hard class but good info prof is tad stand offish until you talk one on one then it is alright
No Comments
Is alright when you talk to him one on one, hyped up on caffeine when teaching and talks very fast, have to study your ass off
If you don't have a photographic memory...forget it, you will probably not do well the first time..or the second. Take course over the summer in Sioux Falls.
Take this class from ANYONE else!!!!! He makes it way harder than he should. You have been warned. EXTREMELY arrogant!!!
Take it with anyone else unless if your grade doesn't matter. Very good at teaching the subject, but his tests are on trivial subjects. The questions he asks are questions that you would never expect to be on a test. If you don't know EVERY detail, you're going to have problems.
Kind of a jerk in class, but nice one on one. Tests are very unpredictable. I studied harder for this than any other class, but I still got a C.
Great teacher. Tough but fair and willing to work with anyone who wants help. Very interesting, and knows a heck of a lot about the topic
This is the hardest class ever!! He is a big jerk!!! You will never be prepared for what he puts on the test because he pulls the questions out of his ass!!! Take it with anyone else and I promise you won't regret it.

He was a great teacher just going to class is entertainment. The tests are hard and the lab tests even harder. This class calls for 1 hour a day at least for studying

study hard, you have to know your****, but it pays off in the end
Very supportive. His attitudes have changed my life for the better.
doesnt know the first thing about human healthcare. teach the structure Scott, leave the clinc experience to the people who have experience in it and leave your bias, opinion based facts at home, or in the bat cave.

Dr. Pederesen Rocks my world!!!! He is by far one of the best professors on campus. The people that dislike him are the ones who do bad, or people that judge people with different opinions. He makes sure you know your****, I wouldnt want anyone that failed his class to work on me.
There's no joking around in this one, you better buckle down and study your whale-bone off... Yeah, anyway, he is a crass professor, but knows his stuff inside and out, and will expect as much from you. If he offends you, good, you'll either stand more firm in what you believe or wont...You'll be a better student if you can survive this one.
He is one of the most entertaining teachers ever. He is very crass, but is never truly insulting. People who don't like him usually are lacking a good sense of humor.
Pederson is probably my favorite professor thus far. Yes, the class can be difficult, but only if you don't put the time in. He will speak his opinion, and even though I didn't agree with many, it was still entertaining. I never fell asleep in this class.
class is very hard but he is a good teacher
Most challenging class i have ever taken. Great professor, very entertaining but tries to trick you. If you have no problem studying and memorizing things then youll be fine. requires more work than you think
A funny guy... Love his trucks, love his hair, NOT! A great teacher, and a connoisseur of fine beer...I never fail to learn something from him
Interesting material if you're going into a health-related field. He can be arrogant at times and you should be aware he frequently denounces organized religion, creationism, and conservatives. Overall, though, I think he does truly care about his students and want them to succeed.
Dr. Pedersen is a great teacher for Anatomy. Falling asleep in his class is difficult because he's always cracking some sort of comment here or there. I personally loved his class, although I disagreed on some of his opinions. Overall, I highly recommend him for a professor. However, in order to receive an A, you have to KNOW your stuff!
Crude and rude. Hard too. So very hard.
Pedersen is almost as informative as he is energetic. He's passionate about what he does and is entertaining enough to make attending class interesting even if the topic's not.
Pedersen never answers questions in class and he talks a lot about things that won't be on the exams. The exams are more difficult than they need to be. Narrow down your studying to the most important topics and don't get distracted by minor details. He's a tricky guy.
1. Pedersen keeps Anatomy interesting. He's even more fun to be around when you take the internship 2. His energy lit up the room, expecially the smoking lecture. 3.Yes, you do have to work hard in the class, but if you're going into the pre-professional programs, they only expect the BEST students. Being good in anatomy is very helpful.
Makes class interesting and fun. I like how he has us use our own bodies to learn from.
Very opinionated, but tremedously helpful one on one and truely wants to see students succeed!
Very difficult teacher, LOTS OF MEMORIZATION
Pederson is very good professor. Knows how to present the material so that you students can comprehend it. It is a hard class, but a little time pays off.
Pedersen is a great teacher! while I am retaking his class because it is challenging, if you study A LOT, review a lot, memorize well and study early for tests you will do ok. It is attainable but you have to work for it! This class is not for slackers. Nothing like anatomy in highschool!
He's incredably entertaining. He's a little crazy and very opinoinated, but it keeps you interested. His jokes are funny and he does a great job explaining things. He's also always available in his office for help. This class is extremely difficult though so he will try to scare you on the first day. Make sure you put in the study time.
Amazing teacher. He's the only prof that I've had that could make class fun while still teaching. It was great. You actually want to attend his lectures.
entertaining and helpful. anybody that can't pass this class doesn't belong in college.
PEDERITE - Become one!!!!!!!
pederson is an AWESOME prof. very entertaining and he knows his stuff... the man is practically a genius... the class is hard but he will do everything he can to help those who want to learn, very strong opinions on evolution, politics, and religion, so beware
Very good professor!! He's definitely the most helpful professor I've ever had. He keeps the class very interesting, and if you go talk to him personally, he'll help you understand absolutely anything you don't understand about the class. He's very opinionated, but he means well. I highly recommend taking this course with him.
Pedersen is a great teacher. You need to be willing to learn but he will help you in anyway he can!
Pedersen is a great teacher. Anyone who comments on here that he's a bad teacher has no business being in the medical field. He is very helpful and will do anything he can to help you do well in his class. Study and you will be fine photographic memory not needed!
Anatomy is a very challenging course, sometimes confusing. Dr.Pedersen is very helpful when you ask him a question in class and when you meet him in his office. The lectures are very interesting.Read the textbook, study lecture notes (friends quiz each other),do self-quizzes,and study diagrams in the textbook plus netters atlas and flash cards.
Best professor I have ever had! He really cares for your success.
By its very nature, this is NOT an easy class. It's like learning a dead language (Latin) and a seldom used modern one (Greek). 99% of medical terms are based oln these languages. You have to keep up with the reading and drill, drill drill to memorize these terms. Pedersen will bend over backwards to help you understandbut YOU must make theeffort.
class is a lot easier than it used to be. still have to study a little bit every night, going to the review sessions and open labs will help you a ton and he notices that and will curve your grade up if you are borderline - just make sure to go check your tests everytime
Great professor with humor. Attendance is not mandatory but highly suggested. He does go over notes very quickly as there is a lot of info. Open labs and review sessions help a ton!
Dr. Pedersen is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have a whole new appreciation for the human body after taking his class. His teaching ability is outstanding--the best there is. He is energetic, clear, and even "humerus" sometimes to keep the class alive. Awesome, awesome professor. I'd recommend taking his class to anyone.
BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER.
Dr. Pedersen has been one of the most influential teachers at SDSU. If you put the time in for this class, it will definitely pay off. If you don't put the time in to this class don't expect to obtain a B or higher.
Great Teacher, Class is unbelievably hard. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CHALLENGE A GRADE
He is a very interesting teacher. VERY HARD class. Do not go into this thinking its going to be easy
Would not reccomend taking a class with him at all I will leave it at that
Very passionate about what he is teaching. An A is do-able if you actually put in the time.
Dr. Pedersen is a great professor, but like all these other comments tell, it IS a hard and challenging class. Take the time and put in the effort from the start. Wintrode has a few great tutors. Get in there ASAP!
Class was not as bad as some people may say it may be. Very helpful esp. during office hours. Class attendance not mandatory but highly rec. Study for labs ahead of time and do the self quizzes. Use anatomy SI, great SI leaders. Put in lots of study time and you will do fine. Take good notes. His notes = your new BIBLE
Best professor EVER! Tons of energy and always explained clearly. He LOVES Anatomy and it shows. LOVED this class and being an intern and UGTA. Strongly recommend following the class with those, he writes great LOR.
Very Helpful and gives interesting and energetic lectures. He also cares for the success of his students and will answer all questions thoroughly.
He's probably the smartest person I've ever talked to, the guy knows everything. Brilliant, in a quirkydevious way.. I actually really enjoyed his lectures because although the material is tough, he's very charismatic and holds your attention. Don't let the material scare you, if you really study, it will come together!
Pedersen is a brilliant, hilarious, and goofy dude. Pedersen talks extremely fast and is hard to follow during lectures. He has these "sticky notes," which are poorly drawn diagrams explaining important material to which will be on the exam. He does a great job of having many help options students can use for help in this course!
Dr. Pederson is by far one of the top professors I have had so far!! He genuinely cares about the students and their success. His anatomy course is tough, but he does whatever he can to prepare you and will answer any questions. Work hard and it will pay off!
Dr. Pederson is an amazing professor. His class is very challenging but he is always willing to help.
Pedersen is awesome! He truly cares about your grade and helping in every chance he has. His lectures are fun and upbeat but necessary to go to. He makes learning about the human body fun!
I could not stand Dr. Pedersen's notes and he went way too fast during lectures. Hardest class I have ever taken. His tests are hard and you can expect to not get much sleep. He also has a sick sense of humor and it felt like he wanted you to do bad.
Dr. Pedersen is a wonderful professor. He keeps students attentive by moving around the stage, making jokes, and writing on the white board. Everything he writes down, you should too. If you take the time to study for the class, you will receive an A. Don't just study for lecture, or just for lab. Studying for one will benefit the other. Loved it!
Funny in lectures but not much help when struggling. Be aware u may feel uncomfortable about the things he says in lecture he comes off rude and cocky
Dr. Pedersen is a great teacher, but makes you work and earn your grade. If you put in the hours of studying, you will pass. He is always willing to help you understand the material if you go and talk to him. Very respected and really cares about his students and their education. His sense of humor makes class a little more bearable!
Doc is a very respected professor that makes you really earn your grade. Expect to work hard but gain a LOT of knowledge and experience on the cadavers.
Good teacher, knows what he is talking about and will give you his time if you need help. The class is ALOT of work to get even a passing grade. I know a lot of people who ended up dropping. The only points are earned through tests. Get ahead and be prepared to dedicate your life to this class the semester you take it.
Funny guy, respect him or you'll get your head ripped off.
He is extremely nice, and very smart beyond all our years. He knows what he is talking about, which is what makes this class so incredibly hard unless you study every second of the day. Don't think you can take this class without studying, you WILL fail. Lab is tied in with this class also, so you need to do good in both lecture and lab.
Dr. Pedersen has a passion for what he is teaching, and makes it obvious that he wants his students to both understand and apply the knowledge gained through lecture and lab. He cares about his students and is willing to help them understand topics that may seem difficult. Make sure to review your exams and attend open labs!
Great teacher. Cares about his students. His lectures are more than just reading off of a slide. He will use knowledge and humor to teach. This is a class with a bunch of information so be prepared to work for your grade, but all of the information is in the lecture notes so know those front to back. The lab is also full of information!
Scary in lecture but nice out of class
Amazing teacher! I truly loved his anatomy class, it was extremely informative and interesting. He seems extremely scary at first, but if you go and talk to him he is extremely kind and helpful. I would recommend going and talking over your tests with him he will give you great feedback! I would spend 4+hrs studying a day but I love human biology!
Dr. Pedersen doesn't take attendance but he will notice if you are a student that shows up and tries in his class. He is a great instructor, and keeps the class interesting. Do not procrastinate in this class. He does do patterns on some exams, so don't let that mess with you. And there is sometimes material from lecture on the practical's.
I studied at least 3 hours each day. Doc is a great professor! Go into his office hours and he always has a great explanation. He will also give you a hint if that is really something important for the exam or not. His lecture notes are also everything that will be on the exam along with some of the slides in class.
Doc has such enthusiasm about the course that it makes it easier to want to learn the information. He is very specific and tells you when he is going to be talking about information that will be on the test.
An Excellent professor I learn so much from him.
Anatomy was one of the toughest classes I have taken, but I still really enjoyed it and feel like I learned a lot. It's super important to attend lecture and SI because the tests are really hard. To do well you need to know the note guides pretty much word-for-word, so anytime you can go over them again is helpful. If you study hard you will pass.
Print out your lecture notes at the start of the semester. Often jumps around notes and skips thing to come back later. Fast paced class. Tries to trick you on purpose for exams and quizzes. Really have to work hard for grade.
Amazing lectures, a very good professor. He is available during his office hours and very willing to help and answer questions and go over material in more detail if needed.
Hes great. Super chill. Really helpful.
Dr. Pedersen is a great dude with very interesting lectures. He cares much about his students as individuals and values their feedback and he gives his feedback quickly and often. He makes you work for the A in the class but it is a great class to take.
Anatomy is a difficult class to take, but Doc gives you everything you need to succeed. Textbook is only required for lab, and exams are hard but he curves everything if needed. Studying is a MUST.
Dr. Pedersen teaches a hard course, but a good grade in his class is completely possible! Study hard for his exams and go to office hours if you have questions about ANYTHING! He'll spend as much time with you as you need and sometimes drops hints on what will be on exams. He usually gives extra credit out for IDEA survey, but don't depend on it.
Doc is perhaps one of the most entertaining lecturers I've ever had. That being said, his class is very lecture heavy but he does tell you some specific upcoming exam questions and their answers. He gives you all the resources needed to succeed. He's also very eager to help students. One must study at least an hour for every lecture to do well.
Very informative and thorough course, but he structures exam questions in ways that try to trick you, so the tests and practicals are very difficult. If you study you should be okay, but it takes a loooot of studying.
Doc teaches a tough class, but does an excellent job at teaching it. You have to put in more work into this class then a regular 4 credit class, but his expectations are clear. You should show up to open lab/lab/lecture ignorer to prepare yourself to succeed. Go to tutoring.
Great Professor! He is very entertaining and funny which makes lecture fun to go to. Lots and lots of time is put into this course. Your tests and practicals are your primary grade so prepare lots for those. Its a hard class, but do not let what others say scare you. If you put in the time and effort you will do great in this course!
Pedersen was really hard to understand when we went through the lecture, he would get off topic very easily. It was very unclear for me to understand what we need to study due to the fact the notes and slides never matched up. His tests are hard and have tough questions.
Exams and practical exams make up almost your entire grade. The lecture exams are frustrating because although he tells you to study his notes- he does not always use questions from them. He skips around a lot and chooses to use questions that trick you instead of answering straight forward questions.
Entire course requires you to teach yourself everything outside of class. Professors don't prepare you for the very difficult exams & would rather test you over the most negligible details instead of what's important. You're set up to fail this class unless you put in ten times the effort that the professors did when designing this course.
The class itself is one of the hardest classes Ive ever attempted. His lecture are extremely off topic and hold little to no help on your studding. His exams are set up in a way to trip you up rather then to help you succeed. The exams are only there to test you on small details that arent covered in lecture instead of the topics discussed.
There are no assignments, just tests which is what makes this class so hard. Doc often gets off-topic. He goes through chapters really fast and near the end, there is a lot of material to go over that he just blows right through. Definitely use tutoring or SI or both. This class is used to weed out people who aren't willing to put in the work.
Doc is great at teaching this class. The content is a lot and is sometimes overwhelming. The class is primarily tests, so a lot of studying goes into the lecture tests and practicals. Would definitely recommend taking this class, just be ready to put in the work.
Dr. Pedersen is the best professor I have had so far. Truly knowledgeable and caring in the subject of anatomy. He cares for his students and makes lectures enjoyable. This class is hard and takes a lot of work, but it is truly worth the work in the end.
Very test heavy class, and extremely hard
By far the best anatomy professor I ever could have had. AMAZING!!!!
