Scott was totally awesome! We never stayed in close for the full 2 hours and 20 minutes. He grades very easy and very clearly. There are only 4 speeches, the last one u read, and one easy test! He made me love speech!!

he is a very funny teacher. out of 2 hours and 20 minutes, you stay only for 40 minutes in the class at most. He grades a little touch, but he is a nice teacher and class is really laid back.

Kind of a tough grader on speeches..overall hes a cool guy...easy class..1 easy test and 4 speeches..I would still recommed elwell...but Scott is a good choice also..

Great guy, Everyone in class is in same boat & will support you, not judge. He really doesn't grade hard, it's just that you lose pts if the outline is wrong & if you're too quiet, loud, fast, slow, fidgety, etc. I still hate speech & would never do it again if I didn't have to, but I still got an A. Highly recommend him, you'll have fun!

Very clear and lets you do speeches on almost any topic. Always available to help for those who want it. I would reccommend this teacher to any student who has to take this class.

Mr. Schuppan is a very funny teacher, he makes the class enjoyable, he's laid back, and always let's his students out early. He is a semi-tough grader, I had to work hard for my A. The class consists of 4 speeches (the last one you read) and a semi-hard test. He's a great guy, I'd recommend him to anyone taking speech.

I wish he taught more than Speech. He was a very easy teacher, but you still learned what you needed to. Made a great environment for a speech class. A lot of people are nervous giving speeches, and he created a very laidback environment which made it a lot easier on the students. He is very understanding if you are having trouble as well.

Wonderful teacher. Read the essays in the book and write the required papers. Fair teacher, and he is on your side. Great sense of humor. You have to take this required class anyway, so take it with this teacher.

He is a really kind guy. He makes you work for the grade you earn. He doesn't just give you a good grade for the heck of it. A few quizzes here and there. He is open-minded, funny, and has a very great personality overall! Take english with him and you WONT regret it as long as you show up and do the work! Oh and he will help you if you ask! : )

He's extremely nice as long as you actually go to class. He will take time out to help you with any of your papers and he grades pretty easy.

Great teacher. Took him for a night class, and he was totally understanding of my work situations, etc. Will give you the grade you earn. If you blow off the papers, you fail. If you make an effort and complete the assignments, you pass.

hes an awesome teacher......the best there is at COD..i jus had him for 1101 and he made the class so much fun..the class usually lasts 1:15 but max weve stayed is 35-40 mins...hes hilarious..and knows what to speak..pretty knowledegable and isnt picky like others ...he wants you to enjoy writing ...over all an awesome teacher..i loved his course!

This man is one of the best teachers ive ever had. he is extrememly helpful when it comes to writing papers. Hes also a very humorous guy. Class usually last about 45 minutes depending on the day and how much information he has to tell you. I would love to have him as a professor for another calss. Truely AMAZING man!!!

Ok, so maybe he isn't the hottest prof in his shorts and tees year-round. However, his sarcastic lecture style will appeal to those of us who are intelligent enough to understand. Dumb blondes be wary. His lectures are concise and to the point, much like how he likes you to write your essays. Recommended for those who want an A in a monotone class.

He is a great teacher. I would recomend him to everyone. His lectures are boring but he is very explicit on what he wants you to write on your papers. Easy grader. If you want a funny guy with attitude, this is your man. I'd take him again if he taught 1102.

He's a really funny guy. Very nice. I just don't feel like I learned much in this class. If you do the work you're sure to get an A. We didn't write more than 3 page papers. If you're pretty comfortable with writing then I would definitely recommend him!

Prof. Schuppan is great. I took his English 1101 8-week class in this summer. Actually, English is my second language, I was so nervous to write in English prior to attending this class. He is very nice, and always willing to help. If you are going to take English 1101, I recommand him to you.

I love Mr. Schuppan. I'm pretty sure i learned nothing from his class but he made me actually want to come to class. He's very sarcastic and will blowup if you ask stupid questions so as long as your not that kid who acts like a dumb*** in class i would definitely recommend him

When giving you your assignments, he starts outbroad, but makes them clearer as deadline approaches. hes a funny guy even when he gets mad he continues with sarcastic jokes. Good teacher, id recommend him....also first day of class, he brought up this site, saying he was kinda dissapointed to read that someone didnt like his shorts. haha

He's a nice guy. He's kinda random with stories, but sometimes his stories crack me up. He's funny. He's sarcastic. But not exactly helpful on paper writing. I sometimes zone out while he talks, and it seems like I didn't really learn anything new.

GOOD TEACHER. yes he talks about news & stuff but hes even told are class there's a reason behind it. I learned more about the world and WROTE more about things CURRENTLY going on than I have in any other class at COD. I learned a lot and he can teach you a lot if try. He won't baby you though and if you don't show up for class it's your own fault.

Scott Schuppan was one of the best professors I've ever had. He tried to make what we talked about in class interesting and relate to our everyday lives. Not a lot of coursework, which was nice. I didn't show up to a few classes due to personal problems and he was very understanding about it. Overall a wonderful person and enjoyable professor.

AWESOME TEACHER!! Just an all around good human being. Class is semi-educational. Workload is light. Classes consist of mostly discussions. And he is willing to work with you on due dates and attendance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great teacher- mainly discussions. Used the book 3 times. Works with everybody on late assignments. If english is not your major but you are required the class take him!

He's a tolerent teacher, class discussion are very much. He cares respect interactions between each one. 5 eassy duriing whole semester. He likes to help student with extra time with eassy writing and encourage them to learn new vacabulary. Grades more upon students' atten. and attitudes.

Scott says the a key to life is showing up and doing your job. He gave me the tools to create solid writing, which improved my overall communication. He tells you his expectations from day one. The biggest mistake teachers make is they dont define good writing. What he taught me i will use the rest of my life. Highly recommend, highly respect.

Mr. Schuppan was a great teacher for English Comp 2. As long as you attend class and take notes on what he's looking for in an assignment, you cannot go wrong. He is also very helpful when you have questions on an assignment. If you have questions or bring in a partially finished assignment, he will let you know what you should do next. Great guy.

Mr. Schuppan will not waste your time. His classes are clear and straight to the point, he does not believe in wasting your time or his. However, he is more than willing to assist you in every way possible. Helpful guy, easy grader, attend class and you will achieve.

One of the best professors I've taken while at COD. He's more than willing to work around your schedule and understands that sometimes life gets in the way. He can be very sarcastic and funny. He also encourages class participation and discussion. I STRONGLY recommend Professor Schuppan, you won't be disappointed!

Mr. Schuppan is a fantastic teacher. I took him for English 1101 and he ended up taking over my 1102 class, thankfully! He is clear with what he wants in an essay and doesn't waste time with endless peer reviews. He does go off topic sometimes. Towards the end of the semester he will make class optional on certain days. I definitely recommend him!

If you're looking to improve your writing, don't take him. If you're looking for a super easy A, take him. Very lenient about late paper submissions. Starts class 15 minutes late for kids showing up late, ends early 15 min early. Lectures are just hilarious anecdotes.. Again, didn't learn much, but class was barely a time commitment for an A.

He tells you exactly what he wants on papers. You don't have to show up to class all the time, as long as you get your papers in on time. He's really funny and understanding will help if you need it.

Really nice and funny! It's good to show up, he'll respect you and your work more. Very easy in that sometimes he would say we didn't need to show up some days, you could go though if you wanted feedbackhelp on a paper. I took this at the Westmont Center and it worked out just fine.

Professor Schuppan has taught me to love writing with a passion. Writing was one of my weakest points and I always dreaded essays. After taking his course, I have learned to improve my work compared to my whole high school career. He's pretty realoldschool when it comes to grading and doesn't go by the book like a stickler. Chill teacher. Always dismissed the class early. Extended the due dates for pretty much every assignment. I only went to class because he gave credit for attendance otherwise the lectures are pointless as long as you know whats goings on.

I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Schuppan! He's one of the best teachers I had so far! He really cares about his students and remembers what it's like to be one. Homework load isn't heavy and he's very understanding. He tells you everything he expects on papers, so just pay attention and you'll be fine. I really looked forward to his classes.

Professor Schuppan is probably the most hands off english teacher ever. He has about 8 or 9 assignments all semester and all are very vague and an easy answer. Gives great feedback on every assignment.

He is a jokey type of guy with a stale sense of humor and I love it. I'm actually taking his English 2 class next semester. Very laid back.

This is the easiest A you'll ever get. Scott is realistic, understanding, relatable, and he'll never BS you. He won't care if you never show up to a single class as long as you turn in your writing assignments. He is an incredibly easy grader. He's not gonna take off points for little mistakes, just put in at least 10% effort and you're good to go.

Mr. Schuppan's style of teaching goes as follows: Show up and listen to him banter about politics and things that annoy him, and then two minutes of English class. If you are looking to learn in a more traditional kind of class, DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Professor Schuppan is a great person. He has a great sense of humor. He is very easy going. But I would recommend him as a professor for students with a stressful schedule. Otherwise, a traditional professor would be more beneficial for students that want a challenge.

You show up, he rambles for about 30 minutes then assigns a reading or sometimes nothing at all and lets you go early. Papers you have to write are easy peasy. Seriously, just show up, sit through his ramblings and do the easiest papers you will write in your life and you get an A! Not much else to write about!

Read what others wrote and wonder what instructor they had. Have an opinion but, base it on fact. Bet some are mad about their grade, others just lying. Mr. Schuppan is not the toughest grader; he's fair and far from easy. He listens, expects effort, is helpful, but won't do the work for you. He treats you like an adult if you act like one.

Professor Schuppan was a very good teacher for an English class. He was willing to help you when you needed it and was a pretty lenient grader. He would offer feedback of what you could do to improve your writing which helped a lot. Thee is about 5 papers to do over the course of his class. Overall a pretty solid teacher and I would take him again.

If you have a busy class schedule, take Professor Schuppan. The workload is very manageable. He only assigns four to five papers per semester. Some of which are only a page long. He does not post grades or many announcements on Blackboard, so you need to show up to class to know the details of homework. He will let you out of class early sometimes.

He was the easiest and most straight forward class I have ever taken. He is very clear about what he wants and He is not very demanding. He would go through your rough draft and would accept late papers for full credit.

Workload is very manageable. Professor Schuppan only assigned 4 papers for the whole semester, and they only were a couple of pages each. Prof. Schuppan is understanding and has a unique sense of humor. The only downsides are that he doesn't post grades to Blackboard and his feedback can be vague. Really good guy, easy grader and makes a pretty boring class entertaining. Relates to students well and understands you probably want to be there just as much as he does. Would definitely say take this class.

Schuppan was my absolute favorite professor here at CoD. He gives a very clear criteria about the semester and gives great feedback. There are about 4-5 papers to write and they are pretty spaced out. I would HIGHLY recommend taking English 1101 or 1102 with professor Schuppan! He is very understanding and a funny guy!

Took the online course. He's very clear on what needs to be done right from the start. You do have to write papers for his class and he is a tough grader but I liked it because I was always bad with papers and his feedback would help me improve. He connects with his students and is always there if you need help. Really funny teacher and does care.

Took his English class every Saturday at 9AM he did not make it feel like it was a 9AM class. this professor is super understanding about your personal life. His class he was very sarcastic and I think it was funny. This class is very paper heavy. He grades pretty tough he gives back amazing feedback. I would recommend this professor to anybody.

Mr. Schuppan is a very entertaining teacher! Many of our lectures felt like casual group conversations where everyone was encouraged to contribute. We were only expected to complete five short essays with NO FINAL TEST so the load was very manageable! This was definitely a fun, low-pressure class!

Prof Schuppan is a very traditional English teacher. He's not a fan of all the new English rules (citing, MLA) lol Very lenient and considerate of our lives outside of school. Very involved during class, helpful, and very funny! Show up and participate and you will be just fine. Worth getting up on a Saturday morning and going to class.

Absolutely loved Professor Schuppan! He cares about his students, and understands we have a life outside of class. We only had three papers the whole semester, and that's all your graded on. He will always read your paper and give feedback before the due date, and give's helpful corrections. He's extremely funny and makes the class exciting!

Highly recommend Schuppan for English 1102, class almost always got out early, he won't waste your time. Many days throughout the semester were just work/conference days where you don't have to go in, but if you do you'll get great feedback. My only issue is he doesn't post grades on Blackboard so you don't know where you stand in the class.

Professor Schuppan talks more about his life and advice for students than he does about writing but it made the class enjoyable. He makes his expectations very clear and he is willing to review/edit and give feedback on your papers before you turn them in. Your grade is based on 4 papers and nothing else, which I really liked!

You are only graded by 4 papers, (2/4 are less than a page). Lots of time to work! Very clear expectations! Be respectful and give your attention, and he will appreciate you. You don't learn anything in lectures, he talks about his life and lets you go early. Many times class is optional. Be a good student, turn the work in and it will be easy.

I put the tag tough grader, but he wasnt unreasonable. We had three papers through the whole semester, two of them I got Bs on and one got a C, if you fix all the revisions he gives you he will bump the letter grade up by one. You can revise as many times as you want too. He is an overall great teacher who cares about your education.

Chill and Funny guy. If you can't take a joke, don't take his class. More of an old fashioned teacher. Pay attention to instructions given in class. Only assignments are 4 papers. First three are 2 - 4 pages and the final paper for me was an 8 - 10 page research paper. You could choose your own topic. overall a good professor.

Super easy class. There is just 4 papers that you are graded on. He tells you exactly how he wants them written and if you turn them in early he will literally tell you what to change to get 100%. He talks a lot about random stuff in that classes so you don't really need to show up.

A chill professor who keeps his classes engaging. Just focus on the 4 papers, follow his instructions, and you'll do great. Use unstuck ai and ChatGPT for study prep - they really help!

As long as you are a decent writer coming into the class, you shouldn't struggle at all. He doesnt care a lot about attendance and you are graded on 4 papers total. 3 essays and 1 final research paper. However if you are not a good writer already, Schuppan may not be for you, as the low amount of work leaves little room for improvement.

He's genuinely such a sweet guy! There's not a lot of homework at all: 3 writing assignments and 1 research paper. And attendance isn't mandatory. He's very clear on his grading criteria and is always open to help. I would definitely re-take him!

Prof.Schuppan can be summarized into one statement: Don't judge a book by its cover. cliche but accurate. He an old man that with really funny crashouts during class but he's still really hilarious in a morbid way and just a chill guy. Class is super easy with clear criteria. Highly recommend. Just don't BS the assignments. Make sure you try.

Take this prof! He doesn't really "teach" anything and it's kind of just silent work time. Confusing at first since he just hands you criteria. But I'd STRONGLY recommend periodically asking him to read your drafts during class (which he doesn't mind) because its VERY easy to misunderstand the prompt. Overall he's a great + hilarious guy!

Solid professor. He gives clear instructions. He doesn't mind if you are absent as long as you submit quality work. He wants the assignments printed out. He gives good feedback on your writing, and he is available to help you if you need it. He is also funny and an enjoyable guy. There are minimal assignments so make sure to submit your best work.
