Great teacher! Lectures are boring but it is an easy A! He is an easy grader but there is a lot of reading of articles that pertain to the class. But honestly it is not that bad. I would take as many classes in history that I could take from him to boost up my GPA! You should take his classes.
I liked this class a lot. He's a funny guy, but the subject can get boring at times. If there weren't so many GE people in the class it would have been much better.
Boring lectures, funny guy and helpful. TONS of reading and bought extra books I didn't need. Didn't know what to expect from the guy for the midterm and essay since the readings and lectures were a little convoluted.
Dr. scott lupo is hella funny and he is a cool guy. im happy i have his class because it is a fun history class to go to.
He is a great teacher and he makes class go by fast with all of his funny comment and cheesy jokes. Great guy and thorough teacher.
this class was very easy. i barely had to show up and got a b. exams are all essay though so you must be a good writer, gives out test questions ahead of time
I was very happy with Prof. Lupo's class. He is spot on in his analysis from the historical angle, but he really can draw a crowd with the topic itself. Have him tell you his Reagan stories-make sure he does the voice too!
Easy class. Good teacher. Go to class, take the tests, and you'll do well!
he is a very good prof., who makes class fun. have him tell the Reagan story, it funny.
Great Teacher. If you show up to class you are guarenteed to pass. He gives the tests to you one week prior to the test date. Very helpful and knows his stuff. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants a good teacher.
This is a great teacher. He made me feel like I could speak in class and help out in every conversation. You have to be a good writer in this class because your entire grade is base on attendance and writing papers. He keeps class fun and interesting, he is a professor who WANTS to help you learn and succeed.
An enjoyable personality, keeps class loose and fun. Lectures aren't too bad and he gives you the test questions ahead of time. Ends class early just about every day which is nice.
Dr. Lupo is a cool guy; he makes you feel relaxed. He makes history fun and gives the student some freedom to explore their own ideas for papers to write. He's AWESOME!!! Take him..!!!
Class was always interesting to go too because he has such a dry, laid back sense of humor. He'd break off into strange stories but tie them back into what he was talking about in a funny way, hard to explain but people who've had him will know what I'm talking about. Really easy class, especially if you've paid attention in history over the yrs.
Prof. Lupo is my favorite professor. I'm taking another one of his classes this semester. Very knowledgeable and keeps class interesting. Funny guy, especially his Reagan stories. Highly recommend!
Lupo is extremely nice. Give test questions a week or two prior to testing. Highly recommend. The only thing I have to comment on is that I have a hard time taking notes and listen at the same time, bc it is a lot of info. But that's my own personal problem only though. Do take him though, esp for upper division
Dr. Lupo is an awesome teacher. I would recommend him to anyone. I took Popular Culture with him and its both interesting and he makes it fun. He likes to tell stories and get off topic sometimes. Good if you need upper division courses.
Great prof. Interesting and enjoyable class. Highly recommended if u r looking 4 an upper div. class.
Great Teacher!!! The class is very interesting and his stories are hilarious. Two essays (5 pg and 10 pg), some worksheets and readings. Allowed to write on any topic and use any resources. Second time taking him and would def take him again, highly recommend!
"I think we'll go a little early" :)
By FAR, the best teacher i've ever had. If you come to class wanting and ready to learn, he will be the best tool to help you do so. This professor is always willing to help and has the best sense of humor.
Awesome professor that teaches with ease and a slight humor. Dr. Lupo just not just throw-up historical facts. He just flows in his own way. Since you showed up to class today, "I think we will go a little early."
I took this professor over the summer. Easy course, he cut a lot of the reading out. You will need the For the Record book. Lectures and blue book exams. Pretty flexible with students. One book report.
A little disorganized but very enthusiastic. Prepares entertaining lectures. Attendance not mandatory but lectures are essential. Lots of pictures & video used in class. Essay exams and one paper or project. Fairly easy grader and enthusiastic prof.
He is a very entertaining lecturer. His personal stoies that he gets sided tracked on are almost always funny. He is quiet, so you really have to listen, but you won't regret it.
probably the BEST professor you will ever have, loved his class and he is a very cool guy with a very good sense of humor, just take his class and you will find out how awesome he is
I used to HATE history but this professor made it so interesting. He is hilarious and really knows his information. It's easy to do the work. Be prepared for lots of notes. I love his little quirky stories he would tell lol
I've got three years at CSUS under my belt, and he is by far, the most laid back. Notes are easy to take and consistent. If he's late to class, most likely he'll let the class out early. But he just does anyway.
hist not my thing but i passed with an A. & i missed A LOT of days in his class. so i went to a tutor and that helped with the study guide that he gives which is the exact test so u can easily study it. you will have to do a book report. theres readings assigned but i barely read them
Very laid back, knowledgeable teacher. Likes to let class out early, has a high ratio of relevant material to cruft, and when he does get off-track, it's hilarious. Also, I vaguely suspect he smokes marijuana.
Lupo is awesome, he is a true Southern gentlemen. He is very polite and extremely knowledgeable as well, which makes for a pleasant classroom experience. He's also quite funny too, which is rare for professors. He would let us out early too, which was pretty refreshing. In my opinion he is an excellent professor and a genuinely cool person.
Lupo is AWESOME!!!!! Extremely helpful, polite, patient, knowledgeable, and funny! "I think we'll get out early today...what do you guys think?" Best question ever, haha!
you get what you put into it . Freedom and independence for you here! nice teaching style. I always thought that he was like super coll and his blood pressure is so low he is enjoyable happening here. He allows you to be accountable to yourself and another student in the class (pier review on your research ) your paying for the class.Take it!
Nice guy, very laid back. Lectures and coursework are fairly light: 1 research paper, in class midterm and a take-home final. Doesn't grade attendance. Tells some entertaining stories in between lectures. Overall, recommended.
Sure he's the easiest teacher that I've had in my life but he gives no criticism to help us improve our work. It's completely a do it yourself class where your fellow students review your paper. That's nice and all but I'd rather have the person that I'm paying to teach to actually do some work. Even with an A I don't feel like I've earned it.
Had him last semester for Hist 17 B...Cool guy..Really funny and always let us leave early. SUPER laid back...ask him about the end of the world or ronald reagan if you want a really interesting story, he will be happy to share it.
Pretty funny in that dorky on purpose way. Makes the lectures as interesting as possible for the subject. The tests are essay only and he gives the exact questions a week in advance. I really enjoyed his class. Ask about his meeting of Reagan and the end of the world for a funny aside to class.
I have had Lupo for a few classes. He is such a great teacher. Easy but you do learn a lot from him. He has a passion for Mordern US History and it show. Don't buy the Textbooks you never use them and he always lets you go early.
Had him for 100 and 155. Great guy, really organized in his lectures and always willing to discuss topics without losing track of time or flow.
Great teacher and funny. However, the class was pointless and I learned nothing. I don't feel like this class prepared me for anything except laziness. If you want to get prepared for the senior seminars and challenge yourself, then don't take Lupo.
Professor Lupo was really funny and nice, which kept the class interesting. Didn't learn much that I didn't know from high school but it was definitely an easy class! He was very lenient on grades and always let us out early. Easy class, I would definitely recommend taking him if you just need it for general ed.
Great class. Easy, if you attend class and take notes.
Best lecturer I've ever heard. He could be a best-selling historical audio book. Extremely informative and interesting. One tiny hint: find out what the T.A. expects from you prior to tests.
Awesome awesome teacher! Made history exciting. Was very outgoing and very clear about his work. He grades very easy, yet provides you with the correct information! Really recommend him for a fun and enjoyable class!
This class is super easy and an easy A. He assigned two 6-page midterms, but it's not hard to do if you take notes. He also assigned a 7-10 page research paper. He hardly used the books and gave out homework. Overall, his class was extremely fun and his lectures are interesting! "Would you like to go early?" is his favorite phrase and so was mine.
History is one of my least favorite classes, but Mr. Lupo actually made the class really fun! He's extremely easy going and was constantly making the class laugh. His lectures are very easy to follow and they never made me the least bit sleepy or tired. I've already recommended him to other friends. Great teacher!
Lupo is my favorite teacher I have ever had. He is so nice and is constantly making the class laugh. He comes late to class every day and lets you out early every day. Everyone should definitely take this class! He even let us have a pizza party. All of the tests are take home essays.
Lupo was my teacher for First Year Seminar History. He's a funny, quirky guy and made my first semester of college much more enjoyable! Yes, his jokes can sometimes be repetitive, but that's not a big deal. Lupo is also really easy going--he reserved the game room for our class so we wouldn't have to pay! If you're taking a FYS class, I recommend!
What can I say about Dr. Lupo that hasn't already been said. He is a great professor! He allows you the freedom to research your historical interest. Always available during office hours and more than willing to advise with direction or questions. Good sense of humor, helpful, and highly recommended.
Love Lupo. Easy going, great sense of humor, and really enjoys what he does. Extremely helpful when needed and always available during office hours. Taken him 3 times now, would do it again without thinking twice. Highly recommended for upper division.
Professor Lupo was my favorite professor! He was funny and laid back. Still got work done but had time to leave class early. There were 2 take home exams and one research paper. Not much homework and light use of textbooks. Overall great professor.
Dr. Lupo is very nice and it's obvious that he loves teaching. He's always in a great mood! The majority of the time we got out of class early. One essay midterm, one book review and a summary paper. Other than that, the class is all lecture. Barely any homework.
Took his Hist 17B class as a freshmen spring 2013.A great professor! Always in a good mood. I liked his sense of humor! light homework! He did not take attendance but you must go to get notes for writing assignments.
Fantastic teacher super nice guy, easy course, humorous, helpful and very leanient. Highly Recommended!
Grade = Research Paper 25%, Seminar Part/Discussion 15%, & Penultimate Draft 15%--only "graded" assignments. Other smaller ones credit/no credit scores. A lot of room for own research topic. Dr. Lupo is great help with ENTIRE research process :) Textbooks not necessary to pass. Try to split ~ 7 pages rough draft, ~ 14 penultimate, 20+ final.
Dr. Lupo was a wonderful instructor, very clear and passionate about the material he teaches. He has a great sense of humor that makes time in class really fly!
Learned so much more than expected. Finally see the benefit of outlines. Excellent text book, I will use for a long time to come. Professor guides students through the 20 page final paper by assigning the paper in increments; also eliminates cheating. Great sense of humor makes class fun.
Take Dr.Lupo! He is just about the only teacher that makes me smirk. The class is very easy as long as you do 2 take home exams and your research paper you will most likely get an A! He also does let us get out early sometimes.
Class was an easy A. Loved Dr. Lupo! He has a really good sense of humor and makes everyone laugh a lot. He always asks if we want to go out early. Attendance was not mandatory, but you take notes a lot in class. There was one midterm, one book review, and one take home final. All easy A as long as you do them. Very lenient.
The greatest teacher I have ever had. He is sweet, funny, and helpful. Thhis teacher deserves your attention and respect!
EASIEST AND BEST CLASS EVER. Hardly anyone showed up, which was sad bc he is so enthusiastic about the subject, and his lectures are interesting. Only a midterm with the questions given prior, a book report essay, and the final is 2 short essays turned in a week prior to the official end of the semester.
Definitly the best class i took all semester. He is a little strange but also really funny. Lectures for the whole class and speaks fast so it is sometimes hard to keep up. He will however repeat anything you need him to do. No final, just a paper turned in the week before. Other then that there are only two other papers. Over all really great.
sat in the back, took some notes, read the book (sometimes) and got an A. didnt take attendance, easy grader, is clear about assignments. Lupo is odd, but his oddness is hilarious because he made the class laugh. such an interesting and helpful professor.
You get 1 midterm (in-class writing) based off 1 topic in class (tells you in advance). 1 book review - nonfict, final is summary paper (take home). Homework is reading and answering questions (less than 10) - share textbook to save money. Attendance not graded but recommended. Easy grader.
Really easy professor! 1 midterm , final is a take home summary paper. He gives you midterm study guide in advance. Homework is just a few questions from the book and some readings. 1 Book review . When I took this class, the TA graded everything and she was a lenient grader.
1 midterm (inclass), 1 book report, 1 final (summary paper), roughly 10 homework assignments - reading and answer questions. easy class.
Professor Lupo gives great lectures! He is hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. Not much homework. Only tests you have are a midterm (essay questions he gives you in advance), a book review, and a take home summary paper (again, he gives the questions to you in advance). I would definitely take him again.
literally one of the easiest classes i have ever take. he has clicker tests and they are so easy. he basically allows you to talk to the people around you. Got an A in this class. SUCH AN EASY A! I wish all my classes were this easy ahaha
You have a midterm and a final, he gives you the questions weeks in advanced and he also assigns a book report on a book of your choosing. Barely gave my class homework. Don't take late in the day without coffee, had a hard time staying awake sometimes but a very nice guy and a extremely easy class to take. Don't have to show but helps.
Book review, midterm, take home final, and some questions from the For the Record book. He gives great lectures. He keeps it interesting and fun. He had a TA in the class I took where she did most of the grading; she was a hard grader. She graded more on structure when it's about the context of the assignments. Overall, it was fun and easy.
Dr. Lupo is very funny and easy going. For our book we had to do questions for 710 chapters for full credit. One timed midterm, 1 research paper and 1 take home final. Study guides for tests. We watched 2 movies. He doesn't take roll, but he notices who is there consistently and who isn't. He is approachable and nice. Wants you to succeed.
Dr. Lupo is one of those professors that you would wish to take again. He is the most lenient professor that I have ever taken. He is very knowledgeable and passionate in the subject. He also gives out great lectures. As long as you put effort in your work, you'll get an easy "A." I highly recommended him.
Dr. Lupo is one of my favorite professors! I usually have dreaded history classes but Lupo makes the class very interesting and entertaining. He lectures the majority of the time but usually let us out 10 minutes early every class. There is only one test (the midterm), one take home test (the final), and barely any homework. Definitely take!!!!!
Dr. Lupo is an amazing professor! His lectures are really interesting. He does not use powerpoints so his words and comments flow smoothly. This class was one of my favorites. Plus the class is extremely easy; one midterm, one book review, one take home final, and few assignments from the textbook! It's hard to fail, and you learn loads!
In the beginning of every class Dr. Lupo brightens your day by saying funny comments. "Who wants to be a history major?" At the beginning of this course nobody raised their hand but at the end of the semester a couple of people did. His lectures are never boring. He'll assign a little bit of homework off of your reading textbook.
Great prof, is very funny, makes lectures fun, only thing I didnt like was that his T/A grades all the work, and TA was an extremely tough grader
Lupo was AMAZING!! I wasn't a history fanatic before but after taking this class I'm considering being a history major! super easy class, just 1 book review, 1 midterm, and 1 final thats take home. He also gives you helpful study guides that actually do help you! i recommend him to anyone, take him!
He is amazing. I used to hate history but the way he talks is very interesting and not boring at all. It was a very easy class, take notes during class and a few homework assignments. He also had a book review essay but honestly it was very simple to do. Midterms he gave you the prompt before hand and the final is a take home paper.
Only 3 major things due in this class. 1. An in class midterm where he gives you the direct questions, and does not change them, a week ahead of time. 2. A 3-5 page book review (double spaced so 1 1/2 page normal spacing). 3. A 5-6 page (double spaced) take home final that is turned in, in class. Great professor!
Very funny professor. Lets class out 10 minutes early almost every time. Lectures are easy to follow, almost in story format, lecture outlines are provided. Occasional homework. The midterm and final are in short essay format. Grades easy.
I loved this professor. He was so chill and nice about everything. He would always let us out 15 minutes early everyday. I stopped showing up after the midterms which were 2 essays and as long as you study for them, you're good. Barely any hw, no in class tests, and his writing assignments were easy! His book report was a pain, but its ok
SUPER EASY. The only assignments were about 3 readings, a mid-term, book report, and final. The mid-term is a in class essay, while the final is a take home essay (questions given ahead of time). Lets class out 5-20 minutes early everything. When he gives the final's questions you can start skipping class, as he doesn't give anymore assignments
Lectures are concentrated but its a very easy class. very lenient professor, he's funny too and easy grader
Best professor EVER! Super funny and great lectures. All his assignments are relatively easy for college. Might give an occasional quiz but even those quizzes are easy. Get to know him because he is a great person as well.
SO EASY! Hes also very funny and flexible when it comes to grading. He really cares about students.
He is a very funny and easy to understand. his lectures are actually very interesting. I would definitely recommend taking him, the textbook is required for homework but it is really easy.
Amazing!!!!!!! Best class I have ever taken. Always lets us out early and no final or tests.
Lupo is a knowledgeable professor who makes history fun. He is also very funny and lets the class out early everyday. For the assignments you have 5 weekly homework assignments, a 7 pg research paper or 2 three page book reviews, an easy midterm and a take home final. These assignments are easy as he is not a hard grader. Also accepts late work.
Great professor. Make sure to attend class because he gives important information on his lectures for quizzes and for your mid term. There is a book report and then a take home final! He throws jokes here and there as well. Just attend class and take notes and you will do good!
Lupo was one of my favorite professors from my Freshman year at Sac State. I had him for HIST17B and the class is pretty easy to take. He rarely gives out homework and in terms of the midterm, you have to write two essays. He will give the prompts to choose to write a few weeks before. If you need to take a US History class, take Lupo.
His TA makes the pop quizzes. For the whole semester we only had one or two homework assignments. Besides the pop quizzes, there is the book report and midterm. He gives you all the question ahead of time and he lets you out 15 minutes early. He doesnt grade with numbers, but letter grades. He also rounds grades.
Very laid back class. Passing with an A is extremely easy! Professor Lupo is eccentric and kind. He always lets class out early. 1 in-class essay midterm, 1 book review, 1 summary paper as well as some small hw assignments sprinkled in and no final.
Professor Lupo is amazing! I learned a TON in this class, plus it was cool as it was the first semester when it was ever taught as a new course. The course consists of an in class midterm, a final paper, and your choice of 1) A research paper, 2) Volunteer work + small description paper 3) 2 book reviews, related to class or textbooks. Take him!
I totally recommend, if you hate history and scared of failing then choose him as a professor. He explains the concept very well and hes also very easy. Youll only take about one quiz and one midterm and the final. He gives you the questions ahead of time btw so youre prepared.
Great professor. Technically only graded on 3 things: book review, 2 essay midterm (gives the questions in advanced), and a 2 essay summary paper as a last assignment. gave us 2 very easy extra credit opportunities. makes history fun and lets class out early everyday.
Since there are only a few assignments that are graded like the pop quizzes, the midterm, and papers I'd say put actual effort. Still work hard and don't turn in papers that you wrote a couple of hours before. Enjoy this class!
Im taking this in my freshman year, so far its easy. You show up, take notes, get let out early. Midterm was easy, he gives the questions beforehand, got a 93%. I didnt buy textbook, you can find the articles online. hes funny and cares about your grades. lectures are interesting. The EC map quiz boosted me 14% so I had a 114% in the class
Super nice & quirky & an EASY A! Take him if you can no hesitation! Final grade is made up of 2 papers, 2 exams (which are 2 VERY short answer q's), and other small participation assignments every now & then. During class he lectures for the ENTIRE class, but lets you guys out 10 mins early every time. Gives extra credit a few times!
Great professor and very funny. There is sometimes homework and pop quizzes about the readings. Lectures were in PowerPoint format when the class transferred to online. In-person, he just has an outline and talks about it. 3 papers in this class. A timed write about 2 prompts, a 3-5 page book review, and a 5-6 page summary paper about 2 prompts.
Professor Lupo was an amazing professor. If you are a visual learner, his lectures might be hard for you because he uses a word doc with bullet points. This was the first time he taught HIST17A, it was a great class and I would love to take more classes with him. He really helps you understand history.
Lupo had oral lectures so it's a good idea to show up to class. No final. Only 1 midterm that is 2 short essay questions, 1 book review paper, 1 summary paper, few pop quizzes, & an extra credit quiz. Responds to emails fast. Reading isn't super mandatory but will help you understand material better. Outline format for lectures when we went online
Professor Lupo is such a sweet guy, highly recommend!!! His lectures are very clear and interesting and as long as you show up and pay attention in class you should be fine. Textbook is not really needed but can really help when it comes to writing your papers. Easy A.
although I didn't get a chance to actually meet him due to COVID, he seemed like a ver chill and down to Earth person. we didn't have any zoom meetings and were just mainly assigned essay exams which were given 2 weeks to do. overall one of the better classes I got
Very friendly professor. He takes into account everybody when it came to asynchronous deadlines and extended one of our exams through the weekend. You have well over a week to do your exams, which are basically "pick two of three prompts and write an essay about each of them following these stipulations." If you can write essays, you'll pass ez
This class was very confusing in the beginning. The two textbooks were useless. There is weekly homework but you do not turn it in. It's pretty much just to keep you on track. There are about 3 or 4 6-page essays. Read his lecture summaries and you will do fine on the essays. I did not do any of the weekly homework and passed every exam with an A.
Not much to say about Lupo, easy A. Three essays, two "participation quizzes", and one extra credit opportunity throughout the span of a semester. Need I say more?
Super easy class! I had him for an asynchronous class so we never met at all. Throughout the whole semester it's just one quiz every week, one midterm paper, and a summary paper. Quizzes are easy with the lecture summaries he posts.
Insanely easy class- read the lecture summaries and youll fly past. Easiest A ever.
Asynchronous class, so it was easy. Lots of lecture summaries that are used for weekly quizzes. Quizzes are about 20 multiple choice questions. Midterm and final are 4-6 pages paper with 5 prompts to choose from. Never ever needed to interact with the prof. Textbook is not needed but quiz and paper could use it.
Professor Lupo was a fantastic instructor, had easy grading styles, and it was understandable that not everyone is a history major and is taking the course for credit. Hence, he is relaxed in his lectures. he makes the lecture easy to follow but can sometimes go fast. Quizzes are straightforward and are easy final papers every week in the lectures.
I loved being in Prof. Lupo's HIST17B course. He is a great teacher and holds interesting lectures. The quizzes are easy as long as you attend lectures and take notes. Midterm and Summary papers were the only two essays we wrote this Semester, and they were also very easy to do. I would definitely take his class again if I could.
Easy grader. Usually only one quiz per week. No midterms or final exams. Just pay attention to the lectures and it's hard to not do well in his class. He does his lectures well and keeps you interested in the materials. I recommend his class to anyone that is looking to take History 17B.
Dr. Lupo was an amazing professor. There were two participation quizzes, a midterm summary paper, either two book reviews or one research paper, and a final summary paper. His lectures were very interesting and I felt that I learned a lot from him. This semester, he allowed us to present our research papers or book reviews for extra credit.
So easy to work with. Happy to review your papers before you submit them. Do the reading and take notes in lecture and you will do great! His grading is super fair. You can tell he is passionate about what he teaches and his lectures are interesting. I am taking another of his classes next semester since I enjoyed his teaching style so much!
Class was very easy, he made class very engaging with stories, images, and videos. His exams were extremely easy if you took notes during the lecture, midterm and final exam essays were easy and lightly graded. Assigned no homework, aside from one weekly quiz which was easy. Had good organization to his lectures. Would absolutely recommend course.
Super easy weekly quizzes, only one midterm paper and one final exam paper. Would take again.
Professor Lupo was great. Lectures were fun and easy. All you have to do is go to class and take notes and youll pass the class. Quizzes were super easy. Midterm and Final were also easy, just writing an essay about one of the lecture topics. Also, he always let my class out 10 minutes early! Great guy and amazing teacher.
If you're taking History 17B get this teacher at all costs. The quiz's and midterms are very easy. He is a cool person in class when giving lectures. He does give extra credit and it boosts your grades up very easy.
Easy class! Professor is very organized and his lectures aren't boring. You'll do well as long as you take notes.
Professor Lupo is very nice and gives good lectures. He does talk fast though. You have a weekly quiz, and the answers are usually word for word what he states in his lectures. There are 3 essays and are graded by his TA. He gives no exams and drops your lowest quiz. He offered our class an extra credit map quiz, this is the only ec.
Amazing professor! Lectures were well structured and interesting, and important point were emphasized. Easy weekly quizzes that were straight from the lectures, and the two papers used lecture info only. The required book wasn't really necessary, but it wasn't a text book and was actually kind of interesting. Friendly guy as well :)
This class was great, the material is super interesting and has very clear grading. The quizzes are all based on lecture material, and all the reading material is easy to integrate into the midterm and final. It seemed like the reading was overwhelming at first but it gets easily broken down into whats necessary.
Professor Lupo is a great and funny person. You can tell that he really loves his job and care about the students. He allowed you to turn in late assignment as long as you explain him your reason. Very understanding and kind. I would take his class again.
Lupo was an amazing professor! Easy class with interesting lectures, and the textbook isn't really necessary aside from the midterm. He also offered a map quiz for extra credit. Easy to tell he loves his job, and if you take notes, you should be fine.
Made lecturing really engaging and fun. He was a great professor to listen to. Gave an extra credit map quiz. Lectures were extremely useful when it came to the weekly quizzes that weren't difficult. Three essays throughout the semester that were easy to complete with the notes.
Professor Lupo made history very interesting! His lectures were like listening to a story from one historical event in depth to another. His weekly quizzes were easy, which is all based on the notes from lecture. Three total essays, and one extra credit map quiz. If you attend his class and listen, and write well, you'll be fine! Great professor!
Dr. Lupo is a great person. This class was super interesting and I liked that he made the material easy to understand and would provide lots of examples. There's a few quizzes, a book review, a midterm paper, and a final paper, but he grades easily. Great course to take for your B5 requirement if you aren't a science-y person like me.
Dr. Lupo was an amazing professor. A midterm summary paper, either two book reviews or one research paper, and a final summary paper. His lectures are in person, only uploads the outline and has to attend class for the notes (notes are read to us and we have to type what he is saying).
Great Professor! His lectures were very interesting and filled with information I definitely learned a lot in this class. Professor Lupo was very engaging and his tests and papers were not difficult to complete at all. be prepared for short weekly quizzes and although attendance is not mandatory It is extremely beneficial to attend class regularly!
pretty good class, i would take again. I think there's a few journals, a few quiz and I think 2 major papers. no test
Even though there were no actual lectures since this was an asynchronous summer class the material was really interesting. He assigns A LOT of extra reading material but you don't actually need to read it all to write the essays. The quizzes are super easy too. Easy A as long as you don't fall behind. I wish I took this as a 16 week class tbh.
Took this course for my upper area B and it was the best! Extremely easy and if you follow the directions for the two essays (midterm and final) you will get an A. I got 100s on all my essays! Take this class with Lupo!!!!!!
Professor Lupo is such a sweet guy. I took this guy for both 17A and B, and passed both with an easy A. He has like 10 quizzes and drops your lowest grade, as well as an essay for your final and midterm. Quizzes are based off the notes of the lectures, which are easy if you pay attention in class. Great guy and great lectures.
Lectures don't includes slides or anything other than him speaking, so if you're an audio learner it works. If you're not, good luck. Assignments are easy, though directions are hard to find and they take a while to complete.
Very easy class to pass. Quizzes are pulled straight from his lectures. Papers are difficult if you don't do some of the readings. But he's a fairly easy grader, if you just follow the instructions you'll get full points. Very accommodating and would often extend deadlines for the papers as well.
Honestly, it was the best class I had all semester. He's super funny and makes the lectures super enjoyable. He does talk a bit fast depending on how slow you take notes.
Take. This. Class. Its honestly really hard to sum up why Scott Lupo is the best college professor ive ever had. The dude has such a sweet funny attitude, i feel bad when other students are talking loudly during his lectures. he gives weekly quizzes online where the questions are taken straight from lecture, and 2 essays due throughout the course
Feel bad bc I never attended lectures since attendance wasn't mandatory, but the topics are really interesting! He's a pretty chill guy and funny. Barely any hw other than quizzes, which you can manage with ppts he posts. No exams, just three papers. Not too hard to write. His way of speaking reminds me of a quiet book narrator lol
Take this class!!! 10/10 3 papers and 7 quizzes and everything was super clear and easy.
He is a great man overall:)
I took his History of Madness in the US course and he made it so interesting! Attendance was not mandatory but the quizzes are based solely on the in class lectures. I missed probably 1/3 of the classes and finished with a 95%. The content of his lectures were so interesting that I actually wanted to show up to class! 10/10 take this class!!
Extremely easy for a science class if you just do the work. 3 papers based on lecture slides and readings, and 7 quizzes all from slides. Just a heads up, he lectures directly from the slides! He is very nice, and the class is interesting. The only thing I disliked was the TA who knocked off unreasonable points on the papers, but that's about it.
I took his class and ended up with 101% with extra credit Online a few assignments you would need to do which are 3 essays and 7 quizzes The course is mainly lectures but attendance isn't a requirement as you can read the slides about the lectures you missed Both the essay and quizzes are easy The only reading you have to do is 1 book and lectures
Follow directions. Follow directions. Follow directions. He tells you specifically what he wants you to do. Do it and you will get an A. Do it not, and you will not.
Overall a very simple, straightforward class, and he really tries to make things as easy and chill as possible. Sometimes would push due dates back just because we asked. Quizzes/tests are incredibly easy so long as you listen to the lecture- which should be easy because they're pretty interesting and info is very clear.
Professor Lupo's class was a breeze! Just do the 3 essays and 7 quizzes based on his clear lecture slides. No need to stress about attendance - the content is engaging enough that I wanted to go to class. Unstuck AI was a game-changer for prepping.
Professor Lupo was a great professor and understood that his class met the upper division requirement and many of the students were not history majors. Attendance was not mandatory and quizzes are based off the slides from class. Essays were simple and fun to write.
Great class and great professor. Interesting and organized. Good in class lectures, weekly quizzes on lectures in Canvas. Keep up with readings. A few essays but clear expectations and the content is so interesting it doesn't really feel like work. Plus, the topic is just a really important topic and can help to decrease stigma and ignorance.
read everyone else for the real reviews -- but, as someone who is not the best student, take this class. you get as much as you want out of this class -- cool guy; lectures are full-on performances, for the first couple of classes. i'll remember you forever, prof. lupo.
This class was by far the easiest class I have taken at sac state. Class was twice a week but attendance was not mandatory, more than half the class didn't go. Lectures consist of reading off his slides word for word, he posts the lecture presentations online. Total of 7 quizzes that had questions right from slides. Three easy papers.
He is not that bad. His lectures are a bit boring, even though the material is interesting. The class itself is pretty straightforward and not really difficult. However, his monotonous voice made it hard to stay awake at times.
Prof. Lupo was genuine and helpful. Several quizzes, some exams, and some essays. There were a handful of textbooks, but you really don't need to buy all of them, and one of them is freely accessible. If you miss lectures, go over his slides. Straightforward and interesting, A good pick for your upper-division physical science GE. Take him.
Great teacher! Hope to have him again!
Dr. Lupo was great! I took his fully asynchronous class, and it was basically a weekly quiz (super easy) and two essays. One is the midterm, the other is the final. For both, you're able to pick from a good number of prompts, and they're only 3-5 pages and graded pretty leniently. As long as you give a little effort, it's a pretty easy class!
Dr. Lupo had interesting lectures, even though not my major made history interesting. He had a Midterm paper, Book report, and Summary paper. He had clear grading criteria and made it simple to do. He had 7 quizzes that were doable. I would definitely take again, class work was very doable!
Professor Lupo is very knowledgeable, and the course is fairly easy overall. Your grade is based on three papers and weekly quizzes. Attendance isn't required, but lectures are helpful for both quizzes and papers. He doesn't use PowerPoints, so staying focused in class is important to keep up.
Amazing professor. Shares interesting content, his entire course is lecturing, but they aren't bad at all. Only a few papers for the midterm and final, and he is not too strict on grading. Weekly quizzes are easy. You can really tell that he is passionate for the subject.
Kind, understanding, he always gave us and extra day or two to turn in midterms and finals. Genuinely thought about minoring in disability studies to get to get to learn from him.
Dr. Lupo is a great professor! He allows for class discussion on certain subjects and it is clear that he enjoys teaching about madness in history. Highly recommend taking his courses. His lectures are pretty quick which is an adjustment at the beginning but you get used to it, it is also nice for those who have a short attention span.
There are a few readings but they are not needed to pass the course, as long as you attend lectures and take notes youll be fine. There are weekly quizzes and papers for midterm and final, but you get alot of freedom to pick the topic.
He goes through lectures pretty fast; beware if you take notes on paper! He's very passionate about what he's teaching and gives great lectures. Handful of writing assignments and readings you have to do, but the prompts are straight forward and aren't difficult. Quizzes and exams are very lecture heavy, but they come straight from the slides.
