Great instructor. Very entertaining. Recommend
Pretty funny guy. Likes pirates in CAL 3, arrr-d-arrr d-theta.
Great guy. Very helpful, friendly, and personable.
Great teacher, very entertaining, good at explaining concepts. Will show you how much energy you need to fill your space vehicle.
Smith is funny. He took some getting used to. Overall, he taught the class effectively. Very into "concepts" rather than the concrete.
Very Good prof. I'd take him again in a heartbeat. He relays concepts very well, but has trouble explaining some things at the simplest level sometimes. Nothing to worry about, more of a product of having students in class that should be in a prep class instead. Funny guy, keeps math interesting and grades fairly. No homework, 5 tests & a final.
A fair math teacher who made math interesting.
he repeats himself too much.
His class his harder than most, but he is good enough teacher so you will pass. If you wanna learn, then take his class. He is a funny guy too.
I went to class barely and didn't do much of the homework and still smoked this class. Tests are very easy.
This dude is so hotting HOT! I think he might be gay!
This guy was a great teacher. He's funny and makes algebra interesting.
Amazing instructor. He is extremely helpful and is very personable. I have had him for all these classes and he has always been funny and helpful. Very forgiving with take home quiz dates and is always open to help.
I really get tired of his poor grammar. He says "ain't" all the time--like a hick. I thought college professors were supposed to be educated.
Good Teacher
These are hard courses, but he makes the best of it. If ya put the time and effort into his class you will do fine. He's fun and makes math a lil interesting
excellant funny
He's just a little corky, laughs at his own jokes, but is a really great teacher! Class isnt mandatory but its good to be there!
The BEST math teacher I have ever had. I am a horrible math student. His ways of explaining are amazing. He is funny and willing to listen and help. I would reccommend him for any math course.
I loved this teacher! He was fun and very helpful. He goes over everyones questions in class untill everyone gets it. I actually looked forward to going to class. I would highly recomend him.
Mr. Smith is the best teacher I have ever had. Calc 2 is considered by many to be the most difficult class at the school (since it is a community college). He makes it fun, explains everything to the letter. Even explains the algebra thouroughly as he works the problems on the board. He is fair with homework and tests. He is funny too! Love him!!!!
Very helpful. Made hard lessons simple.
Professor Scott is a funny person, but it is hard to keep up with him, he shops around too much. He gives lots of notes, which is good. The onlt thing that counts as a grade are in class quizzes, take home quizzes and exams. HW is not graded, but he will go over any question from HW. I do not recommend him.
Best professor I have ever had
HE IS NOT VERY HELPFULL WHEN IT COMES TO ANSWERING QUESTIONS. SOMETIMES HE SEEMS TO BE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT HE IS TEACHING. HARD TO FIND HIM IN HIS OFFICE AND HIS GRADE IS BASED ON TEST AND QUIZES ONLY YOU HAVE NO OTHER HELP HE DOSENT EVEN CARE IF HIS STUDENTS DO THEIR HOMEWORK.
Mr. Smith is a great instructor. He really cares about the students and will do his best to help you understand. he doesn't care if you go to class..just don't miss the quizes or test. take him you won't regret
if u are not excellent in math and cannot teach yourself a few things, DON'T take him. Your grade is based on quiz's and tests which is fine if you have a prof who can make sense of what he is teaching and not seem lost at trying to make a problem for the class.
Great teacher. Teaches you the basics and then ask you what you had a hard time with in homework so you can get deeper into the subject. Very guy, real nice, great teacher and cares about those who try.
If you are looking for an easy A, then I do not recommend this instructor because his tests can be difficult and he is very tricky on his tests. On the contrary, he is light-hearted and funny and makes plenty of math jokes. He is tough because he expects a lot from you, especially at the calculus level. Overall, I have enjoyed his class.
funny, very helpful, made calculus very simple
Best Math teacher at CFCC. Take him. No discussion about it. The BEST.
He goes off on strange tangents, and is completely unorganized within chapters.
He's a nice guy with a good sense of humor and tries to make class as fun as possible. However, he always seems unprepared and disorganized which makes his lectures confusing at times. Still, he is very helpful and is well liked by most of his students.
He has a good sense of humor, he tries to make the class as fun as possible and he is very helpful. His tests can be hard and tricky but most of the time he models his test off the take home quizzes and practice problems, if you do those; then you should do alright on his in class test. I recommend him.
Very interesting sense of humor. He sometimes comes off as rude or incompatent towards students. He definately knows what he's doing when it comes teaching college alegbra. he explains it very clearly and concisely. but he is a liitle "cucu" in the brain though. if your not good at math i WOULDN'T reccomend him.
Even though a lot of students like him, I personally didn't care for his style of teaching. He doesn't make eye contact with the class, scratches his head a lot, swears a lot in class, and was always late. He's disorganized, unprepared, and just a weird dude in general. His quizzes and tests are nothing like the homework. I wouldn't recommend him.
Even though you are bad at math, you can get A if you just study hard!! He is so nice, and thoughtalbe. He is very smart and I think you do not need to worry a lot about taking his class!
This class was ok, but it just seemed a little disorganized at times. I'm glad I'm good at math cause if not I probably would have been totally lost. Mr. Smith was nice & pretty funny but man he was everywhere, easy to get confused by him.
I took his class in summer 1 week after I arrived at America. Even though I don?t understand English, he was always helpful and trying to make me understand. His way to teach is funny. All tests were so easy.
Just a great professor!
I've never been really good at math but I got an A in his class. He's an Awesome teacher! He made it so easy for me to learn. Some people still had a hard time in his class but I think he rocked!! Go professor Smith! :)
He's a good teacher. His tests are pretty much the practice quizzes given. He pauses alot and is a bit disorganized which threw me off alot.
Doesnt allow questions and expects you to know everything. All work is on MathLab and there were no computers in room but doesnt allow laptops during class to follow along in MathLab program. Has made more than one girl in the class cry by belittling. Very disorganized and jumps from topic to the next and back. No Good!
great teacher
Friendly, funny Prof., If you haven't taken Int.Alg in awhile, then either brush up or take a different prof, because he does not hold hands to bring you to the level you should be before taking MAC1105. Test can be rough but doable. Really will need to put in the study time to pass this class! No extra credit or curves on grading.
He is a very unorganized teacher. He expects respect from his students but does not give it in return. He has made students cry in his class. He shows but late for class everyday, but if you have to leave early he wants to know why.If you are not good at algebra I would not recommend him. He does give you a review for the final and that does help.
Best math teacher i've ever had. Can explain the most complex concepts in simple and understandable terms. Highly recommend him as an instructor.
Scott is a very animated professor and is passionate about his subject (which is more than can be said for other instructor's). This guy can make even the most complex High order de seem easy. he is somewhat disorganized but as long as he can breakdown complexity into simplicity it doesn't really mater how organized he is. I recommend him.
Very good professor. Intimidating at first but DON'T DROP. available during office hours and will go into detail during class. Animated and friendly. Genuinely enjoys subject and cares about his students. Make sure to do homework ON TIME. Highly recommend this teacher.
Mr. Smith is hands down the best Math instructor on campus. His tests are SUPER fair, and homework is not required, but still recommended. He literally doesn't use the textbook at all, because he always uses his own shortcuts instead. He makes Calculus seem easier than College Algebra. If you want to truly learn math, take Mr. Smith.
Mr. Smith is a great teacher. He made math so easy to understand. If i hadnt missed like 2 weeks worth of class attendance and missed a quiz, I probably would have made an A. He's very humorous and his tests aren't very hard but you have to know what you're doing. Just go to class and do homework!! There's no extra credit. Amazing math experience.
Mr. Smith is an amazing professor. If you want to learn and care about your class work, you can make an A. More importantly, Mr. Smith makes learning easy and he cares about his students. He has a great personality and makes it a fun and successful college experience.
As a constantly late/absent student not interested in so much as to what the instructors have to say, I learned a lot this semester...and the last semester I also spent with him. Listen to lectures, he will tell you what needs to be studied to do well. If I were better at attending my classes, I would not have struggled to reach my B like I did.
Professor Smith is a great instructor who has a passion for teaching. He is not an easy "A". Another words you get out of his class what you put into it. I would recommend him to anyone who needs college algebra.
Extremely fair professor. He outlines for you in his sylabus what the homework will be, when the tests and quizzes will be, and if you're ahead or behind the projected outline. I took him for Calc 2, he gives quizzes, take home quizzes, and tests; as opposed to 3 or 4 tests for the whole term. Better know your Calc 1 though. No catching up here.
I really like this professor and will be taking him again for higher math. I found his lectures to be easy to understand and he is there for you all the way! He has a fun personality and I can honestly say that he made math my favorite subject during my semester. You should take him! If you study and reach out to him for help you will get an A!
Pay attention to the lectures and you will earn an easy A. I went the entire year without attempting the homework and i paid the price by receiving a B. Best teacher at CF.
Smith is awesome! He makes learning calculus easy, pay attention in class, this is where the test come from, fair, but you must work for it. Took him for Calc 1 though 3, great teacher, super smart.
His lectures make really difficult concepts, much easier to understand. Homework is not graded but the problems he assigns are great practice that help you learn the material and do well on test. He is great if you need help, he is always willing to help with homework or anything you don't understand. He is very dedicated to helping his students.
The lectures were easy to understand and he brings up intermediate algebra topics for quick refreshers. The homework only counted towards your grade if the final score helped your total grade. Sometimes his teaching strayed from book's instructions. Overall I loved the class. His enthusiasm for math made the lectures fun.
Pretty decent professor, he swears at the math which is funny and sometimes he goes off on tangents but I found it pretty easy to follow. He cuts you some slack at the end of the course if you've been a studious student and he's not too hard to understand during lectures. Quizzes are different from the online hw but he tells you what's on tests.
Best math teacher I've ever had. He explains things that make it understandable to real life. Easy to understand with multiple opportunities to succeed. If you have to option to take his class, do it.
Had him for College Algebra and breezed through it. Great lectures and is hilarious during class! Show up and actually study for the tests. You will easily pass if you try.
Math has never been a good subject for me, but Mr. Smith made calculus easy to understand!! He is funny and awesome with his lectures. I would take him again for another math class, highly recommend!!
Professor Smith is amazing and helped me so much with math! I took professor Hunt in the spring and had to withdraw from his class because I was failing, with professor Smith I finished with an A. He's just a great teacher!
I'm in the middle of the semester with Mr. Smith. He's alright. He can get really angry if he doesn't think you're paying attention. If math isn't your strong suit he is a WONDERFUL teacher. If you passed high school precalculus, you will be sitting in this class bored out of your mind. Currently we're 3/5 of the way through and on basic parabolas.
I took Calc 1 at UCF this semester, not with Smith. I took Smith for College Algebra but passed Calc 1 with a B because I watched his YouTube. (RS Smith) I got an A in his College Algebra class because he is one hell of a teacher. He knows everything about math and was my savior for Calc 1 with my bad professor. Using his videos for Calc 2 now!
An excellent math teacher. Breaks down concepts simply in a hard subject. He is an easy going teacher. He goes over the problems that he has on quizzes in class, so as long as you understand them, you should do well on tests. Would definitely take his classes again.
I took this course alongside Chem 1 in 6 weeks. (Summer A) This is Differential Equations, so don't expect to fly through it with an A. Very lecture focused and gives thorough explanations to solving even the highest level D.E. Study for exams and actually do the practice problems he assigns. Hard to get an A, but a B is very attainable. Great guy!
Honestly a great professor, but a bit of an odd and impersonal character. However, I'm not sure you'll find a better professor for mathematics within a few hours. If you're unlucky enough to end up on his bad side, you've definitely lost out on a good opportunity to learn.
Incredibly fair professor. He is great at making the math easy to understand and he goes over the types of questions that will be on the tests. The way he teaches the class basically sets you up for success. He also makes the class kinda fun because of his jokes. All around he's a great professor. If you are considering taking his class, do it.
Smith is a great calc teacher. He is always willing to re-explain and answer any questions. He makes sure there is class time to ask him any questions we have. He does not post any lectures on CANVAS so you should always go to class. great prof, I plan to take again.
If you don't like swearing don't take him. If you are acceptable of swearing, then take him. I had him for Cal1, Cal2, and DifEq. Great teacher, helpful, encouraging, funny and serious when he needs to be. I highly recommend.
Okay. This teacher reminds me of the man from the movie Split. He talks to himself, mumbles, and is everywhere. He will try to teach two or three sections in one class setting. I had to withdraw from his class because I cant learn like that. It was so frustrating and I would NOT recommend him at all.
Smith's classes are so much fun for being a math class, and this comes from someone who hates math! He makes learning fun and easy. I was so scared taking a summer B class but he made it so easy to follow along! Best math teacher I've ever had in my life!
HE'S OKAY. EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND THROWS SOME JOKES ONCE IN A WHILE.
this is my second time taking his class. incredible teacher, makes difficult topics easy to understand. having the textbook to be able to study and practice from is key. he will choose some q's from the book to review in class, these q's are usually similar to ones on test. 100% recommend taking
Scott Smith is the best teacher ever. His teaching style is so simple and to the point, He explains everything throughly and answers questions. I have taken College Algebra, Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 with him. Mr. Smith has a YouTube Chanel with all his courses that helped me a lot, the channel is Rs Smith.
Professor Smith really is a great teacher. Really cares about if his students are understanding the material. Cares that you work hard in class and pay attention. Is willing to go over specific problems is you ask him from the homework. If you work to understand the math and are attentive in his lectures, there is no reason you can't get an A.
Professor Smith is a great teacher and cares about his students. As long as you do the practice exams before you take the real exam you will definitely succeed! Most work is completed on Pearson but he helps you out a lot.
He is a good professor. Do your work and there is no way you will fail. He will help if you ask.
I have taken Mr. Smith for majority of my math classes at CF, & he is a great professor here. He's great at teaching the material & always makes jokes around the maths which is always great. I've learned a lot from him & thank him for teaching me over these years. I 110% suggest him. One of the best teachers out there, especially for math category!
Scott is ok, he wasn't my favorite but his lectures were long and boring. He also gave me the heebiejeebies with the way he talked. The homework was annoying but he did explain what you want explained. Just stay on top of your work and you will do good. Also, attendance isn't really mandatory.
Professor Smith is amazing. He was so straight forward with what you should study and practice, I was never confused. He's very clear and concise in his lectures and he was pretty funny. I would definitely recommend. Calculus 2/3 were made way less difficult to understand because of him.
His class is easy if you do all the homework and if you attend his lectures I would take him again! I learned a lot just by listening and doing homework that was due every week!
Professor Smith was amazing! As someone who has always struggled with math, Professor Smith's lecture and homework videos were the key to me passing. Take advantage of the unlimited attempts on homework and multiple attempts on quizzes. Professor Smith has extra points built into the course and replaces the lowest exam grade w/ the final if higher.
He's an amazing professor and teaches very clearly. He is incredibly passionate about what he teaches us. All his assignments were online. The class is homework heavy and there's a test every chapter. Overall amazing and would take him again.
such a good teacher. he is super funny. but there is a lot of homework and tests. the class is recorded so if you need to miss a day you can go back and watch it clearly. no extra credit. the site you utilze for homework sucks.
Mr. Smith was amazing. He makes math easy to understand. If you are not able to attend class, he allows to you join on zoom or watch the recording later. His classes are pretty test heavy, but he is very willing to help if you need anything.
I took his course a while ago and now i'm at UCF and I owe my AA to this man. He helped me with college algebra and even stats which was another course i was taking with a diff teacher at the time who sucked. I miss having him as a professor and wish I could have him for calculus now. He is so helpful in office hours and never made me feel dumb.
He explains coursework very clearly and the homework is very easy as well as quiz and test
Really recommend this professor. Class takes a lot of work (at least if you're like me and know nothing about math) but is so straight forward. You do the homework as many times as needed and the test is the exact same thing. The videos from Prof. Smith were very good and helpful, he's pretty funny and engaging in his lectures. Definitely recommend
Highly recommend this professor. Really funny and engaging lectures. I took the online course. Class is super straight forward, I'm but at math but got an A. The Pearson homework assignments can be taken as many times as you want and then the tests are basically identical. If you study the homework assignments you can't fail.
Smith is good at explaining things and he knows what he's talking about. This was a flipped class so we would watch lectures at home then do work in class. This doesn't really work for me since I need someone in person explaining it, hence the C. He's a little goofy so it makes class bearable. Just watch the lectures and take notes, you'll be fine.
I took Professor Smith online, he was super lenient with due dates. The coursework was pretty easy and not too much to handle.
Mr. Smith made college algebra for me easy to understand and fun. If you're not the best at math and could use help to make it more engaging, then he is the best professor for the job. Wish he taught Precalculus/Trigonometry.
I got a 100% in the final, that's all I'm going to say. He does lectures online and homework in class. Tests are relatively similar to practice tests, so definitely do those. It's all tests and homework/quizzes.
Professor Smith was a really great professor. I haven't taken a math class in 15 years and jumped both feet into college algebra but he explained things in a way I could grasp with humor and light heartedness. I would recommend him to anyone.
