Awsome prof, really cool and simplifies economics and doesnt teach it to us like were Master's students. He's pretty funy.
Best prof at Langara!
The guy is a ****. He always second guesses himself and his writing is almost impossible to read. Pretty easy exams and easy marker tho
Funny, explains things clearly and in terms you understand.
awesome teacher. Midterms/quizzes were fair, also very fair marker. Wants you to succeed. Cracks a funny joke here and there.
Fun, young, entertaining.
The material for this course is hard to understand but Scott is a great Instructor and he is also very helpful. Compare to most Economic teacher, he is the best, one of my favourite. Young and hot instructor.
He's new, but he's a really good teacher. Very nice person too. Keep it up!!! ALthough his lectures can make me sleep, he teaches pretty well already. Keep it up!
If you want to learn Econ, then take him. Great instructor and is willing to take the time and effort in helpping students if need. Eveything is really based on the textbook so read it. Econ is not easy, but Scott will try his best to make you understand. =)
Scott is a very young prof, with an abundance of humour. His lectures are extremely boring, however, seeing how difficult the material is, he actually is doing a good job. All the material in class is a reworded copy of the textbook - so read it. Material is hard in this course, so try hard to understand it. He is very helpful, would take again!
He only wants the students to understand/appreciate the material correctly, nothing more. He's extremely flexible and willing to talk you through any issues you have with the economy, even if it's not printed in the textbook. Highly recommended!
Great Prof. He does his best to help you success. As long as you are keeping up with the readings, following his recommended questions and attending his classes, you'll do fine. Highly recommended!
He is a really great teacher. He helps student a lot. and his lecture is easy to understand. Everybody should take his class!!
Despite the boring lectures, Scott tries really hard to have fun in his class. He's fairly new (2nd semester teaching) and at times in uncertain of the material he is trying to touch. Overall, if you stick to the textbook, you'll have no problems acing the tests.
Scott helped make a very boring subject easier to understand. He doesn't assign textbook reading but it definately helps if you read the book. Take down all the graphs on the board, if you miss a class pair up cause you may miss something important. If you miss a key concept go talk to him, he's relaxed and willing to help you understand.
He is a young but quite responsible teacher. Really cares for his work and students. His lectures are not that exciting but exams are fairly easy. Lots of office hours and very patient. Be sure to study the textbook and the chapter summary he gives out, and it's not hard to get a satisfactory result.
Kinda new teacher - which is why the courses he teaches are easy... If u want to wing the course and not learn much take it... If ur serious about learning something DO NOT TAKE his courses. All in all, easy to get a good grade but it'll be hard if u need his course as a prereq for the next level.
He is definitely the "chillest" teacher I've ever had. If you go to class -or don't- you'll do well. He gives nothing for free, but he's one of the nicest, fairest teachers at Langara. This is a course where you can read the text, and you'll ace it. I took him for both 1st year Econ courses on purpose, and it was great. Thanks!
The best prof ever, he talks about random econ stuff at before his class, class could be boring but as long as you read the book you will do fine, exams are not tricky, probably the best prof I ever have
best prof ever. really good looking too. Highly recommend
he's a good teacher even though so far I didn't do well in his class cus I didn't spend time on it:( He teaches very clearly, and I learned a lot in his class.I never missed one of his classes, and he also has a good personality.

Young teacher. doesn't really know how to teach. NOT knowledgeable. he has confusion about the materials he teaches as well. Comparing with my previous Econ instructor, his class is kinda a joke, but he's responsible instructor thought. I have to give him credits on that. if you really wanna learn econ, don't take his class.
I just took his class for this spring semester. He's a very helpful prof. through out the entire course and provided a lot of useful information. Attendance, taking notes during the classes, and doing the assignments are very important as well as doing the Study Guide questions. Oh, btw, he's also one of the good looking porfs in the campus :P
Just to make some adjustment. I wrote a wrong class section....
LOVE THIS CLASS! He's young and obviously need more experience in teaching. However u can tell he's trying to answer all the confusion there is to Econ. He's funny and I would recommend him. Got an A in his class! Easy exam if you study, no curve balls!
Young, but very intelligent. As long as his assigned readings are read, you'll be alright. He's not very strict about attendance but if you miss some classes, you might feel lost in the discussions.
He put a lot of effort into teaching the class, and it really helped to understand the stupid convoluted econ textbook. He's also really good looking, which kind of helps.
Pretty good prof.
one of the best teachers I've had. I find a lot of it had to do with him always being enthusiastic and very helpful. Even if hes faking it, he gets really excited when people ask him questions and it makes everyone more engaged in class. pretty cool dude.
One of the best prof at Langara. He cares a lot about his students. He will always try his best to help. For instance, i was late for a exam one time, he gave me some extra time to write the exam, though he does not encourage people being late for exams. His lectures are interesting and clear. And, he is the nicest, friendly person you can find in Langara: definitely recommended. If you want Econ, you want Scott.
Scott tries to make econ easy to students. But his lectures are boring since he needs more experiences in teaching.More office hours, nice and patient. Most importantly, his exams are not tricky, easy to pass. On the other hand, he is a good-looking and lovely guy at Langara. Highly recommend him!
Scott is an amazing prof! He's patient, helpful, funny & truly cares about his students! His exams are not tricky, just make sure you read the text and use the study guide! Scott is always avail to help students will make arrangements to help you at a diff time if you can't make it during his many office hours! He is really cute (think Adam Brody!)
ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS IN LANGARA. STUDY HARD WITH TEXT AND STUDY GUIDE AND ASSIGNMENT!
He is frieking awesome! Hes super friendly and not to mention good looking. He teaches during the fall and summer so its worth waiting to take him cause hes really awesome!
He's an okay prof. Sometimes he gets confused with what he's teaching. Really need to read the book because his notes aren't that helpful. In fact you have to make your own notes up. Only has two assignments and a few quizzes which are fair if you study. Midterm isn't really that easy, gotta study hard for it.
He's an alright professor. His classes are very boring which is why only half the class shows up most of the time. He confuses himself so its hard to understand what he's teaching. Book and studyguide are needed since his notes aren't that detailed. Has 2 assignments and a few quizzes. Have to study hard for his midterm in order to get a good mark.
For micro: He's a good guy who tries his best to communicate to the class. Econ is like its own language. The required study guide was hard to follow-through and I wished he went through that in his lectures. He goes over his overhead notes which is basically all theory. Exams are mostly problem-solving. Concept > theory.
Go to class!! The little things he says are meant to be filled in on your notes and are very helpful for understanding the material. He's always around after class for questions. Despite being an awesome prof, the material can be dry at times which turns some of the class away from lectures.
Excellent instructor, very enthusiastic with the material and it helps a lot when he related the course info. to current econ news. He is funny and always encourage people to ask questions.
Really easy. Super nice. Super helpful. Absolutely hilarious. You don't have to go to any classes to do well, he will always have notes for you. But don't miss him, because he is really entertaining and fun. A nice break in a hectic day. Can't wait to take another class.
Scott is a great guy and an awesome teacher. He makes the class fun by putting things in relateable situations. He also explains things in plain language and is always willing to provide extra help. Great sense of humour and very enthusiatic. Scott actually made me want to go to econ class, something I had no interest in beforehand.
He is a easy marker, funny instructor, and always trying to help you, but not explains things clearly. You should read books and do the study guide. Although we practise short answer questions so much, but the final only has multiple choice questions. That is unreasonable.
He's very nice, friendly, helpful, and an easy marker, but he doesn't really teach well. He often tells jokes in class, but he doesn't have the enthusiasm level I'd expected from an instructor. He posts all the notes and assignments in his blog. No quizzes, 3 assignments throughout the semester, no research papers.
Great teacher!!
It's hard not to develop a crush on Scott. He is sweet and funny and is always willing to help his students. Beyond that, his teaching is extremely scattered. The subject isn't easy and the study guide helps A LOT but it's still a challenging class. Sadly, I probably won't take his class again. You will need the text AND study guide to do well.
he's good
He is just perfect professor. He memorizes his students' name and nationality. Also, his lecture is really really helpful to understand microeconomics. I really recommend this professor.
You could pass the class by reading the textbook, but Scott has a way of making thing easier to understand and certainly interesting, using examples with apples and oranges he also lend time for questions and is supper helpful in office hours. Assignments are an easy grade booster and tests are similar to practice exams..
Scott is so kind. He remembers his students and really makes an effort to make class as understandable and easy as can be (given such a difficult subject). Make use of his office hours!! He is there and completely devoted to you. An A is completely achievable, but with minimal effort and by attending lectures you can get a B.
Scott is an amazing prof. As long as you put enough efforts(attend the lectures, do the assignments, and ask questions), you should be able to get a good grade. Go to Scott's office hours. He is very helpful!
SM is a prince. i lived in fear of ECON for almost the entirety of my undergrad. I had terrible experiences in the past with bad teachers so I put micro off until the very end. SM is one of the most helpful, funny and lovely instructors i've ever had (and i've had a lot). i struggle with ECON but always felt supported and prepared because of SM.
best econ teacher i have had, he made everything really clear and easy to understand, he was a funny guy too, made going to class fun
Scott is THE BOMB. He's super nice and approachable, and will always answer your questions. Make sure you attend class to fill them in and take notes on what he says. Exams are easy & not tricky at all. Second midterm was much longer than the first, so make sure you use your time wisely. Barely studied and I got a B+. Love you Scott!!!!
He was just so nice!!! This is my first time use RateMyProf, for him. For lecture, he was really friendly and willing to help you. In office hour he's always able to give you extra time for your one more question. When I was late in my midterm, he gave me 5 min extra to finish my exam! For person, he is so handsome and always smile to you!
Scott is a really nice guy, but I didn't find his lectures to be very useful. He teaches u the theory and concepts in class but tests are more like problem-solving, which he doesn't go over. He rushed through the semester trying to get as many chapters in as he could, without stopping to explain a lot. Tests are okay if u really study. Fair marker.
Best teacher
I bought the book but did not need it at all. He provides you with his own notes and that is his lecture. He uses real life examples and tries his best to explain concepts as simple as possible. Great teacher for economics.
He is the best teacher ever!!!!!
The best prof ever !!!!
Scott is one of the most caring and chill profs Ive met at Langara.
Simply the best professor at Langara! Clear lectures, no surprises on midterms or exams, caring and helpful to students who have questions. Because of his amazing way of teaching I even considered majoring in econ. (I used to hate this subject back in high school).
So caring to students as he keeps posting additional lectures on blogs so that students can keep up with it, and they turns out so helpful. The tests were mostly based on what you've learned so make sure to understand all important concepts. Should not skip his class even just 1 day, as it just makes you a lot more behind.
The best!!!
Makes his lectures super interesting because he's so funny. Really cares abd wants you to do well. Will literally explain and re-explain until you feel confident. Best. Prof. Ever.
he is very nice and humble
he's nice but his lecture is not really clear, even the textbook is more helpful and his note is kinda hard to read
His teaching is pretty awful, have to spend plenty of time studying on your own. he's too slow in the previous chapters and rushed through the last chapters. he didn't post any grades during the semester, only got the final grade at the end of the term which didn't make any sense to me, tough grader btw.
Scott is a great teacher. It is easy to get an A if you study. He cares a lot about his students.
Scott is a blessing of a prof, take his class. Best econ teacher in this school. Pay attention in class and study the notes for exams. Always ask him questions as he helps a lot.
He is nice and knowledgeable, but the lectures are a lil boring, but i think he did a great job, recommend him.
He is so amazing. As long as you focus on his lecture, you will get a good grade. Run to his office before exam as it will help you a lot. He is the best professor!
Do the practice questions Try your best to understand the concepts in class. If you have questions, don't hesitate to find Scott during office hours. 90+ for A+, 5 assignments, 5 in-class quizzes (MCQ only), 2 midterms (SQ only) and 1 final exam (MCQ + SQ) I am grateful to work with him this semester. He is an incredible instructor!!
Scott's an awesome professor arguably the best econ prof in Langara I suggest completing all of his practice works that he gives before each and every quizzes, midterms and finals as they're all based on it. His notes might be a little bit hard to understand and he kind of rushes every last part of each chapter so make sure to do your own studying.
The best instructor ! You won't regret it, just take this course with him.
Scott is awesome, you won't regret taking him. Some of the concepts are sometimes not totally clear the first time around, but he is very accessible if you need further clarification. His assignments and tests are quite fair. I advise you do not miss class as every concept compounds on the next, so you may be slightly loss if you miss a lecture.
Took econ with a different prof before and enjoyed Scotts class much more and did much better. Scott gives clear lectures that are very easy to follow even with tough chapters. He also makes the lectures enjoyable in the mornings by being funny, and by being engaging with students. Would take again for sure.
I took micro with him and he's one of the sweetest profs ive ever met. Sad it was an 8:30am class tho--he's funny and makes jokes and people were too tired to laugh ;-; The textbook was available for reference and stuff but we didn't have to like study the chapter from it necessarily. I would take his class a million times over tho I love Scott!
he is the most positive professor in this college believe me. He is very kind and generous and listens to your problems patiently. If you are taking any economics course , I would definitely refer him.
he is very positive. His exams are difficult. He is caring about his students and you can talk to him anytime. I would take him again.
Best Econ prof ice had at Langara. I loved his class. Econ isn't easy but he definitely makes it doable.
My favourite prof ever. Best Econ prof I have taken at Langara. Cares about his students and puts everything in terms that are easy to understand. I would take any class with Scott.
Morning classes were fun!
he is just a best professor I have ever seen at Langara. In-class quiz is based on his multiple choice questions problems on his website. Very kind to everyone and try to help all students to understand the lecture I usually skip 8:30am classes a few times but I didn't skip this class at all. GOAT.
This guy was the goat. I enjoyed his class and he was very caring. Except his lectures were kind of boring and I fell asleep a lot. I respect that man and I would do anything for him. He is my true inspiration and I will forever look up to him as my father figure.
He's a really tough grader if you're not writing by the books in your exams get ready to lose marks. His lecture's were kinda boring though I feel he is a good person he is trying to help you with topics but since it's a pretty big class there's only so much he can do. I would not take him again he failed a lot of people in my class.
Scott is the nicest professor I've ever had, he is super kind and willing to help with anything. He's also very funny and ties his jokes to help understand better sometimes. Econ in general is very difficult and you really need to pay attention and really understand the theories to do well. However, Scott makes it as easy as possible to understand.
He's fine, the class was not too challenging. My issue with him is his lecture style. There's a lot of fluff and he tends to circle the same point over and over. He also has a very dry delivery of the content. I really value high-quality lectures, that is probably the most important thing to me personally in a course.
Not recommended for this course
Great instructor, exams are all short answer and make up 95% of your grade and is a lot of just modelling and reciting terms with real world applications. Has pretty good lectures, only criticism is that he spends tons of time on certain topics and brushes over others, but that also gives you a pretty good idea of what is gonna be asked on the exam
