Dr. Shepard was a fantastic teacher...it's too bad he can't teach all of my classes. His diverse teaching methods and topics allowed me to view society from an individualistic standpoint rather than from a stereotypical, typecasting,uninformed perspective 'we' all seem to have about each other.

If you want to learn about Middle East this is the class to take. I learned about English more in ESOL class than in his. He likes to talk about politics. He likes when students think the way he thinks. I felt pressure regarding politics and Middle East. He gives you watch movies that you cannot rent. But I think he is easy on grading.

This is the third class I take with him and make all A's. He is very easy. His class is fun and you will enjoy it. He likes to talk about Asia and the Middle East. His class is a breeze for me. Easy.

I took his class in winter term. Its not that bad, he let us out really early. We did not had to buy any books, he gave us PDF files which saves money. We had 3 major essays, so you do have to put effort on that because those are big grades and can make you have an A in his class or not. He's not the best, but i liked him. He's not super hard.

A lot of work. 4 books, 3 essays (about 4 pages), 1 presentation, 3 or 4 research papers (hated them, sometimes end up longer than the essays when finished) and a lot of quizzes and response papers. Each essay make up 25% of the final grade. The rest make up the other 25%. If you do bad, just talk to him and he will help you. Nonetheless, got an A.

Well, I don't know what to say about him, but he may be the best teacher in my English class. He is pretty tough, but if you try to show him your essay more than 2 times, you will be good. 3 essays, lots of response paper, 1 presentation, no textbook. He will let the class leave soon, but he always be in his office if you need help.

He assigns 3 essays & a few Free Response assignments, no tests or quizzes. The material is over videos, movies, or articles, there is no text book. There is no final, the 3rd essay counts as your final. I would recommend him if you just need the ENGL 1301 or 1302 credit. If your major involves writing or literature, pick a different Professor.

Dr. Shepard is truly knowledgeable about American Literature. There were several mini essays in class as well at home plus midterm and final essays. He is not a tough grader; however, the more you write and answer correctly from his questions, the better you get higher grade. If English is your native language, then you should get an A+ easily.

He is been one of the best English teachers I've had. He is a tough grader but it will help you in the long run. He is such a good teacher and his classes fill up pretty quick.

Easy Professor

This is one of the easiest English classes I have taken so far only because of him. He is very nice as a person, but the main problem is in grading. You will have very few chances to improve your grades, which is not very helpful.
