Pretty good professor. Very helpful, and will meet with you out of class. Responds well with email. He'll always call you out in front of the class if you try to leave early though lol. Otherwise pretty cool professor.

Prof Ortolano is a great professor! The dude is young(28). The only complaint is you need a book to do the reading for his in class quizzes. He also does journal entries, to be honest they first were a pain but they helped with the actual essays. I got a solid 96% in his class. He welcomes students to visit his office and he will go over the essay.

Dr.Otrolano is very helpful. He is young and gives you freedom when writing. You must do the readings, but the readings were not long or hard. He is a great professor and made me want to come to class. Highly recommend

Quizzes are really easy as long as you do the readings (most are short) and essays count for most of your grade so don't miss any.

Professor Ortolano is very young but very intelligent. He is the kind of professor that cares about the students, that is the reason why he sets up a conference that makes sure every student is on the right track. A REALLY REALLY GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great teacher, he's always there to help when help is needed. He's passionate about his work and is also a very funny guy. There will be three essays throughout the semester in which must be very detailed. Lets you choose your own topics so that's a plus.

Amazing, recommend to everyone. He's funny, young (as in relatable), clear on grading, gives amazing feedback, is there for you. Do every journal, show up to class, do the reading beforehand! Also, he basically gives you hints about the quiz material beforehand. Always responds and sends reminders via email so be watchful! Only 4 papers. AMAZING.

Dr. O is awesome. I have never been able to relate to a professor like this before. He isn't an easy teacher but he is so clear with everything. One of the most understanding people I have ever met. If you want to enjoy a lecture and be inspired I 100% recommend him. He changed my outlook on Literature completely.

Comp can be very challenging if you don't have a good professor. Dr.O breaks down the guidelines for every assigned paper. He publishes sample essays on canvas that you can refer back to if you're struggling. His class is relatively easy as long as you ask for help when needed and don't procrastinate.

He's a great professor -- very engaging with a well designed course. You can get an A if you're willing to put in the effort for it, but it's not an easy course by any means. Dr. O is always willing to help if you have issues.

He truly shaped me as a student, I use his teachings even a year later. He taught me how to really "read between the lines" in literature instead of how to simply pass a test. His lectures are amazing & full of emotion. He walks in each day with energy & a smile on his face. (AND HE GIVES SNACKS AFTER TESTS) he does his best to keep anxiety low.

Work-Intensive, but very beneficial personally and academically. Papers are mallable to your interests, (helps you learn about yourself) and leaves excellent feedback. Personal class. Best Professor in FSW! Took him for Summer A and got an A even though I missed 3 of the 11 classes. Read, pay attention, participate and listen to his feedback when writing as you are graded on each of those categories. He grading is very fair!

Lots of writing, but in the Summer Mini A class, it was manageable. Interesting subject matter. Final exam is open book and covers quizzes and flashcards. He's awesome! textbook can be a $30 rental - for a summer semester the work was not too bad unless you are taking more than 2 classes, he is a critical grader which we all know can be bittersweet but none the less he is reasonable with his grading. be ready to read and think "in between the lines" of your assignments.

He truly cares about his students and gives good feedback. Assignments mostly consists of a discussion and quiz every Sunday and two major assignments apart from that.

Class is clearly laid out in modules he states clearly what he is looking for. Each week assignments are due at the Sunday before midnight. grades fair, gives exceptional feedback. Dont hesitate to ask for an extended due date, he is reasonable. Be prepared to read and analyze works of literature. I have a newfound appreciation for literary works.

Took Dr. Ortolano's Comp II summer course. It was a mini semester, so a lot crammed into a short time. He is an awesome professor and gives great feedback.

Dr Ortolano was great! He always gave great feedback and let you re-do assignments after feedback is given. For summer A there is 6 quizzes, 2 tests, 7 minor and 6 major writing assignments. NO PROCTORIO!!! he truly does care for you and wants you to pass! he will give you extensions and re-dos!! I would for sure take him again!!!

Super sweet! He ACTUALLY reads your stuff and such nice feedback! He also accepts late work until the end of the semester! The only big assignments you have are just toward building a website and what youre going to have written on it.

His lectures were fun and engaging. If you like a professor who talks a lot, he is the one. His handwriting is not the best when he gives annotations, but the feedback is solid. The assignments and quizzes are easy.

Though I did not take Professor Ortolano's class directly, he was the professor in my lectures for my Comp I class. He was very thorough and friendly, making the class feel less daunting. In the future, if I can take one of his classes directly, I will jump on it! I suggest you do the same.
