Test is 1/2 of the lecture notes and 1/2 the book terminology. Fun class, little studying requiered for an A.

really fun class. i love going to class bec. he keeps you awake with great stories and funny examples. lots about motorcycles and traveling but really interesting. i always remember the examples and they are on the test. notes are important and concepts from the book. great tan for a white guy!!!!!!

I loved the course and his teaching. I learned so much in the course and especially liked dramaturgy and the exchange ideas on "love" and relationships. He has a great smile as well as a sense of humor. Keep smiling Dr. Reid, Merry Christmas. :)

Dr. Reid is great. He's funny, he gives no quizzes only tests. He loves talking about motorcycles and his love towards the desert. Easy to understand him. Overall, great teacher and keep on truckin'...or riding.

Dr. Reid is an awesome professor! There wasn't one class period that went by without me laughing or smiling. Though I only took him for Intro to Sociology I promise you won't regret taking his class!

Dr. reid is a cool guy. I had a death in the family and two other professors were incompasionate. Dr. Reid let me come to his office to get the missed notes and talked with me about them. He was understanging and is very down to earth. He clearly loves teaching. I hope to take more classes with him.

He's also seen the world which you can see on his website. One bad thing is he gives a little too much notes.

Very, very cool class and cool professor. I love the class each day and people are actually bumed out when it is over. I have never had a class like that yet. Time goes fast and we have a lot of fun while we go over the stuff. I agree, there is NO spoon Dr. Reid!!!!

Excellent professor fun class the semester I took him I was going through alot of changes in my life and going to his class made it alot easier. I actually learned something. More professors need to be like him.

I took him in the Spring time and all the things I heard about him were ture. He is one of the best at UTB. I had him at 8am and I think I only missed 2 days of class. He keeps classes fun and interesting and makes you want to get out of bed just to not miss his class. I would tell anybody that needs SOCI 1301 to take him. GREAT TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great class. My sister took him and never stopped talking about it everyday and I had to take him. I love this man. He eats brocli, carrots, and apples while he teaches. He gives to much notes but its all so interesting. You have to read the book to for the test. Never falls asleep in this class.

GREAT teacher. loved his class. there is notes and its easy. you use the book a little. Hes a cutie i sat right and the front missed only once.

he plays neil young before class. the class is very relaxed. he told us we are doomed to be just another very thin layer in the grand canyon called "age of humans." ha ha. does not take attendance but everyone shows up anyway. we have 4 exams and a written thing.

He is awsome! I don't think I've met someone that hasn't liked him or that hasnt passed his class! he has great ways of seeing life! doesnt care for attendence but gets annoyed by tardiness!He is an animal lover! and hates facebook and says its all about myspace lol worth paying to take his class!

fun to coming before class he shows stuff about yellowstone and explains how the earth works. some mornings he goes off about big brother and how professors free thought. one funny thing was he said if he was not a professor he would be a hobo roming around the world. take him if you can.

He won't let people come to class with shirts with names of places unless they have been there. lol. He has an incredible sense of humor. Def take his class. Its one of the best at UTB.

He brings in great examples from his research sabatical with bikers. He met the hells angels in Alaska- such a great story. I have learned allot already. He seems happy as he smiles all the time and this makes class uplifting.

my financial aid was late so I explained it to him and he loaned me his book. none of my other professors helped me or showed any compasion. He told me how he was on financial aid as a student and understood. hes a really nice guy.

Really lively class. If you come early he plays Texas Rangers games on the big screen. He's a big Rangers fan.

If you listen Dr. Reid is a colorado rockies fan and arizona diamondbacks fan first then the texas rangers. I argue with him before class about it. Texas rangers are the reigning american league champs. How cool to have a professor into baseball! He said he can't bet me on any games.

He is a rangers fan because I talked with him after class and he actually knew the lineup. He said he'd have to take the rockies in a world series if it was between them and the rangers. takes guts to say that to a texan. he's a very cool person and will take the time to talk with you if you approach him.

Lively class. He can get a class going even at 8. He eats his lunch then and calls it afternoon when you say good morning. Tell us when the Rangers are playing. I'm an Astros fan and he's not. Oh well.

I spent at least 15 minutes discussing existentialism with him. We did it in philosophy and I never understood it. He made understandable and I found out he is an existentialist. So he loaned me a bunch of books. He makes you want to read and learn about things. He needs to teach philosophy and more people would like it.

He is a pretty cool profesor. Sometimes he get too paranoid, but its kind of funny. He probably reads all these comments because he studies interaction with poeple. So Dr. Reid if you reading, all have to say "sup"/

Class was very deep as how philosophy affects how deviance is studied in sociology and there are multiple ways of studying deviance etc. He made my head hurt many times with that stuff. Wanted an A but got a B but my fault. One of the best classes I have ever taken. Cudos!

I agree with the last caller. deviance class was the deepest I have ever had. he teaches it from the philosophy behind the theories and from there. taking him for criminology in may. he keeps you awake with his teaching style.

Taking Reid in summer now. He talks about his inmates in the prison he taught in and makes class realistic. Time goes fast even on those hard a** seats.

He really cares about students because he talks to us about college in general and how important it is and how to study. He does not take attendance and everyone is always there anyway. This is the best class this term.

For a guy without children he is understanding because I explained I needed to be late to class because of taking my daughter to daycare. He said he understands as he has dogs and made me feel better w/ the dogs comment and he said its his job to work with students not against them. He's friendly and a good teacher.

i like his best lectures when he just talks to us about sociology. he calls it old school teaching. plan on taking him again. class is very laid back!

He introduced me to my now favorite author Edward Abbey. After reading bunches of Abbey I know see where Dr. Reid is coming from about the desert, nature, mankind lost in a sea of technology. etc. Keep teaching without the gizmos Dr. Reid. you dont need them!

Classes are lively and filled with real life examples. He's down to earth -- not uptight and stuffy like many college professors. He's always sports running shoes. Love it! He writes GO RANGERS! on the board each day and the bottom of our class emails. so here -- GO RANGERS!

great class in all respects. He said the first time he truly fell in love it was with a super volcano. I love his wit and cynacism. If you want to get him talking ask him about yellowstone. he lights up!

this is the best on-line so far. I was hesitant but learned much about deviance. He grades papers and exams hard but he tells you that up front. and he expects and treats us like college students not highschoolers. hes also a big rangers fan. Go Rangers Doc!

His class is very relaxed and overall there is a good feeling like students want to be there. His reputation made me take his class and I'm glad I did.

HE taught us how to study based on how profs test and cares about us staying in college, talks abt real life so you understand stuff and loves the cowboys and the rangers.

Had army resv training and needed to miss the exam. He was the only 1 of my professors to work with me. None cared. He told me he supports the troops and whatever I needed. Then talked with me about the military. He's real with you and down to earth 110%! thanks.

Have him for online criminology, had for intro and deviance. he got me into charles bukowski and sartre. great teacher who makes you excited and crave to learn.

Lectures are intresting talkes about his experiences. Test are over notes and vocab. from chapters that are assigned. Recommend him. Loves his dogs and Yellow Stone! lol

Love, love, LOVE this guy! He's probably the only professor to make me WANT to attend an 8 A.M. class. He makes things so basic and simple to learn, yet very informative and motivating. Exams are simple, completed the final within 20 minutes. Definitely recommend him and would not mind taking a course with him again:D

Uses visual examples so we understand ideas like the Harley shop and how diff groups define the harley. luv when he shuts evthng off even lights and talks to us about sociology. Hes a talented teacher who loves what he does. A++

I left my book in the class and somebody took it. i cant afford another so i emailed him frantic. he said dont worry about it i will loan you my copy. who does that for somebody? great guy! have only been in the class for a week but its already my favorite.

He rides his mountain bike to class so I told him I ride with some super hard core gonzo mountain bikers at the isle and invited him. he just looked at me and said sure, i'll be there. then he actually showd up with 2 of his bikes and road with us. cool professor for doing that.

Dr. Reid is down to earth. he went over my grades and showed me what i needed for the final, and wrote it down for me. he was nice about it. both my other profs were like go look on blackboard and blew me off. He loves to teach and it shows.

Sociology of Deviance Class: The Professor communicated whith his online class constantly and kept them up to date with requirement of the class. I enjoyed the class and learned alot.

This class was interesting and I did not think it would be. Dr. Reid always reminded us of due times. Sometimes several reminders. The exams and papers were hard but he grades fair. You do have to write a lot but he tells you that up front. Will take again.

the course goes by modules with daily due dates. the topics are very interesting (except the gender one--not my thing). he emails us daily and sometimes more than that. answers his emails quickly and even will call you if u need to talk about things.

e-mailed dr reid at 3am about my paper due at 9am n he answered me at 4:30.am you cant beat that turn around. definately he's there for you if you need him. others ive had disappear once it begins - not this guy. he's there! A+ instructor!

best online class and i took 4 already. Dr. Reid is very organized and class is setup by weekly modules and assignments with clear due dates. He even emails us reminders. They dont have office hours but he met with me anyway bec I neeed to talk. He is there for the class.

I am really enjoying this class. had research methods in another field and I will not say which but I am learning more in this class by far. he bases the class on his research experiences and makes it more real world. plus we are doing a research project. def rec this class to majors.

told us he would help us all the way along research project down to data anlysis and its really true. as long as you take time to see him he will give extra help. the paper is red red when you get it back literally every paragraph so you do get feedback to improve.

i have dr. reid for intro and all the things i hear are tru. he is very passionate as a teacher & makes you really understand sociology. he is excellent teaching and there is no other way to say it.

Online Deviant Behavior now and also took for Urban. I had a paper topic idea off from what he spec in syllabus so I emailed him and met me in his office and talked to me. Allowing me to do my paper. YES! He said we are here to learn not collect credit hours and worked with me. Cool prof makes you want to expand knowledge.

Enrolled in American communities online with Dr. Reid this semester. He stay in contact with e-mail and also reminders of due dates & times. The class is very structured in weekly modules and overall organized. Quizzes, essay midterm and essay final and a big paper. so far so good.

The most relaxed atmosphere of any class. The way he teaches makes you understand the ideas and really learn. He never seems like he is in a bad mood and is friendly and likes his job. Its my favorite class. I strongly recommend this class to anyone.

I never had a teacher so approachable. Before class he is always there really early and talks to us or shows ytube videos about people living in vans or on the edge of society. Its like a class before class. He even teaches us how to study and tells how important college is to our life.

We talked about Marx and he started quoting me stuff so I asked him about my paper for another class. He took me to his office and loaned me pile of books. My other Prof just told me a trip to the library was in order. lol. Dr. Reid was cool to do that for me, help me with another class.

Dr. Reid is the best. My mom was in the hospital and theres no way I could get my paper in by due time. I emailed and he was understanding and said turn it after I got things in order. No fuss with this man he just works with you. way it should be.

Turned in my final on positive deviance. I learned a lot and had a great time. The theories and topics were very interesting. Well done Dr. Reid - thanks for all the help and encouragment these past few years - I am graduating and you sure helped!!!!!

I took deviance with Dr. Reid. I applied to 5 grad schools and asked him for references. He met with me to print, fill out and send stuff. He also did my other letters. Another Professor never did it AT ALL. Dr. Reid shook my hand and said that's why he's here, no problem! I put "he is there for you" bec he is!

Taking Criminology on-line right now in Maymester. The topics are fascnating with interesting readings about crime and criminals. He expects a lot on exams and grades tough but he tells you that in the announcements. Class is going quick.

I found the class organized and put together very well. We learned much in a short period of time. The topics are all interesting.

This was interesting course which I learned a bunch and one of the Ive had where I am keeping the book. Dr. Reid is there when you need and he e-mails reminders for midterm paper and final and other due times.

This professor was really great. He keeps it real. He is what every professor should be. He gives you the information in a way that you actually learn not just memorize for the next test. Plus he is kinda cute lol.

He was my favorite professor at UTB because of his unique style in his lectures and his biker gang stories. I also remember him always snacking on bread with peanut butter lol
