He's really good about explaining things, and making sure Everyone understands what he's saying. Best teacher I have ever met. He's very fair, and teaches you a lot about life. Cool teacher!
He mad me want to be a math major. I owe all of my new found math confidence to him. If you have to take math Storla is where it's at.
This guy has been teaching for so long that he feels that you should know trig as well as he does. He has failed half of his class so far and only latches onto to the top 5 students who have A's. Unfair for a community college setting.
Nutcase. This guy is very hard, isnt clear. Heard he changed after he got tenured. Careless, he also gatekeeps. Lectures everyone and scares them about the class instead of making you feel confident. Loves scare tactics, tests are horrendous. I guess he's ok with A+ students, he teaches them.
He is a good teacher. He walks around to all students and helps those who are stuck and tends not to move on until the whole class has a basic understanding.
Great teacher. Very helpful. Highly recommend him for Math.
super nice
Scott is a hard, but very helpful teacher. If you do the homework and study, you will probably do very well in his class. His tests are hard, but they are very similiar to the problems he covers in class. He often gives you grade updates (which hardly any teachers do). Overall, a cool and nice guy
Without him, there would be no graduation for me - I have heard numerous great reputations of him, and I had to wait for one semester just to take his class - it was worthwhile. I passed math with B and I can't thank him enough.
Great Teacher
beat math teacher ive ever had wish he taught math 80 when i needed to take it
I enjoyed taking trig from Storla. He was thorough and taught the class very well. He was tough and many people failed the course, but those who studied and came to class passed just fine. He made trig very interesting with profs, identities and other enrichment.
Good teacher
Great teacher funny stories
ONE OF THE BEST MATH PROF. VERY HELPFUL, VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, AND MAKES MATH INTRESTING. LOVE HIM TO DAETH
Best math teacher I've had, great advice on learning and succeeding at math, explanations were clear and easy to understand. Take him if you can.
He is the greatest instructor ever. He realy takes timew to figure out how your are thinking so he can try and help you. If I could take him for every subject, I would. Math is hard, but he is very helpful.
He is one of the best professors in the in the college. I learn a lot from him. he has alot of patience and know the subject very well. take a chance to learn from him and to have fun. dont forget u have to work hard to get an "A".
Great prof. with great jokes. He was very Helpful to all students! and very encouraging to his students. GREAT semester with you prof! Thumbs-UP!!
Scott is the funniest teacher he always cracks me up I will keep taking classes with him.
Took in summer so alot to cram in in two months but Scott did a great job teaching in a way that made concepts easy to understand. I avoided reading the confusing text book on the things he taught in class. If it's your first trip back to algebra after a long break, Scott is the one you need to take it from.
Love him!!!! very helpful, smart, very clear with all of the assignments. make sure to do all the quizes and study ur homeworks and the quizes u'll get a good grade. he'll give his time to help u.
Scott Storla is awesome! He's so funny and takes the time to listen to what you are asking of him. I have always had a mediocre interest in math but his class made me really dig it. He speaks a lot about the psychology of math and this lets me know he seriously is trying to understand his students. A very kind and fair professor.
Scott was very helpful in clarifying what was difficult to understand in the textbook. However, he is a former U of M professor/teaching assistant and taught in such a way that made the math majors in the class feel challenged while the rest of of the class who was completing their last math requirement, shuttered in pure fear. The class started
great teacher very passionate! I like math now because of him
My brain isn't wired for math, but Storla was able to explain things in a way that really made everything click. Finally have confidence in my math skills again.
Great professor. He is helpful and really funny
Scott is somebody who knows what he is talking about but he cant explain it to anybody other than himself. I would never take another class from him. I think its time he went back and learned how to teach a class.
Scott is really knowledgeable in the subject, but the class went really fast, so it was difficult to catch up once behind. His arithmatic completely sucks, and students constantly correct him for simple mistakes. Thankfully on tests, he gives partical credit on answers. He was much funnier in math 70.
I really enjoyed this class, and found it super easy to get an A. I had always hated math before, but Scott really changed my mind about the subject. That being said, I'm not sure how much I would've liked him if I had found the work hard.
Good math teacher. Fair and Balanced, more so than Fox.
This guy is great! He uses some fun historical references and contemporary models.
He is the best professor at MCTC. I wish I could have him in all my classes. He is great at explaining. I loved going to his class it was the best part of my day. I'm really missing him this semester
Professor Storla is one of the most effective teachers I've ever had. If it wasn't for his awsome methods in getting the class involved, I would've drowned in boredom. I now feel like I'm capable of going up to Calculus and I'm working on climbing up that ladder but I sure do miss having him as my professor sometimes.
Storla has a passion for what he teaches, is always willing to help students on the side, has innovating ideas to help students succeed, leads his class with a very steady pace so that everyone is in tune, very relaxed and grades very fairly. Take this instructor.
One of the best profs @ MCTC. Made me LOVE math. When he went on sabbatical, I nearly cried. "You will never use any of this ever in your lives, but what you will use is the way it makes you think." Finally, a math prof that levels with you and tells you the truth about what you are learning. Treats every question like it's the best question ever.
He is the reason I am an engineer now, in addition to poli-sci. Thank You Scott
Honestly he is the best teacher at MCTC! This was one of the only classes that I never wanted to miss. The class was very useful and Scott was super helpful. Personally never liked math but Scott made it fun ( can you believe math being fun?!). He always had a little history lesson to back up what he was teaching. Storla's the best!!
Scott is amazing! I absolutely hated math before this class. I also though i wasn't good at it either. It turns out no one could teach it in a way I could understand. I now love math! Scott is a hero!!!! I am taking him again this next semester! I now love math, and I am good t it! I found myself talking about it happily with a calculus teacher!
I took the ALEKS courses with Scott. Even though he didn't teach the material, he would sit down with me once a week and provide feedback or encouragement on my work. He responded to emails very fast and gave very clear explanations. He even helped me before I registered for the class. Excellent person, would take him on ground as well as online.
Great teacher and he really cares about getting the materials across. The guy writes his own text book, what else can I say?
Excellent teacher. I wish we had more teachers like him in MCTC who cares the success of their Students. Even if you never liked math he will surely make you fall in love with it. So bad news if you want to continue to hate math because it is impossible in his classes.
Mr. Storla has a profound and intuitive understanding of how best to make his curriculum and teaching style accessible to all his students. His ability to differentiate his curriculum and support students of all skill levels has been a tremendous gift. His understanding of how to maintain a relevant and engaging atmosphere is unrivaled. Bravo!
He is honestly the best teacher I've had. Super helpful and hot in a Mr. Rodgers way :)
He is the best professor at MCTC. I wish I could have him in all my math classes.
He is a very nice and funny guy. Tests are always harder than what he teaches, so make sure to do the homework in the textbook even though you never turn it it.
Storla is a great teacher and really cares about his students. He has gone the distance to write his own text and has the "text" online. I didn't pay a penny for a book for this class except a note book. I would highly recommend him for any math class you can take from him.
I LOVE Scott Storla. I call him the math wizard, because he makes what he teaches INSANELY easy to understand, just like magic. As someone who has struggled with math my whole life who is now earning A's on my work, I couldn't be more thrilled. Take his class, he is TRULY fantastic! And such a sweetheart. THANKS SCOTT!
Scott Storla is hands down the best professor I have had. I really thought that I hated math my whole life and he changed everything I thought I knew about it. Please, take his class! He is passionate about teaching and helping students actually learn. By the end of the semester, I was doing math for fun. Easy A, no book fee!!
Exceptional professor. By far, one of the best I've ever had. The material is not easy for everyone to understand, but he stops and makes sure that everyone is following and answers any questions that someone has.
Scott is the best math teacher I have ever had. He is an excellent teacher, and he really cares about his students' success. Scott is a wizard, and he will train you to be a wizard, too. I have never had such a capable professor. Show up, pay attention, and get ready to understand math better than you ever thought you could.
Scott is a great professor! I think he is the best Math teacher at MCTC.
Scott was a fun teacher. I never had a good math teacher and didn't understand much about math before taking his class. For once I understood math in the simplest form. He answers questions and explains stuff you don't understand. Assignments are easy but tests are so so. He has YouTube videos that are super helpful. Pick him for math
I love his class! And that's from a person who hated math. He makes math simpler and apply it to real life.
Storla is the best teacher I've ever had. He is very knowledgeable, and excited about math. I had him for both my MATH70&MATH80. In my MATH70 we got to use a textbook that he wrote. I still use it to this day! From what I know he is now working on a MATH80 book. With his help, along with a lot of studying, I've learned to fully enjoy mathematics.
If you aren't doing 15 pages of homework each week you will not get a good grade. Tests are really hard.
He is not helping and expecting good grade from students. I don't recommend this teacher.
As a student who has always hated math. Scott makes it so easy! He really knows how to teach. He replies to your emails. Homework is optional. It really is up to how much work you put into the class as well. His website has practice test, and videos for extra help!
he writes his own book! homework is optional you won't be graded but if you do your HW test and classwork will be SO easy! Class may seem long but if you attend regularly you will succeed and do well on test. His website has practice test and videos if you miss! Hope he continues teaching more math for me to take!
Scott is a breath of fresh air. Take this class if you want to learn to do math like and expert. I loved the class.
He teaches with scare tactics &doesn't explain the formula's &problems into relatable scenarios. I need a teacher that can explain math in detailed steps & thought processes. I didn't like that he took up a lot of class time to complain about other math teachers & the textbook author. Everyone learns differently which he doesn't seem to understand
I took his class math 80 on spring semester and it was the most amazing class ever. Everyone feels off about math but with him math is very enjoyable. There is no text book to buy, his lectures are online and they are from his book. Very decent test which give everyone opportunity to get good grades. TAKE HIS CLASS!! :)
Mr. Scott is a great professor. Homework is optional. If you are serious enough to do your homework then you will do well on test. He makes the class fun and you will never be bored. I wish he teaches calculus.
Scott is a brilliant teacher. He cares about his students. He is one of the best teachers at MCTC!
One of the best math teacher I've ever had in my entire educational life.
Mr. Storla is very funny, smart, and only wants for his students to succeed. He break everything down in class in a timely manner. Everything you learn is also in the textbook he spent 17 years writing himself. Very easy to understand. He is very open minded and will work with you to make sure you reach your full potential!
He is amazing, nobody before could show me that I can enjoy math.
great professor, really pushes you to do your best and makes things easy to understand.
He is an excellent teacher and takes time in helping his students understand the criteria. Textbook is an optional since he leaves homework from the book an option. Very happy guy. Would recommend. Grading on tests a little too much, but good if you show your steps.
Professor Storla is an amazing teacher! He really wants his students to learn. If you do some of the homework, you will do great on the tests. He gives you study guides and keys and makes sure you understand the topic! I recommend you to take him. Make sure you use the textbook! The tests is a mixture of study guide and homework problems.
Truthfully, he's the best math teacher I ever had. He breaks it down the best he can so his students can understand. If you do your homework and go to class, you will pass his class (there are in class assignments which helps your grade). He's always available and is the first instructor who actually takes the time to try to help his class pass.
This man, you guys. Please, take math courses with him. He's absolutely fantastic. I've NEVER had a teacher, high school or higher education, that explains concepts so clearly. He'll pause class after a concept (which he'll do several examples of) and ask if anyone has questions or anything. If we do, he's so patient and reexplains things.
Scott, is simply the best math professor! I appreciate him! Would recomend him to every student who has to do math!
If you need math take Scott hes extremely good at what he does and I cant say that enough. Took him twice and got two As!
Mr. Storla has the most in depth videos explaining step by step what to do :) if I weren't in his class but had the opportunity to watch his videos online, I still would!
Amazing teacher and person. He explains things really well and is super patient and understanding. Willing to work with you. When corona hit he let the class retake 2 exams since we weren't used to online yet. 24 "quizzes" but you just copy what he writes. 100% on each quiz as long as you show up. 1 textbook and we had 7 exams and a final.
I took Mr. Storla this spring semester in 2020. He's the best math teacher I ever had I learned a lot from his class. He has the most in-depth videos explaining step by step what to do. He breaks the topic down the best he can so his students can understand. Would recommend him to every student who has to do Math and is struggling with it!
A handful of tests + projects but they're open-notebook so it's not too difficult to do well. He is really cheerful, helpful and easy to access outside of class. He did assign a test and the final and 2 practice tests all in the span of 5 days so beware of that.
Very clear in video lectures and textbook, I was able to learn all of the class content for the first time in my life and I actually came to enjoy a lot of it. I had to pit a lot of time in but he is a very generous grader. Compassionate, communicative, understanding prof. I wish all my profs were so genuinely interested in my learning.
I can't express in words how outstanding Scott's lessons are. If you are one of those people who feels they don't understand math, Scott will change this. He breaks concepts down in a manner I have never seen. You have an immediate breakthrough and realize how it all makes sense. He is a fair grader, keeps it simple, and gives productive feedback.
Worst class ever
Mr. Storla is the best math teacher EVER! He breaks down the material, so it is easy to understand. When I had questions or concerns, he would always get back to my e-mails in a timely manner. He gives you many opportunities to go back and review your work. I strongly recommend taking his class if struggle with math or need a refresher.
Very professional and honest. He will ensure you understand all his lectures and ask if you have any concerns or questions. He cares and treats his students equally.
Waste of a class
This professor was amazing. I loved his lectures and how he explained everything. There are alot of quizzes but you get to work on them with a group. There are also a few tests but there is aloud a note sheet. Wish he taught higher math because I wish I could have him for all my classes!!!!
I never thought I liked math until I took Math 0075. I have hated math since childhood, but if you have problems with math algebra, take his class. You won't regret it. His lectures are organized, and he responds to emails quickly. My advice is to put effort into doing extra assignments outside class, and u will pass with ease.
The professor was really good helped me understand math well and was really easygoing test were easy if you studied using the practice test only complaint I have was there's a lot of Homework but you can get it done if you have good time management
He has been my favorite professor thus far. I really appreciate the way that his class was set up. I have always struggled in math and I finally feel confident in it after taking his class. Highly recommend!
