The instructor was very pleasant to take and it was actually fun to attend class! Overall easy course. You cannot just turn in sub-quality work and expect to get the A, but if you turn in great quality college work, attend every class, and ask questions then this is a pretty easy A.
Talks a lot. Lots of group dicussion. Gets off topic a lot. If you laugh at his jokes, you must have a very cheesy sense of humor (not a bad thing).
He is hilarious! You should take it! It's an easy A. Just a midterm and a final.
he makes the class so fun and hes pretty funny. the papers are very easy, the midterm and final arent so hard. Overall, you should definitely take him, hes cool, easy and hawt.
Great teacher 100 points for attendance called participation, answer the question of the day & your good, NEVER MISS class (deducts for every absence) 7 papers, 2 tests, 1 Group Oral Project (probably the most difficult part, especially if you have a poor group) 50pts of extra credit offered. EASY A Great lectures, SLOW GRADER (but he graded easy)
Connor gives class entertainment every time he takes attendance. He's funny, easy grader. There are 5 speeches (include introduce yourself), 2 papers and 1 final (closed book), 20 points for extra credit. You only need book for final, take about a few hours to study. Easy B but if you practice you will get A for sure.
He is by far my favorite professor at OCC! He is very clear and his lectures are anything but boring. He actually cares about his students and them learning the material and receiving a good grade! I highly suggest taking him for CMST 110 or 100.
He makes the class fun and enjoyable with his jokes and funny stories. He really focuses on getting to know his students & making sure he's there to help. The textbook is a must have though! Expect a mini 10 question quiz every week based on the chapter he's assigned. Other than that there's a few hw assignments and mini presentations that are easy
He's alright, not really great or bad. He has a sense of humor, but he's more fluent in sarcasm than in English and he can come off as really condescending sometimes. Assigns just the right amount of homework and gives a few extra credit opportunities. Probably wouldn't retake him, but some might really enjoy his teaching style.
10 question quiz every week depending on which chapter you read, as well as an assignment each 10 points, if you read(which you have to) you should be fine with quizzes if not, there goes that. Assignments are fairly easy as well. 20 points extra credit offered. He let the class choose to do online or in class quizzes and final! Go to class!!
Connor is one of the best professors that I have met, I took his 8 week class and I have learned a lot. Take him he is one of the best.
He is hilarious and makes communications a really fun class! Quizzes are online and super easy!
Older version of textbook is OK! Reading book is needed for quizzes/tests which are taken on BB. But, the content is barely covered in class. Class environment is super in-formal. Seriously, students were barefoot--Yuck! Easy A! Just smile and nod when you do not agree. Debates are tactfully avoided, but input is encouraged!
I had a lot of fun in his public speaking class which is rare because I hate talking in front of a class. He made the class fun and it wasn't awkward at all. We all got to know one another which was great. It was a very fun class even though giving speeches is scary. There are 5 speeches and he prepares you for each one!
Professor Connor is awesome! He's so smart and will go out of his way to help you. He's so encouraging and explains things thoroughly. There are weekly quizzes (about 8 total) and its straight out of the book. It would be in your best interest to review the quizzes for your midterm and final. PLUS he's absolutely hilarious!!! TAKE HIM!
Professor Connor is fantastic! I didn't expect to enjoy communication studies as much as I did, but thanks to him I very much enjoyed it. He is very hilarious, and makes the class engaged in a not so forced way. Quizzes (and final) are online, group project is a big part of the grade, and extra credit is offered.
I had this professor for CMST 100 and decided to take him again for public speaking. I was so nervous to take this class, but he made sure we were all prepared before speaking. As long as you put in effort you will do just fine.
He let you talk a lot with your classmates. Lots of group discussion. 30 extra points, easy A, take him, you won't regret.
Has a great personality and is hilarious! Can be tough sometimes when critiquing, but wants his students to improve.
Funny and great teacher, 10/10 would recommend.
He is a great communicator and gives you opportunities to improve and also boost your grade. I wouldn't recommend taking this class during a short term you really need that extra time to put into your speeches.
Tall, but no mountain of a man, Sean wields sarcasm & timely puns in lieu of witty humor solicitous of participation. Class is casual: prof ebullience evokes spontaneous participation without anxiety. Drop rate is high albeit endemic to topic. Rigorous rubrics, reasonable expectations, a good time had by all. Few prof r better in this division.
If you show up and do what you're asked, you will get an easy A. Sean Connor is very easy going and make the class fun with his humor. The quizzes and final are online, open notes, and he will drop the lowest quiz grade. He offers lots of extra credit. If you put in the time and show that you care, you will be fine. Easy grader.
attendance is not mandatory but you do get points for it. easy to pay attention to with his humor. everything is very straight forward and clear. hes younger and can still relate with the class making him chill to be around and listen to. lots of extra credit offered making it easy to get an A+. would def recommend and will take again if available.
Amazing at arguing. Had a dispute with him where he completely destroyed me. I was so upset by the end of it, I nearly cried; he really knows how to bring someone down. However, at the end of the day I was in the right. I respect him for overcoming his pride and giving me the grade I earned. Do not regret taking this class.
He is by far the BEST professor I have had at OCC! He makes the class and content relatable and fun. Never a dull moment. Light enough workload with A final group project but its not as daunting as most group projects go. All in all if you have a good attitude and put in the effort youll have a blast and get a good grade!
All quizzes and final is online! You can take quizzes 2x. No class assignments, just outside assignments that are easy! I really recommend! We dont use the textbook in class but it can be good for the online quizzes. Hes so caring and fun! We just listen to his interesting lectures and participate our experiences!! You want an easy A? Take him!!
Professor Connor has been one of my favorite teachers so far at OCC - he is almost annoyingly smart, his lectures are always fun, interesting and very relevant. He truly wants his students to succeed, I always received great feedback and was able to improve my speeches throughout the semester. If you put in the time and effort youll do great!
I loved this class and actually learned about giving speeches, the teacher is hilarious, and the lectures are great because speeches are literally what he specializes in. 10/10 would recommend this class. Give it a chance and you will get over your fears of public speaking.
This class is a must take class. Hes super funny, and he always gives you good feedback for your speeches. The speeches are easy, and the online quizes answers are clearly shown in the book. I didnt read everything in the book but I still got As for all of my quizes. Overall, its a fun class and absolutely an easy A class.
Professor Connor provides his students with the tools they need to become successful in his public speaking class. You need to read the book to do well on the six 10 question quizzes at the beginning of the semester. His criteria for the speeches is clear and fairly easy. He provides great feedback in general. Would definitely take again!
I am graduating from San Francisco State this year and I felt the need to say that Sean was the most inspiring professor I've had in my school career. I took him for interpersonal communication over two years ago and I still feel like I owe it to him that I'm finishing school. His class kept me interested in comm when I was considering quitting.
Amazing discussions and topics. He makes it fun to learn and communicate with our peers.
im rly shy n didn't wanna take this class but had to. 2 short speeches & 4 long ones. 4 peer reviews. 6 easy online quizzes (OCC cmst110 book used). offers lots of EC (went to 1 showcase (10pts) & boosted me 6%). speech days are volunteer based, then he randomly chooses ppl after. you dont have to take the final if you have perfect attendance.
I was a little scared going into this class. But he is a pretty easy grader and doesnt make you feel bad for being nervous. The writing of speeches didnt require that much effort either.
Professor Connor is amazing. Truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Took him for public speaking and would definitely take again! He is also hilarious and is up for a debate any time.
I took this class during the summer which was definitely the best decision possible. I highly recommend to anyone that if you can, take this class for a short 6-week period. Each week, you will stand up at least once and present, however, there is always enough time to complete assignments. Book can be shared, EC available, and goes by super quick.
Professor Connor is a really great professor. He tries to make people as comfortable as possible when it comes public speaking and really tries to help you and give feedback. If you follow instruction, put in the little bit of work he requires you to do, it shouldn't be too difficult to get an A. Super down to earth dude; good class.
His lectures are really engaging with the class; feels more like a conversation than a class. He doesn't really communicate with his class, though. He doesn't remind you of dates or assignments, and he's hard to contact outside of class. Decent class to take for COVID.
Hes a really great professor but hes very lazy, grading takes forever. Unresponsive to emails. But he has a great policy of attendance, if you have a perfect attendance, you dont have to take the final.
He was super funny and had a very straight forward grading. You must stay on top of your work because you will get behind quickly but he does his best to remind you to turn assignments in.
I loved him. He was a great debate professor and really helped me hone down on my skills in speech. I started the class with an F and am now ending it with an A so he is very understanding and it is easy to redeem yourself. Just show up when he says to and make sure you stay on top of your work. Also, he uses a textbook, but i didn't open it once.
COVID year. 4 total speeches, 3 recorded 1 via Zoom. Very straight forward and very easy grading as long as you follow given instructions. Pretty lenient, forgiving, chill. Listed class as hybrid but only met like 4 times. Quizzes are easy, final exam popped up out of nowhere but was made of all of the quizzes from the semester. Easy weekly assns.
I hate online learning and was nervous about taking a communications class all online but I was pleasantly surprised at how laidback the class was. The weekly lectures were prerecorded which made it easier for not taking and the lectures were honestly pretty entertaining so I didn't mind watching them.
He's an awesome professor. He's very understanding and caring towards his students. Also a funny professor, so the class atmosphere is really comfortable. Just follow his instructions, read textbook, watch his prerecorded lectures and do the work, it shouldn't be a hard A.
I just took this class in intersession 2021 and it was amazing. I got an A+ in this class. I really recommend professor Connor. He is such an amazing professor with a chill personality. He really cares for his students and is understanding. I would definitely take his class again. 2 attempts for canvas quizzes. He gives good feedback for discussion
He's so AMAZING! I love how he structures the class; he's one of the best professors I've ever taken! If you show up to class and read the textbook, you'll get an easy A+. He's so funny and caring; I'm so glad I got to have him! Highly recommend taking his class!!!
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR!!!! I took him for 3 different classes (CMST100, 220, & 110). All of them were extremely doable and just my overall favorite professor. Take him!!
Professor Connor did everything in his power to make his class as simple as possible. He laid it out for us and told us exactly what to do to get an A. The class was comprised of 2 speeches between 8-10 minutes and 2 peer critiques. That's it. Pre recorded lectures and clear rubrics for grading made this class almost impossible to fail.
One of the best professors at OCC for communications! I took his class over summer and even though the class was fully online/fast paced, it's more than possible to get an A as long as you participate and finish your assignments. Very funny and understanding, definitely recommend taking any of his classes.
Sean Connor is a good prof. He taught the material well and he was very easy. He is very casual and easy to talk to. (he is a communications prof.) For the most part he is fine, but there were some topics where I felt he was getting political or overstepping his boundaries on the topic of relationship issues.
Took his class over intercession and it was more than easy to get an A in his class as long as you turn in your assignments on time and do the weekly class discussions. Really enjoyed his class and he's an amazing professor. I'm usually the one to get nervous speaking in front of people, but Prof Connor made me feel comfortable speaking. Take him!!
Is an easy A class, you just need to attend and do the weekly discussions to pass. This class did require a textbook but you can easily get it online for free, no need to buy it. He answers any questions you have in class.
Boring and controlling. Take someone else.
you can get the textbook online or at the bookstore, attendence is weekly, interesting discussion posts, great class overall! Professor Connor is really passionate about what he teaches and he is there for everyone. I would reccommend anyone to take this course if you can!
Nobody pays attention. You literally just sit there mindlessly listening to him.
Choose someone else, he doesn't grade you based off the material but rather his image of you.
Doesn't respond to emails, and will not give you the amount of credit that was worthy of giving for assignments.
Not even worth it, I think he just likes to listen to himself talk rather than communicate with the students.
This was the most fun class I've taken at OCC. Not only is it an easy A, but all you really have to do is show up to class and post your discussions/replies on time. Weekly it is just 1 online canvas quiz + 1 discussion + 2 replies + 1 in-class activity. He is hilarious and makes the class have an easygoing feel with his jokes. Textbook is online!
He is so cool! I took this class over intercession and it was so easy, we took attendance by answering a fun questions for an hour and then we went over the chapter we read the night before. Such a cool teacher, you can tell he likes what he teaches.
Coolest guy ever, lectures are super interesting and engaging. Weekly discussion posts and quizzes and no tests or exams. Attendance is graded (leniently). Overall super fun class that I actually looked forward to ever week.
Easygoing professor & class. Dreaded going to every class but this one. Professor is funny and makes class/topics interesting. He engages with the class, trying to include everyone. The work amount is fair. Weekly: read chapter, quiz on chapter, discussion + 2 responses to classmates. Show up to class! Attendance-graded (not too heavily but still)
Absolutely hilarious Best lectures Attention grabbing Inclusive
He is the best, hilarious, and makes it really fun. No exam, just a quiz every week but you have 2 attempts. I would recommended it!
He's the best! He would always start the class with an icebreaker question. His class was entertaining, he made some jokes and encouraged people to participate. Although it required a book, the book is worthy, it has helpful information and is interesting. His hw was easy and he cares about his students so don't be afraid to reach out!
Sean Connor was amazing! His class was mostly based on lecture but it was very engaging and a class I enjoyed coming to. Class started with an icebreaker question but other than that you won't be forced to participate. His class consisted of weekly quizzes (two attempts) & discussion posts. No exams or tests. Take him, you wont regret it!
Sean is one of the best professors, if not the best, you'll ever have. This is one of the few classes I've never dreaded going to. Homework is basically just discussion boards that relate back to things in class. Debates in class are extremely fun, especially if you put in effort. He truly does care about his students and it absolutely shows.
20% of the class starts with attendance and fun question. The class is not hard at all and he takes a day out of the semester to teach students about their finances even though its a communications class. No exams and very little hw.
Professor Connor is super fun in class and keeps the lectures entertaining! Not too much homework, mostly just discussion boards. I definitely recommend his class
I absolutely LOVED him this past semester. One of my favorite professors. Always made me excited to come to class, he was so funny and made lectures fun. Very straightforward and great at teaching as well. I highly recommend him.
Professor Sean is a beast. I loved everything about his class and the students that were enrolled with him as well. He is very thought-provoking and funny when it comes to arguing in class. He did grade hard on my debates, however Sean wants to see your effort. Take him, because it gives you the opportunity to interact with others
he's a funny guy. likes tomake a lot of jokes during the lectures. is really understanding if you are late. wasnt really clear about one of the debates though and it made it difficult to argue with other people. i think asking him about his instructions would benefit if you dont want to lose points.
Took it during intercession, the whole class made the short time to take it very enjoyable. The class wasn't too hard. We had discussions that we had to do on canvas, and one big group project which wasn't too bad to be honest. The class was good. I remember there being a lot of slides, so I would take a lot of notes. Very useful stuff to learn.
I would have been pleasantly surprised with much less than the enthusiasm Professor Connor brings to class. Cmst 100 is not my subject of choice and 4.5 hour classes twice a week will never be my preferred time slot for a class. That said, the classes never dragged on and the semester flew by. It was a positive experience all around.
Took him online, based on a lot feedback. Many group conversations. Great class, easy one!
I'm speechless. I hate going to school, but I advice you to take him. Absolutely nailed it!
Professor Connor was really cool hes funny and the assignments were very easy. i took his intersession class there were 12 quizzes and 12 discussions all really easy
Professor Connor was legit the only professor from my first year here who actually tought and cared for his students. The class is very welcoming and it starts of by attendance with very fun and sometimes out of nowhere questions for example "What is your pet peeve?" Lecture with notes, once a week discussion and quiz. Then a final group project!
Professor Sean is a GREAT guy! The only slight complaint is that he's VERY VERY political. I get it's an argumentation class but it was kind of excessive. Overall, great guy and would highly recommend.
Professor Connor was one of the best professors I have ever had. He was so understanding and supportive! He made class so much fun and a comfortable environment for all. I thoroughly enjoyed my semester. Sometimes he had lectures, but he made them as interesting as he could. Assigned homework, but it was pretty easy.
Wonderful professor, I took him for most of my comm classes. He was funny, caring, reasonable, and wants his students to do well. He also is the debate coach so you'll get a lot of days off if you take him since he has to travel a lot. The classes are fun, but you need to do the work. He gives time in class and will help you so take the gift!
Professor Connor is a funny, cool, and understanding fella. His lectures were beyond amazing! Mainly weekly discussion posts and quizzes in regards to interpersonal communications topics, although I could've done better but at least I passed. You will also be required to work in a group on a voluntary group project. Recommends to not do this alone.
Fun and easy-to-understand class! He uses lots of examples in lectures. It's a summer course, so there's plenty of homework and quizzes, but nothing too hard. If you put in the time, you can get an A. Quizzes are open note. Take his class, you won't regret it! Oh sugar, gotta prep my presentation, tomorrow's the last day!
