Very clear. Fun teacher but you have to contribute and study. I actually learned something!
Really clear teacher. Has it together and makes it clear what to expect. I really liked his teaching style.
I took him for bio almost four years ago and he is one of the reasons that I went on to major in the sciences. Difficult class, but he makes it as clear, fun, and interesting as possible We even talked about the science of poop!!!! Funny.
omgooodness hes sooo hot! i took hiom over summer school, and he was easy, his tests are completely from the study guide
Great teacher... explains thing thoroughly. Loved it!
very helpful. Made me want to go to class
He was great! Amazing, made me want to study biology-impossible to happen-but it did!Very clear, if U study, U will pass, lectures and explains everything amazingly good.Hard, but if you'll study, you'll be more than happy.Very wonderfull professor.
took over summer and it was so easy, tests directly form study guide!
Test's right from study guide, lab practicals are fairly easy, very clear notes. Great teacher.
I liked him a lot he was super funny and made anatomy as fun as possible. He gives out objectives sheets that are key for exams he's awsome!!
I LOVE having him as a teacher. He's very enthusiastic about the material & makes it easy to understand. As long as you study the notes from class and read up on some things that could be confusing, you'll do fine! Hard class in general, takes a LOT of studying, but he makes it easier and FUN!
BEST TEACHER EVER! really made me look forward to go to class. i completely recommend him!
He's a little happy hippie dude. Totally cool. make material fun and interesting. If you take BIO, check him out, totally cool!
Awesome teacher. He knows his stuff and makes it understandable to all. I really liked Mr. Murdoch.
siply, the coolest and the best
taught bio and was extremely awesome
damn this class was easy. DAMN! tests are easy. i love community college!
Amazing teacher... enhanced my already love for Biology. Can't wait to have him again :) Showed his love for the class as well as his love for teaching it... made an 8am class worth going to! :)
Seriously a cool guy, very helpful and funny! He makes you want to love Biology as much as he does!!!! He makes bio fun and classes exciting. Highly recommend him for any bio class you need to take.

best teacher i've ever had.
he's clever, witty, pretty funny, makes fun of himself a little. he gives THE MOST THOROUGH notes ever, I didn't even open the text book and aced all the tests just from the lecture he gives.
He is sooo in love with biology! In my opinion he explained things in a way that i could understand each subject. He puts alot of effort into his notes so that you could understand what he's talking about. When it comes to looks for a 38 y/o he's pretty cute in his own way though he looks dorkybut cute! Overall he's a nice & good teacher!
He is a great teacher, I would recommend him to anyone. He is very fair and helpull. He knows how to explain well and he doesn't try to trick his students on the exams and practicals. HE IS GREAT!!!
He's a great teacher, he made BIO interesting, best teacher I ever had. His lectures were excellent, tests were a bit hard, practicals were easy. Very fair teacher, great person.
Very willing to help, but he does ask some misleading questions on exams. His practicles are very straight forward. Definately follow his unit handouts, he sticks to them pretty well. He does have his crabby moments, but overall he is a very nice man.
the class is hard. he explains things pretty good. i would tell anybody to take him. hes really fair and a real nice guy!
Mr. Murdoch is the best!!His classes go like this.He lectures for the first one hour to an hour and 15 minutes or so but don't let this discourage you from taking his class. His lectures are very very funny and filled with a lot of his own stories,he is awesome!First time I ever actually enjoyed biology was in his class. Second half of class is lab.
hes very understadning
DO NOT TAKE!!! He quizzes and tests constantly. His attitude is if you don't ask questions, then you aren't studying. Very arrogant. Only take him if you love taking tests. This man needs to learn that people have other classes, jobs, and lives. Not everyone is into it like he is.
Excellent professor. I never learned so much about bio from anyone else. Great guy and has really fun stories. One of the best professors I have had. Just take notes and pay attention and you'll get an A.
He is the best professor ever I learned a lot from him not only in Bio but in life in general I am an international student and i didnt have a hard time understading his lessons because he explained everything clearly he acts out some of the things he is saying which makes the class fun he will do his job to teach you but you hve to do yours..study
Interesting teacher. Did all labs. Took in summer so the class was pretty intense. Must study to get an A unless you're brilliant in biology.
Mr. Murdoch is a great teacher, one of the best at MVCC. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and extremely helpful.
Scott Murdoch loves life, and it shows in his teaching. He's wonderfully clear and truly explains the material, gives excellent notes during lecture, and has quirky anecdotes to liven things up on occasion. Don't take him in the morning if you're not a morning person, though, seeing as lectures had a tendency to move a bit slow.
Good teacher, wants you to learn and suceed in his class.
Mr Murdoch is 1 of the best! I don't know where the last comment came from but he has never been arrogant or any of that other stuff. He is really nice and his notes are clear & organized.Tests are not hard if u study. He helps out in labs, his quizzes are easy, and he gives a lot of extra credit. He really knows his stuff!Take him if u get a chance!
He is more than a Professor. He always gave us very clear not. his exames was not that hard.I liked him very much
LOVED MURDOCH. BEST BIO TEACHER I EVER HAD. MADE EVERYTHING SUPER EASY TO UNDERSTAND. YOU CAN TELL HE REALLY LOVES WHAT HE DOES.
Very boring class! his lectures are sooooo long and boring it makes you want to fall asleep DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Brings plenty of energy and enthusiasm to class and really wants everyone to do well. He prepares Objective sheets for students so they can do well on the exams. Book for the class is an easy read if you pay attention in lecture, do the study guide questiones no reason not to get an A!!(10 pgs a chapter on avg.)
Mr. Murdoch is TOUGH, but you do learn... LOTS and LOTs of studying and open lab. Only bad thing is he doesnt like when students ask him ?'s, it's an inconvinence 2 him. BAD CAREER choice if you don't enjoy working w/the students. Oh and he has way too many opinions that he should keep to himself
I had Murdoch for the last few weeks of class (due to bizarre circumstances)and he was awesome. He made class interesting w/his funny stories. I never laughed so hard and the material really sank in. Definitely recommend him. He's a funny, little man!
finally i found a nice and help full teacher at moron valley. he is helpful when you need it and if you ask. you just need to show him the you really want to do good in the class to have a nice and helpful teacher. He explains everything very well WITH OUT RUSHING!!
Awesome teacher, friendly, and knows his stuff. Made bio fun!
I did not like him at all!! Bad teaching habits!! Hard!! Tests were hard, class was boring.lectured a lot on life. He got annoyed with me when i asked him a question, does not like to be questioned on bio stuff. Overall poor quality.
best bio teacher i've ever had. his lectures were very clear, and if you put in a little work there is no reason not to get an A in his class. very enthusiastic, and knowledgable, funny and enjoyable.
good teacher
This is a real top quality teacher for a community college. I've heard good things about him before taking the class, and i was pleasantly surprised when i got to experience his teaching in person. It was interesting and informative. (just wish the labs where easier :P)
Fairly easy teacher. His tests/quizzes/practicals are straight forward, and if you study the objectives and listen in class, you should get an A. Although he is a good teacher, if you really want to get all that you can out of a bio class and be challanged, I would not recommend him. But if you are looking for relative ease, I would suggest him.
The class is rediculously easy, and he tries to make it fun. He keeps you entertained throughout lecture. his test/quizes are straight forward, either you know it or you don't. i always got out of class early :)
Mr. Scott is a very good teacher. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about biology. Got an A withe him despite that the last time i ever opened a bio book was 10 years ago. Bio is a tuff subject though it is not the class where you can get away with not buying a text book, skipping classes, or fool around in the class.
Great teacher. Why? Because you can tell he loves teaching. He is very into his lectures which kept me awake in class. He is not a boring teacher. Also he is very helpful. Don't buy the textbook if you are taking his class, not much use of it since he puts his lectures on blackboard. I recommend him to all students!
This teacher is really good. At first I was amused by him, but after awhile you realize he just really loves what he teaches. He cares about his students, and his notes are short and thorough. He never will test on something he personally did not go over. Will for sure recommend him.
Murdoch is such a funny teacher, in a goofy way. he is very clear - gives outlines for what you need to know on the lab/lecture exams. he likes to talk.. goes over time in lecture all thee timeee.. but usually because hes rambling about his funny college memories & weird hobbies. total hippie, loved this guy!
Murdoch is a FANTASTIC teacher and clearly loves what he does! i can listen to him lecture all day. HIs notes are great. No sense of buying the book. He is very precise in his lectures. He wants his students to do well, and you actually learn and retain what you learn. TAKE HIM!
absolutely loved this teacher. he is a great guy, and really loves what he teaches. he is extremely helpful, and his class was never dull.
I had the pleasure of being in Mr Murdoch's first Introduction to College class. It was interesting, and I learned more about Biology than I thought I would, lol. Great teacher, just wants you to do well, and will help in anyway he can. thanx Mr M.
The best BIOLOGY teacher at Moraine! I actually learned something in his class! His lectures are the BEST! I love the way he explains the material! He's very clear and his power points are awesome! His lectures were so clear that before each exam I only read his notes two to three times and never got lower than 96% on the exam. AWESOME teacher!!!
Murdoch is the best biology teacher! I wish he was teaching biology at UIC, than I would at least understand something! If you find the subject interesting, you will enjoy his lectures, and if you don't than don't take Biology nor Anatomy & Physiology. Sometimes he speaks in this funny voice which makes him sound like Plankton from SpongeBob! :-)
He's such a great teacher for both 111 and 181. He REALLY makes sure everything is clear. He'll give you "extra credit" if you have good attendance. Also, for 181, buy the Home Lab book. It's so helpful because almost all of the lab models are in it. Definitely worth spending money on it. I got an A for both classes :). MURDOCH IS THE BEST!
Lectures are great as are the notes. Lecture time goes over often. He loves what he teaches and explains very well. Written exams are extremely difficult not straightforward questions tricky pay close attention essay questions on written exams. Histology on all lab practicals
Excellent teacher but exams are very thought provoking and tricky. The tests go beyond reading the notes book is needed as well. You take 4 quizzes, 4 practicals, and 4 exams, in case your wondering.Other than that, great experience and very informative. He wants you to learn
Had to drop.. Awful.. Test are extremely difficult. No way to study or prepare for his exams... Barely gives extra credit. Very discouraging class. I suggest looking for another professor unless you are a bio genius..
Murdoch is an excellent prof. he loves teaching as it shows. He attempts everything to break it down for people and gives visual examples to explain a certain event ect. Such an awesome geek!
He's a very good professor, tries to explain the material with many examples so you can understand the subject, almost always uses all lecture time, helpful if you you need him. If you study and UNDERSTAN the power point very well you'll do fine on the tests.you'll have 4quizzes 4 practicals and4 exams plus the final exam.I have a 96% in his class
Prof. Murdoch is a great overall teacher, his interest level to what he is teaching is pretty high. He relates the information we're learning and connects it to real life examples so we understand fully. If you attend lecture, take notes, reread the power points, complete the objectives, you should be fine. The book is not necessary, though helpful
Great teacher and really wants you too succeed within his classes. Make sure you take the time to keep up with all the material and study. If you do that you will end up with a great grade. Also take advantage of the lab time for models. Don't blow it off!
Great teacher and extremely helpful. His lectures keep you interested. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but you get EC if you attend all classes. He gives you lots of study tools, his slides and website tips really helped me get an A. You HAVE to study, but an A was easy by just going to class and putting in the study time.
Amazing teacher. Super organized and super interesting. Makes lecture interesting and life related. Super nice also. You have to study to pass but he makes learning fun.
If you're thinking about taking the class hybird, I got two words for ya: Academic Suicide.
Mr. Murdoch is one of the best Biology teachers that I have had! If you are there for the lectures, go over the power points, and do the objectives, there is no way you should have a problem getting at least a B. Labs are easy, and you usually get out early. He also gives EC for coloring! He really gives you all the resources to be successful!
He really knows and loves what he is talking about. The lectures can be long but if you study the objectives and listen in class you will pass. Not a lot of extra credit so you have to do good on the exams. would recommend over every other BIO180-181 teacher
Im not a bio major and not a fan of science so it is a Very tough course. He loves what he does but hard to understand the lectures. Hard to study for the test. He doesn't show you your test after, hard grader. Would try and find a different teacher.
Tests are harder than the turd of a 450 pound man who has never heard of fiber. Brace yourselves kids.
Gives you everything you need to succeed. You just need to study.
He makes his lectures very interesting by connecting it to real life. He gives you so many resources its almost impossible to fail. You just have to put in the effort. I took him for Bio 180 (three week course) and Bio181(hybrid) and they definitely weren't easy. Anatomy is a tough subject regardless but he makes it interesting.
Overall he's a pretty decent teacher. You better be prepared to have your practical exam grade carry your regular exam grade since his exams are extremely hard. They all go too far in-depth. Lectures are also long and boring, they make you want to fall asleep. *Don't buy the text book you don't need it*
Overall the class was interesting, professor teaches very well and you could actually tell he loves doing what he loves. Not an easy class, you either study your butt off to get the A or you don't study and fail each exam. Brace yourself for the exams. They're super hard, it's not just definitions, you have to use them in examples and really think.
He's a great teacher. I would take him again. He was there to help whenever I needed . He tells you what you need to know for exams. You need to study hard because it's to much info , but worth it. I got an A, but had to work hard for it.
Mr. Murdoch was respected by me. He wants his students to learn and I respect that. If you didn't take the time to study on your own and take time out of your day to learn things, you won't pass. Anatomy is a tricky subject in general, but once you take Murdoch it's not so bad. He tries to explain as best as he can and the help is there. Great prof
Great lectures and he makes them very relatable. Tests are kind of hard but if you study you will be fine.
Prof. Murdoch made me LOVE biology. His lectures are amazing and he explains everything in detail and makes it entertaining. You can tell he truly loves what he's doing. He's not an easy teacher though, you have to work for your grade and the exams are pretty tough. Just study the objectives a lot and go to office hours and you'll do great.
I think he is a extremely smart person, and knows what he is doing as a biology professor, but beware of very long lectures. He covers many, many tough topics with a lot of detail in a short amount of time. You must take notes, finish your labs, and study A LOT to pass the class. Definitely not an easy A.
Prof. Murdoch is an excellent professor. I took his Bio 180 pre-session class and in all honesty I don't think I've ever studied so much for a class in college before and I come from a very big university. Do not take this class if you are not willing to put in the effort and time. He cares about your success and is always there for his students!
I would recommend Professor Murdoch to anyone needing to take A&P. He gives extra credit, gives you test objectives, and his tests and quizzes are extremely fair. If you out in a little effort you should do very well.
He goes off on lots of tangents. He's pretty corky but gets funny. Pretty easy, his powerpoint are the same as the notes. show up and it's an easy a.
Tests are absolutely impossible, I would study so much for them and still end up with a 50-60% on each lecture exam & he doesn't curve grades at all.
Professor Murdoch is very quirky. You can tell he's very passionate and it makes the class environment much better. Be ready to study. He gives great notes and clear study guides (usually extra credit before test). If you study and pay attention you'll be fine
He's weird in a good way. His lectures are sometimes lengthy but he throws in a few jokes. His class is pretty simple, study the book and his notes and you will get an A for sure. Plus gives extra credit. If u expect him to hold your hand throughout the course .. good luck. YOURE IN COLLEGE, SO ACT LIKE ONE (for those who don't work hard)
He's an odd teacher. He doesnt care about students on a personal level, he wont learn your names, & he wont talk to you about anything other than science, but he is a good teacher. Overall, I did learn a lot from him. His lectures are long & hard to follow sometimes, but he knows his stuff. He knows how to teach & how to get the info into your head
Great teacher! Explains a lot and is obviously passionate about the subject and understands that we come in here as students knowing nothing about it, here to learn. Tests were fairly hard. Every single detail he says is on the test. Study hard.
He's super passionate about the subject, but he's kinda of a hands off teacher. He is fair and lets you clearly know what will be on the test. While his tests are not easy, they are easy to study for. His notes are great, but you will be expected to independently study for the practical on your own. You will need to really study for quizzes
Mr. Murdoch is a wonderful teacher. This is my second time taking him and I do not regret it one bit. He really likes what he is doing and always shows energy when teaching. His hand movements and sound effects make things easy to remember and he is a professor you can get along with. He really makes things easier for his students.
Murdoch is one of the best bio profs at moraine IMO. His study guides tell you exactly what you need to know. Tests aren't easy but if you study hard, read the chapters and constantly quiz yourself you will do fine. We didn't have to buy any extra stuff for the class like books written by the professor, but we did need gloves for dissections.
A very smart professor, his study guides are very helpful. He gives a total of 20 points extra credit throughout the semester. The lowest quiz gets dropped, 4 exams, 4 practical, and a final. His practicals are not easy, you really need to memorize words with the right spelling. Don't buy the book, I studied only from the powerpoints and got an A.
Mr. Murdoch is super passionate about Biology & seems to really enjoy being a professor. Is his class easy? No. However if you apply yourself and study, you will be just fine. Dont skip class, he beefs up your percentage at the end of the semester with good attendance. Hes a fantastic teacher & gives great PowerPoints resulting in NO BOOK NEEDED!
Such an annoying professor. He doesnt really care and just reads off a ppt. Gets super offended if you ask a question and doesnt understand much.
I took him for BIO 180 last fall and 181 this summer (4 weeks hybrid). He is very smart and his lectures are amazing. He makes the class very easy and answers any question you have. He can be rude sometimes especially to those who don't follow directions. I highly recommend him !
Mr. Murdoch is a great teacher. He really knows the human body. He can go off on tangents but he gets back on track. All his lecture ppts, study aids, practice exams, and practice worksheets are on canvas. Take notes on those before lecture and add his comments during lecture and you'll be good to go.
By far my favorite teacher. Makes you work for your grade. Lecture is on all power point and lab is self-taught. Gives extra credit on each practical and two out of class options. If you don't show up you will lose points. I enjoyed both bio 180 and 181 with him as long as you study and practice for practicals you will thrive in his class.
His lecture are not good. Near the end of the semester he kept noticing mistakes on his power point. You are only graded on quizzes and exams. If you misspell a word on the lab practical you get points taken off. He makes the class harder than it has to be.
His class is very straightforward, he is organized, his lectures are interesting and he will help whenever asked. The tests are based on the objectives. It's a college level anatomy class so don't expect it to be easy but if you pay attention and study this class will be a breeze.
This teacher was calm, laid back and kept it real. This now mandatory class was very beneficial to me succeeding my first semester in college. The class has helped me identify both my strengths and weaknesses. I am using the strategies taught in this class and I'm doing quite well in ALL courses taken.
Took his hybrid anatomy 2 class and I'm almost done. All I have to say is he's an awesome teacher and very organized. I struggled with his tests but Aced all of his practicals. He also gives out extra credit assignments which helps and gives you the option to do his homework assignments. I recommend him 100%
he is a very respectful professor, explains everything in this lecture so you understand everything but you have to attend his classes to get all information you need, he is tough grader though, makes you work hard for your grade, his tests and exams are fair, not hard at all, everything in the powerpoint .
Mr Murdoch is a great teacher, I took his class for both BiO180 and BIO 181. He explains the material very well. The exams and labs are not hard as long as you study his power points.
He's very knowledgable about the subject, but he kinda makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Tests are difficult, but lab practicals are easy. Gives optional assignments online that boost your grade a bit. But he gives out quizzes that literally just bring down your grade. This class is already hard, but his class is unnecessarily hard.
I took Professor Murdoch for BIO 180 as a returning student. He was straight to the point with everything. He talks alot and is a pretty fun person. Didn't do so well since i was rusty with science. He has shares his notes with you and it can be helpful with some quiz and test. Study Hard! Show up for class! Alot of Extra Credit! Recommend
Worst teacher ever he drops the lowest quiz grade & not the test. Very rude4 exams 4 practicals 4 quizzes optional assignments that don't bring your grade. Makes class so difficult, doesn't round grade, eg. 79.98%to 80%Doesn't help at all (during lab)
I don't know how this professor has a high rating. I wish I never took him. His lectures are so difficult, but his lab practicals are definitely doable. Unless you're willing to put in your 110% and study all night long, don't take him. He doesn't round even if you have an 89.99. Gives unnecessary quizzes that bring down your grade. Good Luck!
I do not recommend this teacher. Lab practicals are easy if you study everything on the sheet you get prior to exam. Lecture exams are HEAVY! Even with studying his practice quizzes, watching his youtube videos over and over, and practicing the quizzes in the textbook GOOD LUCK! very hard teacher, he does offer extra credit at the end of course
Mr. Murdoch talks. A LOT. My class was an hour and fifty minutes and he talked the whole time. I wanted to die. It was just college 101 and he took it so seriously but I guess it didnt matter cuz it was just a 1 credit class. We just had quizzes and worksheets obviously it wasnt hard at all he just is so boring and talks so much
I regret taking him! DOES NOT TEACH AT ALL! VERY RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL. I don' know why others will rate him good. I will always put time into this class and I will alway receive bad grades on my assignments. he takes points off from everything. doesn' give back your work(test, quizzes). Optional assignments that DONT BOOST your grade. LIES!!!!!!
Great teacher I took BIO180 and BIO181 with him. He explains the material the easy way so everyone who really wants to learn something will definitely learn from his lectures.
Prof. Murdoch does a lot of talking and it can be hard to pay attention to in class. When classes switched to online, it was sooooooo much easier. If you want to take him, do NOT listen to his lectures. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Murdoch is a great professor he makes you work hard for your grade and his material is fair. The lab tests are not that bad. The lecture exams are certainly difficult but fair. Mr. Murdoch will help you if you have questions and his lecture notes are clear and to the point. I would highly recommend this teacher for Anatomy and Physiology.
Overall a great guy. Just have to put in the time and effort. Also, there are no surprises on his lecture exams. Study the power points slides, and understand the concepts rather than memorizing. Labs were straight forward as well. No surprises. Tells you exactly what to study for lab. Def. recommend him.
Professor Murdoch is the best professor you can chose for Anatomy and Physiology. I took him for Bio 180 + 181, and he made me absolutely love anatomy. Hes clear with lectures, but dont forget to read the book, and work hard all throughout the semester. I got high grades, it is possible if you put in the effort. You wont regret taking him!
I highly recommend professor Murdoc. He is one of the few professors who really knows what hes talking about, highly educated, has an answer for everything you ask, and he is very clear. It is possible to get an A in the class if you are willing to study. The class is 4 units. Each unit has 2 exames one lab, one lecture, one homework of 5 question
Professor Murdoch is a good teacher. Lab tests and lecture tests are fair. Extra credit offered. Quizzes are homework are fair. In this class, you wont feel overwhelmed because he makes it easier to remember with his lectures. Great class, with a great teacher. Highly Recommend.
Bio181 is a class that you can't pass if you don't study. I did better on practicals than on the exams. Exams are hard, but if you do good on practicals you can still pass this class. He is hilarious. He loves anatomy you can tell by the way he explains everything in details sometimes even things that we don't need to know lol.Take him, he's the best
Honestly, by far the worst professor I have ever had! If you wanna fail, & have a terrible dreadful semester take him. He tried to constantly challenge us and made the work more complicated than it really needed to be. I took him cause ratings were good but it was the worst decision of my life. Nice man, but teaching style was absolutely dreadful
Any questions I asked he will answer in a timely matter. I highly recommend him.
I will never take a course from him ever again. He expects you to know everything right away and if you don't and ask a question he will talk to you as if you're stupid. He doesn't teach at all, so have fun learning everything yourself. His study guides are a waste of time, He takes forever to grade things. If you want to waste money/ time pick him.
Dont know how to feel about this one. As a professor, eh, but his canvas page is set up so easily and is so organized. Just keep taking the practice lab practicals over and over and you will do great on the practicals. His lecture exams are hard has hell ngl so study hard for the practicals. He posts practice exams for lecture that are helpful.
The grades were mainly based off your test scores, there were hardly any other assignments that were to be completed and there wasn't a lot of practice given. If you're good at teaching yourself things he would probably be good for you.
as a first year, this was my toughest class & there are no hw assignments so everything is graded by lab/lecture exams. he can be pretty goofy at times but other than that he is very passionate about anatomy. he will blab about everything & sometimes even off track. he does help if you ask but other than that, you are quite literally on your own.
I only took him because his review was 4.5/5. i was totally fooled. his lecture exams are 100 questions, he does not teach in class. he takes out models and tells us to go study them without even going thru them. his exams are always timed when that isnt enough time for certain people, he is rude when you ask questions as well. he cannot teach.
requires lots of hard work/time,make sure to start studying once you start a new unit, if you want to pass your quizzes, lectures and practical exams.had 4 units and a final exam, Professor Murdoch gives optional assignments that help your grade if you do them, so make sure to do them. Also,do not buy the textbook, just purchase the lab book.
Did a good job at teaching us as much as he could with time he had, I think would be easier and more enjoyable if taken for a whole semester instead. You'll hear "beep beep beep," a lot during lectures. practice exams are super important, most of the questions from there were on the lecture exam. His exams are HARD, lab practicals were easy.
When I first had Murdoch, honestly, I thought I was gonna fall behind. I was not used to his detailed lectures being very fast-paced. But overtime, you get used to it. He's a pretty good teacher but this class is all about dedication and effort into your studies because it's pretty rigorous so please study hard.
I took Prof. Murdoch for BIO 180. And let me tell you, that this was the first time I actually felt good about an Anatomy course! The lectures are heavy but that is expected. He has study guides that are very helpful and you just need to memorize and understand the powerpoints he provides for the exams and you'll get a high mark. Take him!
Such an amazing Professor I would def recommend him. I took him for BIO 180 and 181,& I never regretted taking him.We have four units each with a lecture and practical exam as well as quizzes.Lectures are very hard, so prioritize studying if you want to pass with an A.He's a very straightforward professor, and very helpful when you have questions.
Omg!!! This was my best best best and favorite teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy that I had Bio 180 with him he is number 1 I got an A+ with him, this is my second time taking the class, the first time I got D could anyone imagine!! I Re took the class with Murdoch and I went from D to A+ omg he is so good so so so good! I love u Murdoch
Loved this teacher, previously failed anatomy with a previous teacher so I took him and passed with a B. You can tell he is very passionate about anatomy. He would review a lot prior to exams and would let us record him going over the parts of a system. If you ever need help he will review and is very considerate.
Honestly, I would not recommend anyone to take his class. Its hard and tests are super long and hard. Attendance is for a grade after 2 absences.
his voice was irritating and I mean it is anatomy so its not like its gonna be easy but I feel like he wasn't really helpful and could be rude answer a students question. lectures are so boring I feel like you could make an anatomy class a little more interseting
Would not take this class again. I read great reviews about him which made me take him in the first place, such a bad idea. Very heavy on tests, so one bad grade is your downfall. Waste of money/time. The effort put into this class exceeds what it really should be.
BE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF! His tests are lengthy but doable. He definitely gets mood sometimes. Make sure you start studying as soon as possible! He uploads videos for lecture and gives out optional assignments. DO NOT GET TEXTBOOK! only lab book needed
Buckle up for an intense, fast-paced journey with Professor Murdoch. His detailed lectures can feel overwhelming, but sticking with it and utilizing resources like unstuck AI can pay off. Attend class, memorize the slides, and you'll likely ace this challenging course.
I was advised not to take Murdoch. I am finishing his hybrid now (Fall24). Going into the final @ 86%. Tests are 100 questions. Cadavers & histology are very important. If you devote to mastery of lecture or lab, you will make it through. Do the optional assignments. Murdoch isn't a bad teacher, he just goes the extra mile with hand-on experiences.
Tough grader, tests need a lot of studying in order to do well. He doesn't teach, more so just presents the slide show.
I took Murdoch over a year ago and to this day I reflect on his teachings. Paying attention in class is very key because it will stick with you in the long run. I loved taking his class and he is very caring if there is anything important going on in your life.
I took his hybrid class and was ONLY graded on quizzes and exams. Study or you will easily fall behind. He provided a lot of extra credit opportunities as well which helped my grade. He gives a study guide that covers everything on the lab practical and exams. Anatomy is a hard class no matter what, Murdoch is one of the better professors to take.
He explains lectures in a way that's easy for us to understand and will take his time to make sure ur not confused about the material. He's very nice and friendly. Gives study guides and quizzes that are almost identical to the exam. A a lot of extra credit opportunities. Uses cadavers which is really cool. Great prof to take if its ur first time.
Horrible teacher, does nothing but reads slides. Every lecture test he gave was nothing like the study guide and he gave and the test questions are worded to trick you. other 181 classes only had to take 3 units while murdocks class had to do 5. so if you want to do more work take him if not i would recommend PORTER he's the better choice.
Professor Murdoch is a great professor. There's a lab practical, exam, and a mini online quiz for every unit. There are optional assignments, DO THEM, THEY ARE EASY and they will only boost your grade. He does take a while to answer back to emails.1-2 extra credit questions on lab practicals, on mini essays, and +10 if you miss 0-2 days of class.
Mr. Murdoch overall is an okay professor compared to the other bio professors, I took him for bio 180 and bio 181. He's not a tough grader but there are very few assignments that he grades so make those exams (multiple choice) and practicals (written) count. Do those optional assignments, it saved my grade completely.
He's buns. Had 5-hour classes but could've made it 2 or 3. Holds you until the end of class. Too much work and just wastes your time.
If you have other options don't take his class. He just sits and reads the slides that he says he made them but half of the time he doesn't understand why it says what it says. And the homework? he takes at least two weeks to grade your homework. You don't learn anything in this class. The worst class I've taken so far
Such a great professor! Very knowledgeable & approachable. Provides a lot of resources to help you study. Be aware of the practice tests though, they are helpful for studying, but can really trick you on the actual exam. Study & show up to class, it helps with both your learning and grade! Good luck :)
Offers extra assignments for your grade. Lecture exams aren't exactly the objectives, makes tests harder. Study the practice exams he includes it on the test, but switches words around. U have to study more tho. Don't be afraid to ask him questions on tests he will help u, it improves your score. didn't like that he included an accumulative final
Amazing teacher, however, there was not that many assignments to get myself familiar with the class, really just with the campus.
