This guy is great. I took him this summer and did not put any efforts in this class but still got an A. He is kind of a cool guy. Just read the concepts from the study guide that he hands out before the exam, you will get an A. The most important part of the exam is listening portion. You need to be familiar with those songs from the study guide. A

don't know what all these people are crying about. the class might be long but this class is easy just studay from the guide he gives. i never opened the book and A's his class. everyone can A's his class even my dog can. Take him easy A and u will fulfill the art requirement.

I just took his class in Section 1 n I got an A extream easily. His exams' questions are very straight, he won't fool you. Just study his study guide and remember to write down the key words in the board. I didn't pay too much effort studying n i still got 46/50. Of course, this is music appreciation class and he will play the CD/Video frequently.

boring class, boring teacher, boring everything. Only thing good about this class is that you can sleep and still get an A. I especially like it when he turns of the lights to watch a music movie, i can sleep really good. I guess this class is bad for snorers. Test are straight foward, just study the studyguide. This is a terrific class! I learned so much. Scott Zeidel is one of the best instructors on campus. I disagree totally with some of the negative comments written about him. They say more about the students who wrote them than about this wonderful instructor. He's a gem. He really knows his stuff.

I loved Scott. He's really funny. This class was a breeze. The early music is really boring. Once you pass that it's better. Have to go to one classical music performance and write a short paper about it. Went to the hollywood bowl and actually had fun. Scott's really cool. I loved him. I took class second summer session 2006. Got an A.

Scott is very easy!! You can say you never need a book except for the reading quiz. The test is exactly the same as on the study guide. As long as you show up and study before the test, an very very easy A you will get.

I got B.If you want to get A, come on time listent what he say, take notes, study the study guides and get the CD.On the 2nd test hafl of the test is listening test and you should know the composers,tittle,and the gender.He will make you to watch a show and write a report.It is hard need to use those vocab words;I got B. You have2work ur butt off.

Scott is the best professor down to earth! He's so niceee! His class is easy but makes you learn a lot.I got an A+! He knows his materials well. There are 5 quizzes, 1 concert report and 3 exams. All you need is to go to class on time, because he stresses on attendence. Take him for a g. grade and im sure you'll hv great time with him!

He is the best professor that i have ever taken. His class was so easy. The only thing you have to is study his study guide and listen to the cd. you can get easy A or B if you study the study guide. If you attend every class and be there on time, he'll give you extra credit (easy 20 points). Attendance is 50 points and the quizes are sooo easy (50 points all together).The class can a little boring, but the professor is so sweet and funny.

Awesome teacher! a good way to study is to rip the music out of the cd and shuffle them so you can recall what is the song.

really cool teacher only gives 10 minute breaks during a 3 hour class. study guides give answers to the tests. reading quizzes are really easy. always the same question. TAKE HIM.

I sat at the front so i wouldn't get distracted, but this guy manages to put me to sleep. He's really nice & his class is easy, but i just wanted to walk out every time he lectured.The book covers what he lectures in a much more interesting way. Scott knows and loves and breathes his music. This class is so easy you simply have to do the readings for the quizzes and memorize everything in the detailed study guide he gives you for exams. You also have to show up to class everyday because attendance affects your grade a lot. Scott is a great guy.

Scott is very boring, no lie. but his class is very easy. reading quizzes are free points. just read over study guide before test and memorize the first 30 seconds of each song and you will get an A. This is a really easy class. The bad side though this class was super boring. Don't buy the new edition of the textbook. Try to get the older one cuz you only need the book for reading quizzes. What is on the study guide is exactly what is on the test. Straight memorization class. Fulfill the arts & humanities area to transfer.

Attendance is a huge part of the grade. Book is used for reading quizzes, so recommended you get a copy. Just study the study guides and memorize the intros of the songs on the CD for the test. If you're okay at memorization, this class is an easy A.

Very monotone, sorta mellow to the point where you wanna knock out. No electronics in class, attendance a huge chunk of your grade. Book mandatory for reading quizzes, for the music during test, just know to remember the first 20 seconds of each track he asks for, and the style. MUSIC 13 with Zeidel was a piece of cake. His class is very straight-forward. As long as you are responsible in studying his study guides, which is exactly like the tests/finals, you are guaranteed an A on them. DO NOT MISS HIS CLASS. It will greatly affect your grade. Attending class & enduring his under zealous lessons will pay off in the end. :)

Dont take him for a night class because you will fall a sleep. He talks in one pitch and it makes you want to sleep. He's a nice guy and knows a lot about music, I got a B without ever reading the book or studying the study guide. Scott is a cool dude. We don't have any writing homework just reading assignments. Do the readings because you'll have quizzes on it. Yes, that means you have to buy the book. The tests are easy if you memorize the study guide. He gives great study guides as well. And there's a page concert report. YOU MUST GO TO CLASS.

Scott is awesome. By the way don't call him Professor or Mr Zeidel...just Scott. He is laid back and loves what he does. Don't slack off, read your book, take notes in class and PLEASE don't be rude and use your phone:he WILL call you out on it. Attendance is a must, and so is paying attention.

EASY teacher. You MUST attend (you get attendance points). Class is boring, makes you sleep, you will get caught sleeping. Do NOT take it on a Friday (you will die of boredness); take it as a 2 day/week instead. This class got me into classical music too, so it's not all that bad. Exams are very easy. study the study guide and get an A. he randomly give away exam questioins during the lecture to reward these who pay close attention. Book is needed for quizzes. Cd is needed for the listening since the songs on youtubes may vary from the original pieces that are on the exam. Over all, easy class with a passionate professor.

Professor Zeidel is a great professor. His classes are extremely boring, especially the night classes. He does not tolerate teeing, so if you do fit in the back. He gives study guides for every test. so make sure you study those because everything on the study guide will be on the test. I recommend him!

Scott is a good professor. Really passionate about classical music. No final, 3 MC Test, 5 reading quizzes that are written, and a 2 page concert report. Attendance is part of your grade you lose 10points for every day missed. Don't be late either. There is a lot of Scott talking and a lot of musical videos and music listening.

Scott is a chill dude. His class allowed me to appreciate Classical music. I actually listen to it quite often now. Some of the music periods in the beginning (Medieval,Renaissance) sounded absolutely awful to me and I'd have to step out for a bit because the music would literally give me migraines. Stick it out, it gets better. Highly recommended.

Show up to class. It's boring at times but the class is an easy A. Scott is quite the character. I took it over winter quarter so it was pretty fast paced. For tests you will have to know the author and title of some musical pieces he will play in class. This class is pure memorization.

Scott is a nice guy but he is a bit monotone. The material is very dry, boring, and makes it hard to study it. He gives 5 reading quizzes. You have to read the book because you can't bs it. I've read many books throughout my college career and this is by far the most boring book I've come across. Wish I would've taken a different class!

This guy is pretty funny. Everything is clear, he answers all questions. The class is the easy! You must show up to pass; the class is so easy he needed to make attendance important to pass. Easy A, but heads up, the class is BORING! I honestly sometimes dreaded having to show up. 2 tests, and some quizzes which are also easy; show up and pass.

This class is super EASY. Even for foreign students, u don't need to study so hard, and u can get an A. This man is very professional in music, and he makes all the things very easy to understand. 5 reading quizzes, and 3 tests. As long as u paying attention to the class, u won't fail it.

He is a really funny person, I took summer term so that almost have quiz every two days, and you need to read 25+ pages for textbook in one night because next day you will have quiz. But I still recommend him because I really like classical music right now.

Overall a very good instructor. A bit long winded but eventually he gets to the point and you will learn something. Don't skip class. Ever. You'll regret it when test day rolls around and he plays song you've never heard. BTW does anyone remember the textbook name? More importantly what was the one Philip Glass song? Really really want to know...
