He's an awesome teacher and you'll love his Boston accent. His tests are ok as long as you read your notes and the chapters he tells you to. The class is not boring and he keeps you up if you do knock out. Other then that he's very down to earth and makes class intresting.

Had him as a sub for the start of soc of law. Great teacher. He makes kimmelman look stupid in the knowledge of the subject. Wish i had him all semester. Never thought of cutting class, he is a pleasure to listen. Take his courses.

This is his first semester teaching this course and he's doing gr8. His first exam was hard, but he listened to his students and made the next 1 much easier. He's a very fair grader and makes himself available to students. Very helpful and understanding. He makes the class very interesting.

i had an easy time in his class because he was easy to understand with his boston accent. Tests were fair if you did your work. and lets not forget that it is very easy to pay attention to him because he is so nice to look at!!!!!!!

He's a GREAT teacher. It should be a pretty easy A. But you do have to study for his exams, cuz sometimes they're a lil tricky. He tries to make jokes all the time to make class go by faster

Soares may not be the greatest teacher, but he's very entertaining and gives fun lectures. He's interesting to listen to and lets you out of class early a lot. The tests are a bit difficult, but he curves them. You have to visit court to write a 1000 word paper, it may seem like a pain but it's very interesting. Good class. Take it.

Soares is a great teacher...he's totally well-versed and experienced in this field. Gets down to the nitty-gritty about juvenile delinquency & makes it an enjoyable and interesting topic. His tests are a bit tricky, so make sure you read the book. Overall, a great experience! :)

Who better to teach a crash, 2-week, intensified SOC course than Soares. Albeit there was TONS of reading involved, a paper, and a pretty difficult final, he somehow managed to not only keep all of us entertained for 4 straight hours, but also surprisingly interested in the topic. Strongly recommended!

class is always interesting. he really knows his stuff, but his lectures and the readings don't always reflect the material on the tests. he feels eveything he says in class is up for grabs even if it is said in passing. must do the readings or you'll be lost. class participation is important too. tests are tricky and he doesn't curve.

Absolutely Fabulous! I never knew that talking about the Boulevard of Death could by so SEXY! AHHHHHHHHHH! Seriously, Prof.S is terrific! Approachable, extremely straightforward and I loved coming to class. Don't slack off on the reading and take notes!

The best prof. I've had!! You have to def. read the chapters in order to pass his class but he knows how to make the class interesting and makes you want to go home and read. I dono about anyone else, but he was horrible in the summer. Maybe cuz he just retired from being a cop and doesn't care anymore, but he barely lectured, came in 30 mins late everyday, and gave DIFFICULT exams. Prof. Soares is a GREAT professor.He makes class interesting and fun.His tests are multiple choice and are challenging, but, HELLO, this is college, not elementary school. NOt every teacher is going to spoon-feed you. He is very knowledgeable & shares his experiences in his classes. If you do the work, you'll get the result you're looking for.

His test are impossible...most likely you will fail them, no matter how well you usually do on exams. The class is fun though, except for those days you get your tests back.

I loved Criminal Justice and the professor so much I dropped out of one of my favorite classes to take him for Juvenile Delinquency. He makes the material intersting the class isnt hard and the paper assignment i enjoyed doing and i hate writing papers. I tell all my friends to take him and no one has complained yet.

He is amazing. You have to be dementented to fail any of his exams. He is funny, attrractive and smart. He does go off topic sometimes but I LOVE him. Its one of those classes where you don't realize how much you are learning because you are having so much fun. Do the reading and get an A. And LADIES like I said before he is easy on the eyes!!

I think he's a great professor. His thought of teaching is that he wants to get everyone to like Sociology and become that major so he tries to make it fun for us. True, his tests arent too easy but that's because most of the people don't read the text! If you read the chapters you'll defintely get at lowest a B

mandatory that you come to class. he's a nice guy but gives pretty hard tests. make sure to read the material atleast twice over so you will know what he is talking about for the tests and in class. there is no hw, just one paper due at the final. he is fair when it comes to listening to excuses for missing tests or class. he is very nice tho. Professor Soares is a cool guy. His classes are fun to attend and attendance is mandatory if you want to get an A. His exams are a little weird since the wording can be tricky.Pay attention to what he writes on the board and remember it and also remember how he says things in class. DO ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS THAT HE GIVES,TAKE GOOD NOTES,YOU'LL BE OK

Prof Soares was one of my favorite teacheers. He was interesting and very respectable. I felt he really cared about us learning about criminal justice and his job and as PO in Bronx, NY at the time, hope he is still there and well. you must read the textbook. does not give clear notes but it's an easy class and entertaining. he will always be 15min late if you have him in the morning. guaranteed! all multiple choice tests but tricky.

I took him during the winter session and I enjoyed the class. He is knowledgeable of his subject. There are 3 multiple choice exams but the exams are tricky and you have to read the text in order to pass the exams. Definetely recommend this professor.

His class was great,def not my easiest class.Read textbook well bc tests are tricky,you really need to know the material inside out to do well on them. But if you do all your other work well, attend and participate, you'll get a higher grade-but def not easy A class. He was great though-I learned so much-def recommend. Also really entertaining.

Professor Soares made criminal justice so interesting & fun! He lectures most of the time so the class goes by quickly and he plays movies every class. I should have gotten a D, but he gave me a B+ :) He's funny, kind, & extremely passionate about criminal justice. I definitely recommend this class! You'll learn a lot!!!

I took him for sociology of the police. Love him! taking him again. He does go on range being that he's an ex cop but is HILARIOUS! he does video rarely use the text in class. Exams were ok a bit annoying bc it was the same question just phrased differently &repeated. I either over studied or didn't study enough. He makes the class not boring.

He's funny and plays videos in class but material on the test is not always covered in class (especially in soc of law)... makes you think outside the box and he believes sociology with psychology majors are double agents lol

I took Professor Soares for 247 and 217 back to back---best thing I ever did. Some people freaked out by the fact that we never got a syllabus, but if you stop complaining and start paying attention, you get SO much out of the class. He made his classes interesting, real, and applicable. He is a very intellectual and funny man. take his classes!

I took Professor Soares for crime and juvenile delinquency and i loved that class.He likes to get the students perspective in his classes .He just gives 2 tests and a final which arent bad at all if u read the chapters in the txt book. The last thing you have to do is do a 5pg paper on a court visit. Take him he's a great professor :)

The definition of an easy A. One of the tests got cancelled simply because he forgot to make it. Requires you to go to court to write an essay at the end of the semester, which is fine as long as you don't get stabbed there. Recommended.

Very good teacher, funny and interesting. I recommend anyone to take his class as it is interesting and class discussions are fun. Had him early in the morning and always came to class because i liked his class. this professor will change your perspective on many things in life and he will help you to think more critically and logical, but yet open minded. He made us look at both sides of the story instead of judging from one end. This is one of those classes that will change the way you think about your society. Amazing class and hilarious professor.

i love this prof, he is an ex cop so he knows alot about what he teaches! Also, please be reminded that your house doesn't get robbed, let him explain that to you. The guy is honestly so funny, he has a new york 'seinfeld' sense of humor. Great professor.

Professor Soares is hilarious. He was an ex-cop so he knows what he's talking about. Does not give exams back. Take notes. The book is inexpensive and necessary to pass. Participation is good, that way he knows who you are. If he knows you , he will give you a good grade. Try your best to participate. Exams are all based on the book and readings.

As a 7 45 AM class, he was always bizarrely late, but he woke you up with his corny jokes. VERY EASY GOING. Final exam ended up being a follow up on a court visit you were asked to do. Yes, he may seem all over the place, but it's an easy class.

This class is so basic-Just do the homework and answer the discussion questions and you'll do great. Only annoying thing is that he does provide any feedback till the end of the semester. You'll still probably do well

Took soc of law class with him for the summer session and would definitely take him again. He doesnt give feedback but he is very straight forward with what he wants and expects you to do. I learned so much from him in such a short period of time. Definitely worth taking this class with him.

Would take again, took the 4 week session with him and loved how he put together all of his material. Topics where very interesting and you learn a lot. Just do your work and do the discussion boards and you'll do fine.

I have taken Professor Soares for 3 classes already this is my fourth and final senior class. He understands the law very well. He gives you writing assignments every week they are about 12 assignments. Take him hes a good professor and very flexible . The material is very interesting you will enjoy it. He doesnt give you back your grades .

Not hearing from him can be unnerving but as long as you get all your assignments in, you'll get an A. He takes late work which is generous of him. No exams, just writing assignments and discussion boards.

Super easy class. Asynchronous format, 12 writing assignments, 5 discussion board posts based on textbook. Very easy, highly recommend

Most of the writing assignments, which comprised the majority of the grades in the class, were very straightforward and based on what we read in the textbook. The only issue I had was accessibility; he doesn't rlly respond to emails/messages. Overall easy A and gives you a chance to make up work.

A great professor who takes into account the lives of his students. I learned a lot without feeling overwhelmed in this course.
