so far my favorite teacher ive taken, hes very liberal has intersting conversations, and is easy going especillay if you atleast try and participate in class i would recomend him to any who have not taken there history class yet

Loved everything about this class. Duffy is the best professor i have ever had. He's fun and easy going but he hates for students to walk into class late. He gives out lots of extra credit assignments and gives you extra points for participating in class.

Sean is a great teacher. a lot of notes and he talks really fast but all you have to do is ask him again and he will repeat it. he is very helpful and gives extra assignments. dont walk in late and his funny. he was really easy and i higly reccomand him.

Sean, which is what he rather be called, is one of the best history teachers i have ever had. hes really funny and at times makes pop culture references that not a lot of popel get accept for a few. overall the class difficulty is medium. tests are all the same format&alwaysss talks about the chapter so if you dont read youts still okay. recomnded

Took his online course, the workload for it was just right. 4-5 little quizzes a month, 3 multiple choice tests, some assignments and 5 message board questions. Great teacher and extremely helpful. Made me really enjoy history in the end. Take his class, you wont regret it.

I took a summer course with Sean. Do the readings, pay attention and take notes. If you do this, it should be an easy class.

This teacher was the best history teacher I had. He makes the class really fun! Showing up everyday pays off at the end. I am horrible at history but i got A in this class. He NEVER made class boring. U shoud absoluetly take sean duffy. You will not regret it.

Sean is really cool. he is easy but if only u do the work he tells u.. easy a if u try and remember to do the work.. awesome teacher!! recommend to take him.. He has a.d.d. so sometimes he forgets what he does but its all good.. really good information i hope he has 1302 cuz ill be taking him..

Sean is a very cool teacher he is not old like most of the history teachers lol. HE makes fun very fun and gives you studyguides for all exams. If you study for the tests you will at least get a B on all of them. I toitally recommend this professor!!!

Very easy! Know the key terms for the test and know the essay questions and you will do fine. The class as a whole is good, but Sean does like to interupt people when they're talking. And he gets mad if you laugh and people who say stupid stuff. Overall GOOD!

sean was a great teacher. im trying to take him for 1302 but i dont think hes teaching it. he expects you to attend class everyday. the test are so easy. just remember the key terms and study the essay questions he gives you prior, and youll do fine. i got an A for the class by just taking the time to study. super funny

This guy cracks jokes that are not funny & he's insanely liberal & overly open about it. If you can deal, great. Didnt read, only studied whatever was on the review. Made highest grade in class.

Mr Duffy was awesome! He really made History fun and come alive for me, which is especially good considering it was an online course. He's helpful and makes it near impossible to get anything but an A with all the extra credit opportunities!

This class is fairy easy, but you do have to know the material because the exams are short answers and an essay. it might seem like alot but he tellsyou exactly what to study and on the test all you answer is 1 essay 4 short answers and 5 matching. He gives lots of extra credit and it helps. The book is easy on the eyes and he makes hist intresting

Sean is my favorite teacher at SAC. I learned so much from this class and I wished I had more history classes I could take because of him! He's incredibly funny and makes history so interesting and fun to learn. I'd recommend him to everyone- although, you do have to study alot of information, it's worth it!

Sean was amazing. I absolutely LOVED his class. He writes a lot on the board during his lectures so be sure to take notes, but it's usually pretty organized. He tells you EXACTLY what's going to be on the test so if you don't make an A it's because you didn't bother to study. Highly recommend this guy.

Sean is a passionate, funny, dedicated teacher. I hate History before taking this course, but he made it fun. Although he's really easy, you DO need to study! If you didn't get a good score, it just because you're lazy.

A really funny teacher; organized. Make sure you read your book and take notes. Sloppy handwriting; can get hard to read when writing on the board, but doesn't mind when asked what it says. Class remains entertaining 90% of the time. Will find someone to pick on (like Yankees fan).

He is one of the best Professors I ever had in my college career. He knows really how to teach, and his assignments are fun. He lets you participate in the most enjoyable assignments. He prepares you for the tests and the quizzes. He really makes sure you pass, and encourages you to get an easy A.

He is one of the greatest professors ever!You really need to take notes in his class and read your book if you want to pass. Over all I am taking his class again and doing much beter than last semester. So take is class even if he does wear tose funny shoes :p

Awesome professor! History was never my favorite subject, but Dr. Duffy made it interesting. I'm definitely registering for his 1302 class. Although his shoes can be a bit distracting, and it's rather difficult to read his writing, I really enjoy the short related youtube videos and simulation games. He gives many opportunities for extra credit. :)

At first, I didn't like him. I actually hated him. As the semester went on he got better. Learned some life lessons from him. He still irks me a but but he's just a cool guy who pretends like he doesn't care if you do well or not but he actually does. Don't take if you like structure and organization. I would take him again.

Mr. Duffy only gives three big tests that you have to study a lot for. They have 50 point essays and short answers. His quizzes, though worth minimal points, are ridiculous, do not expect to pass them. He is a great teacher. Yes, sometimes he is kind of rude. You will have the chance to make up a bad grade in the SLAC lab.

I was dreading American History because I find it dull. However, Dr. Duffy made the subject intriguing and I was always eager to go to class. Take notes and/or record his lectures and read the book! You will fail otherwise. His tests are challenging but if you study properly you should have no problem. Overall great professor and will take again!

Dr. Duffy is amazing! he will make a great friend, makes alot of jokes, many extra credit opportunities, Reviews are the exact same as the test THE EXACT MATERIAL! you have to be lazy or just not show up to his class to fail! He hates the Yankees I recommend you find a way to support the yankess it ticks him off :)

Took Prof.Duffy for Hist1&2. If you don't like History, or know nothing about it, take him. You'll learn a great deal. He's a wonderful guy & very understanding if you put forth the effort in learning. Extra credit & fair grading. If I had to take more History courses, I'd definitely chose him! Love his teaching technique and his shoes! Great guy:)

Excellent class! I would recommend this class for any one wanting to learn, he keeps students engaged and learning. Not an easy A, but an A is possible.You are in College people! If you don't want to do the work, don't! But stop complaining! I agree with an earlier comment about a lot of work, but this "busy work" allows you to actually learn.

His class is GREAT! If you do the HW & reviews for the test you will do well! I made A's in 2 of his classes. He gives you everything you need for the test. They are MC/Short Answer/Essay. Take advantage of his office hours he really helps.He is funny too and his class isn't a total bore. I enjoyed it! just study!

Dr.Duffy is seriously the best professor/instructor I have ever had! I love History and he made it all the more interesting. He tells it like it is and he's hilarious, but is also very helpful when you need it. I am definitely taking him for 1302 :) This man seriously prepares you for University level. Overall he's amazing!

A little rough around the edges, but overall a great teacher. Uses multiple teaching styles, which means almost all learning styles are addressed,a major plus. Very enthusiastic about the material, if you can make peace with his unabashed opinions and views, his class is awesome,fun, and never boring. One other thing, don't call him sir!

Pretty nice guy. Always available during office hrs when needed for help. Your effort is your grade. If you pay attention and know the material, you'll do good. Online quizzes and discussion topics. Lets you know exactly what you need to know for exams and you'll review the week before the exam. Book is needed; attendance is mandatory.

Sean is a great professor and gives you what you need to take the exams blue books are needed. Whoever says that Dr. Duffy is hard or does not explain the material are those who talk and do not pay attention. if you want to learn and have fun at the same time take him he is funny and knows his stuff

Dr. Duffy was awesome. 1301&1302. He was passionate, clear, and I looked forward to every class. Mostly lecture which he makes interesting, theres videos and activities here and there. Reviews for exams are guaranteed to get you an A if you work for it. Overall great man and great class. its a shame this is the only course he teaches.

Dr. Duffy is an excellent professor, he is very knowledgeable in his subject,and helpful with class assignments. I took him for HIST 1301 &1302. He is very interactive with the class, he makes class as interesting as he can, and is very nice.

If you are looking to learn all you can and get college credit than he is the teacher for you. Not an easy class, but if you read the quizzes are a lot easier, his tests are straight from the notes and he knows what he is teaching. I enjoyed every bit of his class.

He was a pretty good professor. Even with an online course he inserted humor into the class. He gives you WEEKS to do works, so plenty of time to do assignments. Only complaint, is he kept saying I needed "short" or "condensed" quotes and I never really could figure out how short was short. Highly recommend him!

I took this class online during the summer & it was a breeze. Not too much reading involved but I would recommend using your book for some assignments. Discussion posts are fairly simple, if there are any suggestions to get more points he'll let you know what to do next time. This online course was an Easy A for me. He is great at responding.

Prof. Duffy was GREAT! I took him for US History (Spring 2015) online. He kept all the assignments interesting, and some discussions were downright hilarious. He was very understanding, and willing to help. I loved his personality. It's very easy to make a good grade if you make the effort. I intend on taking him for History 1302!

I took this online, requires lots of reading but nothing that can't be handled. As long as you log in daily and do assignments in a timely manner you should have an A. He is very honest, if you are lazy he WILL let you know. He gives you A LOT of opportunities to pass! Awesome Professor! I'd recommend, just don't be lazy with assignments.

I tried to go so long without the book... don't do that. you NEED the book. You absolutely NEED it. Prepare yourself for discussion questions. Just pretend this class is your diary and you need to update it every night. That's how this class is

If you read the FREE book, take notes on in-class lectures, you can pass. Enjoyed lectures. Not a censoring type. He's straight-forward. Watched videos, did few assignments, quizzes online, gives essay q's to answer. does GREAT test reviews and exams aren't hard if you took notes from review. Good luck. HIST 1301-142: HE GIVES YOU THE TEXT BOOK FOR FREE! He was amazing! Tons of extra credit! Super funny! I learned & remembered a lot! Gives you the 3 essay questions before the essay & goes over them. Does great reviews(I record them, it was easier) Jokes about himself & others(don't take it personal-wimps) I'M TAKING HIM FOR 1302. Open ended test

Amazing Professor! His lectures are great he might get a little of topic som times but you learn a lot. His classes are very engaging and interesting. He's also hilarious, and the he gives you the text book for FREE which is an added bonus definitely recommend him to anyone!

I was skeptical about taking an online class, especially for World Civ 2. This class required a lot of reading, research and writing. I guess this is an excellent introduction to the advanced History classes I plan on taking in the future. The discussion questions and essay topics were varied and forced me to learn valuable information.

A great professor. he can be a little erratic at times, but most people from Boston are. Sarcasm is his go to, but really does care about his class. if you need clarification on anything, go talk to him at the end of the class. not very good at emails. Tons of extra credit opportunities, with things outside of class, but they can be weird

He pretty much gives you the answers to all the tests, show up, take notes, do the assignments and quizzes, you'll do great. It is a really mellow class to be in. Quite a bit of reading, but he gives you a free pdf of the textbook. Easy A.

he is very energetic during his lectures. i enjoyed his class because he was so into the subject and is funny. he walks around and we play jeopardy when reviewing for tests. he goes over exactly what he expects and the only homework is chapter tests. he gives them the day before class online, sometimes two a week or sometimes none. good teacher

I was in his class a few years ago but had to withdraw from school due to a family emergency but while I was in his class I maintained a solid A and I loved his lectures. He really does enjoy teaching and cares about his students. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Took Dr. Duffy for both 01 & 02 and let me say that I have absolutely enjoyed him! I guess if you're a wuss you may be upset by his sarcasm, but if you're an adult you'll be fine. This course is definitely not a cake walk, but an "A" is very attainable. He provides extra credit, a free textbook, and little homework. I recommend him for 1301 & 02!

Took this class online and it was great. He offers the most extra credit from any teacher I have taken. Textbook comes in handy for discussions and team jeopardy. He is quick to answer emails. Funny and sarcastic but very professional. Easy A if you do your work but there are a lot of assignments.

Good assignment due calendar with clear expectations. Discussion participation necessary. Prepare for chapter quizzes, overall good experience.

Textbook is online and all quizzes are on canvas, they're 10 min 10 questions, not hard. 3 tests total all of which require an essay portion, he gives you 3 essay questions before the test, only 2/3 will be on test but you only need to respond to one so study for 2. He's funny and nice, I wasn't a fan of his lectures but overall was a good teacher.

Professor Duffy is awesome. He has a passion for History. He just wants you to show up,participate,and read. You should receive an A.I got a C because I overloaded my schedule.

This online class was awesome, would definitely take him again. He grades with an easy hand and deadlines are not to close together, everything was nicely spread out so not to much of an overload. Didn't have to read textbook, except for essay and discussion questions and that was really just to skim so I could quote stuff and write a good essay.

I enjoyed Dr. Duffy's class. It wasn't all that hard, and I felt like I learned something--although that was mainly through the Discussion Questions. He gives pretty clear expectations of what he expects from you and expects you to know for quizzes and tests, and DQs. He took points off of my assignments for grammar, but he tells you how to fix it.

Professor Duffy was great! All you have to do is study the key terms he gives you, pay attention to every single thing he numbers on the board and write it down. Read the chapters !! Test are hand written in blue book. He gives you reviews you can use a week before the test are due. Sarcastic which makes him fun. If too sensitive dont take him lol

At first, I did not like Dr. Duffy. He came off as rude, arrogant and entitled. However, this is the best course I have ever taken. Not only did I walk away with so much, he helped me tremendously when it came to small details that can have HUGE consequences. Students now days are very needy and lazy and he doesn't let that slide. Thank you, sir.

I took his History class 1301 and again his 1302 class and if i could i would take him again. This class is not easy this is College so you have to do what you're supposed to be doing anyways read, do homework ,extra credit and prepare for the test!!!

After you gain his respect by working hard, he is an absolute gem. He gave me invaluable feedback and was a very tough grader but ultimately was extremely proud of my work and that I should be proud of how well I write. His class is work intensive and expects your commitment. Take this class! You will be better.

Professor Duffy taught me a lot about American history. He seems passionate about what he teaches and he always provides feedback in every single assignment you turn in. I was dreading this class at first ,but turns out this was by far my fav class thus far. He is an amazing teacher and if your a lazy student he'll call you out on it

He is kind of a tough grader, but gives great feed back so that you can do better on your upcoming assignments. The readings and assignments he gives can be challenging but so worth it!

I took Prof Duffy for HIST 1302 in the summer and loved him! The course is very fast paced. You do have 6 quizzes a midterm and 2-3 papers due a week, but it is very do-able! Also offers lots of extra credit! He has a sarcastic humor which I loved. Would definitely take courses with this Prof again! Highly, highly recommend taking his courses!!!

I took Sean Duffy HIST and it was great. expect lots of reading and homework. he is a fair grader. gives great feedback. makes the class fun even thought it was online. he is considerate, he will understand internet issues and he appreciates hard work. try your best, follow instructions and you will be fine.

Very pleasant to be in class, his lectures were entertaining without ever straying off topic. You can tell history gets him excited. Homework was not hard but frequent

We get to do a lot of participant in the class which is basically just free extra points. He explains everything so easy. His tests are easy if you study obviously. A lot of extra point opportunities. He is the BEST

I took Professor Duffy's online HIST 2321 and I thought it was well organized. He also responded to questions and emails within 24 hours. I am taking him again for HIST 2322.

I took Dr. Duffy for both my survey courses during my time at SAC. Dr. Duffy prepares you right and gets you prepped for University level classes and Seminars. For example essay and Blue book style is (essential as history majors and I can't thank Dr. Duffy enough for preparing me for UD courses. Don't be afraid to question, participation matters.

I really liked the class. He doesn't grade essay style/grammar errors harshly. But he doesn't give a lot of direction either. One of the assignments was to write a question, but he actually wanted several questions. One of the discussions was called "Most Famous Picture" but the infamy of your chosen pic didn't matter. Lil stressful for a pedantic!

Sean Duffy is the best history you are going to have.

His a really funny teacher. You just have to read the textbook and answer quizzes for each chapter but you have months to finish it. The exams have one essay, about four writing answers, and some matching problems that's it. There is extra credit. He says you dont have to come to class as long as you don't miss a lot of classes.

Dr. Duffy is the best history teacher I've ever had. He is funny, honest, humble, and kind. Taking Dr. Duffy's class made me consider a career path in history. His lectures are very interesting and offer points of view I had never considered. I learned so much from him Great Guy!

Professor Duffy is rad! He is honest about what topics need more special attention to than others, which is very helpful. His lectures were engaging and his due dates were flexible

Dr. Duffy is one of the best professors I ever had...I had Dr. Duffy for American History 2 in 2022 and I am now a senior at UTSA, compared to all of my professors at UTSA Dr. Duffy beats them all. He has amazing lectures, is funny l, and really cares about his students. If you want a challenge and the opportunity to really learn History take him!

10/10 professor! Take the chapter quizzes BOTH times and then use the answers as a study guide for the midterms. Skim through the chapters and utilize the outlines, THE ANSWERS ARE THERE!! For the big discus posts use 3+ citations with well written follow ups for every paragraph = perfect score. Lots of extra credit. TAKE HIM!!

Very genuine teacher, can tell he actually enjoys teaching his curriculum.

He's the best History teacher/professor i've ever had. His lectures are entertaining and easy to get engaged. Be sure to memorize a lot of information for the tests which consist on lots of writing.

His class made me enjoy learning about history, he is always cracking jokes and makes the lectures enjoyable. This tests consist of multiple choice questions, short answers, and an essay question. He gives you exactly what you need for the test so as long as you study, you will do well.

Be prepared to read A LOT and talk/write about what you've learned. One of my favorite classes so far in college and I've learned so much. Loved Professor Duffy!

Really caring professor that wants you to learn. Read your syllabus and check the assignments section. He doesn't put all of the assignments in the modules section, so do not miss them!

Would I take him again? Absolutely yes! He's the best professor I've had. Super funny, knowledgeable and accessible outside of class. His tests are easy and the questions are provided beforehand. You're expected to write essays but if you study you'll be fine. If you're wondering whether to take his course or not; DO SO!!!

Dr. Duffy is an entertaining teacher and lectures rarely got boring, and is knowledgeable on what he teaches. You can tell he truly enjoys teaching. Tests were overall 65% of the grade, but they were all the same format and Dr. Duffy was clear about the material that would be present. Definitely recommend this course.
