Taylor has no clinical experience, but he likes to pretend that he does. And if you ask him something clinical, he'll make things up instead of admitting that he doesn't know. Also, he also likes to waste class time trying to get students to think that he's cool. He's the nightmare high school teacher that you thought you got away from.
Taylor is rude. He wastes lecture time on personal interests. He has no respect for his students, particularly nursing students, which make 80% of the class roster. The class is a dreadful experience.
Taylor's exams are impossible, and you don't get them back. He warns you against writing a lot (because he doesn't want to read it), but then there isn't a lot to go on in terms of answering, so it's a game of "guess what's on my mind." Then you don't get the exam back, so its impossible to learn from mistakes. MSU needs to fire him.
This course is a weed out course. You have a choice to excel in it or fail. It is hard and requires effort outside of class, which is what makes it so challenging. S Taylor is an excellent professor; he does an outstanding job.
He is kind of self righteous. But he gets the job done.
Professor of the year in my opinion. The class is meant to be challenging so if you don't do the work, then yeah expect to fail.
Professor of the year in my opinion. The class is meant to be challanging. If your don't do the work, expect to fail.
Teacher is great, amount and difficulty of material covered is out of control. you only have 2 exams & final if you do bad on 1 forget a good grade no HW no quizzes nothing to give you any idea of where you stand. Lab is a joke no teaching involved most don't bother. Practical exam consists of 50 blank spaces on your paper spelling counts! WHAT FUN
This course is very difficult and easily takes hours of studying outside of class each week to keep up with the material. With Scott, what you see is what you get and there are no surprises. Great professor all around.
Taylor is a horrible teacher. He expects so much work to be done and he can't even keep up in lecture. I ended up with .02% away from a B- and apparently that wasn't close enough. I can't wait to be done taking classes from him.
Scott is by far one of the best teachers in the area, he has one of the best programs and he knows how to teach clearly and concisely. People that say this class is way to hard do not put the time in and do not desearve a good grade. He is very respectful and always willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed. One of the best teachers I've had
Scott is a good teacher, and there is A LOT of subject matter to cover. This is a weed out class, so get ready to read and study while you go. You're much better off if you take General Bio before this class. Even though it's only a 200 level, some of the content would be hard to master without a better understanding beforehand.
He is okay at teaching, but his class is hard.
Taylor is one of those guys that only teaches to feed his own ego. He acts like he knows everything and expects you too. This class is supposed to be an intro to anatomy class. Scott doesn't seem to understand this and seems to get off on making things more difficult than need be. He also only uses strategies that work for visual learners. Beware.
Scott is very down to earth and detail oriented. If you put forth the effort you will do well if you do not... yeah you might struggle. Over all it is an engaging, interesting, well taught and extremely useful course.
Scott Taylor is the king of going on tangents in lecture just to rub his knowledge in your face. also he doesnt allow questions during tests seriously what kind of teacher is that lazy that you dont want to help during tests. He also shows extreme prejudice to nursing students, so if that's you major, lucky you.
Here's the thing this subject material is tough and Scott is about making sure you understand the concept not just memorize for an exam. The best part about him is he lays it all out there for you at the beginning of the semester. You know his expectations. If you put in the work and read you will do fine. Overall great teacher.
Scott Taylor is a high school anatomy teacher with zero qualifications to teach a college course. He makes his class ridiculously hard to try to show that he knows more than you. His classes are formatted to boost his ego and not to help students. Also don't expect much help because the only help comes from his T.A.'s.
Scott Taylor is an egomaniac who takes joy in watching students drop out of his class. He is zero help and he doesn't care for any of his students. Montana State needs to let him go and replace him with someone who cares and isn't egotistical.
I have never met a professor as unattached to his students as Scott Taylor. The only students he cares at all about are students who think and act like himself. He also likes to rub all his knowledge in your face. Very disappointing.
Scott Taylor writes questions on his tests that even graduate level T.A.'s don't know the answer to. He teaches the class like it is a 400 level course when it is an INTRO course. And don't expect any help because his only advice is: "You aren't devoting enough time to this course apparently. Maybe nursing isn't for you." .Thanks a lot.
I laugh when people say he gives you no chance to succeed. WRONG. A&P is hard. Period. He gives you the chance to earn 10 extra credit points EVERY TEST, just to write unit questions. Its that simple. Don't expect to put no effort in and get an A. That won't happen. Take notes, do the homework, and study that's what it takes to be succesful in A&P.
The lab and lecture could be a 4 credit classes each. He doesn't put enough time into the lab. Consequently you get 5 credits for the effort of two 4 credit classes. He needs to simplify this. Due to the vast amount of information everything was converted to short term memory and forgotten shortly after the exam. there is no retention.
His lectures are confusing; he goes really fast through his notes and contradicts the book. He expects you to know and relate everything from the book and then to reorganize what you learned to fit examples he gives for exams. I went to his office he said I was" frankly unintelligent" and that I should drop out (I had a B-). No one on one work.
Scott was a wonderful professor last spring! Sure, he gives tough tests, but they are accompanied by 10 pts of extra credit offered every test period! Want some advice? Do the extra credit! The class is extremely manageable and I ended up with a 116% overall final grade.
Scott makes his class hard but it is passable if you put in the time and the effort. He is so educated and intrigued by the subject. He is a great professor and is very funny.239
Scott Taylor was an awesome professor and helps out if you need it, especially if you take the time to get to know him and introduce yourself to him. He will remember you if you take the time to do this, and will go out of his way to help you out.
You will get so much out of this class if you put in the work! And there is a lot of work (reading, reading, reading,) and memorizing for the lab which gets intense. Make your own note cards for the lab portion (drawing & labeling) and you will be fine. Make sure you get to know him and he will be super helpful. Enjoy!!!
Easiest way to pass this class? Just stay home and read the book. His lectures are long and dull, sometime irrelevant (to catch attention I guess). Do come to lab if you want to pass. Make sure you study couple days before exams. Oh and did I say read the book? Yeah..
I went in to Scott Taylor's office numerous times over the semester, emailed him constantly and he was extremely rude to me the entire time. Found more success skipping his lectures and teaching myself.
Does not believe in extra credit, tough grader, tests are very hard and more in depth than his lecture notes. Enjoyed lab, hated lecture. Goes off topic way too much.
Keep up with the pack or fall behind. A journey of true endurance in the sense of consistent performance. This man is simply more capable than others, some are jealous but I am encouraged by it.
Scott Taylor is an excellent professor. He pushes students to learn as much as they can, and really tests your overall understanding of the information. I would take another class from him in a heartbeat and highly suggest him. People who don't like him want to be spoon fed the answers and not work for their grade.
Scott Taylor is extremely arrogant. He has to give his opinions on EVERYTHING, even stuff not related to the lecture material. He is not helpful at all. Anytime I emailed him he was very rude and condescending.
Quote from today's final "You won't get a 100% on this test, unless you are God." My problem with Taylor is that he doesn't give you any idea on what to study. You are stuck with his lecture notes and everything is "fair game". Get ready to be mind fcked on his exams. What I like about Taylor is he is interested and very smart.
He teaches the class like a 300 level course and if you don't have a strong understanding of biology and chemistry to work on you may find the lecture/physiology portion extremely difficult. The labs are fun and relatviely easy to the lecture, although still a vast amount of material. It may be helpful to have the lab be a separate 4 credit course.
I haven't had any personal interaction but he's intimidating and comes off condescending. It is a tough course. He says the grades aren't inflated but when you can earn 135% on a test, that's a bit of inflation. But it also mean that in order to earn 100% you only need to be proficient for the content standards. It's doable if you study.
Scott Taylor is awful & if you don't have an A in his class and go to see him during office hours (which by the way he hardly has as he is ALSO a nursing student. can you say conflict of interest?) he will make you feel stupid. His tests are insane, and more than what is on study guides. I would say know as much as he does and you'll get an A+.
He's incredibly smart, but has incredibly difficult exams.
Answering and studying his mastery topic sheets are key to getting a good grade. Scott makes his exams worth more points than it takes to get an A which is really sweet. He does come off intimidating some say arrogant but honestly he makes an effort to help you pass. This is the kind of class that requires independent learning.
Despite what others have said, I never thought Dr. Taylor was particularly arrogant. He's willing to help those who try. I studied my ass off for the exams, and it paid off. I've found that people who don't do well in Dr. Taylor's courses tend to not want to read the textbook or his study guides, then blame him for not giving them an easy A.
Taylor is super distracted. He's a nursing student AND teaches A&P 201/211 AND he has a family and a life. He comes to class pumped up on caffeine and is usually all over the place in lectures. He is great because he makes you work hard and wants you to learn the stuff but he is so distracted that it doesn't really work.
He is in nursing school and does not have time for anybody that isn't going into nursing. I have emailed him multiple times and even talked to him in class to try and understand my grade and every-time he has been condescending and treats me like I'm stupid. Take Integrative Physiology instead if you can, Scott is the worst.
Doesn't have consistent office hours. He doesn't respond to emails. He's rude. Rarely available to answer questions.
This is my second semester having Taylor. The class is organized & helped me succeed in that I could study at home and skip lectures and get an A still. Having that option helped me tons. I haven't had an issue with hearing back from emails, there were times when it would take him a full day. He could probably work on communication with students.
Scott is a great teacher. He makes lectures very clear and concise yet he expects you to also read and do your own learning. One must be an active participant if you expect to learn. Too many cry babies here. It is college folks. step up an learn
Taylors class is tough. That being said, it is entirely possible to do well if not great given the curve. What you see is what you get with Scott. He lectures on and assigns reading based on what he is going to test on. Those that complained the most, were the same people that left cadaver lab as soon as they could and shopped online during lecture
very tough class
This class is very hard there's no doubt about it, but if you are a nursing major, a pre-med student or in almost any other medical major there's a good chance you will take this. I would say that this class is probably the hardest I've worked in college. Scott was fair and offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Read, go to class and lab
Scott is chill but hes a difficult guy. Tests are hard, but if you get down his content proficiency question stuff thats what he bases tests off of. Lab is important. It helps your grade so do well in it. Know the vocab as well as step by step processes that Scott WILL emphasize in lecture. Do the unit questions- they help
This is a challenging class, but the lectures are extremely interesting and if you read the book and put in the time you can do well. There is a TON of opportunity for extra credit on the tests and with the unit questions, so even though the tests are hard, you can get a good grade while missing a fair number of questions. Overall, a great class
He really knows the material and makes lecture fun, they offer a lot of tutoring which helped me a lot he also gives a good amount of extra credit opportunities and the lab was fun.
Scott is fantastic. Lectures are interesting and engaging. It is so refreshing to have a professor that sets clear expectations and doesn't put up with any BS. People complain about how hard the tests are, but after the first one I was shocked at how high of a grade I got. Excellent class
I respect Scott and think that he is an interesting individual and very competent in A&P. Lots of people complain about doing poorly in his class, but that is just due to their own lack of motivation and preparation! He gives you study guides that are even organized easiest to hardest topic wise, so as long as you put the effort in you can do well!
Scott is an amazing lecturer and he really cares about the success of his students. There is so much extra credit on his exams that it is hard to get less than a 70%. As long as you do the homework and study throughout the semester and don't cram, you should be good to go for his exams.
He has his class scheduled late in the day so that he can go to his nursing classes. A little unprofessional in my opinion. Needs t have more resources for his classes. He posts his own "notes" but realistically reading the book is most beneficial. He has a lot of knowledge not an awesome teacher.
Scott rocks! Luckily he seems to be only professor for A/P I,II. He's the type of prof you WANT. He cares about not only the content, but more so, YOU understanding the content conceptually. His exams are a bit tough - if you think you've studied a lot... study more! Connect asst's are a pain, but they do introduce new vocab. FYI - GO TO LECTURE!
Awful. Too much content for the course schedule and does not correlate very well with lab. Major misconceptions with what students understand and how his exams are written. Does not offer very much availability due to his schedule in the nursing program. Very unprofessional as a professor.
This class is not that challenging. The text book is pretty clear and concise. I don't think Taylor adds anything to this class or the content learns. I have attended every lecture he's given and I somehow feel I have not learned a single thing from him. He doesn't explain anything, rather he glances over the words on his powerpoint.
This class requires a lot of work, there's no doubt about that, but the people who say it's impossible just aren't willing to put in the effort (and if you're taking A&P, you will most likely need to know the information anyways, so you should put in the effort). There are SO many chances for extra credit, so if you put in the work, you'll be fine.
Be able to apply what you learn in class. Dont count on the book definition, look at what his lecture notes say. Go to lecture or you wont pass.
The class was easy. To me, it seems the exams were written to flatter Scotts ego and not reflect the material. I studied his lecture notes and did the questions at the end of the lectures, easily received an A+ both terms. I dont feel that his lectures helped the overall learning. The lab was really interesting and fun though!
Tests are TOUGH. Read the book, go through Scott's notes, go to class, and be able to answer the proficiency questions at the bottom of his notes, and you'll be fine. Lots of people dislike Scott, but go to his office hours and ask him questions and you'll understand how much he wants students to succeed. These classes are challenging, but worth it
Amazing professor. As horrible as A&P could be to take during COVID, he made the class extremely bearable. His video lectures were more engaging than any other class I've had, and that's something when the lectures are about 'boring' content. He statistically analyzes his exams to make sure they are fair, and he is quick to respond to emails. Great
I went in to ask for help with studying for our first exam and he dismissed me completely, said that I was going to fail because I hadn't studied for 40+ hours per week since the class started (three weeks ago). Offered no advice or study tactics, just told me to try to memorize a few things about each topic and hope for the bare minimum. Horrible
Scott does not seem to care about his students. Doesnt prepare you for exams which are HARD. you basically have to teach yourself and hope for the best. The lab is good but isnt taught by him. He sets unrealistic expectations of us to study 40+ hours a week and said if we dont, we will fail. Unfortunately he is the only anatomy teacher at MSU.
This class really is tough but if you put the effort in, then you will succeed. I studied HARD and asked tons of questions. I think that Scott is a great professor! He sets you up for success by giving you the material that will be on the exam ahead of time. It's up to you to study it well or not.
This is the second time I am taking this class and still have receive ZERO help or support from the professor. You literally teach your self the entire class. The amount of time and work needed to be successful in this class is absolutely absurd! All you can do is hope for the best, b/c you wont be receiving and guidance. So damaging as a student.
I think Scott was a fantastic teacher. He is one of the only professors I have had that has really challenged me, and I am a better student because of his classes. This is the hardest class I have ever taken, but if you buckle down and study nearly every day you will do well in this class. Scott is incredibly knowledgeable.
You will need to work in this class. Those who cannot handle this will not succeed. I studied a lot, which included developing my essay answers early and studying them (he provides you with potential questions at the beginning of the unit). I had no problems with Scott providing help when I reached out, but he also knew I was putting in the effort.
This was by far the hardest class that I have ever taken. The lectures are fully posted online and I struggled to comprehend them. There is no homework so the class is purely lab/exam based for grades.
Ridiculous exams.
I would rather drop out than be treated like a sidewalk that he can walk all over. Out of my many years of attending college, he has got to be the worse professor I have ever had. I feel bad for him that he is so miserable.
Do not attend this course in hopes of learning anything. Dr.Taylor will not teach you anything in regards to anatomy. You will find that you have to study on your own and don't dare ask for help because he does not offer it.
Only take this course if you want to cry.
I did struggle a lot in this class. Lectures are just kahoot games and you need to teach yourself EVERYTHING outside of class. Even went in for office hours and he belittled me and made me feel stupid for asking the questions I had. By far the hardest class that I have ever taken but I did learn a lot (on my own).
Waste of money.
Dr. Taylor is a very smart person. I said it before I will say it again. The amount of effort you put in will reflect your grade. Some people say that he doesn't teach much. No, that is not his job to baby you through the process. He is a professor with well over 200 students. His job is to provide you with the tools and information to learn.
My roommate on the last test of the year (final) was in the middle of taking her exam when her mechanical pencil just broke. She raised her hand and he came over and she explained the situation and he said: "tough luck" and walked away. A TA rushed over and brough her a pencil and profusely appologized for him being a jerk..goodluck future students
Your grade is based 85% on lab practicals and lecture exams. He is very knowledgable but is quite condescending in the way he speaks to the class. Be prepared to spend all your time outside of class on watching his online lectures since he only does Kahoot reviews in class. Lots of extra credit on exams though which is helpful.
Genuinely hated having him as a professor. If you enjoy feeling like you're in high school again, you can take his class and feel it again.
As you can tell by reading these reviews, scott's class is very contraversal. The class is very tough yes, but it requires work. There are no other professor options and most people need to take this class. Scott is very knowledgable but talks condesending to all of his students. Get a tutor, start on essays early. You got this!!
Scott is definitely a character and can be hard to deal with, but is overall very knowledgeable! This class is hard and requires a lot of time, but if you put the effort in you can definitely get an A. There is extra credit available on every exam. PRACTICE THE ESSAYS EARLY and stay on top of Connect assignments. Lab quizzes also add up quickly!
One of the best at msu. Very helpful and understanding. Very knowledgeable. Class is very hard. Study!
Here's how to do well in this class. Don't attend lecture, watch the videos, or use Scotts lecture notes- they are a waste of time. Do the essay questions in advance and memorize to get max extra credit, and study from the connect assignments and book. I don't have many tips for lab, just try your best. This teacher does not care about his students
You will have to do all the reading and understanding on your own. He isn't very patient when you ask questions or attend office hours.
Was not clear about materials in lecture. Doesn't do proper reviews. Will not give extra help in or our of class.
Professor Taylor was by far the worst professor that I have had in my academic career. I reached out for help after the first exam and he was very rude and said that people need to be dedicating 40+ hours a week to his class. I took A&P2 at a different college and it went by much smoother because I was not afraid to ask for help from the professor.
Scott is very condescending. DO NOT go to his office hours. He will belittle you/make you cry even if you're simply looking for direction and guidance through this overwhelming/challenging 200 level class... Thats what his minions are for(his lab TAs that do everything for him). MSU please hire someone else.
Scott Taylor sucked the joy out of learning anatomy. I had a genuine interest in the class truly tried hard, and spent countless hours studying his lectures. Not to mention time spent with T.A's and tutors from Allen Yarnell. He takes joy in watching students fail, belittles you in office hours, has sexual assault allegations. Should be fired.
A and P with Scott Taylor was my favorite class in college. If you don't love it a medical career probably isn't for you...
Scott Taylor is not as bad as he is made out to be. Before I took this class all I heard was how terrible he was. I would say just don't go up and talk to him and you won't have issues. The class isn't that hard either. It has the workload of a 5 credit class but isn't overbearing. Do your homework and show up to lecture and you will do fine.
I never listened to a single lecture, never attended a lab start to finish, never attended office hours, and never asked him a single clarifying question in lecture. Thats because Scott is basically useless and all you need is the lecture outlines, textbook, and quizlets for lab to do amazing in the class.
Okay, despite everything you have probably heard about Scott Taylor, he is not THAT bad. If you try your absolute hardest, you will get an A, no problem. I am sitting at over 100% right now. With that said though, be prepared to study A LOT. His notes are extremely vague, and usually, I'd have to read the textbook in order to learn all the content.
All I need to say is no thank you
Professor Taylor is organized, responsive, and offers a ton of extra credit. After taking BIOH 185 with Anderson a few semesters earlier (what a disaster), I really appreciated Scott's dedication to making his class criteria clear. You'll do great if you do the connect assignments and study for the lab exams. Many get over 100% in the class.
Scott has a bad reputation, but his class is easy. Tests had 140 points available and were graded out of 100, so you would have to miss 80 points before failing (60%). I did homework, maybe studied two hours/test, and got over 100% each time. I didn't go to lecture more than three times. I took BIOH 185 with Anderson and A+P I/II was way better.
While Scott Taylor's teaching style may not be for everyone, engaging with his system can pay off. The textbook and Unstuckstudy are essential - skip lecture if needed, but do the work and you'll succeed. Not the most helpful professor, but manageable with the right approach.
I was extremely sick and emailed all of my professors/TA's and Scott was the only one who didn't get back to me. He was extremely condescending in office hours, self-absorbed, and has some serious harassment allegations against him. DO NOT take this course from him if you can help it! Save your money and go to a different school for this course.
Lecture is pointless to attend half the time he doesn't know what he's talking about. Somehow makes everything more confusing than it actually is. Very clear that he does not have doctorate level background in biology.
Exams seem like they are set up to make you fail, and he isn't kidding when he tells you on the first day to study 40 hours per week. A and P one is supposed to be hard, but Scott makes it incredibly difficult and more confusing than it should be. MSU should hire someone else with an actual background in A and P and passion for teaching.
Dr. Scott is good, he tries to be friendly and entertaining. The class is very difficult and that's why i think he gets a bad rep. He goes off on tangents occasionally, but generally tells you exactly what to study for and to expect for each test. Go to lecture, pay attention, answer ALL test questions and you'll be fine. Be prepared to study lots.
I always come back to this to let everyone know. There's better professors out there for anatomy. He accused me of cheating on his kahoots, just bc he doesn't think brown ppl can get it. I took anatomy at a better school and got an A. I hope they found a better professor bc he is not the best to teach anatomy. Makes it hard for no reason
Straight up makes up information in class all the time. Today he told use angiotensin II increases GFR (it doesn't). There are many more examples like this bro does not know what he is talking about I do not know how he is qualified to teach this.
The class is easy. There is a ridiculous amount of extra credit. Scott is a useless professor who's generally unpleasant in one-on-one conversation. If you need help try to go to an SA, someone who's already taken the class, or tutoring. Don't put yourself in the position to be degraded by this man. Lay low, do the work, and put in time studying.
Straight up makes his own definitions up for things that go against what the textbook and homework assignments say. Lab is not too hard just go every day take lots of pictures of the models and get help from the SA's. Lecture exams are very difficult but he does offer extra credit which helps.
Scott runs through lecture content so fast don't even bother trying to take notes. Use the I CAN statements to study, you don't need to go to lectures after the first few. DO NOT GO TO OFFICE HOURS bro will actually make you cry. Lecture exams are pretty rough so lock in, but they aren't impossible. Good luck gang
Great lecturer, explains things clearly and concisely. The class isn't hard if you study and use lab time well. Lots of extra credit. However, he's blunter and kind of rude during office hours, very different from his bright/happy classroom demeanor. Still a very passable class overall. Practice those I can statements, very helpful for his exams
This class was the bane of my existence; lecture was not helpful at all. The only way to really succeed in this class was to do all of the work outside of class. Half of the material on exams was not mentioned or if they were it was very brief. Don't take this class unless you absolutely have to.
NEVER take this class w/ Scott if you have the option not to. I cant stand this mans superiority complex and lack of A&P knowledge. Over half the questions on tests were never touched on in lecture. You have weekly conceptual (20-50 concepts) homework assignments that are due before he lectures on it. He's completely worthless and waste of time.
