He is the best teacher i have. he is always cracking jokes. he also lets us out of class early a lot. tests are easy if you look over his study guide.

dwyer rocks my world

Dwy-guy is AWESOME. He finds different ways to explain the tough stuff until everyone understands it; he really cares about all his students. He's hilarious, too - he made even grammar fun!

He is the best prof ever. It is like having a stand up comedian teach the class. I spend every class laughing constantly at his jokes. He is also a very good teacher, and he makes you want to learn. He is also so scrawny and querky that it is just hilarious. Take Dwyer if you get the chance, definitley gonna be a good time.

As far as Spanish profs go, this one is the best to encounter. He makes class fun, and you might just be surprised to learn a few things in it as well. Adios

D dawg is the man. Funny, tenacious, and kind. He made Spanish the class of my semester. Very understanding guy who has a great sense of humor.

Dwyer es mejor que todos los profesores. Dwyer is the best! I had an awful experience last year with my previous teacher and was dreading this class. But Dwyer has made it fun. He makes me want to learn more and to go on and he's great at explaining new, difficult concepts. I think he's awesome!

Professor Dwyer is very funny and always clear on the current section. The tests are fairly easy and the class is fun. He is very easy to talk to and is always making jokes. Highly recommend.

This class was pretty easy, especially if you took 3 years of high school Spanish. Easy tests, just pay attention to the book work you do in class. He is a pretty easy grader though and teaches the subject well even though classes can be a little boring. Highly recommended

GREAT TEACHER! I hadn't taken spanish in almost 5 years when I entered his class. He caught me up to speed and went out of his way to make sure I understood everything. He is very entertaining and makes class fun to go to. If you can get him for any class do it!

I loved this professor! I always looked forward to going to his class, as he's really helpful, really friendly, and really funny. If you have the opportunity to take his class, I say go for it!

Best professor, best spanish professor. Knows anything and everything about the language. I have learned SO much and look forward to class every single day. TAKE HIM! Tests are well prepared, and every test you go into you'll feel confident because he reviews before every exam. He's helpful, nice, and just great.

Sean is one of the best Spanish teachers I've ever had. He makes lessons interesting and fun. Also, he's real funny. The only thing is he uses English a lot. I personally needed to work on my spoken Spanish, which wasn't necessarily enforced. Great teacher, just not a big stickler on use of Spanish in the class.

I LOVE Sean! He's a very intelligent man, and a great professor. Really cares about his students. Class is fun and easy, but you learn tons of spanish! He's knows somewhere around 50 million languages and knows seemingly almost everything about spanish. The man's a bit ADHD and HILARIOUS!! Take his classes for sure! My favorite professor!

I'm hard on lang. profs, but Sean is a baller shot caller. He's a linguistics pro and explains Spanish instead of just giving basic "rules" - really helps you to understand the Spanish way of thinking. Participate in class! He has a lot of knowledge to share and loves to answer questions. Really excited/confident to take 202 after sd!

Such a great man, and an excellent language prof. He knows over 11 languages and rather than just teaching the workbook (textbook) he tries to teach in a way that you can actually remember and learn spanish as a life skill (the dwyer method). He is very kind and always lenient on test taking and homework. Can be a little dramatic but he's great!

Dwyer was fanstastic! While not only making the class fun with sense of humor, he also cared about his student on a personal level. He wants you to succeed almost as much as you want to. Consider it a treat to be able to spend a quarter with this professor.

LOVED Sean. Came into 103 with only some high school experience. The way Sean teaches makes everything so clear-cut and easy to learn. He truly cares for his students and was a genuinely helpful professor.

Dwyer is the best professor I have ever had at WWU. I tailor my schedule each quarter so that I can get in to his classes and I am so sad that he doesn't teach higher level Spanish. He cares so much for the subject and the students that he has created his own methods of learning for hard topics. He is the man. Enjoy!

I would recommend taking Spanish 104 with Dwyer. He's a cool guy and is willing to help whenever you need it. He mostly talks in English as well which was nice! The downside to his class is attendance is mandatory (you can only miss 3 classes a quarter or your grade will drop 10%) and you can't have your phones out in class :)

Professor Dwyer is an excellent teacher. He has many tried-and-true methods for explaining things and is very patient. A very fair and nice teacher who cares about his students. Most of his class is taught in English which was awesome!

Dwyer is awesome. He moved through 3 quarters of spanish effectively, and made sure all his students knew what they could do to improve their spanish. Also he cares about his students. He made arrangements so when I had to miss a few days of class for an emergency, I would not have to worry about Spanish. He also acknowledges me on campus.

Dwyer is a marvel of a professor. He learns your name on the first day. His lessons are clear and expectations are just as well. He is an amazing person beyond that as well. just put effort and show you want to learn.

Dwyer has a great sense of humor and keeps class interesting but the subject material is poorly taught in my opinion and there isn't enough applied practice besides the bookwork which is a joke for understanding anything, which makes the tests very difficult.

Prof Dwyer is Amazing. He takes a little getting used to for some but is well worth waiting for. He loves his students and wants you to come talk to him. Even once you are out of his class. His tests are fair and his teaching method is an example of subtle genius.

Pretty much amazing. Sometimes he isn't the clearest because he gets a little fast, but I would recommend him to anyone regardless. He is amazing, funny, smart, helpful, and really really knows his stuff.

Dwyer is pretty much a genius. He's very focused on giving you the most efficient way of learning each topic so some of the grammar goes pretty fast, but he's beyond nice about taking clarifying questions. He's got a great sense of humor too. He takes time to know your name and class is always fun. Take him if you can!!

I had terrible Spanish teachers in high school and barely learned anything. I did not take the Spanish placement test WWU offers and took this class based on the recommendation of having 2 years of high school Spanish. I knew barely any of the verb tenses we went over but managed to do well in the class. Write out all the homework for extra credit!

I loved taking spanish with Dwyer and wish to take it with him again. He was super helpful, very clear and it is easy to follow along in his class. There is not too much homework, just before every class. And he is very funny and tries to make his class interesting! I would definitely recommend taking one of his courses!!

Dwyer is great at framing Spanish in grammar in "every-day" context. Before you realize it, you'll know a bevy of helpful phrases and vocabulary! Plus, he (creatively) makes the content comical.

Dwyer is great and really cares about his students. He's always willing to go over stuff as much as you need in office hours, although usually he's so great at teaching in class that it's not necessary. He's funny and honest w/ his students. He's a fantastic teacher, although he does a lot of online textbook stuff that can feel a bit like busywork.

Dwyer is a super passionate professor. You can tell he really loves his job, and that adds so much more to learning spanish in my personal opinion. Warning: if you hate professors who go off on tangents this is not the prof for you. I don't mind it at all but I've heard some people complain about it. Best Spanish class I've ever had.

Sean made this class one of my more enjoyable courses I have taken since coming to the university. He also makes learning a new language easy.

Sean is hilarious! Class is usually a really good time and not dry at all. I always had fun, even when doing the textbook activities. He has really, really, really helpful explanations for the tough grammar topics. Great course!

He is always willing to schedule time outside of class and his office hours to practice Spanish with his students and to give any help he can. He loves what he does, and always makes class a treat. To be honest I'm not very interested in learning languages but I was always excited to come to class just because the lectures were so fun! Grading criteria is very fair and the lectures always helped me understand material at three times as well. Very strict on no laptops and phones

Sean is a genius with a thorough understanding of the Spanish and English languages. He demonstrates his extraordinary knowledge in clever ways. Though initially perhaps intimidating or off-putting, this man is all heart. He cares deeply for the success and well-being of his students.

Great guy, not everyone likes his teaching style, his lectures are usually very lighthearted. If you don't understand however he is amazingly helpful in his office hours. He gives you a study guide for every test. He will tell you stories during class. If you aren't self driven though, I've heard frustrations from classmates not understanding.

Sean was an excellent teacher. He explains everything very thoroughly, and is hilarious. He seems to really care about each student, and it shows. Tests were adequately hard, and you do an oral show&tell for your final. You definetely need the textbook, but didnt use the online code at all. I would absolutely take his class again, he is awesome!

Funny guy. The class was easy and mostly review for me but I enjoyed it. He's a great personality, makes class interesting, and really goes the extra mile for his students. He's clearly very passionate about Spanish and willing to work with students outside of class.

A hilarious, intelligent, and caring professor. he is the reason i have a spanish minor. he wants you to learn. if you do not understand the material he is very supportive in his office hours and will explain the concepts until you understand them. he is MAGNIFICENT.

Dwyer is a overall a really nice man and is knowledgeable about the material. He rarely did any listening comprehension exercises; however, he tries his best to teach his students how to speak basic Spanish. The final is an oral presentation, and all of the tests were fairly easy if you study before hand.

Sean is great! Some teachers are to be avoided at all costs, but Sean's class is to be taken at all costs. I, for example waited an entire quarter to take a class I needed that he was teaching as opposed to one of his colleagues (nothing against the other Spanish professors at WWU)

Professor Dwyer is awesome. He makes learning spanish fun. He is hilarious but still teaches you loads. Hes flexible with student needs, but not excessively. Great person, great class, definitely minoring in spanish because of him.

Dwyer was my favorite professor by far!! He worked with me and my DRS accommodations really well and made class fun to go to. He truly helped me come out of my shell and just be myself in class! His sense of humor is amazing, and he makes learning the material interesting and fun. He even knocks sections off exams that everyone fails.

Dwyer is amazing. He cracks witty jokes during lectures purposely to keep students engaged and it works. These jokes also include ribbing students. He is willing to go the extra mile for students improperly served by admin. Do not use electronics in his class (excluding ebooks and occasional board photos). Please take his class.

Class is pretty unorganized, and lots of self-studying is needed. Prof Dwyer is a great person though; very knowledgable and very caring/understanding. Communicate well and you'll likely receive a decent grade.

Dwyer is above all caring and understanding, he will accommodate you and wants you to succeed. Doesn't blame the class for being behind on content and won't assign more stuff because of this. This class is mostly to fill in the blanks for students coming from different levels of Spanish, so for some people this may be a lot of review.

Professor Dwyer is one of the most engaged and caring professors I've ever had! He made learning Spanish fun, practical, and worthwhile. He's hilarious, very personable, and very available to help if you're struggling. If you take Spanish at Western, you have to take it with Dwyer!

Dwyer's class is really fun, and the way that he teaches certain concepts (preterite, imperfect, etc.) really helped me understand the material. There are fewer opportunities for speaking and listening to Spanish than I would like, but I still learned a lot about the language. Definitely a good class for Spanish beginners and intermediates!

Professor Dwyer's SPAN201 class is a blast! He has a unique teaching style that really helps you grasp the material, like the preterite and imperfect tenses. I'd recommend using Unstuckstudy along with the textbook to nail those tricky concepts. Overall, a great class for Spanish learners of all levels.

Sean is 100% my favorite Spanish professor ever. He's funny and witty and really takes time to engage with his class, the work itself isn't hard, you just need to be on top of submitting things. Hes a great teacher, and gives plenty of opportunities to increase your grade if you are struggling. 10/10, would take again :D
