This instructor generally teaches during the summer session. Homework is optional, but if you do the homework then he will drop one of your lower test scores. He has a way of calling on students that can become annoying (especially if you are one of the lucky ones doing well in the class). It was a fun class for the weekend session.

An excellent teacher. If only he taught during the regular semesters. Homework was optional, however if you turned it in, he dropped your lowest test grade. I highly recommend him if you take Math 104 during the summer.
The best math teacher at Solano! Throughly explains the material and the exams are real easy! He even does a little math game (He's a HS teacher, he can't help it LOL). He's really goofy and funny! If you're going to take Inter. Alg, take him, I highly recommend! He's also cute... in a dorkish way.
Best math teacher I've ever had. If you're someone who hates math (such as myself), I recommend this math class for you because Gregory makes this class clear and fun. He's also hilarious so it's fun just to watch him crack jokes about himself or other students. highly recommended!
The best math teacher ever! First time I really got math.
The best math teacher ever! It's a shame he only teaches during the summer and/or fall/spring nights. I envy those highschoolers!! I want him for calculus, but noooo! He said he wouldn't do it. He's real funny and would get on my case about this class not being a competition. *sigh* Story of my life...lol
The best math teacher I have ever had hands down. Most of the math teachers get irritated if you don't understand. Mr Gregory will take the time to really help you out. You get what you put into this class. If you slack off you won't pass but if you take advantage of his knowledge you will pass!
Best freeking math teacher ever! I hate math, but I love they way he teaches. I havent taken math in like over 9 years but he breaks things down so well I actually learn! If you have the chance to take him, do it! You will nto regret it. He is adorable!
Before taking his class I had been out of school for 12 years. Let me tell you, he made it so easy for me to get back in the groove. He's super nice, very funny, energetic, and genuinely cares about his students. I recommend him to anyone looking to take a math class over the summer. He makes math as fun as possible.
I took this class b/c my grade in high school was a D in Alg 2. Teachers really do make a difference, he made math so easy for me I passed with a B! He's such a great teacher, I wish I could have him for all math classes! He's EXTREMELY helpful and grading ia based on tests, hw is optional, if you do the hw your lowest test score gets dropped!
The BEST math instructor I've ever had. He only teaches at SCC during the summer but if you ever need a math class take his. He's extremely organized, helpful, tests reflect your homework, builds a great foundation for math & sci and logical thinking. The coolest thing about his teaching style is his hilarious sense of humor and you'll love math.
hes a great teacher... keep him in mind when you register for a math class. He only teaches during the summer.
If it has been a long time since you took math, you'll be please to have Mr. Gregory as professor. He makes math an easy subject, as long as you do the homeworks. He only teaches on summer though.
Sean is an excellent instructor. He makes learning algebra fun and easy. I highly recommend anyone struggling with intermediate algebra to take it in the summer with Professor Gregory. You'll definitely pass the class as long as you work hard and make the effort. He's a high school teacher and only teaches at Solano during summer semester
Sean Gregory makes a passing grade attainable by providing extra help and credit. He will clarify anything in which you are confused about and find a way to help you achieve your objective grade. He also has a good sense of humor.
I hate math with the fierceness! But Mr. Gregory rocks! his sense of humor and clearity in his lessons made me tolerate math and actually learn something for once! You do get the grade you diserve, he's a fun teacher but like all teachers he has a very honest grading policy. i would definitaly take him again!
MR. GREGORY ROCKS! TO ME HE IS THE BEST TEACHER, I HAD HIM THIS PAST SPRING SEMESTER, HE MADE GOING TO CLASS REALLY FUN WITH HIS SENSE OF HUMOR. HIS METHOD FOR TEACHING IS AMAZING, HE MAKES MATH REALLY EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! HE IS AMAZING, AND HE IS REALLY NICE TOO : )
Struggle with Math? This is your guy. When it comes to promoting classroom confidence he's Bob-the-Builder. But any appearance of labor ends there- he obviously enjoys helping students learn math. An inspiration.
Makes Algebra easy to understand and if you have any questions he explains it to you to the best of his ability (which he has a lot of). He is also funny and makes class entertaining, if you need a Math class and hes teaching it, Get him!
If you struggle with math, you would love his class. He starts with a mini-quiz that is NOT graded just to help you keep track of what you know or don't know. No homework its only extra credit. You have to have the class, take his and save yourself the headache.
How do you spell awesome...Gregory. He is a wonderful teacher. He always makes the material understandable. The mini quizzes are great for keeping track of your progress in class. They (quizzes) also help you focus your questions in the event that you may need help.
Mr. Gregory is a good teacher. However, he feels that your questions should be anwered in math lab and not his class. No calcs. are allowed in math 330. If you are not fresh out of high school, I would not recommend him.
He is an okay math teacher. The mini quizzes are nice but he shows a lot of short cuts that he doesn't explain we'll. if you aren't one of his favorites, don't expect to get a lot of help, you'll get sent to the math lab. Grades completely on tests, homework doesn't count. He doesn't comprehend that not everyone understands math easily.
Homework is not necessary, Some people never bought a book and got an A. Mr. Gregory grade using only the tests and you don't have to be in class very much. He doesn't explain things more than one way and likes to send people to the math lab, "if you need help, the people in the math lab can do this easily." Difficult to understand.
This guys awesome. I took his class in the summer and I can honestly say I love math again because of this guy. Took 3 schools tests and 1 take home test, and 1 exam. And don't be afraid to ask questions!! he WILL ANSWER them, he cares a lot. Let me just say he's not the type of teacher that just reads out of a book. He really "teaches"
Excellent teacher! I wish he could teach all the math classes that I needed to take!
I got a C in his Math30 class, and I still say he is the best math teacher on campus. Mr. Gregory can explain one problem in a hundred different ways until you understand the material (a sign he knows, in-depth, what he is teaching). He is VERY quirky and funny which makes the class fun. Do yourself a favor... take him!
I normally don't take the time to rate teachers. He is enthusiastic and cares about his students. take him!!!
Sean is a very friendly and outgoing teacher. He's a cool guy which makes asking questions quite easier. He will walk around the classroom between aisles quite often so if you pass by he can check up on you. I would recommend him if you need a great math teacher.
He's a really great teacher. Last time I took this class with a Different teacher I understood nothing and would literally cry while doing homework because I had no idea what was going on. With Sean however I had a great understanding with at least the basics. He really takes time to help you and is a very fair teacher. I entirely recommend him.
He's a very great professor! Very helpful on problems you don't get. I highly recommend him!
S. Gregory is a very positive and enthusiastic person. He is not going to give you an easy A, but he allows you to make up points and or take tests early. I have taken two other statistics courses and failed, but he actually cares and wants you to learn by walking around the room and answering questions. If you skip class you will miss imp info. :)
Professor Gregory was an awesome Math teacher. His zeal and enthusiasm for math is contagious that even though math isn't your thing, you will love it! He gives you word problems that will prep you for the exams. He has an unconventional way of teaching Statistics that made me understand and get an A! Homework is optional but will help immensely.
HIGHLY recommend Prof. Gregory. He is easygoing, clear, patient, and loves to help his students. Summer class consisted of a couple exams, a final, and a project. Exams were straightforward and based on what we do in class. Not a hard class at all if you show up, pay attention, and take good notes (you can use a page of notes on exams!)
Teaches many different methods to solve a problem but allows you to decide which to use; very patient and encourages questions. A lot to cover especially in summer but doable if you attend class, do hw (optional). Truly has passion and gift for teaching. Wants you to succeed. Show up, ask questions, do hw . Wish all prof were like him.
Most helpful math teacher I've ever had. Every student in the class I was in loved him regardless of what their grade was. If you show up and pay attention to what he's teaching, you should pass no problem. plus he allows a page of notes any size on every test. Highly recommend, if you struggle with math, he finds ways to make it understandable.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! Very clear, patient, helpful and kind. Gives different methods to solve problems and lets you pick your own method as well for the tests. He allows one page of notes (any size) for his tests. His lectures are very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely take him again. Loved his enthusiasm and commitment.
Professor Gregory is by far one of the BEST math teachers at SCC. He really takes an interest in the students and does everything in his power to help you understand. Stats is a very hard subject, but if you pay attention and take good notes it should not be that difficult to get a good grade. He allows one page of notes (any size) on all exams.
I seriously disliked math with a passion, but since taking this class over summer (6wk course) I can honestly say I low key like math now! Prof. G is amazing! He keeps everything simple and straight forward! He is super chill and loves questions! His teaching style is very modern and engaging! Prof. G is just an awesome individual!
Best instructor I've ever had. He made learning fun and took his time to ensure everyone understood the material. If you pay attention in class and participate, you will not have any issue passing this course.
He takes the time for his students to understand the topic. He explains very well and works with you. I like the fact that he takes time of the class to explain to you one on one if you need him too. Definitely a good experience for an algebra class.
I hated being told before every class that most of the class would fail. Math is not a course that most people enjoy, so to have an instructor that lacks faith in the classes ability to pass the class was really daunting and disheartening. I like Sean as a person, but I came to loathe his "use the Math Lab" approach.
Great professor! He is also very understanding.
If you want to waste time taking Math 104 with an instructor who prides himself on not using the book yet providing few resources for study materials, this is your class. If you enjoy taking tests every class, this is your class. SCC has some of the worst math teachers (can't call them professors) and this one is no different.
Great professor! He's wicked smart & his approach reminds me of the teacher on Beavis and Butthead (Mr. Van Driessen) LOL . Class was fun but with reduced hrs it was tough- he did well given the time constraints. He emails videos for each lecture if you ask. He drops your lowest test score if u do the optional HW he wants his students to get As
Professor Gregory was a great teacher. He is SO funny. He is a high school teacher, and some of those mannerisms are present. For example, students MUST raise their hand. He will ignore until a hand is raised, which I found hilarious. His teaching approach is student driven, yet helpful. Grade is based off exams, but fair. Overall, amazing class.
I had a lot of enthusiasm when the semester began, but Sean quickly squashed all enthusiasm for Math. Like other posters said, he's indeed quirky and funny, but his teaching style is horrible. He gives quizzes that are ridiculously long (every class). I wasn't sure if I was in a high school math class or college and I'm not sure he knew either.
You would hope reviews would cover the test right? NO! His quizzes/test review has little to do with his tests at all, its misleading. Be prepared to feel ambushed on tests. By not preparing you for whats going to be coved on the test he sets you up to fail not win.
the people saying there is a test every day.. yes, but its non graded.. its for your info only.. he lets you have a page of notes. he is funny and makes math bearable. he only grades the actual tests (we had 4 and a final in summer class) which was scary but if you do all the hw he drops your lowest test score. deff worth taking.
Sean is one of the best professors I've had at Solano. He is super chill and jokes a lot. He's also very personable and caring, if you make an effort to participate. His organization and methods of teaching make it incredibly easy to learn the concepts. I was never good at math in HS but took this class over the summer and got a B.
Math104 with Sean Gregory was one of the worst experiences I had at SCC. I passed the class, but if passing is the criteria that bar is pretty low. I can't give S. Gregory credit for me passing. It was my own grit and watching YT videos which he is happy to recommend. He should stick to teaching HS. He's not ready for collegiate instruction.
Sean was the best math prof I have ever had. He explains math steps so thoroughly and always gives you more than one way to answer it. He is also hilarious and made night class enjoyable. Never have understood math until I took it with him. HW is not mandatory but recommended since it helps take off lowest exam score. Show up, study & you'll pass.
Professor Gregory is by far one of the best teachers you could ever have. He is very funny and his lectures are very clear; he makes statistics easy and surprisingly funny.
Mr. Sean is quite engaging . He enjoys when you ask questions to make sure you understand the material. He refrains from correcting you & allows your peers to instead. If you seek help privately, he'll ask you why you chose to solve in the manner that you have, to get you to think. He's also funny & super friendly.
He is absolutely amazing. His grading is simple and all I could say is do the work. Yes, he will send you YT videos, but keep in mind you have to ask for help when needed. 4-5 quizzes what you get for a grade will be your official grade. Homework can be done it's optional, book you can find cheap on amazon. 4-5 quizzes total. 1 take home.
Mr. Gregory is the GOAT (Greatest of all time). He is so easygoing and teaches in a unique way that really helps students learn rather than just getting the work done. I would definitely recommend his class
Im not a math person but he made this class easy to understand and made it enjoyable. Very cool guy! Textbook and homework isnt required but good to get for extra practice.
Taken at Napa Valley College during Summer Semester He's a really funny guy. He covered the basics, but obviously it is hard to fit everything into an 8-week class. I think the amount was just adequate. Still, I'm glad I took it so there was only a short break before I started to take Calc II in the fall so everything was fresh.
During a pandemic you would think this class would be difficult online but he holds class two times a week and you work through problems as a class & he always encourages tutoring sessions with him. Although math can be hard for some I love it just dreaded this class and I ended up really liking it. Do the hw even if not required, it pays off.
He is amazing. I hate stats, but I actually understood everything. He has his own way of teaching that really doesnt require the book that makes the concepts so much easier to understand. You dont have to do the homework, you can just take the tests. Such a genuine dude.
THIS TEACHER IS AMAZING. You really are fooling yourself if you take anyone besides Sean! He is a high school stats teacher as well. You are graded on 3 tests, a project & a final. Homework is optional but you get to drop a test score if you do most of the homework assignments.
Prof. Gregory is the best math teacher on campus. I was scared at the beginning but he is caring and wants you to do well and to understand the material. He offers tutoring outside of class to go over anything you're stuck on. I didn't really need to because he does so well at showing the problems in a way that you can understand. 10/10, love him!
I took Professor Gregory last semester and he was simply amazing. I enjoyed his lectures each time i had the chance to attend and he always made efforts to help his students which I greatly appreciated. I took tutoring with him and he makes it all so much easier. 12/10 would recommend hes great!!
his lectures are well taught, and he's a great teacher. His expectations of students are way too high though. he adds on extra questions just because they are tough when it's not needed and doesn't extend the time. other than that, he posts the lecture videos which is a bonus. tip: download those lecture videos though, they will help with studying.
Sean Gregory was an amazing STATS teacher! The word STATS had me worried before taking the class, so I really appreciated his hands on approach to the class. He works through the problems so well in his lectures. You have to make it to his lectures or watch all the videos to stay on top of the work. He explains how to work problems so well!!
Loved taking his Calc I and Calc II classes for dual enrollment at Napa High! Very little homework, clear expectations on tests, thorough yet simple teaching, and lots of fun!
Prof. Gregory is amazing. He does not just throw out formulas and expect you to plug and chug. I have taken stats before and felt very lost, he really cares if you understand the process and how to recognize what a stats problem is asking you to solve. He works with you if you reach out and makes himself available if you can't make office hours.
By far my favorite class this semester. Sad to hear he won't be doing in person next semester. Hilarious and such a wonderful teacher! Made stats very fun and interesting. Also makes delicious Nanaimo bars. 10/10 class
Professor Gregory is a caring and humorous teacher who makes learning realistic. He provides a book and optional homework, but dropping the lowest test score is possible if you complete all but two assignments. The grade is based on three exams, a small project, and the final exam, so studying is crucial.
I had him for calculus. He's very funny and I enjoyed taking his class a lot. He's quite whimsical and if you want a more serious professor then maybe he won't be your cup of tea, but he's clearly very passionate about what he teaches and clearly has a lot of experience. Be careful because his exams are quite difficult.
Sean Gregory is definitely a very passionate teacher that's a step above the curve regarding some of the other math professors at Solano. He'll go that extra mile to help you on things that you're struggling with, and he's very patient with it. Exams are difficult though, so come prepared (if you do enough of the hw the lowest exam is dropped btw).
In the grand tapestry of academia, Sean Gregory shines brightly. His brilliance is not just in his understanding of mathematics, but in his ability to inspire, to guide, and to care. He is not just a professor, but a mentor, a beacon of light guiding his students towards the beauty of mathematics.
I took Calculus with this professor; He is a good at teaching but make sure you do the homework and pay real close attention because the course is really difficult. You do need the textbook for the HW but he provides a digital version. He's a fun guy and will make sure you understand before moving on to the next topic! 10/10 recommend taking him.
Mr. Gregory is the stats teacher everyone wishes they had!! He's patient and doesn't mind explaining things over and over. It was a relief to have a teacher that is down to earth and has a sense of humor. 10/10 would recommend anyone to have him as his professor and 10/10 would take his class again.
AMAZING PROFESSOR THE BEST YOU WILL EVER COME ACROSS TAKE HIM FOR CALCULUS YOU WILL LOVE MATH
He is not nice at all he yells all of the time and he thrrew my stuff down a toilet when i said i didn't do the homework.
I took his Calc 2 class and he was AMAZING. Super kind, funny, and caring. He's very patient and makes sure everyone feels comfortable with the material covered in class. He does a great job of explaining things in a helpful way if you're struggling and genuinely wants his students to be excited to learn. Best math class ever!
What is Sean Gregorys middle name?
Professor Gregory is an amazing professor. He is inspiring, funny, and knowledgeable. His tests are good indications of your knowledge, and if you've been paying attention in class and doing optional hw, you should do just fine. The best professor at solano!
If you have the chance to take his class, you definitely should! Prof. Gregory wasn't the most rigorous when it came to content, but he made everything he taught easy to understand. He gave personal help to everyone during class and is very approachable. He allowed note sheets for exams. He has a great personality and was very enjoyable to talk to!
Professor Gregory is funny, witty, extremely approachable, and is great at making difficult Calculus concepts easy to understand. Lectures closely resemble whats on the test, and (unrequired!) homework does not. Midterms are 25% of your grade but weren't difficult at all. Not much else to say--definitely a memorable class because of him.
HW was optional but if done, he'd drop the worst exam grade. Gave out practice tests similar to the exam which was hella helpful. Also allowed a cheat sheet but honestly if you paid attention in class, you're good. Chill professor with a great sense of humor. Textbook pdf also accessible, but honestly you don't need it unless you're doing the HW
Homework is optional, if you do the homework your lowest exam score will be dropped from your final grade. Lecture is fun and Professor Gregory seems to genuinely care about students' success.
