Awesome professor; one of my favorites. He has a great teaching style and uses examples that are easy to remember. I'll definitely try to take him again and you should take him too!!
Mr. Frost is not a bad teacher, but I personally would not take him again. He was not very organized as far as giving notes. He always had a powerpoint, but often fumbled through/skipped slides. I found him to use little if any voice inflection (Ben Stein). The class was overall easy, but Frost is just not a very dynamic speaker.
Not prepared for class. First Test 60% of people failed. Writing Assignment class average was 20.5 out of 40! This equals an F. I have a 4.0 GPA which will be lost due to this class. I have written him two emails with no response!
Awful!!! Does not stick to syllabus, but claims he does. Notes are useless for tests, LOTS of extra work outside of class.
Professor Frost does not play favorites in his classroom. Many of my classmates said SOC-215 was horrible, I enjoyed it. Sean is very laid back, he is good about responding to emails. He gives very detailed notes and good handouts to accompany the text. He did have our class write four reaction papers to movies we watched. He is awesome.
good interesting class. helpful when you need it, likes his job.
He is a very interesting teacher and very nice. He keeps me interested by letting students talk outloud.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Prof. Frost is an awesome prof. He has a great sense of humor and does not play the favorite game. Makes every student feel as if your opinion is vital to the class. We have a good time, work hard learn a lot.My level of understanding and tolerance has grown immensely since I have taken this class. This should be req.course for all college students.
I really enjoyed this class. It is really writing intensive but informative and eye opening. The professor is a nice guy and is very agreeable. He is helpful with your assignments and insightful. He is an everyday dude with no huge ego to deal with. A wonderful experience and a class act.
I LOVED THIS CLASS B/C HE WAS A GRRRREAT TEACHER!
love him, love him, love him. He's such a great teacher and he really gets you thinking. He's also very funny and makes lectures fun and not boring.
Prof. Frost is an awesome teacher! He doesn't press his views on you at all and he gives you the opportunity to share your opinions. Make flashcards for the tests and you'll do awesome in his class!
Good professor, understanding of the students needs. He really should taught the class without Dawn Hall. Keep up the good work professor Frost.
Wonderful professor. Funny, Intelligent, and helpful. Really cares about your learning experience.
He is an amazing professor. He tries to get to know each student help the do well in the class. He is one of my favorite professors.
Amazing teacher! Makes class very interesting and fun. Open to everyone's opinion on things and doesn't judge anyone. Very helpful and nice. I always looked forward to going to class!
Mr. Frost is by far my favorite professor I've ever had at Sinclair. He makes everything more interesting, is always open for discussions, and never forces his beliefs on you. The class was more work than my other classes, but every assignment is worth it because you're actually learning something.
Great teacher, makes it interesting and relates the work to you so you understand it better. Would highly recommend.
He is very strait forward and he teaches the class with life experinces.
Awesome...this is the word for Frost's class. He is by far the best professor I have ever had. He makes class extremely interesting and makes it easy to learn. The only way to fail is to not do any work. Take this professor!!!
I thought he was a great teacher! He makes class interesting and relates the topics to everyday life. He is very easy to listen to. The only way to fail is to not do the work.
Very Talented!
Please do not listen to the other comments. This guy is late on grades and expresses his potilcal view in class. He will down grade your paper if you do not agree with him. His class should be easy but of course he expresses his politcal views all the time. Hopefully, he gets fired because I personally cannot stand him
Frost is great. He is by far my favorite professor this quater. He is hilarious and really keeps you entertained. He is as helpful as possible and keeps class entertaining, relaxed and makes you feel like more than just a student. He is really interested in what you have to say and to help you out to pass his class.
I took his class online and would definetly reccommend it. The only thing I didn't like was that he took a few days to respond to emails and with the tight schedule it was hard when he wouldn't respond
Great, a pleasure to go to class everyday. I walked out of the room with a better understanding for the world around me and that was the goal. Good job Mr. Frost.
He was a great teacher :) ust pay attention in class and you will do great!
I have taken several classes from this Prof. I find that he is very helpful, informative, and that his light hearted joking and attitude helps ease topics of debate that could start issues. The exams are usually essay, test multiple choice. Very interesting and I disagree with the negative comments about him. I've taken him for four classes.
Very knowledgeable! Easy to get along with. An easy A!
The class isn't a hard class as long as you read the book and come to class. All the test are open book and the finals are essay questions. He's a good teacher and tries his best to have you succeed in his class.
Good with relating material. Gets students involved. **field trip** Sense of humor. Not many assignments so read the book
Extremely insightful and informative! Willing to listen to various thoughts and ideas. Makes class educational and enjoyable!
I took Sociology 111 during the mini-term in Winter 2011. It was an excellent course with a great mixture of lecture, discussion, videos and group work. Prof. Frost is very fair and extremely knowledgeable about sociology. He is easy to relate to. The course requires a good deal of work, but you are rewarded with hard work. Extremely interesting!
Wonderful professor! Would definitely take him again. He is very fair and makes class really enjoyable. Lots of work but he tried to make it as easy as he possibly could. Hope to take him again!
Good prof. pretty easy concepts. Little bit of writing. Easier than com206.
Prof. Frost was very knowledgable on the subject matter. I enjoyed and looked forward to attending class daily. I would highly recommend taking his class to anyone.
Awesome professor! He makes class fun and there's lots of class discussions. It was like over 2 hours a day 2 times a week but it always went by so fast bc it was fun! On the downside he did seem a little disorganized.
Tests are harder, but he is a nice guy and teaches well.
I enjoyed Professor Frost. He's a great guy and taught the material well. His time management skills need some work. He assigns a lot of work, but this fairly gauges how much you really understand the material. His Cultural Diversity class should be a requirement at SCC.
One of the best teachers at Sinclair. His classes are entertaining without being silly, and thoughtful without being boring. That's a difficult balance, but Professor Frost gets it. Cultural Diversity is an eye-opening class, take it!
I took this class online and thought that Mr. Frost did an excellent job teaching. He was very responsive to questions and his comments were always helpful. Even online it was easy to see that he cares a great deal about his subject. He required an enormous amount of writing, but I felt that his grading was very reasonable. I learned a lot.
Class is easy. You don't even have to read the book.
Mr.Frost is a great Sociology teacher! I've learned a lot in the class and enjoyed going to his classes, he's definitely a funny teacher! It is important to show up to class but attendance is not required. It's a lot of work but nothing too hard, all of the work is based on his power point lectures, his reading assignments, and in class videos.
Best Soc teacher ever. He was very engaging and humorous, the class was a lot of fun. There is a lot of writing and a presentation but the class is easy and you will learn a lot. Take him you will not regret it.
Mr Frost was very good and he has so much knowledge about his subject. Listen to him and read the assignments and you will be fine . He was very careful with racial and sexual orientation subjects. He listens to every student and allows you to speak your mind. I wish he had other subjects. Vegas rules what goes on in there stays in there...
He's a great sociology teacher (actually the department head I think). Anyways, there is a lot work in this class but it's worth it 'cuz you'll learn a lot. Quizzes are online and if you study the answers to them as well as do his study guides for test, you'll pass the class. There are two papers and presentation too.
Class is way too difficult for an intro 3 credit hour class at a community college. He gives WAY too much out of class work. 10 hours of service learning, 10 labs, and a research paper. He is very intelligent and passionate, but needs to realize not every one in the class wants to be a sociologist!
I hated Frost as a prof. I liked him as a person but this class was so hard. None of the papers were talked about beforehand, you were basically supposed to teach yourself what you were supposed to do for each paper. So much work is involved in the class too. The only thing I liked was the way the tests were set up.
I loved Professor Frost. There was a lot of work required for this course but Professor Frost makes it interesting. I highly recommend him to anyone who has to take a Sociology course. But do not expect to breeze through the course.
Professor Frost is very passionate about sociology and a all around nice guy. He is very easy to approach if you have questions and responds very quickly to emails. Tests are easy if you study! The course load is very HEAVY, plan to spend more time than usual for this 3 credit hour course -lots of papers and service learning and CASI labs required!
Took this class as a B-term course--I found it very hard to keep up with the amount of work required along with another 3 hr class and working full-time. The workload consisted of the equivalent of 2-3 short (500-1000 words) papers per week, a pre/post-test, and a final paper. Textbook is highly utilized, but enjoyable and easy to read.
This course was way too hard. Too many academically cited papers to write. Overall nice instructor.
Professor was very good. Class load is pretty heavy as there is a paper and discussion due about every week. No tests in this summer course. Final Paper was half done by the end of class. Over all not an easy A by any means. I do not like Sociology and this class was sometimes dreadful to me but not the Professors fault at all.
Had a lot of trouble with this teacher. If you do not share his exact opinions then you will fail. The class was called Cultural Diversity, but really he just shoved his views on the class. Terrible.
Very clear-cut expectations. Discussions and papers are a lot of work, make no mistake, but he sticks to the rubric and instructions are very clear. Returns grades promptly with useful feedback, follow it and you'll whittle your work down to an A by the end. Enjoyed this class very much, lots of take-away from the material.
Professor Frost was awesome! I took this course online, there was a paper due almost every week, with a discussion forum every other week. The papers were related to class material, and very easy to complete. Frost is a very easy grader, I received A's on each one of my papers and discussion forums. This class is a lot of work online, but doable!
The way he explains the papers you have to write is really confusing. I didn't know what I was writing majority of the time.
It probably doesn't matter which professor you have for this class but taking it online was the worst decision ever. The amount of work you do seems ridiculous at times. You write lots of papers and half the time I didn't even know what I was writing about. If you take this class online be ready to write lots of papers and read a ton.
He was amazing! He makes everything easy, he jokes around and makes everything interesting. Any questions u have don't be afraid to ask because this man will answer anything! He responds to every email, and he is laid back and will also except late work as long as u email him. Loved him !
I had professor Frost for two different classes and the differences were big. The first semester I had him he graded everything on time and the second semester I had him he still had ten things to grade by the end of the semester. He is very passionate about what he teaches so I'll give him that, but be warned there are lots of papers and quizzes
Takes work late, just email him to let him know. Very easy going and funny
I took Professor Frosts' intro to sociology course and after the first day i believed it was going to be my hardest class. I was intimidated about our final project and what kind of workload he'd be giving out but it was nothing out of the ordinary. He have good feedback on bigger assignments and was an easy teacher to listen to during lectures etc
Took online. So much paper writing. Only two tests but grades papers very intensely. 2-3 papers a week, each very in depth. Gave clear instructions, just difficult content and way too much work. Graded incredibly slow, most stuff wasn't graded until the end of the semester. Wouldn't take again.
There are way too many papers and written assignments and almost no tests. We had to write anywhere from 2-4 papers a week. He takes months (literally) to grade. I understood the subject fine, and he seems nice, but I couldn't keep up with that many papers on top of three other demanding classes. I had to drop and retake it.
He does give a lot of papers, but he is very fair and the expectations are clear. Loved taking his class.
You will definitely need to be able to find sources and citations for papers and discussions. Also, it takes a while for grades to appear.
A professor that grades heavily on outside reading and independent work. Class time is spent watching videos and listening to personal family stories that are not relevant to material that will be assigned weekly. Decent professor, nice guy, terrible curriculum. Even harder on Soc. majors.
Great teacher
If you are going to take his course, make sure it's the only course you take. You will be overloaded. Also, takes forever to grade assignments. Be prepared to read anywhere from 2-3 (70 page) chapters each week. Would not recommend this class if you work full time and/or have other classes.
If you take Frost for an online class, be ready to re take the same test over and over again with 50 questions every other week. It sounds easy until you get a low grade then can't even go back to look at what you got wrong so you just continue to get the same grade over and over again for that same test. Not only that, but the final is 3 tests!
The fact he has a high rating is mind blowing! Takes forever to get grades back & grades on how he feels about a subject. If you express a different idea on papers/discussions, your grade will show. The book is a complete joke. For it being an online intro class, it took up more time than my other 4 higher level classes.
He really expects a lot for an introductory course. Takes forever to grade and is tough with his grading. By the time you get grades back and see how you can improve, it's almost too late to do anything about it. I'm an A student with a C in his class and I'm floored. Don't take this class with him.
Great Professor! There is a lot of in class participation, so showing up is best to pass.
This class was very challenging. The instructions were not clearly given and if I asked a question about the topic I was told to read the material again or ask google. When I asked a question about a specific assignment (to double check I understood things before I submitted it). I was not given a response before my deadline. I had to post as is.
Prof. Frost is heavy into "rubrics". This is well and good except that he has a rubric for every single task in the course - even discussions. I feel like I took a course in rubrics instead of race and ethnicity. The over-use of rubrics reduces the meaningful dialogue that should be encouraged in a class like this!
The lectures were fine but often didnt cover half of what is on the tests. Also when my class had asked about the final paper we were told the rubric was posted online with no further instructions. He is a tough grader. You will take a lot of mini quizzes and write small analysis but they arent worth barely anything so dont stress on them.
If you want an easy social science "A" this is not the class for you. If you're truly interested in learning about Race & Ethnicity within the Sociological framework - go for it! His classes are tough but no other professor has taught me more about Sociology. Know the material and go above and beyond his specific rubric expectations.
This is not the class for you if you want an easy social science credit. If you're a Sociology major, this class lays the most thorough fundamental baseline for your future studies you can possibly attain. You'll work very hard but it will absolutely pay off in later courses. Don't get discouraged - you'll remember his lessons later and be grateful
All in all, he's not bad at all. Seems to care about his students and will work with you if you have problems. He can grade hard but it's easy to pass if you follow the rubric. Every week you'll have a chapter to read and a ten question test, alongside a discussion or writing. Unit tests are like every five chapters. It's work, but nothing too hard
Prof. Frost is clearly educated in sociology but he is VERY strict about the rubrics. Also, if you take it online, things are due at 8am, not midnight like most classes so be aware of that and no you wont get credit for late work. Even if you do what the rubric says its rare to get a 100 on posts. Also read for the quizzes or youll fail them.
Avoid this class! I took it as an online B term class and there was a ridiculous amount of work. Super long essay discussion posts for only 10 points. On the intro post where we were just supposed to be introducing ourselves and he gave me a 70%. He is always late on grading things. The last day of the semester he still had not graded 10 things.
loved him. discussions were interesting & helpful, altho tests were more based off of the textbook readings. reminded me of a dad in a good way & cracked a lot of dad jokes. made grading accommodations for exams & let us retake a couple quizzes. there are only like 5 real assignments u gotta do but they're really pretty easy. knows what hes doing
Despite the fact that the rest of my courses were more demanding academically than Prof. Frost's class, I spent way too much time on this course, much of it spent trying to decipher his vague rubrics and feedback. He was always about a month behind on grading and gave very unhelpful feedback on papers when he did get to them. Would not recommend.
Professor Frost is very biased, and not afraid to openly discuss his political opinions. This discouraged a lot of students from voicing their opinions during the semester. He is an extremely slow grader. He was often at least 1 month behind on grading. Offers no extra credit, and goes on off-topic political rants. I will never take him again.
Very slow grader
Takes forever to grade, it's hard to work on something when you have done three more assignments the same way before you get a grade on something. Grading rubrics is useless and makes no sense. This class was awful.
I took this class as an online class. He is very unclear in what he wants to be done with assignments. Tests very hard and does not allow you to see the correct answer after submitting. He is a very very slow grader. He goes weeks, even months without grading. But when he does finally grade, he is very nitpicky about everything. I don't recommend.
He did not explain the information well. In the class Race and Ethnicity, almost all topics were white people discriminating against black people. Links in the content didn't work. He waited about a month before your paper was graded. Very slow response to emails. Reading quizzes didn't cover material in the right chapter. Avoid him if you can
I was so excited for this class before it even started. When we had to do the preface assignment, I was very disappointed. I did not like the textbook at all... even though it said it would be unbiased, I thought it was VERY biased. Frost was slow at grading and was a very tough grader. Nothing he graded and gave feedback on was helpful.
Grading took forever, so you never truly knew what he was looking for. After you submitted a quiz, you aren't able to see what the correct answers are. On the final paper due there are no specific instructions given so you are basically just winging it. Don't do it if you have the option not to.
He grades really tough and hardly provides decent feedback. Took classes over the summer and have never had a professor who is as hard on students as he is. He needs to lighten up. I'm not afraid of a hard class but for an introductory course, it's a little ridiculous. My biology course is easier than this class, and I'm not a sociology major.
When I had to miss class to personal reasons, I was able to do multiple extra credit assignments outside of class! No one wants to do events after school but they were all interesting and beneficial I enjoyed! He was pretty funny and any questions I had he answered! All you have to do is ask and he's helpful! I enjoyed his class!
Very respectful, created a warm and welcoming classroom environment.
Mr. Frost was incredible! Would totally take another class taught by him again.
Mr. Frost was funny and laid back. Classes were enjoyable and engaging. Would definitely take another class taught by him.
He's sweet and all, but WOAH does he grade tough. Read those rubrics as if your life depended on it, write more than you think you have to, and never expect a 100%.
I'm going to try to be short and simple. Online classes: writing 3-7 paragraphs a week for 11-12 discussion posts, instructions were not the clearest. For this being an intro course, the workload is overbearing. Be prepared to write A LOT, Frost is very picky as well when it comes to grading. Expect a lot of repetitiveness throughout the course!
He was an okay professor, but I thought his standards were unattainable and as a student who usually receives solid As in all of my classes, it was a big adjustment. His formatting is unfamiliar and weird so be sure to become familiar with it. A lot of the class builds off of the first couple of units.
He is super understanding and willing to work with you if you communicate to him.
Get ready to learn.
Prof. Frost is super nice and willing to help out if you reach out to him. He cracks a bunch of dad jokes to get the class's attention. He does take some time to grade assignments, so if that is a bother for you, you may want to consider another professor. Otherwise, his class if pretty straightforward. Just listen to instructions & you'll be fine!
Frost is an incredibly inconsistent grader, with instructions differing from rubrics and feedback contrasting the content of the paper. You can attempt to reach out over email, but don't expect a useful reply. Passing Frost's class requires adhering to rubrics religiously while ignoring instructions and ingenuity.
Professor Frost is a clear, engaging lecturer who explains material well. Be sure to read the book—many test questions come straight from it. Do the quizzes twice since he reuses those questions on exams. Attendance is mandatory, but if you show up, read, and keep up with the quizzes, you'll do great. He's fair and never tries to trick you.
