He speaks very clearly and specifically. He knows what he's talking about and if you ask a question he doesn't know, he will look up the answer for you. During lectures, he pauses and mentions if the topic will be on exam. The work is hard if you don't go to class and read your textbook.
He may be knowledgeable about his field but he is not so good at teaching it. He also lacks the ability to write coherently. If you take this course prepare to spend many hours nitpicking your book as he isnt interested in the concepts only what seems like trivia.
His exams are straightforward so you have to pretty much memorize everything you read. He provides study guides, but sometimes it indicate that for chapter X, only study what he went over in class. So...it requires you to actually attend. He's a bit boring too.
He cannot teach. Too difficult.
This is a bio course, so there's a lot of studying. No getting around it. It's dry, he admits from day one. Very easy to get along with, likes an interactive class. He's a sex psychologist, so expect him to emphasize that kind of material on his exams. Final exam is worth half of your entire grade, but he doesn't surprise you with anything new.
Boring Bio course, there's no getting around that. You have to read the book and go to class or you wont have a chance in hell of passing. Its all about the memorization, he tries to narrow it down for you but there's a lot of material. Exams are pretty straight forward but extensive. Final is worth half your grade so be careful. Nice guy!
This is a difficult subject to comprehend as it is, Scott goes way to fast for the material. I recommend another professor if you're not a good memorizer or fast learner with this sort of subject. His handwriting sucks! He scribbles here and there as he speaks so at the end of the course you barely recognize what's on the projector.
Nice guy, lecture are good and he tries to make them interesting but notes are horrible. He also does pop quizzes....and I probably failed everyone of them...also a partner presentation..which he will be re-thinking because of problems.

BORING . . . .Study guides SUCK, don't rely on them for the test. Study the notes, forget the book.
def. be prepared to read the entire text and go to every class,if you are good at memorizing you will do fine. I learned more from this class then anyother, very informative, and all around good guy.
This is by far the WORST class I've ever taken. He collects the 16 page study guides for EVERY chapter in the book and they take about 6 hours each to do. Tests are impossible. Only positive thing: he drops the lowest test grade.
Really nice guy. Rewards students that go to class by pointing out what will be emphasized on the test (and potential questions). doesn't do pop quizes anymore, but the study guides are a pain in the ass... if you wanna do well in the class just go to class, take notes and study the notes. forget the book.
Awesome teacher- to do well you have to work hard but you'll learn a ton of information
the study guides are a pain but they really help because they are 30% of your grade. tests are a little hard- but as long as you keep up with readings and go to class it will be fine.
Brillant man. Amazing professor and best class I have taken. Difficult tests but sets class average at a B-. Study guides really force you to study so the info is engraved in your mind, so while annoying they are REALLY helpful. When I did not study or go to class, it showed. I reccomend this class and Scott to everyone.
dr. wersinger is a good professor and lecturer, but the class is hard and it requires alot of work. but if you keep up with the reading, attend classes and get help when you need it you'll do well. and it's a worthwhile class, i learned alot.
Good guy! He knows what he's talking about. But the course is difficult. You need to study hard for this course!
Hardest class ever taken. if you do his entire study guide and the quizes online you'll know about 15% of whats on the exams. absolutely must memorize every single concept and vocab in the textbook. One exam the avg. was a 58 and there was no curve. also he is extremely wierd about noise in his class you literally can't even flip through papers.
this class will definetly bring your average down. tests are extremely hard unless you memorize the textbook and everyword he says.really tough grader. by far the hardest class i've taken this semester and I have a 3.8 GPA. i strongly recomend taking this class wiht another teacher or try in the summer
Although this is a requirement for all psych majors, do NOT take it with wersinger. I do not understand how anybody could write a good review on him, unless they have a photographic memory, honestly. I had a 3.9 GPA and this class brought me down even after studying the recomended 9 hours a week for this class. Get someone else for this class!!!
Such a hard class. you can study all you want and think your memorizing all the material but mostly everyting he tells you to study is not actually on the exams. you must memorize the textbook and everysingle concept that is brought up in it. very tough exams you do not get much help wiht a studyguide. avoid his class if possible
I dropped this class and I got a 4.0 If I stayed in it I would have gotten a 2 something probably. Do NOT take this class with him if you can find another professor.
Extremely hard class, but if you spend a lot of time studying and go to the review sessions you'll be fine. I studied a lot and managed to get an A.
Dr Wersinger is an excellent teacher! Although this course is very tough, he does a great job in explaining the concepts. He is a very nice guy and people should learn to approach him when in doubt - he is a really patient lecturer! I've learnt a lot from his class and have enjoyed myself. This is indeed an enriching class!
the class is rediculously hard proly the hardest one u will ever take at ub. material is really for 2 semesters but crammed into one so u better not take many other classes while taking this one. dont expect help form him hes extremely cocky about how he teaches and makes u feel like your dumb for not knowing somehting.avoid his classes
Very good teacher! The material is not terribly difficult to learn there is just a lot to memorize. It's not his fault that there is a lot of material to cover. You have to take responsibility for your own learning, just showing up to class is not enough. He knows what he is talking about and gives many real life applicable examples.
for the amount you have to learn and memorize this class should be a 15 credit class. wut he gives you to study is not on the test. you must memorize the book to get a good grade
This class is so hard! I am a great student and I struggled since day 1. Scott is ok as a teacher. He is approachable and helpful but it's hard to go to him in O.H. bc he expects you to know a lot before you ask a question. It isn't impossible to pass but it's hard to get an A. He expects a lot! Take with someone else if possible.
This is a very hard class! It's a science class, he says this right from day one. The concepts you learn at the end of the semester are built around what you learn at the beginning. you have to study the material as you learn it, you can't cram for this class. He is helpful if you have a question but be prepared to actually DO SOME WORK!!!
Was hired at NU to teach bio day before semester started. He is obviously very smart, but is very mean and not at all personable. This guy will take every little opportunity to chew out a student in front of everyone else on a daily basis. I remember him yelling at someone for yawning too loudly, which is unavoidable considering how boring he is.
I'm sick of everyone complaining about Dr. Wersinger and about this class. It is a science based course and he tells you right away it will be the hardest Psych class most Psych maajors will have to take. Read the book and GO TO CLASS and you will do fine. The quizzes on the chapters of the book are a grade booster, so don't be lazy!
He is extremely helpful and great at explaining. Knows his stuff real well. The quizzes are there to help, so do them well! Am not sure why there are so many negative comments about him, but he's a pretty awesome prof.
the class is hard but the prof doesnt have to be such a toolbox about it. it seemed like he stopped class to complain about people walking in late more than he taught. if you end up with him and TA Greeny you might as well just shoot yourself because the amount of pompous "im so much better than you" b.s. that youll have to deal with is overwhelmig
Mean spirited professor who let's you know that "he knows what he's talking about." Could be a great teacher if he wasn't so belittling and actually had a clearly laid teaching plan. Doesn't respond to emails either, even though he says he does.
It's a tough class of course. But an A is definitely doable! Read the textbook, go to class, and take advantage of the online quizzes. They really boost your grade. And lastly, never be late to class! He WILL call you out in front of everyone.
science based course(obv about the brain). he claims its super hard. i took anatomy&physiology, so it wasnt bad at all. what i didnt like was his attitude. he said "i get paid the same amount no matter how many people show up so i dont care if you come." but if you show up late he will make it known to everyone.he belittles you for asking a questio
The class requires an immense amount of time and focus. The information that you learn is valuable, but the amount of studying required from this class makes it a pain. The professor is no nonsense, and very passionate about the material. He will call you out in class for being late, and also lock you out of exams and deduct points for tardiness.
Kind of full of himself. "I know the material do you?, blah balh blah... but once you get past that b.s you will learn A LOT. Easy quiz HW.. extremely tough tests. Low avg.s for the 50 minute class around 50guess its easier for the hr and 20 min section Says you need to know text for test but in reality its what he says in class that really counts.
In front of the entire class he definitely seems arrogant but if you go to his office hours for help you will see he really is a nice guy that is there to help. The tests are so difficult because he isn't asking you to simply regurgitate facts or theories but makes you think critically and make new connections between the material learned.
WORST PROFESSOR! He is arrogant, opinionated and could care less about if we succeed. He admits that his job is to make biopsych as miserable as possible and he does an excellent job at that. There is too much course material and his exams are nearly impossible. There are things on the exam that I have never heard of. I would not reccoment him!!!
He was extremely well spoken and knew the material well. It was absolutely necessary to go to class and read the book. He was very approachable in review sessions. Do the review sheets, diagram notes, and attend review sessions. It is definitely possible to achieve an A.
He is an amazing person and I love his lessons! One of the strictest professors I know, but as long as you aren't late for his lessons and you take responsibility in learning, you will do just fine!! I'm indeed impressed and inspired by him. Thank you, Dr. Scott.
Dr. Wersinger is about one of the most dedicated professors I have encountered. Pay attention in his classes, read the material he assigns, and spend about an hour each day thinking about the material and an A is achievable. Do not hesitate to ask him questions about the material because he likes how students take charge of their own learning.
He is not very approachable and belittles you when you ask questions. He is very intimidating and the material is extremely difficult. You need to do more than just read and look over notes. You need to understand everything thoroughly to do well on the tests. DO THE QUIZZES! They will help your grade a lot. Also make sure you go to class.
He is an amazing professor who is willing to help any student who puts forth the effort. Textbook reading is mandatory and so is attendance if you even want a shot at a good grade. He will call you out if you are late, but if your late you probably should not take his class. Strict but he is no different than a real boss would be.
narcissist who is an ineffective professor due to his lack of people skills. amotivating with snide remarks, immature demeanor. He likes himself enough for the majority of his class who simply wont. Personality aside, his professorial skills are weak.
Professor is very hard. If this is the field you are going into, then take him. But if you're a psych major who just needs this as a required course, find another professor. He can be pretty rude to people and is really tough. Book is very necessary to pass. Doesn't take attendance, but you need to be in class to pass. Tests are VERY hard!
He isn't whats hard - the class has WAY too much material to cover properly in one semester. He does his best to get the information across, but if you don't ask questions you'll never get the answers you're looking for. His specialty is Reproduction so that section is gone over extensively.
Slackers and lazy people should stay away from this person's class, or prepare to work their hardest. Intelligent and hardworking students are likely to enjoy his classes as he has high expectations of students. Reading the textbook before class is crucial.
This class was useless. First do NOT take an Online class with him especially not this one. The video lectures are boring and the reading is intense. Devote your time to it because if not you will get a poor grade.
Extremely hard professor. Constantly telling you, "well if you don't even know that you're in trouble good luck on the test" when clearly nobody could answer the question. The averages for his tests are usually 26/50. He makes it very clear that his job is to get the information across and he does not care how you do after that.
The class is very difficult and requires a lot of hard work, but it is worth it. Limited office hours is a downside as he is much easier going outside lecture. Expects professional and responsible behavior from his students, and works to motivate you to learn and retain the material. Tests are very hard but the average grade is curved to a C+/B-.
Do NOT take this course, unless you want to spend all of your life working for it. It's very interesting and everything, but the course crams Anatomy and Physiology I and II into a 4 credit online course where the teacher doesn't respond to emails or questions. He is extremely unhelpful and rude, and makes the tests extremely difficult.
Material is difficult, but plenty of current research is used to explain and understand. Tests are hard but quizzes and participation balance it out and make an A easy enough. He is extremely helpful if you seek it, just doesn't want his time wasted by students who don't care to put in the work.conducts his own research and is published.
What else can be said about online courses? Except the fact that you do not have to leave your home to attend class. I got by reading the ebook and also buying 'Barron's E-Z Anatomy and Physiology' book with practice exams ($12 on amazon). His teaching style is very traditional, "toughen up and do your work." Definitely worth the knowledge.
Far from approachable. Each and every class you will hear, "I don't care if you learn this", "you guys are in real trouble for the exam" etc. Such encouraging things to hear from a professor of a challenging course right? Take this class with this professor after he sees a therapist. You're more of an emotional punching bag than a student.
I took double Wersinger classes in summer- Biopsychology and Behavior Genetics. One key takeaway: Do not expect spoon-feeding or wishy-washy nonsense. Dr. Wersinger puts in effort for his classes and so should his students. He employs the Socratic method, so read up on assigned chapters before class. For Genetics, participation is vital to scoring.
TERRIBLE teacher. If I didn't NEED to take this online course for my major I would have done it in person, with a different professor, in a heartbeat. It doesn't matter if you're smart- if you don't have good study skills and memorization, he thinks you're worthless (and probably does regardless). He's also rude and constantly making snide remarks.
Be prepared to work hard. I honestly don't know how I pulled off an A-. I took this class online and he set up cushions so that if you did poorly on the final exam you had some leverage from other methods. We had online exams (open-book), but if you don't study and just use the book to pass those tests, you won't be happy with the final.
The class is challenging and Dr. Wersinger doesn't go out of his way to make it any easier on his students. He expects a lot from his students, so if you're not looking to go in to this field, you might want to take it with another professor. That being said, he really knows his stuff, and if you approach him one-on-one he is actually helpful.
Unless you have photographic memory STAY AWAY! You must remember anything and everything he says during lecture. Do not even look at the "study guide" he makes because only about 20% of it is on the actual test. Be late by 1 minute? he'll call you on it. Make sure you do the quizzes and answer the clicker questions. Theyr grade boosters.
He is strict but friendly and he cares about student's grades.
You NEED the book to pass this class. You also need to do the online quizzes and answer the TopHat questions to help increase your grade. The tests are difficult, and the so called study guides he gives basically cover everything in each chapter. If you want an easy A, or are taking this class for "fun", don't do it.
He was very rude to students.
The class is crazy hard. It should be 2 semesters worth of work, not 1. Prof. Wersinger is not very nice but he will try to help you pass. Go to class and do the online labs, it's the only way to get a good grade. The averages on the exams were 50%. They're REALLY hard.
He doesn't answer emails with questions. He is confusing on what he expects you to know for the exams. Do the work and put in the time on your own and you'll do ok but don't expect help from this guy. Also go and study old exams, they are on the final! Your welcome.
He starts the class off extremely negative. He is demeaning and not very friendly. He needs to be more approachable. He makes the learning process like a job. Some of us want to enjoy our learning experience!!!!!!!
I didn't have a problem with this professor. Yes he's rude but I didn't really care. I got that A despite him being so intimidating. Just do everything he asks you to. Know your APR terms and do those online assignments! I honestly think those 2 things got me that A. I did struggled with Part II on each exam but he curves grades! So not too bad.
This class is NOT an easy A. You will work really hard. I put probably 15 hours a week into this course, but it was worth it! The book is mandatory! Read the chapters, take notes, do online quizzes, attend lecture, and go to TA office hours. It's hard, but not impossible to get an A, you just really have to work for it!
Scott was a challenging professor teaching a challenging subject. He is thorough but very willing to help anyone who seeks help from him.
He is the worst. He is rude and is not there to help you. He hasnt recorded a new lecture in years. His test averages are in the 50s. after taking this which is combined physiology and anatomy i took just physio and we actually go into LESS detail than he does. He expects too much for the level of class it is. No one on one contact, DONT TAKE
He very rude and unorganized. There is a lot you need to know for this class and he is no help due to the fact that he can't even get his part together. There is nothing good about this man. Don't take his class, if you can avoid it DO SO! WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!
He is rude and not helpful. He knows his stuff but doesn't like to help. He is definitely intimidating. There is a ton to know in this class but it is possible to do well. Do not take with other difficult courses. It will be your main focus.
Online A&P 1&2 course which is too hard for it being an online course. Tests are Friday afternoon/evening every couple of weeks. He's very intimidating but is actually a good guy if you meet him one on one. He suggests spending 15-20 hours per week for this class so make the time for it and you'll do good in the class
Being an online class he can only help you through e-mails which basically means he cant help you very much at all. He very clearly says what you have to do the first lecture to be successful and then you basically teach yourself. Hes a great lecture teacher just very strict on exam day. Class is all memorization very little conceptually.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. He is unorganized, rude, and unwilling to help. I'd change my major before having to take another class with him.
Its a 400 level class. Its hard.If you dont want to put the work into the class then don't bother taking it.He'll call you on being lazy & b.s.ing through answers.Study the material & you'll d fine. He is nice if you go to office hours and will help show you how to raise your grade if you arent doing well but he wont hold your hand through it.
I took the course only because it was required. It seems more like a course for future neuroscientists than psychology majors. That said, he amply covered the required topics and assigns appropriate homework. He clearly states expectations and warns you that you will need to KNOW this material and not simply regurgitate facts.
Three words: Don't take it. Unless you feel like being talked down to all class and that's your thing, then go for it. Otherwise, prepare to hate your life for the next 15 weeks. Worst professor I've ever had. Incredibly rude, his "tests" were more like research papers, and the hardest grader I've ever met. Run away, run far away.
He's a very good teacher. He knows his stuff but can be cocky about it. Read the chapter quickly before watching the lectures. This way you'll have some idea on what he says and the content will make sense. Make sure you know the APR, it's easy points in a hard class. Do all assignments and score around the average and you'll pass. Study ALOT.
Class was insanely hard. Tests are extremely difficult with having to memorize hundreds of pictures and names. Also that is only part 1. If you have the option, do not take this class. If you do have to, study a lot and you can do good. If class was in person instead of online only it may have been a better experience.
His class is one of the hardest class I have ever taken. Averages for the exams are around 50%. Very tough to score but still do-able.
Good luck with this course, this one should be the one that tests your patience and consistency. The exams are divided into two parts, one part memorizing 300-500 pictures at a time, and another part is tricky physiology questions with no actual study guide (except the useless general overview that the professor gives you).
He knows his stuff, he's a good lecturer. His tests are difficult (but not reasonable), partially because the content is difficult itself, but if you study well for it, you can do well. He adds a little curve to the grade based on the class's mean and SD. Effort and self-discipline are mandatory.
I actually enjoyed his class. A LOT of material, but they were useful. I really hate the subject, but it was made bearable and comprehensive with all the tools (like videos and slideshows) used. The weekly tests were EXTREMELY helpful too.
Always helpful to answer any questions you have. Even if it means he need to have an additional class on the weekends. A humours character that helps to make his supposed dry and difficult topics fun to listen to.
This was a difficult class to take mainly because there was just so much information to absorb. I only didn't like the fact that students were expected to watch lectures, read the textbook, and complete homework/quizzes since there was just so much information to take in. If you really took the time to study, it is definitely possible to do well!
It's not a hard class. There's 2 parts in exams. 1 is anatomy & 2 is physiology. Physio is not the same w/ PGY300. Do the assignment & u will get a good grade.
If you love reading textbooks for hours, then watching hours of lectures, and memorizing hundreds of pictures, then this class is for you. And if this class is for you, bravo. Tests are extremely hard. Memorization and amount of material is insane. Makes people reconsider their major. Ill end on this ... Good. Luck.
He may come off as nasty and intimidating initially, but once you get to know him better as the semester progresses, you'll appreciate his lectures and the rigor of the syllabus. He is a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the subject. Biopsych is no easy course but he makes it interesting and easier to follow. Great foundation for grad sch.
Dr. Wersinger wants and expects professional level work. It's clear to see he is very intelligent and he takes zero pity on people not willing to earn their knowledge. He'll help anyone with a desire to learn. Most students complaining are those most likely to drop their program. I'd recommend his classes to anyone seeking to be a professional.
Do the work. Dr. Wersinger tells you the first day, do the work and you will succeed. Don't skip on the reading, make sure you watch the lectures and do all the HW. Study. Tests are hard but not impossible, overall fair class. Dr. Wersinger really knows his stuff, and will make sure you really know yours also.
This class is incredibly difficult, but not as impossible as it seems. Make sure you set aside a LOT of time to study-particularly memorization. Focus on anatomy, then guess on physio. No one goes into exams confidently, but if you make sure you really know the anatomy and have read the chapter, you'll be OK with the curve.
The homework assignments are easy and help raise your grade, make sure you get a 100 on all of them. There is so much memorisation in the class with all the anatomy expect to be studying 15 hours a week like he says or you'll be taking this class over again, like me.
He is very particular about punctuality. Also absolutely no talking in class unless you are contributing an idea. He really expects a high level of class participation and will call people out to contribute if no one has anything to say. Can be stressful if you are an introvert.
This class in general is just a really tough class and Professor Wersinger doesn't stop saying that. You either know your stuff or you don't and it really does depend on how much time you put into this class. Know the anatomy, guess on the physiology. Do your homework, easy online points. Always bank on the curve
Many people may be intimidated by this course but it is fairly easy to get a good grade if you put in hard work and constant effort. I took the online course over the summer and i would say that he grades rather leniently. He may seem strict but he is very engaging lecture and very willing to help if you have doubts. Tip: learn the textbook!!
Holy crap get ready to work your ass off for a good grade. ES207 is not a walk in the park, you really need to work for your grade as it should be with this type of class. you must be a self motivated individual and keep up with the lectures online. This class you will feel like there is never ending work!
My best advice is to take this class over the summer or winter. I took it over the summer online and i'm so glad I did. The class is a lot of work (in terms of studying) and requires a lot of attention. It would be a lot of stress to take on with a regular course load. It's difficult but doable if you read, watch the lectures, and study.
He states multiple times how much effort you'll need to put into the class and he's not exaggerating. His lectures have most of the material on the physiology part of the exam, but you need to read the book chapters to get the rest of the info needed. Memorizing the APR images is tedious but easy points once you find a system for studying them
A LOT of work. If you dont read textbook and watch lectures you probably wont do well. He is kind of rude, but the way he explains things is easy to understand. If you study the anatomy and can get a 100 on the labeling part of the exam, you can still do well as long as you know at least some of the physio. Surprised i made it through this semester
He delivers the material and makes it clear what must be known. It is definitely a class you will have to invest a lot of time into. This class is straight memorization, the more time you spend with the material the better off you will be. He is a good guy and wants you to do well. Tip: Go to office hours and take notes on your past exams!
ES207 is a class that can be easily intimidated by, however Professor Wersinger is a very caring professor that cares about his students both academically and as people. Ensure you obtain a 100 on the assignments, and study STRATEGICALLY. Put in AT LEAST 30+ hours a week and an A will not that be difficult
Acts cold and strict in class but actually nice and helpful when you approach him for questions. Expect to study the textbook well. Content heavy. Assignments not difficult to score. Test questions are not tricky if you know your stuff. It's an in-dept subject so, consistent effort is key.
Very straightforward guy. Can come off as a jerk sometimes and can act like a know-it-all, but the guy does know his stuff. Be ready to put 15-20 hrs or more into each week.
get ready to read. he acts like a jerk and be careful when it comes to sending him emails. alot of memorization. Not an easy class be ready to study for 15-20 hours a week
Class is curved even though it is not mentioned in the syllabus. For my class last semester an A was 87+, a B was 74-78, a C was 60-66, a D was 49-52, and an F was anything below a 49. You still need to study a ton to do well in this class. Definitely focus on APR and know those like the back of your hand before every exam. Good luck...
He's a good professor in class but for an online module, he was totally inaccessible. He didn't reply to our emails for days even though we had an exam. He didn't give us sufficient assignments (1 for the sem) Didn't give us enough opportunity to earn credit for assignments. If you like to consult your prof regularly, don't take his online module
Dr. Wersinger is very knowledgable yet makes the course very difficult to succeed in. He is not approachable and also very strict. He will take points off of your grade for just about anything you do wrong. This class is very time consuming and if you don't put in the time, you won't succeed. Avoid this class if possible.
It is definitely one of the hardest classes you will ever take and it WILL haunt you. Regardless, I learned a lot from this prof and gained a lot of knowledge from him beyond the textbook material. He teaches very well and is nice when you approach him after class with questions. And he actually cares about us too.
Worst
This class is not meant to be taken with other classes, you literally will not have a life if you even want a B in this class you must study atleast 3-4 hours a day
I feel that Scott is a fine professor and is good at explaining difficult. However, with the way the course is set up with requiring memorization of so much anatomy and then in depth physiology on top of that it takes many hours of hard work in order to succeed in the class. Be prepared to cut out a good chunk of your week studying for the anatomy.
Good luck. This class is easily the hardest thing i've ever done. Tests every couple weeks on 3 systems plus a cumulative final in case that wasnt bad enough. His tests contain material he doesnt even talk about in his lectures. He's not joking when he says 15-20 hours a week is required for this class. The class material is extremely interesting.
This class is very hard and you get what you give. Theres no extra credit just mass amounts of online labs and quizzes. Focus on the anatomy and know that and watch the lectures and read the textbooks for the physio. Physio was so hard on the tests go to office hours. For the final: focus on skeletal, nervous, muscular anatomy.
He teaches really well and I respect him for his commitment as a professor. He never hesitates to stay even after consultation hours to explain to us certain parts of the lecture that we dont understand.
This course can make many feel intimidated by its content, but there are many resources to do well. Make sure you excel the anatomy from his customized APR for Part 1 since it is easy points. For Part 2 (physio), watch his lecture playlist & read the textbook for parts he didn't cover, then guess. The fun part is that anatomy workshop so attend it!
The comment website that is used for this class is very unorganized and terribly structured. The class itself is not structured the best either. Your better off reading from the book
Not a very responsible teacher in terms of uploading assignments and video lectures.
Did not pay attention to the class at all. There was a span of three weeks that he did not give us any announcements or post anything for us to do. Lacks the responsibility of uploading anything online.
We had our first exam in september, and it is now december and we still dont have our grade back for it. I also have emailed the professor multiple times throughout the semester and havent gotten a single response back.. He never posts assignments to UB learns when he says hes going to. This has made for a very stressful/frustrating 15 weeks.
You only get ONE week to learn a new chapter. (Im serious) Its only been 4 weeks since the semester started and I have an exam on chapters 1-5, plus lab stuff. Just way toooo much to grasp at once. Wish I had another teacher; Also, I dont like how he teaches. I go to YouTube for a lot of clarification because his lectures are dark/boring
By far the most difficult class I've ever taken. The level of knowledge that you are expected to know for exams is outrageous for a 200 level course. You're expected to know an INSANE amount of information and when tested on this VAST amount of new information, you are expected to recall that info and spell it correctly or lose points. Insanity.
I think he is a good prof and gives you many resources to succeed in the class. However, its very frustrating when you have to know hundreds to thousands of APR structures per exam when theres only 20 questions. I cannot stress this enough, you HAVE to study atleast an hour or two every day if you want to pass. I didnt do that and was overwhelmed
Probably one of the worst professors Ive had other than Sageev. His tests are close to impossible since you need to know an insane amount of structures. Not only that, he barely gave enough time to answer the questions (talking about online tests because of corona). If you want to do anywhere close to good make sure this class becomes your life :(
I emailed bout a critical grade change and he never got back to me!! A half a letter grade difference in my major, and he could not take the time to look over my grades.
Dr. Scott has a no-nonsense mentality when it comes to our assignment. He may be strict, but he has the best of intentions. He will do his utmost best to clarify any doubts we have until we understand the concept. If you are in it for an easy A, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you truly want to do well, especially post grad he is the prof you need
From his videos he seems fine and he really does care about what he is teaching. He comes off very harsh, only because he wants students to realize how much work is necessary for the class. Your saving grace will be your TA's. They do everything for this class so as long as you get good TA's and you utilize them, it shouldn't be horrible.
Dr. Wersinger is a great Professor to teach ES 207. The class is difficult and will be shocking at first but it can be made if you are willing to work. One out of four tests is dropped. I think doing well in this class is entirely up to you and how much you are willing to work for it.
I know people think Professor Wersinger is a bit hard, but he's actually very kind and approachable. He prefers the very formal relationship between professor and student, despite this he goes out of his way to help. His grading uses a "bin" system. He explains this in the syllabus, though not well enough. Stay on time, you'll do fine.
Scott wersinger is one of the least effective professors I have ever had. His test structure is insane. The homework doesnt prepare you for the tests whatsoever. Do not take this course especially if this man is teaching it. Especially if you just need a science with a lab and you major in like.. communications or something. You will be miserable
Extremely critical and strict professor. I had the opportunity to take 2 classes with him, one was via zoom. Both were equally bad. Can even be disrespectful at times where there was once when he tore up a students work in front of the class. I managed to score an A for my overall grade, but I have myself to thank, not him.
This is the most atrocious class I have ever taken. The course description was incredibly misleading, this is not a basic course. You are expected to memorize thousands of detailed structures in little time. He doesnt answer emails, and for such a hard course ITS NOT TAUGHT LIVE! He puts no effort into teaching but expects us to work insanely hard
Worst professor I've ever had. Belittles you & expects you to know well over 1000 structures in the body and devote all of your time to his class while he puts zero effort into it. Grades, assignments, & emails are all late being posted. He takes no responsibility for your grade, but instead tells you to work harder. Unhealthy learning environment.
Prof Wersinger has such little respect for students and their time. The tests include hundreds of anatomical terms that are to be memorized and he takes off points for misspelling. He is unprofessional; he swore numerous times during tests and got on kids so much about wearing masks. Had to take this class twice before getting a solid grade.
This is the most astrocious and disgusting class I ever took. I've never failed a course before this class. The work loud is crazy and the exams are impossible to pass. He does no respect student's time and doesn't care if they fail
He expects us to know different bones are structures in a matter of 3 months and the class is online which is no help, he barely gives a curve and he's terrible over all and most of the people I know in that class seem to think so as well. If there is another teacher go with them but if you don't need this class please save yourself the trouble.
He's not a good prof and its not even taught to you, you have to read everything with no help
If you dont have to take this class, dont. He is absolutely no help at all. The TAs do more for you than he does. He expects you to memorize a ton of structures in a very short amount of time and takes points away for misspelling and capitalization. Be prepared to spend hours each day for this class if you want to get a good grade. I dont recommend
His recorded lectures are somewhat long but they help with the exams, especially the physiology part. The exams are difficult if you do not study.
Scott is a terrible professor and should really find another career path to take. Just because youre probably funded from the campus to do research, doesnt mean you should teach. Terrible professor and makes this fun class harder than it should ever be. 0/10. Get a new job bud.
This class need 20+hrs on working on this course a week. lecture videos are long around 6 hrs a week, and we need to read the textbook on top of that which you will be spending 70% of ur ES207 work time. Lots memorization for this class considering 50% of the exam are based on memorizing structures. Not a bad professor just the worst class to take.
There's lots of negative comments on here - don't be fooled. If you put in a few hours a week, you'll get an A. Pretty general overview of the subject.
he is a horrible teacher, and in this class you are basically teaching yourself. I honestly dont know how he doesnt have lower ratings. So not understanding to students needs and times. Expects us to know so much content as if its the only class we are taking
worst prof ever.he barely responds to students emails and posts whole assignments and units late. He reuses 8 year old lectures and gives students hundreds of apr structures to memorize and expects us to dedicate 25+ hours a week to the class, as if its the only one we are taking.Only people who help are the TAs and even they hate him. fire him plz
If I could give him negative stars I would. He is the most condescending, misogynistic professor I have ever encountered. He will belittle you if you say something incorrect in class and he also does not care about his students. I can honestly afraid to reach out to him because of how much of a jerk he is. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR
Get ready to do 25+ hours worth of work for this class. Scott is a horrible professor, he claims everything he teaches and assigns is "fair game" meanwhile we are learning over 800 structures and hundreds of concepts. His lectures are from 2013. Assigns multiple HWs that take around 3-7 hours to do.
there is way too much work assigned for this class. At some point we had to do 5 chapters in two weeks and each homework takes more than 5 hours to do. There are at least 1000 structures from the body (spelling counts) and hundreds of concepts that you need to memorize for the final since it is cumulative.
Lots of homework was assigned each week, from two different sites that had to be purchased. He grades your spelling and grammar. His exams are extremely difficult and very short, only 25 min. My class tried to talk to him about the exams and how unfair and difficult they were but he really didn't care what was said. He's very rude.
Extremely rude professor. Any sort of constructive criticism is immediately met with hostility and that we signed up for it when we enrolled in the class. Never take this professor unless you have to.
Listen, I love this professor--and I want it known that I did NOT feel that way in the beginning. This man is your OG kind of hardo, and he will push you. If you don't care about growing academically or emotionally, don't bother with this class. If you value having a professor who won't coddle you and will hold you to high standards, take it.
Does not care about his students and shows no mercy. Don't miss a test because he won't care a single bit and will make you feel horrible about it. You teach yourself everything and it is a LOT of content. Be ready to put all of your free time into this course.
Lots of homework on two different platforms you have to pay for which is annoying, but pretty easy assignments. Tests are hard and are given in a very restrictive format. Lectures can drag and the professor can come off cold, but he is just more traditional. Really wants everyone to succeed, which isn't hard if you put in the work.
If you are someone who likes discussion based classes, I could not reccomend Dr wersinger enough!there is a lot of reading involved, but he runs his class differently than most professors. This class was highly discussion based, if you enjoy that style of learning, I highly recommend you take a class with Dr. Wersinger
Saw the bipolar reviews about this professor and decided to take his class to see how it would go. PSY 351 is one of the most fun courses, and he complicates it unnecessarily. He is hostile to even general questions and answers rudely. Made a couple of misogynistic remarks as well. Dropped the class as soon as the first lecture ended. No regrets.
For a course required by the Psychology major, you would think they could find someone who doesn't boast about a 70% exam average. Dr. Wersinger is completely inaccessible by email. Constantly says things like, 'if you don't know this material by now, you'll never catch up'. Mind you, it's the second day of lecture. Avoid like the plague.
He's intimidating and means business but he can TEACH. He's very knowledgeable, he shuts people down fast but if you're genuine and eager he will fully answer your question. He spends time berating students, makes you grow up fast. You HAVE to read the txbk, do Cengage MC ?s, and kritik writing/drawing assignments that are very time consuming.
Don't take this class with him. Biopsych is supposed to be a great course. His work is time consuming and he does not grade our writing assignments (other students in the class do). He is completely inaccessible through email. This class is very test heavy. There are only two tests. Expects 15 hours a week of studyign for his course. Terrible!!!
This professor doesn't grade the kritik assignments. Its student student-graded and the weight of kritik in your final grade is high. It doesn't matter how spot on you are or how much time was invested because some students grade too critically and others will give you poor feedback simply for grading them fairly, which affects your grade.
It really feels like he's going to resign at the end of this semester, many students and I feel like the effort he is showing is not what he used to be in the past. Took it as its the compulsory mod, but would never take this professor ever again.
Man. If you are reading this, and you've EVER thought about listening to one of these reviews: let this be the one. Do not take this course, do not even think about it. One of those professors who gets off on low exam grades. Like ... you think it's our fault ALL of your classes consistently fail your exams? You will hate your life for 15 weeks.
For being an online class, he did not seem to know how to work the websites he was using for assignments. At least 4 tasks to complete each week, not including the three 50 minute lectures a week. Claimed this was the worst grading semester he had but was rude when students asked questions and never answered emails regarding info or assignments.
Doesn't answer emails and not super helpful in office hours. Tested on 14 chapters but only learned 3 in lecture, the rest you have to read the book to learn. He's honestly pretty mean and scary to talk to, be prepared to be singled out and questioned during class if you raise your hand. ORGO was easier than this class. Do not take.
Genuinely the hardest class I have ever taken. Continuously states "if you plan on going to cornell all professors will be like this"..who said I want to go to cornell? Tests on 14 chapters but discussed like 4 CONCEPTS from 4-5 chapters in lecture, the rest we have to find through the textbook. Avoid at all costs unless you dont care about ur gpa.
Seems like a nice guy, but he has no business teaching this class. To say he has taught us would be a pretty vast overstatement. The kritik assignments are horrible, and students will grade each other viciously. Even when the grade is disputed, he does nothing and ignores it. He NEVER answers emails, despite saying he does in the syllabus.
The only reason I picked the hilarious tag was due to him being a hilariously bad professor. As stated by all of my other graders here, avoid by any means. Last final of my undergrad career and easily a bottom 3 professor ive had at this university, which says a lot. Being a generally bad person has reflected on many of the students, bad professor.
I would avoid this class. 30 percent of your grade is taken up by Kritik assignments where students grade others students very harshly. You will get no help from the professor either. He is inaccessible by email. If you are able to schedule an office hours appointment with him then he will be condescending and interrupt you many times.
Avoid this class at all costs. Hw involves submitting material to be graded insanely harshly by other students. DO NOT BE LATE. He stops lecture to berate students who walk in one minute late (wish I was joking). He only goes over four chapters in lecture, our final was cumulative and we were expected to know 14 chapters. Never responds to emails.
it's almost comical how awful this class is. some professors are so disconnected from reality that they truly think their students are the problem, and not them. we spent a month on his research interest (sexual reproduction) and skipped over half the other topics we were tested on. genuinely NEVER TAKE this course if you care at all about your gpa
Once you get past the harassment for coming in late (yes, he does do this and I don't care for it either), he actually teaches extremely well and I personally took a lot away from the class. The Kritik assignments everyone is complaining about were genuinely very helpful and it was easy to get good grades on them if you put in any effort.
I saw the reviews on him and decided to take this professor anyways to see for myself. I dropped the class after two lectures, this class is already going to be hard, I didn't want to suffer any further with a professor who is adding to the classes difficulty.
Literally such a bad professor that when course evaluations rolled around this semester, I came here to leave a review about him from last semester. I've never met someone who held more disdain for their job or their students. The worst part is that he clearly has so much valuable knowledge but hates students too much to teach it. AVOIDATALLCOSTS
Every rating about Scott on here is correct but here is what they don't tell you; Scott is a great professor at this core at his core but he's very rigorous in a class that is already difficult and will expect you to put in the same amount of effort as a graduate student. He does not take any nonsense and if you are ready to be challenged, take him
Most of the ratings on here are accurate, he's a tough professor and getting the grade you want takes some work. However, he's honest up front about the work you need to put in and if you do the reading and pay attention to his lectures, you can do just fine. He's very knowledgable on the subject matter and gives good lectures too.
Scott is hard because he wants to be. I took this last spring and will never wish it on my worst enemy. The class is difficult and I believe he purposefully made it harder for students. If you want to cry and study for days and still get a C, take this course. How I got a B- is beyond me. He's a nice guy outside of class at least.
Give absence for no reason
Be prepared to put in serious effort if you take this class - the professor is very tough but engaging. Unstuck study can be a helpful study tool alongside the required textbook.
He took attendance everyday, in the form of a one question quiz. You could tell by the way he would talk to his students that he was very knowledgable about psychology, but he wasn't a very nice professor. He was a tough grader, and wants you to do things his way. He does push you to your scholarly limits and tries to make you a better student.
Very arrogant professor, tests are insanely hard, and theres so much reading involved. Hes very condescending and almost every class will start the class with an angry rant about how students are not prepared to put the work in necessary to pass the class and that were gonna fail if we dont. Hes good with teaching but very rude and condescending.
Dr. Scott is a very hard professor but is one of the best I have ever had. Be prepared to put in the work, but if you pay attention and keep up with the readings you will be okay.
This is the worst class I have ever taken in my college career. Scott is very knowledgeable, but he is genuinely rude. I have never before had a professor call us "deadbeats" because we did bad on the test and "did not read the book". This is a hard class with hard content, but made even with him as your professor. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Wersinger is very knowledgeable and is very good in explaining difficult concepts to students who are initially struggling with biopsychology. He will answer any questions to the best he can if you are willing to learn. It was one of the hardest classes I have taken but the best because I learned and benefited a lot from his teachings.
Professor Scott Wersinger does his best to ensure that students will learn well by explaining concepts slowly if they are made willing to learn and is passionate about the subject. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. 70% of the course will be based on exams, so be sure to study well and clarify any doubts with him to ensure good performance.
Professor Wersinger was great. There is almost a quiz in every class at the beginning. They are 5 min (easy). You watch the movies at home and then discuss. Participation counts! He wants you to succeed. He seems intimidating at first but if you get to know him he is funny. He pays attention to grammar. Very specific on how to email him. Easy A
Workload was heavy and the professor was making it an intense module. You need to be very serious in learning in order to pass this course and get a decent grade. Dr Scott was also a great professor on the other hand as he was very patient in explaining concepts and I have learnt a lot from him. It really depends on yourself to succeed.
Lots of good things can be explained about this professor. Dr Wersinger was very helpful in consultations hours and was very cheerful and enthusiastic about helping students improve if they are willing to put in the effort to learn. Biopsychology was manageable because of him. Put in the work and you will do well. This is the way the be successful.
Dr. Scott is by far one of the best professors I've had at UB. Biopsychology was a challenging course because there was a lot of material to learn and some of the concepts were difficult to understand. However, he gave great lectures and was always willing to explain things to you after lecture or in his office hours.
You either love him or you hate him. Scott is the realest professor I've ever had. I'll be honest, I came into his class disliking him, but I realized that he's only this hard on us because he wants us to do the best he knows we can. If you put in effort, you will do well. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He's not as scary as you think! Exams are difficult tho.
I honestly don't understand the negative feedback about him. I really liked him and thought he was a great teacher. If you just do what he tells you come to class, take notes, and stay on top of the assignments you'll do well and pass. He explains things clearly and wants his students to succeed. I'd definitely take another class with him.
Cares about the success of his students. Provided multiple opportunities outside of lecture to engage with the material (brain museum tour, review sessions, etc.). Can come off as rude, but then that becomes a question of “is he offensive?” or “do you feel offended?”. Arguably subjective q's, but important in evaluation, nonetheless. Great class.
Professor Wersinger is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and creates a respectful and engaging classroom environment. His passion for teaching makes learning enjoyable and meaningful. I highly recommend his class to anyone
He is clearly a knowledgeable professor, but is incredibly rude to students. If you meet one-on-one with him, he's okay, but in class, he'll yell at students for very minute things, even yawning. It's a decently difficult course, but it's clear what you need to study.
v tough mod, so be ready to work hard. held weekly extra workshops for those willing to go; is available during and even outside of office hours. he is v particular about classroom etiquette so just be mindful abt that. can be intimidating at first but q chill 1-to-1. wld def take another mod w/ him. q a cool guy tbh. work hard and you'll be fine
I think if im being honest it really depends what class you have with him. I had a elective with where we watched movies about mental disorders and then you write down in a journal what you thought then discuss. you had some homework, but every class there will be a quiz, they are really easy. Yes he is a bit of a hard ache but he chills out.
I genuinely thought I needed to drop out after taking this class. If you take it with him, get ready to lock in only on this class and ignore all others.
I think it depends on what class you take with him because in this class he seems like a cool guy. You just watch movies and write 5-6 pages on them every few weeks + some other homework. He's hard on us + not the nicest sometimes but really he wants you to succeed and it comes from a good place. Also don't skip or come late!!!
From day one, the class felt hostile and tense. The professor expected students to already know material and made comments like “Are you guys braindead?” and “Your old professors weren't doing their job.” He frequently singled students out for not having As, yawning, or phone use, which made asking questions stressful and discouraged participation.
Honestly, he is a bit tough on students. He's very strict about certain things he considers rude or distracting, and he's very good at making you feel not smart. But as long as he sees that you're trying then you should be fine. And pay attention in lectures because the exam is heavily based on his own teachings compared to the textbook
Please rethink if you are going to take any of his courses.
