lOVE HIM!! I took intro geology to fulfill my core requirement and Hippensteel made me seriously consider changing my major. Of all my profs at UNCC he was the best. I was a psych major and I took 3 more geology classes, because he was just that good!

Extremely entertaining. Makes learning about really boring stuff not so boring which is probably what most profs should strive for, but don't. Talks about his wife alot, gives GREAT analogies and TRULY knows what he is talking about. One of the best.

Great guy. Very funny, keeps class interesting with jokes. Pretty easy tests, textbook was not required. Likes to give lots of pop quizzes, but they are generally easy with usually one silly or very easy question. Moves through notes kind of fast so hard to keep up at times. Don't be a Yankees fan lol.

very interesting professor. can make the most boring subject interesting. he sometimes pissed me off though when he was moving through notes way too fast. his tests pissed me off also. he would put stuff on the test that he only briefly mentioned in class. wasn't in the notes or anything. i ended up getting an allright grade but i had to study alot

He is an extremely funny guy but breezes through the material way too fast. He teaches off of notes and you have to try to listen to what he's saying and copy notes at the same time. His tests are really hard and a lot of the questions were meant to trip you up. Like I said, nice guy, HARD professor! I dropped it after the 1st test.

He is a great teacher. I loved his oceanography class. He makes the material easy to understand and he's very funny! Go to class, take notes, and reread the notes before the test and you'll do fine. I definitely recommend taking a class with him!

he makes class interesting, but you have to remember what you go over..for instance in the coursepack he doesn't really go in order. lots of fun to attend, but study!

Awesome professor! Does alot to lighten the mood in the class and makes going to class fun. Be warned, attendance is not mandatory but has quizzes all the time and they will affect your grade. Highly recommend Hippensteel if you need a LBST class!

He is great! Funny, informative, best teacher I've had in a while. Quizzes regularly so it's important to go to class. Cheap text to read outside of class questions on test. Test can be a little hard foucsing on small details.

Dr. Hippensteel is a great professor. He made the class entertaining, even when going over notoriously unentertaining material. He's always available and lets students know about office hoursasks for any questions. There's a quiz at nearly every class, so make sure you show up to every class on time and review last lectures notes.

Dr. Hippensteel is phenomenal. He gets straight to his point when teaching and doesn't waste anybody's time. He's funny and there's extra credit opportunities at the beginning of class in the form of quizzes. Also, he bumps up grades for those who attend regularly. Great, respectable professor.

I really enjoyed Professor Hippensteel's class. It is not an easy A (average class grade was a 77%) but it was definitely worth taking. He is a funny guy and always throws in a joke or two in lectures, which made them more enjoyable to me. His teaching style is very clear and concise and the class was very organized.

His tests are IMPOSSIBLE. Super detailed so make sure you pay attention and score high on all the mini-assignments. Overall, he ahhh cool dude frfr. I love his dad jokes.

He gives assignments every week but they're easy. The problem is the tests. They are super detailed so make sure you take your notes not only on the stuff he writes down but also the things he says. The tests were what dropped my grade to just a B but his class isn't that hard overall. I would take him again.

Dr. Hippensteel's comedic timing and story telling keeps you reeled in from the start. He's a very tough, but fair, grader. Avoid skipping and or being late. Write down your notes but listen to what he says while you write. If he repeats it, it's for a good reason. Avoid pure memorization, Connect concepts from different chapters, ask questions

If you are interested in any of the topics he teaches, please take Dr. Hippensteel. I took his Paleontology course to fill a requirement I needed to graduate and I've never been more thankful for the dysfunction of the Bio dept. Although studying for the class can be tough, his lectures are unmatched by any professor. One of my favorite professors.

Professor Hippensteel's class is entertaining yet challenging. His tests are incredibly detailed, so staying on top of lecture notes and the textbook is crucial. unstuck AI proved helpful for test prep. Overall, a rewarding but tough course.
