The easiest econ class you will ever have! If you like extra credit, this is the class for you. I got all A's in this class, something I never expected from an Econ class.
He just rambled on about everything. Didn't actually spend enough time explaining something he just moved right to something else.
Seemed nice at first, but then when he was questioned (by multiple students) about elements of an exam that was never covered, he became defensive and completely unwilling to admit his mistake nor offer any sort of restitution. Seems to grade papers low for no reason. AVOID his online course!
Barely passed 200 at osu, i hated econ and was traumatized by it. Hunt made 240 interesting with his examples. It seemed that he liked what he taught, i would really recommend him to anyone..!!
this was a very hard class. i took it online and didnt learn anything. when i asked for help i was told there were tutors st OSU for 10 or 15 dollars an hour. i wouldnt recomend taking it online.
I took this class online. My advice is not to take this online. Help is not provided at all. Questions on the exam are not from the book. It was hard to understand what was going on in the class and what exactly he wanted from you as a student. This was the only class I have struggled in so far at Columbus State.
He used "umm" too much he would be finushed with class an hour soon er if he would not say "umm" and leave out the personal stories that have no point to the class
He was a hard teacher but if you paied attention and tried he gave you credit. he also gave soo much extra credit it was great! he is a hard but really good teacher
Dr. Hunt is a wonderful teacher. I don't think that Econ is EVER exciting, so it's not super exciting ever. But he does a very good job explaining everything and as long as you attend class you'll be fine! He covers everything he'll ever test you on!
Terrible, terrible teacher. I took the online course, he was unhelpful, he does not return e-mails on time, he gives a lot of work, his exams have nothing to do with anything and he makes a lot of mistakes in marking. It was a big mistake taking his course and I would advise you never to even consider taking it.
I took this class online and it is so hard!! There was a lot of extra credit but the problem sets were impossible and everytime I asked for help he told me to refer back to the answers that were posted, which still didn't make sense, I would NOT recommend this professor especiallky for the online class.
His class requires attendance if you want to get a good grade. He is really nice and realistic, but not easy. If you take good notes and turn in all assignments it's hard not to get a good grade. Gives extra credit opportunities!
I took the online class and got a perfect score. Exam questions are taken directly from Blackboard content.
Good teacher with understandable teaching logic. Best teacher at Columbus State Community College compared to the others.
Dr. Hunt is a pretty good professor. The class is tough, and you CANNOT miss a class. The tests are directly from class notes. Lots of outside work, but also a lot of extra credit. Good class, good prof.
Easy class, hard final. Guy wears some weird shirts. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
I took this class online and was very grateful for the wealth of information available. Also, he emailed us with the questions or parts we got wrong on assignments, which was helpful. He was also quick to respond and genuinely seemed like he wanted you to succeed. Assignments were allowed to be completed twice before the grade counted.
HORRIBLE!!! This guy doesn't care enough about his students to even spell correctly. Gives reasons why he gave a certain grade and every other word is spelled wrong. Makes a ridiculously hard class unbearable!!!
HARD HARD HARD Class to take online. I hated the class as I had to try and teach myself the information and how to apply it. You read you take tests and are asked to write a few papers EXACTLY as he asks or they are returned. Online instructional videos would improve this class 100%. DO NOT SUGGEST TAKING THE ONLINE CLASS!
Class expectations are pretty simple, just read the book and the powerpoints and you're good. Not extremely helpful, but the class wasn't too hard for me anyways. He mispells every other word in emails, but other than that the class wasn't too bad
Certainly doesn't proofread anything. I was appalled with the low quality of the PowerPoints and exams. I recommend taking this class with another instructor, or preparing yourself to learn via YouTube and Wikipedia if you do enroll in this class. Don't bother asking for help. On the plus side, you get two shots at each homework assignment.
WoW, his emails are atrocious. If you debate an issue with him it takes 3-4 E-mails and he still does NOT address your issues. He talks down to students, and has no social skills what-so-ever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Horrible online, does not proof read the slides. Especially formula, mixes variables which makes learning the formulas that much harder. Homeworks and papers are easy. Online quizzes and exams use unfamiliar words that are used to confuse you and cause you to over think simple questions. Not a very good professor, very full of himself.
Relied on the internet a little much for a traditional class. Overall, not bad. A little confusing at times.
I only had him for a few weeks since my teacher was on a leave... but he was an average professor. He's very knowledgeable and it was funny how he critiqued my normal teacher. I thought his explanations were good and his powerpoints. But like others have said he does talk down a bit and may not completely address your issue.
I was never unclear on what was expected of me in this class. Yes...it was challanging and there was a tremendous amount of material to cover. Dr. Hunt held an alternate study group and I attended the departmental study session. I ended up aceing the departmental final so obviously something was done right!
I had him for a few lectures. He used real world examples and clarified all that material the class was struggling on. I wish I would have taken his class instead of the Professor I had. Smart, laid back Professor. I recommend to anyone who is taking Economics for the first time, or who isn't polished on their algebra.
In comparison to some profs his pretty good. I liked him a lot. Took online-hard, inclass- not that much. Read the NOTES. A lot quiz questions on tests. Lot lot extra creadits.
He was great about explaining all of the concepts. For all of the difficult material he gave examples that clarified it. There are a TON of assignments, which do help, but extra credit at the end! The most difficult thing is to just keep all the due dates straight, but no reason to not get an A or B.
Great professor.. If you follow the calendar the he provides and attend classes you will get an A. Very helpful instructor. I liked his class a lot
HORRIBLE. I am in it online right now and I am going to have to drop. He does not help you with anything and has treated me like I'm stupid when asking questions through email. I am a grad student, I'm not dumb. His assignments are difficult to understand and when you ask him for help, he says "refer to blackboard". DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM
Drop this class! I took it online. He provided no instruction. If you email him a question he will give a short response that does NOT answer the question. Exam questions were not from the material. His syllabus and materials are full of typos, misspellings, and errors. Unprofessional professor. I learned NOTHING.
Not sure about the other reviews but he was fine for freshman seminar. Granted we only had one meeting a week. Super easy grader. 100% as long as you did your work and turned it in on time.
Very rude when he responds to emails and talks down to students. I would not recommend to take his class at all. choose a different teacher.
Horrible professor. Talks down to students and grades on his own curve. Do not take his class and find a different professor.
Course materials and policies contradicted each other in numerous places. Statements in the syllabus about grading were not accurate. Absolutely no instruction from teacher at all. Assignments hard to understand. Due dates not edited from previous semesters. This professor seriously needs an editor. His typos and contradictions were everywhere. BAD
good instructor. very helpful.
Reading and participation essential in passing this class. All info & requirements available at beginning of semester. Could workread ahead if wanted. Professor is very helpful and gives excellent feedback. Very clear understanding of what is required from you. Lecture notes are extremely helpful on tests.
Avoid this professor at all costs, especially online. His Blackboard page is outdated and a mess. He doesn't even take the time to use proper grammar to address the class. He puts unnecessary information on the Blackboard page, yet has no lectures, just book reading. When you reach out to him, he is condescending and treats you like a small child.
Honestly, the most unprofessional instructor I've had in my 4 years at college. I took his online class for the summer as a transient student and he was very rude in responding to emails. He will not spell check and use proper grammar but of course expects you to due so. He completely ignored some of my emails and I eventually called CSCC. AVOID!
Do yourself a favor, take this class with anyone but Scott Hunt. Talks down to you, unorganized, doesn't know how to use blackboard(so don't count on knowing your grade until the last minute), not helpful, difficult exams with material never discussed in class, wacky due dates. This class is the reason I am NOT majoring in business anymore
This is the worst teacher I've ever had and worst class I have EVER taken. Do NOT take this as an online course unless you are a mathematical genius. This course really requires face-to-face instruction because if you are forced to figure this out on your own; you will fail. Lots of homework including papers, quizzes, and worksheets.
I don't have many comments about this professor. However, I would highly recommend not taking an economics course online. I've taken many online courses in the past and this was by far the most difficult one.
Great teacher! Would take another course with him again!
Dr. Hunt is very passionate about teaching. He is the best professor so far I have at Columbus State. His exams can differentiate the good and bad students. In general, the exams are not easy and require that you understand the materials. However, he gives a lot of extra credits opportunities, so if you're not so smart, you still can get A.
Took his online course. Very disappointing. Lots of homework, his blackboard was very difficult to navigate and almost never updated (I missed an early assignment because I couldn't find the calendar and the date next to it was sometime in February. I am taking this class over the summer.) His E-mail responses were similar to those of a child.
I got 100% on everything except exams and papers. Everything is basically participation, however beware this guy is nasty when talking to people. Its like he doesn't remember what its like before he understood economics. He wrote me a whole paragraph telling me why i shouldn't have used one word in my paper, and gave me a F on a paper for 5 errors.
Economics was a difficult subject for me but I was still able to keep my grade up in his online class. He was always kind when I needed to reach out to him. If you don't do well on tests but do good on learnsmarts and papers you can still end up with a higher grade. He gives good feedback and makes sure you understand what you did wrong.
Let me start off by saying that this guy is the worst e-mailer in my whole academic career. He speaks to you like an entitled caveman. His tests were also very different than the final, so be careful for that! He focuses on the math, the final is all words. I would not recommend this class to anyone, especially as an online course.
Not sure how someone has a doctorate in anything without understanding how to use a single punctuation mark. It's really difficult to understand his messages and his feedback is very patronizing and not even close to being helpful.
Do NOT take economics online with Scott Hunt. Lots of homework and difficult exams. His emailing is unprofessional for example, if you ask him for help on an assignment, he will give you a one sentence answer and probably not answer correctly. He also grades tough on the papers so yourself a favor and do not take economics online period!
I wouldn't recommend this class online. The papers were a little difficult to do, but extra credit was offered. His emailing etiquette could improve. The homework were online, but I had to take the midterm and final exams on campus. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this guy because he doesn't seem like a people person.
I took Intro to Economics online. Don't take this teacher. Economics is already hard enough and this teacher is bad. He always replies to emails very unprofessionally and makes the class really hard. It's a very hard class, even though I got an A.
Absolutely terrible when it comes to communication. Responds to emails with as few words as possible while at the same time not using a single punctuation mark. This makes it very difficult to decipher. Read all the other reviews, they are similar for a reason.
Very easy online class. Professor Hunt is willing to work with you around deadlines and any issues. Only 3 assignments due per week (LS, Mcgraw hill hw, and maybe a quiz). Answers on chegg.
Uhhh this guy is just awful. Based on his grammar, if you told me a 10 year old wrote his emails for him, I wouldnt even question it. I could say a lot but Ill keep it short, dont bother reading through chapter material. Use YouTube and chegg to teach yourself everything because you wont learn it through his awful readings and instruction.
Very confusing professor, he will rarely provide a clear answer to any of your questions. He'll answer your emails but will definitely leave you more confused than you already were. Chose someone else.
This professor is so unprofessional. He does not know how to properly write an email and messes up grades constantly. The class is a joke... I learned absolutely nothing. But if you are looking for an automatic A , would recommend. All it takes is turning in all of your assignments and completing the extra credit.
Scott Hunt is very rude particularly to his CCP students. He does not give helpful answers to important questions, and makes so many mistakes that whatever little feedback he does give back is unreadable. His requirements are not made available and he will penalize you for not meeting them. He should not be teaching economics at CSCC!
This was the worst grade Ive had since middle school, everything is graded so harshly and nobody can seem to pass any exams. Dont take this class.
A very harsh teacher. Econ is already a diffcult class and having a bad professor does not make it any easier. Once called me "lazy" becasue I used "etc" in my first paper of the class. Also never gave me a clear respone when I had a question.
Ive had tougher professors before, but they made an attempt to help me when Ive asked and were professional, not this guy. He is rude and patronizing while constantly making spelling and grammar errors. His notes on papers, if you can make sense of them, seem designed to make you know he is smarter and that you should be ashamed for trying.
Scott Hunt is perhaps the worst professor I have ever had in my 5 years of higher education. He is rude, unhelpful, and curt. He literally told me that its "not his job to explain things" to me. There's no textbook for the class, just a website full of typos and logical errors, which looks like it was thrown together in less than a day.
Professor Hunt does nothing with the class. Economics is a hard concept to learn solely from a textbook. Exam questions are almost nothing like the learnsmarts and the assignments have nothing to do with the exams either. I dont know how teachers get away with using websites to teach their classes. He does offer a bit of extra credit though
Easy to work with. Also answers questions very thoroughly.
Very difficult & not at all challenging. He is so much smarter than everyone else in the history of the world (insert sarcasm) The text was a joke. He wrote it & it was full of grammar errors. Papers better be perfect or he will dock points. I went to his virtual office hrs. several times & instead of helping me he was vague & rude.
He wasn't a bad teacher I just think that the book alone was kinda hard to understand. You'll get the grasp of the concept but it will take you a long time to read through it. As long as you don't slack off you'll be fine. Make sure to take notes, it will be very helpful when you study for exams.
Scott Hunt is the worst prof I have had thus far. He wrote the textbook which is wordy, hard to understand, and plagued with grammatical errors. His emails do not make sense and the Black Board page is extremely difficult to navigate. He somehow comes across as condescending in his emails and announcements. Avoid the pain and choose another prof.
I would not recommend choosing this professor. Professor Hunt can be extremely unprofessional in his emails. He was often very rude and unhelpful in replies. He told me he didn't think I would pass his class. However, a pro would be that the grading was a little lenient because the some assignments were for completion but some were for accuracy.
His syllabus was filled with errors and dates were wrong. He was rude whenever I emailed him to ask him questions since the syllabus made no sense. His exams were super hard and I felt like he purposefully asked trick questions. I got an A in the class, but that was thanks to the easy online homework through the textbook and because of extra credit
I took Econ 1110 as a ccp student online, every assignment went through the online textbook and they were pretty simple to complete. The tests were very hard to do good on though. He offered extra credit and it was actually pretty easy to get an A.
Homework is light and class is very easy to get a good grade on. Hunt's emails and announcements can be very confusing at times along with questions on exams.
This class is truly do it at your own pace. The powerpoint lectures will help you on the exams. The paper is hard if you do not fully understand the concepts. Do the extra credit, learnsmarts, and ABAs and you will be fine since those are the largest part of your grade. If you like pacing things out yourself, I recommend this class.
You will have weekly reading assignments from a free textbook written by him. The textbook was full of errors. You will have 2 papers to write with VERY strict requirements. He is very rude in emails so don't take it personally. On the plus side, he has lots of participation assignments. Do well on those given exams are almost an impossible A.
lots of reading but overall really easy if you keep up
Where do I get started, I took online classes because I had a lot of things going on outside of school... This class was AWFUL... He is flat-out rude, I have sent him over 20 emails confused about a project and he doesn't know how to explain them, and doesn't read over his emails so half of them don't make any since. Worst class I have ever taken.
His syllabus is a real mess. You have two papers to write where the instructions for them are SO STRICT and contradicting in places so you don't really know what's right and wrong. Comes off slightly blunt in emails but that's just his style I guess. DEFINITELY write down assignment due dates. Wouldn't be my first choice in a professor again.
This was a hard class. all my papers I did my ABSOLUTE best and never got above a C, even while using his exact tip and formats. You must be EXTREMELY thorough to succeed in this class, and be able to memorize 20+ formulas and types of graphs. He is super kind though and I respect his teaching style and him as a professor 100%.
Do. Not. Take. This. Class. I took it for a requirement and it was awful. Required textbook readings but he makes you read it out of order. Online activities that take forever. I tried so hard on the exams and never got over an 80%. One required paper that I emailed him a question about and he was no help. You can't see your grade until last week.
This class is difficult. If you do the work, you will pass. Prepare to read a lot from the textbook and the PowerPoints. Take advantage of all attempts at assignment. Do the extra credit and participation assignments and you will do fine.
Dr. Hunt has never spelled a word the same way twice in his life. Grammatical errors, spelling errors, and a communication style that drips condescension. Impossible-to-decipher directions on every assignment, and when asked for clarification acts as if they are clear as day and how could you be so dense as to not understand? Do not select him.
Dr Hunt is difficult. His online course info is overwhelming, items are posted from years ago, dates are wrong, directions to write papers consist of 8 different files in which there is no clear direction and he repeats himself over and over. Readings are heavy, homework load is insane (the condensed summer session for this class did not help).
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS. He shows little to no respect for the student, has little self awareness with his tone over email/grading. Comes off as scolding/yelling when it comes to constructive criticism with assignments. Extremely rude and passive aggressive. Absolutely zero reason to be this way when needing help
Professor Hunt is one of those professors that makes you feel dumb for asking questions even though it is his job to answer them. His online work is SO unorganized. I am currently taking his class in autumn of 2025 however, I have due dates for June 2022 because he doesn't update or change anything. Only take his class if you absolutely have to!
I took his online microeconomics class. It was a tough class because there's a lot of reading and assignments to complete. But as long as you turn in / complete all of the assignments on time, you'll be ok! Hard-work does payoff for this class
