Great discussions in class. Gets the entire class involved in issues regarding what's happening in society today. Has a calm and easy demeanor. His tests are not difficult if you go to class, pay attention and study.

He's the cutest old guy you'll ever see. He's nice, not too preachy, cares about students, going to his class is worth it. When I leave I actually feel like I gained something. That doesn't happen too often, especially with gen eds.

Interesting class, u can go to class to hear some great controversial topics or not go and have a friend sign you in, tests are too easy, easy A, do the homework and you'll be fine, oh ya the presentation is easy.

Great teacher. Easy class and his lectures are good. I would recommend this guy for anything. It's almost impossible to get anything less than an A.

I took Dr.Z on a whim at the ol' County College of Morris. Best class I ever took. I was excited to learn that he was also teaching at MSU and took every class he taught. Best professor MSU has bar none.

This guy rocked. His class was easy and he was very helpful and friendly. The tests are bassed entirly off of the notes. Copy the notes and study them and you'll get an A. I had him at 8:30am, and I actually wanted to get up every morning to go to his class. Take him, you won't regret it!

this guy rocks..his class is very interesting and easy..the class discussions are very interesting..you won't like to miss any of his class..u have to write 8 reaction papers over the semester but trust me they are very easy..just read the articles and write abt it..tkae him..makes ur life easy..

Zanger is awsome. Take him and have an easy semester. 8 reactions papers on the readings, 2 exams and one presentation. That is it. Lectures are interesting and discussions are a lot of fun. Professor is really funny. TAKE HIM AND GET AN A!!!!

Attendance and class participation are weighted strongly in your grade, so show up and speak up. Do those things, and this should be one of the easiest A's you'll get at this school.

Dr. Z is awesome. Likes to show movies, but the class has great conversations and he's a funny guy. If you ace the first few exams, and have a solid A, he may just let you slide on the (sometimes) take home final!

such a nice guy! so funny! shows boring videos, but at least he's trying to make the class interesting. the class discussions were great, gives lots of notes, but helps when preparing for tests. test was kind of hard, writing out definitions and 2 essays. 8 papers the whole semester!

He's the only professor that deserves all 5's across the board. Makes you actually want to go to class! He's probably taught the same class countless times for years, but he is incredibly enthusiastic day after day. He wants you to do good and he'll definately make you smile. A true rare breed. Awesome guy.

8 reaction papers, only gotta be a page or so long and 2 tests, but all definitions. Really nice guy. i couldn't even see him mad. It very easy to get an A, just write the reactions and take the tests. The presentation wasnt that bad, except people (boneheads) in my class really asked questions at the end since he really wants people to.

one of my favorite teacher ever! He's VERY clear, there are only 3 tests and they are straight from his notes. Overall he's just FUN! He's old, but has like that "omg i want him to be my grandfather" aspect to him! He pulls the entire class into discussion. I had him at 8:30 in the morning and I woke up just for his class! I just finished his 3-week summer course. He is a cool professor--very fair, nice, and not crazy at all with the amount of work. The class consisted of discussions and videos during the class period, short readings and easy reaction papers for homework, and straighforward, right-from-the-notes tests. Def take him if you want a stress-free class!

He is really cool. He makes our discussions interesting and he allows everyone to speak. His tests are not hard because they are based on his notes and the discussions we had in class.

easiest professor. he tells you what is on the mid term and you have 8 one page papers to do about the readings. but you can hand them in any time before the mid term. you also have one oral presentation(soooo simple). and if you carry a 90 thoughout the entire semester, you dont have to take the final! AN EASY A!

Dr. Z is awesome! The class revolves around discussions which sometimes turn into fun debates. There are 10 readings you must complete and write about a pg. on each. You have the 1st half of the semester to hand in the 1st 5 and then till the final to hand in the remaining 5. Both midterm and final are in essay format.....I got a 100 on my midterm

I loved going to lecture. very caring and wants everyone to be engaged and participate. I loved everything about this class. He was easy, interesting subject, exams were cake, and not much work. Definitely take him.

Nicest guy ever! You have to right 8 short papers, but they are simple. They are on short readings- read 3(less than 10 pages) and react pretty much. 2 tests are pretty easy. Fun to go to class and hear what other people have to say. TAKE IT- TaKE HIM!

Professor Z is the man. knows his material and how to apply it to the class. Each class is always an open discussion towards real life problems. The assignments are reasonable. Write 8 papers (1 page) on your reaction towards the readings. 1 Presentation and 1 Take home exam. Highly recommended

GREAT class! Every class was fun and interesting. He gives 8 short reaction papers. I did a half of a page each and got an A. Oral presentation can be done with a partner which was sooo easy and midterm was a breeze. Final was a take home...piece of cake. I am a C student and got an A. Take this class!!!!

Sweetest old man ever. The class was mostly discussion which was always interesting. We took a few notes. 8 short reaction papers on readings which are soooo easy. The test is basically 20 definitions of key terms and 3 open ended essay questions. Fun class, the dude's got interesting life stories to tell.

THE GREATEST PROFESSOR EVER. I am taking one of his classes next semester just because he's the professor. His exams are a bit tough, but if you study, you'll be ok. You will always laugh, and class discussions are so much fun. You definitely get something out of the class. I would take his class every semester if I could. SERIOUSLY! TAKE HIS CLASS

I LOVE DR. ZANGER!! HE IS THE CUTEST, FUNNIEST 70 YR OLD GUY I HAVE EVER MET. HE MAKES YOU LAUGH AND ALWAYS KEEPS THE CLASS INTERESTING. TESTS ARE PRETTY EASY.. JUST WRITE THE KEYWORDS THAT HE PROVIDES AND WATCH THE MOVIES.. YOU'LL I HAD HIM FOR TWO SOCIOLOGY COURSES.. AND THE MATERIAL OVERLAPPED WHICH MADE IT EASIER. DO FINE.. DR.Z... UR THE BEST!

I took his 3-week presession class over the summer, and he was so good that I'm taking a follow-up course just because he's teaching it (and so far, so good). He actually wants to know your perspective as one of his students, as opposed to being able to reiterate information. Two tests, and 8 two-page papers, and he always gets the class talking.

I'm still taking him, and he is by the far the BEST professor I've ever had. You read interesting SHORT stories in your book for hw, write your reactions, discuss them in class- AND THAT'S IT! He cares very much on your own opinion. He's an older gentleman yet still a very well-rounded, funny, modern day man. I PROMISE, you will LOVE this class!

Really nice and good guy. He knows a lot about his subject and always helps the class start conversations. The class is not too boring and it is not really hard. The papers and readings are easy to keep up with.

He is extremely nice and interested in what he's teaching. Class participation is big but he makes it easy for you to participate. You have to read a decent amount and write reaction papers on the readings (8 papers) but it's always on interesting topics. His exams aren't bad either.. just study.

I rated him on 9/09 and his soci-113 class is even better than the 100 class. You'll learn a lot but will still have enough time to do your other classwork. You need to define 20 words and two essay questions for the midterm, 8 2-page reaction papers, one 10-15 minute presentation and one take home essay (about 4 or 5 pages). Definitely worth it.

Take this class. Teacher is extremely nice. His work is not hard at all. Had a Take home final and the mid-term was pretty easy, all you have to do is study. reaction papers are due like every week isnt very demanding as to when you have to hand them in though, but do them. One of the easiest teachers overall.

His class is easy. There are reaction papers due every week and there is a midterm. My final was take home, and it isn't hard at all. The lectures were interesting and he engaged the class. There is a project, but you can work in pair and he only cares if you mention the three sociological perspectives. People should def. take him!

Must take his class. i just loved his class and if i would have another chance to take his class i would not leave his class and will take again. One of th best professors I've had so far. He's so nice and easy. Lots of class discussions which can get very interesting and requires very easy work from you. Just 1 paper per topic, 2 tests, and a presentation. Highly reccomended.

GREAT CLASS, AMAZING PROFESSOR. Even if you're not a sociology major, do not graduate without taking this man. You'll walk out of there with tons of useful knowledge and it's one class and one professor that you'll never forget. DEF recommend.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! he's so sweet and for 72 years old he's still got it. my favorite class by far, however, there are 9 reaction papers that can be time consuming because you have to read the chapter and the article and compare the two, but you'll always get full credit and if not you can redo them. 3 tests, take this class!

Zanger is a model example of what a college instructor should be. If all professors could teach like him then everybody would get straight A's. The class itself is an easy A and very low stress. It's just mass memorization and reaction papers for each chapter. Wish I took it for the full semester instead of the pre-session. Highly Recommend!

Prof. Zanger was one of my favorite teachers this semester. There is only 8 reaction papers a power point and 2 test (A midterm and a take home test). Even though he is old he keeps the class going. I would recommend anyone to take this class He is amazing and it is an easy A.

Professor Z is so sweet. what we do in class is just talking about our lives relating to the stories we read. His class is very interacted. we just have one midterm, take home final exam and a group project. I enjoyed his class. I definitely recommend you to take him!

Dr. Z is the sweetest, cutest old man you'll ever meet. The funniest, easiest, professor by far. All this class is, is talking about your stories with one another, your opinions, and it is very interactive with one another. There is an assigned reaction paper once a week from readings in your text book- VERY easy, and a very easy grader. Love!

Professor Zanger is so cute and funny. He isn't afraid to speak his mind which makes for funny class discussions. Papers are easy but the exams aren't the easiest. I would say average, open ended. So definitely expect to study for those. Very knowledgable and he makes students feel comfortable and encourages students to open up and be real.

Dr. Z is an amazing professor, but very hard to get a hold of him. He expects 8 2page reflection papers per semester, which is tedious but he's an easy grader. His test are all based on his notes, readings, and movies watched in class.. VERY EASY IF YOU STUDY!

Professor Z is the best! One of the greatest classes ive taken at MSU. he is very sweet and caring of his students. You have 8 papers total (2pgs each) on readings. They are super simple &he never gives anyone a bad grade. There are 3 tests, and he reviews before each one. Make sure to take his notes!! The conversations we have as a class are great

Absolutely adored him! He's so sweet and is one of the best teachers I've had at MSU. 3 assignments, 3 definition/essay exams (exempt from final if you have a 90+ on all exams/papers), 1 field project. Professor Zanger is so sweet, the class is an easy A if you show up to every class and participate. There are 3 tests where he just gives you the word and you need to write out the definitions and answer a few short answers but it is easy if you study there are also papers where you respond to reading, also easy. One of the best professors at MSU. Lots of readings but always interesting. He cares more about the class discussions which can be about anything related to the topic. This class was so much fun and as long as you copy the notes (he uses an old fashion projector and paper) you will do well on the midterm and final. TAKE HIM! EASY AND YOU'LL LOVE IT

He is 100% the best professor at Montclair. Class consists of mostly discussion, and he gives real life examples and goes into depth on a lot of topics, but always explains them easily. The class is very easy, just show up, take notes, read the books, and participate and you'll get an A.

You will not regret taking this class with this professor. He cares about his students and enjoys having an open discussion. All you have to do is submit reaction papers on simple readings weekly, but it is easy. There are three exams. His class is interesting and all you have to do is show up. He was adorable!

Professor Zanger is the best. I took him two semesters in a row. Theres chapter tests about once a month. It is all definitions and two short responses. If you pay attention in class and write down all the notes he gives you then you will pass. He is the sweetest man and really cares about his students.

The best and sweetest professor. Very easy to talk to and Lets everyone voice their opinions on topics and has great class discussions. Not a lot of workload, just take notes so you are ready for the exams and reaction papers. If you have the chance to, take this professor!

Dr. Zanger is super awesome. I love him. For homework you only really have short readings and 4 papers. The midterm and final were open notes and so easy. Class is more of an open discussion and I actually looked forward to going. He tells you to get two textbooks but we only used "Down To Earth Sociology" so you don't need to get the other one.

professor zanger is a very sweet old man. he wants the class to participate while he lectures and he will tell you what's on the midterm and final beforehand. only 3 reaction papers and 2 exams. super easy to follow him in class and is super respectful. easiest class i've had this semester.

Dr. Zanger is honestly the best professor at MSU. He's essentially a sweet old man who genuinely cares about his students. His classes are formatted in class discussions and lectures. Your grade is based upon 3 "reactions papers," a midterm, and a final. He also grades incredibly lenient and you could get away with turning something in late.

The best professor at MSU, hands down. Easiest class I have had all semester. He's a sweet old man and so understanding. You don't need the 'Core' book. The only thing I would say is if you need to email him, allow at least 24-28 hours before you get your response.

Prof Zanger was amazing. He was extremely understanding of any circumstances and was flexible. You have to participate in his class for credit. A very easygoing guy all around. There is a good amount of reading, but it is interesting. My only complaint is that he never posts grades, but I think that is due to him not knowing how to use Canvas.

I loved sociology with Dr. Z.! You can tell that he is very knowledgeable about the subject and he has a passion for it. The coursework was very light compared to my other classes, as long as you were present, did the homework readings, and participated. I looked forward to this class every week, highly recommend!
