He is the only teacher from which I ever learned anything; the topics we covered propelled me into a passionate pursuit of cultural knowledge. So engaging, so fun: movies, music, and more.
Yeah- He's super hot.... and really intelligent too!
Intelligent, of course. He tried to cover too many things at once, and the material (and his lectures) were often confusing. Rambling about how America is deeply screwed is always amusing though.
Took this as a fun elective, and was definitely not disappointed. Brings in tons of outside sources (music, movies, websites, etc) to illustrate his point. Took roll a few random days of the semester, but I was always there because the combination of hot and interesting is extremely compelling.
Enjoys teaching and holds you accountable for your own work. The class was pretty laid back and you learn a lot about other cultures in thier struggle adapting to American values. He rambles a lot but if you do the readings and attend class it will give you a good grade.
Good teacher, would recommend. Homework is easy because there is only reading but he does grade hard on the two essays we wrote in class. He has a very clear opinion about the topics we cover in class.
Seems new to teaching..although very intelligent, overall approach to teaching was very amateurish. Instead of focusing on 2-3 novels in the semester, we probably skimmed through 5 or 6 very chaotically. What's the use in that? Is not open to differing opinions.
He is very ambitious in what he wants to accomplish in this class which was not always a good thing. Many projects and ideas that he wanted to pursue fell through. He said he would take attendance everyday but that fell through as well. If you do the essays and show up every once in a while you will pass the class.
Such a cool teacher! I seriously enjoy coming to class today. He makes what could easily be a boring subject into something so interesting and fun! Lots of youtube clips of movies, music and more. Class discussions were also great because he never makes anyone feel stupid even when they make a stupid comment! Hes a really really cool guy!
He was nice to look at and listen to.He is really smart. His intelligence just beams out of him.The class can get a little awkward but it was early in the morning. The discussions were great, can get off topic but still interesting. There is a lot of books, but they are interesting and easy.I really liked this class.
Sean is my favorite teacher at SFSU. He's very intelligent and lectures extremely well. His class activities are very fun and engaging. It was a pleasure going to class every day. You read a lot but he doesn't assign anything to waste your time. Every book is well worth the read. I wish I could take another class with him this semester.
don't take this class!! way to much reading in such a short time. this class is impossible.
The reason I took this class was because of his ratings, and now I know I will be personally asking people who have actually taken the classes instead. He has no structure to his class, not helpful, boring, and doesn't even try to motivate the students to do well. Yeah, it's college, but support from teachers helps. Don't take his class.
Connelly is one of those teachers that doesn't sound boring(his voice) but is boring because he takes a very long time to explain things. I thought I was doing bad but the midterm was surprisingly easy and you can't get lower than 80% on a pop quiz. You have to read a lot of books but the 1st midterm was just identifying words and studying notes.
He is so attractive when he talks! He just radiates with intelligence. It is true that he doesn't have a continuous structure to the class, but that is what made it interesting everyday. He incorporates a lot of technology into his lessons. Have to keep up with the readings though which can be tough. Overall it's an interesting and enlightening cla
Connelly was my favorite instructor this semester. If you enjoy reading, you will love this class. He assigned wonderful texts, and produced some thought provoking analysis on them. There was also sporatic analysis of music, pop culture, and politics, which made the class interesting and fun.
Connelly is a very, VERY smart man and is almost too smart to teach. He expects a lot out of his students so make sure you are willing to do so. Interesting topics and A LOT of reading but he will open your mind to relatively forgotten events in our history. I would recommend if dedicated to reading and work.
This guy is brilliant. I would love to have his brain for a day and see the world as he does. All Connelly wants from his students is to engage in the topics covered in class. Just read the books (which are awesome) and participate in the discussions. You won't regret it. I felt smarter after every time I listened to this guy.
How is Connelly a university professor? No lesson plan, makes vague generalizations, obviously BS'ing most of the time. Class was an absolute train wreck. Unfortunately, my peers were not so discriminating; they seemed dazzled by his wordiness and actually laughed at his lame jokes. What a waste of time.
Connelly is brilliant. Sometimes discussions didn't seem to have any directions, but we were discussing contemporary culture...tangents are expected. If you enjoy to read then this class is great, and all the novels are very interesting. As long as you read and show up you will do fine in this class.
The guy was smart and knew what he was talking about for the most part. He was really BORING and not very friendly! He came up with this brilliant idea that we were "cheating" on our book responses so he had them be uploaded via turnitin.com. He's a moron.
I took this class for a GE requirement and regret taking it everyday. I had him in the morning and that was big mistake. He never had a set plan for class so you never knew what he'd be talking about or even asking you to do. When I took him he had no midterm or final, just a paper at the end, which was total BS! Don't take him if you don't have to
I only took this class for GE. grades are composed of reading logs you get about 6 and there worth 6% each and the rest goes in attendance, MT and final. easy A if you are a good writer. My friend and I took the class together. She read all the books while i only read like 1/7 and We got the same grade.
He's a very cool guy but I will say his class was such a drag to go to everyday. He's teaching style seemed a bit new and he just needs some work. A few books to read, some in-class pop quizzes, a midterm and a final. Get to know him! Go to office hours..it will help your grade! Overall pretty easy class tho.
Rambles, generalizes, is super hot though!
Goes quick through the readings but spends time going over everything in class. I felt like the class was reading books and writing book reports for the midterms and finals. Easy A if you pay attention to lectures about the books and their importance.
Connelly is a intelligent professor who appears to have a better vocabulary than the avg prof. I've taken his American values class when he 1st started teaching and was very picky on essay professionalism. Fast forward to 2011, and I've noticed he has learned that not everyone is as smart as him and now accommodates his students in any way he can.
Connelly is absolutely amazing. Great teaching style, highly sophisticated, interesting material, and high (yet manageable) expectations.
I can't believe Connelly doesn't have more positive reviews. It's true that his class doesn't have a rigid structure to it, but it allowed for greater freedom, which is needed when discussing culture. We looked at an amazingly diverse amount of material, and analyzed everything from the decolonization of Africa to Ke$ha. You'll learn a lot!
He was helpful and really knowledgeable, but also broke off on tangents a lot. Some of the things on the midterm and the final were obscure and there was a ton of reading, but he made the class really interesting.
He is very intelligent but explains things for a very long time and can get boring. You have to read a lot of books but the midterm/final is pretty easy (identification and short essays). You can also get a ton of extra credit pts on the final. There is also a 6+ essay assignment. Class not really mandatory but occasionally there are pop quizzes.
I totally agree with the last reviewer. Verbosity doesn't bother me if the line of thought is clear. His tangents seemed an attempt to say the same thing multiple ways, but he loses clarity in the process. His points are, at times, too loosely connected and sometimes seemed completely irrelevant to the subject. He shows off and it's at our expense.
Let me just say that Connelly seems like a nice and intelligent guy. If a student needs any sort of help, he's more than willing to help. Now the negative: he's without a doubt the most disorganized teacher I have ever had. It's simply mind boggling. He rarely replies to student emails. In addition, the work load is quite extensive.
absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and on point. always stimulating, great teaching style, and a bit of a misanthrope...I'm still hoping to have his children
I feel bad for Connelly. Right off the bat, one could tell he is a smart guy who is also pretty nice. He's just so boring though! I felt like that class was made to just over analyze every single thing that was brought up. Like when teachers goes way to deep into a section of a book. Anything you said he would agree with. No structure.
Connelly loves to talk about theories, which is okay but theories are only theories.... They aren't totally real. The class is basically an ongoing rant about how much Capitalism sucks. It does, but it's depressing and annoying to talk about every class.
Nice guy. Very intelligent. But... He talks of the modern consciousness being schizophrenic and that is probably how I'd describe the structure of the class. But... He doesn't hold your hand, and I feel like the class gives students a chance to do their own exploration and educate themselves. He simply lays the groundwork, which is great.
I've had some bad professors, I've always been able to at least get the idea of the class. This class...not at all. I didn't learn anything, and I really tried to understand what he was getting at. It takes him forever to reply to emails, very unorganized, no guidelines what-so-ever. He has good intentions, and he seems smart, just not for teaching
This class was really interesting. He had a lot of insight regarding America. He did not really care about attendance. He also talks a lot, but all the things he said propelled my thinking. Overall fun movies, books and an easy A for me.
Hard to follow along with if you don't know even a little about the subject. Some parts are really interesting, but he rambles ALOT!
If you like a class with specific structure, a class taught by him is not for you. Otherwise, his class was very insightful, and so much fun. I considered it a relief from all other classes I had. He encourages open discussions about the material for lessons. He's also really cute. :)
Not the class I signed up for. Its called Contemporary Culture yet all we hear about is why Capitalism sucks. This class needs to be relabeled as a PLSI or ECON class. He is very cryptic on ideas and rambles very often. Also tends to be very unorganized as his lectures have no set direction in addition to submitting grades at the very last minute.
A lot of reading (at least 5 books and a reader).
A lot of reading so just do it. His expectations are not clear, he does expect a lot from his students even though the class may seem very chill. Interesting lectures and very smart guy, but can be all over the place. The class is very eye opening though. Class was great, but I wouldn't take him again.
My favorite teacher for sure. I does not teach in a conventional way though, but uses cool movie references and introduces interesting books that really make you think about the subject. He can ramble a bit at times, but if you engage in the subject and talk in class there can be some really interesting conversations.
I can't wait for this semester to be over. Material could be interesting but is maid boring. He wants you to read a ton of books and a reader, that's his method of teaching. There's pretty much no assignments so it's hard to tell what he expects. Pretty weak in my opinion.
Lots of reading but very intellectual man. I enjoyed the class very much but would make sure I had a few easier classes to go along with it if I ever take another from him again!
Professor Connelly is SO incredibly intelligent that at times I felt extremely intimidated by him. He's not very organized, goes off on tangents, and does not return work you've done or grade it for that matter. If you feel like you're an intellectual, take his class but as far as this class being a GE requirement a little absurd if you as me.
Very knowledgeable professor but highly unorganized. No real syllabus. Doesn't use iLearn just his own website that can be confusing to navigate. Didn't get one paper handed back all semester though we never got any handouts. You are required to read chapter books within two weeks!! Wouldn't recommend this class if your busy!!
Man, this class. No structure, no clear concept of what we were actually supposed to be learning. Connelly rambles quite a bit, and the rambles lead absolutely nowhere. A lot of reading and very little insight expressed in class about what it is we actually read and how we should be looking at it. If you don't need the class for your major, skip.
Sean is super intelligent & it's obvious how passionate he is about what he teaches. That being said, it was extremely hard to follow along with him & the workload is intense. Word to the wise: do not take more than one class with him per semester. One class is enough. Plus, he pretty much teaches the same concepts in all his classes. Yup.
If you have ever grown up in a third world country or are knowledgable about living conditions in developing countries you are going to think he is an ignorant snob. Super unorganized and rambles. He assigns to much reading+ other material, and then never covers it in class. Do not take at all costs! Unless you are an "intellectual"(as he puts it).
His class was among the worst classes I've ever taken. He talks about imperialism and how the west tries to impose their views on others, yet that's exactly what he's doing to us. He's not open to different viewpoints and has no structure as previously mentioned. Too anal about essay structures and takes things too personally. DO NOT recommend.
Connelly's obviously a smart guy, however he isn't the best teacher. His class was extremely unstructured and he had an intense course load with numerous texts you were forced to or else you'd be completely lost. The midterm, papers,& final were all based on these texts.Don't take if you don't have the time or want to hear constantly about capitalism
Assigns readings that are almost impossible to keep up with in the time given for assignments. In addition, the whole class time isn't used to explain these difficult reading assignments as he tends to ramble. Class had horrible structure, would not reccommend.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! TAKES HIMSELF TO SERIOUSLY! For a GE class, he is not fun! the readings are boring! he always talks about education and how he knows how to teach, but he doesn't! he lets his very long readings do his work! You will probably read 200 pages everyday! just for his class! Worst Teacher ever!
Connelly is such an intelligent guy, if you care about your education. If you are there just to get your GE done and get a grade, then this is not the class for you. But if you want to open your mind and become an intellectual, take his class. He does not respect ignorant individuals, and people that dont read. I found the class stimulating.
I honestly hated this class, because the lessons were boring and I had no idea what he was talking about! However, I did not read ANY of the books, and missed three pop quizzes and still got a B. I cannot be mad at Connelly.
This class was not what I expected. It was, however, excellent. I learned more in this class than I have in many other classes. I am a Finance major, so it was very instructive to hear the opposing arguments (the class is basically a crash course in anarchy/anti-capitalism). You have to read (a lot) but most books are free online. Good class.
Overall, I have a generally negative feeling about this class. Do the reading and you'll be fine, but there's so much that you'll fall behind very quickly. Many of the students hang on his every word, but I just felt confused and unwelcomed to ask questions. If you want to work really hard and love reading Karl Marx, go for it.
This class can be a bit overwhelming, it's good if you love to read a lot! And by a lot I mean A LOT! The feeling he brought to the classroom some days was good but I had him early so maybe it's different depending on the time of day. Not going to lie I had a teeny crush on him. One tip I can give is go to class! It's essential for midtermfinal.
This was not an easy class. There is a lot of very interesting readings (novels and supplemental reading). He is a very tough grader, but study and work hard and you will pass. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class to take, but I learned a great deal and respect his intellect. Great overall experience.
Hes a really hard grader. he will also tell you that you can use books on the final and midterm and then last minute tell you that you can't . Its a tough class
AVOID at all costs. He makes you read so many books within a little amount of time. The class was only an hour long but it felt like it was a 3 hour class. There are random pop quizzes that he gives to count for attendance, which makes attendance mandatory. He also doesn't use iLearn, and he makes you use read his blog that is unorganized.
Connelly is overly passionate about Humanities, which is nice, but he tends to go off on long tangents. He really likes to get into the history and is very detailed. It's adorable that he's so passionate, but he goes off topic so often that he doesn't cover class material as much. There are a lot of readings and pop quizzes. Make sure you keep up.
His class requires a lot of focus both in class and with homework. He tends to go on tangents in every lecture so get ready to start talking about Africa and end on childhood memory. My experience was great overall, he's very knowledgeable about Humanities and makes you want to find a passion like he found is in Humanities.
Albert Connelly's syllabus is not very clear at all. Course expectations are not clear. He makes you go off-campus to buy the course reader rather than use the printshop or university bookstore. Most of the course is just sitting around discussing obscure readings in archaic language that have no relevance to literature, history, or philosophy.
Not as bad as everyone says. As long as you show up, do the readings, and show some effort, you'll get an A. It's really not that hard and he's a super easy grader. The readings are really interesting so if you like literature, this course is a treat.
Reading is important for this prof and his classes, for the most part he chooses interesting and relevant readings or other media(film, music, etc). Relies on participation from class. Attend class as much as possibleattendance matters. Really focus on paper: make sure it's well written with language Connelly uses, class notes& lectures
He spends tons of time posting irrelevant things on his blog, but gives no feedback on classwork or papers at all. He teaches class like it's gwar but it isn't, not very helpful, does not communicate clearly, is slightly disorganized, if he focused everyone would benefit more.
He will challenge you with stuff you've never read before, but it will be interesting and makes you think. he has a good vocabulary, archive in his blog likes writing and shows films, it's worthwhile, but you have to work, overall a good experience.
A summed up version of this class was a lot of random crime novels and film analysis. I learned more film analysis than I expected. The work he gives is not difficult, but you really have to keep up with the readings he assigns which are weekly and can lead to pop quizzes. This class reminded me of high school, but it was interesting at points.
Material is interesting but his attitude sucks. He has very anti-establishment views & tries to cram them down your throat. Lessons weren't planned and he randomly gave assignments. 40% is classwork so if you skip the midterm or final (20% each), you can pass (if he likes you bc he grades according to his anti-capitalist/anti-America views)
His class was beyond disorganized... and you're going to have to buy the books he assigned if you wanna keep up with the work and discussions. There's a ton of reading!! and don't take this lightly! homework just consists of reading, midterm is making connections of what is discussed in class and the readings. Overall just sloppy and boring class
Want to stress: I am not the professor. But was in his class and most of the people who complain about him are honestly the students who think they can graduate university by simply skimming through their phones. He lists books before the semester and they are not hard to get for a ton of $$. He talks about interesting stuff, appreciate it.
Could've been a cool class but was majorly disappointed. As long as you're reading, doing your homework, and taking the vague notes that he gives, you can pass easily. It was just one of those classes where we had to "make connections" and be really "vague" about everything which doesn't really help me learn at least.
I have never read or heard of most of the stuff he assigned so it was interesting. Not what I expected, but I learned a lot.
He's just very disorganized. I would walk into a class and he would be asking us, the students, what we should do. There's lots of reading but I felt as though we hardly ever discussed it thoroughly. I also felt that there was no connection between the books and the class. I definitely would not recommend this class to anyone.
Where do I begin? He made us buy so many books and some he'd laugh after we've read them and say that he probably won't use them next semester. Don't miss class or use your phone you will get scolded at. I realize that this is college and we have to work hard but this is not a class for my major. Also, it's a 3-hour class w/o break. SAVE UR GPA
I actually liked that he doesn't allow people on the phone in class because to be honest sitting next to people who are on their phones is super annoying. he makes you read a lot but don't see that as a problem I want to leave a class feeling like I learn something. I liked reading different things and learning new ideas.
Interesting
He was a pretty laid back professor. However, he's a major cinephile and finds anyway to connect whatever we are learning to FILM NOIR. We would watch the most bizarre movies in class and he would passionately discuss every detail and aspect. I took two of his courses, while they were interesting I wouldn't take him again.
Although I believe his intentions are good, his class is not very organized and focuses mostly on film analysis as well as ext reads which he dissects in 1,000 ways often leaving us more confused than before. The assignments are often unclear & it's a class that takes over ALL my time. For me, I didn't sign up for a FILM class, save yourselves! :(
I kind of love him. Especially when he attempts to be funny and no one else laughs. Just an awkward nerd trying to make people think.
Organized, gives clear expectations.
While the lectures can be interesting, the lectures are all over the place and not structured well. Final grades are based on "key word" tests, where you are to write about specific terms or phrases discussed during lecture. He is an extremely hard grader and is unresponsive to emails.
Intelligent professor with enormous potential, to not only teach but share his knowledge with the world. In another age he would have been treasured. He admirably tries to fit in more than there is time for. Needs to simplify and write some things of his own. He is a classic over-thinker. You'll be annoyed by his demands but feel smarter after.
He wasn't even the professor I wanted to take the class with. My schedule told me it was someone else but instead it was him. His lectures seriously lack structure, and all you're graded on are tests, which is basically a page of writing. He expects you to read books at his pace, and doesn't respond to emails despite saying he does.
His lectures are a bit all over the place and the final project is pretty unrelated to the class which doesn't make sense as it's worth so many points. Tons of reading and really unclear instructions - doesn't update ilearn at all, uses his own blog. Really tough grader, make sure to parrot back his opinions to get the A lol
He always had so much to say about irrelevant matters that you didnt know when something important was always said. He doesnt help w the readings because he only cares for the students who are fast readers. He doesnt take into consideration the other work load and time a college student actually has. He is rude and feels entitled. Good luck.
Prof Connelly is great! I had him this semester and he was very nice and forgiving when it comes to grading. The best thing you can do for your grade is participate. My class never spoke, never did the homework, and it impacted the learning experience of everyone else in the class. The homework is easy - usually reading and discussing - so do it!
Honestly, he is a really great professor, contrary to what others say. You really HAVE to read and HAVE to work for your grade. Attend office hours, they seriously help. Especially going over past tests and discussing themes-- its worth it! He does go off topic, but if you like to read & critically think, go for it. Took up a lot of my time though.
I really enjoyed this class. It was a lot of reading, but the material was both interesting and challenging. He was really easy on grading as long as you completed the work. I would love to take another class offered by him.
Fascinating class and he was pretty chill. Had a 3 point grading system to make it easier for us. Reading every week and have two days to do discussion forum. We did have to buy three books to read but they were pretty cheap so isn't too bad. He'll also give you songs and movies to listen to.
Great Professor and could not recommend enough. He is passionate about what he teaches and does his best to get everyone to engage in the classroom. He does go off-topic at times, but it is usually just the flow of the lecture, which is more like a conversation he has with the students. His 3 point grading scale is easy to succeed.
Sean Connelly's San Francisco class is one of the most time consuming and tedious electives I have taken in my 3 years at SFSU. The class requires you to read about 100 pages a week (yes I did the math). This reading is rarely interesting and you will be quizzed on it. Connelly is a tough grader and his lectures can come off as pretentious.
I study math and understand the meaning of "hard work". This is the hardest elective class I have ever taken and I tried really hard to pass this class. Sean comes off incredibly rude and pretentious. His readings deserve trigger warnings. His exams are so tedious and impossible to pass. Over 80% of his class failed including me who opted for C/NC.
Not what I was expecting at all. I felt like I learnt nothing about SF and it was not what any of us were expecting
It's funny when people complain about a professor making them read too much. It's called "university" for a reason. I would guess that most of my other classmates who have whined about Connelly probably read about 6 hours a day of utter garbage on the internet - but get upset when they are asked to pick up a book. I have no issues with SC.
Connelly asks way too much of his students in regards to the amount of reading, to then only quiz on about half of the absurd and nonsensical writings. The class you sign up for will not be the class you get, unless that happened to be a film analysis/obscure novel course. I registered for a San Francisco class but got a Sean Connelly class instead
Was just gonna look through the reviews till I saw the review on May 16th, 2022. This is 100% from Sean himself. The pretentiousness is there, and I know the "this is university" and "rubbish on the internet you guys read" comments all too well as he made them multiple times in class. Says a lot he has to leave fake reviews for himself, no?
I did all the readings, showed up to class, and did basically everything I was supposed to do and I still struggled to pass this class. You're quizzed on the most obscure details of the readings and the class in general felt more like a film and literature class. Very little taught about San Francisco like the course description stated. AVOID
Where to begin with Sean Connelly. Going into this class everyone, not just me, thought that this class would be about the history and culture of San Francisco. Instead we read random books that TOOK PLACE in San Francisco. The goriest or most weird books you will ever read that ( I agree with the comments before me) DO need trigger warnings.
Lectures and course material are very irrelevant to the class. I did not learn anything I was anticipating on learning. His exams are very vague and tests you on very obscure references to the material he assigns. I personally would not take a course with him again. I really got nothing out of this course it was quite disappointing.
My opinion might be a little controversial, I enjoyed this class. He has fun assignments. During his lecture he brings up a lot of things you need to know for the test so I recommend going to every class. He did grade really hard on the exams everything else it was pretty easy. Show up you'll get at an B and he is understanding if you talk to him.
He withdrew me from his class even though I was not absent for any reason besides literal illness. Additionally, he makes you buy reading materials for the course and his lectures sound the adults in Charlie Brown.
*I would STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS* Professor Connelly is a tough and unfair grader. Expect to read a lot of readings and also I should also note that although the class is named "History of San Francisco", You WONT learn nothing at all about San Francisco, instead you read a ton of poems and readings that refers to San Francisco.
Cool class. The class is called San Francisco - not "History of San Francisco". It's a humanities class which means we look at how San Francisco is represented through books and art and music and stuff. If you read the material you learn lots about San Francisco and history. Not my major, so I'm hoping for at least B in the class.
Get ready to read. AVOID THIS CLASS. I took this class and it was such a waste of time. I have never written a review about a professor ever, but I had to write something for this one. Over half the class failed.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. 350 characters is not enough to even begin on why you should not take this course. rude, difficult to understand, boring lectures, and did not learn what I anticipated. He is very difficult to work with and will belittle you.
This professor is so bad, this is my first review on a professor. I have never had a more terrible professor than this guy, dude talks about crime films more than our grades in the class. Also get ready to read 20000 pages of reading and 10000 hours of watching boring films. Will not be taking this professor if I see his name again.
I might just be a big Sean Connelly apologist but this professor was great imo. Fun, interesting lectures and the only class I actively looked forward to going to. Yeah there is a lot of reading, but I found all of it engaging and not too difficult. Keyword tests are initially confusing but get far easier with time.
Lots of reading. There are some interesting topics however, but the amount of reading between the articles and books plus movies is a little much. Also, Connelly expects you to treat this class like it is your only class/priority, regardless of major.
I see the vison its cool and all there's lots of interesting subjects discussed but if ill be real he puts too many readings on top of them being around 20 pages each he asks a lot out of you to be on track with the course. If you just sort of follow along and show up every class you should pass but this isnt an easy A. CONNELY4LIFE
One of the worst classes I have ever taken. Every single one of my other professors uses canvas except this guy. There is a lot of reading (books) on top of 20 page articles you have to read. The tests for this class are very confusing. You really really have to put in your all if you want to pass. The topics were interesting, but repetitive.
terrible professor!!! Learned nothing about SF and only read poems that reference SF. This is really just a film class disguised as a humanities course. He's condesending AF and can't teach to save his life. TONS of pop quizzes too. Overall a waste of my time and money. Don't take this guys class. He even writes fake good reviews for himself
This class was a mixed bag. While the content was often unrelated to the course title, unstuck ai and other study tools helped me stay on top of the heavy reading load. The professor can be tough, but engaging with the material pays off.
I couldn't find him in the school I go to so I'll just write it here. It's very telling on the first assignment, which is a meet and greet discussion, that I can tell exactly how terrible this professor is. He wrote that I wasn't specific enough in a meet and greet, when I literally followed the instructions and EXCEEDED the word count. Ridiculous!
