The challenge makes u want to strive harder

His methods of teaching are very unique.

Very intelligent,hip and really hot!

Has high expectations and can be ambiguous, but willing to help.

Hard, but definately explains what he wants. Makes you actually think...and his random tangents about Canada and crazy California work for me. As long as you don't like Disney, Keanu Reeves, or Friends, you're cool. Plus he's a sizzling piece of...prof.

great professor...i learned more in his class than I have all of my 4 years here as a psychology major!

He knows his stuff. He like class participation. Lets you hand in papers early to see if you are on the right track. Pay attention and speak up!!

class is insane..he teaches socialism likes it a good thing..if everyone was equal, there would be no reawrd for being better, therefore nothing would advance...come on schaeffer..socialism is disgusting

Awesome guy. Hard, but fair. Be willing to work, or don't bother. Nice eye candy too.

if you want an easy class, dont take this one..but if you want to learn and expand your knowledge on religion, take it...it was a very interesting class and schaffer is the man..very good prof..one of the best i've had yet

Int. and funny very good prof. is very full of himself though. Needs to remember he is not the only one thinking.

Pretty cool professor...rather pompous and egocentric. Lot of tuff reading and lots of writing. Important to ask lots of questions. His lectures are helpful when he's not admiring himself.

He's a cool guy. He likely relates with the students better than any other professor at MU. Reading, lots, but he lets U type your test answers and bring it to the test. No grades back yet so dunno about easiness. Basically, he's really interesting.

Expects a lot from his students, but is fair. Easy to understand and intellegent, also has plenty of funny stories for examples. This class is worth your time and effort. But you will ponder what he really has in his cup. Very easy on the eyes though.

He's a very intelligent man. Therefore, he has the right to be egotistical. Incase you didn't notice, it's all in good fun. He may praise himself in class but he does it all in jokes. You have to work in his classes but they are worth it.

Impossible to avoid if UR a SOC major. I wouldn't recc. taking him if U want an elective. Too much work involved, and you need 4+ books for each of his classes. He'll help U if U need it, but good luck understanding his jibber jabber. Two words: GOOD LUCK

Professor Schaffer is not an easy prof. You will definetly have to work in his class. But if you show you are trying you will be fine. If your taking his class just because you think he's hot, good luck...(even though he is ;))

Great Prof! I learned more in his class than I have any other. He really makes you think! Despite all the hard work and reading I'd take him again in a heart beat

great prof, really intelligent, but LOTS of work.. you will learn a lot- just be prepared to read and write all time

interesting course, interesting prof. however, the amount of reading was too much. take this course with an easier load, and skim read.

if you think he's hard, you shouldn't be in college. he is challenging and motivational. the work is worth it. can be slightly arrogant, but that is easy to disregard. don't miss this guy: old enough to know his stuff, young enough to rock.

Schaffer may be arrogant and full of himself at times but thats what makes him extreamly attractive.

Dr. Schaffer made sociology both fun and interesting to me. I loved his class, if you're scared of him... don't be... I know I was intimidated but I believe if every teacher was more like him MU would be a lot more awesome.

You'll work more in that class than all other classes combined for the semester but, you will learn equally as much...Take the class if planning on taking only 4 classes, not 5

This was probably the toughest class I've had so far at Millersville, but it was also one of my favorite classes. I didn't mind going to this class at all. Do your best and put a lot of effort in, he will notice.

He is a cool teacher, never boring. If you seek his help he will be there to give it to you and is great with grading farely

Give him a chance, you may not like him at first but he really is a great professor and you will learn a lot if you hang in there. He turned out to be one of my favorite professors so far but his class is really hard!

Dr. Schaffer is one of my favorite teachers so far at Millersville. He lets you prepare your midterms and bring in a cheat sheet to the test. If you try your best he'll recognize it. It pays off to take his class, it's motivational and thought provoking. Excellent.

Awsome prof. great class loved intro to soc. he makes you work but the satisfaction you get from the course is increadable. take him if you are ready to learn and not afraid to work.

I love Dr. Schaffer - we talk about the German idealists in class and it's really scintillating. I love talking to him before and after class. I highly recommend this professor over all other professors in the sociology department. (buy his amazing book!)

This class is difficult, but not as much as you think. If you do the work and try your best you cannot fail. He will not let you and it is impossible to not learn anything in this class. This is by far my favorite class and I think he is my soulmate. I love him. He is gorgeous.

One of the most engaging teachers I have ever encountered. Takes stuff you think you know a lot about and brings in a whole new perspective for you to look through. Your brain will hurt after any of his classes, but it is worth it for the knowledge you will gain. Schaffer is love

schaffer knows his stuff and he is eager about what he is teaching and wants everyone to learn something. I overall enjoyed his witty lectures.

Schaffer is very sarcastic, but a great professor. The first 2 classes scared the crap out of me, but after that I actually looked forward to going! Only tests are midterm & final- make sure you prepare- if you do they're cake. p.s.- he hates wal-mart and speak up in class!

Always willing to help, responds to e-mails within seconds. Speak up in class and always do your blackboard questions/answers it helps your grade. Tests are easy if you do the work and allows you to have an outline. Really sarcastic and hates Walmart. Do the work and you'll be fine! He's real cool!

Great prof. If you do not understand his class just ask a question. He is layed back from the formal class [thing] but on top of work at all times. Have fun take his class it will change your life.

If you are conservative, i.e. closed minded, you will do poorly. He reqires you to question your beiliefs what ever they may be and to think criticly. If you want an easy A and some one to confirm your appathy pick Fisher.

Schaffer is the best damn professor out there. Take this class and learn something instead of regurgitating what other professors teach you.

He is an amazing professor. Although his class is REDICULOUSLY hard, I have actually learned the material instead of memorizing it! I have never worked so hard for a B in my life, but you will be rewarded for working hard.

Terrific professor! Has a terrific knowledge of Sociology (is very smart), and he really cares a lot about his students. If you want a fantastic professor who inspires students to think and learn- then Schaffer is your man. Slackers beware- there is work involved in Schaffer's classes, but the knowledge gained is incredibly valuable!

didnt have him for class yet, but had him for 2 freshman honors discussion groups. FANTASTIC. young guy, progressive, wants to see you think. i get the feeling he loves watching how ppl's minds work. you can tell he loves his job. oh..and ladies, he aint too bad to look at either.

Dr.Schaffer, well, He is a really, really, awesome guy. Even though some nights at 3 in the morning when you are reading 100 pages you will be cursing him, he is still a cool dude. Work load is rough, but if you have an open mind, ask questions and go see him, you should be golden.

Don't be afraid...he's not that bad.

He's not gonna be teaching in Millersville anymore but if he ever comes back, take his classes. I waited 4 years to pick one of his classes and I wish I had done it sooner.

I wish he would come back!!! Yes, his classes were hard, he may be better suited to Graduate classes and he does expect A LOT from his students... but he will help you as much as he can. I learned so much from him as a Soc major. I hope he comes back before I graduate!

Schaffer is LOVE!! This guy is extremely hard, but if you want to learn and be a successful person, he will push you, make you cry, and maybe make you go a little insane. But, after you are done taking his classes you will walk into the next semester with a mindset that other classes are cake and other professors are sooo easy. AWESOME GUY!!!THANKS

He is a fantastic professor. Super funny and adorkable. He is always willing to help out and wants us to enjoy everything we are learning. I am very happy I ended up with him as my professor. He makes you want to come to class because every class he has us laughing. His tagline: #algebra
