Pretty cool guy, layed back, but his notes do not go by the book so it's pretty challenging, unless you're just good at History
Easy af, just listen to his lectures and the notes are just mnemonics. Quizzes are a joke, and exams are straight from the notes.
A pretty laid-back teacher. His notes are slide shows you just copy down (but there are PLENTY of notes you need to study to pass a test). Makes the class a bit more entertaining with jokes. In my experience, he has recommended highly you read certain parts of the textbook, but has never assigned any readings.
Mr. Maloney is such a great teacher. His PowerPoints alone can be a bit confusing but if you listen, he explains them in depth. He jokes around and makes his lectures fun. You could pass this class easy but just taking good notes! I am taking another class of his because I loved him so much!
He is a really knowledgeable teacher, and his lectures are interesting. As other students have said tests require a lot of studying. The key to getting a good grade on tests is not only copying what is on the pp slides but taking notes over what he is saying, as the slides are only bullet points.
Pretty laid back kinda guy, loves to talk about history and really knows his stuff, takes notes on what he actually says as well as the power points and you should be fine. he hates the book so don't worry about it. suggested readings are the bill of rights and the constitution. also a couple of essays which he assigns at the beginning of the year.
Good teacher , his lectures are interesting. He is very helpful and his class is pretty easy. Just take good notes and listen to his lectures.
Mr. Maloney is a hard professor. He doesnt use the books, his lecture is too fast paced to take decent notes, and he gives no review or anything. the exams are pretty far apart, meaning you have more material to absorb and remember. An essay is due every exam, as well as 6 short essay questions, and about forty MC questions..
NO use for the book! He is ausome! Pay attention in lecture and take good notes and youll get a good grade. His lectures are interesting and he is very funny. We watch cool movies. Fun class over all. not boring! take Him!!
Great Professor!!! Had this sememster for Hist 1301 and did great!!! Take notes on what is SAID as well as on Powerpoint. Ask Questions - Organize notes - Will be taking 1302 in the Fall! He did give a review sheet and allowed time for questions!!! Very helpful!
Great teacher, He does tell some funny jokes. if your a liberal you might role your eyes on a few things he says but he is still a great teacher. the power points and notes are excellent. if you pay attention in class you will pass with no problem. he is also a very easy grader. just a good person in general
Great professor; but, VERY hard class to make an A on. the 3 Exams are worth 60% of the grade and quizzes 20%. doesn't really give you any kind of review he just tells you we have a quiz/exam. Worked by butt off and still got a B. If you're already good at history, take him, if not, than take someone else.
He's really laid back and really knows his stuff but it was often confusing understanding what he was talking about because he just keeps talking non stop the whole time. you have multiple choice quizzes before each test and the tests consist of 40+ multiple choice and 6 short answer. way too much to study honestly.
Took him for 1301 and then again for 1302. Great teacher! Just go to class and pay attention to lecture and you are set! He hates the book, never opened in in both classes. Will have to work for your test grades though. He even throws his own family history in there which is nice as it is a different perspective on history. Love his humor!
He is a good professor. His quizzes are pretty easy and he gives you the answers to all bonus questions right before any test or quiz so you get easy points. You only have a few essays to write (only a page long). His tests aren't hard but he does cover quite a bit of material. I recommend taking him during a regular semester.
Quizzes are easy. Tests are not, you really have to study specially for multiple choice but essays help you pass. Have to write one super easy research paper. He is a Republican at heart and will probably apply his views on every lesson, which can get really annoying to liberals. If you miss class he can email PowerPoints to you if you ask nicely.
If you attend every single day, should be fairly easy. No use of book, no reviews for tests. There are quizzes, 4 tests, & a 3-5 page writing assignment. Test are very deceiving. Wouldn't recommend taking him, but if you are willing to work hard, should be okay.
Quirky guy, very laid back , and knows his stuff. Respect him and you will definitely be rewarded. Overall easy class. You'd have to be an idiot not to realize his quizzes come straight from the notes, as the tests from both. Highly recommended.
Mr. Maloney is a very laid back teacher who does not give out any homework what so ever in this class. You do have to know your notes and pay attention in order to pass his quizzes. Many of my peers and I realized that what he teaches are usually not on the test so be careful. Essays are assigned before each test, except the final. Hope this helps!
He is easily the best and most fun professor I've had so far. His lectures are interesting as well as informative. As long as you show up to class and actually pay attention this class is the easiest A you will ever find. No homework and the tests/quizzes come directly from the lecture. Don't bother buying the book. I definitely recommend him.
I took him in summer 1. He was very helpful even when I turned my paper in late. I would definitely take him again and suggest for others to take him as well
Very nice teacher!! Gives answers right before quizzes and gives a review. Take very good notes and it's an easy A. All questions from tests and quizzes are word for word in notes! Also very understanding if situation comes up in your personal life, just talk to him and he'll except late papers.
Very laidback and sarcastic (in a good way). Multiple choice can be tricky, but the short answer and the essay (assigned the class before) helps you do well. Pay attention to his lecture, and you should be good to go. Gives extra credit on tests (and tells you the answer), and also curves tests. Very opinionated, and isn't afraid to show it.
Be sure to listen to his lectures, just taking notes from the powerpoint is not enough! He is a great professor and cracks a lot of jokes, which I enjoyed. His quizzes are very easy and offers extra credit for most of them. His tests are tricky, so be sure to study hard!
Great guy and makes lectures interesting. Take notes, look at them(outside of class) and you should have no problem making A in this class. Exams can be tricky but he will answer questions, you just need to ask.
Best teacher at TCC!!! I took him for Hist 1301 and loved him so much that I took him for 1302 as well. He is extremely passionate about history and really knows his stuff. You don't need a textbook. Don't skip class and take good notes over what he says. He will go out of his way to help his student, so ask for help if you need. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Hes a chill guy besides history being a boring subject he made it interesting to listen during lecture with his sarcastic humor. Look over your notes for the tests and quizzes and you should be fine. The essays weren't too hard, just recommend getting them out of the way. I would deff take a class with him again
Mr. Maloney is a great professor. He is more than willing to help. If you miss a quiz or an exam he will let you take it at a later date. He will also send you power points if you miss a class, all you have to do is ask. His class, for me, was not that easy, but I'm not that into History and I took both History's 1 & 2 in 16 weeks.
Mr. Maloney is an awesome instructor. He has great passion for the subject. Text book not required his class is completely lecture based. I highly recommend recording his lectures and going back and filling in your notes. Tests are tricky but quizzes are a breeze if you pay attention. No homework! I hope to take him for 1302!
He knows his stuff. Confusing to understand because he just keeps talking non stop the entire time. Study outside of class or you might get a low grade. Multiple choice quizzes before each test and the Tests are 40+ multiple choice plus 6 short answer questions and an essay. Way too much to study in short period of time. Don't recommend
Took the 8 wk course & do not suggest it. Take him full semester b/c in a short period of time, you will have a lot to digest. Take good notes b/c he does not use a book & they will be necessary as guidelines to study and research for those quizzes & tricky tests. This class was 3 hrs long, but he applied humor which kept us involved.
He is very interesting speaker, however this class does take a lot of effort. Pages upon pages of notes, and no idea what from those notes will be on his exams. He also requires 2 long essays in the semester as well. 3 tests, and probably 5 quizzes per semester as well. He is nice and will help if you need it though.
Mr. Maloney is great because his powerpoints are straightforward. If you pay attention and study hard, you will pass. The quizzes are easy but the tests are very tricky.
Mr. Maloney was very passionate about the subject. Quizzes are pretty easy, tests are tricky because most questions ask " which is NOT...." But he was pretty chill and funny. Gave bouns questions & the answers for them!
This professor was one my favorite professors at TCC. He is willing to help you whenever you need it. He understands his students have a life outside of school. Quizzes are easy, tests are tricky because most of the questions are "which are not.." Take notes, they will help a lot. Overall the best professor at TCC!!!
Professor Maloney is easily the best History teacher I've ever had. I took his 1301 and 1302 class and enjoyed both classes. He always makes cheesy jokes, but will keep you laughing everyday. Very energetic, and his lectures are very interesting.
I am taking him right now and would definitely recommend. You have 2 essays, 5 quizzes, 3 exams including the final. Half the test grade comes from a short essay you write before you come to class on the test day. He is very understanding and he will give you more time if you need it. The only thing is you have to listen and take notes to pass.
I like Mr. Maloney. He's very lenient and accepts late work. We had 5 quizzes which were easy & 3 tests. The test included multiple choice questions, short answers (you choose 6) and an essay (1 page). We had 2 papers about veterans (4 pages, single spaced)- that was my worst part of the class. I took him during the summer tho. He's a nice guy:)
He says you don't need the book but you do. His notes on the powerpoints are useless. Instead take notes on what he says even though everyone is taking powerpoint notes. Be prepared for a ton of info! Buy the book no matter what he says! Great teacher for history. He makes it interesting and he's funny but still pretty challenging on his tests.
I am so grateful I took his class! He creates clear PowerPoints that I highly recommend you take notes on. If you study the notes, you'll pass all five quizzes. There were two short essays that require particular criteria, but he is kind while grading. He's a passionate professor and is full of Dad jokes. Take this class!
Awesome teacher, even when we had that class early in the morning, he still kept me awake. Pretty funny and makes boring material funny. Tests are pretty easy and you have the semester to write both essays he requires. No homework, just take notes and youll be fine! Would take him again.
With this being my first history class it was a bit tough instead of me doing history 1 in then history 2. Im doing history 2 And Ill go back to do History 1 so it was a little challenging for me. Mr. Scott was absolutely amazing he broke everything down to make sure that you understand and he himself was very understanding. I enjoyed Fall2017!
I took History 2 before History 1 & I loved the class. I am ok at history but Mr. Maloney made the class enjoyable. He really breaks down things to help his students retain the information & really cares about his students & their success. Definitely take him!
Maloney is cool as hell. some jokes will go over your head, some jokes will be corny, some jokes are hilarious, then its jokes like wow did he really say that lol. He doesn't mind late work as long as you tell him it'll be late he's very reasonable!!
He is a super nice and funny. He makes history less boring and painful, plus He gives extra credit. The notes and quizes are straight from your notes and he gives you reviews as well. I recommend this teacher for sure!
He is very lenient and understanding. He makes quirky comments during his lectures to keep it funny and not so dreadful when you have an 8am. He is very fair in grading. Yes, you will have to write down a lot of notes and the bulletins on his PowerPoints are not thorough, all you have to do is pay attention. Very clear on lectures and bonus answers
The teacher is good but the test can be hard. You will take notes in every time you come to class. For extra credit you will wright 2 papers that have to be four pages long and single space. The quiz is more hard than the test and a lot of quizzes and they brought my grade done more. But he is a good teacher.
This professor makes a lot of jokes that will go over your head. I took him for summer session and it was easy. There was definitely a lot of information given and you will write a lot from the power points. The only thing that was annoying was you have to write two essays (both 5 pages). Other than that I recommend him.
Mr. Maloney is one of the best history teachers I've had he is very charismatic, funny and is very easy to talk to. If you are taking 1301 or 1302 THIS IS THE TEACHER YOU WANT. The book isn't used much in class but is a great reference tool, most of the material for tests and quizzes comes from the lecture and his PowerPoint.
Hes the best professor Ive had. I am not good at history and its not my best subject for sure, but he makes it very enjoyable and you do learn a lot.
He gives some quizzes throughout the semester about his lectures. He never gives reviews for his tests except the final. Hes gives you 2 essays at the beginning of the semester that arent due until later on so you have time to do it. On his test and quizzes he always gives you the answer for the bonus question
Wonderful history teacher. His lectures were very military focused which kept things interesting. Gives the answers to his extra credit questions during lectures. Shows little to no political bias. His two research papers are a lot of work, but both topics were interesting to learn more about. Show up, pay attention, take notes, easily pass class.
Maloney was a very good teacher and could definitely keep our attention. If you take notes then you will be fine, his quizzes are super easy and he gives the answer to the bonus question in his lectures. The papers are kinda long but not hard at all. The test are not that difficult, i would definitely recommend this class to anybody.
Professor Maloney makes History very engaging. He is super sweet! The class is not that hard if you study, everything comes from the notes during his lectures. Never a boring moment in the class. Would recommend to anyone, and I would also take him again. One of my favorite professors at TCC! He is very caring and understandable.
ok so he has two major papers and only two tests, and four quizzes so there aren't many grades which can make it difficult to make a steady grade. the papers are long but if you cover in detail you get an A. goes by powerpoint but they aren't available on BB so you have to show up.
Makes jokes, super chill, no worksheets, easy quizzes (sometimes lets you use notes), just write notes, long essays (gives you 3 weeks to do) but overall an easy class just show up I would definitely have him again
Professor Maloney is an amazing professor! I took him for a summer class, and it was easy as long as you do the work. We had 3 test, 4 quizes, and 2 papers due. Extra credit given and notes on quiz.
He is funny and you can tell he cares about his students and the class. I do not like history so much but he makes the class interesting, never boring. He has cool ties. TAKE HIM FOR HISTORY!!
Great Professor, can be complicated but very eye opening. Class was so great I'm returning in July to do HIST1302, Cool ties and throws the dad jokes during lecture. No need to get a book, highly historic guy and info from this class helps in GOVT2305 & 2306. You'll get plenty of chance to get your grade up but it will depend on how much you care..
Do NOT take him for online. he writes out his lectures for you to read on word and is very unorganized and slaps all the files you need for his course in random order and you basically have to figure out yourself which ones go with each week. there was no formal intro to the class. this professor GLORIFIES the military rather than teaching history.
He was ok. Two papers were required but there was no rubric. He gives everyone an 85 unless it's exceptional? I think this is ridiculous because why bust your rear to do a paper and still get an 85? Overall, it was an easy A, but the grading for the papers bothered me considering they had to be 6-8 pages!
I took him for both HIST 1301 and HIST 1302. It was an easy class with two essays each semester. He grades very easily and there are five quizzes and 3 tests. He's a great professor and the best one I have taken.
AMAZING! Clearly defined expectations. Helpful, kind, wants to see you succeed! Nothing too heavy as far as material or time spent. Power points very helpful. Look these over, read notes, you'll do great in this course. Responds quickly to emails. Funny! Get behind or need clarification, he will assist. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
NO ANSWERS ON CHEGG OR QUIZLET!! This professor will assign you a 6 page essay and a 8 page essay due within 2 weeks of each other. He will also guarantee no matter how hard you work you will not receive an A unless you go above and beyond. No one gets As on his papers. Very Tough grader, lacks communication. Horrible and will never take him again
It is true that this professor gives you two different essays. One 6 pages long and the other 8 pages long and yes they are due within two weeks of each other but he informs you of this at the beginning of the semester, so you literally have a month to do this work. His work is really not hard, just apply yourself. I would take this course over.
Professor Maloney is the absolute best TCC history professor! His lectures are engaging and interesting and his quizzes are always super easy. His exams, on the other hand, have some very very difficult questions but sometimes he lets you do the exam at home. The essays are very easy and it's easy to get an A on them if you make it interesting.
Be ready to write! His two papers: 6 and 8 pages are no joke, and he expects you to write like an college student. You don't like writing papers - don't take him. His quizzes are made up by him so no quizzlet and cheating - he thought through that. His lectures are worth going so you can take notes and ask questions. He's not easy and he knows that
Amazing professor. I found his class fun and I would gladly take his class again. The test and the quizzes are easy to understand and the lectures are entertaining. The lectures were long but important because I found that it helped me with History 1302.
He gives the PowerPoint and script on Canvas, so if you miss something, you can just look back and catch up. Quizzes are taken at home, and notes are allowed on the exam. The essays may look scary initially, but they are given four months in advance and graded leniently. Overall a very good professor; just don't call him Mr. Baloney as I did.
Mr. Maloney is a great history professor. Sometimes quizzes are online and due after school and he lets you use notes during exams. Exams also come with short answer responses. 2 6-8 page essays per semester and he gives you months in advance to do them. No homework and the class is very easy to understand
One of the best professors I have ever had and will have in my entire life. He teaches very in-depth and is very passionate about his class. He had the patience to listen to all students and gives lots of materials that relate to the topic. Like a piece of the Berlin Wall or specific money from different time periods. He is the best professor ever.
Mr. Maloney is an cool and good professor! He only gives quizzes, exams and 2 6 and 8 page essays. He is really funny and he is really into history. If you ever want help about history he is the right guy. Personally, history will never be interesting for me, but the way he taught made it somewhat interesting. He gives you enough time to do work.
I enjoyed how this teacher has taught us and feel like I can understand the material better in his lectures
Mr. Maloney the GOAT. He fr was so chill as long as you aren't loud and talking in his class your good. He loves Zena the warrior Princess. He also likes Friends the show. Online Quizzes and Exams.
Professor Maloney was the best professor. His quizzes and exams are online. He likes Friends.
he was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny
He was Kind and Carring
If u had the option to only take this class for pay, I would deny it and instead take it for 200000000000x the normal amount of money to take the class.
luh chill
Mr. Maloney is my gng nem. Literally all his quizzes match definition to terms and his papers I just used my resources because they're on paper. His test and final are multiple choice too. His teaching style is just what he wants so a lot of military focus. He also be giving bonus points on all the quizzes.
My name is Peter O and I love this guy.
He called me his friend. (:
Scott Maloney's fervor for history shapes minds through storytelling and analysis. With personalized feedback, he nurtures curiosity, inspiring students to pursue their interests. As a mentor, he fosters critical thinking and understanding. Inspires lifelong appreciation for history's relevance, leaving a mark on scholars.
Prof. Maloney is a very knowledgeable man. Everything you need to know about the course is in the syllabus at the start of the semester. You have lots of time to prepare for the essays, which are graded leniently. If you miss information in his lectures, he provides notes over the lectures online which are very thorough. Overall, take this class.
I really loved Prof. Maloney's class!!! He lectures for most of it, but they are interesting, funny, and engaging. He assigns 2 essays due within short periods, but he tells you at the beginning of the semester about both of them. All exams are taken home with 8 short answers. I would 100% recommend this teacher if you have the chance to take him.
