This class is hard and the professor doesn't make it all that easy on you. But he's very helpful and is tireless about answering any questions during office hours and via e-mail. Tests are hell, but at least for my class, he curves generously.
ECO 1001. The class is a little bit hard but challenging at the same time. Take him if you are an econoics or finance major. The professor helps the students a lot and also is very generous with the grades.
The class is somewhat confusing at times, and even when you think you understand the material, the tests can be really tricky. However, he is massively helpful to anyone that asks and curves tests very generously. If you actually pay attention in class and do the readings you should do well.
Personately, I enjoyed the class.Exams are coplicated, but if you studied hard, you will remember many economics material even when the class is over.Prof. is great!-extremely helpful!!! After this class, I am planing to do my "masters" in economics!!! Very exciting!!!
He is great! Very helpful in and after class. Very organized - always prepares Power Point Presentation, available on BlackBoard also. If you study the handouts and read the book, you shouldn`t have any problems. Curves the grades and he is very fear.
he is funny and tried to make it easy for you to understand. for his test, i would say easy but tricky. his test is not only remembering stuffs from the class, but he uses examples actively to test you which he will know how the class is doing, good or bad. he doesn't give extra credits even you ask, so don't expect him to assign any extra credit
EASY. You just have to make sure you read every word form the book. I read the book, got an A on the 1st midterm that I though he is too damn easy and didn't read the book at all for the 2nd midterm… and I got a C on it. I read the book very well for the final and got a B in the class.
amazing. he's hot. he can teach. i learned a lot. take him. i got an A.
He may as well be a model professor for any respectfull school. Clear explanations, material is interesting, grading - amazingly fast, plus a curve at the end, response to e-mails - within an hour, in general, helpfull to the greatest extent. I TRULY enjoyed his class, and learned a lot without a stress out. Great professor!!!
If you want to make your life miserable take him. His tests are so hard! The class always averages 65/100 on both midterms and final. That should tell you something about his teaching. Though with the curve 65 will still be a B because everybody always fails b/c they are so hard. Take someone else otherwise all your studies will have to b 4 thiscla
His tests are only hard if you don't read the text or pay attention. I never really paid attention to him but i did read the book before each exam and got an A in the class. He is very helpful and always e-mails students back very quickly. His curve is very helpful as well.
Sean is greate profesor, however a lot of homework and reading.
Great Prof. Presents material clearly and gives examples. Cares for students to understand. however, a lot of homework.and not easy tests, because of the nature of the class. Take him.
He is hard...take him to screw up your GPA. He is not helpful or understanding. The worse Professor.
Hard on tests and grades. His tests are tricky - I messed up in my final, got a bad grade. Refused to even slightly reconsider my grade. Not recommended!!!!!!!
He starts out by saying "No one should get an A" that should tell you everything about this prof. during exam review he confirms "I don't expect all of you to know how to answer some of this q's" WTF? His tests are so tricky the average is usualy a D in both midterm and final that at the end he'll give a big curve so all 250 students won't fail.
Very easy and straight forward class. Slept through the classes and got an A. Just know the material, which is simple to being with. Previous raters are dumb, giving a 1 for everything just because they are dumb and got a bad grade.
He is incredible. He makes the material so interesting. Economics can be related to most of the world today. Study and you should do well...Always read the text!
Great Prof. very qute. Yes his tests are tricky but if you read the book and his presentations you will do well. I strongly suggest going to his office if you don't understand something, he is very patient and explains until you get it. There is no note taking he does everything in power point and is very organized. He gives practice exams.
He is a good professor. He teaches the concepts just like the other Eco 1001 professors, but when it's time for mid-terms, he posts old mid-terms and finals to help you study. The class itself is simply a regurgitation of the book material. To pass the class: you must read the book, you must do the old quizzes, and you must visit recitation.
Material covered is not as complicated as he makes it in lectures. However, he's extremely helpful in office hours. To get an A: attend lectures, do HW, read chapters and print out slides beforehand, and practice with the exams he posts in a real test scenario. Recitations aren't mandatory, yet helpful. He gives a great curve for final grade.
He's using Aplia website for the book and h/w ( which you definitely should do), so don't buy the book before hand. He is not clear sometimes, but with his tests he pushes you so hard to learn that you actually remember and understand a lot of economics after the course is over. I had to work very hard.
Great Guy! This class is HARD. You need to understand the material not just read it. His tests are hard. The best way to prepare for them is to do his practice testes. He is a really cool guy, but he will never change your score--even if you are his friend. He is a big Pittsburgh fan... All in all excel ant teacher.
Great Professor takes his time to explain the work. The best thing about it he gives a great curve on the tests because they are very hard. Best bet is to do Aplia assignments to understand it better.
Prof. Crokett is very good explaining the material. The class to be honest and if you pay attention is easy but he makes the exams so hard that you feel you are not understanding the class. The average for the course was 66% Consequently he has to curve the grades for the 3 exams. Overall, good professor but you need to STUDY BIG TIME!
Don't take this class. The guy is obnoxious, rude,on the tests gives advanced problems that are not relevant to the introductory course. I found this course very frustrating and a total waste of money. He makes fun of the low grade average of the class, without realizing how these low scores reflect on his teaching abilities. Bad professor !
If you want to get an A don't take it. The classes were ok, but he asked hard and tricky questions on the exams. This course was to advanced to be an introduction to Economics.
He is a good professor but his exam is so hard that I did not understand. I got very low grade which I never expect in my life. I will recommed you not to take his class if you want to get an A
Oh, I was so scared to take him after reading all those ratings! Well, I did and got an A. He teaches well, his power points are clear, you don't need the book. Homework helps, and it's 10% of the grade. Easy after you do the practice ?s. He gave practice midterms with explanations, how cool is that? If you got 75 or above, it's A.
He is different from other professors, but I wouldn't say it's hard to get an A. Got 86 in class, which is an A, and it wasn't that bad. Calculus background helps+logic+thinking outside the box. He is a smartie and a hottie, thumbs up!
I took his class last spring. I learned a lot in his class. Many times I wanted to change my major to Economics. He is the best.
This class requires a desire to learn and to be challenged. It's not hard to get a B or better if your willing to put effort into it. The text helps but not required. He's curves the test which is very helpful. Willing to help you during his office hours. I recommend him unless your lazy.
For MICRO, this is your Prof. His bb slides are extremely helpful! Somehow manages to teach 300+ students. He is smart and funny and looks like Ryan Gosling. Would def take him for another ECO class. Highly recommend.
I didn't have much choice , so I had to take him and after reading his review I was scared. On the contrary, he appeared to be very nice and very fair to students. I got an A, his curve is great (althoug it is different every semester) His exams are very hard. Recitations are not mandatory, so I never attended them.
micro was hard, well i wasn't paying attention most of the time (darn im)Rec. is not mandatory so never went. I guess that could have helped me. hw everyweek that do help, has BB slides. ques. are a bit tricky. Very approachable with ques. went to one of his review sessions and wished i would have gone sooner. thank goodness for curve!!! got a B
HI IS SUPER HOOOOOOOT!!! GIRLS, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS PROFESSOR.
Very nice prof. His lectures are very boring though, everything is bb slides. i didnt pay attention because he doesnt really explain too well. your best bet is to read on your own. rec is not required. would be better if he taught a small class.
He is a great professor. His slides are very helpful and he's a very nice person. Don;t be scared to ask him questions. He's easy going and makes the class interesting.. sucks that it is a lecture hall... but you will love him!!!
The people who say this professor is hard are probably the spoiled brads who believe that everything should be spoon fed to them. This is not a class where you can slack off but if you are willing to learn, the professor will help you do it. 2 easy tests, 1 final w couple of cumulative q. Rec not mandatory. Don't hesitate to take him.Great Prof!
Very great professor.. Attempts to make sure his students understand the subject b/c ECO 1001 is tough. Compared to all the other ECO1001 Professors he is the best!!! His grading system also works for those who are heading for diasaster. The slides help a bit but it is best to read the book.
I think he probably is the best out of all the eco teachers. i mean eco is not an easy subject, but he always tries to help as much as possible. he puts slides on bb. his class is really mathematical, but it's easy math, it is the concept that you need to understand to apply them.
Micro is not an easy subject. You have to really pay attention and do the hw's to get it. The professor is very good. He is fair and his test are tough but he gives u his prior tests to practice on. The ppl I heard complain about him are the ppl that left class early, browsing the web, were txting during class. Overall, I would take him again.
Great Pro!! Cristal clear. Gives prior exams to study. His curve is huge... 80 to 100 is and A...in other classes 80 is a B+ TAKE HIM. Flexible, teaches short cuts, open to questions. He will draw a picture if you don't get it at first... he is SUPER!! just make sure to do HM... I didn't so I got a B+
Even though ECO is a hard subject you can be sure that this professor will try to answer every question you have. like others say you need to read the book. I have it, email me for more info: [email protected]
This professor is great ! Gave a nice curve since half of the class was failing. material is hard!!! Be prepared lots of work, do your homework, extra cr. etc will help you a lot at the end. good luck!
Only this professor will find time for you to help you!!! Use his office hours. You get previous tests to study. Material is v. hard. prepare for work, but prof. Crockett is the best prof. in eco. His review session helped me a lot
Take him!!!!! This guy is awesome. Cares about his students and is very fair.No question goes unanswered in his class. He really knows his stuff and he'll go over the material until everyone gets it. Do all the homework and take advantage of his office hours. He's funny as well.....wish he was teaching MACRO
One of the best professors in Baruch! Very clear and helpful. Must take! Study from his slides. They are easy and helpful. 3exams and non-mandatory HW. I strongly recommend you to do the HW. His tests look much like exercises in your HW. Plus it's 10% of your grade.
prof crockett explains things very well, i rearly needed the textbook, all i did was listen to his lectures and read the slides. tests are tricky in a way that makes you think but its pretty easy if you know what you're doing. on top of that, he's pretty hot
very helpful, very nice and explains things very well. However, he does ask questions on his exams that he didn't teach you how to answer in class, by his own admission. the homeworks are a breeze but the tests can be very tricky.
Cool Guy..Very conciderate and knowledgable of the subject. Cares if u understand the material and he take the time to help u......I appreciated his help..cool guy
He is very interesting, good humor. extremely helpful. But you have to study a lot. Go to recitation with TA! it helps a lot. At the beginning ECO seems very easy, but it gets more difficult over time, so study hard from the beginning because first exams is the easiest. makes extremely tricky exams on purpose to challenge you. Read book in advance!
He gives 3 exams that are hard. He gives practice exam questions before exams which are very helpful. Do the online homework they can be worth up to 15 points and can make a big difference on your final grade! Without the homework I would have recieved a B-, with the homework my final grade was an A. Overall, a great guy.
I highly recommend Prof. Crokett as a great educator!! You do not need to read a complicated textbook because his materials are all clear and very helpful. Even though I'm an international student and microeconomic is one of the hard subjects, I become loving and interested in economics very much. Thank you for teaching me microeconomic!!
I highly recommend Prof. Crokett as a great educator!! His materials are all clear and very helpful. Even though I'm an international student and microeconomic is one of the hard subjects, I become loving and interested in economics very much. Thank you for teaching me microeconomic!!
The material and exams get tougher as the course progresses. Prof. Crockett is great at giving practical examples. He also quickly responds to your e-mails. He talks very casual and friendly too, which helped me a lot.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! although his tests might be a bit challenging..the guy knows what hes talking about during the lectures and you learn soo much. Also he curves all his tests and when you email him he always gets back to you fast. Best professor at this schoollll
He's awesome. Just read the slides and work on his practice exams.
COuldn't get any more straight forward than this guy. Just do all the practice questions before the exam and if you know how to do them all, then you're set for the exam. If you're any kind of student at all who puts effort into studying then you should get an A easily.
He is hotttttttt! Very helpful too! He gives you practice exams to study off before the test which are EXTREMELY helpful. He's very helpful and has a straightforward grading system. If you have a brain, you won't get lower than a B. Btw, did I say he's hot? Bc hes hot!
Very easygoing professor, knows what he's talking about and overall is great guy and great teacher. Tests are really not that hard as long as you do the homework which is all on aplia and you're given lots of time to complete them. Easy A, interesting lectures, and you learn a lot.
He is a really nice professor, but his test are very changeling. He always likes to add harder problems on your exams. If you want to understand whats going on in class you must attend everyday!
The only reason I didn't get an A is that I didn't take the class seriously. Was my fault, nothing to do with Sean (he's too young to call him Crockett) The tests are challenging, the curve is forgiving. You have to study, UNDERSTAND and be able to put the concepts together. Brilliant professor, helpful, intelligent, humorous, pleasant to the eye.
Hes smart and knows what hes talkng about but his tests are difficult. Other econ prof make you memorize terms but its all math with him And its not even the kind of math that has a straight formula its all stuff u have 2 figure out using the material u learned. But he curves!70-84 is a B.To do well, you must understand material VERY WELL!
TAKE HIM!!! He's one of the best in Baruch. Eco isn't an easy subject but he makes it super interesting. U got three exams they are somewhat hard (specially final) but he's a generous grader and curves well. Also do HW's it helps u with grade boost and exam problems. Oh, one more thing he's extremely hot.
You can't get better than Prof. Crockett. He is kind, extremely helpful and very straight forward. You will learn a lot from his class. One of the best Professor at Baruch. I definitely recommend to take him.
great professor. i like his class, he is fun and hot! his slides are useful.
He's a great professor. Extremely fair and has no problem with curving. The slides are very clear and straight forward and the online homework is helpful in clearing up any problems. The tests on the other hand.... GAH! They are scary hard, but it might just be that I'm miserable at business (not a business major). He's still awesome, though.
Okay let me start off by saying this class is extremely hard. Highest raw grade score was 91 out of a lecture hall of 300 some. His curve is nice but, honestly it doesn't help that much, as the exams are extremely hard. Mean scores for three exams were 18/25 17/25 16/30. Exams are hard you will need the curve, but don't rely on it for a good grade.
He was a good professor all along and his slides really helped. he is also generous with curving but his tests are extremly hard. i was disappointed after the final when i was doing ok in the class the whole semester. would still recommend him though.
TAKE HIM! Class + exams are fun! Warning: If u ace the 1st exam, don't become super confident that u'll ace the others. I got 96% on the first exam + only 73% on the final, and the entire class as a whole dropped significantly! Bright side: extremely high curve! Curves based on class's performance. This semester, if u earn >=82 overall, u get an A!
Awesome professor!! very clear and helpful. the final exam was hard, but he gave a fair curve. Strongly recommended
Prof Crockett is smart, nice & handsome.(and at times cute & witty) It's not an easy class, but you will get whatever you'd deserve. Don't forget to do aplia & practice exams. Learned a lot in his class(i can still picture those graphs in my head), and wish he'd teach macro as well.
HARD! His curve is amazing (people got B with 68% out of 100) Strongly encourage you to do APLIA (gives you points you lost on exams) and practice exams. Exams are tricky and HARD. People say he is helpful and clear. Well, helpful with curves; clear with the slides only (but i can read slides on my own).
I love prof Crockett! Even with a class size of ~200, he is more interesting than my other profs. of smaller classes. He is an enthusiastic man and sometimes gets so excited that he starts to jump. His 1st exam is a breeze but don't get cocky, the tests after are more difficult. Print out the slides and pay attention and an A should be acchievable
You can't get better than this professor for eco class. He is crystal clear. Study his practice exams, and make sure you understand them. Definitely A. Strongly recommend to take his class.
What can I say this class was super hard for me, just a requirement. You will have to work, do aplia homework and do well on the exams. He is extremely helpful Professor and overall impressed with his professionalism and teaching style. Would def take him again if he didn't teach Micro..worst subject, good Professor!
He's a nice professor. He's extremely helpful. I like the fact that he makes himself available to answer any questions that his students may have. His tests are hard and math based (which is annoying to me). With much hard work (reading the book, the slides, practicing on the practice exams)you will pass his class.
Crockett gives the hardest exams ever. I did my average and I'm gonna end up with a B. The material on his exams cover Micro 3100 and he throws in hard questions just so we can suffer. If you like a challenge take this professor. But your gpa will be sufficiently lowered!!!
Exams are difficult! He is extremely helpful and makes himself available, but what good is it when he throws you curveball on the exam? I imagine this is because he not only teaches at Baruch, but because he is some sort of economics researcher for Baruch, he takes the subject matter personally and teaches it that way! You really need to apply your
Tests are hard! But aplia homework is really simple. If you do it all semester it will help your grade. Also he grades on a curve and this semester anything over 76 was an A (although only 19% of the class actually made it there). Another thing, which I only took advantage of before the final is his office hours. He explains so much clearer then.
Very good professor. Teaches clear and has good reviews before tests. He also curves and you can get a good grade if you little better then the median. His exams may be hard but on the topic.
Very hard exams and final; he is very good teacher like to help. Aplia websites helps to improve your grade. The exams are so tricky so study hard you can get a good grade.
Very hard exams. It was nothing like the practice exams he gave. However, he is extremely helpful. Take at your own risk
Exams can be tricky even if you know the material be sure to brush up on your basic math. An good understanding of calculus will help you on his exams. The exams are geared to challenge the best student in the class. Go to every lecture, study the notes and previous exams. He will spend hours helping you understand material during office hours.
He's really nice prof. Exams are tricky and Final is hard as hell. However, he is always willing to help you. He even came to school on reading day until late night to prepare for the final. He's an economic researcher, you will learn alot from him
I believe he's over-rated. He's helpful. But exams are super hard! He had to curve the grade cause most students did average. Take him if Math is your strong side. Also you need to be attentive in the classroom and you should not miss his class. Its very hard to catch up
I'm averaging an A-. However, he makes the class more difficult than it need be. The exams more difficult if the class average is high. He even admits that expects at least half of his class to drop; which also means that he's out to fail as many people as possible. If you take his class, hope that most of the people won't understand the concepts.
Nice guy, but exams are hard. Take Kyle for recitation he'll make your life easier.
He is a nice professor but the tests are HARDD!!!! The only way to study for the tests are from previous test which are uploaded but it doesnt matter because he changes is the tests and makes it a lot harder. he should be teaching advanced not micro he teaches this class intermediate i work my butt off for this class and still am averaging b- or c
Tests are very Hard, he teaches well, but really really have to pay attention in class. If you day dream for even a couple of seconds, and miss what he is saying,(I have ADD) its like missing the whole lecture..unless you are prepared well for the class. Home-works are in medium difficult range. I survived from recitation and doing HW. Got B grade
His exams were so different than the practice tests (last 2 at least) and the homeworks did not help you on tests. It helped you learn, but not to pass your tests. If you can't apply the concepts and do the math the first time around in this class, don't bother taking it. If I had to take him again, I wouldn't.
First of all, he's a really nice guy. His teaching assistance(Kyle)is really helpful and give you lots of tips. The tests are dramatically getting harder. 80% of questions come from practice tests and rest of them are New. You should do everything prof said and get help from Kyle if you want an A. Without it, Good Luck.
His lectures are solid. Exams get progressively harder. Also, if the class does well, he tends to throw in a couple of questions that were not covered in any of the previous exams. Do a thorough job on the HWs (Easy & tedious online problems), as they add up to equal an exam in total. Highly recommend.
If you...don't think of yourself as smart, don't take this class. If you do, take it. In other words, it is hard, but in a fun way. To get an A, read, and UNDERSTAND, the chapter before each class (tests are based only on lectures, but lectures are 80-95% based on the e-book). Most students don't follow along, that's why the curve for an A was 77.
Although this micro class is more math-oriented, you just need to know the basic addition and multiplication. The tests got harder each time but he explained everything well. Even though the tests were hard, he gives huge curves. Although the online hw is way easier than the tests, it definitely boosts your overall grade
His tests are pretty hard. Gives a nice curve. Attendance are not mandatory. His powerpoints and online hws are the only thing i read/studied. Barely went to lectures, but got an A
Hard class, if you not sure in your math skills, dont take it, since all his exams consist of problems. Aplia is pretty easy, and boost your grade. He also help to figure out your possible grade after first 2 tests, so what you get in the end wont be a surprise. And he is cute too.
He is very passionate abt his econ!flies through lectures so u have to keep up and be able to get what he is talking abt.calc knowledge will really help on the exams.3 exams(25% each) and HW aplia25%.exams are hard but he throws in a crazy curve,so pretty easy to get an A(well, u do have to study).TAKE HIM!!!!
Three hard tests that are math orientated. If math is your weakest subject, don't take this class. The Aplia hw will help you make up for the points you lost on the exams. Very friendly and down to earth professor and humorous as well. If you want to learn a good deal of micro, take him. If you care about your GPA, take at your own risk.
Omg what a horribly difficult class. I will never take this professor again! If I only knew! It's beyond basics. Some who are attending college at an adult age will have a horrible time learning this material. Totally regret taking this class with this professor!
handsome guy, just like him
His class requires calculus concepts. The tests are fair given his generous curve. 5 out of 25 questions are really difficult and rest are what you have seen on webwork or in sample tests. If you take this class, you make sure to understand all concept clearly.Without it, no matter how well you do on sample test, chances are you screw up the test.
A good professor.Interesting lectures and will go out of his way to explain stuff. Tests are math oriented so it's easy if you understand the concepts and some calculus but is manageable w/o calc. Do this sample tests to get the general idea about how his tests are. Like others say, he curves and usually has 5 hard questions on exams.
Here's the fact. He is a good professor. If you want a good grade, you have to score high on the exams. He gives a Curve in the end. Be serious about the exams and study. I didn't study much and did OK the first two exams, but got a high score on the final. Ended up with a B. You can get the A, just study and don't be lazy like I was.
His 3 exams are really HARD, but he gives BIG curve. I got an A in his class. Aplia hw counts as one test so make sure you do well on the HW.
Extremely difficult exams! Good luck with the Math. He is very helpful and will get back to you very quickly. Richard his assistant is also very nice and helpful. Wish Baruch had more professors like them. Got 21 on Aplia, scored in the 40's/75 on 3 exams and got a B. Thank God he curves!!!
Gives 3 very hard exams. If you really study and do well his in his exams his curve will allow you to probably get an A. Do really well on his HW's try to get it right the first time around since he only allows three tries and it is averaged. Big on math and very knowledgeable. You will definitely learn something from his class.
great professor, explains and cares, come to his office hours he will gladly help you, do hw correctly first time, he gives you three tries and the total score is based on the average. Exams are okay, easier if you are good at math. Fun and hansom as well
He gave us the curve. Tests are maybe easy if u study well and understand every concepts. There are practice exams on the blackboard and the notes(presentations) are also posted on the blackboard. The attendance was really loose. There are assignments which we have to do it through online. Textbook is not useable because it can access through the online which also do assignment. Nice and clear!
Generous curve. Just do the practice exams and you'll be fine.
If you study properly you can do well in the midterms but the final is very hard...have to study a lot
Best professor at Baruch ! Aside from the fact that he's EXTREMELY HOT, he knows how to teach, goes beyond the surface in his lectures, very patient, very logical, witty and charming. If you really want to know economics - take him. Uses a lot of math. Mostly study off practice exams. Gives a curve.
Yes ok he's very hot. But his exams are crazy hard!! The homeworks on aplia is the easiest part of the class. He's open to questions during his lecture but his office hours are extremely limited. I would take him again now that I know how hard his exams are.
he is deffinantly the best looking professor i ever had! so he's pleasant to look at but he is tough!!!
Great professor. His exams are extremely hard but you learn a lot from him and he's willing to slow down and explain things if people are confused.
I love econ, his exams are unnecessary difficult. And his excuse to distinguish among the very best students is not so accurate given the fact that student success varies from individual greatly depending on many factors. However,if you are willing to REALLY work hard for an intro class take him,the huge curve will help
Recitals are not mandatory. Class is a mandatory but this semester the guy who took attendance never showed up so idk. 3 exams and homework due almost every week online. MUST WORK HARD. overall the prof is grade but tests are REALLY hard but he does give a very nice curve :)
He is helpful and tries his best to explain the material. But this class is hard and his exams were definitely hard. You need to study for his test. There's also homework due every Sunday on aplia. So study hard if you are taking him.
One of the best professors at Baruch. He is amazingly clear and concise and makes a very hard topic seem easier. The class is always interesting and the subject in it self is hard, he is not mean as others are making him so. Professor Crockett was truly a great professor who wanted us to do good and his tests are similar to those of the practice
I admit he is hard. But he's willing to help you out and work with you to do well. I just wish it was not such a big class so he could pay close attention to everyone. But he's not bad and he is the hottest professor at Baruch! HOT! HOT! HOT! And NICE! NICE! NICE! I don't regret taking him, and I got a B for a hard class thanks to all his help!
He is a good professor. Since theres Aplia work, you can collaborate with friends. His exams on the other hand can be predictable and non-predictable. For Spring, the first two exams were predictable but the final was unreasonably hard. So he is easy when the test has the same material as the previous exams but hard when you expect the unexpected.
He is a very good professor. His passion for the subject and the way he treats students make him an amazingly awesome professor! I definetely recommend him! His tests are not that hard.
I took this prof. in Spring 2013. the professor is not that bad as long as u read Aplia. But the final was nothing to do what we had been prepared for, SURPRISE :( The girl who ran extra lab on Thursdays is not good and helpful at all. Also, do not believe him when it comes for you to evaluate him. He lay that in final everyone will be ok but wasnt
Overall, Crockett is a good professor. He knows what he's talking about and if you actually pay attention in class and do the homework, passing the class is not difficult. The final was difficult than the rest of the exams but the generous curve helps. DO THE HOMEWORK It really helps your grade. He's very laid back and attendance is not mandatory.
If you interested in Majoring or Minoring in Economics then definitely take him. His course is not hard, and in case you will find it hard he is very helpful, just go to him during his office hours. He'll go over any questions you might have. Actually, he is one of the nicest professors I've ever had.
Sean is def something great to look at when you are learning micro. His class was easy but his exams are extremely hard for someone who isnt particularly interested in it prior. Read the textbook but study his practice exams, its worth it. and take notes on what he says in his lectures about the slides. Also all Aplia HWs count as a exam grade.
Great professor!! He is very helpful and cares about his students. Although lectures are not very helpful, his review sessions are. In order to get a good grade for the class, you need to do the practice tests. And he is alway there in his office to help.
I love Sean Crockett!!! Very helpful straight to the point and definitely not bad to look at !
He's brilliant! The fact that his a hottie is very motivating. Love him!
He is a good Professor who take his time in explining theto you
I worked extremely hard in this class and I was lucky because my semester was a hybrid class, which means we joined with another professor for a study. So our tests were actually much easier than expected. Best advice is study the old tests that he gives you and do all the aplia practice. He is a great professor. He knows his stuff and explains it
He is a harsh grader so you HAVE to study ALOT. All the hw's were online & it was pretty easy you just have to constantly be reading and on top of it. I took a HYBRID class so i only saw him once a week but overall he seems a great professor just that he didn't have enough time with us like a regular class would. In the end just a midterm & final.
Great professor. I took him fall2013 in the once a wk experimental hybrid class. He's very helpful during class if you have questions, and also in office hours & via email. The exams were pretty hard but he curved them which helped a lot. 1 midterm, 1 final & online quizzes (they help a lot. Not an easy A but definitely worth the effort.
No need to go to class. Read the textbook and you'll get an A. Take him.
Very clear in teaching a relatively tough topic. Easy to get an A in this class if you read the textbook.
Awesome professor. His lectures are very interesting and he makes the material clear to understand. Exams are very hard! My advice: do all the homework assignments, practice exams (they are extremely helpful!!!) and of course read the book!
The exams were hard, but the curve was amazing. He puts the notes online so most people don't listen in the lectures or even come to class. The homeworks are way harder than the exams. There are practice exams and video quizzes online, which you should do, since a few questions are repeated on the tests.
Online pre and post lecture quizzes (not that hard, just read textbook). The midterm is not that difficult if you study for the practice mid-term quiz. However, the finals is pretty difficult.
Oh god, I would not recommend taking him. The class is challenging, must read a lot, and when you think you get the concepts, you get hit with a reality check with Aplia and his tests. Ridiculously hard even though he gives a big curve. Class average is usually around the 50s. There are better and easier professors out there!
1 mid term, 1 final, a "pre" and "post" quiz every week. The exams were hard but he gave an amazing curve since everyone does bad. The practice final was nothing like the actual final. Overall he is a great professor and very laid back.
It's really not a hard class at all, especially with a near 20 point curve on tests, I got an A with minimal studying. He gives you 6 free absences, I suggest you take them all because what he teaches is straight out of the textbook. Other than that, he's a nice laid back guy.
His lectures are clear and easy to understand, but he spends way too much time answering lame, disruptive questions from the students. Because of this, it's often hard to pay attention because the answers to the questions are so obvious. His tests are much harder than he says they will be, and most of the class fails but the curve is always nice.
Let me begin with a profound quote from Dantes Inferno that sums up this class: Abandon hope all ye who enter here. Where do I start? After taking his midterm and final you will want to rip apart your hair. I learned more out of Prof. Joyce's videos than his lectures. I didn't learn anything from his lectures. Live, breathe, and eat the book.
The best!!! Amazing Professor. Of course you need to study. Recitation sessions are very helpful. And you can always ask professor about anything during office hours. He is veryyyyy helpful. Highly recommend!! Miss his class
I barely cracked my textbook open. Your choice: either read the book or pay attention to his lectures. (TIP: just skim through his slides later at night, really helped me retain the concepts.) The ability to read graphs really helps in this class. If you're an average student, you will walk out with at least a B+ in this class.
Most difficult tests I've ever taken. Class avg for the final was 2145. The powerpoints and textbooks help. Aplia hw boosts your grade up a lot. Dont understand why he makes an intro lecture so difficult when the textbooks and videos explain it so easily. Perhaps too smart for the level he's teaching. Not many better options for Micro @ Baruch tho
Yes, he's handsome, alright, cool, but the class is tough as hell and he doesn't do a very good job explaining. Half the time he is fumbling on his own words and messing up his own examples. It was his first time teaching eco31 so I do cut him some slack but overall, eh... there are better professors for this class on campus.
Awesome professor. Just an FYI for people taking him ECO 3100, it is no longer the traditional microeconomics, but rather an introduction to game theory. With that said, you'll learn a lot, and having knowledge about this subject will be beneficial in multiple fields. Highly recommended!
This class is rather easy and straightforward. It is Game Theory, not microeconomics. It should be mentioned there is a good deal of mathematical notation used in the course so if you tend to get lost in that, you may do better in a different course. Professor is very nice and will help you succeed.
The class is very straightforward. His lectures are phenomenal and teach you all you need to know. Practice from the end of chapter questions in the book, and you're good to go. That being said, the class is definitely not for everyone. More on the abstract side of thought some of the time. He's also a cutie.
50% Quizzes, 50% Final. There are 10 quizzes and he drops the lowest 3. Final was cumulative but the course itself builds off of early material so studying won't be a pain. Come to class, pay attention and this class will be a breeze. There are a few curveballs in his quizzes, but if you truly understand the material you will be fine.
Quite a useless class. The material is grad school level so he just ends up skimming over everything really loosely since no one will understand anything otherwise. Still interesting though. 10 quizzes and a final paper, really, REALLY easy grader.
Great Prof. Very passionate about subject matter. Explains the material well. BUT - the class is hard. He says openly - if you understand everything we go through in class you'll get a B. To get an A you need to self-educate yourself. Problems in class are easy, the quizzes are nothing like that. Usually from the book, but no solutions available.
Be aware - the class is not microeconomic, but GAME THEORY. Your grade 50%/50% depends on in class quizzes/final. MAKE SURE you try your best to get good grades in the beginning as quizzes get harder and confusing later. After chapter questions is a MUST to pass. Amazing professor, but messed up grading system. Hope it wont ruin my GPA.
GPA killer. Please stay away if you aren't into game theory. Hard work doesn't pay off in this class. Wish I knew before it ruined my 4.00 in graduating year :((((
The class is pretty straightforward if you come to class and get the material. Easy to get full points on quizzes, but the final was tricky. Make sure to pay attention to the difficult problems he brings up in class cause problems like those will probably be on the final. The does negate some of the final difficulty by giving a pretty large curve at
He's a likeable guy and you can't blame him because the material is difficult. You're going to need to practise the stuff he puts up on the board and do a bit of reading. 10 Quiz 50% Grade Drops the lowest 3 quiz grades 1 Final 50% Grade
Took him for game theory, teaches well though it's a tough subject. He makes the quizzes and exams pretty hard, he likes to watch the students panic.
I only met this professor for one of his economics experiments, He was great and throw some jokes. he keeps up the positive energy. He speaks very fast and english is my second language so I had to keep my ears very open. He is good in communicating by email and is open to questions. I would take a class with him.
The class can get tricky and difficult. Gives ten quizzes and drops 3 of them. Be sure to study hard and get those 10 out of tens on the first quizzes because the later quizzes get difficult.
Game Theory isn't easy but Sean is a fantastic professor who is able to make a complex topic very simple. The final grade is 50% quizzes (he gives 10 and drops 3) and 50% the final exam. The final is tough but he curves up the median student to a B-. He is super accessible outside of class and a super cool guy overall. Take him for a fun challenge.
10 quizzes - 50%; Final Experiment Paper - 50% Professor Crockett is very knowledgeable and respected in his field. Pay attention in class and read the textbook/review notes and the quizzes should be easy. Final experiment paper consists of designing an economics experiment of your choice. Follow his grading rubric and it should also be easy.
Terrible.
For an elective, avoid if you can! He will make our life hard for nothing. He reminds me of the Grinch. Literally walks and talks like him, and tries to make your life miserable. He also is never available. Office hours are for show. 50% quizzes/50% final. He gives C's like you deserve them. Your gpa will take a hit for nothing.
He is well-accomplished and talented in his field and teaching, but he has a pattern for challenging students as far he can. All grades are tests and you must do as much practice in the textbook before every quiz as you can. In logic, he is fair, but he likes to separate the students from the normal to the best around; and it will affect your grade
He's one of the best professor at Baruch. He's willing to help students if they need help since this class is NEVER easy. He challenges students but very fair prof since he gives lots of partial credits if you write ANYTHING on quizzes or final. You better do well on the quizzes since the final is hard. You need to STUDY VERY HARD FOR A.
OMG, This is a very tough class yet the professor is SO AMAZING. you have to study SUPER HARD to get good grades, or else you will end up like me. TAKE HIM
I honestly thought this class would be a breeze since its graded through 10 quizzes (50%) and 1 final (50%). I did super well on the quizzes (average 90) but the final was absolutely ridiculous, which included a few questions and topics we never went over in class. He is a good professor but I would NOT recommend for an elective.
The absolute best just take him , nuff said.
I cannot believe the positive feedback I see. Yea he's a nice guy, but is very misleading and deceiving. The grading structure makes it that throughout the semester you feel fine because the quizzes are easy, and then the 50% final is here to bring your grade down. A true final from hell. He does indeed not teach, but apply GT on his students.
Professor Crockett was very helpful in Spring 2020 Game Theory class. This class is very hard and requires dedication. His videos for this class are great. Try to figure out where you get stuck early in the semester so the midterm/final. He makes his own midterm and final!! He was very fair grading for midterm grading while pandemic was going on!
