he actually made biochem interesting! Ack!

actually cares if you do well; a new concept for Arts and Science profs
Best overall prof I've had at the U of S.
He must one of the best profs in all of Health Sciences.
Decent prof, but his exam questions were weird.
He's very enthusiastic, but his exam questions are there to trick you.
best prof ever

One of the best proffs you could get in University
great, dedicated professor
The man, the myth, the legend. Rock on Napper!
Pain - he makes his info clear in class andpages of notes for long periods of time to ensure your understanding, then he won't test you on it. Instead he'll ask questions about some obscure thing he mentioned and gave a line or two of notes on.
Gives tutorials in his own time, posts all the classnotes and has an open door policy. A very busy man who puts his students first.
i don't like biochem but this guy made it interesting AND relevant to day to day stuff. he's young and understands what interests the students.
Take this class in 2nd semester and it will be your easiest and most entertaining class of the year. He's a cool guy with intersting stuff to talk about
Makes biochem fun and interesting, and inspiring!
Made biochem bearable but was pretty tough at exam time. Great professor though and seems like a genuinely nice guy.
He made an effort to explain things clearly and make it interesting. He seemed to really care how we were doing. Nice guy. I just wish the final didn't count for 70% of the mark.
great prof, good notes, did a good job of keeping the class interesting
Awesome teacher- too bad he's done teaching and has moved on to research only at VIDO.
Great prof! Extremely knowledgeable on the subject and provided notes online ahead of time. Easy person to approach.
AMAZING prof! I loved his class. He was very enthusiastic, and wanted everyone to succeed.
Everyone would be a biochemist if he taught upper year Biochem. He makes the material interesting - great-relevant stories. He loves Biochem - and he wants you to get excited about it. Exams aren't easy, but you know what to expect. Fair and helpful.
This class sucks. Scotty has great notes, and a willing and helpful attitude. Study up or you'll get skanked on his hard mutliple guess exams. However, he is approachable if you have questions, and has nice big pipes to help pick you up if you are down.
Great teacher! Great analogies! Super smart and cared about the students understanding the material.
i love napper
If only he would talk a little louder...
Loved the guy and made class alot more interesting! His notes were great and he did an awesome job explaining them. Thank you
An awesome prof who explains concepts very well and helps you remember them with analogies and personal stories. Very approachable and helpful. His notes are awesome and he summarizes the text pretty well.
Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Adds a lot to his notes. Great study suggestions. Doesn't like to use the mic, and likes to walk while he's speaking (so pick your seat carefully so you can hear him from most directions, and hear him over his footsteps). Great ies of practical application of material.
Scott made the lectures very interesting and covered the material that was tested well. His problems on the exams (especially the final) are quite challenging, but if you study the lecture notes AND THE TEXT they were fine. Very good prof!
Regardless of what some of the below comments say, I did not run into one problem on the midterm or the final which Scott did not go over in class. He prepares you well and he made learning biochemistry as fun as learning about history. Which is an amazing feat in itself. Plus he actually has a sense of humor, which is rare in the science field.

Mmm eye candy. Excellent prof, protrays his love for his subject very well. Go to class and take notes, but most importantly listen to his explanations (and watch him... sorry, boys). His notes are useful, but not enough to scrape by on (you have to go to class). Explanations are very clear, answers questions clearly, fair exams! Good luck!
Awesome prof, great explanations, and interesting stories that correlate to everyday life. He makes biochem actually seem interesting, and he is hot. I would love to take another class from him.
Awesome Prof, easy class, dont need to go, but if you do, He'll keep you interested..By far best teacher in the U of S
Dr. Napper is the epitomy of what a professor should be. He is helpful, clear and passionate about what he is teaching. If you do not recieve a good mark on the material he teaches it is your own lack of understanding or preperation. He is always avaible for questions and prepares students more that adequately for exam. Take summer session from him

Articulate, easy to understand. The pharm kids did get a higher avg on the midterm, but they didn't have 3 or 4 midterms that week like a lot of people did. He is helpful, willing to help you get the mark you deserve, and not biased, just realizes that many people have advantages and wants it all to be equal; made practice finals available to all.
Ditto to everyone else who's commented. He's a quality teacher, and fun, to boot. When he says "size," however, he means "molecular weight"! And don't try to argue exam questions with him--you'll get nowhere.
He has a love for what he does and that makes his teaching that much better. The test was suppose to be hard but I actually did better on his section than the others. You have to know your stuff with him which prepares you for higher level courses.

This was an excellent professor. He is very easy to approach and ask questions to. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. I definetly recommend this professor to anyone taking Bioc 200. It is just too bad that he does not teach any upper year courses, because I would definetly take them from him.
He is a fantastic prof! He loves to teach and it shows. His notes are very general and you still need to read his chapters to get a good grasp. But he loves what he does and it makes you want to come to class. When he was done teaching he even took some of his students on a tour of VIDO to show them what they can do with a biochem degree.
Excellent prof. He is entertaining but at the same time shows general concern for how well his students do and and his teaching technique is really clear and concise. He even tells you random stories about his life! His wife just had a baby though, so i'm not sure if he is still teaching. If he is I definately reccomend him.
Great teacher, and absolutely hilarious. He's interesting and loves what he does, and makes great notes which the test questions are directly from.
Amazingly clear and consice. Doesn't teach something unless you need to know it. Very helpful and if he doesn't know something he will tell you
Will tell you what you need to know and dont need to know for the final, very helpful! Tutorials before the final were extremely helpful. He seems like a genuinely nice man who loves his family!!
Napper is awesome! He is so clear and makes concepts that are semmingly difficult very easy to understand. Don't take biochem from anyone else.
Awesome prof! Too bad he doesn't teach the full course. His section was by far the easiest to learn and the most clear. Not an easy class however, you'll have to work hard, but he tells you what you need to know. Shares interesting stories about science, life, etc. Ask for a tutorial before the exam, we did, he agreed, and we did well on the final!
Such a fantastic prof, I love him! Really related to students and is so helpful. If I could take every class from him I would.
One of the best profs I have had yet! Really helpful and made Biochemistry interesting.
Biochemistry - Quite simply the greatest professor I've had. No other professor is willing to host a review "until we're done", until every student is satisfied, while he spent the entire previous night awake timing contractions for his now new-born baby (who was born the next day). Don't take biochem elsewhere if you can.
He is a great teacher, but his multiple choice questions are very challenging. You need to know everything from his notes + a bit luck.
One of the best profs I have ever had. He is super clear, and answers emails almost immediately. Very nice guy too. Funny as well, which made the class interesting.
Professor Napper was a very good teacher! His topics were some of the more difficult but he made it easier by his amazing teaching skills. His exams are pretty tough but if you put in the time you will do fairly well. DO NOT buy the textbook for this class. I found it completely useless and the 230 profs dont use it either.
Best prof you can get... he is funny and all his lectures are actually interesting.
All the other reviews pretty much say it. Awesome prof, great guy, and a class that you will look forward to every single day. The material is super interesting and he uses a ton of real world examples. This being said, be ready to study the material thoroughly. Textbook isn't necessary but makes for some great supplemental material.
Great prof. Only teaches part of the course, and his part was arguably the hardest (enzymes, proteins). Very interesting and engaging with the class. Offered a tour of VIDO and a talk on careers in science after the class was done. Our class had recorded lectures, which was good as the material is fast paced. Highly recommend.
Wonderful prof. Makes lectures worth attending and does a great job explaining concepts. Makes it clear what you need to know for tests. Some of his questions may seem challenging but if you have a good handle of the material, they really aren't that hard.
Wonderful and engaging prof. One of the best I have ever had. Makes even the most dry content come to life.
Best professor I have had. He encouraged class involvement which is hard to do in a lecture theatre of over 200 students. His lectures were both interesting and easy to understand with some dedication to studying.
Very good prof. Explains everything clearly and his tests are easy. Also he's humorous
Awesome professor, teacher, and person! Super personable and cares very much for the well-being of his students. Nothing but good things to say about him. BMSc 200 is a heavy class but if you put in the work you'll have no problem getting a good mark.
He is awesome at explaining the key concepts. Makes sure you go through the vocab in the notes for the exams as he expects you to know them.
Napper is BY FAR my favorite prof. He truly cares about his students and will make time to meet with them despite his very busy schedule. His questions on the midterm and final are fair and similar to ones found on old exams, so if you study those, you'll be golden. He is very interesting and has enjoyable stories in addition to content. THEE BEST!
One of the smartest and friendlies profs I have ever had, and those are 2 characteristics that rarely go together! Class was tough, but Dr. Napper made it worth your while. He's the reason would become a biochemist.
He said he would not make the final harder in wake of our midterm average being high, then everyones mark dropped by 6-10%......right...nice but too busy
Best professor in the university. Hands down. Extremely interesting, interactive, lucid, humorous and helpful. Take is class any chance you get.
Great prof, makes time with any student upon request. He is also willing to sit down with you 1on1 to discuss possible jobs in the field so you know what you're getting yourself into! Very interesting, makes the most dull stuff interesting. I would recommend this prof to anyone. Attending class helps clarify material, study hard for tests.
Very passionate about what he's teaching and sincerely wants his students to do well. Makes very dry material somewhat interesting and easier to learn, explanations very helpful. His online notes you can print off are very helpful as well and most test questions come right out of the notes
By far the BEST prof I have ever had. He was always willing to go out of his way to help students, and his pre-exam tutorials were very useful. Prior to taking his course I had no interest in anything chemistry related, but his passion and clear explanations not only made the course understandable, but extremely interesting and my fav course.
Wonderful class. His enthusiasm about Biochemistry is absolutely contagious! (Even at 8:30 A.M.)
The best prof I've ever had. Interesting, good stories, good guy and most of all he understands how to teach.
Scott is the best prof I have ever had. He is genuinely interested in educating his students and explains things so well. It is so nice as a science major to run into a prof who is teaching because they want to instead of teaching so they can do research at u of s. Take his class, you will not regret it!!!
BEST PROF EVER! definitely recommend going to his lectures, you can get so much out of his knowledge and his explanations...especially if you are in this class as a pre-req or requirement.
Awesome prof. Tells you exactly what he wants you to get from the class and explains it very well. One warning though, you will develop a major teacher crush. His awesomeness is just mind-blowing.
Possibly my best professor yet! Loved his section of the class. His questions on exams are pretty hard though. Oh plus he is HOT!
Best prof ever!!He makes learning enjoyable and is eager and willing to help you. I recommend going to all classes because you will learn so much more being there than reading the texts. His exams are pretty tough.. and he is HOT!!
Great Prof, don't even think twice just take the course, and make sure you stay up to date with the class, you should do great, you don't even have to come to class, I mean he himself encourages people to stay home and watch the lectures at home
Fantastic guy and great professor. Is very clear and makes his class very interesting. Exams are challenging but fair (can get 90-100). Obviously loves teaching and biochemistry; his enthusiasm is contagious. Very helpful with questions outside of class. Great pre-exam tutorials. Fun guy. Passionate about science and research. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
He is truly an amazing professor. VERY passionate about what he does and what he teaches. He provides clear explanations and will always keep you interested with his enthusiasm. He has very good comic relief throughout his lectures and relates the material to everyday stuff that anyone could relate to. Definitely one of the best profs I've ever had
Very charismatic and well-spoken, one of the best professors I've ever had. That being said, tests were not that easy, but he was glad to clarify anytime via e-mail or office hours.
One word: AMAZING. I thoroughly believe that this man will save the world. He is so passionate about his research and finds ways to incorporate it into his lectures. He is so inspiring and an all-around great person. The one catch is that his voice is quite soothing so you might find yourself daydreaming out of the lecture. Otherwise, FANTASTIC.
He is an amazing professor! If you have a chance to take a class with Napper do it! He is passionate about what he teaches and is genuinely interested in the success of his students. Tests are hard but certainly fair.
Dr. Napper is wonderful! Exams are straightforward, making it possible to get above 90 in the class.
I took BMSC 200 online, where Scott's lectures had been recorded. He is amazing. He explains concepts clearly and gives several analogies to get points across. He's always there for extra help if you need it, just had to send an e-mail and he'd meet with you in person. His exams were fair, as long as you studied, and tied into his notes. Great Prof
Great prof, one of the best I've ever had. Took online but he made himself available for one on one contact as well. Engages his students so you actually wanted to watch the posted lectures.
My favourite prof at the U of S so far! He makes the lectures very interesting so you will not be disappointed if you take any class with him.
Napper is a great prof. Always interesting and funny. He responds to emails very fast and is helpful. When it comes to tests and exams, they are insanely hard. I listened to lectures thoroughly and read everything in the textbook and yet half of the questions on the exams had nothing to do with either. Also, sapling learning assignments were hard.
Napper was a great prof and was very clear at explaining the concepts. He has review sessions right before exams and give hints as to what to expect. The textbook is not necessary at all because he tests nothing from it. All of the test material comes from his lecture notes. The quizzes and exams make you apply the material you learned.
Took online but the lectures that were posted were easy to understand and watching the lecture capture was extremely helpful! An absolute must to succeed in this class. Very good prof and was always willing to answer questions.
His lectures are really interesting and engaging. He let me go through my midterm exam and ask any questions I had because I had trouble with some concepts. I found the exams to be tricky. He also gave me lots of tips and advice. He is a really great prof and was extremely helpful!
His love & passion for biochemistry is so admirable! Dr. Napper's lectures are clear, concise, entertaining, and he also goes beyond to make you think critically about the field and advancements of science. If I could take all my biochem classes with him, I would! Greatest professor to ever exist, you won't be disappointed!
Scott Napper is a fantastic teacher at the U of S. Honestly great professor. Class is offered online with pre-recorded lectures, which at first scared me. Watched them all as they helped me understand the material and grasp the concepts. Heavy course of material, but with work the tests will be manageable. Final was hard. DONT BUY A TEXTBOOK
Scott was a very personable prof who cared about how his students did. Although this was an online class, he took the time to meet people outside of class and id tutorials before the midterm and final. His tests were a bit difficult, but if you understood the main aspects of the course, you'll be fine. I really enjoyed this course.
Napper is an amazing prof for BMSC 200. I took this course online but the prof was always there to help me out over the email or in person. You don't want to skip his lectures because his explanations will help you understand the topic very well. Notes are highly organized and exams were a bit tough.
What an amazing prof, interesting, easy to understand, and mesmerizing lectures. Would attend if I wasn't even registered in his classes
this profs passion for what he has to teach is astounding. undoubtedly makes all the difference!
Honestly one of the best profs I've ever had! He is so passionate about the material, and he genuinely wanted everyone to succeed in this class. He put in so much extra time and effort for our class just so we could gain a better understanding of the material. Midterm and final were very fair. If I could take all of my classes with him I would!
Scott has a passion for Biochemistry and shows it to the class everyday. Every lecture has examples from work he's done or is doing or has seen or something along those lines. It is all very helpful as it provides real world examples to class theory and makes learning easy. Very good prof. If you get the chance, you should have him as a prof
One of the best profs I've ever had. He was super inspiring. Try your best to not miss the lectures, because they will make your day better and he explains things SO well. He has lots of funny, but relevant stories! If necessary, go watch the recorded lectures after. I studied 97% from the notes and it was fine, but maybe do some textbook problems.
Dr. Napper was a fantastic professor! Lectures are very engaging and he gives great notes. Also does tutorial sessions before exams which I highly recommend going to. His portion of the midterm and final were more than fair. Actually made the course somewhat interesting.
Best prof ever. His lectures make 8:30 classes worth going to, and his extra personal stories make a tough subject so much more relatable. Not easy tests, but not impossible. Take advantage of his lectures and his tutorials
Very passionate about biochemistry and teaching, and it shows in his lectures. He does make an 8:30 lecture livable, and makes the relates the content to stories about his wife and kids. Some lectures can be surprisingly heartwarming for a science course!
Truly an inspiring person all around. He is extremely passionate about his work and helping his students. He makes himself available for help and could not be more clear with his explanations. If I could take every class from him my entire University career, I would.
Dr. Napper is one of my all-time favourite profs. BMSC 200 was a piece of cake only because of his absolutely fantastic and engaging lectures. He is very helpful when you ask him questions and his tutorials are amazing. He is definitely a gifted lecturer and I would love to take another class with him in the future.
Honestly the best professor I've had yet. So sad he only seems to teach one class but he's so passionate about his work and how it fits into the class's topics. All the information you need is in the lectures and he really cares about his students' learning.
Even though I watched lectures online, they were worth watching. I always appreciate profs that can take a complex subject and help others understand it, just like he did with biochem. The course would be much harder if not for his great teaching style. He makes topics relevant with personal stories and is relatable. Tests were very fair.
Napper was literally one of the best profs I've ever had and I'd definitely take another class with him, however your only graded on the midterm and the final.
Scott tells me what the poets are doing. If your looking for a place to happen and this should be a stop along the way. Compared to other profs he is ahead by a century! His lectures would be my music@work. They do work and they do matter!
I took BMSC 200 a couple years ago. It was an online course, which was the only downfall. Would have been better to have him lecture in person because he is truly one of the best profs I've had during my two degrees at the U of S. In a prof. college now, and I wish I could take another class from him. VERY approachable, honest and brilliant prof.
Mint prof, funny, interesting and one of the best.
Scott Napper is the best professor I've ever had. He is extremely kind and caring about his students and job. He said in class if he had one day left to live, he would spend part of that day giving a lecture. That speaks volumes about this incredible man. More professors should have that outlook. Don't need the text, although helpful for reference.
He is one of the most passionate, attractive, and approachable profs I've ever had. He cares so much about his students and has his lectures down pact.
No words can express how amazing this prof is. Truly committed to delivering a good education to his students.
Scott is probably the most amazing professor I've had. He can take someone from any major and make them consider switching to Biochem! He is so incredibly knowledgable and easy to listen to. He seriously cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He made his half of Biomolecules a piece of cake.
Great prof who really cares about his students. Definitely recommend.
Scott is one of the best profs I've ever had. His lectures are super interesting and his stories and examples about class material make this class so much better. Not only is he hilarious but it is clear that he cares about the wellbeing of his students. Would highly recommend taking BMSC 200 from him!!
This guy needs an award. I assume he's gotten some before, because he is an excellent teacher. His notes are thorough, and you don't even need the textbook because he can teach the subject so well. It's clear he loves teaching, and always says how he does. He is also super funny and has plenty of relevant stories to share in class. Best prof ever!
Wow Scott was the best prof I have ever had, and probably ever will have! He taught the content so well. He transformed a topic that was initially foreign to me into a second nature. On top of being an amazing teacher, he is an outstanding lecturer. I would've been sad if I had to miss a lecture from him, that's how interesting it was.
Scott was an incredible prof! He really knows how to teach a lecture and make it as interesting as possible! That being said, I found the course to be a lot of information especially the later chapters. 35% midterm and 65% final is a bit daunting especially with a detail oriented course. Overall really enjoyed Napper and definitly would recommend !
Yeah, Scott is pretty much the best it gets. He's down to earth and 100% dedicated to his class and to his field. Every lecture was worth attending because he made the material so easy-to-understand and his tutorials were valuable too. The exams were straightforward but tested for understanding. He will probably make you want to change your major.
Best BMSC 200 prof around, super friendly and is always willing to answer questions. No textbook required but his lectures are super concise and informative so that makes up for it!
Absolutely incredible prof! 10/10 would recommend. Biochem may seem daunting, but Scott explains the concepts thoroughly, clearly, and concise. He has great metaphors and clearly explains what he expects of his students. The only downfall is that the midterm is worth 35% and the final 65%. Lectures are recorded and available all term.
the best prof I've ever had. Lectures are interesting and he explains concepts clearly and in a way that's easy to understand. Also is really funny and tells lots of interesting stories that help to remember facts. Would highly recommend!
Scott Napper is the best prof you will ever have in UofS. You can see how passionate he is about research and teaching and his stories will make you cry out of pure happiness and inspiration. I cried so much
Scott Napper was very good at helping you visualize different concepts. Would definitely take this class again! Great Prof!
I love this prof so much, by far the best I've ever had. He makes this class my favourite one to attend every day. His recorded lectures helped me tons as I was unable to be present to every lecture. You can notice his passion just by the way he talks.
Incredible Prof 10/10 recommend
This prof was so amazing! He explained things well in a way you could understand, was very good about helping if you had a question, clearly said what things would be on exams and offered incredibly helpful tutorials for exams. Great prof and great guy!
Dr. Napper goes above and beyond what many others profs do. He genuinely cares about his students. His tutorial sessions before the midterm and final are extremely helpful and he will answer any questions you may have. I would absolutely recommend taking this course over an equivalent. He is one of the great ones. And so funny!
Dr. Napper is THE BEST prof I have ever had. Unfortunately it was for a tough class, but he made it a lot easier to understand. 100% recommend taking BMSC 200 with him if you can. He posts lecture captures too which is so helpful.
Unparalleled. Inspirational. Easily the best.
Huge beauty. He was enticing and exciting. Lectures and notes were all you needed to pass the class. Textbook was helpful but not necessary.
Absolutely incredible professor. All the information for tests is from the notes, but I would highly recommend going to class, as Scott does an excellent job of explaining concepts and ties what you are learning into real life stories. There is a lot of material, but if you read the notes and go to class you will be fine. Simply the best for BMSC.
Everyones speaks highly of Scott, although I found him pretty mediocre. He does help you outside of class if need be but I find he is a bit stuck in his ways of teaching this course. I would take the online class instead if possible.
10/10 the best prof EVER. He was hilarious and made amino acids and the like very interesting. He tells very good and funny stories and uses analogies when explaining concepts. I could not say anything bad about this prof.
A real gem! Dr. Napper is the best prof I've had in uni so far. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches, and takes time to explain concepts. He also uses real-word examples and analogies to help you understand better. Definitely the best prof ever
Scott is honestly amazing, and I enjoyed this course because of him. His stories are great, and amazing and is such a good guy. I didn't understand some stuff, and met with him right away. It's hella hard class, but Scott makes it easier to comprehend. Expect a lot of work and memorization.
Best prof I've had so far. He is very good at explaining difficult concepts and keeping everyone's attention even at 8:30 in the morning.
Amazing professor, I highly recommend him. Presented information clearly and explained it well. Had interesting background information about biochem that related to the content. Only graded on the midterm and final. I recommend going to the review sessions if you want a good mark.
Scott is an amazing professor. Hes a genius in his field and could do these lectures in his sleep. He also really cares for his students and makes himself avalible for help when needed. The course is very hard and test heavy but, he given you all the resources and information needed to do well.
One word he is the "GOAT"
By far my favourite professor at this school. He makes the lessons intriguing and I actually want to come to class. He seems to really care about his students. His class is just like any other and you still have to put in a lot of effort to do well.
He's an amazing professor and you can tell he loves his job and he truly cares about his students... not only the student's grades but his or her wellbeing in general. His lectures are memorable and most importantly enjoyable. I've got lots of respect for this guy.
One of the best profs Ive had so far! His tutorials are worth watching as he gives a pretty good idea of what will be in the exam. He really wants his students to do well and he is passionate about what he teaches!
Professor Napper is amazing! Explains concepts thoroughly & makes good analogies. Slides were well organized and contained all needed material - don't need to read the textbook but definitely helps considering the difficulty of this class. Interesting class but very hard if you don't stay engaged and caught up.
Took BMSC 200 online with Napper, yet he is still one of my favourite profs ever. Guy cracked a lot of jokes and made the class interesting. If you have terrible attendance, the online course is the way to go. I would highly recommend taking this class if you have good rote memory, as it is possible to get a 100 in the course
Scott is an absolute legend, best prof I've had so far. He's more passionate than any other prof and he genuinely want's his students to succeed. His lectures are phenomenal
Wonderful professor who makes class interesting. Tests are fair and results are quick. Would definitely recommend taking any class with Napper!
He is amazing!!! The class isn't an interest of mine, but it made a small part of me want to study this full-time haha he posts his lectures but I recommend going to class. So easy to follow and understand. And so entertaining! You can tell he lives his job.
Best prof I've ever had. Goes over material many times until it becomes tatted in your mind and material is fairly easy with video guides provided.
Somebody give this man an award. He takes the trickiest biochemical pathways and describes them in laymans terms, and facilitates the understanding of concepts rather than memorization. I'd recommend taking the class online because being able to pause/rewatch the lectures is SO helpful and really helps if you fall behind . he will change ur life
Scott is the best Professor Ive had. He takes such a difficult and complex topic and makes it seem so simple. His lectures are amazing and although he uses lecture capture I recommend going to class because hes so great. Midterm and final were both fair and he provides you with all the tools of success. Loved this class.
Best professor I've ever had! He is very passionate about Biochemistry, and his lectures are very inspiring. Loved this course and definitely recommend it!
Napper has been one of the best profs I've ever had. He keeps lectures as interesting as possible and doesn't just read off the slides. He elaborates and gives as many examples as possible, and allows us to participate in class. The course is also very manageable as long as you study and understand the content! I recommend this prof!
Napper is the greatest prof I've ever had. He took a very difficult class that I normally would have hated, but explained it so well that I actually enjoyed it. His reviews are exactly what will be on the midterm/final, and you can tell he loves what he does as he puts so much care into his teaching. Watch his review lectures and you'll be fine.
Best prof
I don't care for this subject, but Scott had me genuinely interested in his lectures. Great guy, amazingly passionate about what he's teaching. Lectures are recorded so no need to show up to class as long as you're up to date with the material.
An overall great prof. Super charismatic, everyone loves him. His enthusiasm makes you enjoy the content. Really smart guy, but explains the material so anyone can understand. Does a midterm and final review session, which are great. Only problem is that he talks pretty fast when he gets into it, and you can get lost if you dont pay attention.
Scott is such an amazing professor who cares about and listens to his students. I went to him with concerns about a severe concussion I received and he was very caring and made sure I was able to get help studying or access to notes if I needed it. The class was hard but he made it so much easier! Best prof I've ever had!!
Dr. Napper is by far my favourite prof. He's so engaging with his lectures and often leaves you wondering "what is this man going to say next?" Great sense of humour. Loved his class and would take any class that he is teaching in the future.
While biochemistry may be a daunting class for many, Dr. Napper breaks it down into its components, providing insightful analogies and in-class examples that make complex concepts easy. Dr. Napper is a true gem on campus, and I would highly recommend that you take his class.
Scott is clearly a prof who LOVES to teach and you see it in every lecture. Entertaining, easy to understand, and passionate. Often tells interesting relevant and funny stories. Points out what is important to know for exams, you can really tell he wants you to do well. He really is as great as everyone says. True gem!
Really good lecturer, but very tough marker compared to Roesler and Wu. This is biochemistry, not philosophy, his questions were unfair and too subjective.
Scott Napper truly cares about his job and his students and that shows when he is lecturing. His lectures are easy to understand, engaging, and funny. He makes learning biochemistry easy and fun. I recommend taking a class with Scott Napper to everyone entering the U of S, and would rearrange my schedule to have him as a professor.
Scott Napper is an absolute gem! He handled Fall 2020 by posting lectures from previous semester so the quality of teaching was really good. Midterms and Finals were fair. He tells you hints on what's going to be on the tests and barely any surprises. Easy to get over 90 if you read your lectures.
Dr. Napper is an AMAZING professor. AMAZING! I don't usually leave ratings, but I strongly feel that he deserves it. He explains things in a way that challenges those who are intellectually curious, but not too challenging that you'll hate yourself. He is an inspiring prof; cant stress this enough. the 350 characters are not enough to describe him.
He was the best prof ever! He makes class fun with some funny stories and makes things seem so simple when they really aren't. His lectures were amazing. 10/10 the best professor ever.
Absolutely amazing speaker and has very engaging lectures always making the ideas crystal clear 10/10 would recommend
Amazing prof with very interesting lectures. Would love when he would break off in lectures to talk about interesting things in biochem. All in all, his examinations were very fair and very easy if you studied. Everything is straight out of the lecture and def easy to get a 90+ if you study. The quizzes are easy 100s if you study the content too.
Best professor I've had to date! If you get the chance I would highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Napper. He breaks down complex ideas into simple ones so that you don't get overwhelmed. Everything on the tests and quizzes is from his lectures, so there aren't any surprise questions. If you put in the time you will do well in his class. 10/10
The best bmsc prof
If you have to take a Biochemistry class, please consider taking Dr. Napper, he will change your POV about science itself. You will not be overwhelmed by this class if you put in enough effort to succeed in this class.
University would be a walk in the park if every professor was Scott Napper.
Man, I didn't realize until the end of the term I wasn't watching Kurzgesagt. If every professor was like Scott Napper we would have colonies on Mars right now.
If every prof at usask was like Scott Napper we could solve world hunger and climate change in the same amount of time it takes to make a turkey dinner. Please , please , please if you have the option take this prof.
Can we please clone this man ASAP cuz we need this man at every single bmsc class available at usask. He doesnt have the oooo im smart so thee must use smart words to teach so ppl know im smart attitude like other profs. He uses them simplest analogies to explain difficult concepts and makes biochemistry look like grade 5 science. Best prof ever
I would give dr. Napper my left kidney. Best prof Ive ever had.
I miss you please teach me all my courses....... It's so hard to be lectured by so many different professors. Even in a single class in this degree we cycle through so many profs to then have Scott Napper come in for only two lectures and vanish again only to leave us with mediocrity or something far worse..... im looking at you Ndisang.
Dr Napper makes biochemistry the easiest thing in the world. Genius, funny, he could solve world hunger. Lectures are very interesting. Would give this man my left kidney.
Scott Napper is one of the best profs I have ever had. BMSC 200 is a difficult class if enough enough time is not put into it. The class has many terms that you might have seen in other biology and chemistry classes. It is alot less to do with chemistry then it is to biology.
Best prof I have had at the U of S no way to complain
If I could take BMSC 200 every single term, I would!! He took something like biochemistry and turned into one of my favourite courses, and it's amazing how his passion for science can rub off on you. He's the kind of man you'd want to make the godfather of your children. Dr. Napper can have not just one but both my kidneys:)
ended with a 99 with in person midterm and final, prof is a legend but still takes hard work
I took this class online during the summer. His lectures were engaging and he kept things lighthearted with jokes and stories. That said, he was also transparent about what was important for us to understand for tests. This made studying more efficient and with hard work, I finished the class with one of the highest grades I've ever received!
Dr. Napper is the best professor I have ever had at the U of S. For the first time I am actually extremely sad that a course is over. He explains concepts SO clearly and concisely. He is also extremely down to earth, funny and inspiration to all of his students. Lectures were never uninteresting. 10/10 recommend.
Dr. Napper was great was very clear about what would be on the exam. Actually wants his students to do well. Was very good at explaining ideas in detail and making sure you had a clear understanding. His lectures were entertaining and fun, I really enjoyed taking this course and would definitely take a course with him in the future.
I normally don't leave reviews for any professor but Scott Napper is a brilliant professor, so I had to. Highly recommend taking BMSC 200 with him. I enjoyed this class, even though both Biology and Chemistry are not my forte, but the way he explains everything just makes it so much easier to understand even the most difficult parts of the course.
Best prof i've ever had. If I could take all my classes with him I would. 11/10 would highly recommend.
Napper is a very engaging prof and probably the best BMSC prof. I hate how he is teaching such an easy class Other harder BMSC classes could have gone so much better if Napper was teaching
If all of my tuition money went only to this man I wouldn't even be upset, he is that good. Scott gives the most entertaining and engaging lectures ever and explains every concept with such great analogies that made everything so easy to learn. Tests were very fair, he doesn't try and trick you. Truly the greatest prof ever
Napper is truly an out of this world prof! His lectures are clear and engaging, and his assessments are fair (only very few confusing questions on exams throughout the whole term). He makes the biomolecules content so easy to understand, and if you want further clarification, he is easily accessible by email as well.
I would say hands down the best prof at U of S. I have never wanted to go to a lecture this bad. He can make every lecture hilarious and engaging and he explains every single concept in great detail and clarity. And everyone loves his famous stories when he starts to side-track :).
If I could marry Dr. Napper I would. Amazing prof and an amazing person. The most humble genius I've ever met. Every day I spoke with him warmed my heart. He brought happy tears to my eyes on two separate occasions. I had him for Bmsc 200 and now a super interesting history class, 10/10 recommend Hist237 with Napper and Horwitz.
Napper is an awesome prof, you have to do lots of studying but his exams are super easy and based fully on his lecture slides. He records all the lectures which is nice and he does multiple review sessions before exams. This guy is awesome for people starting out with BMSC courses.
I absolutely loved this class. the lectures were engaging, he was funny, had cool storied, and made class worthwhile going to. Probably best class I'll ever take in my university career. He clearly was passionate about teaching, the topics covered in class, and just biomedical science in general which made the material so much easier to learn
Best prof I have ever had. Highly highly highly recommend. Class is super hard, but way easier under his guidance.
Dr.Napper is one of the best professors I have ever had in my academic journey. No doubt the syllabus was tough but under his guidance everything went smoothly. His enthusiasm for the subject was infectious, and his passion for teaching inspired me to strive for excellence.I would definitely recommend taking his class again.
Dr. Napper is a truly exceptional professor. He teaches topics with clarity and enthusiasm. He ensures that students comprehend all the material and also fosters a supportive learning environment. His lectures are informative and enjoyable. He is one of the best professors I have had. We need more professors like him, especially for BMSC.
Best prof I have ever had. Made getting up and attending my 8:30 class a lot easier. Every day I had his class I was genuinely happy to be there. His tests are tough but fair and he is very approachable.
Dr. Napper was easily the best teacher I have ever had. Material was explained so clearly and he had real examples within his lectures. He was funny, gave great advice, and genuinely seemed to care about every student. He was always willing to talk with students after class, and answer any question any student had. Made an 8:30 class very enjoyable
First of all, I had a bad grade not due to Dr. Napper but due to my own inadequate studying. Scott Napper is an amazing professor and his lectures were fantastic and always interesting. He responds quickly to emails and is always telling stories in his lectures. If you have a class with him, do not drop it! He is helpful for questions as well.
Professor Napper is fantastic - his lectures are engaging and he genuinely cares about students. The class can be challenging, but with his guidance and resources like Unstuckstudy, you'll learn a lot. Highly recommend taking his class.
Dr Napper is one of the best profs I have ever had. He knows his material, is an incredible and esteemed scientist, and super interesting person who shares tons of great stories. That being said he is not a push over and you are required to work hard in BMSC; he offers great explinations and helps you through every step of the way.
The best professor at U of S , he's super knowledgable and the most important thing can covey the content across in a way that is easy to understand. It is not an easy class but all the testing material is directly from notes, no evil questions. And he answers emails so quickly even in evening if you have any doubts. 10/10 would recommend!!
Napper is an amazing professor. His lectures were always entertaining and felt like a breeze to sit through. He is always speaks coherently and is easy to understand when describing difficult concepts. His exam questions were very fair.
Engaging, explain information well and very humorous.
He is incredible, single handedly made me want to take more biochem which I was avoiding like the plague. He is super intelligent and relatable and really cares for the students. He's great with emails, probably the best prof I have ever had.
The lectures were all informative, interesting and entertaining, which is nice when it's an online class. He answers emails very fast and is available for office hours. The weekly quizzes are good to test your understanding. He's extremely passionate about teaching which is what makes him such a good prof
I went from really second guessing choosing a Biology major, considering how bad my highschool biology teacher was, to falling in love with biochemistry and now I'm REALLY considering choosing BMI (Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology) as my BMSC focus. Thank you Dr.Napper!!!
Makes study enjoyable with real life comparisons to complex topics! He should do more vaccine stories 😌
Would've appreciated a chance to show our learning and get feedback in forms other than multiple choice tests and exams.
If he started a cult, I'd join.
His voice is euphoric and he has good yap sessions
Scott Napper was amazing I loved this class!!
Scott was by far the best professor had in my first year here. He made the lectures enjoyable and used many real life examples to relate to the topics we were discussing. With that being said, this is a very hard class and it was not graded on many things, don't rely on the module quizzes to bring your average up- they were often quite difficult.
Scott Napper is hands down the best professor I have EVER had. He is so caring, kind and funny. He explains everything clearly with plenty of examples, always has a smile on his face, responds to emails super quickly, and manages to also give useful advice. Also super clear grading criterion so you can easily get a 90 in the end :)
Dr. Napper was a great professor; clear expectations for midterm and final, lots of examples, organized, funny—really, nothing bad can be said about him. The course itself requires a bit of work, but as long as you put the time in to understand the material, you will be able to achieve high grades.
Very good lecturer, engaging, despite the fact I was viewing online lectures. Grading criteria is very clear- mcq online quizzes and mcq Midterm/ Final. Memorize the lecture/ slide material and you can't mess it up.
great professor
Great professor.
Best professor I have ever had. This course is content heavy, but Dr Napper did a great job at explaining the material. Exams were straightforward, no surprises, and he does a good job at preparing you for what will be on the exams. You can tell he loves teaching and wants everyone to do well. Would definitely take a class with him again.
I loved Dr. Napper as a prof, his lectures were amazing and full of info and you could just tell that he was so passionate about what he does. I loved his stories and the way he taught. It's a content heavy course so that makes it a bit difficult but as long as you pay attention and study hard, you'll be fine! I would definitely take again.
I took his class online and watching the lecture videos made me wish I took him in person. Really great prof with funny stories and I loved the way he engaged with the material as it made a boring subject very interesting.
Scott Napper does a great job emphasizing the particular things to review and study. His exams don't try to trick you often, quizzes reflect the midterm and final. If you need this class just make sure it's with Napper, he explains the content very well and his lectures are quite engaging despite being online.
The BEST professor I have ever had even though I took the course online! He was organized and had great lectures, reviews for the midterm and final, and was very responsive to any questions. Also funny and had some inspirational speeches!
i took it online over the summer but his lectures were so entertaining and well put together it didn't feel like a drag.
