECTLY from the homework. WORD FOR WORD. In class, he rambles but he is funny & extremely helpful. There's NO reason to get anything lower than an A.
If you get anything less than an A in this class, it;s your fault. It is so easy, test's come WORD for WORD from homework. My section did have class on Friday, but you are allowed to miss 3 classes. Attendance is 25%, so if you don't like to show up, don't take this class.
Cool guy, really dont have to show up if he has the sign in sheet option or you can have someone click for you .. he does 100% count for attendance so either show up or figure it out. Tests are cake. they are word for word from your hw and all you have to do is memorize basically. quizes once a week count as hw. will need book for those.
He is soooo easy! If you don't get an A then it's completely your fault. There are 3 assignments due per week and the tests are literally word per word from those assignments.
Gleeson is very knowledgeable about environmental science. He's a bit interesting. He sings to you and plays his guitar. Attendance is mandatory by use of the clicker. Tests are easy. Take him if you want an easy a and a study hall to complete other homework.
very easy class
This class is very easy. Attendance is taken by easy clicker questions. (or you can just give your clicker to someone else) He plays the ukelele and sings. He is funny, too. There are questions every week that you have to do, but they are easy. The exams are the EXACT same questions that you get during the week.
Really great guy... knowledgable. Very easy. Never paid attention in class and ending the semester with an A. Weekly homework quizzes, but very easy (and answers are always passed around). Tests taken directly from weekly quizzes. He's unintentionally funny, and sings! Great class to get those requirements filled in!
the tests are word for word what the online homework is.Attendance is by clicker so just have someone click you in or you can email him and tell him you were there&he will fix your attendance grade. If you need this class for your major don't take it with him. If it is just to fill the university requirement then I would recommend taking it with him
Take him!! That is all I have to say. He sings to you in class and says funny things. Course is easy, just do the work and you'll do great. He's a super understanding guy too. Definitely would recommend
Stupid class. Your knowledge isn't important, but trust me, attendance is. You can get 100% on every exam and still fail if you find your time worth more than a silly Ukelele song every other day and then an hour of him blathering on about some inane "news," from ten years ago. Avoid his nonsense grading scheme like the plague, for real. AVOID.
This is perhaps one of the easiest courses that the University offers.
This guy is terrible, the project is peer review graded, so if you have a 95 in the class and fail the project you can get a C in the class, and people love to rate poorly on those types of projects.
I can't see why people don't get an A in this class. If you show up and do the work (it isn't that hard), then you should get an A. Yeah, he rambles a lot and plays his ukelele, but he seems to enjoy teaching and he really loves his subject. He's really laid back and easy-going. One of the easiest classes I've ever taken.
CPR!!!!! The guidelines for the simple assignments were a little vague so it is really up to how people decide to grade your stuff. I had someone either run out of time for grading, or didn't understand the assignment give me a 60, and I missed a self assessment, those two alone took me from a borderline A to high C. Tests are simple, CPR sucks!
funny guy, keeps you interested, easy A!
Great Teacher! Very easy to work with, made the material interesting
This class was super easy. There is no need to attend the lectures, so get someone to sign you in or click for you. The only assignments are online tests, a simple online project, and the in class exams. Gleeson always sings with his ukulele which makes for a fun lecture.
This course is so easy. There is no reason to get less than a B. Gleeson is a funny guy and doesn't take himself too seriously. Clickers are used for attendance, but he also has a sign-in sheet. The work is not hard and the answers are practically served to you on a platter. If you need some type of science credit, here's your class!
He is not a strict teacher at all. The daily routine is come in, sign in if your "clicker doesn't work"(that he uses for participation grade) & then a lot of kids leave which he was starting to notice, he goes through his powerpoint, &plays his banjo. His tests are word for word from online chapter&lecture quizzes. I hate science&got an A still.
Scotty G is a unique professor. He likes to yell THE GREEN SLIIIIME a lot and will play his ukelele in class. Participation is in the form of answering clicker questions. Exams are word for word from weekly "tests". FOLLOW THE GUIDELINE for the online lab. It literally tells you what you will be graded on - don't try to get creative with it.
His lectures are pointless. Exam questions come directly off of the assignments online, so just memorize those and you're sure to get an A. His lectures are usually so far off topic that I don't even know what we're talking about. Seems like a great guy but not my favorite professor by any means.
Dr. Gleeson is funny! He is very fond of his ukulele. However, this is a quack class. Show up and answer clicker questions. People do their homework or they are on their phones. The exams are verbatim from the weekly unit tests. The lectures themselves are boring I didn't really learn anything. If you need an easy credit, then take this class!
He is super easy just study.
This class is super easy. He does clickers, but you only need to click in once, and the answer does not even have to be right, and you get full particiaption for the day. So you can click in when he puts the question up at the beginning of class and leave. His tests are all based off the homework, so just study those answers and you will get an A.
Really nice and helpful teacher! He said in the beginning he is not one to beg you to pay attention in his class, he knows we pay to go to class so if we don't want to pay attention it's on us. He is very out going, assignments can be found on quizlet, exams are word for word. LOVE THIS CLASS
Most boring class ever. don't waste your $ on a clicker. just download response ware on your cell phone. easy A though
Scott Gleeson is the man. If you need a science credit take this class for sure. It is the easiest science class you will find and he plays songs on the ukelele like once a week which is an added bonus. The exams are the exact same as the quizzes. Easy and good class overall.
The weekly quizzes are easy and you use turning point, a response system, to track your attendance. By far the easiest science class to take for your core. Scott sings to the class too which is a plus
I took this "science" class with Gleeson to fulfill my natural science core credit. It is sooooo easy, you don't even have to show up to class (download attendance software on your phone and you can click in from your room!) Exams are word for word from quizlet. Gleeson is so nice, he's willing to help if you have questions about the project
Professor Gleeson is hilarious and interested in helping students learn the material. The class was really easy, but attendance is mandatory (taken with clicker response ware). I always looked forward to going to this class and it balanced out my more difficult ones. He's down-to-earth and fun. Definitely take this for core if you have the chance.
Scott is the man! They weekly quizzes can be found on quizlet. The exams are the quizzes word for word. There is one easy project that takes the 2nd half of the semester. Scott is very laid back and plays the Ukulele and sings at least once a week.I got a 58 on the final and still got a 97% in the class so don't worry much.
Great professor, cares about students and the class was easy enough to relax and focus on actually learning the material instead of just gaming the system for points. i would take his class again in a heartbeat
Scott is so funny, he will just break out in song in the middle of lectures. Attendance is not required and is a very easy A. One big project to keep up with and take home test. The exams are questions from past test which are on Quizlet so it's easy to cram the night before. If you suck at science THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU.
Tests are take-home, exams are word for word multiple choice off the tests, easy A, plays the ukulele every week
Hes the best Professor you will ever have, attendance is not mandatory and he is hilarious.
i think i forgot to turn in my final project, failed every exam and still got a B in the class.
Such fun lectures. He is very entertaining and passionate about his job. He really makes the class interesting
I forgot to do a peer review for the project (which was 35% of the project grade) and instead of making me do an extra assignment or just saying "tough luck", he gave me full credit. He's very understanding and his passion for his job is clearly seen in the way he teaches. Great guy, would recommend.
A funny dude, super flexible with grading, class is super easy if you show up for exams, attendance is bonus points. He tries to make it really easy to get an A. Plays instuments during class, good easy A. Would take his class again
Easiest class at UK. Exams are word for word the study guide. Just turn in the HW on time and show up for exams and you get an A. all HW is word for god on Quizlet too.
great guy. 10/10 would recommend
Very good professor, tries very hard to keep you entertained in class, makes bio interesting. Participation grades online, exams are copy and paste versions of his online tests, most answers are on quizlet! Very helpful and willing to work with you!
this class was literally easier than my high school bio classes. I 100% recommend Professor Gleeson. He make lectures fun and enjoyable. Exams are copy and paste questions from the online homework.
Take attendee on TurningPoint dont have to be in the class plus if It hurts your grade hw will drop It .
The best professor at UK. Hands down. I took him for BIO 102 and was the easiest class I ever took. He makes lectures fun and genuinely cares about his students. He also counted attendance as extra credit if you needed it!
Easy class and chill guy. Never met him in person because of covid and the class was asynchronous but he was very clear on his standards and the assignments were easy. I actually really enjoyed the final project for this class. Would take him again (I hate science but he made the class bearable for someone who knows nothing about it)
The professor was fun, although I don't actually know what his face looks like. I took his class totally online. It was asynchronous which was nice, but I never really got to know the man. Class consisted of these rambling narrated PowerPoints where the voiceover was either too soft or far too loud. I wouldn't take his class again.
Professor Gleeson is one of the best professors I have ever had! He makes class super fun with his jokes and occasionally breaks out into song with his ukulele. This class is pretty easy in terms of homework and quizzes. There aren't any exams which is super nice. If you need to take a science class for the science core this is the one to take!
This class is very easy. If you do the two tests due every monday which are so easy and the packbacks your grade will be fine. Attendance is not mandatory at all.
This man is the purest human ever. He cares about every student he has and is very helpful. This class is very independent work and you can watch his online lectures and receive an A. He is always trying to make class entertaining and ALWAYS makes time for his students if they need extra help. Definitely recommend if you need an easy Science credit
Very easygoing Professor, and he makes his lectures actually entertaining. Attendance isn't mandatory, and there's not much homework, other than the few weekly assignments you're given. It's an easy class, as long as you actually do the work on time and put in some effort.
I didn't really go to class because it wasn't really necessary. Weekly online tests that were really easy. There was a project we did that was a little random but not the worst thing in the world. The class was mainly busy work, but it was an easy 3 credits for core class.
