This was by far my BEST math teacher ever! I went into this class hating math and not understanding much of anything, but left with a much better knowledge of it and more confidence. The class itself was difficult, but he explained things so well, I actually knew what I was doing. A++++ teacher!!!!
Great teacher. My best math teacher by far. Has interest in what he does and very energetic. Took him for two years and well worth it.
Loved his classes. He is a great teacher!!
Scott rocks! Great class. Great at explaining everything.
I recommend if you need a math teacher for upper level courses.
Made himself available for help daily. Very interested in student success. more fun thatn the average math class.

Awesome teacher. He is an instructor's instructor. He would jump at the chance to take the time explain in many different way's. He truly shoudl be getting paid more than community college wages
Great teacher, always willing to help struggling students. His class is always insightful and entertaining. HE WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED!
Scott Satake is THE BEST math teacher I have ever encountered. Before I enrolled in his class I was terrified of math. It made me feel ill at the thought of it. Scott makes every person in his classroom feel smart and capable. He's willing to help ANYONE who asks, regardless of whether or not they're in his class. I will take Math from no one else.
scott satake is the best!!!!!!
well if you like sports you might enjoy, since he seems more interested in that, than the actual material, when he finally gets to teaching he rushes through it, good luck!
Scott's awesome. Yeah, he likes to talk sports but it's nice to relax a little before getting into the evilness we know as algebra. Highly recommend him.
Scott is awesome. He helped me through a whole two semester of pre calc even when he wasn't my teacher. Go Seahawks.
Scott expects you to do your homework. He is funny and a great teacher. He teaches like how he wishes he was taught, crystal clear. He makes examples that help you remember certain rules of math. He is worth every penny of every class he teaches. By far, one of the best ones out there!
Scott is very funny. Many days in class was non-stop laughter. But he is easily distracted-might be a little too fond of listening to himself talk. He looses time getting distracted, then rushes through the lesson. Best teacher for likable, not the best for covering the material in the time given.
Hardest working teacher I ever met. Will go to any length to help you. Lots of energy.
This guy deserves a raise!!
I really loved Scott as a teacher. He shows every student respect and is very personabl. If you need help he is unintimidating and willing. He explains the material in a unique way. Definately a great guy and teacehr.
fast paced and not for slower math students. great for you wiz kids though.

He is a great teacher and I highly recommend his class. Pros: He makes his lectures understandable and will always allow students to ask questions during the lectures. He is also almost always available in his office if you need extra help. Cons: He makes a lot of ridiculous jokes and sometimes gets off topic (he likes to talk about sports)
His calc 1 class more than prepared me for calc 2 at a university... I struggled in his class, but here at the "U" I find calculus so easy... he gave me a great calc base.. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Scott is a great teacher. He cares if you learn or not which is super important. Always answers questions and is available after hours. Doesn't make you feel dumb and loves to explain stuff, even tries to learn from his students if they have a good point! He loves sports and is super talkative but I didn't mind it. Take his class if you can!
Scott is an awesome teacher and makes sure the class is fun. He is there to help and makes sure everyone is on track.... also a great sports guy--- and always has time for a joke
Scott is absolutely the BEST math teacher I have ever had. He is very clear and willing to answer even the dumbest questions people ask. His tests are easier than the homework.
Best teacher I've had. He cares about your grade and has no problem meeting after class or answering all questions in class. He's wonderful
A great professor who teaches mathematics in a decidedly non-mathy fashion (i.e., he actually manages to make class fun, and applicable to real-world events). Satake is the best teacher to request if you have math anxiety. Do the work and attend class every day, and you will do well. One warning: He calls out slackers and does not tolerate idiots.
The tests are difficult, but he likes to challenge you and that's not necessarily a bad thing. He's a very fun teacher, very interesting, and entertaining to listen to. i would definitely recommend this class.
Scott is by far one of the best instructors ever! He interacts with the class and is fair. Highly recommended!
ok, be warned of bad jokes for the whole class. You will need to about 500 sheets of notebook paper, because he loves to write on the board and all the homework you will have. Must do all homework. He was helpful if you had questions. Lots of quizs and tests. He talks to fast sometimes and you miss important things.
Scott is passionate about math & passionate about helping students. He is kind, patient,&helpful. He won't tolerate slacking, but he makes the class so fun it's easy to get involved. I was scared to death of math before, but he made it so easy to learn and is energetic and clear in his lectures. I wish there were more instructors like Scott at SCC.
He is a Gladiator! He tore his hamstring OFF, had major surgery, back within a week, on crutches, to make sure his students were taken care of. He's humorous, dedicated, motivated, motivating and clear on operations. Algebra is ‘work’ but he shows you how to get it done. (And if you don’t get it… he’ll help you!)
To say the class is very fast pace is an understatement. His grading does not reflect your knowledge. He marks down for items that have nothing to do with solving the problem or demonstrating your knowledge of the subject matter. Would not recommend this instructor.
He is nice as a person but when it comes to class he talks way to much. If yoy can teach yourself great but if you need a teacher to teach you don't take him. He spends way to much time on homework questions not enough time on lectures. If he spent more time on lectures there wouldn't be so many homework questions. Think about it.
This guys a big talker! Scott is fun and loves to talk up a storm. He will sometimes over talk and try to fit the lesson in the last 4 mins of class. He always there before and after class with questions. Listen to his math rules and always do them. He will mark you down for bad spelling. Also in story problems always write LET X =!! Enjoy him
This guy is AWESOME! He really cares about his students success and he will work with you if you need help. His tests are super easy compared to Kelly's tests (if you took him). Scott drops 2 quizzes and he collects 1 section of homework each week. You will do great if you understand the math and DO YOUR HOMEWORK! BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!
Good teacher and good person. 99 is a hard class, but if you do exactly what he says and put in the time you should pass. He cares about his students.
You do have to put the work in, and the attendance policy is very strict, but if you show up every day and do the homework (maybe an hour a week) it's easy to stay on track. Very helpful professor, will answer your questions and will respect you for asking. Easy to pay attention to and very organised. Lots of useful mnemonic devices for formulae.
This instructor blabbers way too much in the class and he completely goes off the main subject, plus he wastes the whole lecture hour without investing the time to explain the material clearly. He only goes over homework questions and his office hours are open only once during early in the morning. Its hard to ask for help, he isn't very welcoming.
I struggled with math 099 and failed it the term before I took it with Scott. after bombing the first test I was ready to quit but he called me in his office and flat told me that he would do whatever he could to help make sure that each and every one of his students would pass his class I struggled all term but with his help I got and 85%
Took this class & it was awesome! Scott is so down to earth & was willing to help. I also loved that he cares if you're at school or not! It really does make you realize that he does care for his students! It's a show up, do your work & get the grade or slack & fail! Great teacher! If you're here to learn, I'll recommend Scott! & he's cute! Haha.
Really good sense of humor.
Scott's a great guy. If you find him during his office hours, he will help you out and make sure you understand every little detail. He also keeps his lectures interesting and I had a good time. Yes, he can get sidetracked every once in a while but if you just come to class and come talk to him if needed, you will pass his class.
Scott is extremely nice and wants you to pass. Don't use your phone in class and actually show up because you can only miss 5 days a quarter or he'll take points off of the next test.
Great teacher! If you need help just ask, he is always around. Test are there to see if you can do the work he teaches you.
Scott is one of those teachers that wants you to succeed. He actually cares about student success. Math is not always easy but he is there to help you and will give you specific problems to work on before a test or quiz. His tests are clear if you study and put the extra study time toward understanding. Overall, great teacher, and fun guy!
Scott is an amazing math instructor. It took me a few days to get used to his style but he is an outstanding teacher. He genuinely cares about his students and their success and he wants to be a part of that success. I respect him. His class, by nature, requires a lot of time and effort in doing the homework. He graded based on the student you are.
I took 99 with Scott, then 141. He is a truly amazing teacher who cares about his student's success. He's got a lot of energy but once you get used to it, his style works. He is very down to earth and grades based on who you are as a student. I HIGHLY recommend watching YouTube videos on how to use the graphing calculator before taking this class.
This was the hardest class I've taken while in college so far. The teacher wants you to succeed, but the class being online makes this very difficult course even more difficult. As long as you stay organized and really push yourself, you should be fine.
Scott is a great professor. The material is hard and unless you're good at math and it comes easy for you, then understanding the precalc/trig might come as a challenge but Scott is always very helpful and cares a lot about his students success. He has generous office hours and is more than willing to work with you to help you. Would take again.
Worst math teacher to take online. The posted problems assignments provide vague and misleading instructions. Then I go help in the Math Lab on the posted problems assignments and still fail because the methods were used differently. Don't take him for math if it is a weak subject for you. Had to drop the class to protect my GPA
He was really great at explaining everything. if we had questions he always answer them and had time to meet. he was really good about his lectures. He always told jokes. Very interesting class and would highly recommend him and would take his class again if I could
Scott is a fun teacher and not dry when teaching. He has lots of references to help learn the concepts. He also has created his own terminology for concepts that he calls Scottish. He is funny, but math is taken so serious that very few laugh at his many jokes.
Scott is a very nice person but I had a hard time following his lectures (probally will get better as he teaches stats more). He is willing to help durring office hours but even then you need to understand the material enough to be able to ask good questions. This means you need to have the time to read alot in order to be prepared for class.
Treated very unfairly, very condescending, accused me of cheating and called me into his office to threaten my grade even when I had proof of spending hours on end trying to solve a single equation that he accused me of cheating on. Avoid taking any of his classes at all cost
NOT a good teacher. He refuses to give any definite answers about problems that we are LITERALLY working on in class. If someone asks a question he says "umm, well yeah that's definitely one way to think of it, I might answer it like that too, but don't worry about that yet." And then marks everyone wrong on something he didn't say correctly.
I'm a couple of weeks out from wrapping up 201 Online. I've consistently been top of the class, and yet will likely only pull 3.8. Prof. Satake is a meticulous grader, and homework assignments can be overbearing, but overall he's fair and the class was well presented.
Stats is a tough subject but Scott did a great job at organizing the class and providing students with materials to succeed. If you are willing to put work in, study, and hang in there u will pass. Scott is also very willing to help during office hours! He's a great and caring teacher and much better then other stats professors from experience
Really nice guy but the majority of grading is based on tests. You can do every little bit of the homework and get 100% and it won't effect you grade. Everything Is about the tests. You can talk to him about improving and all he will say is that it's something you need to work on, extremely frustrating. If you're a great test taker, great teacher.
Very good professor but definitely makes you work for it. If u studdy a lot and read the book you will pass!
This was one of the worst online classes I've ever taken. He did not provide clear grading criteria for the handwritten work and proceeded to grade harshly when I used the BOOK's method, not his. If I can't use the book's method in an online class, better instructions need to be given!
Hes an amazing teacher. He makes math fun and helps you really understand the material.
Scott is my favorite
Scott is a nice guy and he really wants his students to do well. If you meet with him in person, he is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. I took his online course and at times it was tough to get responses via email. Probably 1/3 of the emails I sent him went unanswered. Take on ground course if math is a tough subject for you.
You will pass this class with an A if you truly do all the homework/practice assigned and if you get help when you don't understand things, weather it is coming to his office, or getting tutoring, He is very caring and understanding and the class was really fun!
Scott is a great teacher. Not only does he have his own math language "Scott-ish", but it's actually relevant and helpful. He's down to earth and approachable and is available after class. If you do the homework, show up for class and use him as a resource you'll be fine. Heavy on the quizzes, tests and hw but it actually ended up helping me.
Hes not a good teacher. Emails you back 3 weeks after you email him.
He doesn't care about your success, in fact seems to try to make you fail by wording things different from how it is in the book/mml and by helping you w/generic phrases(study more). PP assignments require 1 week of work, worth 20 points only and have no clear instructions or grading criteria. I still have no clue what I did wrong on most things.
He is an awful professor. His grading criteria is very unclear and harsh and it honestly seems like he doesn't care about his students success at all. It doesn't seem like he really understands statistics himself and the grading is heavy on the posted problems which are in addition to the MML homework that is due every other day. I took this online
Hands down the worst teacher I ever had, assignments provide vague and misleading instructions .He is never clear on his expectations.I always had A in math I have another degree his class was terrible
He is the worst teacher Ive ever had. If youre taking his class online good luck at getting an email back from him. He says please email me with any questions you have, well he doesnt email you back. Ive sent him more than 10 emails. He doesnt explain his hw well enough and gives everyone bad grades on it. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
I am taking Scott's Calculus 2 class and it is hard. His test are extremely long. Also, he seems pretty full of himself. I wish he would realize the class is about learning math, not about HIM!
He was a really good professor for a higher math class. He was helpful and really wanted his students to do well. I recommend him.
Scott is really a caring and sweet person, but I would not recommend taking his online class. The online class consists of watching hours of 10 year old videos that do not clearly explain the subject matter. Your grade is mostly based on test and quiz scores, so be prepared to do well on those fronts if you want to pass.
I took his online & inperson class, & I recommend coming in person-His online class is unorganized but he may have improved it since I took it in Fall2020. I ended up teaching the material to myself. He is a super nice person, though. The 4exams and 1final make up over 60% of your grade-if you are a good test taker then this class is for you.
scott is a really nice guy but somewhat of a disorganized teacher. there were many times I felt that I had to teach myself the content. he rarely graded things so we went half the quarter with not knowing if you're passing or not until the end of the quarter. towards the end he would start "threatening quizzes" which I find odd
I loved taking Scott's in person class as someone who really likes other extroverts- if you are not a people person then this may not be the class for you. His class honestly made me like math again, and he is both a very nice person and an amazing professor. if you are willing to actually do the work then you will do great in this class
I seriously loved Scott. He has been by far one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. The course is challenging for someone who struggles with math concepts, but Scott is always willing and ready to help you if you put in the effort. He is a goofy, fun-loving guy so if you don't like people like that you might not enjoy his teaching style.
Scott is a great professor. He is understanding on outside life things. That's why he has options for lectures. He is a tough grader though. He wants handwritten work submitted for every homework assignment even if it's done on my math lab. (He will give zeros if you don't have handwritten work). He jokes around more than teaching.
Scott is a great guy who is understanding towards students, but not so great at teaching. He often explains math concepts in a way he believes is simpler for students, using jargon he calls 'Scottish.' However, his informal approach only makes the lessons more confusing. He has good intentions, but his teaching style makes it harder to learn.
As a person, this teacher is great, but his class is a struggle. Hes nice, but theres no retakes, no xcr, and his hw is long. I felt like I understood everything, but would still get C's on half the tests. The exam grades will tank your gpa if you dont do well, + you can't turn in hw late. I wouldn't recommend if you get stressed out frequently.
Do not recomend thi professor! Hw assignments were often 4+ hours, there were multiple exams and quizzes that were a huge part of the overall class grade and they were hard! He allows no retakes and no extra credit. He has no grace and is not helpful when someone is struggling. Students including myself often had to teach ourselves.
Do not take this professor for higher-level math courses like precalc and calc!! It is extremely difficult to grasp concepts with his teaching style. He explains things in ways that make sense to him but it doesn't apply to everyone. There is a lot of homework. He is a great person but do not take him if you care about your gpa.
The class is hard, and you have to teach yourself rather than asking scott for help. He answers questions vaguely and in a way that makes most students more confused. If you don't understand he'll just tell you to watch the videos or ask more questions, even though he says he can help students. Hard to get a hold of and confusing expectations.
Scott is one of the best professors I've had. He is always willing to meet with you to help however he can. There is a lot of homework but it isn't too bad and completely necessary to grasp the concepts. I would definitely recommend his finite math class.
This class is completely doable if you put in the time and effort required. Yes, he'll tell you to watch the class videos or read the textbook before asking questions, because that's what you *should* be doing regardless. Scott is friendly, understanding, and approachable if you can show him that you care about succeeding in his class.
Great teacher, with great skills. Def recommend
Truly one of the best math professors I have ever had! Calc 1 was not an incredibly difficult class, but you have to be independent- and he makes that clear. It's really cool talking about math with him, you can tell he genuinely enjoys it. Be smart about your time spent on assignments/studying, and you will be good- coming from a bad test taker
