Pompous, Obnoxious, ****. Easy class but you will learn NOTHING. Half of his math questions are wrong. His science is beyond weak. Obviously resents teaching at Fullerton & thinks he should be a world class researcher.
Most work 4 OnCampus class is online. 200k worth of emails in semester. Lots of reading. Plenty opportunity 4 extra credit. issuing of class assignments unclear @ first. Helpful in person, not email. www.oceansonline.com (class web).
Sean is very helpful as well as entertaining, he will go out of his way to work with you
easy a class, but you wont learn anything from it!!
Hes cool but need more help with the subject.
Easy to get A
online class is a mistake. Very hard to understand. lets u retake the quizzes over and over but not the tests. the tests are averaged and you only get three chances to score
WARNING!! DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
He's a goood professor. Love him. Easy class. Easy A. Take him and the course is soo fun. You get to volunteer at aqarium of the pacific which i found to be really really fun. <3
for teleweb he makes you watch self-promoting videos which he spoke on only one episode...completely boring and you learn nothing
Took his online class and it was more group work than anything. Don't think it was as effective. If you have a slacker in the group, you do 2x the work. You'll have to have as much time as a regular class or more to take this online. Hard to balance.
anyone who says sean is this killer teacher is an idiot. he does not demand you become oceanography majors, just appreciate the subject and use it to complete your general ed. just get to know him by email, show him you care, and you will learn a lot
This guy is a jerk-and I got an A in his class. Saw him repeatedly pick on people for asking questions. Learned next to nothing about what I was interested in,just about him.
There are so many chances for points and he drops assignment, quizzes and an exam. go to class and you will understand the exams. i got a 102 % in the class, so if you ned to borrow points let me know. oh, and by the way, he drops the bar for an A to 85%, what more can you ask for.do the quizzes!
i took his online class, very very easy, i never bought a book, but you gotto read the study guide, or the worksheet that he provided, unlimited times taking the quiz, but gotto write discussions pretty easy, i would take him again
This is so far the easiest online class of oceanography i've taken in fullerton college. Just do the readings and you'll do totally fine in his class.
This teacher is a little conceited and teaches you absolutely nothing (which i dont really care about since i hate science), but he IS a nice guy. Take his class for an easy A. Group projects suck, so make sure you do most of it yourself because the other idiots won't.
Funny and nice guy very easy class, practically hands you an A or B. Lectures are sort of boring, but it doesn't matter because the class is SO EASY. Homework consists of 1st grader type worksheets, you can retake the quizzes over and over, tons of ex-credit, and open note/book tests.
super easy. lectures are kinda boring, but its mainly from the chapters. he has a dry humor most students don't get. he's actually a really nice guy and home work is in class. unlimited times you can retake quizes. open everything on exams. EASY.
Had him in esc and did not learn anything , boring class, most of the stuff is online, we had two midterms online and final online, can take quizzes unlimited times. However he´s a nice guy, and very easy, got an A even though I did not deserve it,sadly enough, the average grade in the class was F
i took the online course over the summer and it was SO EASY! take the quizzes unlimited times and all the test questions come from the quizzes. participation assignments are actually fun to do because you get to reply to other people's posts. there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A in this class. TAKE IT!!
REALLY easy class IF you make sure you do the online quizzes. (It's easy to forget!) It's nearly impossible not to get an A or B. The downside is that you won't learn anything. The lectures are vague and boring, but at least he always lets you leave early! He is cocky and sarcastic, but a cool guy overall.
One of the easiest classes in the world!! You do not even have to take any of the exams to get an A in the class. He offers so many extra credit field trips that this class is pretty much a guaranteed A. Fun class with lots of in class activities.

TAKE THE ONLINE CLASS!! its way better, all he does in class is talk about stuff having nothing to do with the test. and all the test and homework is online anyway!
just have to take quize, midterm, final online...& relax no hard work, as it is an open book.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND ONLINE CLASS ONLY! QUIZZES ARE BASED ON ON-LINE PRACTICE QUIZZES. CAN EASILY GET AN "A" IF YOU JUST DO THE WRITING ASSIGNMENTS AND COMPLETE EXAMS. HE LETS YOU DROP ONE EXAM; IN FACT, I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL AND GOT AN A IN THE CLASS. TALKED TO OTHER STUDENTS--DON'T TAKE HIS ON CAMPUS CLASS THOUGH.
Do not take this class. He has practice quizzes available online to help you study for the exam but decides a week before the exam is due not to have them available until after the exam???? Why do you need a practice quiz AFTER the exam??? He knows his stuff but is a TERRIBLE teacher.
this teacher doesn't help at all. if you have questions and ask him he will not answer them. the exams have nothing to do qith the study guides
I recommend that if you like teaching yourself take him. Hes horrible sorry. His tests are out there for you to fail! but on the plus side he curves his grades in the end. so really u do horribly and end up with a C.
He definitely knows his stuff. His honors Oceanography class is heavily research-based, which is why I liked it. Although I must say, if your writing isn't that strong, it's going to be hell. His exams are very tough. You almost have to know Oceanography beforehand. If your writing is strong and you like research, by all means take him.
I took his online class. Every week you had to read an article and then answer 5 questions in detail(250 words or more) then you had to respond to 2 other students answers(100words or more). At times the article was long and horrible. No late assignments. TESTS ARE VERY,VERY HARD!!!for online class, you have to go on campus for 2 exams.
terrible God-complex, started out with practice quizzes that helped the first week, but once some people complained that the answers were different than the book, he took the practice quizzes away instead of fixing them, making the class 10x harder. thinks way too highly of himself. do NOT take him!
His online class is really really hard. It seems like the "timed" quizes are filled with questions that will take you the whole time limit to figure out the answer to one. The questions are ridiculously difficult and I am an A student. I could not see anyone getting higher than an C in the class.
I found this class to be very disorganized. His book wasnt printed yet and was in the form of a packet that wasnt complete and didnt have the images in it. Not all of the corrisponding images could be found on the site provided. The directions were not clear enough on what you were suppose to do as well.
WOW. I am a smart person, and this class made me feel like an idiot. Hello?! Wasn't it supposed to be INTRODUCTION to OCEANOGRAPHY...yeah, I was lost.
sean was an interesting professor. entertaining stories to keep you awak but confusing lectures and formulas were hard to follow along with. homework assignments required you go out and surf the web to find the correct formulas to solve the problems. wasnt much of an intro to oceanography. not sure of my overall experiance. was not easy thats4sure
Do not take him unless you think you can read his mind. The website is complete disorganized! there is no guide to where things are. I missed a project because he, maybe, mentioned it once in the syllabus but never said anything after that. Interesting subject matter but there's no way to retain much of it. Assignments are easy, do them! Beware!
useless
i'm not a science major, therefore thought it would be fun. Nope. Really hard class, i had a tough time. struggled a lot. would recomend a different teacher unless you love science. nice guy, but very HARD class
I was very interested in the subject before I went in. Didn't last long. Interesting material but all the workload turned me off. Some worksheets and exploration activities took hours to complete. He can be very arrogant at times and say things that are completely unnecessary. Hard class, not an intro, should be a five unit class for all the time.
DO NOT take him for online oceanography. Not only is the class hard but you're constantly being marked wrong when the answers are correct. I've had to email him several times already. Some quiz questions will sometimes be from other chapters when it's supposed to be on a certain chapter, images won't show up. I can't wait for this class to be over.
I have never posted on ratemyprofessor before, but this is the most unfair prof I have ever had. It is an online class, so no lecture. I answered a quiz question with an answer straight out of the textbook and I got it wrong. When I emailed him asking why, he said that the textbook (that he wrote!) had a typo and he would not give me credit!!!
If you are good at ocean, then take it.If you like to challenge yourself, then take it. He replies your email within 10-20 minutes. The best way to get good grades on tests is hooking with your classmates because you wont get all right answers from the pro.Overall, I had a hard time.He is professional on the field, but not teaching. Essay is strict.
Very challenging class especially online version. Tests are very difficult. If you like Chemistry or Physics and the ocean then this is the class for you. Professor knows his stuff and is very knowledgeable about Oceanography.
This teacher does NOT help his students succeed, instead he tricks them on test. It does not matter how many times you read HIS material, the book being one of them, you will not find the answer. In addition, you MUST buy his book, so this guy is making money on both ends..... should not be allowed, shame on Fullerton College for allowing it.
His class is extremely difficult. It does not matter how much you study, it is impossible. STAY AWAY!
This class is impossible. This professor is an absolute joke. Don't take this guy...he is terrible at teaching and just belittles you the whole class period.
This guy is a total jerkwad. I took his online Meteorology class because I thought that it would be fun and interesting. I was dead wrong. It's insane-tons of reading which jump around all over the book and the homework/tests don't even really relate to the material. It's supposed to be an intro level class but it's ridiculously hard. It's crazy.
His on-line class is extremely hard. He never claifies information. I had a 4.0 GPA- not any more. This class should be a basic gen. ed but feels more like an upper division honors class. DO NOT take unless you are prepared to spend all your time devoted to this subject only. WHY is he still a teacher??!!
worst experience ever, DONT take him to meet your GE, he expects you to know every little details, ridiculous amount of reading and assignments, He jumps around from chapter to chapter, no studyguides, tests consist of stuff werent covered in text lecture, thought this class gonna be interesting, but he really made an effort to make me hate science
Have you ever had a professor who makes learning very enjoyable? well he is NOT one of them, I am a science/biology major, but his class made me reconsider, his tests are impossible, I think he gets a kick out of making students feel stupid, maybe thats the only way he can feel good about himself,
Chamberlin makes it very interesting to learn about oceanography. I learned so much from his class and i am forever thankful!
Avoid this guy at all costs! His online oceanography class demands every minute of your life. The homework, crosswords, and extra reading he tells you to study for on exams is useless as he just attempts to throw you completely off on the questions as he tries to intentionally fail you. Why is this guy still allowed to teach?
HARD CLASS. I will echo what many others have. This is NOT an intro class. This class seams like it is a 400 level senior year major class. The teacher also has a very confusing textbook that HE wrote and sometimes the answers are not in the chapter they are supposed to be. He seamed nice but he was not very clear. Take another science prof. for GE
hmmm where do i start.. the semester when is started was made to seem that it was going to be easy and that we were going to learn alot.. but it turned out to be really hard.. overall it is a OK class if your really into these things
very challenging in the beginning of the course, but dont give up, bcuz if you stick around til the end, and show that you put in the effort, you will receive a good grade.
This is not an easy GE class, but he makes that clear at the beginning of the year. You have to work for your grade, but if you don't give up you'll get a good grade. This class was hard, but I learned a lot. If your looking for an easy pass GE class, don't take this class, but if your actually interested in learning this is a good class.
Chose online Meteorology to fulfill science requirement, class included much more. Discovered and learned more than I ever expected. This Prof. is passionate about his subjects, uses text & web. Made class fun, online chats with celebs., extra credit opportunities. If you do the work, be positive, you'll do fine. Good Prof. & fair grading.
I wanted to take this class and ignored the already bad comments he had- DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He is arrogant, degrading, and his grading scale makes no sense. I got one A, one C and 4 B's on the exams and I'm getting a C in the class. You can't negotiate or talk with this prof.- he just won't listen and tell you to "get out of Orange County."
Took the online class, the assignments are easy and related to the enviornment. The tests were extremely difficult but you can take the tests 3 times (with some different and some of the same questions) and he drops a test grade. Reading the book is crucial, and take the flash quizzes he provides
I took this class online&it was great! I hadn't taken an online class b4. He provided all the tools necessary 4 me to succeed, such as practice quizzes. He posted interesting articles & videos & stimulated class participation. The textbook he co-authored, was 1 of the best tools. He allows 3 attempts 4 the tests. He was always available thru email.
He is very nice. Just beware of video projects, they are a little difficult. If someone in your group bales and they have the project on their computer and the disk is unreadable he will not let you reshoot. He is the co author of the book so he is tough when it comes to the tests, and midterm. Take advantage of the field trips.
Know his stuff but is not very good at teaching it. Has very hard tests.
Really cool guy, odd sense of humor, can be a bit... pernicious at times. But knows subject matter well, and is the coauthor of the req'd text book. Its EXTREMELY important that you read ALL extra readings and the book. He expects you to KNOW the material, he gives study guides for the tests, DOWNFALL: requires a clicker that'll never be used again
he's very helpful but the class is all about the clickers and group work. HARD TESTS & STUDY GUIDES.
HORRIBLE TEACHING, I ADVISE YOU NOT TO TAKE HIM!!! ITS A BAISIC OCEANOGRAPHY CLASS AND HE ACTS LIKE ITS THE ONLY CLASS YOUR TAKING AND THE ONLY IMPORTANT ONE, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT AN ONLINE CLASS, HE PRETENTDS LIKE IT IS AND COMPLAINES ALL DAY LONG, ALL DAY!! HE DOESNT TEACH, JUST MAKES YOU BUY HIS EXPENSIVE BOOK AND YOU TEACH YOURSELF!
This class is very interesting, sean knows what he is talking about!
Excellent & intense. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT!
I have no idea what people are talking about, Chamberlin is the WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! Our whole class was doing so poorly that he gave us 300 extra points just for not withdrawaling from his class.
I thought he was an amazing teacher. He's really into what he teaches. He wrote the book he uses for the class. I'm always happy to go to class. I find the material very easy, you use the book for activitys and do the tests online. I highly recommend him.
I took the online class and it wasn't difficult. There is definitely a lot of work though, but that's what I expected. At least one assignment and test every week, along with a PSA video requirement at the end of the semester. I would recommend it if you're interested in the subject. It's really easy if you do the reading.
oceanography (online) - academically challenging and robust class, but one that is ultimately designed to insure student success (if you do your share) - learned a ton -- had a blast -- invites your emails and answers your questions immediately -- extremely helpful, encyclopedic knowledge, and focused on student achievement - take him & learn lots!
Took oceanography online. The class structure was pretty challenging. Don't expect to memorize vocabulary and pass the tests. He makes sure you understand the concepts. If you put in the effort, you'll definitely be able to get an A and learn a lot. He's a very helpful teacher though; responds to emails almost instantaneously.
If you have learning disabilities or have any kind of difficulty in school and you do the work, don't take this class on-line... the 5 week class is ridiculous. Crazy amount of HW and lots of looking up stuff online. you will need about 30 hrs extra per week to pass this class. exams ?'s are 1/2 looked up online not in the book.
Took online class over summer. Intense, but super interesting. Take the quizzes as many times as it takes- you have unlimited tries, and then all of the information on the tests is from those quizzes. 3 tries for exams too. use the book website- do matching with the flashcards for all your vocab. Great teacher-passionate and like-able.
(Summer session) Very interesting material taught. However, the assignments are often difficult and time consuming. You can definitely do well if you read the text multiple times. Research paper required. Exams can be taken up to three times.
I took his class online and it was pretty easy if u take with friends. The assignemtns were pretty hard and you have to spend lots of time on it. the tests were easy as long as u did lots of practice quizs.we didnt have final for his class cuz he said we did well on that class but we did have research paper which was worth 23% of all the grade.

Good: Sense of humor and enthusiasm about subject. Bad: Online class very confusing. The chapters, study notes, and exams didn't coincide. He would often test us on material that we hadn't read yet and expect us to know it because it was somewhere in the book. Note: If he assigns a PowerPoint/video project, don't procrastinate!
It is fun to learn Oceanography from him because he is very enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. Never have I ever taken a class where the Prof. was actually the author of the text!! He is amazing!
Omg, of all of the classes I've had (I'm 3 from degree), the online course was the most homework, busy work (an insane journal entry noting hours of observations in the wild outdoors???really?) to say the least, this class took 4x the time my others did - not difficult, I read and tested well, but the journal every other day is ridiculous!!
I took this course online and found it to be a lot more work than any of my on-site classes. His journal assignments were useless busy work and his tests frequently seemed to include things we didn't learn. All tests/quizzes were online except for the midterm and final, which was a pain. Overall I don't recommend this class/teacher.
Worst teacher I have ever had talked more about his addiction to alcohol and being in AA more then actually teaching his test are not what is on his practice exams.
He is very honest when he says that his class is not easy. The tests are VERY difficult, make sure to use study guides. Ask him questions, he will help! Work hard and study and you will pass. Easy to listen to him lecture, he is very dedicated to what he does and his love of the ocean. Pretty cool guy to chat with.
Mr.Chamberlin was a great guy, he definitely cares about his students and is more than willing to answer any questions. Just pay attention, take your notes, and read. If you can do that you'll be just fine.
Great instructor and great class! I took this class online during summer and it was great! I learned a lot and got an easy A. I love the ocean so the required reading was very enjoyable for me. Some of the test questions are rather tricky, but I did not struggle. I highly recommend Professor Chamberlin! This course answered many of my own questions
I took his online class. The tests were quite simple, but the homework and projects were difficult and not always explained correctly.
This was one of the worst teachers i have ever had and i took him online. He is rude, self centered and doesn't care about whether you pass his class or not. his guidelines for assignments were very confusing. I do not recommend that you take his class, EVER
Super fair guy. GET THE BOOK w/o it test will be impossible! All around fair professor. 5-6 small essay < 1 page, easy reply points, test are ALL TAKE HOME multiple choice with some fill in blank and word problems. Oceanography is boring but he loves it and tries to keep it relevant and interesting. Shows some cool videos for certain chapters
AVOID at ALL costs. His lectures are unorganized, jumps back and forth from slide to slide. The hypocrite complains about the educational system while offering poor lectures. Tests are hard, essays are easy. Occasionally funny. Is condescending. The textbook which he co-wrote is equally confusing, and has never been revised.
He is a very fair teacher. This class will make you work but hes overall fair. He gives four tests two which are take home exams. Do all of the essays and responses for easy points and you must attend class. This lectures and videos are all on the test. As long as you do the study guides you will be fine
Horrible teacher, even worse person. Lectures are a jumbled mess where he switches between slides. Tests are extremely difficult and long. His textbook which he wrote is extremely tough to understand and he admits it has errors. Spends every day complaining about education/teachers then rushes through his terrible lecture. AVOID!!!
He's really sarcastic and good sense of humor. His lectures are boring though. Tons of videos. No homework, 2 tests in class 2 tests take home. Curves grades at the end of semester!
He is a horrible teacher he belittles his students and basically think the whole class is stupid does not explain things right and students didnt want to ask questions because he would just call you stupid if you didnt get his material, tests were long and difficult DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
I am really surprised with the previous comments. In my class, he had the class laughing all the time in all the class meetings. This professor really loves teaching this class and he cares about his students' futures. Work hard and you will do great. It is an interesting subject and he's great at teaching it.
This teacher takes himself way too seriously. This is Oceanography and he is trying to make it harder than it needs to be. He's not very helpful when problems arise and has an arrogant tone when e-mailing back and forth. 2 quizzes a week is just absurd, especially when there are take home exams as well as on-site exams.
I have him online and all his comments are so condescending. He is the worst
Took the honors version and it was literally the same thing as regular haha. Idk why he has such a low rating he is one of the best professors ive ever had. The tests were super easy...he posted the test online before he gave it in class LOL! Overall a great class and would totally recommend him to anybody.
Lots of work and no educational value in what he teaches.
don't take him. he's extremely condescending. this class was a bore, and nothing we learned in class was actually worth learning; every lecture came down to global warming. makes you write essays, and he comments as to how crappy your writing is. ex: he would say to use the word elevate instead of enhance WHEN THEY CLEARLY HAVE DIFF MEANINGS!dnt tk
WORST TEACHER EVER. He constantly switches between slides, constantly whines about the education system. He's extremely condescending and provides no help to students who have questions or difficulty understanding the material. His tests are over 100 questions and the book which he wrote so hard to understand. Avoid him at all costs!
Chamberlin is a very helpful teacher and really does his best to make sure that you are able to receive as many points as possible. Do the online quizzes and take good notes in class and you'll be fine. Midterm and final were super easy because it was the answers from the online quizzes. Overall, he is a great teacher.
The notes posted online are easy to understand, but when it comes to the quizzes and exams, they are completely different that it does not make sense. Do not take his class, especially online!!!! You will be confused the whole time.
Confusing misleading informations ! Unprofessional patronizing tone during lectures .... Lot of off topic nonsense
There is a quiz each week that is 35 questions (you can take an unlimited amount of times). Quizzes are hard and inconsistent with notes provided by professor. I did NOT buy the textbook that he wrote himself because it is crazy expensive, and I still got a B. Midterm and final are on campus and are very difficult. Do not take this class.
Weekly quizzes, you can take them as many times as you want. Mid-term and final are on campus, he gives you a practice quiz which is literally an exact copy as the actual exam. I did not buy the book and finished with an 79% which is a B in his class because his grading scale is 85%+ A, 75%+ B, and so on. He is all about tech use in school. Cool
If you are not good at math I would not recommend taking this course. When I asked him for help with the math portion, he just repeated my question back to me and asked me what the formulas were, even though that was what I was asking him. The other portions of the class are not that difficult just the math which is not basic as he says.
Greatest Teacher ever!!! If you want an easy "A". Quizzes you can retake! I wish all the Professor would work like him. He curves grades too!!!! I loved him , I laugh a lot and he is very interesting.Come on guys nothing can be easier than a class where you can retake quizzes. TAKE HIS CLASS and work hard. it is an Interesting class!!!
Very Easy course. I would have made an A vs. B had I not had my own internet issues with Blackboard. You can take every quiz and exam multiple times. My only qualm was that it took forever for him to update grades after each assignment. I thought it was easy considering I took the class during a 7 week summer session.
He's there to help his students. He definitely tries to get you to learn the material instead of memorizing it. You have one quiz a week that you can take a few times, highest grade counts. Exams aren't terribly difficult but they do require studying. Four essays in the semester but not difficult. Great teacher.
A very funny teacher. Is always goofing around with students, giving them a hard time. Just don't be an idiot. The online quizzestests are a breeze with the study materials provided online. The class is very easy to pass; however, he isn't the best teacher. He doesn't always cover all the material on the quizes, but the answers are easily googled!
I had the pleasure taking his class but he makes you work hard in his class. You can't and should NOT miss a class session! It hurts you badly. Overall, he loves what he teaches. If you are lazy and need an easy A, don't take him. He wants you to think outside the box and explore what is around the world aka ocean.
Chamberlin is VERY smart, and knowledgable in the subject of oceanography... However, he is very unclear with what he wants out of students. He often times tests on subjects we've never covered in class before. Makes you feel stupid when you ask questions, and rarely answers them wout saying "look in your book." Tests are TOUGH, you must study.
This was actually one of my favorite classes this semester. In the beginning of the semester you choose a partner and they become your quiz buddy. This was very helpful to me and my partner we balanced each other out . He does do most of his lecturing on videos that he posts along with lecture notes which are awesome. There is a lot of work .
Chamberlin offers replacement assignments for ones that you didn't do so well on. You have partner quizzes every week so pick your partner carefully. Make a study group with the class, it'll help. Make sure to take a lot of notes! 1 midterm and 1 cumulative final! Do not take if you have a heavy load but it is possible to still get an A. My goal!
This was such difficult class. He lived and breathed oceanography and wanted his students to as well. If you didn't he made you feel dumb.
Hard class! Not aproachable.
Choose your partner carefully and be ready for every class.
He literally has everything he expects in his syllabus. If you do what he tells you, you will get the grade you deserve. He has office hours and replies to email super fast. He loves the subject he teaches and makes lecture fun. I am terrible at math and was afraid before taking this class (I placed in Math 40) but I went to the SI and it helped.
About half the class either dropped or failed. because the class is basically self taught since he believes we need to "learn how to learn." Most of the semester he talked about global warming, which is a very important issue, but none of this was on our exams. All of the information on the exams you will never learn in class so prepare to read.
He barely went over anything that was on the tests. There are only 3 things you get graded on then there is extra credit so if you don't like tests than don't take him. It seems like he really cares but he doesn't know how to teach at all. Even though I got a good grade in the class he curved it and extra credit definitely saved my butt!
Your entire grade is based off of 3 exams. He provides a study guide which basically covers the entire test. Extra credit saved my butt.
He spent most of the classes lecturing us on stuff that i found wasnt relevant to the course. The class periods were often fun and entertaining but i learned most of the information through going to SI
I overstudied in the beginning for this class but found it quite easy once you get in a good study habit*cough*. It's not a hard A as long as you do the tests and the essays(which, isn't exactly clear, as long as you write something that goes with the topic you can get by with a B). I'd probably take again for another required class course.
Took his online course in Intro to Weather and Climate (formerly known as Intro to Meteorology). Three tests, two essays. Online material and required readings were sufficient. He is very clear on how he grades and is always communicating. Seems easy going. I like the subject so I enjoyed the online course material.
WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND TAKE THE PRACTICE QUIZZES because they are way more helpful than any of his lectures in my opinion. I think his difficulty level depends on you and your work ethic. Everything is online which made them a bit easier to do. He's pretty funny when he's not expecting us to be oceanographers so there's that.
All about consistency. You have to make sure you're always reading the notes and the key to the OL class is WATCH EVERYTHING! Watch his Youtube stuff because he has answers in those lectures. He grades on a curve, and he expects pretty deep thinking for his class, which isn't that fun for Oceanography. He responds quick tho, but it wasn't an easy A
He makes it very easy to get a good grade in the class. If you take the time to complete the practice quizzes, then you will get a good grade on the exams. The entire grade is based on the exams. You get to drop your low test score, and A starts at 85%, not 90%. If that wasnt easy enough, you can get up to 50 points extra credit.
Possibly the worst prof at Fullerton. Started the semester off rocky and it went down from there. The guy needs to take some classes for himself to learn how to teach.
Very clear & upfront about what he expects from you to pass. Syllabus is very well put together. Summer course was 1midterm & 1final. Anytime I was lost on the material I would email him. He responds immediately and always wants to make sure you understand. Cares and wants students to do well in life and during their educational journey! Loved him!
Excellent professor. He mixes humor with learning to help engage his students. He is very knowledgeable about Oceanography, and he is a very good person from what I know.
Professor Chamberlin , had a clear grading criteria and did a good job at making the subject important! Emailing him is kind of pointless for the online class because everything is on the syllabus and self explanatory make sure if you are taking an online class you know note taking is key! Make sure to watch his YouTube videos !!
He's pretty laid back but he'll remind you constantly to do your homework. Your grade is basically everything you do online and you have like four worksheets for homework you get through the semester. A lot of student underestimate the help he offers, you just need to take advantage of his office hours and he'll see that you're pushing.
He was an OK teacher. Very passionate about Marine Biology , if you're physically taking his class hes going to have you pretty much learn yourself online. 2 in classexams Quizzes are online but you can take them as many times as you want before the given due date. I guess the main point ill make is that this class is purely memorization in the end
I was referred to take Professor Chamberlin's oceanography class by a friend, and I'm happy that I did. He's extremely knowledgeable, articulate/highly intelligent, funny as heck, cares abut the environment, and actually wants his students to learn (and hopefully - begin a career in oceanography). Super easy class if you follow instructions.
I took this class online and it was a breeze. Easy fulfillment of a science requirement and learned a lot about the environment. He assigns quizzes due every week but you can take them as much as you need or want. A midterm and final that is offered to take twice. I would definitely recommend this class if you know how to take online courses.
I took this class online and it was one of the better online courses. You have unlimted quiz attempts and can always go back to old quizzes. The lecture slides and videos are pretty straightforward.
He is the best prof I took this semester. You need to pay attention in his class but as long as you do that, study and take the online quizzes then you will definitely get an A. Hes kind and will help if asked. He cares so much about the climate and inspired me to care for it too. Im happy I took his class.
ALL class content is on canvas so read his lecture pgs, videos, & do the online assignments & quizzes. U should pass if u actually put in time to review. Bring book to class(I never needed to use it but its required) U have unlimited retakes on quizzes so there's no excuse not to get a perfect score. Material in quizzes are exactly what's on tests!
Great Prof. great class. Quizzes can be repeated until you get the grade you want. Minimal homework and discussion questions, they are pretty easy and strait forward. 4 exams which you can take twice. All around a great class, you have no excuse to fail as long as you put in a little effort.
Professor Chamberlin is passionate about the subject and he's a pretty funny and interesting guy. He's got a cool, laid back personality. All the assignments and exams are online so missing class isn't a big deal, which is nice. Just dont wait until the day its due to do all of it. If you put in a little work, its an easy A.
To be honest I did not know what to expect, but I'm glad I took this class with Professor Sean. He is Amazing! He's really intelligent, funny and makes this class interesting. I definitely came out of this class more informed and ready to find ways to help the environment. I would take this class again.
Best. Professor. EVER. Super easy and straight forward. He makes science relatable and super chill! 10/10
I took this class for credit, and ended up loving it.The discussions were my only complaint, as some were long. Weekly quizzes and a test but you have plenty of time to complete them. He was nice and helpful with any questions I had. He also responded quickly to emails. Highly recommend taking this course. I would take another course with him.
Professor Chamberlin's class was very easy. There is a required book, however I got an A without it, most of it doesn't line up with the book very well. Just read the slides and the videos provided and you should be fine. There are many extra credit opportunities, if you go above and beyond in your DB he might give ec as well. He also drops asgmts.
This professor is amazing, For the course, there's Discussion post, Exams, and quizzes, but for the Discussion there is 8 in total but the lowest 3 is dropped, for the quizzes there are 30 in total, but the lowest 15 will be dropped, and the Exams, there are 8 in total, but the lowest 2 will be dropped from the final grade
You'll get a good grade if you put the time into it. The discussion posts are very time consuming and sometimes could be confusing. There are a lot of exams and you wont be able to see your score until after it is due. Overall, this class was very stressful.
I am really happy that I selected Professor Sean for my weather and climate course. He is an excellent teacher. He does a great job explaining the assignments. he allows plenty of time for quizzes and tests. The textbook will be required. There are tests, quizzes, and discussions throughout the semester. he also offers a lot of extra credit.
Took his oceanography class, he was a great professor. Discussion posts (some were long but gave detailed rubrics), quizzes (weekly but can take them however many times you want), and exams. Gave extra credit opportunities and responded somewhat fast to emails. This was an easy class and he loves detailed discussion posts/responses. 10/10 class!
I took this course during the winter session, and I really enjoyed it. Professor Sean provides a clear understanding of his grading scale. Just do the work and you should get an A.
Time consuming class but easy to get a good grade if you put the work into it. I took the class online and it's really nice that he allowed unlimited attempts on quizzes and no timer. Projects are fun and easy as well.
super nice but not a blow off class
I truly don't understand why Professor Sean doesn't have all 5's. This course was so interesting because he made it that way. Not only did we learn about the scientific aspect of everything oceanography, we also explored career opportunities. He made everything so easily understandable. Amazing course. I would take this teacher for every class.
Professor Chamberlin's ESC105 class is a great option for fulfilling a science requirement. With flexible quizzes, minimal homework, and helpful lecture materials, the course is manageable. I found Unstuckstudy to be a useful study tool alongside the provided resources.
Lots of quizzes and exams and discussion posts, he says it himself as long as he sees you trying he will pass you. Fully online and it's a very easy class he provides almost everything you need to pass. A lot of reading that's forsure but very easy A class just make sure your on top of the assignments
The readings, discussion posts, and documentaries are all very interesting and engaging. While it may be a lot of work, the work itself isn't too difficult and there are many opportunities to pass. The only reason you might not like this class is if you do not like putting in work or effort. The professor leaves really nice responses and is fair!
Extremely caring and understanding professor that truly wants the best for his students. I had no trouble with this class and actually had a lot of fun! Professor Sean sets up his canvas for his students to succeed and provides plentiful extra credit opportunities; he also drops some assignments. Would definitely take this professor again!
This class was great!! SO EASY. Professor Chamberlain cares about students well being 100%. He gives a lot of quizes and 5 exams but he drops like the worst grades for a couple quizes and 1 exam. All modules are open all semester so you can complete work at your own pace. Only a few deadlines for work and HW was just watching short videos.
